Went today (Sept 23rd) with my family and I honestly have no negatives to say about my visit! Our server “Ranger” was literally incredible was such a sweetheart and made sure everything came out in a timely manner. We ordered the table side guac, and with this being my first time here, i didn’t know what to expect when they ordered it and honestly I was so surprised with it! He asked about amounts of certain ingredients for the guacamole which i absolutely loved as cilantro is not a particular favourite of mine. I could praise his service endlessly! I really wish i had stayed to thank him in person for making it such an enjoyable experience. Y’all were out of Ribs but he made sure to come back and offer me another option so I opted for the wings and it was great. By far a great time!
I think giving this restaurant a 1 star review is honestly being generous based on the experience I had. I came by myself and was the only one sitting at the bar. Had to ask to have my water refilled. The guy behind the bar seemed like he did not want to be there or serve anyone. I ordered the chicken fajitas. All the flavors were extremely bland. I'm from Texas. For this place to have Texas in the name I expected way more flavor. The tortillas were sticking together and watery. The rice was chewy. The only thing that was decent was the chips and salsa. When it was time to check out a different bartender asked if I was ready for my check. I said yes and he said he would let my bartender know who had been nowhere to be seen the entire time. Finally After five more minutes he shows up to present the bill. Doesn't ask how my meal was or anything, just presents the bill. Over all, not a great experience.
I had such a great experience our server/bartender we had was super nice. I got told my half a shot and other drink I mean orange juice was free as it was my birthday. However I felt bad and still paid for it. The food was amazing and love those nacho chips and salsa you guys serve at the beginning. The music and atmosphere was amazing. The staff are all so amazing and super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Lone Star to anyone who loves nachos. Will definitely come back again. Thank you again. I truly appreciate the awesome service. Not a moment went by without a smile tonight. Thank you for making this night fun and memorable. You are all so super amazing.
Great service, good food. We had a good experience at this Lone Star location. Top marks to the staff. I forgot our server's name, but she did an amazing job. Very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was good, my burger was overcooked, but it was well seasoned and had good flavor. Probably would have given them 5 stars if it weren't for that. They have a great patio! Lots of seating when it's open. I'd recommend this location if you are in the area and looking for a good meal with awesome service. I hope you have a similar experience.
We ordered Fajitas and Tacos at this restaurant. The food quality is just about average and the cost of these items are a bit overpriced in my opinion. Both the rice and baked beans are very dry, probably left under the heat lamp for too long. The customer service is ok and the restaurant environment is great for family gatherings.
Nice patio at this location. Tortilla and salsa portion was so small and what happened to the queso? Fajita bowl was good but I recall portions being larger before. Service was fine.
The service was very good. The Fajitas were also very good. The chips and salsa, also good. The only complaint I'd like to share is the light directly above the table, it was very dirty and dusty and is obviously not cleaned on a regular basis. The seat in the booth was torn. So I'll maybe suggest some updates and little fixes. Not a huge deal and I would go back.
First visit here and it was amazing. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. I saw several managers walking around making sure the bar and other areas were top notch. For appetizers we got alligator bites and onion rings and both were fresh and hot. My husband ordered a steak and it was cooked to perfection and the veggies perfectly cooked and crunchy. I ordered chicken quesadillas and they were delicious. I loved the chips and salsa. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxing. We had fast service and got our food orders pretty quickly but we were enjoying drinks and chips and salsa while we were waiting. We will be back - maybe tomorrow for fajitas!!
We had a fantastic dining experience at Lone Star Barrhaven tonight . Our three-course meals were delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Special thanks to our server, Eastwood (Nick), who made the evening even better with his excellent service. The value is hard to beat we ll definitely be back!
Great fajitas, great margaritas and great service! Never disappoints!
I went to Lonestar to order takeout last weekend, I was unsure on what to order but the lady with the name of Storm helped me out and saved me some money with the chip trio for 6! Was super yummy :) Parking: Lots of space for parking
The best of the west end Lone Star locations. Service from Colt was absolutely top notch. Couldn t have been a better experience.
Waited so long to get food, all friends ordered shrimp fajitas everything was cold.
Over $13 for a pint of draught beer? Too much. Waaaaayyyy too much!
The service was excellent! The food is about 1/2 what I used to get and more than doubled in price. They now charge extra for tortillas ( if you run out and you will) and comes with very little salsa, enough maybe for one person. There is an additional charge for guacamole, $2.99 extra. I did not feel that the amount of food equaled the price and I m not likely to return. Greed can put a restaurant out of business
Food was great. Service very slow for a Sunday at 1pm. Half full and we sat for 50 minutes before arrival of food
We love going in person so we thought uber eats from this location would be the same.... definitely learnt my lesson. Order two burgers and a bottle of wine.. you know a great after work meal. The burgers show up with a small tomato and small ring of red onion...thats it on the burger lol and the fries were ridiculously cold and soggy. He didnt have the wine that we wanted to enjoy with our meal .... apparently someone else was bringing it 40 minute later lol seriously not worth the 85 dollars this gross meal cost us.
