I came to the restaurant tonight it was busy and only one server was running like a chicken i waited for my order more than an hour which maked me upset you guys need to hire more people to satisfy your customers .

Seems to have gone downhill from 2 years ago.

Had jamie as a server tonight she was quick n efficient . Kitchen usually takes a bit longer than tonight but it was fast tonight . We ordered seniors turkey dinners with apple crumble . Everythi g was great

Came in at 5:00, only two other tables in the restaurant. Ordered and 45min later asked about our food, to be told they re very busy w delivery orders and we have to be patient . Then said they d start our order now and will need minimum 15min. Good Lord, maybe give your customers a heads up when you take their orders! !

Today we had our dinner in this wonderful establishment, everything was very tasty, it is an incredibly cozy place, very family-friendly, we were satisfied, now it is our best place to meet our family, thank you very much to the staff for such service and friendliness. Kid-friendliness: My child was offered chocolate milk, drawings and coloring pencils were also brought, and a childrens menu was gladly offered. This is an amazing place that our child liked, we will gladly come again

Coffee was watery and full of grounds. Food took 40+ minutes to arrive, none of the eggs arrived at the table as ordered. One of the meals was wrong. I keep giving this place the benefit of the doubt because of its convenient location but I am consistently disappointed. Wont be returning.

We went in for a lunch today and found the prices to be very reasonable. The Ruben sandwich and Quesadillas were very tasty, good portions. The service was fantastic, always smiling, very polite to talk too. We will be back.

If theres one thing that I cant stand about this business is its racist hiring practices. This pantry is obviously owned by a South Asian person as every single worker here is South Asian. If that wasnt bad enough, they had really loud 80s pop music playing like I was in a club not a restaurant. All I wanted was a BLT with fries. It took 35 minutes to get my order out. And there were only three tables in the entire restaurant so they werent busy. The fries were inedible and obviously very old and the mayonnaise on the sandwich was rancid. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Our server today looked like he was holding down the fort by himself during dinner time and he did a wonderful job, especially after dealing with the payment system going down. Kudos to good servers! I know how hard it is when technology screws up your day. I missed his name, I believe he was Hispanic. Thanks for the lovely dinner service!

Went here for dinner and breakfast in the last month, the food is great, kudos to the chefs! Unfortunately they are understaffed, one server working both times I went in! This made it so we had to wait for everything, a refill on our drinks, our food and the bill. Lastly I have to mention the Christmas decorations? I would assume have been up since Christmas. Its a shame because this restaurant has alot if potential to being so much better.

I ordered the food over the phone and came to pick up my food twice at this restaurant, and both times I experienced long delays, waiting 20-25 minutes each visit which was frustrating and inconvenient. Its important for restaurants to value their customers time, and I hope they can improve their efficiency in the future.

So I almost never post reviews, but I can t rave enough about The Pantry. I was grateful to find them open on BC Day, I ordered the pancakes breakfast, which was delicious. The server today (Poonam) was wonderful; she went above expectations + made a special drink for me, and she checked-in often, if I needed anything more. Very kind, thoughtful, and uplifting attitude. I ve been there before, but now it s gonna be the 1st place that comes to mind when deciding where to go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner!!

Couldnt put a fork or spoon through their cheesecake ...it was literally frozen. If I want a frozen cheesecake Ill go to Costco or Walmart, If I am paying more for restaurant food I dont expect frozen food. Food : 2/5

Wasn t sure about eating here as is was fairly empty at brunch time on a Sunday, but no line meant no wait and less noise. Service was great, food was good. Had the all Canadian big breakfast. Sausages were good. Pancakes were okay. Bacon was super salty but it was bacon. One of the first places I ve been to in a while that knew how to cook eggs over medium. Exceeded my expectations. Was disappointed the orange juice was from concentrate.

This is apparently a poutine. Fries a soft sprinkle of shedded Cheddar cheese and a side of gravy. Looks like they threw the fries and cheese in a microwave.

We have gone to the pantry restaurant for many years. Now under new ownership we have tried several times and has gone down that steep hill! Well sorry to say, today is the last time we will patronage this establishment. Everything from cold pancakes, overcooked brown omelettes to raw on the inside sausages, disgusting. I wont get into it but they comped us with sausages(deep-fried) redone and 1 extra sausage! Yup, that was their only offer. The manager said it was all she could do for us was 1 extra sausage. Keep you sausages manager.Bye-Bye.... The serving staff is wonderful. Vegetarian options: eat toast, lucky if its not burnt and comes warm.

My partner and I stopped in for lunch. He decided to have the Big Canadian Breakfast with pancakes which was lovely. I myself decided to have lasagna. First off it is nothing more than two layers of noodles, a layer of ground beef and two layers of tomato sauce topped off with a slice of provolone cheese with no seasoning to speak of. The first effort arrived cold so sent it back, the next effort after several apologies and status updates from the kitchen arrived frozen in the middle! We left with me eating only a tiny salad and now we re at Wendy s so I can have something to eat. To say I was disappointed is a huge understatement! I would discourage anyone from ordering the lasagna and although I ve eaten there several times in the past, I don t know if I ll go back.

