"Absolutely delicious! The seafood noodle soup at Truong Thanh 2 in Nanaimo is a must-try. The broth is rich and flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and packed with fresh seafood that tastes like it came straight from the ocean. The noodles are cooked to perfection, with just the right texture, and the portion size is generous. The dish is beautifully presented, and the ingredients are clearly of high quality. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall amazing dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic and hearty Vietnamese seafood noodle soup!" 💝💝💝💝💝
I my wife and I are now not feeling good after eating this. I decided to leave a review because it felt like the restaurant was mad at me or intentionally did a poor job. Our spring roll was just tossed loosely in the bag with the rest of our order leaving oil over everything. And the salad rolls had nothing in it. I would complain about the soups but in the end would just be my opinion (was not a fan). See pictures of the last time I ever give this place my money.
Ordered a vegetarian fried rice. My husband was 100% specific about NO MEAT. Drive all the way home to some gross cheap meat in the rice. He even picked out the correct item on a menu and they still got it wrong. This is not the second mess up and won’t be going there again
Don’t walk. RUN and get their special Bun Bo Hue! Such a rich hearty broth, but not heavy. The server is a lovely lady! So glad there is quality Vietnamese food in Nanaimo.
I had chicken and prawns with vermicelli and my friend had the prawn chow main. They were good. Want to come back and try their pho next time.
First time in Nanimo, and was fortunate to find this authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Service is quick and friendly. The pho was tasty, good quality, and good portion. I like that they have a spring roll or salad roll combo with a pho. Great for one person, instead of ordering a full side. I will definitely be trying their Vancouver location as well.
I had to change my review after ordering a second time within 2 weeks. I ordered the same thing, #31. The noodles where severly undercooked, and I believe what is PIG SKIN WITH HAIR was in my soup. (It's beef and a noodle dish) I didn't touch the meal after this. The food safety/quality is questionable if you have food allergies, or religious restrictions. Maybe you just don't want to be surprised by an unknown hunk of BOILED HAIRY SKIN in your meal. My husband had a side of "deep fried prawn" the first time we ordered. (It was battered and deep fried fish cake) Be wary when ordering here.
Vermicelli spring roll & pork bbq is made without "mỡ hành" and peanut, fish sauce mixture was quite pale to adapt local's taste. Generally, it is quite delicious but not exellence as expected. Prices are set at upper range compare with other similar restaurants. One more option to think about, anyway.
It s been one of my favorite places and I come back often but today when I ordered my regular meal there is not enough topping at all compared to the past, hope you will keep the quality and being my favorite pho place to go
I consider myself a pho lover, I promise to bath in it one day And easily this is the richest and most flavorful borth in town as we as having the best quality meat I believe they cook the broth for 18 hours and the amount of meat in it is great I dont even add anything but chili oil for spice Truly blessed to have such pho in town
Had their number 52! Best price really great quality
I love the food here! Its the best and most authentic Vietnamese food in town.
Great Vietnamese food!
Best pho in town I have found so far. Great service and awesome location with a little grocery attached.
Everything is excellent
I ve had their food a couple of times and I feel so welcomed there and the food is amazing!! And the price is so good, one of my most favourite restaurants in town
Amazing, authentic and cheap food! Ordered the pork banh mi and a beef pho and was not disappointed. The meat in the sandwich was tender and so flavourful and pho broth was light and came with all the fixings! The lady that took care of me was a sweetheart and I barely had to wait! Paid 25$ for a full sandwich and a huge portion of pho, even if I had ordered a large! :)
Food was good
I was missing a good pork dish so this was awesome! Ill certainly be back again.
The food was good but please tell grandma that you can t prep the chicken on the floor of the market. It is unsanitary and actually illegal. Please get her a prep table to use.
Food is so good
Authentic Vietnamese food made by Vietnamese. They are a lovely family, and Im glad to keep supporting the locals! Vegetarian options: Yes
Excellent vermicelli with pork and deep fried tofu... Best restaurant in Nanaimo? I think maybe! Food : 5/5
We used to frequent their location in Vancouver for YEARS before we moved to Nanaimo. Incredibly delicious, high quality and fresh ingredients. Weve tried the Bahn mi, beef stew, pho, chicken wings and some of their rice dishes too. Easily and anyone who knows their Vietnamese food would agree. We feel so lucky they opened up in our neighborhood. A must try!
As an avid pho lover I would rank this up there as one of the better bowls of pho in nanaimo. The gentleman who took my order was very patient, kind and accommodating. We ordered two soups, mine in particular isnt necessarily on their menu ( veggie and tofu with beef broth), 2 extra broths, and two orders of pork spring rolls which were decent as well. The food was ready for pick up in a timely fashion, packaged nicely and still hot when it made it home and the staff were welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend!