One of me and my kids favorite spots. We cant get enough of the fajitas.
I just needed a cozy table by myself so I could have lunch and work a bit. The staff set me up and kept me filled with coffee. The food was delicious.
Great food and service!
Food was good, fairly priced and service was excellent.
Service was a bit slow, bit made up for it with a free appitizer. Kid-friendliness: Standard kids menu. Reasonably priced. Food : 3/5 |
Service was excellent! Food was good
Expensive
We had the chicken lunch fajitas, and they were very good.
Food was fabulous, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. Good prices for the quality!
Great food and atmosphere but very expensive now.
Hello, The first thing I noticed was the state of uncleanliness of the restaurant. The booth we were led to was covered in stains and food remnants. The glass light fixtures were covered in dust. The food was good and we didnt have to wait long. When I see the state of the front of the house I always wonder what the kitchen is like.
I usually like Lone Star. We decided to order dinner tonight and I noticed they d added birria tacos to the menu so I thought I d give them a try. They were nothing at all like birria tacos. There were three tiny tacos that tasted like a pulled beef grilled cheese with a side of jus. There were no peppers in the consommé, no tomato, no spices, just beef jus. Skip the birria. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was good, and the chips and salsa rarely miss, but definitely pass on the birria if you actually want birria and not beef Au jus tacos.
The hamburger was delicious. Not enough fries, wish they were hot more.
Upon arrival for supper it was not busy at all. Ordered an app and a couple of drinks and the service just went completely down hill from there. No side plates, no cutlery and nothing was cleared ever! The dirty dishes From the chips and salsa and our app literally sat there the entire time we ate our main meanwhile the GM has been shmoozing the ENTIRE time with the kids working the hostess station (at least 40 minutes). I saw at LEAST TWO people from the dining section walk over to the bar and stand there waiting for someone to acknowledge them for a simple drinking glass .oh and our fajita hot plate had no sizzle no smoke no nada! Place has gone down
Reliable tasty tex-mex food.
The food is amazing. Only downside is the manager or at least one of them got a promotion after telling a customer to kill themselves. Other than that everything else about the place is nice. The manager has a name of a hot pepper. Everything else is nice.
We dined here on Monday Sept 16th with a party of 13 and our experience was fabulous. Our waiter provided stellar service, all orders were correct and piping hot, everything came out within a reasonable amount of time, and he was a pleasure to deal with during our dining experience. Thank you for your attentiveness and smiles. Would highly recommend Lone Star Barrhaven to all.
It was a nice set up we had good privacy and fast service Parking: Lots of parking handicap parking is right at door Kid-friendliness: Lots of room for the kids to move aeound Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access and lots of space to move around
Amazing Service, great atmosphere, food was meh. Chips and salsa are amazing as always lol
Good food. Least busy of all restaurants in area. Patio has no TVs for viewing sports
Have been in a while. Was okay but not the way it used to be. The food isnt spiced the same way and theres no mesquite. The flavors that made lone star good arent there any more.
We are usuals at your lone star, but lately we believe that service has gone down and the food quality has taken a dive for the worst. We are sad that this is happening, but we will never return again. Not worth the money anymore!!!
Our server did an excellent job with our party of 18, we were served with humour, grace and speed. The food was very good with large portions, a tad expensive, but so is most any other restaurant out there. Food
Our server, Big Dog, was excellent as was the food! They have lots of gluten free options as well.
Was there on 21 of august 1 pm for lunch. Sat at bar with my wife. Server made us feel as if we were bothering her ! No people skills what so ever. Pretty much threw the menus at us. Sorry for bothering you we won t be back
I went there for my sons 15 birthday. Honestly speaking I was disappointed. It is not the same as it used to be. We ordered our all time favorite the fajita. Food portions were really small. Chicken sliced as if it was cold cut meats. Shrimps were too small and frozen for sure. The rice came old and stale. The toppings were not good also. Pico de Gallo was not fresh as if it was setting somewhere exposed for long time uncovered. The lettuce was not fresh also I just simply didnt enjoy it at all. Not the same. Portion of the food and quality was much better before. I dont know what the management trying to do cut corners to make more money. Also, Just all of our section didnt get any cutlery and everyone had to get up and grab from tables neighboring them or try to grab the waiters and waitresses attention which was a challenge the whole time we were there. I ordered fries for my youngest child and after waiting long time for our food she came and informed us. Fries on the way. Then she came after 10 mnts and she informed us that they dont have fries anymore. But yet she still charged me for it. Most ridiculous thing. I told our waitress about my experience and all she said. Oh sorry about that. Nothing I can do about it. Instead of offering to get the manager or offer something to make it up. I left and was still hungry after I spent $400+ in food. Over priced and no quality or quantity that we loved in your establishment. I dont think I will go back again. Very disappointed
Great pearls
It was great.
