You should really try out our ramen or sushi.
In town on business solo, glad I walked over. Good vibe, and good sushi. Tasted fresh.
Ordered from here via delivery service. Everything was so cold it must’ve been refrigerated. It wasn’t even like the courier didn’t put it in a bag. It was like it was refrigerated. The food wasn’t fresh. I feel like I just paid a premium price to get served leftovers. I ordered the dynamite roll without sauce, and instead of sauce I got some kind of deep fried crumble. if that was on the menu, I would’ve asked for that not to be added as well. Why would a dynamite roll Have sauce and deep-fried crumble? Possibly to mask the fact that it’s not fresh? The negi toro also didn’t taste fresh. If you want fresh sushi, don’t order from this place.
THE best ramen and sushi. When they say "large" they mean large. There was a sweet brunette working, talking to me about music . She had such amazing customer service! I wish I remembered her name! The sushi was delicious, I got the scallops, and devoured it in seconds. Fresh and delicious. The ramen is SO filling, and perfect for a rainy day.
Stumbled upon this restaurant waiting for the ferry, and so glad we did. On a chilly autumn day, nothing hits the spot like a bowl of Ramen, and when it's delicious, bonus! Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
On the island for the weekend and wanted to try this place out for lunch. It's a bit unfair for them since we have alot of good Japanese restaurants back in vancouver. I had the bento box (it literally came out in a box), the food was warm and not hot, especially the ball of rice (this was Luke warm and the exterior was a bit dry). However my friends had the Ramen and they said it was good 👍. Place was a bit small, but luckily it wasn't too busy so they were able to seat 7 if us. Price wasn't too expensive so I wouldn't mind coming back in the future if I visited Nanaimo again.
3.5-4 overall .Enjoyable experience here and reasonable pricing. Came for dinner and had the Bento boxes (priced at $21-24) with an adequate amount of food. Limited seating here and may be harder for larger than 4 groups. Food was good but more of hit the spot type than standout amazing. It's very home cook style than that of a modern/high end style. Would come back here to fulfill sushi cravings.
Tried nana sushi and it was very good. Alaska roll and Tarzan mango roll was fantastic. Fast service and fair prices. It was cold inside, although it’s the middle of winter.
Good sushi but asked for no avocado and everything had avocado on it even though the box said no avocado right on it. Walked in at 5 to 2:00 pm. Door says last table at 2. The woman asked if we were getting it to go. I said no. She told us we would take it to go so we don't feel rushed. I said oh... because the door says lady take at 2:00. She said nothing. Turning away customers is bad business practice. Especially when you advertise last table times and don't want to honour it because you want to go on break. Wont be back.
Ordered food over the phone and came in to pickup, they said it wasn t ready and made me wait an hour while they served everyone else. Not happy given the high prices- used to be a regular but this is ridiculous
Bad service. Young male server catered to everyone else including food delivery before talking or saying hi to me. Food had been ready and sitting getting cold. Bad service.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience here. The food was delicious, reasonable prices and the staff were great. Thanks for the meal!
this place is amazing
Nana Sushi is located in the heart of Downtown Nanaimo in British Columbia, Canada. It is a fresh and delicious Sushi food. Japanese foods and dishes are on the menu at Nana Sushi. Its worth visiting this place because of the excellent nigiri, miso ramen, and spicy rolls. I highly recommend to visit and try various foods.
Great food and service. I had a better experience when I asked the server what she liked most. Kid-friendliness:
This place is the bomb! There is this sweet little South Korean boy who works there, and he is just the best!
Well made sushi & ramen. It was such a nice experience. When you hungry during trip or walking around, visit there without hesitation!
Young fellow named Roy helped me find my way to the bathroom and resupplied me with toilet paper as I ran out. He also helped me up after I slipped on a puddle of water from the sink. The food came out lickity split and was scrumptious. 10/10 would recommend
Delicious!
Hole in the wall, but the food was fantastic
Quinnie gave us best service
Best sushi Ive had on the island. Have it as many times as I can whenever Im there.
Small and very busy. Food are great, and big portions. Will visit again for sure
It doesnt look like much from the outside, but they definitely know what they are doing inside. The food was fresh and delicious and very reasonably priced.
