Stayed in the hotel figured id give rickys a go Burger was very greasy and not cooked properly and the fries where awful very overcooked an somehow cold and tasted very plain, considering the place was empty I would have thought it would have been cooked nicely instead of rushed Didnt even finish the food and didnt drink the beers that I ordered with it for an extortionate price Gave me a terrible food poisoning I was up all night, going to make my long drive home awful Service was good lady was friendly atleast

Came here for breakfast with friends and waited an hour to get our food (didn t order anything extravagant) and the place was not busy at all and they had ample amount of servers. After finally getting our food most of it was cold except maybe the hash browns, kinda hard to eat cold eggs Benny.

Driving by my cell pick up every where I go never went in was on highway .

I was staying at the hotel so stopped by for dinner. I had a tasty burger and the house salad was quite fancy loaded with all kinds of extras. Staff were attentive, service was quick and the atmosphere was pretty quiet. Overall, a great meal for an excellent price.

NEVER GOING BACK. Waited for an hour for our order and then the server informed us that there was a mess up in the kitchen. The server took our order but never entered it into their system. She came back to tell us that she is going to enter the order in the system but wanted to confirm with us if we wanted to wait. We asked her to cancel it altogether and she said I thought you may say that . Please choose some other place for your food needs.

The food was great...same as my local in parksville! The service was great...it was my birthday and I was brought a special treat. Now for the not so good.....somebody please take some time to do a detail clean! The windows in and and out were less than desirable. If this is not done cani suggest offering erasable crayons to your window adjacent patrons so they can connect the dots/bird poop while they wait. The floors could have done with a tidy after breakfast service but this could have been due to a lack of staff. May I suggest the dishwasher clean the floors...and then you can up his tip percentage! Happiness all around. My parents love your location..and you make them happy...so this is why, other than the housekeeping...you run a great place..

Chicken burger and fries excellent tomato basil soup excellent French onion soup dreadful - no broth nothing but tons of soggy bread and cheese and no flavour.

Went to Rickys twice in one day first time went in order French onion soup lets say it wasnt even close to being French onion soup was tasteless 0 second time went in order steak asked for it be medium rare well it was raw when I got it wasnt seasoned at all services was horrible as well definitely will not be coming back or will recommend this place to anyone waste of money

Jim you wanted more details..... Our server took forever to refill our drinks. We had one tequila sunrise and one long Island. Both tasted like syrup from a fountain pop machine. We shared a starter of Cauliflower wings. There was a hair in the batter. My partner got the Ruben sandwich. He returned it because it was so incredibly dry it was inedible. Our gravy looked congealed and had three soggy fries in it. My burger was a mess it was all over cooked patty and soggy tomato. Im sorry you felt my review was snarky I am legit telling people not to waste their money. It was a terrible dining experience (and we chose this place because our boss got us a free lunch....what a bummer!!) I stand by my review. Do not recommend.

Food poisoning. Better off to starve. I ate breakfast here. Eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. 2 hours later I feel my stomach start churning. As I board the ferry I realize Im having an emergency. I go the bathroom and have the worst experience. As ferry goers enter the bathroom I hear comments like wheeeww and Jesus from encountering the toxic cloud Ive created. It didnt stop for 2 days straight. Thanks Rickys. Days later and Im still recovering.

I have to start this out by saying that Rickys used to be one of my favourite restaurants and I was really looking forward to eating here. Every time we drive by I said that I needed to get back there. Last time I went to Rickys you could order breakfast for dinner and thats what I was looking forward to. Apparently thats not an option anymore, so I had the all you can eat fish and chips, my son ordered the 8oz original burger, and my partner ordered the california chicken burger. We all got beverages as well. The first thing we noticed was that the fries were dried out and from what we could figure, had been sitting there for a while. My son ordered the 8oz burger but received the smaller 6oz burger. Luckily thats what he was charged for. His tomato in his burger was hard as a rock, had a core in it and tasted terrible. He literally almost threw up in his mouth after tasting it. My partners burger had an absolutely tiny chicken breast in it and very little care was taken making the burger. The avocado was all on one side and she had to open it and spread it around properly herself. The whole wheat bun was flavourless and dry. Well, not flavourless, it tasted really old. My fish and chips were so greasy that it soaked through the paper liner on my plate which I apparently ended up eating a decent portion of because it was stuck to my soggy greasy fish. The plate was served without lemon, which is a must with any fish dish, and without an offering of vinegar. I decided to be brave and order another piece of fish. I asked the waitress to ask them to please let it rest so it wouldnt be greasy and it came out much better. This time I asked for lemon and decided to try the fish without tartar sauce. Unfortunately the fish was completely tasteless and mushy inside the batter and the batter was unseasoned and bland. Luckily I had the tartar sauce to give it all some taste the first two pieces. We werent offered a refill on our drinks until we were ready for our bill. On a side note, the table across from us barely ate their food and was obviously very displeased as well. This is the first time I have ever wanted to warn the people coming in the door to go somewhere else. Its a real shame because Rickys used to be my favourite place to go for a good meal. I cant even say that the quality has gone down hill because there was no quality present.