My goto place for fajitas
We dined in to celebrate on an extremely busy evening. Our server Daisy handled the pressure professionally and with ease. Not a moment went by without a smile. Thank you for making this night fun and memorable. We look forward to having you serve us again and keep up the great customer service :) Erin and Family
This location is one of the better Lone Star in my local area.
Great service. Food as always excellent. Gets quite noisy at times.
I just came in to treat my mom and aunt to lunch. We walked in, were told to sit in a booth by the bartender who said she would bring menus by. After sitting and waiting I walked up to the bar and asked for some menus, was curtly told ya and walked back to my table without menus and waited about five more minutes - watching the bartender who I m assuming was working the floor alone chat with the rail customers. As a server myself I can certainly say I ve never felt so unwanted in a restaurant at lunch time which was a very disheartening experience considering I picked this restaurant and dragged my family across town for fajitas :(
Amazing food Beautiful vibe Great service Food : 5/5
Great food, great service, and really good frozen mango daiquiris. I have always had a great time at Lone Star. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Kid-friendliness: My grandchild is special needs and all the staff are great with her.
I am a longtime customer soon to be never again. I spent $200.00 on Saturday June 8th and our visit was not great first. Our waitress seemed preoccupied most of the visit. Our salsa and chips were cold not like usual. Second we had to asks for our napkins and silverware. Third our we ordered drinks and we ordered large Coronas only to be told after that they had ran out then why ask what size we needed. Fourth we order a calamari as we always do the calamari was over cooked and when it arrived we had to ask for small plates. Fifth I order the Nashville chicken all it was is a chicken strip cut in half with hardly any hot sauce very poor Nashville sandwich. Sixth my wife order the chicken strips with honey garlic sauce on the side I guess the sauce tipped over from the kitchen to the table and drenched the fries and chicken. Seventh I asked for ketchup for my fries and the waitress brought me a empty bottle. So I got up to go get one I gave it to a waitress they finally returned with a full one 5min. later. When I got up to bring them the empty bottle they had spilled several fries on the floor behind me I would think probably when they delivered my order you would think someone would have picked it up before I stepped in it. We were sitting very closed to the chip warmer and it seems the staff were very disorganized the manager was standing with them and it was obvious he had no organization skills. Anyway like I said usually visit twice a month but after that experience. Will think about visiting other restaurants in the area
Very good food. Friendly staff. Need to arrive very early to avoid waiting.... 4:30ich pmich
The fajitas are fantastic!
I have ordered take out regularly from this location for about 6 months because I work in the area. The last three orders have been incorrect. This order was for myself and three other colleagues. We ordered three quesadilla and one order of fish tacos. We didnt receive any sour cream, guac, or salsa with any of our orders. Only one of us received our side dishes of rice and beans. So all of us had to eat our meals with no dipping or side. Very dry. Paid $20 plus tax each for plain quesadillas. Not impressed. I have never had these issues with any other Lone Stars in Ottawa, only Barrahaven. I have been a Lone Star fan for more then 25 years and have never had these issues until now. I would suggest not to order take out and to dine in so you can be there in person when they screw up. Eat at the other locations, not this one.
Won t turn the music down for a war veteran PTSD
The food was ok, but we waited for a while at the front and for a table. The place was almost empty, the Hostess was chating with a friend. The waiter wasnt nice at all. Is there a manager in this place? Is someone in charge?? Maybe he was so bussy, or doesnt care about customers.
Best Lone Star I ve eaten at in the city. Food was amazing, fajitas meat was cooked to perfection. Staff was super friendly. Highly recommended this location. Reminded me of the original lone star way back in the early days.
Ive eaten several times before at this Lone Star, and we usually have great service. However, I recently had to downgrade my review from five stars to two stars because of how absent our waiter was. She never showed up except to take our orders and for the bill. I did notice that there were other waiters that were more attentive with their clients than ours. Only the manager and another waiter were super helpful, while our waiter was MIA. The wind must of have blown our waiter all the way from Ottawa to Savanah, Georgia.
We came to enjoy dinner at lone star we waited about an hour for our food. We ordered salad we got it with no plates, we ordered drinks the cups were soapy, when the burgers came they were still a bit raw and cold the service in general was bad.
I ordered wings, you could tell the were obviously pre frozen, and when they came out they were soggy and just not good, the service was horrendous. I sat at the bar by myself, I waited over 10 min to get a beer, over 20 mins to get my food order taken, it was about 45 mins before I actually got my food. I needed a knife and fork, which I had to wait over 10 mins for!!! I don t totally blame the bar tender as she was serving tables as well, but i think management there has understaffed the place and because of that the service suffers. I would not be returning!!! The food wasn t great and the service was horrible. Overall a bad experience.
Lone star never disappoints and this location is no different. Excellent food.., and fantastic service.
Food was a not perfectly cooked and service was very slow and the plates had a bit dust on em and I didnt like the smell in there
Do not order Frankies Nashville Hot Chicken from this location or any other. They have the worst chicken fingers I have ever had, they taste like old frying oil. Save yourself some money and buy frozen chicken fingers from the grocery store.
