Basic Sysco food. Nothing authentic here. I had a better chicken Parm at Rickys

It was our first time coming in for breakfast. Charlotte was great and very attentive. A+++ service. We all tried different thing and it was all good. Definitely a must try - the breakfast pizza quiche and the waffle Bennys Also, and the portion sizes were great.

Just had breakfast, which they started offering in October 2024. We tried meat lovers pizza quiche, waffle Bennie and Italian (3 egg) omelet. ALL WERE WORTH IT! Big portions. Will come again to try other items.

Whenever we take a trip to Nanaimo we always stop here and love our lunch

Showed up at 4pm without reservation refused to serve us telling us completely full for tables of 6 at 415pm im not buying that terrible service will never come again bad first impression... joke company

This is a very popular place so wait times to get in can be 15 minutes or more at peak times. The food is fabulous of course.

I ve lived here 2 yrs & have heard a lot of good things so finally decided to go 2 mths ago when my son was visiting. I won t go back!!! We waited no less than 2 hrs for our meal, nothing special - I got a Gyro which takes 5 mins to make! He had the seafood linguini. I had to go to the bar for service, the restaurant wasn t even busy. We saw so many tables in our area seat, get served, ate & left before we got served by the same waitress. This was by a 20 yr old female long blond hair waitress who forgot to put our order in, no concessions for waiting so long, I finally had to speak up nicely due to the completely unnecessary extended wait. The waitress was too busy visiting with her female friends & for them 1st priority who were a few tables over. They came in long after us & left before us. Wtf?!?!

The owner charges employees MSP to customers... This is the owner s responsibility, not customers. Also, at least let the customer know beforehand rather than forcing customers to pay for the MSP. Its 1.5 percent, not a lot of money, but it adds up. Also, what are you doing with the surplus of this 1.5% tax you put on customer.

Food was amazing

Im convinced the baked ravioli was from a can. Frankly, it was a repulsive meal.

Four of us went for dinner tonight. The Greek salad was not good. Little to no feta and had a strong vinegar taste. No spices. Worst Greek salad I ve had in a long time. The Costco salad is even better. My 7 oz New York steak was rare and not medium rare as I requested. Had to spit out a bite because I couldn t chew the grissle. Never had a New York like that before either. Last time there I had the lamb and it was ok. Not great. The bill for four (2 teen girls) and 2 seniors was $155 and we didn t have any alcoholic beverages or desert. That was after they took off 10% for the bad steak. You re looking at least $60 a head for dinner a drink and dessert for below average food. Don t think I ll go back. May as well have gone to the Cactus Club down the road for that price.

Food was great. Nice to have some gluten free options. Staff is great. Dietary restrictions: A couple of gluten free options. The GF baked spaghetti is awesome!

Took an out of town guest there. The food has lowest quality ingredients. NOT ITALIAN AT ALL. Sauce was gross. my best guess is campbells tomato soup straight from the can. Meal was replaced with exact same sauce. Nothing was done about it. I guess I should have trusted the reviews !!!!! Horrible experience.

Maybe its better in the restaurant, but dont order take-out. Maybe the worst pizza ever! The delivery was slow, the guy got lost, and then just left it outside on the side walk. negative stars!

It was busy for lunch rush, but were seated quite quickly. Service was slow, seemed understaffed. The food was decent, not great, but also not bad. They also included a 1.5% MSP tax/fee on the bill which wasnt mentioned beforehand. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible entrance and parking

Haven t been somewhere in a while that didn t want to take my money. Advertised you serve breakfast, but then I m told for dine in only?? I was also told, this only applies to breakfast. Too bad, because now I will never come back to this restaurant to try it. I am on my way to work and wanted a quality breakfast sandwich, not something from a drive thru. Guess there s not much of a reason to stop here next time I m travelling through.