Had the fish and shrimp deluxe and it was great .The waitress was amazing and super friendly.

Such a disappointment!! From food to servers, really bad experience. If youre charging $20- $25 for a single item of food that describes the ingredients in the menu, make sure its true and worth it. The food was nothing like the menu. Moreover had to wait an hour or more to get our food :( The servers didnt even bother to come and ask if we need anything or hows the food! Would never recommend it and wont be visiting ever again.

I love their food. They give such a big portions. Our server was super nice. Her strawberry milkshake was the best one I ve ever had.

They hubby and I often go here because it s close to home, normally there is no real issue there but this time we went ( last night) my burger came out completely undercooked and very pink and bloody inside. The server was very apologetic for what had happened, so reason for this low rating is because of the undercooked food and No discount for the inconvenience of them not cooking my food right, normally if that happens in other places they at lease comp the meal they messed up .

This restaurant is certainly one of our favorites in town. Wheelchair accessibility: It really looks awkward for a wheelchair but I was dropped off at the front door & just needed someone to open the restaurant inner door. Clear sailing from there on.

Had the chicken tenders-SO GOOD!All our meals were delicious and our server Sidney was amazing-sweet,helpful and accurate.And the views,as always,are top notch!

We went on a road trip and noticed they have a Rickys in almost every city we visited. We figured if it was that popular we just had to try it out. Im so glad we went! The food was fantastic and our waiter ( I wish I could remember his name) was very friendly. I would definitely reccomend this resturant!

Excellent food, big portions, always fresh and recently made. Sandwiches are fantastic, chicken club, veggie burgers, regular burgers. Its all good there. Kids meals are cheap and good in size and quality. Staff is fantastic. Just limited selection of drinks, and the typical island chilled and slow service could be in the downside. It worth the wait, that I think is long, and should be improved.

Waited 20 minutes for a coffee to start with and 50 minutes for the food. Only had people at two other tables i know why now eggs bennie was disgusting

Waited 30 minutes and the tattooed waitress didn t even take my order. I watched 4 people that came 10 minute s behind me finish there beers and order a second round. I highly recommend not eating here if your a visible minority. You ll be treated as if you re invisible.

I love that no matter which Rickys I go to, the service is always above standard! Ive never been to this smaller one in the hotel, but the atmosphere was great, food was AMAZING, the server was super polite and friendly, and it was fast to boot. Nothing to complain about, I will definitely come back again and again

Mother had fish and chips and liked it. I had the lasagna. Clearly heated in microwave then tossed into a salamander to brown. Edges were hot the center cold.

Service was amazing. Was trying to make a ferry and the Head cook and Hostas where very understanding and food was ready in record time.

service is so incredibly slow, 1 server for 3 tables but it took an hour and a half to get anything. we ordered crispy bacon and it came out uncooked, hair in the food and the server tried telling us it was fluff comped the food with hair in it but charged me for cold fries and uncooked bacon. will not be returning.

Good quality has gone down hill badly. Used to be a decent spot for burger but now grease city, old wilty salad etc. Went there April 14, 2022 and Had the fish and chips, should have been called batter and chips it was greasy and horrible. Salad had limp grey slices of carrots on top of it. Wont be going back.

The food at Rickys All Day Grill inside the Day Inn Wyndham hotel was great and amazing. They were very nice and welcoming guests. I ordered original burger sandwiche with tossed salad. Food was very delicious and yummy. I would definitely recommend to go and enjoy the food. Also, great ocean view inside the restaurant.