We got the fajitas for two. The portion size was way down from before. It was tasty and we had great service. Im just disappointed that there wasnt more food.
The food is meh at best and the waiter was terrible. It was like he heated his life for being there. He was quick to answer and rude
Very busy. Meal was a while coming but it was hot and delicious. Waitress had to many tables to serve. Parking: Hundreds of parking spaces but difficult to find a space
Relaxed environment
Our server (also bartender) today March 9th 2024 around 1pm was extremely wonderful! Food was delicious as always!
Staff is so rude here. I asked one employee that how long for my order because I was running late for my work can u ask and he said no i wont. Seriously very disappointed.
We had a wonderful lunch today. Our server was great, didn t get his name, older gentleman. Food came out quick and was delicious!
Ive been going to Lonestar since I was a child, I live between the UK and Canada now and I always miss it so dearly. I wish there was something available like this here, it would do so well in London. I would love if the restaurant offered shipping, I would order it via fedex just to have it here.
Sharing a recent experience I had with Lone Star Barrhaven. Last night as a tradition we ordered for pick up for our daughters birthday. There were a couple of quality control issues with the meal. Normally we overlook these things but I decided to write an email with my concerns. The manager responded very quickly to rectify the issues and frankly went beyond expected to make sure we were happy. Thank you Lone Star you have retained a loyal customer and will continue to support as we have for the past 25+ years!
Friendly staff & lovely ambiance.
Just spent 79$ on fajitas and wasnt provided the tortillas (the main part of the whole meal). An absolute waste. I called in and the only thing I was provided was either I had drive back in to o get the tortillas and free chips and salsa (lol) or they would credit the tortilla amount (so what 4$) it ruined our entire meal and there was no empathy for this.
Service was not great and took to long to get everything. There was 8 of us but seemed to be a lot servers.
Fajita shells were really good at this location, better than Kanata. Meat was cooked really well. Decent service, though it is always slower when it is the bartender serving you - drinks were a bit slow. Friendly service, though.
Fantastic meals
Tuesday Tacos, Dos Equis, desert, all excellent. But beware the upsell on the draft imports. Buy a bottle at the menu price, or ask the price of a draft. The beer cost more than the dinner: two $6 dollar tacos.
Food was OK, but expensive. Drinks were horribly overpriced. Service was slow, but allowance made a little as it was fairly busy
amazing food and the staff was really friendly. Service was fast I loved the shrimp taco very delicious , the nachos are fresh and perfect.
Diamond is spectacular. Best service with a huge smile.
Absolutely the worst service.. It took 2 hours just to get our food, and the waiter had no answers. Just avoid the barrhaven location.
We had the most disappointing experience here. We had a group of 9 for lunch to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was not busy but it seemed like there was only one server working. The food was ok, but the service was terrible. They didnt have cream, only milk for coffees, which is ok. But we had to ask for spoons to stir the coffees, then had to ask for cutlery to eat our meals. It took close to a half hour to get our order placed and then close to 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The server was grumpy and not really pleasant. Then once we had eaten our lunch, the service disappeared for quite a while and when they returned they offered more coffee but forgot to bring out sugar and milk and then when they returned with it there was a used cigarette in the sugar container. We waited a very long time for the bill and many of our guests had to just leave and we had to pick up their bills as they couldnt wait any longer. The restaurant never got busy the entire 3 hours we were there. Overall, it was extremely disappointing.
Went there for Christmas lunch, it was good service was great, nice fast and accurate, the staff did an outstanding service we were 25 people there no one complained or got the wrong order it was great. Service with smile. I loved it.
Ridiculously over priced fajita platters with a very bland and flavourless taste. We spent nearly $80.00 on a meal for 2 and we could have recreated this entire thing with $20.00 by grabbing some dempster tortilla wraps, shredded cheese and seasoning our own chicken breast. For that type of money I was expecting a top notch food experience. Overall impression not worth the money.
Cherry was a great server - food was awesome!!! And so tasty
We enjoyed a family lunch. The service was excellent, and the food was perfect cooked
The food was fairly good, the price a little high for lunch. The server was excellent. I would go back again.
