Ive picked up food from here several times. Very friendly, great food, but I find not only the quality but the soiciness varies tremendously.ordered hot On Skip and Doordash there are only 3 choices of spiciness: mild, medium and hot. On their website there are 4 choices going from presumably the least spicy to the most. The lowest option is spicy (weird!?), then mild, hot and extra hot. Yesterday I ordered hot. It was very mild. Once before I ordered hot and it was exactly right! Very disappointing to be looking forward to a hot curry and get a very mild one. And whats with spicy being listed below mild? Makes no sense at all. Also the meat combos dont allow a choice of vegetable curries. It seems you always get some kind of daal (obviously the cheapest) I wish they had a meat combo where I could choose which veggie curry, even if it cost more depending on what I chose. Also I really dont know why they bother with the salad that comes with it (a few chunks of carrot and onion). I doubt that anyone eats it - it really isnt a salad.

Came into the restaurant a while ago with my friends, and absolute cannot get the FLAVOURS OF INDIA OUT OF MY MIND :D it s super delicious and staff were super kind!! Service was fast and gave us some free dessert!! Highly recommend for late night cravings!!

My wife and I tried flavours of India for the first time today, and it is by far the BEST Indian food I ve had in Nanaimo! The new owners are great, friendly and were very accommodating. Would highly recommend!

Today we went for dinner. we had tried few items but we speacially like hariyali paneer tikka was awsome. They were so humbel. we like the enviornment and food.

Ive gotten food from here several times and when its good, its great-- though the quality is really inconsistent, and when they forget things they lie and hold a grudge if you try to remedy the situation(they just forgot chutney it wasnt a huge deal, I phoned to notify Id be coming to pick it up but she lied and said my items never came with it but it did.. literally right on the menu. I wasnt rude I just drove there anyways and got it from a dude who was happy to hand it over. So weird). My last order I give up, the woman threw rotten lettuce on my takeaway.. Not an allergy friendly place.

The food is nothing short of outstanding. We tried the Kadai/Desi chicken and lamb.These dishes were a perfect blend of authentic Indian flavors cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Flavors of India to anyone looking to indulge in the best Indian cuisine in Nanaimo.

No doubt it s one the best Indian restaurant in Nanaimo. The ambiance is amazing and soothing vibe overall. Somehow I felt the food quality and taste was not at par with other good restaurants we have in the city.

Food was amazing. We ordered tandoori roti, naan, paneer korma. Everything was delicious. It was authentic. A little bit pricey, but the food justified the price.i recommend all to visit this place.

I had an amazing experience at Flavours of India, we tried Chole Bhature, tikki chat, dahi Bhale, Chap and garlic Naans. Loved the flavours and the presentations. Ingredients were high quality and super delicious. The most yummy thing was Rasmalai 100/100. The service was so good really liked friendly behaviour of staff, ambiance is really stunning. Definitely going again soon. Highly recommend people to go there.

I have to walk to and from this place (its only a 15 min round trip) because I really need to work off the food. Literally everything Ive had is spectacular. So much of the main event (lamb/prawns/vegetables) in every dish, more than any other place I have been. Channa samosa chat is the best value and best tasting lunch in the neighbourhood. Great chat with the owner while I was waiting. Coming back for lamb biriani, chicken lababdar and garlic naan soon. Vegetarian options: So many great options and stuffed with veg

Best Indian food in the City! The Gobi Garlic is one of my favourite dishes. I have been getting takeout for years, but now with the renovations, it is a great place to go have a sit down dinner as well. Vegetarian options: Lots of classic veggie options like paneer and veggie korma

We often make the trip from Campbell River just to enjoy this incredible food! Their Kalmi Kabab is truly exceptional unlike anything else. I especially love having the rice on the side. The new owner is incredibly welcoming, warm, and friendly, which makes every visit a great experience. We usually grab dinner and have enough leftovers for lunch the next day, which is a bonus! I highly recommend this place for both the food and the hospitality.

We were very disappointed with the customer service we received. We arrived at the restaurant at 8:30 pm, and despite most of the tables being unoccupied, the person in the reception informed us that there would be a one-hour wait. Furthermore, we were told the restaurant was closing at 9:30 pm, even though the website clearly states that closing time is 10:30 pm.