They have a very good stake dinner but I do think the stake could be bigger as in wider and at least a inch think like a ribeye steak

Tried the philly cheesesteak it was good and the au jus on the side was an interesting touch to the dish. The fries were awesome and crispy but a tad under seasoned. Nice views and can see the water quite well.

Got breakfast takeout. I appreciate they are busy but they forgot the stuffed hash browns and toast. The food we did get was okay. Called back to ask about it and they just take the phone off the hook. Never going back.

Waited so long (over one hour) for our order only to find that the food hadnt even been started yet. Saw a few other parties leaving as well with no food. Washroom was nice though. Handsoap smelled delicious.

Nice tomato soup

Good food at a good price. Had the Liver and Onions for dinner. Back the next morning for a Chaffle breakfast. No sure why is Ch? Could be cheese?But it was a yummy egg waffle with veggies and bacon mixed in. A salsa that was yummy. GF and Keto friendly.

Bad service

TERRIBLE SERVICE and RACIST establishment for the second time in a row. We went on Oct 2nd morning around 1030 the lady that s greeted us was very nice and was not the problem. Our server was very cranky and not welcoming at all we sat down. She threw the menus on the tables didn t ask us how we were doing or anything, then me and my gf ordered a coffee and water. She left to take payment at another table then seat and greet another and then FORGOT THE TWO THINGS WE HAD ORDERED. She came back got way too close to both of us and was in our face and asked us again what it was that we ordered, again a coffee and water. Left and went to another table and started chatting with them all nice and asking how they are doing as we haven t been asked once yet (this happened at all the other tables talked very nicely to them laughing etc. except us, difference was we are two coloured people and all other tables were white). Finally drinks come to the table she puts down two waters (we had ordered a coffee and water not two waters), coffee doesn t make it to the table and doesn t ask us if we are ready to order but continues to other tables. The restaurant was not busy as well at this time. To the owners of this establishment you should be ashamed of your selfs allowing servers to treat people like this in todays day and age this is absolutely unacceptable and this will be reported to the better business bureau because this was unacceptable. DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT WITH RACIST SERVERS!

Terrible place to eat service very bad

Ive worked in the restaurant industry for half my life and this was by far the worst meal Ive ever eaten. Correction, I didnt eat it. The schnitzel was almost black Either from overcooking or old cooking oil. The prawns were so salty I couldnt eat them. It was really disgusting. I cant believe whoever is cooking is allowed to cook back there. The only bright spot was the the wine and the servers who were absolutely lovely.

Might be good if you could get service. I stayed at the hotel so thought I would try it. After 15 mins of waiting for service my friend and I left.

Staying at the hotel here, so Ive eaten here yesterday and today. Had the same dish. Yesterday it was plentiful and tasty. Today it was thrown together and missing ingredients. Yesterdays server was decent and attentive. Todays server was clueless and not capable of handling more than 2 tables. He repeated my order to me and brought out the wrong dish. He repeated other instructions that I had asked for and got them wrong. I waited 15 minutes for a refill of coffee. Was charged for 2 orange juice when I only had one. And the floor shakes. Like literally shakes. The restaurant is built on a deck or something and the floor is not stable so the whole time youre sitting there you feel like youre actually out on the open ocean on a ship. I wont come back to eat here.

If you are reading this review before trying this restaurant, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Couple ladies that were working this morning, saw us, made eye contact and didn t say anything. That happened 3 times before one of them finally acknowledged and said will be with you shortly which took another few minutes. Probably waiting for at least 10 minutes, all the window table were dirty, with some of their cleaning supplies on top of it. After being seated, it took another few minutes, then the waitress finally came and apologized for the waiting. Then when I got my food it was cold and she never brought the orange juice that was ordered. The breakfast was included because I was staying in the hotel, however the orange juice wasn t included so she charged and made sure before handing me the machine to pay, it had the add tip screen on, which obviously after the awful experience I didn t tip anything which made her even more disengaged. Nothing good to say about this place

We were staying at the Days Inn, and Rickys is located in the Hotel. Rickys is currently providing the breakfast included with the room, and it was great! Really good maple smoked bacon, and the service was top notch! We also had dinner. Chicken fingers, and a burger with salad. The burger was really good, and salad super fresh! The only thing is that due to covid the menu is somewhat restricted. I really was looking for a steak, and there is no steak of any kind on the menu. Other than that, really enjoyed the food. Staff was upbeat and friendly too. We would eat here again without hesitation!