Love the food, but we were extremely disappointed to receive the worst service ever. We came in after the lunch rush, the hostess sat us down, the server seemed to have about 3 tables finishing off and 2 coming in at the same time, including us. There was a bartender who didn t have much going on as she was chit chatting and the manager was taking care of the tortillas. The hostess gave us chips and salsa within minutes as we continued to wait for the server. 15 mins later, the server made her first contact and so we decided to give her our whole drink and food order since we didn t want to wait another 15-20 mins before our food order. Still we waited another 20 mins still no waters, no drinks, no contact. Then someone from the kitchen delivered our food and we asked her if she could see where our drinks were. She apologized, she would look into it, and then said we only have one server at the moment, it s really not a server issue. We really tired to be understanding but there were 2 tables in the dining side (incl. us) and not much action on the bar side either. If the server was alone, there were 4 other staff that could have helped the server simply by making sure tables got water at the very least. I agree it s not completely a server issue, it s a management issue. One of us found the manager and asked him to bring us our drinks. They came. Another 10 mins or so into our meal the server made contact a second time and we gave her another order of drinks. We finished our food and still waiting for that second order of drinks. I finally got up found our server chatting with the manager, I asked to cancel our drink order since it was taking too long and asked for the bill. The manager just stared and said nothing. To pay the bill, the server sent the bartender and one of us asked why things were taking so long, she said it was really busy. We let her know that the place was empty and it wasn t a good enough excuse. She smirked said nothing. Service was already borderline during our previous visits and this day just made us wonder why we would ever bother going back.
Very consistent as a chain restaurant. Good food, good servers.. and I must admit, I have an unhealthy addiction to their tortilla chips...
Nice to eat outside, even if the view is just a parking lot.
Good spot for a few beers and chips and salsa!!
Always great food. I always have fajitas but for the first time in ages I tried something else - tacos- they were really good !
If youve had the fajitas before, you know what you are getting. Decent food and generally good service. Always rather loud in there though.
Chips and salsa are good always 10/10. I cant say same for the fajita bowl I got for take-out. Its very disappointing to say that I had a small version of what you would get in the restaurant. I was expecting big portions, but NOPE. Also, there was some produce that wasnt even prepared properly for example, I saw an end of a onion.. Service - I cant comment as there wasnt nobody at the desk to be acknowledged so it took awhile, and a girl asked me if I was seen, I said no. She was busy when she asked, but luckily came back to serve all 4 of customers who were in line waiting behind me. Ill stick to dining in person at Lonestar over take-out. Thats all I say.
Lone Stars fajitas used to taste really great but the quality has slipped throughout the years.
Great food and service. The patio there is great!
Love going to Lone Star, the Chips & salsa is so good. Most often we order fajitas. Today we ordered off the menu, I had the tortilla bowl salad and my wife had the fish tacos.
We had a girls night out yesterday and we decided to go to Lone Star for dinner. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, we were well taken care of! Our servers name was Nacho and he absolutely elevated our dining experience! He was courteous, witty, accommodating and very attentive. It was refreshing to witness someone who really enjoys working with the public and his personality is a great asset to this establishment! The food and drinks arrived promptly to our table and everything was hot and delicious. Nacho checked on us several times throughout the meal and it just added that personal touch to our dining experience. I will highly recommend my family and friends to go visit our new favourite server. Thank you Nacho for an amazing night out!
The ahi tuna tacos were amazing!
Good food and kid friendly. We ordered the fajitas and they were delicious. I got the wrong dish but Daisy made it all right. A good server can take a disaster and make it right.
Haven t been to a Lone Star in decades but I was impressed with the food selection. Living with a vegetarian it can be hard to find options but there were plenty of choices that worked for the whole family. Staff were friendly, food came out quickly and was exactly as ordered. Would definitely go back if I were in the area.
Decent patio, sun and shade, spacious inside too..never too long of wait to be seated or served.
Very friendly atmosphere and the food is good
We had very slow service, very old rice, yesterdays vegetables. Really the fajitas and the tortillas were as always good. Service was very very slow. I dont recommend. Mexis is much better and theyre not cheap with the toppings.
Good food, good drinks. They seem to have changed their tortilla chips, I prefer the older ones but the ones we had were still good.
We were a party of 5. Overall, it was a delightful experience that left my taste buds satisfied and my companions and I in good spirits. There was a small hiccup that slightly dampened our experience. One member of our party received their meal much later than the rest of us. And though it did not drastically affect our overall experience, it did create an awkward situation as, out of politeness, the rest of us were waiting to dig into our meals until all of us had been served. Some of us couldnt wait as we would have been eating cold fries and onion rings. Despite this glitch, our server Diamonds attentiveness certainly overshadowed the delay. Their friendly demeanor and prompt assistance in addressing the situation was appreciated. I would gladly return again and hope that the timing issue was just an isolated incident.
Stopped in for lunch on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Cold beer on tap, good Mexican food and excellent service from Curly. Definitely ask for Curly if you stop in!
We went in for my sister in laws birthday They forgot multiple items Got a couple items wrong And took quite a while for a food to come out, Our kids casadeas and father in laws burrito Set under a heat lamp for around fifteen minutes while they made the rest of the food, And the restaurant wasnt even busy, There were only two other tables seated in our section, They did give us twenty five percent off But I dont think that compensates for the service and forgotten items, My wife ordered steak nachos There was no steak on top, so she asked about it, The waiter told her the steak was under the nachos on the bottom... When she looked, there was no steak So they replaced her order and forgot the guacamole the second time, I ordered my son a cheeseburger with only ketchup, Took them 3 tries to get it right. The first time they brought it out all dressed, Second time they brought it out with nothing just a patty and bun Third time We found out they had used the same Burger and just scraped everything off. When my son tasted it and seen little shards of onions left, Finally they made him a new one after everybody was finished eating he received it.. I dont know if they were just having a bad day. But if this is their regular service, I would not recommend going.
