Dairy Queen Grill & Chill in Nanaimo

This particular Dairy Queen is one of the favorite places that my dog and I like to go when were in the mood for some ice cream.

Nice clean place to eat. Quick service!

The sound of machines is crazy loud.

Good vibes, great staff - I just like it, its a good fast food restaurant to give your money to.

Everything Ice-cream, Very slow drive through the last three times Ive been through.

It was pretty busy and we had a mobile order so we were just standing around. The staff were aware of us and were concerned that they might have missed our order. I m impressed how they made sure they served everyone.

Just bad service picking up order that was paid for by friends have order .no and its in my name but manager needs the details so I have to then listen to him tell me got nothing for ya and have to wait for email with the details I already had before finally getting order ,overpriced small portions too .

I came through the drivethru about an hour or so before they closed today, and I had the most incredible experience with my order by Roxanne (not sure if I spelt that correctly). She was so incredibly sweet and genuinely made my day with our conversation, and she absolutely deserves the world! My blizzard was so delicious and made perfectly the way I requested and they went above and beyond to ensure I not only left the drivethru with a perfect blizzard, but also a massive smile. I will definitely be going back again in the future!

I had great service and my vanilla milkshake was really yummy. Drive-thru was a bit dark.

We just go for sundaes, their ice cream and most toppings are gluten free which is important to us

Nanaimo BC tip at fast food you got to be kidding never mind that tips at a drive through. Sorry NO $30 for 2 squashed burgers and over or under cooked fries with flat drink is already gouging me enough.

We were driving through town and wanted a bite to eat. After passing a couple of signs we saw this one and decided to get a quick treat. Well, theyre located next to a drug use site so its not entirely their fault for the three stars I had to give them overall. However something needs to be done about that driveway out back if ever possible. Also there notorious for serving the blizzards understired and or runny overall, their cheeseburgers are usually very good for the meat, but a little bit slaps together and inconsistent with veggies. Sometimes theyll put too much lettuce or too many pickles and sometimes not enough Vegetarian options: Fries, ice milk treats

Went to dq for blizzards tonight buy one get one a dollar, great idea really? Wrong, it took almost a whole hour just to get 2 medium blizzards. When I was tired of waiting at 20 minutes, I got ignored by 6 different employees. I understand it gets busy and it s hard to keep up but everyone around me had gotten food and ice cream. When I tried to voice this to an employee he started walking away from me mid conversation. Long story short invest in an ice cream machine instead, it probably wouldn t take as long.

I ordered the 1L Icecream that came with side toppings. Not only did I not get my toppings but the restaurant wont answer its phone its just a plain busy signal

I go here often and find the staff provide great customer service. The food is almost always perfect. A breath of fresh air in the Nanaimo fast-food scene, as of late!

Even paying customers are not allowed to use the washroom.

They change the recipe to the hamburgers and they taste so disgusting now I used to order oh once a week maybe sometimes twice a week or once every two weeks whatever I felt like having a hamburger I enjoyed dairy Queen hamburgers but now they got such a funny disgusting taste I dont need the hamburgers anymore

We paid almost $60 for 2 blizzards and some wraps through skip only for all of them to be completely wrong. If you re looking to add an extra topping on your blizzard I highly suggest not wasting $4 because they forget every time. I ve never left a negative review on Google but after giving this location numerous chances, it s just too frustrating not to give the staff and also customers a heads up. We paid extra $ for cheesecake bits and cold fudge to our blizzards as well as extra sauce on the side for our wraps, and honestly I don t think we ve ever received our order correct, and having to drive all the way back just to get our order correct just isn t worth the gas when we should ve just received our order right the first time. We ordered through skip pick up to skip the drive through line, and our wraps were soggy and tasted really bad, and our blizzards were missing the extra toppings we paid for. Please tell your staff to read orders a second time because it s so frustrating paying for something and not receiving it

Way over priced for what you get the greed in the world is starting to take over wages barely move but yet inflation is 10 times you all are going to price yourselves out of the food race. Portions are also getting smaller with the rise of the prices!