Went by myself on nov 15/24 for dinner. Ordered the beef ribs. I have had before earlier this year and they were tender and delicious Not this time. Dry, grissly, very little meat on bone and not falling off, dried on sauce.Had to ask for a steak knife to cut. Very awkward to cut as this little bit of meat so close to the bone. Tried picking up and eat off the bone but thats not a good look and awkward. I asked for extra sauce to help situation. The awesome server did offer to take it back to redo but l declined (as lhave heard cooks can get annoyed if you know what l mean) didnt say this to her though. She did take 20 % off which l appreciated. On a side note l had the pork ribs in the spring and they were dry and tough. Got a 10% discount for that one. I am .not hard to lease at all but these are almost$30 meals. The servers are wonderful but the cooks need some refinement.

NEW OWNERS BEWARE! We have been going to Milanos for years. Our lovely server tried her best but our food took way over an hour and it was cold and awful. We complained to the Manager (Owner) who in turn blamed the young server instead of taking responsibility for the lack of quality that we were used to. It s so disappointing but we unfortunately wont be back! Milanos you had a good run!!!

Made a reservation for 5:30. Arrived at 5:25 and was informed that my group had already been seated. When I explained that my group was standing behind me they were dumbfounded. They had without checking given my reservation and quiet seats to someone else without checking name and phone number. Fortunately they found us another table. Unfortunately it was right beside the kitchen that was so noisy we had to speak loudly to the people across the table from us. Not sure if I will ever go back

Quality of food has gone down recently. I ordered pizza, the toppings were burned. We tried 2 more times still it wasn t good. Pizza used to be really good here.

Went to Milanos was promptly seated by friendly front desk staff. Sat for 25 minutes and watched server after server walk by totally ignoring us. The table next to us had two servers. No drink orders taken, no food orders taken, no service. This was the first time I tried Milanos. Got up left for Boston Pizza where we were seated right away and served promptly. The wow factor was large but unfortunately in the wrong direction.

Was there for lunch. Server was great as was the food. Order was ready quickly, allowing me to get back to work on time!

Yes, it was a Tuesday. Pasta night, although that wasnt deliberate, it was a birthday. There was one waitress, and she was incredible, but woefully incapable of handling a whole restaurant (who could). Whatever you do, dont have the carbonara. I could have used a straw to drink the sauce. Perhaps the kitchen watered it down, I have no idea, but I didnt have the heart to complain. My fellow diners said the lasagna was very good. But still, its a restaurant Ive been visiting for years now, and standards were always very high. Oh, and beware the rude man who answers the phone if youre trying to reserve a table in the morning. Apparently, he doesnt work there. You have to talk to the Host, if that person is available. If not, youre out of luck. Perhaps go elsewhere, I dont know. But frankly, he didnt seem to care one way or another. Usually, I wouldnt complain. But it rather took the edge off an evening with a lady who had turned a tidy 77.

The restaurant is noisy and service for a sandwich and salad took a very long time . Over 30 minutes. The food was lukewarm. The kicker is that we paid medical fees for staff. Any business that makes over 500,000$ has to pay for msp I will never go back to Milano s. They pass it on for patrons to pay. Disgusting

I ve been having steamed spaghetti with meat sauce for every time I ve been to Milanos, and I ve been going for my entire life. I love this place and highly recommend it.

Jackie served us and she was amazing! Apparently she s worked there for many years and it s obvious that she is passionate about the food and the restaurant. We had pizza and it was so delicious. I wish we had a restaurant like this in Kelowna. Thank you Jackie for making our lunch memorable.

The waitress was very slow. and didnt come to check on us to see how we were doing or if we wanted anything else. We sat and waited close to minutes for her to bring us our Bill.

The menu looked amazing, but the food didnt taste as good as it should have. Although the appetizer menu was extensive, we ordered 5 different ones and I didnt really like any of them. The portions were very big though. I didnt have the pizza, but Ive heard its good and it did look good.

Too salty

I was very excited to try Milano s on our trip to Vancouver Island. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. My son ordered the spaghetti and meatballs which had an odd flavour. My fettuccini Alfredo was okay but nothing special. The waitress never came back to ask how our food was and we had to flag her down for the bill.

This is not real Italian food. The pizza was one of the worst tasting pizzas i ever had. Bland, under-cooked and way too much cheese. Server was nice and friendly, no complaints there!

