Mambo Gourmet Pizza in Nanaimo

I admit their pizza is good, though I don t live it as much as others. I m giving five stars because of the pizza and the fact that they own up to their mistakes and make it up to the customer and more.

Very good pizza, delivery drivers are always friendly.

Best pizza in Nanaimo, hands down.

I like the XL pizza, it lasts me two sometimes 3 days. The doe and the sauce are delicious, which makes a good pizza. The toppings are reasonable portions.. They also sell single slice for that lunchtime crowd.

I mean come on. Its Mambo.

Ordered at 6pm, wait time quoted of 45 min for delivery (3km from store). Just shy of 2 hours for the food to arrive. This isnt acceptable for me. Called in to ask after 1.5hrs and was told I hope nobody told you 45min, its just coming out of the oven now The pizza is solid but well over double the quoted delivery time is a deal breaker. Too many other good options in town that give accurate delivery times so I can plan accordingly and not be left with wrecked plans due to dinner not showing up in time. Delivery driver was a nice guy though.

Love you guys! Always my go to for pizza and my go to on nights where I just dont want to cook. VERY happy slices are back so I can sneak in a cheeky slice without the family knowing. Cant say enough about how amazing your pizza is!

Literally The BEST pizza in town. BUT, Waited OVER 2hrs for a 12 inch pizza after being told it would take 1hrs. When I called for ETA as it was over double the wait time, the girl over the phone said it s just coming out the oven now . Like at least update me or something?

I ordered a pizza at 5pm, was told it would be delivered in an hour. Waited.. coming on two hours and no pizza or phone call to say it s going to be late. I call to follow up, explained that the pizza should have been here an hour ago and there was no apology.. nothing, just what s the address and put on hold. Came back on the phone and was told it should be there shortly. Customer service is really dying isn t it.

What happened to you guys? Used to be the best pizza in town and now its a shadow of its former glory. Since when have you been Sold out when people call for a pizza. Super lame. This town has gone into the shitter and youre swirling the bowl with the rest of the losers in this has been city. Note. To answer, real review. Multiple negative experiences in the last two years. Ive been in to get slices from time to time, and the quality and selection of pizza is also a shadow of its former self. When I ask the staff if anything else is coming out of the oven they sneer at me with their reply of no. And in regards to the old, cold slices I did get, nobody offered to warm them up for me like the old days, and when I asked, again I get the sneering attitude from your employees.

Website shows the prize of pizza $29.50 must be for beef one but I chose chicken so when I went to pick up pizza from store the price should be after 10% discount as it says on website but guy still charged me $28.50. I asked me if this price was after discount he said yes. I didn t argue because on website it says santa fe spicy $29.50 so I was like ok whatever. After coming home I called the store to confirm about 10% discount and explained everything about how much I got charged and lady on the phone says while laughing that you want me put dollar on your account for next time. There will be no next time. You can keep that dollar for tip I guess you deserve it for what type of customer service you provide. To the owner- Please educate your staff more about maths and then customer service. Pizza was good but without good customer service good food ain t good.

Have loved Mambo s for a long time. Today I had terrible service. Ordered online. After taking a long tome got a call from Delivery people saying they had been knocking at my door for 10 minutes. They were at the wrong place. We re laughing about it. Nobody has ever been to the wrong place in the past using Google maps. Called and person on the phone was very flippant and said well what do you want us to do about it. Said they would send out another pizza but I m heading to the ferry so not possible. Very disappointed and looking for a different place to order from in the future.

