East Side Mario's in Nepean

One of the best meals I ve ever had from East Side Mario s!! Fresh, tasty, and well made. I know it s a chain restaurant which is usually not my thing, but we gave it a shot. Place was very busy. They have new items on a menu, partner got a spicy chicken and pasta dish, really enjoyed it. ( I m lactose intolerant and everything on the new menu was covered in cheese) Big portions also.

Food and service were great as they always are. I am in the wheelchair and the pathway to the accessible door was not cleared from snow so I had to go in through a side door that was inaccessible and Im very annoyed at this.

Owner corrected from a previous visit. Pizza, wings & beer were delicious. Limoncella fresca was phenomenal. Service was excellent. Will definitely return. A++

So very disappointing! Was at Hunt Club location on Saturday for dinner; waitress did not pay attention to our order from the get go. The chicken parm was 5 seconds from being totally burned; the chicken fettucini pasta was hard as if it was undercooked and the bill came before we were finished our meal. Only ate it all because I paid for it and was hungry. Left a minimal tip because I felt guilty not tipping at all; the dishes were clean. My friend took her meal in a to go box to take home to be polite but she did mention her dissatisfaction to the waitress who didnt seem to care at all; she didnt even acknowledge her and just walked away. Only thing that has not changed and was really good was the house salad. Was shopping this morning and talking about my meal with my daughter; a store clerk overheard us and piped up saying that her last 3 visits to her previously favorite ESM restaurant was horrible too. None of us would go back. Such a shame; used to be really good!

We took our grandkids. The food was great, as was the service at our early supper. We found it a bit expensive. There was a lot of food. Kid-friendliness: Our waitress treated the kids like any other diner, speaking to them when taking their orders.

Its a great option for a fast get-together on a budget. The food is not bad at all. It wont win any awards, but its very reasonably priced. Free refill on soup, bread, and drinks. Well probably go again at some point.

Chose the restaurant for the atmosphere. That s all there to it. Service was good. Food was very very bad. Over fried chicken wings, tasteless pasta and weird tasting drink.

We had dinner at this location on a Tuesday night. NEVER EVER again. This restaurant was my go to as it appealed to all tastes, but not now. We all had an Alfredo-style pasta dish and within hours had severe food poisoning. - 3 adults and a child with no allergies or food sensitivities. The service was good, but that definitely did not make up for the food poisoning we got from the Linguini Tetrazini that we ordered.

This is my first time in Ottawa and after normal 6 Hour drive, I was starving so I stopped into this Eastside Mario and I m so glad I did. I was greeted by the manager, who was very sweet and hospitable. I don t remember my servers name as I was so tired, but he was fabulous. The food was amazing and always served perfectly. The restaurant is super clean. I plan on having lunch there today also.

Lunch for two. Wonderful service, excellent waiter (George), and the food was absolutely delicious. The Boomers were a great success as well as the tomato sauce.

I love to come here for lunch with friends, I always order the gluten free double bacon carbonara and a ceaser salad with no croutons. The service is always wonderful and the staff are attentive even when it s busy. They put the gluten free pasta on a different plate and make sure everything is safe. Always love getting lunch here. We honestly always have a great time at East Side Marios. My kids always enjoy it, food is quick & consistent (I always tend to order the same thing), service is friendly, etc. I cant remember our servers name from last night but the receipt says Rachel - just for the manager/employer, she was phenomenal. She took the time to personally interact with my 5 year old and made the experience so pleasant. Ps. Any parents with kids under 10, look into the Mini Marios Club. You get 5 kids meals free with the order of your entrée, we took advantage of this last night. Parking: Its located in the parking lot of a strip mall, never had issues parking. Kid-friendliness: Perfect place for kids: free bread with meals, crayons and paper to color, quick service (which as busy parents, you know is essential).

Stopped in for a quick meal with friends and was served by Madison. She was awesome and the food was quick, and drinks were good coming back for sure!!!

Me and my girlfriend just ate there. It was really smooth sailing. From front door to out the door. Atmosphere was very encouraging and uplifting. It was perfect for a meal with your family or significant other. Madison, our server was on top of orders in her whole section. Even had a trainee, the trainee was very accommodating as well. Sharing , although i will clarify we DID NOT eat here. (Fair rating for food- 3, as it was mandatory in order to share the review)We came in for dinner and I went to the bathroom which was dirty as can be, paper towels all over the floor and no toilet paper. Worst of all the restaurant floor was absolutely filthy. All sorts of garbage on the floor, Rideau street may be cleaner. We left as we did not feel comfortable eating here, if this is what the front facing area to customers looked like, i can t imagine the back (kitchen). Now reading other ratings about food poisoning. Makes sense. Do better.