Just had a magnificent meal at Milano s after trying it for the first time. Our waiter was Jordan who made the experience even better. Polite, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Couldn t have been better. We will be returning again and again. Well done Milano s, whoever owns this place is doing things very well!

went here Tuesday at opening. Asked for the minestroni soup, and a slice of garlic toast.The soup was delicious and if I were to go there again, I would absolutely get it again, but the toast was a bit overdone, and I was charged 2.20 for the toast, figuring it would come with the soup. I would get a bowl of the soup again, but not the toast.

Good food but they need more waiters

Do Not order anything that is not Italian. Worst Gyro i have ever had. Didnt even eat half of it. 4 tiny strips of meat with almost no sauce and a couple tiny piece of tomato and onion. Pita was tiny. About the size of a single small taco. Caeser Salad was the only edible part of the meal. What a joke. Had to make something to eat after. Staff were friendly and people eating pizza seemed to like the pizza, but I wont be back. Also its so noisy staff cant hear you and the place is super slow to get your order etc.

Resturant does not stand behind they food or quality. Had bad experience with the food and service was terrible. Tried to give the restaurant a chance to make it right but no one to talk to. Emails dont get responded to. Disappointing..luckily there are lots of other great restaurants in Nanaimo. This one is just not one of them. Wont be returning.

The most Riveting time here last week, the service and the staff were outstanding

Second time in a short time frame and we wont be going back. While our server was kind and friendly that did not make up for the mistakes. We had a party of 6 and my meal was missed. I was told it would be discounted and it wasnt. I ate after all my family as it took so long to make. Our drinks were never topped up and the kids were never given their ice cream from their kids meal. Overall not great and we wont be going back. Which is too bad because our food was yummy. Over priced but good.

Food is always good. Unfortunately we were there when there was only 1-2 waitresses so service was a bit slow.

Meet my Mom here often. The service is always great. We often have a personal pizza or one of the yummy sandwiches. The fries are especially yummy.

Amazing food

The worst service Ive ever experienced on Vancouver Island and I dine out a lot for business! They even apply a surcharge labelled on your bill as MSP but dont tell you! Our server (Trinity) took drink orders and upon letting her know the beer arrived warm, she advised us that they are all like that. I explained that maybe put some on ice if you (theres no bartender) take it out of a room and the beers warm. She just walked away. Needless to say, we tried to accommodate ourselves since the server was not interested and had to chill the beer by using our water glasses. The server even seen this and didnt seem to care. Wow is all I can say. I cannot possibly imagine the owner thinking this is ok. I did try calling Milanos to make a complaint on the service (this was on thursday morning) and its now Saturdmay afternoon with no call back. Clearly the server has learned poor service from her manager. I wont be back!

Parking: Really busy 5-7 most nights Food

Other people recommended this place saying how good it is. So we went there and it was ok. Nothing exceptional, just another restaurant with ok food. My wife had to send her meal back, as It was cold. What I had, the meat was rubbery so to speak. I doubt well go back.

Big menu so everyone can find a dish to their liking. Space for any size group. Food was delicious. Great service.

We ordered two different salads. Neither one was what I would call a decent salad. My partners was the Milanos and had too much dressing on the salad and the dressing had too much garlic. We were not charged for this one. My salad was the Blues salad and consisted of about 1 cup chopped iceberg lettuce and 4 quadrants consisting of chopped red onion with the tough skin left on, blue cheese that was good, about 1/2 slice of bacon chopped up, and about 1/2 tomato chopped up. Also 1 small container of blended (costco?) quacamole and another container of a white dressing. All in all way too many onions in proportion to the rest of the salad. Oh yes and it was topped with one small sprig of green lettuce.

My husband was given a gift card here, we very rarely go out to eat, so decided to take the kids for a dinner out. My husband has the lasagna, which he quite enjoyed. My youngest had the kids pizza, he loves pizza but couldnt even eat one slice, he said it was the worst pizza he had ever had. My oldest and I had the fish and chips, one bite in I KNEW they were the boxed frozen fish (Highlander maybe?), absolutely gross. The fries were ok. The service was awful, never asked for refills, never checked how we were enjoying our meal, etc. It was nearly empty but we were seated beside a party of 14 (so loud). Definitely will not go back. Only bright side, my husband with the iron stomach will try to power through the 3 boxes of uneaten food we had to bring home. Thank god, it was a gift card and not my own money.