I love yalls pizzas immensely and buy pizza from nowhere else. I just ask that you change your open hours as I called to order a pick up at 9:40 and was told immediately upon greeting that we are done for the day despite being open until 10. I understand yall need to pack up but maybe bring the closing time forward online so you dont get the hopes up of your loyal customers :)

We started getting Mambos pizza about a year ago after a co-worker had some leftovers for lunch that looked delicious. We got XLs a few times so we could try a bunch of different choices until we figured out our favs. Weve done delivery and take out. The delivery can take a bit, but I literally wouldnt expect it to be any faster since we live in the north end and they are a busy place! Ive been picking it up the last few times when I get off work and its awesome there is a take out discount. I saw another review about how the crust was soggy - the first time I picked it up, I stacked the pizzas and the one that was on top did have a soggy crust by the time I got home. The times since, Ive put them single file and have not had a soggy crust with the same pizzas, so I know that was my fault and not theirs! Their new location is super cute and always clean. The workers are always very friendly and attentive. And the pizza itself is probably the best tasting Ive ever had in terms of toppings, amount of cheese, crust, and sauce. Just an overall wonderful pizza experience! Keep up the awesomeness!

Showed up at 9:15 on a Saturday, they were closing down. Everything stated they closed at 11 pm. Only had pizza by the slice available but the staff didnt seem to want us to order it nor did they want us to enter.

BY FAR THE BEST PIZZA WEVE EVER HAD!!! We ordered Mambo Pizza for the first time today after reading so many fantastic reviews and I have to say that they 100% live up to their reputation. My hubby and I couldnt stop making yummy noises the whole time we ate. Their homemade dough is PERFECTION! The best dough combined with a generous amount of toppings and a reasonable price, cant beat that. We will not be looking any farther for great Pizza cuz this is IT! P.S. Its even better heated up in the oven the next day :-)

13 of us were looking forward to having, what we heard was, great pizza. On line it said you were open. We called and the voice mail said you are in a cue, stay on the line. But we were close so just drove over ,but you were closed. I originally rated it a one star but changed it to a three as the owner replied very quickly and explained the problem was holiday hours. Very impressive. Unfortunately we can t go back today, but I definitely will try it out.

Great service and the GOOD pizza!

After hearing so much about the pizza here, and after my wife s first hand experience earlier this week, I must say that my expectations were quite high. Well, sometimes it is better to come into something with low expectation. I found the sauce very tasteless, and the crust was ok. Lots of toppings is a good thing in my book, but not when the crust was moistened by the toppings (or, perhaps, by the condensation in the box). At least I can say I tried it out after all these years, but I will not come back. Just plain ok to my tastes (and pizza is my favourite food in the world).

Best pizza in Nanaimo, likely in all the pizza I ve had! Their gluten free crust is incredible, just like the real deal (my kids and husband never know the difference). Delivery service is always with a smile and so friendly. The kahuna and the bbq chicken are our favourites for sure, but the bacon burger also wins rave reviews from the kids. All around great place for pizza in Nanaimo! Truly Locally owned and operated as you ll see Marc and his wife working hard alongside their team, meeting the demands of the many people who crave their delicious pies. The crust is delightful, their combos are creative and oh so tasty. The pizzas are huge and fair priced considering the cost of food these days. I particularly love that you can please the whole family by getting 4 different flavors on one extra large pizza. They still deliver for free within 5km and the charges are minimal outside of that radius (plus the fees go straight to the driver for fuel costs). Oh, and if you d rather save the fee and pick up yourself, they ll put a 10% discount on your order. This business is a real gem and well known in the area for Best pizza in the city!

Today Mambos was the official food supplier on moving day for the Nanaimo Unitarian Shelter... the cooks are tired from the move, the kitchen isnt ready but Mambos came through, helping us feed 27 shelter guests. Calling in to place an order I was immediately met with pick up only which usually means they are real busy. Placed my order and headed over there. While having my pre pizza left handed ciggie I saw 3 delivery drivers with full bags rushing around. One of them being the owner. Homie had to deliver to a place, only to have them call him mid delivery to comeback cause they wanted a refund. I dont know the details and its not worth getting into. Owner being the baller he is offered them to keep the pies with the refund but even that was met with contempt and denied the gesture. Love the pizza, staff are great and Mambo is the leading reason as why I see only weight gains instead of loss and Im not angry.

Having experience the big chain pizzerias in the lower mainland as thats where I am from, the pizza here exceeded that. Also, the girls working there were friendly.