We visited today with family.. Amazing food and fast service we met Ashmeet who s the owner of the restaurant and he takes charge today under new management.. we wish them for future best of luck

This place surpassed our expectations by a big margin! We were visiting Nanaimo and were ready to settle for less than decent Indian food but the food here was so delicious that we had to come back the next day. Everything we ordered was very tasty and the dishes came with complementary rice to top it all.

Amazing experience dinning at this restaurant. We had butter chicken (included in chicken combo with rice and naan) and madras fish curry. Portion was huge. One combo is enough rice for 2 people. I did not regret upgrading to garlic naan. Simran and another lady were so great at helping us choose the right dish. 5 stars experience in such a humble place

We ordered takeout through Uber Eats. Daal Tadka tasted disgustingly bad, it had thrice the amount of salt. This is after the restaurant took an hour to prepare a small order. Highly NOT recommended!

Simran, The server is so nice she is so kind and helpful. Listens to you and is ready to help. She is so soft spoken, polite and friendly . We came from surrey and this restaurant got the best server I would say. Vegetarian options: We had soya chaap and kadahi paneer

I ordered something from uber and I canceled the order but restaurant still charged me . For no food and no service . I canceled my order within two minutes and order was $52 and I get charged for nothing really not appreciate.

Today I and my father had dinner at Flavors of India Nanaimo. She served very well and esp. asked about Spicey level required. We ordered Kadhai Paneer etc. It was very delicious and quantity was well enough for two people. I will highly recommend this place to eat.

The fish that was served to us was very old and raw. This is unacceptable, which can make someone sick. Overall the service was not good either.

We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan. Naan was uncooked, no flavour of garlic whatsoever plus Chicken curry tasted like it was made out of ketchup or canned tomato puree with no flavor, no spice (and we ordered spicy). Absolute ripoff for $60. Would not recommend if you are looking for traditional food.

We went yesterday and the service was good the owner came to us to check how was everything but we were disappointed with the taste of paneer tikka. The paneer was very very dry and had no taste at all. The manchurian was very good but quantity was not at all satisfied. We havent tried so many indian restaurants in nanaimo yet but the food of india heritage is good but they lack in good service Edit: Seems owner is offended. The reviews are posted on google so that other customers get some help by reading them. Please dont get offended by this and try to reply much more professionally and with the certainity of improving next time if you want to stay in business for longer.

My #1 choice for Indian food in Nanaimo

I visited this place for the first time here today. I would say just one word as pathetic customer service and pathetic food. I requested a masala chai without ginger and she served me a masala chai without anything added to it not even cardamom, fennel etc. it was so bad just the plain chai when I specifically said add everything except ginger. when I asked her what is added she just reverted with arrogance I am not sure about it. Instead of asking me if I can change it or let me check she just said I am not sure and left from our table. Although I was not charged for chai but she never apologized for the error and the behavior was really rude. Second, I also ordered Chloe bhature the oil was floating on the bread see image.. worst food too. In between we were eating she did not even come and ask once if we need anything or if everything okay. I would not suggest anyone going here. There are so many better restaurants but not this again ever!! If there was an option to give rating below 1 I would do that. They really need to learn first customer hospital which I found zero.. if you dont Wana spoil your mood dont ever go there!lastly, the food had color look at our hands... Adding my comments here to owners reply - we have had food in other restaurant and the garlic never color your hands also they have no excuse to write about the oil shown on bread and lastly the bad behavior which only we faced when we ordered chai only we can tell. And everyone can see very clear how the owner has replied to our concern without apologetically. Well, we cant help it but the most we can do whoever ask us about this restaurant we will make sure we tell the truth!!

I am not sure if they want to run the business. I went with a friend one time at around 11:30 am but they denied us to dine in by saying that dine in opens in an hour but their hours don t mention that. Another time we went there at around 1-2pm and the lady at front desk asked us to leave stating that it s their break and they cannot attend us. The only time we got to dine in was the third time which was seriously my last attempt at this place. The server lady was constantly talking on her airpod even while serving us utmost rude and terrible service. Never going back

I love the food from this place and have ordered multiple times. We always make sure to leave a tip for staff as they do a great job and are very friendly. Found out all those tips go straight to the owner and withheld from staff (which is illegal). Sadly I m not going back because that is awful

Ordered combo dinners from Flavours of India tonight, was absolutely delicious especially the papadum(?). Hubby had lamb vindaloo and I had lamb butter masala. Note the food on plates is about half of what you get, one combo would definitely feed two ppl.