Be Aware - you are being ripped off Please read and check your bill - they have hidden fees inside I went thru my bill and realized that there was a 1% charge of MSP - in my bill . This is day light robbery when you charge a customer without his knowledge. I asked what is MSP - it is medical charge which the company pays for staff and they are recovering it from customer - How dare you - you have lots of seniors coming to your restaurant and you are taking advantage of them - we give 15-20 % tip for service and now you are recovering part of your labour cost from customer - I was told they have a sign about this charge which was behind the reception desk. I was annoyed, i didn t ask how the percentage worked ! By the way , the milano owners this amount as revenue

Used to go here now & then with my parents & it was pretty solid every time. This last time we went it was really rough. The food was just not good... 3 out of 3 main dishes were bad. 1) Lamb Shoulder that was just back rib & fat. Mediocre veg & potato. 2) Spinach-Feta Quasedilla was soggy & undercooked. 3) Steak that tasted like an old burnt grill. I get having a good sear taste, but it tasted like an old uncleaned backyard grill. Two of the dishes came with garlic toast that was just sad looking. Soggy with no taste, just greasy. Can only complain oh so much when you eat most of your meal, so we paid & left. Probably going somwhere else next time unfortunately. Oh well .

Terrible - terrible - terrible. Heard lots of good things about Milanos. Last night we went for a meal out. My wife ordered the seafood fettucine to find a long black hair in the food well cooked in the cheese - and my pizza was probably the worst I have tasted in years. The seafood pasta was canned seafood and tasted horrible - even before we found the hair. We returned the food - but still got charged. Then the bill was incredibly expensive. Not a good place to eat. We will NEVER go back.

Quick and friendly service. Got the chicken fajitas. Chicken was cooked well but under-seasoned, over powered by the flavor of the salsa and peppers.

Original Post Early 2023 We went to Milano s two weeks ago and we were disappointed. We have been there dozens of times but this time it was terrible. The special was very small portioned along with the calamari appy was cold and was the smallest portion I have seen for the place. At $16 it added up to almost a dollar a piece. The chicken was advertised as two pieces of breast meat but I didn t expect them to slice one small breast in half and call it two. I also don t like the fact they charge the MSP tax even though they have raised their prices and made the portions smaller. It is time to find a new favorite restaurant. Update April 2024 We have given them another chance and they have returned to the top of our restaurant list in Nanaimo. We have been back twice now and are very happy with them again.

Excellent as usual

Came here for dinner with my elderly parents. The food was wonderful, but they need senior sized meals. We tried to order a child size spaghetti for my 80 year old mother, but they wouldn t allow it. Maybe even a 1/2 sized portion would have been ideal. She ended up leaving more than half of her spaghetti. It s too bad they don t have senior size. Also I am not sure why I was charged a MSP charge? This must be new.

They were extremely busy , we did not have any reservations and they accommodated us ( a party of 8) was excellent service and a great overall experience.

Family style restaurant, friendly service, great comfort food, big portions, not much else to ask for. Ordered the poor Italian, was big enough to feed the family lol. 2 different types of pasta, loaded with sausages, and the sauce was just a bit spicy to really boost the flavours. I also tried a bit of the lasagna and man, that baked lasagna was so amazing, Im definitely coming back to get my own next time. Parking was a bit hard to find though during lunch hours, but worth it.

Really great food and service. Large portions on the moussaka. Potato skins were great lots of cheese but had very little bacon on them. Thats the only neg of my first experience there. Will definitely be back.

While the food wasnt especially remarkable, it certainly wasnt bad, and the portions are very large. The menu is one of the largest Ive ever seen, so its not hard to find something that looks decent, its just hard to pick which one. Wings were solid, burger was very good & there were some unique options available.