We will NEVER order from here again! I just received the wrong order for the second time while doing an online order. We ordered two half and half pizzas both different and received two of the same pizza. We called to inform them that something is wrong with their online ordering system and received the most ignorant customer service I have ever received from any company! We have been ordering from Mambos for years and absolutely loved their pizzas but their customer service is absolutely appalling!!! They even went as far as to blame us and I quote we will not be replacing your order because this is the second time this happened with you guys and we will be out money are you kidding me? I paid $80 for my order, excuse me for expecting to receive what I ordered and paid for! We have been such loyal customers, I cant believe they would blame us and talk to us that way after the amount of money we spend there. Well take our money elsewhere! Update: you called and apologized an hour after calling me a liar and speaking to both my husband and I very rudely! We have ordered from you for years and Im absolutely appalled and insulted at the way you treated us. I am glad you looked into the issue AFTER you read my review and called to apologize but that does not negate the way you treated us. You should be ashamed! And you are still blaming us? The way we treated you? Are you kidding me? I had every right to be upset, you called me a liar. Also this is the second time in a row this happened to us. Keep treating customers that way for YOUR FAULTY ordering system and Im sure many more will leave regardless of whether or not the food is good. I hope you learned something from this!

Voodoo Delight casts a spicy spell, Hangover cure, the flavors swell. BBQ Chicken dances on the crust, The Weekends blend, a savory thrust. Helpful and welcoming staff who turn out great food. Ive historically had one negative experience with Mambos (which they worked to make right) as opposed to dozens of positive ones. Glad to have such a great pizza place in town. Food : 5/5

So Im a big pizza guy from sasky home of regina style pizza (Google it for reference) but this has to be one of the best pizzas Ive had traveling across Canada! Not greasy, good crunch, generous toppings and piping hot fresh even in a snow storm! You fellas have been saved for next time!

Ridiculously overrated in Nanaimo, it s just your standard independently run pizza joint Their Hawaiian is decent, but I absolutely despise the type of pepperoni they use . It s better to stick to the small dry cured stuff every corporate chain uses.

Its been two months since weve had Pizza from Mambos and we still cant get over how awesome they tasted. Even now every thought of them is so mouth-watering! Easily one of the best pizzas Ive ever had and sadly here in Germany theres absolutely nothing that comes close to that. Would come back to Nanaimo just for that pizza.

After trying to call them for over half an hour I show up at 930pm on a Monday. They close at 10pm. The lady inside rudely waves about how she has cleaned and its closed. Food is delicious, but this is not cool... What a waste of a drive. Why lost your hours till 10pm and not answer a phone and close early?

If you want two for one pizza, then go somewhere else but if you a quality pizza made with real in house dough, sauces, freashly cut veggies and a large selection of goodness on a your choice of a 14 or 18 inch pizza.

Very good pizza, just dont eat on site, take away or order is okay... Its just not geared towards visitors on site, so is the service, but its okay if you know it. Pizza was ready quite quickly and really good for the money.

You know trying a pizza place can be so stressful and I was!! When you know you are feeding your family and pizza is important to them. Ordered in advance for a specific time and it was 30 minutes late. After reading reviews and hearing everyone rave about the place we had to order and were pretty disappointed. It was a very non exciting pizza and did not make me want to come back. It was pretty cheap though.

Half the time I was charged delivery fee and I m within the range. I stopped ordering because of all the problems it caused! At first i didn t even notice. Make sure and pay attention to your receipt when they deliver it.

Great local family owned pizza. Only reason Im not giving 5 stars is that they are regularly sold out of pizza for the day. Im writing this at 920pm on a Saturday night as I just tried to order from them and they are sold out so Im going to one of their competitors. EDIT AFTER OWNER REPLY: I really do want to give Mambos 5 stars. Ive been going there for 20 years. They had good vegan options way before it was cool to do so. But at the same time, if I went to sushi restaurant at 9pm on Saturday and they said Sorry were out of fish I would leave a similar review. Wishing you the best, Mambos, and youll still be my first South end pizza choice.