Recently, I went to this location for dinner and was met with tremendous service from Dave. He was funny and hands on. The food was filling to the point that we had to take it home and the atmosphere was welcoming !! Good job !!!

July 22, 2023 Being such a nice day, I decided to treat myself to a meal out. I arrived shortly after 3:00 pm. At that time, the restaurant was not too busy inside, but they were also serving their patio area. I opted to dine in. I very much enjoyed my salad and pasta meal. The cost of my meal was between $20 to $25. The restaurant was clean, had booths, tables, and bar area section. The washrooms were clean. Overall, my experience was great. Thanks

Such a waste of money. When you walk in to the door, sign reads short staffed and will not take the full capacity So we did expect the slow service but food really disappointed us. It wasn t hot nor fresh and served just bread - no salad or soup. Salad came out when we were ready to pay. Hope this incident is only for this location. To be honest, been to really short staffed busy places before but this time, the entrance sign just made excuse for this location, effort or the efficiency wasn t present tonight.

My son and I visited the Hunt Club location in Ottawa this evening. Waitress was great, salad.and Calamari el Diavlo was tasty but my main course was terrible. Ordered Seafood Linguine which is usually pretty good. This dish showed up barely warm, hardly any sauce and the worst part was that the pasta very undercooked. I had my son try it as well before I let the server know and he agreed that it was undercooked. I kindly let the server know and she offered a replacement dish which I agreed to. Fifteen minutes later the replacement was brought over with more sauce, warmer but not hot and still undercooked but not as bad as the first. The mussels were not fresh tasting as the majority of them were fishy tasting, the shrimp were overcooked as well. I am pretty sure that the kitchen simply added more sauce and tried to heat it up instead of making a fresh dish. I quietly ate most of it anyway and made no fuss. Unfortunatley, I will not be going back to East Side Marios anytime soon.

Service has gone down hill , our server was a rare sight , and when she did come around we had to ask for each item , like a drink refill, some bread , a soup , some seasoning , some butter lol theres 2 other tables in our section occupied so not sure why we cant seem to get any service . Update , its been 20 minutes since I wrote this review , I still have no drink refill and no bread for my soup.

We st down a family of three and immediately noticed 8 staff conjugated around the bar where they continued to hang out during our whole dinner. The 6 - 8 staff spent the whole time during our dinner eating appetizers rolling clean cutlery at the same time. Our server claimed to be swamped, but there were several staff members doing nothing. The salad was gate kept by the server and was served warm. The dining experience was negative, and we were uncomfortable. As I person who enjoys good food, I know what to expect from a chain, but this was a whole different level.

Ordered multiple dishes. But the one that I was most shocked about is the Sausage and pepper penne. I used to come here all the time but it has been a little while since my last visit. This sausage and pepper penne consisted of 5, paper thin slices of sausages. Not even a quarter of a sausage went into this dish. There is no excuse for that level of cheaping out. Spent $120 for two people and the quantities of dishes are like this. Absolutely unacceptable and extremely pathetic. Its just not that expensive to make that you need to cheap out that bad considering you charge like $25 dollars for that dish.

Worst customer service experience ever....the waitress was rude . There were maybe a total of 10 other people in the restaurant. We waited to be seated about 5 minutes and noone acknowledged that we were there ...so we sat down . Still no acknowledged us so my mother approached the waitress and asked if it was ok that we seated ourselves ...she proceeded to tell my elderly mother that no we shouldve waited and she will bring us menus whenever . Her exact words were I will get there when I get there how rude is that ? We waited another 5 minutes at which time she walked by us a few times . There were 2 booths with 4 people in each booth and 2 people sitting at the bar ...absolutely not busy ...so it was just a case of a rude lazy person . Be warned ...if you are traveling . Do not stop there . We ended leaving and driving another 5 minutes down the road to Swisd Chalet

Great dinner in our way back to Montreal. The ambiance was nice, place was full but didnt feel packed and the food was above expectations for the price. The check can be equivalent to Boston Pizza but much more quality, soups good and fresh salad, also kids meal, only set back was the ice cream for kids, instead of a scoop with fudge it was a pop up from a box, but all together was good. I love the food here. Incredibly fast service at 5pm on a Saturday. Justine was our server and she was fantastic. She was very friendly, always there when we needed a refill or more bread. The owner is an incredibly kind man as well. He greeted us at the door with a big smile. After clarifying our servers name with him for this review he gave us a $10 food voucher for a free dessert. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience and will be dinning at this location again! Thank you Bady and Justine

March 31st 2024 - Our waitress was the most amazing and so attentive to our needs. We got all of our food and drinks in a timely matter. Everything tasted wonderful as well. This is always our #1 East Side s stop

Some good experiences here, some meh. Our table had to ask for a lot of the service that is usually provided - free bread (ours was rock hard, which was a first), parmesan cheese on a dish, things like that. It wasnt our usual positive experience at East Side Marios which was disappointing. We had fun regardless though.

