Ive been going here since the early 90s when it was a smaller strip Plaza. The Food is still fabulous and the service is great. Always a good choice.

We had a Christmas get-together with our bowling group on December 19, 2024. The staff are amazing , they went above and beyond service! The chef expressly made my own plate of gluten-free nachos THANK YOU! Love Chances R Lynn-Marie Shapcott Kanata

Breakfast was such a disappointment. Avocado toast was cold, toast was soggy and barely toasted, guacamole spread was brown, not fresh, tomatoes were old and mealy, arugula was limp. The hashbrown potatoes were so greasy. Wont be returning

Unfortunately, food was not warm enough for 6 out of 8 meals. Very disappointing. Server was told when dishes picked up but nothing came out of this afterwards. We were hungry, started to eat , but when someone mentioned food being cold, then 5 others said same thing.

Great place for food and drink! If you plan on visiting for lunch and there are more than two of you, make a reservation!!

Me and the boys planned to go to Osmowsnext door, but we dont go out together much. So we decided to try a sit down restaurant... Everybody at our table was disappointed, we paid double the price of a shawarma and received smaller portions of worse food. The steak and bread was like cardboard. Service was great

Changes R is a nice, cozy restaurant with outstanding serving and tasty food. Chances R is one of the few places we trust to handle our food safely since my family has a long list of food allergies. The breakfast/brunch menu is excellent. I havent tried the lunch/dinner menu. Dietary restrictions: We have a lot of dietary restrictions (allergies to peanuts and celiac). They respect dietary restrictions very well. Its one of the few places we trust to handle food safely. Never had an issue with cross contamination at Chances R with celiac - which happens so frequently that eating out is a challenge. Kid-friendliness: Kids menus, high chairs, and crayons available for the little ones.

Super fast and friendly service and awesome breakfast until 11:30. Great selection on the menu! This restaurant was established in 1976 and you might get the pleasure of being seated by local hockey legend, Brian Kilrea. Great location at Woodroffe and Baseline. An outdoor patio is nice when weather permits!

Honestly the first time I went here was a total disaster and did not think I would be back, however my grandmother in law wanted to go. The waiter was wonderful, wish I had gotten his name. The Greek bruschetta flatbread was a total win and my grandmother was happy. Second time the charm I suppose, glad I gave it another shot.

Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Service is always prompt and attentive. Nice to see staff who have been there for years, a rarity in the hospitality industry. My mom and I took my daughter here for her birthday lunch. The service was amazing, the servers were joking and laughing with us, and the food is amazing.

Chances R went above and beyond to replace our meals free of charge after Uber eats kept half of our order. They saved the night and we truely appreciate their exemplary customer service. Great food and great service.....give Chances R a try this weekend!!!

I ve been coming here since I was a toddler, and after 20+ years of calling this place a family favourite , I can still say with confidence that this place never disappoints me quality food, friendly staff, and great atmosphere.

A true classic establishment that has been around for a while! Love it!

Quite an unpleasant experience. The red head young lady at the door is quite unexperienced. Hopefully you dont run into her. Cant even take a phone order. Do not come on Sundays. Packed and with such inexperienced front door staff it is quite a mess. They left a nice msg in the response but have done nothing after weve tried to contact them. matter of fact weve gone back to order take out again and its a mess everytime. Do not eat at this restaurant guys its not worth your money

Cant give a very good review today. Called yesterday to make a reservation and was told by the manager Jessie that they couldnt take anymore reservations but if we came in we would be able to be seated. So we showed up, only to be told they couldnt seat us because all the tables were taken. It was quite early and there were lots of empty tables so we asked how long we would have to wait. The hostess or whoever she was said there was nothing at all for tonight. So we asked to speak to the manager. A gentleman was introduced to us as the owner, but certainly was not Brian Kilrea, he said he would have a table for us in about an hour. Totally different story than we were told by the hostess. We are regulars here and were quite disappointed with the service or lack of tonight. The staff needs to be more informed on what is going on. **Update** I have not graced their door in 2 yrs and will probably not go back for another 2 yrs. The french fries were gross. Not only were they cold but had probably been sitting around for hours. I ordered the burger and asked for everything but tomatoes. No condiments were serviced, I had to ask for them. The decor could use a little sprucing up and the womens washroom was disgusting. Some cheap Dollar store soap was on the counter and had some gross berry scent.

Repas tout à fait classique dans une zone commerciale. Les quantités étaient gargantuesques, le serveur très gentil et attentionné. Par contre, ce nest vraiment pas de la grande cuisine. Je crois que je ne mangerais plus jamais de sauce bolognaise tellement il y en avait. De prime, le tarif était tout de même assez élevé pour ce que nous avons mangé.