Haven t been to DQ in years decided to get a cheeseburger and Dilly bar. The cheeseburger was wrapped so tightly it was hard to open and so burning hot! I open it and it was like they had put the whole burger in the microwave and over nuked it. I spit my bite out and threw the burger away!! Disgusting!! It was like I drove there just to give them my money. The dilly bar was good but I will never order anything from there again unless it s ice cream.

Used to be my fave burger spot, specifically this location made the bombest mushroom swiss burger.. Which dq turned into a mushroom cheese stack burger, which is lame for used to be good suck burger. Even if the ingredients or recipe were still decent they dont do nearly as boss of a dressing job, and it seems they think adding multiple cow discs could make up for that? Absolutely not. PS no wifi is incredibly inconvenient and it is near straight up discrimination to chase certain customers off as soon as they walk out the door saying u cant sit here. Booo, I want old DQ back and some wifi here and there up Nicol Street could bring back some confidence in safety in an area where I wouldnt trust my cat to be left alone (and I dont even like cats). Ordered a birthday cake and I am so disappointed and sad the way it turned out. I had a picture which was not only printed as a small square picture and put on a round cake, it s so much smaller then expected leaving tonnes of white empty space. The picture itself is terrible too, I had colours in mine and the background of my picture is just shades of blue, almost like their printer ran out of colour ink. I also have a dent in the top of the cake, which I will have to try and cover myself. For $45 I am so disappointed, won t make the mistake of ordering birthday cakes from Dairy Queen again.

Pretty typically Dairy Queen. Overpriced but delicious ice milk cakes and treats.

I went in at store opening yesterday to order a cake for my daughters 10th birthday, not realizing that they needed 24 hours for custom orders. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating though. The lady who was making cakes for the day (I didnt get her name) truly went above and beyond. She was able to make the exact cake I wanted and even write the text perfectly (based on a drawing my daughter had done). Excellent service!!

Hit & miss for service & portions. Sometimes the staff is friendly & nice & sometimes you can tell its just a job & unfortunately those folks always skimp on the portions. Its really unfortunate that so many places in Nanaimo hire any live body & it doesnt seem they have any standards & it really shows in the service! Atleast this DQ is more reliable than the one at County Club ~ 100% of the time their rude & only give you half the amount you paid for!(IME)

The customer service was decent, but Ive shown up for a Double Cheese burger COMBOS. With no pickle in it, weve gotten Pickle in both. Im honestly not pleased because I paid for it, to be WITHOUT pickles.

For almost $7 for a medium smartie blizzard, they could not be so stingee. My blizzard was just smartie crumb I basically paid for a cup of vanilla ice cream. Wont be back to this location anytime soon.

With one person ahead of me in line I waiting 20 minutes for my order to be taken and then another 20 minutes for my food to be given to me it seems like all the delivery orders were going ahead of everyone else not too happy about that it should be first come first serve

They were very busy!!! But got an ice cream birthday cake with writing on it .. and a great big thank you to the young man who bought the candles!!! You are a wonderful man.. my grandsonoved the cake and was sooo excited that someone bought him candles!!!

Staff works really hard, when we were there they had to deal with 2 very rude people, they were slammed with take out , drive through and eat ins, those kids rocked it , I woukd hire them in a second!!!

Spent 49 dollars on door dash for a 4 pc chicken strip meal a chicken burger with fries and a medium blizzard....with 5 dollar tip. Disgusting cold chewy chicken and fries that werent fully cooked. Never again.

I was just in this dairy queen and let me tell you people are absolutely ignorant, theres a sign that informs you a limit of only 4 customers aloud in at a time and twelve people including skip the dish & doordash where in this location, CANT YOU READ PEOPLE! & management was absolutely NO HELP.