I ordered a meal off the menu and they brought me something else stating that the item I ordered was not on there menu and they do not make it , so I had to pay for what they brought me, I ordered a soup instead that meal was just ok , but the bad review is for ordering an item and getting something else and I had to pay for there mistake , was such bad service, hate to make these but we all said there food was unsatisfactory, so I will not be going back , very disappointed with how they handled this situation.
Verry good
AMAZINGLY AUTHENTIC (aka delicious and savoury) Vietnamese dishes! Best Vietnamese Ive ever had... (besides my sister-in-laws homemade pho and bun bo hue, of course! ) Highly recommend Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian section on the menu I believe.
Tasty food and excellent service
Incredible Spice Sate 2 pho restaurants on the island rival Pho Goodness in Vancouver if you like spicy sate.. 1) this place 2) Pho Tru in Victoria. Thank god this place is in nanaimo food is terrific!
We were excited to try it for the first time. However, the customer service was horrendous. We ordered ahead of time for pick up. We arrived on time. The order was not ready, so we waited patiently. Its been 40mins over since we ordered, so we followed-up. But the lady staff at the counter was mean/rude to us. Meanwhile, she treats the white customers in a very friendly manner.
I had the lemon grass chicken on rice, and it was delicious. Its so nice to have authentic Vietnamese food in the neighbourhood. This place has the best Vietnamese food in Nanaimo.
Good value for the price
The food look good, price ok but the taste of my dish today was not as good as it should be. I have duck bamboo noodles soup today and the soup was alright but the sweet and sour duck salad was a bit too sweet, the dipping sauce also too sweet, I referred traditional ginger with fish sauce for duck dipping. Will try others dishes next visit.
Wow, Ive been here twice now and really impressed with the quality of the food, its authentic, fresh and fabulous value. Delicious! The service is friendly, attentive and make you feel like family. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have their first location in Vancouver and have been in business for many years so they know what they are doing. Theres a Vietnamese store attached to the restaurant so you can get ingredients and Vietnamese staples. We were able to get fresh jackfruit and the rambutan looked amazing. I cant wait to go back!
Had #61. Banh Mi Ga Nuong (Vietnamese Grilled Chicken Sub) 5/5 best Vietnamese sub in town and will be the new go to lunch spot. Great value. Food
Terrible experience, will not return
The salad rolls leave a lot to be desired , the soup wasn t much better won t be going back anytime soon . For a new restaurant l sure hope they can improve on service specially the food it was a big disappointment !
They have nice staff and great Pho/Banh Mi at a great price.
We ve been trying a few different Vietnamese restaurants in town and this has been our favourite so far. We were pleased with the portion sizes and packaging. Soup was individually bagged to ensure it wouldn t leak out.
The staffs were friendly and helpful Food was awesome
Bun Bo Hue is the best.
Best pho on the island! Their menu is extensive with something for everyone, but most importantly, the pho! Their broth is delicious and they use fresh noodles. Also, the server was very friendly and attentive!
Great friendly service. Good portions. The Bun Bo Hue, Bo Kho and Com Soun are delicious and authentic. Best in town.
Brand new Vietnamese place just opened up. Very flavorful broths, tender beef, killer shrimp salad rolls. Even better peanut sauce served with them.
This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Nanaimo. Thats no hyperbole or overreaction. We are ridiculously lucky this is here. The owner is from north Vietnam, which adds a different element to the food (most places in Canada are southern Vietnamese -- which is also great food). They dont cut corners striving to make things taste as much like it does in Vietnam; big plates of herbs, very strong iced coffee and deep rich soup broths.
Excellent Vietnamese food! Highly recommended! Food : 5/5
The subs are so good!!!
The banh mi is the best Ive had! Parking: Fair number of spots, shady ones too Kid-friendliness: Cocomelon was playing on the television for a large group Wheelchair accessibility: Parking lot is a touch uneven, but 0 steps to entry or inside.
Most authentic Vietnamese food in town!
Definitely authentic. I ordered the Beef Pho with spicy broth. I think the broth may use pigs blood, has a strong aroma. I was expecting more of a satay spice, maybe more details in the menu to avoid confusion.
Hands-down the greatest Vietnamese food Ive ever eaten. We just finished our first meal from Truong Thanh and it was a spiritual experience of unimaginable deliciousness. I think this is our new favorite restaurant in Nanaimo. Do your taste buds a favor go to Truong Thanh.
