Stopped in A&W for burgers to beat MS and been doing it for 16 years now. And this time it was downright disgusting. Lets start with the onion rings they tasted like old oil and too salty. Could not be eaten. Now the crown jewel the Teen Burger, was crap. The worst Ive ever had. It was like a cheese burger with a bunch of lettuce, no onion or tomato. Very disappointing A&W especially for MS Day!

We just went there to grab a coffee, they offer a 24 hour window service, but the employee was just sleeping inside. No knocking on any window could wake her up. What is this??

We wanted to get breakfast there early in the morning. We saw two people inside, but several loud knocks on the window were not heard. We were ignored or the people were sleeping.

Ordered a whistle dog, frozen root beer, and a coffee, and enjoyed my meal. Good service, and the restaurant was surprisingly clean. Lots of fast food places have lost their touch with service and image, therefore I give A&Ws downtown Nanaimo location a 5 P.S - as of making this review, they also gave me a reusable cup for my coffee. Very cool

Parked at 1 oclock in the afternoon due to no burger patties cooked. Zero traffic behind me. Was turning right on exit, had to go left in blind spot to get to parking, and wait for no reason. Why park someone when theres literally nobody else in drivethrough, especially with that location, making it less safe, and difficult to re-enter traffic. Ive been coming here often for over 3 years. Your staff changeover now has a bunch of people who couldnt care less about service levels. The previous older indigenous lady who worked here was amazing. Always a smile and used common sense. Wont be back.

This is the worst A & W experience of my life. The amount of cracked out heroin junkies in their restaurant was disgusting. The smell was unbearable. People literally nodding off sleeping at the table and all the junkies with their disgusting hands and filth all over the tables with them not being cleaned afterwards. A&W get your act together. Your restaurant is not a shelter. These people have resources for that. One man was asleep with a sleeping bag in the corner on the floor. The employees were obviously overwhelmed and didnt have the support from you to deal with it. You need a fulltime member of security on staff to deal with this location. Definitely not fair to your employees. Seriously get your act together.

Food was really hot and tasty. Only drive-thru open on Christmas Eve. Lots of people loitering in parking lot but had an awesome meal. Vegetarian options: Beyond meat burger available.

My favourite fast-food hamburgers and breakfast that is ALWAYS made fresh when you order it. Worth the 3 minute wait in my opinion.

Hands down worst service I ve ever had. The meaning of fast is completely lost on these people. Consistently expect to wait outside for up to an hour while they mimic the pace of the second coming of Christ.I witnessed the cashier tonight ignore a line of roughly 20 or more people while he. One by one took a single order would go chat with the lady while she made it then proceed to ignore the window for 15 minute intervals. Only reason I even bothered buying anything was because I stood there for an hour to regain feeling in my hands because I hoped the guy would just do his job.

Given the time of night and the type of customers after 1am downtown. My customer experience is irrelevant. You deal with homless and addicts with mental health challenges every night and provide top customer services.

Just drive through.. found it really hard to talk to the person. The system seems old and worn out. Trouble hearing on both sides of the thing

OH MY DAYS! I WOKE UP THIS MORNING THINKING I WAS GOING TO HAVE GREAT TIME GRABBING SOME BREAKFAST FROM A&W, BUT I WAS WRONG! THE SIZE OF THE WRAP LEFT ME VERY DISAPPOINTED! THE PRICE IS ABSURD FOR THE SIZE OF THE WRAP. A&W WE NEED TO DO BETTER !

Despite being in downtown Nanaimo (junkie central) this place is actually a bright spot. Hot, fresh food and really, really great staff. Pleasantly surprised by a fast food joint.

Today i went this store and a girl with glasses was very nice to me and the food was average . I am from vancouver to compare from the stores here the service was not best but the employer who took my order her behaviour was very polite.

Okay, I went there twice this night, I was super hungry, was super nice to the person who was taking the order. Wanted to share the burger with my friend, I simply requested them to cut it in half, but it wasn t fulfilled. Only giving 3 stars cz we were hungry and food was good. The order taker in the drive-thru sounded rude and frustrated. A&W really needs to train their employees in terms of customer service. Sorry guys, do better Thanks for the yummy meal tho

The lobby has a significant bar and stools design, but the stools are embedded in the floor too close to the table if youve got any kind of jelly belly. There is also tables & chairs and thats my only criticism.

Just went to drive thru. Forgot our straws and forks. But was okay. So many homeless outside.

Day shift is fine. Night shift is beyond terrible. These people ALWAYS ruin my night. They just left me standing in the rain for 20 plus minutes and wouldnt even take my order. They were inside ON THEIR PHONES. one guy was pretending to wash the tables while STARING AT HIS PHONE. The only good reviews for this place are from people of Indian descent. Conveniently the people working there are of Indian descent. Clearly theres alot of fake reviews. Dont be scammed by the scammers. Ill be sure to stay away and take my money else where.

Quick and polite

There was one person working both the drive thru and storefront on a busy Saturday and he did a great job despite rude customers yelling at him.

Food was good and the service was very good. You might occasionally find a free parking spot, always pretty crowded.