Hands down the best Onion Rings in town. I will polish off a basket of them in a sitting no problem. And a young, enthusiastic work force rounds out what I consider to be much more of a restraunt rather than a fast food place.

Third time in a row my blizzard was 3/4 full, paid for extra stuff had barley any in it definitely no extra stuff. Very disappointed.

Went through the drive through. Ordered a cheeseburger, fries and vanilla milkshake. Cheeseburger was cold. The meat pattie was literally cold to touch like it came out of a fridge, slapped on a grill for about 2 seconds per side and put in the bun. Needless to say the burger went into the garbage. What a waste of my money. Very disappointed

I have ordered through door dash 1.5 hours back. My order seems to be processing like forever. Additionally, the restaurant is not receiving my call. I don t want a melted ice cream. Or whatever. My money is gone

My wife and I went into the Nicole st Location tonight. We witnessed an employee make a blizzard. Then she proceeded to wash her hands with a dirty rag. Then wiped the mess off the blizzard with the same rag passed it to the customer in the drive through. Disgusting We will not be returning to that location. Shame on the management for not training their employees.

We frequent DQ as a treat after a long hike/walk. The restaurants are very similar from store to store. We are always confused on how each blizzard has different amounts of ice cream. The store had a lot of homeless people hanging out in the parking lot and by the entrance door - a couple appeared to be high on something. This may be kind of intimidating for those wanting to go inside.

Always a go to for quick service and safety in this time of covid.

Milkshake was good, however there was a fellow in there with mental issues that was being a bit obnoxious.

We come here regularly but the service today was extra special! Antonio was patient with our questions regarding new menu items and just made the visit extra special with his service. He even handed us the ice-cream like it was a prize!

A long time favorite stop for treats.

This has long been my favorite DQ location in town because they used to take a little extra care when making a blizzard. We often drove past other DQs in favour of this location. No more. Not only did they miss an ingredient (the nuts) in my blizzard they also shoved a flat lid on top when no lid was required. Just a big helping of disappointment. Oh well at least I will save on gas.

I dont know why the gravy is allways burned every time for years now. The chicken tenders are thinner than my finger and dry why even have them. I dont know who likes fries that are so under cooked they have the raw potato taste. You also cant get in with out squeezeing past the rotating gang of scabs hanging out front. This place has low standards

Secret menu item ... 1 litre soft serve $6.00 Its the leftovers from before closing the night before, so they are not soft because of being in the freezer, but the taste is the same.

This five star rating is for the lady working tonight. I never got her name, but she has half her hair died red. It was so busy, and she was basically the only one running the tills. After the man ordering ahead of me left in a tizzy, I made sure to tell her she was doing a great job! I cannot imagine doing her job at this location. There was a rather belligerent man too, yelling about his poutine, and the staff handled the situation really well. But holy, the literal teenagers running this place all need raises!

Tried the new blizzard of the month Reeses O Henry. So yummy. Fast service as well!

Dont worry if you have no teeth, this location will pulverize your blizzard for you into a smoothy-like consistency without chunks. Also if you order extra toppings youll just get charged for them but wont get any.

Hey, cant say anything bad about the ice cream or staff.....they are great. That drive through though needs a redesign. Second time I have seen the vehicle in front of us hit the concrete walls trying to make that final corner. How many accidents do you need to have before you realize you may need to do some construction work to fix it. Staff say it happens CONSTANTLY.

Way over priced, $10 for a thing of large onions rings that s barely just covers the bottom of the basket, if I m paying that much for something I expect to get a good portion, unfortunately I get bad portions every time I go there. The best place to eat the ice cream

Theres a lot of noise from the machinery at the front counter so it is challenging to hear the staff. The menu items were all available and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the food we ordered was as expected and tasty/refreshing. There is something called a frozen hot chocolate on their menu. I highly recommend that. Better than a chocolate shake and more appealing to the eye too.