I ordered some tuna and salmon Maki, and they were the blandest things Ive had in a while And wound up biting into a huge chunk of fat (I think) in the salmon Maki...
Delicious food, great service by Lily! Totally recommend visiting this restaurant when in Nanaimo!
Picked up my order of nigiri and got back to my hotel room to find that 3 pieces are missing. The receipt shows that I was charged for it, and I left a pretty solid tip, but when I called back, they suggested I walk 30 minutes back to them so they could make it right. Will have to settle for sorry this time I guess. The quality of the food I did get was average, but the nigiri is quite literally half the size as most other places Im used to and even costs a bit more. When youre claiming you have the Best Sushi in Nanaimo, your game needs to be a bit stronger.
Always a good experience here
I have been here 3 times. This time I came because Bistro Taiyo was closed. The shrimp tempura is perfect. The tarzan mango roll was good but falling apart. There is no real separation between the kitchen and the restaurant other than a counter so its very warm in the restaurant. The wooden seats are not very comfortable. Some cushions would be nice?
Finally a good ramen restaurant in Nanaimo I come from Montreal and the restaurants here in Nanaimo are not very good and disappointing in my opinion but at nana sushi wow I was super impressed with the veggie broth Look no further for good ramen I tried the new creamy vege ramen and it was really good Clearly Im going to bring my friends from Montreal to this place Vegetarian options: Two choices of veggie ramen
Always the best
Being from SoCal I had pretty high expectations but they delivered. The rice was fresh, the krab was tasty, and the fish tasted good. They didnt had things like pickled wasabi or more exotic fish. What they do have is a great atmosphere and fresh, well cut sushi.
The chicken teriyaki don was among the best Ive ever had. A great little restaurant. We came across it while looking for a place to eat while charging at the BC Hydro charger in the nearby parking structure.
I ve been here twice since moving to Nanaimo and as a self proclaimed sushi connoisseur, I can confidently say this little unassuming sushi shop does it better than any other. Service is timely, presentation is great, and the atmosphere is how I imagine any good sushi shop in Japan would look, a hole-in-the-wall mom & pop shop with cute decor and pretty blue toilet water. They even have a refreshing high speed fan running in the dining area, which fluttered my napkinz onto the floor when I picked up my chopsticks. But the nice man beside me bent down, gathered them all a-crumpled and said loudly, now you got dirty napkinz, Darlin! , to which the waitress promptly replaced them. Anyways, my favourites are the tempura yam roll, and the chicken roll. I crave them in my sleep and if I had all the money in the world I would only eat here till I die. 10/10
So nice :)
Was waiting for over 40 minutes for two ramen bowls. People came in after us that got food before us. Top it off the water had a funny taste. Not good service at all. Especially for POC.
Food was really good. Especially the bowl and yam sushi
Great little restaurant! The sushi was good, the service great, and the atmosphere Ok. A great place for a quick dinner with reasonable prices.
Please open a chain store in Dantan, Vancouver. (correction) thank you!! I ll go again!! It was really delicious (the best)
Very friendly and delicious! Willingness to return Its 100
Top notch sushi, super reasonable prices
I called in en route to my ferry reservation, said I was tight for time and had not seen the menu yet. Quickly walked me through finding three items over the phone that I would like, and prepared my order even faster than the 15 minutes they said they needed. Now I m sitting here on time in the line up with the first bite of my first roll and a moan audibly escaped my lips in a food orgasm. I don t review often, but I would give six stars if I could. If you have a choice of sushi spots from which to pick, pick this one.
Was astounded with how good the food was. Had the appetizer tempura and the Chashu Nagasaki Champon. The champon broth was so rich and the pork belly was cooked perfectly imo. Staff was great in providing anything we needed. Very quaint little spot to eat. Although , next time I think I will sit further away from the window as I was overheating . All in all great little gem in Nanaimo. Highly recommend!
Food took too long to come I actually had a nap while waiting. Service are very slow and bad attitude. Atmosphere is nice with urine smells at seat Food : 4/5
Always delicious and great service
A hidden gem.
I had the box B for $24 and the portions were great and delicious.