Teen burger was good. Havent ever had A&W in Canada and arrived late so saw an opportunity. Kind of rough area with a lot of weirdness going on (really inebriated customer reciting adhoc poetry about his member, etc) but cashier/manager was unflappable and provided great service.

I wish A & W had gluten-free options. I miss my teen burger fix.

Good service, food properly prepared. Too many street junkies in the area. If you use the drive thru you actually have to watch out for them to avoid running one over. Youd think I was joking, but Im not.

NEVER GO HERE! The whole experience took about an hour and ended up asking for a refund... Terrible food for a fast food restaurant, took 40 minutes for us to get our food from a walk-in order and they forgot our apple turnovers which we were told would take a second... instead of took an additional 15 minutes... Before we asked for a refund and left.

Asked for ice for my foundation drink. They said they don t offer ice for the drinks, yet ice was given to me for my ice coffee?? Lol

A classic burger joint from one of my favorite American imports. If you want that iconic root beer you cant go wrong. Food is what you expect from fast food. Affordable, hot and easy to scarf down. This location suffers like similar businesses in the area from the location but staff manage well and often keep the tables clear and clean. Speaking to staff theyve always been helpful and efficient when Ive been there and will let you know if theres any delays in foods. Overall classic fast food but I recommend take out here. On a personal note, something about the new spicy pickle burger speaks to me. Try it for an interesting combination.

Never been disappointed with the food here, always fresh and tasty no matter what I order. Service is always prompt. I love the 24/7 walk-up order window, too. I dont have a car and cant go through drive-thrus at other chains after dining room hours end but I can go to A&W at any time :) Vegetarian options: They have a Beyond Burger option that even I [an omnivore] love! Some vegetarian side and dessert options as well. Parking: Some spots in an on-site parking lot, also some street parking on Victoria Crescent.

Screwed up both my orders separate days. Ruined my meals! You gotta pay attention. They forget stuff like fries and put mayo on chicken wraps instead of ranch like it says. No quality control. Just whatever

Despite downtown being downtown, this A&W is pretty calm and quiet, especially around dinner time. My burger and fries are always fresh. Probably one of the best places to eat downtown.

Very nice staff but very sad atmosphere because of how many addicts were in there visibly high. Its just hard to watch these people live that way

This isnt a single visit review this is a rating based on going here atleast once a month or week for the last 5 years but the service is generally apathetic with the exception of a few workers. They deal with alot but they with regularity mess up my orders but the food is usually pretty hot atleast. I think you guys could do better but its one of the few places open 24/7

It was understaffed for a rush hour. Staff was professional and kind to us though.

The place was very smokey and so had to opt out of dine in. The service was rather slow. Burger was good and made to specifications. Never enough napkins and the ones we did get were pretty greasy.

I usually wouldnt even bother. If youre into locked doors and staff texting on their phone while you risk your life waiting for your food this is the place for you. Plus it costs an arm and a leg.

Food was ok but was given half the fries and was missing food from the order. Guy who took our order was rude and not friendly at all. I know the location is sketchy but he didnt need to be rude for no reason.

The night staff are not very friendly, slow to serve the walk -up window and are quite ignorant towards anyone that even remotely looks homeless even when they are not....

For serving drunks(its located by numerous bars/pubs) at 330am as well as those of us in the drive thru, the service was okay. The food was hot and fresh, but the voice through the speaker was short and rude.

Food was good. Could hardly understand drive thru guy through the speaker. Card reader was dirty and didnt read the first time. What a put out to have to wipe it off so the tap worked. Buddy couldnt give me my food and close the window fast enough. I was the only one there. Guess buddy was having a bad day, or I interrupted a phonecall.

Worst service received tonight! I was served orange water in the name of orange juice. The guy who handed me the order wasn t ready to admit it that it might have been a machine glitch. He told me that it was complimentary and showed me someone else s receipt. I then made him have a look again and get the correct receipt in which I had paid for the drink. Even after showing him the watery juice, not a single apology received, he handed me a new juice glass, no sorry nothing! I m not coming here ever again! I rather sleep eating something from Mc Donald s.

4 of the last 5 times Ive tried to eat here their debit was down. Maybe they just dont want my business. Theyve got their wish.

This location is supposed to be open 24 hours and is across from a bar so that should tell you alot right there. On top of that their staff are rude and the other day I was waiting in the drive thru at 1045 and waited there for 10 mins for 3 cars to be served and when I got up to the window they told me they would not serve me as they were about to close and they want to go home. They were still open for 5 minutes and I had been waiting for 10 already. They could at least block the drivethru and finish serving the customers that are waiting. Especially if they are still open!

Went by the 24 hour service window and was told by a very very stoned employee that they can only do skip orders because theyre changing the tills. More accurately, youre stoned and lazy and didnt want to make me food. 10:30pm Saturday November 5 2022.

Other than waiting forever to make a order which I honestly thought they were closed an almost drove away the kids meals are ridiculously over priced at $10 for a tiny fry, 2 chicken strips and watered down apple juice... also got water downed root beer cold fries and a soggy burger