Sadly I can t say I had a chance to dine here. Was meeting a family member, was seated and given water. I told the waitress I was meeting someone and I would need a minute. Well, my family memeber totally forget we had a lunch date and the waitress ignored me for over an hour. She would walk past and make a comment or two about how its hard waiting for other s , when I did look around for her to try and get a coffee or drink she was no where. Finally I had to wave her down and let her know my family member would not be attending and to see if I could get an order to go. She shrugged and apologized saying her shift was over and she would have to find me the new waiter. I waited for a few more minutes pretty upset, she came back and offered to put in the order for me but I just told her no thanks, apologized for inconveniencing her and left. Great birthday lunch for sure ended up going to Jack Astors for take out and a way better experience.

Our server Georges is absolutely wonderful, making our dining experience an exceptional one with his excellent sense of humour and personable traits. Our third annual Thanksgiving dinner with him as our server, simply by coincidence.

Its a wonderful restaurant. Period:) todays service wasnt the usual. Hoping it was just because it was Thanksgiving. Wont change the rating though. Suggestion: make some gluten free gravy for thanksgiving. You can get a packet of gravy and make it in a 2L pot.

We were there on Saturday for a celebration. We were sat in the bar area. The smell of cigarette smoke was so strong waffling in from the patio I got a migraine and left smelling like an ashtra. I am not sure if they were smoking directly on the patio but it certainly smelled like it.

Food is always great. Restaurant atmosphere - but it IS a restaurant. Prefer Pub but thats me. Food will bring me back though!

I havent been to Chances R for a while. Today I went there for lunch. I found they upgraded their game. The food was very tasty. Our server Leslie was outstanding! We had a bit of a mix up on the patio and inside and the hostess was very accommodating with our request to go indoors because of the wasps. Ill be back for sure

I traveled to this restaurant for my birthday breakfast. I used to live in the area, but have moved. I was very much looking forward to going back. I ordered the fruit waffle .... because it included (on the menu anyway) English Cream .. my favourite. There wasnt a drop of English Cream on it making it quite dry. When speaking to the Manager today I was told that they dont include this Cream because it separates. Nothing should be on the menu if ANY item cannot be provided. The waffle was around the $20 price .. tax in. I wont be back.

Nice restaurant right in corner of college square. Good food and very good service. It can accomodate big crowd as well as it looks smaller from outside but is bigger inside.

The restaurant is clean, accessible, has plenty of parking options, and has an excellent cozy atmosphere without being dark. The food was fresh, dressings are house made, and the only highly processed food I saw was a pickle. But the real star was the service. If I could give more stars for service I absolutely would. I have a lot of food allergies and concerns which makes eating out difficult. I was able to express these concerns, be taken seriously, and be accommodated. Kitchen staff took great care with my food, and I didn t have any reactions or issues. I felt safe and reassured to eat here, and the rest of the table was never ignored and the service didn t suffer because of my accommodations. Their menu is also very inclusive with plant based and gluten free options. This will be where I eat when I go out, every time. Absolutely blown away with my experience. Thank you so much. I had a delicious chicken caesar wrap with gluten free fries (to avoid cross contamination with shellfish in their regular friers), my mother had the kalamata chicken with rice, my father and grand father had the steak sandwich, and my grandmother had the chicken club with soup. We all enjoyed our meals and I would be happy and confident to recommend any of those, but don t doubt the rest of the food is prepared to the same standard. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options are available. Dietary restrictions: Speak to the manager and your server. If you have a reservation have them note your allergy. As a personal recommendation: look through their menu online and choose what you will eat so ingredients can be set aside to best avoid cross contamination and ensure they have items ready for you. They may request an email with allergies for more complex concerns. Parking: In a mall/big box store area with a large parking lot shared by businesses. Kid-friendliness: A comfortable atmosphere for a family gathering, and options to sit inside or outside (during patio season). Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, automatic doors, handicap washroom available, and accommodating for properly trained service dogs.

Excellent service every time I go there. Friendly and attentive servers. Theres plenty of variety on the menu to satisfy most tastes. Its not a gourmet restaurant, but you can get more than a decent meal at not outrageous prices. In the summer, you can eat on the large outdoor patio, which is often nicer than the more dark and crowded interior, as long as there is not a big noisy party going on outside! For breakfast, I prefer Chances R more than Allo Mon Coco because its quieter. Chances R is better for the older crowd. For dinner, arrive early, especially on weekends.

Chances R at Woodruff and Baseline is an excellent, must try if you are celiac. They have a separate fryer and grilling area. They take celiac disease very seriously; plus they also have GF beer (Glutenberg Blonde). Ask to be seated in Yonna s section, she is amazing and absolutely knowledgeable! We went for brunch and I had the Texas Omelette with home fried potatoes. Dietary restrictions: Great for celiac disease!

Waitresses are more focused on the regulars to bring you water. If you don t know them they will take their time. Then the food came, steak was dry and overcooked and my wife found a fake eyelash in her food lol. It seems nice and fancy but trust me, in the area there are many much better spots to go. Will try again in a year and hopefully they can make improvements.

One of my friend, a student from Algonquin college recommended here. One of my coworkers who worked here before, warned me against this place. So I decided to try. The service was top notch but the food not that much. I m a bit disappointed. But at least I ve tried.