Need to put someone to sleep for any given reason whether it s innocent or not? buy their queso dip and go to sleep
The food is always excellent at Lone Star. They make the best fajitas.
Disappointing food awful service ask for tequila and got gin and the server paid no attention to my complaint. We wont go back.
Best Fahitas! Even better
Food and service were as good as one can expect from Lone Star but the big negative was the temperature inside! The AC was set way too low. So low that the ribs on our platter were cold by the time we got to them and we only had one tortilla first. Which is saying something as the platter is served on a hot skillet!! The staff were great and the food was yummy so we ll definitely be back. :)
Food took 40 mins to be served Calamari are tasteless Fries came cold Fried Chicken was too oily Food : 2/5 |
Ok but nothing outstanding!
Had a nice meal here last night. Dietary restrictions: Has gluten free options. Food : 4/5 |
I visited the Lone Star Grill during a recent visit to see family in Barrhaven. I remember one of the original Lone Star locations around Fischer & Baseline back in the 90s some ages ago now. I was pleased to see that the food is still quite good. We ordered fajitas for two, a sirloin dinner and large burrito. All the food was really good. The free nachos and salsa as are good as I remember. The place was surprisingly busy for the suburban location for an early dinner on Friday. I would definitely go back. Glad to see this restaurant chain still puts out good food after being in business for decades ;)
6 out of 5 star service! Super friendly staff!
Great place to make a pit stop. As a trucker driver I love the location. Service could be a bit better in terms of being a solo diner. Will definetly stop here again.
First time dinning on this part of the town. Usually dont go this far. Totally worth the drive. Service was amazing, lady who served us was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on the menu items. Vegetarian options: Lone star has ton of options. Salads and bowls Parking: Big parking lot right up front same plaza as the restaurant Kid-friendliness: So much room for big families, birthday parties Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible doors and patio
My new go-to for great steak dinner.
One of the news Loan Star s locations in Ottawa. Beautiful and exciting vibes. You can talk and mingle and still you will hear a good music on the background. Clean and neat. The waitresses were super nice, Daisy and .., the food was super delicious. A steak fajitas, a double burger, a crispy chicken sandwich and gluten chicken fajitas. With a couple of kids meals. Delicious! Must try.
Walked in to pick up my order for take out was helped by a very nice blonde girl and then was repeatedly asked by Kitchen staff and tortilla guys if I was helped yet. Same people asked three times if I was helped even tho they knew I was being helped by someone else and laughed and thought it was a good joke to repeatedly come to the front and ask if I needed help. Very childish and bad service would not recommend take out at this location. Thr young lady did a terrific job althought we have young men who are immature in the workplace.
Bruh.... trying Lone Star for the first time in 30 years of life is like losing your virginity - not satisfying and I shouldve waited even longer to do it. Now Ill never get the memory out. Theyre known for their fajitas but I ordered the assorted meat platter for 2 people and it was the most tasteless thing ever. Small side of rice but they gave you a whole onion instead. A positive though, the beef was nicely cooked medium rare and flour tortillas were nice and fluffy. However, still bland. I had the candy gummy flight and that was good too. I still cant believe the restaurant has existed this long while other quality ones have gone by the wayside. They must get people with their ambience and drink menu because its definitely not the food. Good decorations inside but I think Montanas does a better job at creating that ranch feel. Just hop over to the Mucho Burrito nearby if youre craving Tex Mex! At least the bathroom attack afterwards will be well worth the trouble.
Had the combo for two fahita plate. Plenty of tasty food. Fresh and hot. More than enough for two. Had to take some home.
Had the Chimichanga with rice and beans, which is always great ! Deep fried burritos are so tasty as all the flavors are locked inside the crispy (not oily) burrito. Its always hard to make up my mind, but I never go wrong with a Chimichanga!!
Always great food and service.
Nice patio, food was good, fries portion was small, hot sauce was excellent, salsa and chips was small and not replenished.
Love the lone star, the barhaven staff were very friendly. Definitely going back
Food was not fresh, tasted like it had been sitting out for a few days
Our server was fabulous! Food was delicious. Thank you for bringing back your wonderful chimichurri.
First time back to the Lone Star in over a decade, as Ive been away from Canada. The fajitas are still the best in town and they did not disappoint. Those warm, scrumptious flour tortillas are the bomb! Service was also quite good, so the overall experience was 5-star. However, I do have a gripe with the post-Covid free chips and salsa policy changes, though. You now get a piddly little portion (barely enough for a family of 4) for free, and then they charge you for each additional serving. Nonsense! I can understand if this policy is to eliminate waste, but if so, do what the AYCE sushi places do, and only charge me if I leave wasted chips/salsa. Otherwise, if Im paying $30+/person for a meal, it hardly seems a stretch to comp with free chips and salsa. As much as I like the fajitas, this policy change has me questioning whether Ill go back anytime soon. Id rather give that extra money to the servers in the form of tips, to be honest. The extra $5-10 Id spend for my family on the chips/salsa, should go to the servers, not corporate greed. This change rubbed me the wrong way.