I came with my partner to this restaurant yesterday and we had ordered California rolls and a large tonkotsu ramen to share. Our server, Quinnie, was very welcoming and kind to us throughout our dinner experience, asking us about the food and little talks throughout to make us feel welcomed. I accidentally made a bit of a mess at our table and offered to clean it up, but she quickly cleaned it up for us and politely made an amuzing joke about how she spills sometimes too which made me feel less guilty. Food was good, but the server experience by Quinnie was what made my experience memorable! Will look forward to coming back!
Best veggie ramen I ve ever had!! I ve never been disappointed by any meal I ve had here.
One of my favourite places in nanaimo to get ramen. Can get busy quite fast as its a little small but nonetheless still a great place to eat and the service is great.
A no frills, industrial atmosphere, which I quite like. Tasty ramen! Ill be back Food
Great little restaurant we visited while stopped in Nanaimo on a drive. Super friendly staff and quick service.
I think in my opinion, It was the best sushi restaurant
Was looking for a quick dinner and came in close to closing and they still served me with a smile. It was my first time here so I decided to order the Chau s Nagasaki Jjamppong. It did not disappoint. Very flavorful and seasoned beautifully. I do not know how to cook this item nor the methods used to complete the dish. But it had a wonderful wok flavor that was imparted to the soup base. I do not know if I wok was even used to cook it. The chasu was soft and chewy. The vegetables included in the broth was a nice surprise. I pretty munched finished off the soup base. Highly recommend and would come back. The gentleman server was really nice. Parking: There are a couple of free street parking spots and lots of paid street parking spots
Nice waitress, good food. The rolls are unexpectedly good.
Small little place with great food. Have eaten here many times and had take away as well!! Recommend for sure.
Decent local spot. Food was alright not amazing. They forgot about our order and it came to our table cold unfortunately. Might go back if Im in the area
I really like this place, very cozy, great food and service I recomend it
Drity
The food was mid but Quinnie made up for it. The cutest ever.
Friendly owners and great food
New years day takeout was amazing! Miso soup, Tofu yakisoba, Beef yakisoba, and the Nana Special Tray .. so perfect! There is magic in the yakisoba sauce. Vegetarian options: They taste amazing
BEST DON BURI IVE EVER HAD!!!! I have tried other restaurants for a similar dish and no one comes close! Thank you so much! - Extra broccoli please :)
Best tonkatsu ever
There is a Japanese restaurant in Victoria. The food is really good. The chefs food skills are the best
After we sat down they offered hot tea first thing (a traditional Chinese medicine aproach) as opposed to the Euro-Canadian aproach of water. Meal was very delicious and fresh. Relaxed environment that makes you smile and feel at home. Servers were very friendly. Definitely will come back again! Vegetarian options: On the menu there is a large variety of vegetarian options as well as spicy, very spicy, and creamy roll options.
Great place, good location. The restaurant was a bit cold and not inviting but the food was alright. Overall a good experience.
HORRIBLE service; bad attitudes. Also, after ordering from Skip the Dishes and paying a PREMIUM, no wasabi was included in a $50 sushi order... PLUS prawn tempura was delivered COLD. When I phoned, to ask for wasabi -- they said, NEXT TIME -- we are short on wasabi. This is completely unacceptable. What a horrible excuse for service.
Sashimi was fishy, even the veggie tempura tasted fishy and off. For a $70 dinner it was very mediocre. Sushi Waa is better and has never been such a big miss on an order. I would take my hard earned money elsewhere.
Terrible food, if I want terrible instant noodles I ll go to grocery store instead be much better!
Ultra high quality sushi and ramen in Downtown Nanaimo. Highly recommended.
Im not impressed the food was disgusting Do not recommend
Best sushi for the best price on Vancouver Island, hands down.
Fantastic service and great sushi. A great selection of both traditional sushi and creative rolls
Food is always yummy. Staff members are kind. Calm environment for a social meal. Food : 5/5
I traveled from Vancouver and this is a really good Jjambbong restaurant! I will definitely come again next time!
I love everything about this restaurant. Perfect!
Nice place
Omg the rolls here are amazing!!!! They perfectly fry my gyozas I try set money aside every paycheck so I can get a reward to me sushi dish. Love the family atmosphere in here, makes it an always happy place to be in. Kid-friendliness: Absolutely bring the whole family, your kids can play with theirs!