Flavours of India provided food for our day before the wedding party for 80 guests in our backyard. The food was excellent. The restaurant was helpful in delivering all the food. It was all reasonably priced, and there was more than enough food for everyone.

When googling this place, it seemed weird to be in a residential area. Once we found the place, I think the outside does not do it justice. But once inside the decor is nice. The staff were helpful in picking out dishes as 1 of us does not like spicy food and the other does. The food we chose was amazing. The appies were great - veggie samosas, chicken pakora. The main course was delicious-coconut prawns curry, coconut rice and garlic Naan. Bira Lager and a Longwood beer. I have nothing bad to say, ok, maybe dim the lights a bit. But besides that, it was fabulous. Great food. A definite must to eat here.

Worst experience ever. We came here all the way from tofino to have Indian food because there were no Indian restaurants there. This was the first restaurant showed up on google. We went in and servers were not at all happy, were so confused. One of them asked me oh why you are here? And I replied to eat something . Then she said ohh sorry we are going on our break now so we can t serve you. Then I asked when you guys will be back from your break? She said after an hour. Never heard such things in any restaurant. At least change the sign at the door you guys are closed. Thank you for wasting almost an hour of our day. Because that restaurant is in downtown. Glad we went to another restaurant and had best service and food there.(April 25,@ 2:16pm)

We decided to try out Flavours of India last night. My niece from Switzerland loves Indian Food and wanted to celebrate her last day on Vancouver Island with an East Indian Meal. We were not disappointed! We greatly enjoyed the atmosphere and the very friendly service. And then the food came a feast for the eyes and taste buds, served in tasteful copper containers. One plate of Pakora appetizers was plenty for four people. The portions for our other dishes were equally generous, delicious in flavour, and the medium spice had the perfect level of heat. In addition, the meals are reasonably priced. We certainly will be back, for dine-in as well as take-out. Well do e, Flavours of India!

We get food here every week. Since the dining room opened (instead of just take-out), we ve had a bad experience every single week. Almost immediately the portion sizes went down substantially, one week we got watered down butter chicken (it was seriously WATERED down it tasted like curry flavoured water), the palak paneer is now consistently red instead of green (because there s hardly any palak spinach in it) and yesterday they gave us naan that tasted like cardboard. Seriously: CARDBOARD. It was so tough (and old and stale) our kid couldn t even chew it. I m not joking. I was afraid things would change when they opened the restaurant (because we were such huge fans) and it s probably a bit worse than I could have imagined. I thought it may have just been growing pains, but this many weeks in it seems probably that the kitchen/staff/space/ordering etc. are stretched too thin with the dining room now.

Lovely place !! Couldn t eat here on my first visit since the restaurant wasn t open for dine in but the second visit was sweet !! Chicken lababdar and mix vegetable is on point !! Good quantity and nicely made and presented! Had a good meal. Will definitely come back for more !!

So I had ordered food for takeout, and thought when I go to pick it up I would have one order of Gol Gappe with my family. We all were pleasantly surprised with the new renovations, and after we ate one round of Gol Gappe we really wanted to dine in. (We were a little hungry.) The staff were very accommodating and changed our order to dine in, and we added another dish to our meal. We had Tandoori Roti, Naan, Rice, Baingan (Eggplant) Bhartha, and Malai Kofta with Raita. Our meal was medium spice and it really hit the spot. We all enjoyed every bit of it. The nice thing was that the Bartha did not have any oily residue floating on the top; as most restaurants will. I will definitely be coming back, I know my go to spot for Gol Gappe cravings in Nanaimo!

Lived in India, the UK (top notch curries) and Malaysia (huge Indian population) this curry hit the SPOT! New favourite for SURE. Total comfort food and a good price.

Another great experience at Flavours of India. I used to get take out from here, and now they have a dine in space too, beautifully renovated, fully accessible washroom, amazing service and excepcional (and large) portions. Didn t get time to take a picture, the food was to good to wait. Wheelchair accessibility: Has a ramp and accessible washroom.

Delicious food. A good place to stop by to grab a bit when you are off the ferry. Great service and friendly staff.