Shout out to our server Tequila( the server, not the liqour) who made our family outing special.
Went for some pints after work. The free chips & salsa are a nice perk. Service was slow to start (shift change) but got much better. Nice spot, lots of parking. A little pricey for what it is. Food
Over priced for little food. Upped the price from any other place the manager drinking employes kids running around very unprofessional not in anyway a place Id return to.
Quick, tasty, efficient.
I went for dinner tonight because #1 it s my favourite restaurant and it was my last dinner since I m getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. I chose to go here tonight! :)
Service was horrible this time, the food was cold after waiting for 2 hours for it. Had to go to the bar to ask for our nacho chips, ask for the rice for the fajitas and the place was not that busy at all.
We have been to many Lone Star Texas Grill. This was the worst. The server kept forgetting and came by to see if we were enjoying our meal, but when we asked for something, he said, ya ok, Ill be right back and never came back. We had to keep reminding him what we asked for. In the end, he didnt ask if we wanted dessert. Instead, he asked if he could bring us the bill. And then all of a sudden, to care about us as individuals, all to get a tip, I presume. Just because you are a server does not mean you automatically deserve tips !! You have to work for it, with each customer !! These are some of the things I look for with my server, in determining if he or she deserves a tip: Did your job well? Were you quick? Were you thoughtful, thorough, kind, friendly? Did you go above and beyond? Did you do anything to help your customers have the best visit they possibly could? Did you make your customers feel valued? Etc. I, too, work at a job that gets insanely busy, and you wind up, running around trying to keep up. But you will never forget your customers!! This restaurant seems to be too small or just poorly designed. It was too loud, everyone talking over the next person. Of course, it doesnt help that the bar is located in the center of the restaurant. There are no separated booths. So no matter where you go, you can not escape the noise. We will not be returning to this location. Wheelchair accessibility: Unsure as I dont have nor do I know anyone with wheelchair. That said, curb to restaurant floor all the same level.
We visited on October 27/2023 to celebrate a birthday. As soon as we were seated our server Hammer approached us in a foul mood. Unfortunately his mood only got worse over the 1 hour we were there. Hammer was extremely rude and condescending. You could tell Hammer didnt want to be there. The food was cold, the beef in the fajitas was burnt. The manager was a lovely lady approaching the tables and asking about our experience. I am not one to complain. But this man was so rude, I mentioned it to her, and she was wonderful. I would like to thank her for her help. When Hammer brought us our bill we explained that there was an error. Then he huffed, and rolled his eyes and stomped away like a child. I will never return to this restaurant. I recommend you go to other local Lonestars. Unless you wanted to be treated like garbage and want cold burnt food. If you decide to go and are lucky to encounter Hammer. I would ask for another server.
Its in bar haven Ottawa. Serves Texan dishes. Food is average. Service was slow. Ambience is good. Food is average.
Food was OK, wasnt great, service was pretty good, its a decent chain. Free Chips and salsa, yummy
Went here a week ago with my girlfriend, food was good but the waiter was very absent and very rude when he did speak to us. He never smiled and spoke in an aggresive way to the point that it was intimidating and made us feel very uncomfortable, would likely not return soon.
Kitchen is filthy, they don t care about keeping environments clean and healthy. For what you put in your mouth, there has to be a decent if not total cleanliness around the area. If you pick up food from the back, take a peek at the kitchen, it s horrendous and and eye sore. The food isn t the best and the atmosphere and dirty environment makes it less inviting. Makes me wonder how the food is prepared for clients. Shameful. People who don t care about a tidy environment shouldn t be allowed anywhere close to a kitchen let alone serve others what they eat. GROSS!!!
Friendly staff, excellent service, and very good food.
We had the pleasure of having yet another delicious meal at the Barrhaven location on Nov 11th. We had dinner at the bar and were served by a woman with black/purple hair who was so friendly right from the start and happily took our food/drink orders. The food and drinks came quickly with all of the fixings! I wanted to take the time to write this review as quite a few bartenders were so helpful to us when they noticed something was wrong with our meal. Unfortunately I didn t catch all of their names but Red specifically helped us with settling our bill and made conversation with us while the other bartenders Curly and another man with brown hair (didn t catch his name) made light of the experience with us and left a great impression. Truly, everyone seemed so happy to be working that night and to be of assistance. Thank you to all of your staff for the professionalism and enthusiasm. This is why we love to dine at Lone Star so often!
Good service and atmosphere..prices are really expensive
Loud place with a lot of fruit flies! The Nashville Chicken sandwich was a bit geasy, but o.k.