Great food and service and definitely would go back
Tasty and creative maki and appetizers at reasonable prices. Wild sockeye was available and delicious!
We will definitely go again as the kids and adults liked the food, which is super rare for our family.
BEST RAMEN and sushi
It was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I came to the restaurant as the first customer. I waited over an hour for my food to be done. The food was DISGUSTING. The service was terrible. Food
Understandably popular. Seriously good food!
Cant speak to the sushi, as I only had the chicken ramen. Would not recommend it. The broth tasted weird/off and the chicken was tough and dry. Service was fast.
Best Ramen in town. The spicy broth is great!
Solid veggie roll options
The best Nagasaki Jjampong I ve ever had in BC! Their ramens are great as well. Very friendly owners and I definitely recommend!!
If you read the reviews, you will be disappointed. Sashimi bento is better than super store for the price.
I love Japanese food but this was really fantastic. Every dish was sensational and the price was very reasonable. I can t recommend it highly enough Food
Ordered take out of Rainbow roll with Miso. Barely had any fish on top. Two of the rolls had no fish on top, just covered with fish eggs. Miso was okay, not the worst. Staff was not welcoming, disappointing taste for food.
Great place to order sushi- delicious, reasonably priced, friendly staff
Great food,staff and prices
Very nice small restaurant with a good variety of delicious sushi.
Do not go there for take out. They are super rude when you are waiting for them to prepare the food
Ordered takeout and it was decent but nothing overly special. Was a little disappointed with the lack of vegetables in the rolls and noodles, as the description was misleading. Tastes pretty good but not my favourite place in town, that s all.
Great food, friendly staff, next to a construction pit. The building looks a bit rundown.
Great food, great service, everything was amazing
Their jjamppong is good
Korean owners American style Japanese food
Fresh and Delicious Sushi! Loved the option to have real crab! Everyone was so sweet and got there just in time to get takeout since they close for a long break at 2:30pm.
Everything is good , staff needs to be more welcoming to people! they dont have a great customer service!
The food is the best!!
The spicy tonkatsu ramen is delicious!!
Ordered ramen, nigiri, and sushi rolls. Didn t receive anything until 50minutes later of waiting. Had to mention it to the hostess who had no idea what the kitchen was doing. Realized they were prioritizing mobile/take out orders before seated patrons. Food quality was disappointing for its price point. Don t typically take time to leave reviews.
We were there for dinner at about 5 pm and not much people had dined in. Our order took awhile. For the price of their items, I didn t expect much about it. The taste was alright. I ordered bento box B. The sashimi was pretty good, but the dynamite roll was pretty much filled with imitation crab with tempura.
The sushi is satisfactory
Love the food, very fast service and friendly staff
very very disappointing when relying on previous posts. the portions on some dishes were tiny (sashimi) and then also a little on sweaty side. Dynamite rolls- caution they put some teriyaki and crunch on top that includes soy which one party has allergy. we ordered asking with no roe and responded they dont put anything on no biggie but when called back to advise of issue they were argumentative. in 30 years of sushi never seen topping like that in good sushi spots. pick another place
I was new in town and decided to sample this restaurant purely on the 4.5 star google rating system. When I walked in , the rather rude waitress ushered me to a solo section of the sitting area with full awareness of how cold this section was . To my astonishment all the guests that followed me were sat ( by the same waitress )in a better area while she acknowledged to them hold cold my section was. I was disgusted more so when there s mandatory expectation of a tip. The worst case of reverse racism Horrendous experience.
This place is a little hole in the wall, and filled with charm. The food is excellent! Veggie rolls are my thing, and they have plenty of options, and they are all fantastic!!
This is the coziest Sushi restaurant in town. Great lunch spot. I recommend the Spicy Combo :)
Doesnt look like much from the outside, just like the classic city hole in the wall.It contains our favorite Japanese restaurant. Good prices, friendly staff, intimate atmosphere. Mouth watering food. We saw kota and lots of take out going out the door. The only drawback is the temperature of the room can fluctuate. I always bring a sweater in cool weather.
Google says its open. Front door hours says its open. Its not open Editting review from 1 star to 4 because of owner response. Service : 1/5
Tonkotsu ramen is great!!!