This was like the worst indian food I had lately on the island :( they have super pricey menu but such a bad taste.

Showed up to pickup my order and staff tried to convince me that I cancelled my order. They told me that they received a call cancelling my order right after I placed it from the same person. Obviously I did not cancel my own order and then show up to pick up. Staff did nothing to resolve issue

This place is worth visiting. Their food and customer service is way better than other places. This restaurant is always clean. We are welcomed with smiles. They deserve more than 5 star rating. Food was amazing this is the further Indian place from my work but prefer this one the meat seems more infused with sauce then just tossed in a sauce to serve they forgot to give me rice but they were very gracious about fixing it

Excellent portions and taste! The staff was very friendly too. The place was nice and cool with a pretty lightning. The food was more than enough for 4 people, I will say it could even feed 6 people.

Came in 30 minutes before closing with my family on a day trip to the island and we had to make it to the ferry in an hour and 15. The hostess Simi told us that technically they couldn t seat us due to it being past seating time but seated us anyway. We ordered a chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and chicken lambada, with 4 garlic chickens. The wait was short, food was amazing, and service was incredible. We made it to the terminal 25 minutes early with full stomachs and some great leftovers. We were served by Simran who had impeccable service. Felt so welcome in this atmosphere and was a great dinner to have with my family. I m leaving to university in the fall and this was the last real trip we went on. I m glad that this dinner was part of that trip as it is a good memory.

Food was absolutely amazing and wow the taste of the fish Pakora was so delicious. Our Servers (Simi and Simran ) did an amazing job of serving our food with very lovely hospitality. They did a very amazing job with seating us as well, because we came in 30 minutes before closing time it was A little rushed, but the service was great and we will definitely be back when we come back to Nanaimo. WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR GOOD RESTAURANT IN NANIMO!

I bought the shrimp pakora for 17$ minus tax and only got like 7 or 8 pieces of shrimp. Idc how expensive food is, this is not okay. 17$ can feed two people well till they are full. FOI please do better and stop doing this to your customers.

Request to restaurant owner to please fix your menu cards and also offer some water upon arrival.

Water was provided on request. Their food deliver was late and a big gap between dishes. Owner should fix the Menu card, its was ripped.

Good food, good prices, big portions, good service, neat environment. We ordered two dishes, butter chicken combo and lamb biryani. The food quality was really good. Two dishes is more than enough for two people. We ended up with a lot of left overs. They dont accept tips on the machine, so dont forget to bring cash to tip them.

Food was good for sure but pricing was not what the website said it was. When I raised that with the person at the till, she said they were changing prices (which is understandable) but didnt tell me when I called my order in, knowing I was ordering from online menu. Also, the online menu states theres a free naan or rice with every curry. Thats not the case either as they dont offer the naan as an option free with every curry. So I had to buy the naan (didnt want rice). Thus a $17 meal ended up being $22. I was unable to get through to them by direct email (as opposed to an online review) so here I am. while its not that big of a deal overall not being able to discuss this with management / ownership is frustrating. Three days later and the old prices are still on the website.

The food is excellent and the service is also very good. When you order two samosas you actually get Indian Street food (chaat) because the two samosas are covered by a delicious sauce with yogurt and chickpeas. That alone could be a meal but split between two people is an appetizer.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting flavours of india in nanaimo and I must say, it left me thoroughly impressed. The restaurant boasts a fantastic ambiance that beautifully blends modern and vintage elements. The service was top-notch, with the staff being attentive and friendly throughout my visit. A big shout out to rimmi & simmi. The menu offered a wide array of delicious food options, and the quality of the dishes exceeded my expectations. My favourite is desi style chicken. Perfect stop for Indian food in nanaimo.

Very bad service

Great food and generous portions. The prawn tandoori was amazing. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

This was our first time going. On the whole we enjoyed our takeout meal but it was not perfect. By far the standout dish was the Methi chicken, perfectly seasoned and spiced, the sauce stuck to the chicken and was just devine. The rice was cooked well and came free with the purchase of each curry. The naan was also great, just the right amount of ghee. We found the Yellow Dhal Tarka was a tad watery and the Tarka underwhelming, the lack of spices in the Tarka meant that all we could taste was lentils and tomato, all of the other spices were lost. We also ordered the Prawn Jalfrezi. I absolutely love a good Jalfrezi. While the prawns did not disappoint on the quantity and we asked for indian hot (this was definitely provided), we found the dish felt a little lazy. The sauce was much wetter than it should have been, it should be thicker and richer, the vegetables were crunchy and not cooked into the sauce, as well as overly large. It was such a shame as a good Jalfrezi is a lip smacking thing, with heat, spices, its should be zingy and sharp, and this was not that. It was nice, but it could have been so much better. All in all, the staff were friendly, courteous and welcoming. The experience was good enough that wed go back again, but wed want to try other dishes.