Today, I took my three daughters to a breakfast/lunch establishment that serves eighter all day. A very friendly and efficient lady named Lisa took care of us. She was exceptionally amiable and assisted my daughters in selecting their dishes. During our meal, she checked on us to ensure we had sufficient coffee and water. It was evident that she had a rapport with many of the patrons, and she managed the floor with apparent ease. The food was of high quality, the prices were reasonable, and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend this establishment and will gladly return with my family.

The Pantry has become our go to breakfast spot in town. The portions are huge, and the service is amazing. Lisa is a top tier server that remembers her regulars, and makes them feel at home when they walk in the door. Id recommend this place to anyone looking to get the most bang for their buck in a clean and comfortable environment.

It was my last day in Nanaimo and all I wanted was some waffles and crispy fried shredded hash browns. I had to send back the hash browns to be done again cause they were soggy, so they brought back my main plate with my other food and my waffles were cold the butter wouldn t even melt as well as my sausage. So I had to call back the server and she she said they would make new ones and then another server brought my plate back 3m later and my waffles were slightly warmed however they were not hard and stiff like they were stuck in a microwave. to say the least, I did not ask for another meal when they offered it to me as my friend was already done her meal by the time this was offered for a $25 meal you would think it would at least be warm and fresh.

One star for the person responsible for having one server, and one cook 2 pm boxing day. Unfair to your hard working staff and to the customers. Ill assume its incompetence and not greed.

One of the last places in Nanaimo to sell a reliably great, affordable Eggs Benedict. My favourite is the Californian with Bacon, Tomato and Avocado. I eat from here often as it s menu is a great source of comfort foods.

The awesome twosome is a good breakfast with decent portions for the price, in this day and age. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Dietary restrictions: They will happily swap out those carb packed oil fried hash browns for some nice fresh tomato slices at your request! Parking: Parking is limited but thats Port Place mall for you. Overflow parking can easily use the malls or the Casinos main parking lots and walk as short distance to the doors. Kid-friendliness: Good place to take the whole family for a full meal or a quick bite! Wheelchair accessibility: Theres one man that rides his scooter right into the restaurant almost daily, accessibility is good.

Run down restaurant. Duct taped seats. Cold food served. Owner or manager speaking loud enough behind me to boldly state it was fine. Way over priced cardboard. Wont be back, McDonalds is better.

Great food, friendly service....but I wasnt big on getting rushed out the door. The western burger is one of the best burgers, Ive ever had! Returned to the Pantry and tried their falafel wraps for the first time. Ill be having it again, as it was fabulous.

Had a terrible experience here, the staff so immature, so mean & so unprofessional. The food gotten terrible anyway but they should ve fired the waitress who obviously racist, not just me bunch of my coloured friends say she nasty as hell towards them but friendly with Caucasians

What an absolute disappointment. The first stop in Nanaimo when I go to visit my father on the island.. was to go for breakfast at the pantry to visit our favourite server Amber. (Off the chart- her Caesar s were to DIE for.) Over the time of the pandemic when it was hard to travel out of course it had been about 6 months since my last visit.. and not only were we absolutely devastated to discover that our favourite server had moved on and quit.. we see why. Did the standards go out the window? I myself as a server who has worked in the industry for 10 years completely understand that sometimes an establishment cannot be perfect.. but regardless Amber always made everything a solution and ensured that our experience was a positive one. She went above and beyond! She treated every table, every guest.. as if you were dining at the café at the Ritz.. for a $2 breakfast diner.. she didn t treat it as one.. she ensured to make every guests experience a damn memorable one! We really went here for the service she presented, and her personality. Even if she didn t serve our table.. who she was, her standards for service, and her positive attitude rubbed off onto who she was working with. She made this place shine! Now, it s dull.. our food was cold.. our Benny s overcooked.. and as far as our server & management go (whom we will not mention names.. & i m sure considering that they are too busy on their phones rather than ensuring they are touching their tables & giving proper service.) the presence of the diner as a whole is negative and doesn t compare. It s too bad.. Please take this review into consideration, and even though she s moved on.. this place is going downhill and should reflect on this! I was in Nanaimo just for a couple of days and had a late lunch here on the first day. Well, I was kind of disappointed with the food. It looked pretty good but the taste wasnt there at all. Nothing bad about the service, our server was nice!

We just had a party of 32 have lunch there today and Lisa and the management staff were amazing. We submitted our pre-orders a few days in advance and all of our drinks and food arrived within 15 min of us arriving at the restaurant. Our party of 32 was in and out of there in less than an hour. Thanks you so much for the amazing service! Will definitely recommend you to other sports teams who are in Nanaimo for the day!

Ordered hot wings and fries when the food arrived the hot wings tasted so dry and the food was cold with no flavour. Also got served the wrong drink. The food is plain and not tasty. Won t be coming to the pantry very disappointing.