There special sushi is amazing, the others like a Cali rolls and such are just ok. The Ramen is all fantastic
Fantastic food, great pricing and good service. I highly recommend!
Great selection of sushi! The special rolls are huge! The tuna and sockeye salmon was super fresh. Service was fantastic! Highly recommend this spot for sushi.
I ordered over the phone, and was told it would be ready in an hour. When I showed up an hour later, I was told it would be another 10 minutes. It took another 40 minutes to get the food.
Best food, prices, quantities and staff.
Good food and large servings! Their Chasu don is so good!
Best sushi in Nanaimo
One of the best ramen I ve tried! Rich and flavourful broth. Excellent! Love the chashu. However Chashu don in my opinion should not have the mayo on top since it s already fatty.
Best sushi in town fresh, Great service Chicken Danburi is Amazing
I just wanna say, thank you all for the food poisoning, first time I went and got food poisoning, I thought it was a fluke so I just went again and guess what... I got it again
Awesome spot
Sushi very fresh. Service good. Would definitely go back
Other reviews do not lie, the ramen is top notch. Try it with the mixed-veg add-in.
Food amazing! But the Service was Rude. Priced reasonable
very good ramen - pork broth is well balanced with generous slices of pork and properly cooked eggs
We were on our way to the ferry and ordered some take out... We were cutting time close and they went out of their way to rush our order. Everything was fresh and tasty. The tempura was light and super crunchy, even in a to go box. Will definitely eat here again!
Large pieces of sushi and good quality
The food is great. But the place is not that clean and tidy. You can see cob webs and dust everywhere. It makes me wonder how s their kitchen/prep area and sanitation is. It s make me feel sad because their food is great, I hope they will do something about their sanitation.
Good food good service
Love love LOVE their sushi! Tried takeout from this place for the first time a month ago and had to go back again because the rolls I had was so good. The California roll, BC roll, spicy Cali, and spicy tuna roll are extremely delicious! My only complaint is that the spicy tuna roll is smaller than the rest. But for the slightly more expensive price and amazing flavour, I will still get it everytime I get sushi from here because its so darn good!
Food is OK, nothing to write home about. The restaurant itself needs TLC.
Food were excellent. Large portions and great value for money. Food were really delicious. There are only few seats; however, looks big already from how they look outside. Food were served hot.
Great service and awesome sushi
Quick service, not too patient while eating felt like they wanted me to hurry up a bit. But overall friendly and delicious
Will go here if Bistro Taiyo is closed. Good food and great portions. Broth was not as hearty and flavourful as at Bistro Taiyo. We had the the rolls and Ramen. My seafood Ramen was definitely the better one of the two. They have seating outside as well. Seemed like a fairly busy place during lunch hour. Lots of people getting take out. Will try the bento box next time.
Super tasty ramen, highy recommend
Favourite sushi place I ve had, my boyfriend and I go all the time
very decent sushi.
Amazing food and service
To be fair, the food is fine. Kitchen doing a marvelous job. However, this restaurant fails on their service. When I ask more details about one dish, what I was told was it is all written on the menu. Extremely impatient. I would never make a recommendation of this restaurant. I hope the owner can read this and others and improve their service.
Ordered the Large Tonkutsu Garlic Ramen and it was well done. Fried garlic is flowing through it. only downside is the yolk aint the orangey semi runny type. I find the chicken in the lunch special a little tough. Would be great if its grilled instead of fried but aint a deal breaker. Salad and California roll is good.
Great little sushi place. Great quick service. Good food for reasonable prices.
Spent 60bucks got a party tray, i pair of chop sticks, 3 pea sized pieces of wasabi and disappointing food. Don t bother with nana
My absolute favourite place to eat! The tonkostu ramen is my go to
Great Sushi place near Downtown and the Old Quarter District! Really fresh fishes!
Delicious food! The place did not look very pleasing from outside and we almost turned away... but it is nice inside, the stuff is friendly and the food is great!
Love this family owned business! The portions are large, the prices are fair and the service is fantastic.
Authentic, amazing and absolutely yummy!