They don t have consistency on their food . I had chole bhature one time it was good . Than I tried same food next week it was totally different flavourless. Their food quantity was good but quality they need to work .

I don t know what s wrong with their food quality now. It used to be the best but now it s so bad. Reply for your msg: I ordered chicken tikka which was flavourless with no salt and I found glass piece in it. Manager was not there so I talked to the staff and all they said was I m sorry I think it came from some thing in the kitchen. The staff did offer a complimentary dish but after I almost ate glass, obviously I won t eat there anymore. At least provide the refund for your mistake.

Excellent food! - Lamb Seekh Kebab - Soya Malai Chaap - Methi Chicken - Paneer Kadai Great quantity and delicious food. Very authentic.

Should be changing their name to flavorless india. Gave it a chance. Man the reviews were right. Food is bland. Go to another indian restaurant in town or youll probably be dissapointed. Reply to owner: as stated food was bland. Lacking flavour. Probably the least flavourful indian food i have ever had. I got mild but that doesnt mean no flavour. If you think spice level is flavour then your food really sucks and you need to relearn how to make food before continuing to do so. Shouldnt have to ask for my food to taste good by request. Wont be back. Clearly youre clueless.

Vegetarian options: We loved Gravy Manchurian. Everything was excellent and genuine quality. Kid-friendliness: Excellent dine in quality.

Some of the best Indian we ve ever had. Portion size was decently large too, service was good. The saag was especially tasty, as is the cheese naan bread. Would definitely recommend.

I had the butter chicken, lamb mango both came with rice. Tandoori chicken wings and onion bhajis unreal. Service was good and owner came out to speak with us was really friendly. Would 100% come back and recommend thank you!

Their Chicken and rice dishes are excellent! Chicken is incredibly lean with big generous pieces!

Sadly this was my FAVOURITE place for many years. But once they changed from the smaller place, my mom and I have had mediocre meals and horrible service. Not sure what the big change is but its not up to previous standards.

Service is too bad. Workers are mannerless and rud. We complaint for food and they reply like gravyes are same so we cant do anything there attitude towards customer are very rude .

I was go for dinner with my friends and they didnt attend us and there way of talking was very rude and the service was too slow and when we complaint for food they said all the gravies are same so we cant do anything and we are eating the food and they turn off the lights of dinning area.

Our order was missing items. A credit was given but when phone to order they denied our credit. Manager never told us there is a 2 weeks deadline for credit and just because she had left. Owner didn t not honour it. Will not return. Take out.

We order a lamb biriany and they gave us beff we live away from their restaurant and we called to ghe restaurant and they say they gave us lamb which is not. Is not the first time we buy lamb biriany and we know perfectly how it test. The lady on the phone is asking us to bring the food back when we are half hour away and telling us on the phone (is up to you) bcuz we insisted that wasnt lamb. We consider she was quite rude over the phone rather to get an apologize was an attitude of arguing. So sad bcuz we were just waiting for them to open back as is from the only place we used to like to buy Indian food.

4 of us had dinner there last night and it was fantastic! The service was amazing, food fantastic, and the seats/table comfortable. They are no longer take out only (we got their food often from take out) and we are so glad to have the opportunity to have their wonderful food hot off the stove! Well done, Flavours of India!

I love fish excellent cooking

Not a big fan of Indian food (cant stomach the spicy), but to me the food was incredible and 100% worth it. Had a lamb kabob and a mango lassi, loved every bite. Garlic naan was also excellent. Definitely one of the best places in Nanaimo

As I grew up in Delhi, my love for chole bhature is unconditional. I acknowledge that flavours of India has the best Indian food on Island. Great customer service, probably the best Indian food I have had so far on a reasonable price. Keep making the good food, I ll visit more often. Thank you so much.