Not sure what happened to East Side Marios. Used to be one of my favourite restaurants but after last Thursday nights visit I likely wont return. First we had a dead fly on my daughters drink glass...waitress seemed bothered that she had to get another and didnt even apologize! I used to look forward to the big delicious bowl of Ceasar Salad...now it is a tiny bowl. Bread was brought to our table once and that was it. The food itself was good.

Quite busy. The owner was very loud whilst talking to his Lebanese compatriots at the table next to us. Our server never offered us extra bread, forcing me to have to engage in the embarrassing practice of snapping my fingers and hanging the empty salad bowl off the table. My friend was only able to muster four bites of his all you can eat pasta.

Weve frequented East Side Mario s Hunt Club for years, but in recent months, our visits have become more frequent, especially with our extended family. It is a great family restaurant. The food consistently impresses, and the service is exemplary. Just last week, we organized a large family dinner and opted for takeout instead. Once again, the service surpassed our expectations as they graciously accommodated all of our special requests with ease. Dietary restrictions: We have a dairy free and gluten free member in our group and they loved the available options and their food was tasty . Very accommodating!

The drink was delicious, although I wish they put more in it, as they only filled it up less than halfway (see image). The Mangia Sampler was good but the fettuccine and the chicken parm was a bit dry.

This has to be the worst location in Ottawa! The food always comes out cold and dry. Asking for more bread seems like a big inconvenience to the servers seeing as they give one bread for a table of 5 and have an attitude when practically begging for more. Their servers are incredibly rude, slow, unfriendly and only act nice towards the end of the meal for a tip. I don t think that anytime I ve been to this location I ve had a good experience. They should have closed this location down and not the one on Barhaven. TERRIBLE!

i am baffled that after being a customer all these years this is what happened- we planned on having an intimate gender reveal with just us 3 (my husband myself and our son) , we walked in around 3:30 pm with balloons and a cake. we waited. we waited. we waited more- every server and staff member saw us. yet acted like we were non existent. maybe its not the servers job to seat people but then where was the hostess ?? NOWHERE TO BE SEEN!!!!!!!!! we waited 15+ mins with barely 2 chairs at the front with an impatient hungry 3 year old child. its not even the waiting that bothered us but that we were treated as if we were NOT there. NOBODY EVEN CAME TO SAY HI WE ll BE WITH U SHORTLY !!!! ever ! + the restaurant was NOT busy there were many empty seats and booths available. after waiting and not being awknowledged we left. the irony in this all?????? as soon as we decided to leave thru the doors- all staff that had been previously ignoring us huddled up in the back and started whispering and gasping. truly disgusting shame on you guys. we went across the street and celebrated at boston pizza. we will never be returning to this location and will make the drive out to any other east side to avoid this one. simply.

I have been going to ESM for 30 years for my birthday, its a ritual. This year we had to wait for bread. As now only served with the meal when we all ordered entrees. Waitress asked for my drink order last and had to come back when there was a huge balloon on my chair as I was the guest of honor. Both the chicken parm and the fried veal were burnt and only got 50% off when no meat was eaten I guess they no longer offer the spinning wheel and get gift for your bday. What a huge disappointment. Took over 30 mins to get our CAA discount sorted on Micros. Never going back there. They need management help.

Went for lunch with co-workers. What a great deal the Trio is under $15 for all you can eat soup, salad and bread. So delicious and with the peice of salads these days well worth it to have a couple of bowls of fresh garde salad.

Busy evening lots of staff but service needs improvement. Had to ask three times, three different staff to get a drinking straw. Food was barely warm and lacking sauce On the good side the bread is really good as is the Italian wedding soup although the first bowl was barely warm my second was hot. In fairness I will wait a while and try again after all everyone has a bad day now and again

One of the worst places Ive ever Eaten in. The food was cold served on a heated. The sauce tasted like it came out of a can. When I returned home , I spent most of the time in the bathroom, I came down with a case of botulism.