Expensive 47 dollars for 2 people food was good but for the price Id much rather Montanas or cactus club

I have been looking to go for breakfast with my wife for 18 months due to the pandemic and finally they opened . It took 45 minutes to get and was cold and we never even got what we asked for they said we should understand as they are very busy with product coming in but the restaurant was near empty then they explained skip the dishes is crazy . SO STAY HOME save your money !!

Absolutely terrible. Wait staff was great but the food could have been made by a 3 year old. Definitely need new cooks.

My husband wanted to order from here on fathers day. I was hesitant because the last two times we ordered there was either missing or incorrect items. I gave in and ordered him the Philly cheese steak and 2 Callifresco salads for me and my daughter. Picked up the order and when I got home discovered that the salads had no avacado, no cucumbers, no tortilla strips and barely any tomatoes or feta. Called the restaurant and they said they had a trainee working. Sooooo....whats your point? Your trainee is your responsibility. You should be checking their orders before they go out. You should be supporting your staff and not blaming them or using them as an excuse. Shame on you. Was on hold to get a gift card and hung up on. Fine with me. Never going back again.

Best Stuffed Hash Browns and Bennies in town.

We waited for a very long time at the door while the waitress just kept walking by us. After deciding to quietly leave the waitress decided she would tend to us. I explained that it was just taking too long she then became EXTREMELY RUDE. This only made us realize that leaving was the best choice. She then turned around and started loudly complaining about us not wanting to wait for 5 minutes (we stood there for about 15 waiting for a seat alone) Very unprofessional environment.

There was a bit of waiting to get seated and waiting for our orders and juggling of who was serving us initially. Our order, a club house with salad, a bltc salad and a Lousiana Beef Po-boy. It took awhile for our food to arrive and then our waitress told us she was handing our table to another person. The clubhouse was enjoyed. The bltc salad was about 20 percent less in volume than the last few times we had ordered it but was good. The Louisiana Beef po-boy was not good. The house salad was however. Their salads here are generally good. In the description they say it has an artisian bun, it wasnt. It was a regular long bun and it wasnt toasted enough and it was almost immediately mushy. There wasnt any horseradish aioli that I could see or taste and there were not any crispy onions as it says in the description. In a regular beef dip there are slices of beef but this was more like a pulled beef. Which is fine but there was a weird taste that made the whole thing taste off. I asked about it and the waitress said she thought they braised it in red wine. Thats not said in the description either. The one thing is there was a decent amount of beef, regardless of how it tasted. I told her it wasnt very good and didnt receive much of a comment from her on that but aside from that she was friendly and so were the other two who served us.

Decent portions and pretty tasty food and value. The restaurant seemed like it could use a good cleaning. Our table had a vacuum cleaner right next to it which wasnt very appealing to eat next to.

So disappointed. Waited 50 minutes for appies and hour for our main course. There were only 4 tables being served and our appies came out cold and our main courses were undercooked. The only positive was Jeffrey the server. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had family from the Yukon trying to take them for dinner and this is how it turned out.

Service is lackluster. We checked in the hotel and ordered our food, they told us to come and pick it up after 20 mins and we ended up waiting an extra 30mins (server told us its coming out already) for the food to be picked up for a total of 50mins. We tried their: Lasagna (3/5) Serving is really big. Awesome garlic bread. Poutine (3/5) Serving is really big. Standard poutine flavors. Southern-style Chicken strips (2/5) Portion for this order is really small and very sad looking. Flavor is ok. Chicken Bowl (2/5) Very sad looking bowl with the chicken strips above that is just cut into pieces. Flavor is ok.

First time dining in with the new restrictions staff handled smoothly and made it easy. This location is nice for the view, not as packed/busy, and the coffee is better. Staff were very friendly and attentive. All around a nice place for brunch.

Best Ricky s restaurant on the island. When I moved to Victoria 13 years ago I was excited to be living close to one.. It did not compare. Food always tastes amazing. Although have only had breakfast here.

Only place in town (Nanaimo) that Ive found which serves Chorizo at breakfast. 5/5. Have been, and will be, back again.