We ordered Fajitas for 2 and rack of ribs which cost $114! For what we had it should have been $50 meal. The fajitas were flavourless. Very disappointed as Lone Star used to be a go to for us but not for this price anymore. This is our second disappointment for Lone Star .we won t be going back.
After an uncomfortable experience the manager and waiter was absolutely steller with how they handled the situation, definitely suggest going there
Love it, food was excellent.
Our last visit to this Lone Star location. They consistently make errors on take out orders. This is our third error and last one. Nothing like getting home with no chips or boats for the fajitas. The person we spoke to said that a manager would contact us the next day which also did not happen. (That was 5 days ago).
Food floating at the bottom of the glass of water, twice. There is an issue with your dishwasher. Eventually asked for bottled water. If youre ordering a coke/pepsi, more than likely you will not see anything floating in your glass, but it is there, and youre drinking it. Wont be back. Food : 2/5
The restaurant was really cold we had to keep our coats in the whole time..$13 for a small glass of wine was over the top expensive.
Great service amd great food!
HORRIBLE experience. We popped in for an early dinner and the hostess took our drink order because the restaurant was a touch busy. We ordered a margarita and a mango daiquiri. The manager brought over our drinks and said they were busy so he was the delivery boy. He delivered a strawberry daiquiri with a salted rim (not sugar, salt) and an unsalted margarita. We called him back to point out the mistake and he tracked down the server that made the drinks to remake them. The server then proceeded to argue with him that making drinks wasn t his job and to find the bar tender. The server turned out to be our server, and botched at us that making drinks is not his job, he s only concerned with our food order. We asked what was going on with our drinks, and he again told us it wasn t his job and began getting aggressive with his tone. So we let it go and ordered (nachos, calamari, deep fried pickles). He didn t appear to be writing down the order and a separate server brought us the food. The order was incorrect, she had brought us chicken and pickles. We told her we had ordered deep fried pickles, but would accept the chicken and pickles if she gave them to us for half off (since they would just be thrown out anyway. She said she d check. Our server then came back over with the chicken and argued that it was what we had ordered. Eventually conceding and putting in the order for deep fried pickles. We asked him for some plates since everything we ordered was shareable, and he said ok, then never returned for the rest of the evening. A server helping another table saw we needed plates and got them for us, and a lovely girl checked in to see if we needed anything else, but our server abandoned us completely. Our bill was an absolute mess, and no one apologized for the numerous mistakes to our orders throughout the night. The food was sub par, and once we paid the bill and were leaving, the staff didn t offer up a friendly goodbye or thank us for our patronage. I won t be returning.
Great burger...
The food was good. The service...awful.... We went for my birthday so there was the three of us (including myself) who showed up at 6:47pm. Two came in shortly after so and we were waiting 2-3 more people. By 7:10pm we ordered drinks and the rest of our party showed up at 7:30pm, she came back a third time and took their drink order and filled them in saying we JUST ordered our drinks but that was 20 mins ago. I mean its maybe because they didnt have a designated bartender. Maybe she was slow because there were two other parties (nobody else though... it was busy but NOT THAT busy. Its Tuesday night and by the time I actually got my food it was empty... I ve seen it jam packed and servers moving much faster). We ordered our food at 7:40pm...we got our food 1 hour later 8:47pm....the whole time we were there we never got chips and salsa.. we had to request it so we were all starving... we had to request plates... it was 7 of us so I understand it can be overwhelming. The whole table ordered 1 unos and a dos festive special (missing the chocolate even after telling the waitress, I still never received it)... the rest were appetizers like chips and queso/quac and antojitos...For the size of our party we didnt get all mains... so the food was kind of light work in my opinion. It took so long, we never saw our waitress~ it was my 23rd bday and by the time she came back I was 40 years old, crazy. Instead we got the manager to sweet talk our obviously angry and hungry table. So, he brought out the rest of the stuff and check in on us, see what we are missing. Nice guy but the manager was not managing this night, he was mostly on his phone and he did great at our table dont get me wrong, I see why he is team lead, but then he just went back on his phone. Our actual waitress didnt come back until MONEY time. Apologized for how long everything took and because bf worked at this location before, he agreed that was worst service ever and still tipped 20% out of courtesy. Tip if of the iceberg~ They had no toilet paper <3 live laugh love! me waddling my way out the restaurant~ Overall. Got there at 6:47pm, didnt receive drinks until 7:40pm, and then received food an hour after that... SIDEBAR: The best waiter is Nacho, I kept going for that guy~ he is carrying the team. Give that man a raise. Need more servers like him.
We had the holiday fajitas for two. It was great and lots of food.
The food was awful, dry and tasteless and the margarita was so sour it gave me a sour stomach and turned me off for the rest of the night. To add to that, the silverware was disgusting (which we had to ask separately for because they forgot to give it to us due to the fact they weren t ready despite the reservation) the service was slow and the server made multiple mistakes which added to the slowness and frustration, would not recommend! 90$ wasted that s for sure