If I could give zero stars I would since I didnt actually get served anything. First off, I am celiac and needed gluten-free food, and the menu did not have anything to indicate GF choices. I asked the person who seated us and handed us the menus and she just shrugged. I had picked out either the butter chicken or salmon and rice as probable choices, but when the server eventually came around she said they had a gluten-free menu that was on a separate piece of paper and got it for me. My choices were not available GF so I ordered the turkey dinner (without gravy). Fine. I am flexible. But I was really hungry. Then after another long wait the server comes to our table and says sorry, the kitchen lost our order and she doesnt remember what we ordered! Just WOW. We spent an hour in the restaurant and all we had was a glass of water to show for it. We left and went to another restaurant and were served in 10 minutes.

Well, I was pleasantly pleased with the atmosphere of the restaurant. I was graciously greeted and seated quickly, which I love. Kudos on the hostess who was fast and efficient. The food was good. I ordered a benedict meal which was quite tasty. - I would highly recommend. The service by the service was where things lacked. She seemed to spend more time at the other table across from me rather than checking in on if I needed something. Overall I was satisfied, but I would just say the server might needs to be more aware of other customer, not just forcing on one table. This is why I gave it a three star rating.

Atmosphere was fine, service was friendly, but the food was simply not good. Salmon was not fresh, the dish simply tasted like a microwaved meal.

Had the salmon rice bowl. It tastes like cheap $5 frozen stir fry from a grocery store. Really disappointing quality of food for the $20 price I had to pay. Table was dirty, service was adequate, food was poor. Maybe other food is better but the rice bowl was not good.

The pantry is horrible. Staff gave me the wrong drink and still charged me for it. Food feels like it s been reheated and tastes, cold in the middle, dry and bland. If you value your time better off going elsewhere. Won t be coming back here this place needs to make big improvements.

Great experience having brunch with a friend, food was delicious and staff were great. Definitely will come back try their other menus. Lots of parking and their prices are reasonable.

Why did you guys have like 28 locations years ago but now you have like 5 locations?

Good value and uncomplicated family restaurant

Single waitress on busy Sunday doing the best she can, but management needs to staff better. At least one midsized party walked out because 15 mins without even drinks asked.

The food was excellent, but the staff acted like they did not want to be there. I asked for extra tartar sauce 3×,which never came. I asked for a water with lemon (never came). I was a little disappointed, to say the least. I would recommend for good food, but not the best service.

Wait staff were awesome. But got a screw in my meal, reorder had egg shell in it boo.

All round a really good breakfast here yesterday morning. Would definitely come back again!

Great staff and great prices. I moved from Richmond which used to have a Pantry Restaurant that shut down around 15 years ago. In fact most of the breakfast places shut down in Richmond that I used to go to. IHOP and White Spot are the only 2 left I believe. It was so nice to see The Pantry right in the downtown area!

Ever since the new owners took over the food quality has gone down hill as well as the servers...one server couldnt even be bothered to bring the kids honey mustard and plum.sauce for thier chciken straps, we had to get another waitress to bring it.. food is either under cooked or tasteless

Great breakfast! Food was served quickly and hot. Everything was made nicely and there is lots of choice. Eat here!

Love going here for treating myself always enjoy my meals

I ve been here a few times, on my own or with friends. The servers have always been very friendly and welcoming. The food has been delicious every time I go.

Ordered the eggs Benny. Ordered soft eggs they were like hockey pucks, complained and they brought 2 soft eggs 5 minutes later, didnt replace the meal just the eggs, so everything else was stone cold. Still charged us full price even though I could only manage to eat a quarter of it. Worst service ever used to like them but never again.

Would give 0 stars if I could to write this review. Service was horrible, server didnt come back and check and our meals. Mine was wrong so I ate one piece of toast off my plate before I piled garbage on my plate to get someones attention when the person who was not my server asked to clear my plate I told her my problem and the server actually charged me the whole meal. I left starving the the waitress was so rude about it. I am a server myself and this would not be tolerated where I work.

Saw the senior 25% discount sign. Went in and ordered omelet . Bill came at end no 25 % discount. Server told me I had to order off senior something and it was all detailed in the menu. Well I did not see that and no one either person seating me or server mentioned anything. Wont be back, ever.

Well the hot chocolate was really good this morning

The Rueben sandwich tasted off. It was either the cheese or the sauce or the combination of the two. It left a bad taste in our mouth. The chicken wings were nice with good amount of sauce.

My boyfriend and I went to the location in downtown Nanaimo. First impression: worn booth seats, menu was full of typos. Are they this careless with food too? I ordered anyway. Food: Clam chowder was perfect. I also ordered a burger with a salad. Seems like the salad was one of those salad in a bag salads with added dried cranberries and almond pieces. Burger was cooked fully, patty made well but the lettuce was wet. Kinda gave the burger a watery taste. Boyfriend had the fish and chips. They weren t overly battery which is good. Overall, it was an okay restaurant. But there s room for improvement. Server gave good service. Parking: There s parking just outside the door. The restaurant is in a strip mall. Wheelchair accessibility: They have booths and tables to accommodate your needs