Assuming I hadnt had the $, not the most polite staff. Only when I found my wallet did the staff seem surprised and regretted the prejudgment call, even insisted that I not tip.. which having been in the service industry for years, is an important part of wage. I tipped and acted oblivious to the way I was judged but always remember not to judge a book based on the cover/think you have been in the service industry for years now so it is obvious that you will be able to pay or not-just give everyone the same service and respect. It is called a customer service industry for a reason. Service of the customer.

Best pizza on vcr island barr none

I had the gluten-free pizza best crust I have ever had so far! The taste was amazing! I loved that I could have a half and half choice. The size was great! I will be purchasing my pizza from here from now on! Rave to offering gluten-free!

Best pizza in Nanaimo by far. Tried 4 different options on one xl pizza. Jalapeno Popper was very spicy for those that like a kick. We had a pesto pizza that was amazing. A dill pickle pizza that for anyone who loves pickles like I do it is a must try. And of course the hangover which is a classic Ive been having as long as I can remember. Overall an amazing experience and great food.

I was looking forward to a preplanned Mambos pizza dinner for days, as the best reward I could think of for getting through a stressful thing I had coming up in my schedule. I was correct, it was the perfect treat. Ordered the vegan all-dressed - I asked my husband if he was absolutely sure he d picked up the right pizza because the cheese was so cheesy! - and he said yes, they took extra time to ensure it melted right. Best vegan pizza around!

Im disappointed... Because I dont live on the island, so if I want to come back, I have to buy a ferry ticket and travel for over two hours to get here. Hands down the best pizza Ive had, which genuinely surprised me. There are a lot of people that say gourmet pizza but I think this place really means it. The sizes are huge and the options are kinda wild. And for the first time I genuinely enjoyed eating the crust on a pizza, I usually eat the crust only cause I feel obliged to do so . THE ONLY THING THOUGH, I wish they had a bigger store so more people could sit down and eat. But take-out and delivery is always good too (less cleaning for staff to do).

Mambos consistently has the absolute best pizza in Nanaimo. The customer service is fantastic, its locally owned by someone that really cares about the community. A fantastic business and delicious food! Add on the sweet garlic dip, heavenly!

Just had the worst experience weve ever had in all the years at Mambos Pizza. Whoever is working there is rude AF !!! Im just blown away. From missing items, to a rude person on the end of the phone when we called, to a condescending person that dropped off the missing items. Weve never felt so unappreciated as a customer. And for this we will never be back!!! Loved the food, NOT the service. So disappointed

thought id give it a try after hearing all the good reviews, but i honestly didnt find anything special about it. we tried 2 different kinds too. i was hoping it was the wood oven kind or something but nope nothing different from what i could get anywhere else.

Usually a cant miss but tonight they must have been having an off day. Pizza crust was chewy. Toppings were good though. We will continue to buy your pizzas

Mambos is our familys most ordered pizza. Although I did ask for no mushrooms last time and they had alot of mushrooms showed up. Im still gonna order more pizzas. Cuz they are that good, and accidents happen. Definitely always recommend this place.

I was out from Ontario visiting my son and we decided to order from here on a Friday night. My son had heard the pizza was good. Im not going to lie, the delivery took over 2 hrs and we were not pleased. That said they were very apologetic and even compensated us by giving us a discount. Now the most improtant part. I actually felt guilty not paying full price and would have waited 4 hrs for delivery if I had of known how good that pie was going to be!!! LOL.... Well done guys and I cannot stop bragging how good that pizza was. BEST EVER!!

Ive ordered here a dozen times now. 99% accurate and 100% phenomenal tasting pizza. Dough isnt too thick or to thin. Generous amount of toppings. 18inch for the pizza fanatics that cost about as much as others 15inch larges. Crew is amazing and fast, its like the staff actually want to be there, probably due to great ownership. They also have a large selection and some unique flavors. Jalapeno Popper pizza is my personal favorite. Its only missing chicken. Only suggest moving into a nicer location and franchising. I would franchise one of these for sure. Theyve since move to a nicer location!! lol (They sold out on me, thats how good are.)