We have been dining here since it opened and love the food. Have always had pizza delivery for family events. Tonight we called for delivery and were informed they no longer do delivery. We ordered anyway and went and picked it up, probably the last time we grace their door. 1 medium pizza and a side salad was over $45 including $4.50 for DELIVERY, was this the fee for the person to walk the pizza from the kitchen to the front counter???? Always good quality food, just getting too expensive like everything else in life.

Went there for lunch with friends. We were greeted promptly and by a friendly hostess. Our server was at our table soon after us and asked if we would like some thing to drink. Our drinks arrived and she inquired if we were ready to order. Our food came and it was delicious. Great place to go if you have not been. We went back a week later. Same happy lunch experience

Food was delicious and generous portions. We had a lovely server and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

We were a large group and our service was prompt and very efficient during a busy lunch. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the portions were large enough that a few of us had plenty to take home!

An ok eatery and we eat there often due to an elderly family member who likes it. Food is typical heavy stuff like pizza and creamy pasta - consistently average but good. On my last visit I asked if they had espresso (it is an Italian place...) and was told brusquely that, no, they only have coffee. Im quite sure that espresso is coffee...

Accessibility is okay. Theres no automatic doors, but the curb cut is near the disabled parking and the restaurant. Youll need to call and make a reservation telling them you need the lower area. The bathrooms are accessible. The server was great and there is so much gluten friendly food! Dietary restrictions: Very gluten free friendly. Parking: I was told it can fill up fast, but there were plenty of spots when we were there.

Good always consistent food and service

Expensive sub-par food. Claims to be Italian yet has a ridiculous inflated menu full of nonsense. Unfortunately this place does well in Nanaimo simply because the locals have no idea what good food is. Bland flavours are desirable by the elderly after all.

Mediocre food, friendly but slow service. Your moussaka is too dense because of the badly cooked potato slices, it has to be fluffy, try the one at Asteras, it s far better and they don t use potatoes in theirs. Also your calamari appy is too small, after 3 bites the meal is finished. Go easy on the onion slices in your Greek salad, it should not be the main ingredient. I don t mind the tacky design of the restaurant especially during Halloween and Xmas, but your dishes need major fine tuning!

Always an amazing experience at milanos, the server was super kind and very understanding of my 4 year old giving his own order. Food was fantastic. Portions have gotten a bit small but still very tasty. The dessert tasted amazing. We had a wonderful time.

Dropped in for an early diner on a Friday. Jacks was fabulous, the food was hot and tasty and the desert was just what was needed to round off a lovely hour at their location. Highly recommended. Wheelchair accessibility: Level entry and staff are quick to adjust as required.

As always the portions are huge, well done and super fast.

The food was good but there was a couple of issues with the service. The server was polite and prompt, but failed to show any empathy when I severely burnt my tongue on a spinach and artichoke dip. They did not tell me that it just came out of the oven. When I brought it up later they were unable to really hear it and immediately started explaining it away. All I wanted was a little bit of acknowledgment and care. Otherwise the food was excellent. Vegetarian options: Decent vegetarian options.

Love it here, atmosphere is a little traditional, but no other complaints.

We got 3 basic pasta dishes totalling more than $80. Spaghetti, Ravioli & tortellini.. I expected the food to be great based on reviews and (price). Three of us are left extremely disappointed . My father has eaten here before and raved about it. Tonight he ordered with us and all three of our meals were horrible. None of us could eat any of it, including the garlic bread which was somehow rubbery.. We all ordered extra meatballs and only one of us actually ate them. All three pasta dishes were terrible and smelled horrid. I hate leaving bad reviews, we eat out frequently and are usually happy with our experiences. Unfortunately we won t be giving this restaurant a second chance..

Customer service was great . Beer was really cold and the Pizza seriously was 9/10 . Tell them Pogi Steve sent you in .

The owner of this restaurant is a terrible human being - he treats other members of the public who work in a customer service capacity like garbage. Hes berated retail clerks by telling them hes the customer! and expecting to get his way because hes yelling. Shame on him for being so despicable and rude. I will not support this restaurant in the future - I cannot believe he is such an ignorant and disrespectful person.

Fantastic! One of my new favourite places to get pasta and soup. Their minestrone was amazing and their baked spaghetti is unmatched. Highly recommend