I had the lasagna, not like it used to be.The sauce was tasteless, with large chunks of meat not chopped properly. Before it changed owners, it was delicious, Have eaten there since, but today was the worst. . Will not order again.

Overall it was a good experience.. The chicken was a little dry on my Kalamata chicken hence the 4 rating. The portion was generous. The fish and chips and stir fry were enjoyed by the rest of our party. We had a leisurely dinner and we were not rushed along. Good atmosphere and service. Would go back.

The food was great. I had the steak sandwich and it was delicious. My mom had the beef dip sandwich which she also loved. I dipped my steak sandwich in the au jus that comes with the beef dip and it was amazing. My wife and daughter both had the fish and chips and loved them. The servers were really nice and helpful. Wait times were not an issue. The only thing Id say it that the furniture is getting a little dated. Its time for an upgrade.

We had an excellent experience after my daughters dance rectial. The food came fast and hot. Everything was delicious! It was busy and didnt affect the food. Chances R has a limited menu but every dish weve tried in several visits was excellent, their baby ribs and cream pie in particular, and ample; service excellent and unobtrusive. Their Fathers Day special 2024 was superb, with flawlessly-prepared steak and a chocolate brownie to die for!

Interesting restaurant in a large mall development, the restaurant has a history that pre-dates the mall itself! The food was great, and though busy we were seated shortly after arriving. Servers were attentive. Plenty of parking on site. Of course, since the restaurant has been such a fixture in the community, many of the noon clientele were North of 60 :)

This place has been around as long as I can remember and it seems like the menu has been too. Its kind of like a place you would like to see Gordon Ramsey come and revitalize everything. Its average at best but it seems like a great place for all the blue hairs to come and eat and reminisce about the dish that they had 40 years ago here and able to still order it. I know if it aint broke dont fix it but it needs a refresh imo.

Ive been coming to Chances R ever since it was part of the Shoppers City West Mall back in the 70s When the plaza was revitalized to College Square back in the late 90s I was happy that the restaurant remained. A couple of days ago I brought my son there for breakfast at around 11:00. The place was packed yet we were seated almost immediately. We ordered the Hartey Mans breakfast. Boy! We werent disappointed. The waitress was friendly and cheerful. The plates were brought to us piping hot. And the smell of the bacon just captivated you. The hash browns are to die for. I wish I had their recipe. My 19 year old couldnt finish his so he asked for a take out container. And the price is more than competitive. A couple of days prior we had breakfast at Allo Mon Coco down a couple of steps away. I had a what they call a mighty breakfast. Two of each; eggs, cold bacon, hash browns soaked in days old oil, a crepe you could use as a discus, cold coffee and hard rock toast; for $23.00. My son had hot chocolate: $5.25 and the Poutine Philly: was $21.00. Needless to say it was my first and last visit there. But Chances R is my go to place for a hardy, delicious and affordable breakfast. Im anxious to try their lunch and dinner menus.

I used to have a good review of this place, but the last two times we went, we were ignored and food was slow to come out. Today we went and were ignored for 20 minutes while we were literally by the server area and 5 servers were complaining how dead it was... But none came to our table. Make it make sense -__- Parking: Its free and theres a lot, but if you want parking near the restaurant, you might be waiting a bit since its a busy plaza Kid-friendliness: A kids menu with colouring and games on the other side. Visited for breakfast. Have not been here in years, over 20. A great breakfast, came out of the kitchen quickly, was nice and hot and cooked perfectly. Service was excellent. Still a great breakfast spot, will have to return before another 20 years :)

Although pricey, easily the best zucchini sticks in the city. I will add the portion is large so the higher price point is justifiable . The garlic dip that comes with the zucchini is outstanding. We will be back.

Nice place to grab a bite. Not too casual and very relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is located in the mall across from Algonquin college, in College Square Mall, which has several other shops and restaurants also, ample parking and accessible from Baseline and Woodroffe Avenue. The dining area is clean and spacious, the waiter was attentive and the food was good. Prices were reasonable, maybe slightly above average; I felt the beer was pricey at $8.75 and diet coke at $3.99. I had the steak sandwich and that was good, a friend had the chicken stir fry and was very satisfied. Another had the chicken quesadilla and they liked it. Overall good, but I think the price was above higher than expected. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian and vegan options. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible by wheelchair since its on the main floor.

Frequented this restaurant several times for breakfast and dinner and have never been disappointed. Good food and ample servings are the norm. While the venue can be quite noisy, I consider the very good and friendly service a reasonable offset. Im sure well go again. Parking: Parking near the restaurant at peak times may prove difficult as it is located in a popular mall.

Came in person to order take out and did not provide cutlery nor was I asked if I needed any at the counter. Would be nice to at least ask the customer if they needed cutlery if its standard that this place does not provide by default. Food wise, not worth the wait. Ordered their R breakfast and the portion is small for the amount they charge and the fruit wasn t fresh at all. Won t return to this place