I was satisfied with both the food and the price. The taste was really delicious, the food came out quickly, and I think it was the most generous portion of any restaurant Ive eaten in Canada. One downside is that from the moment I entered the store, there was a strong smell of urine in the bathroom. I took off one star because of that. Other than that, the music was quiet, the servers were friendly, and everything was good.
Ramen was lackluster, but my standards are quite high.
i really like the food and am extremely happy with the service
Perfect and Authentic Japanese Resto. Not a franchise. Great home made Ramen.
Love the Ramen Nooodle :)
Busy place but so good!
We had a reservation for 12 people, and our party went great. Good food, great friendly atmosphere
The food is great! The portions are great! The service was almost perfect, except she forgot our tea, but it was super busy. I felt like we sat a little bit longer than I would have liked before being checked on for our order, but, all of Nanaimo is struggling with staff shortages, so that is common everywhere right now. The bathroom could have been nicer. The restaurant has a weird smell, probably because it is in an old building.
Best ramen Ive had in Nanaimo, plenty of choices on the menu.
Great vibe in this small sushi joint. Service was excellent and so was the food. Great value! We were stuffed and talked about returning the day after. Highly recommended. 12 year old kid took working there added to the appeal. Add your pic to the polaroid wall!
Excellent Ramen!
Very tasty, cute little place and very fast service! Thank you for the meal!
Honestly I couldnt ask for a better experience having sushi on the coast. This is a cozy little location with quality food. Id love to come here again on my way back through Nanaimo.
Bento box is suggested, the rice portion is super tiny. Undo soup is too salty. Portions are Ok compare to price. Waiting time more than half hr.
Wow. I ordered large hot sake and Nana box for dinner. Honestly it didnt look that fancy but as I started in on everything I became more and more impressed. Miso soup had nothing in it but very tasty. Nigiri sushi, sashimi, and makisushi - fresh and seriously the fish portions are massive. Tempura nice and hot - nice size and thickness of veg and plenty of tempura sauce (I often feel I didnt get enough sauce). Beef teriyaki - the first bite of meat confirmed a perfect char grilled flavour. Ive never had better prepared teriyaki veg. All the sauces are very good - taste made from scratch. On the sweet side but I like that. Thai chili sauce on gyoza was a surprise but great. Service super efficient and quick. Fantastic value for money.
Excellent food, great value, a winning combination!
Just dropped by Nanaimo for the day. I ride my bike and ventured through the old town and went 1-2 blocks in more to get in a bit more to find cheaper prices away from the touristy area and found this little gem. As most places they are finding hard to find help so the limited staff is very busy. Food quality was excellent and the price was as well for lunch box. I would come back again on my next visit.
A nice small place for seafood. Located in downtown Nanaimo has some good sushi rolls fairly good ramens. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because the protein amount they gave with the ramen was less. Otherwise I would love to visit this place again!
Overall very good, sashimi was great, the rolls had a little too much rice but still good
High quality, fresh ingredients and very tasty. Best authentic ramen Ive found in town - inviting semi soft boiled miso egg (note: sweet version). Its now my go to for sushi downtown!
Sushi is very nice and the prices pretty fair. Service is very attentive. Would come back.
Great cozy spot. Top notch fresh food. Great salmon.
Loved it sushi is huge so dont order too much if you dont like leftover sushi lol
I keep ordering from this place when I have a craving for sushi and Bistro Taiyo is closed, but I think I will just have to wait next time. The rice ruins the whole experience. It s really chewy, broken down, and in the end its like a gelatinous sheet of rice meal wrapping what are actually delicious and over generous fillings. I love how much avocado is in the avocado roll, but it s just not a nice experience when the rice is prepared so poorly. I hope you guys fix this, you have a prime location and although you will still get lots of customers, they are learning to love a product that just isnt good.
It was decent overall, however wish our noodle soups were less salty and more seafood would be nice in the spicy seafood champong. There were only 4 prawns and unnoticeable micro seafood that i could found ;) But the flavors were great!
addicted to their tonkotsu ramen! very good prices and selection of sushi
A lot of good food for a really good price. Was seated quickly and the service was pleasant. A great experience!
amazing food at great prices! The atmosphere is perfect and the staff is wonderful! Will definitely be back
The spicy seafood soup is delicious!