As Barrhavens restaurant closed (?) Now this one is super full . They told me the wait line was 45 min.. Which is ridiculous, so we crossed the street

Horrendous. I do not say this lightly: This is the worst service I have ever received. Waited 50 minutes for our second bread in our All-You-Can-Eat pasta meal. We both ordered All-You-Can-Eat. We left our bread board and empty salad bowl on the edge of the table and it took 50 minutes for someone who wasnt even our server to give us our next bread and salad. Our server had 4 tables at her busiest. 3 couples (including us) and a table of 4 that slowly increased to a table of 7. It was painfully obvious she was trying to get on the table of 7s good side while ignoring us for a bigger tip. It makes sense, that table is likely going to tip way more than the 3 couples tables combined. But do I ever regret no asking to get a different server. She didnt just not check up on us, she was looking at pictures on one of the guests at the table of 7s phone and couldnt pull herself away. Even when we finally got our food she ran away like she knew we were going to take up her time by asking for refills. Our pastas were also not very saucy. We told management as it happened and were given an extra bread (that we would have gotten anyway had the server just checked up on us.), a free dessert, and 15% off our bill. I appreciate the gesture but I think our extremely poor service is worth more than 15% off and a small dessert. I know Nepean doesnt offer many Italian restaurants compared to downtown but I would definitely urge you to go somewhere else. Based on my experience last night, this place cannot get its act together.

I would NEVER go to this location or any other East Side ever again!!! We were so disappointed with our experience with both the food and service. Once we were seated the waitress brought over the bread (which has really shrunk in its size) and plates but we had no cutlery to use. Once we got everything we needed we placed our order for food. We ordered two pasta dishes with chicken breasts, the Veal Limone and cheese cappelletti from the kids menu. We got salads with all three meals and were given one serving of salad and never asked again if we needed more (all you can eat salad). We literally had to play find the chicken breast in the pasta dishes. It seemed they took one breast and had split it between the two dishes. There was barely any chicken to be seen. I dont eat veal but I could tell from the dish something was wrong. The veal was overdone and so extremely chewy to a point where it was so difficult to cut into. Either it was left in the fryer too long or sat on the ledge waiting to be picked up but wasnt. The cheese cappelletti was very dry in some spots and clearly missing sauce. My daughter barely ate it and I dont blame her - I wouldnt enjoy dried pasta either. We had to remind the waitress her meal came with dessert. The new menu sucks!! The options are not all that great and the portions have decreased significantly while the prices have gone up. I understand everything is getting expensive but honestly give people the quality and quantity they are paying for. What an overall disappointment. We will be taking out business elsewhere!!

last Saturday I ordered a take out at around 12pm. The lady busser very lacked patience. She looked so busy for no other customer there. The order completed in 10min. when I made payment for that take out, i have to pay a tips or I could not finish the payment!

Super awesome experience tonight with my Hubby. The food was warm, super delicious and good envirement. We immediately got greeted when we walked in! I wish I had our waiters name he was funny and gave us amazing service. I will be back! Parking: Safe space to park, open spaces. Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids and babies. Bathrooms have change tables in both washrooms!

The waiter Michelle is literally the best! This is the only location we ll go to when we visit ottawa, it always perfect food and amazing service every-time.

Friendly staffs, clean restaurants, they always serves what we actually orders. Everything is smooth from the time you enter the store until youre done. Spinach Dip, Lasagna, Calamari are well recommended dishes.

Justine was our server she is absolutely wonderful! We want to sit in her section everytime we go she is always so kind and patient and willing to help her customers. She is always on the go too! Wonderful wonderful- the goldfish trio

I took penne pasta with jumbo shrimp. It was not over cooked. Nicely done. Staff were taking good care and provided parmesan. The ambiance was good.

Awesome food and great service. The owner was super friendly and on the way out he gave my daughter a free treat which she was super happy about. Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for good food affordable food and great service.

Great service , the times are tough and they are under staffed tonight good food and I must say the service was great the owner met us at the door and got us seated in a timely manner in a booth we requested. Over all great value and I would be back again.

Went there last night for an informal party-of-4 business meeting, and we were well taken care of by the owner Badi, his friendly and professional floor staff, and the talented cooks in the kitchen. Thanks to all who made it a great time. Cant wait to go back.

Amazing Italian restaurant that offers all you can eat garlic bread with certain meal options. I have tried quite a number of meals here and they have all been good. Really good. I recommend it.
