The food is always excellent here and more than enough to compensate for the service occasionally suffering when they get busy (few visits to check for refills or clearing spent dishes - the food service and ordering has always been prompt even when busy) The Hue-style pho is to die for, the spring rolls fresh and delicious, and the portions are appropriately generous. Weve taken friends here often and regardless of what people ordered, they have commented positively on the taste and overall quality. My only persistent complaint is the choice of music played in the dining room - especially during the holiday season. On our last visit the Xmas music, in addition to being insipid, also looped at least twice by the time we paid and left. Music taste aside, you will not go wrong dining here - we do regularly as it remains a neighborhood favourite

Simply the best pho in Ottawa!!!

There are lots of bugs in the store. They add the tip to the bill and then give you the option to double tip.

The food is a small portion for $30 and I ordered extra shrimp and they gave me 3 shrimp for $6.99. Wow. Otherwise the food is ok but the spring rolls did not taste fresh.

I ve been a pho enthusiast since 2000, exploring Vietnamese noodle houses all over town. Unfortunately, this place falls short. Let s start with the price: $19 for a small bowl of beef flank pho before tax! At that price, you d expect something exceptional, but sadly, the soup is mediocre at best. To make matters worse, when I inquired about MSG in their broth, I was told that all noodle houses add MSG. I can t verify the claim, but it didn t leave the best impression. Overall, it s hard to recommend this place, especially given the cost and underwhelming flavor.

Great Pho!

A very good variety of food is offered by the Vietnamese restaurant. The price is about just reasonable. There are plenty of parking available.

I have not had a bad meal here. Everything is delicious, their chicken deep fried spring rolls, beef pad thai and chicken tom kha soup are amazing.

Damn.... highly recommended bowl of noods. Will be back. Management and staff are super nice as well. Thank you guys for the great food!

Staffs are not very welcoming. When I got in and said table for 1 . Then a lady pointed at a table near the window. So I went and sat down. Then another staff came by and dropped a glass of water and a menu then walked away. Never said hi or smiled or even how are you? Very simple greeting right ? Then I ordered my large bowl of pho it s was good ! Again server never came back to check if everything is ok ? After my meal I went to the counter to pay. When the staff saw me he just took the bill and put it on the counter and that s it. Didn t say anything didn t ask how was the meal . Just didn t care at all . So the bill came up to $23 something and I left 15% tip on the bill. And still no facial expression even when you leave a tip. No thank you no NOTHING !!! I start wondering if the staff are getting any of the tips ? They all look so miserable there and I will never go back to eat there with this kind of attitude. Your customers service SUCKS you need to work on that !

Just about the best pho in Ottawa. The beef is unbelievably tender. Dinner time is so busy but the staff is still very friendly.

This overall is a very good place with decent food and fair price. The only thing I will complain is they always try to clean up your table even when you did not finished. No need to be so rush, just leave the customers some flexibility.

Favorite pho place in the city

Very good Pho probably the best Pho in town. The cook, also the owner, also come up with special dishes every weekend to introduce his favorite authentic Vietnamese foods, such as seafood vermicelli soup. The service is fast and polite. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable.

Super fast service, well made pho, and friendly staff. I got the rare beef pho, and a medium was the perfect size for a meal. Also got a Vietnamese coffee which came served over ice and was also delicious

This place has very delicious food, I would highly recommend eating here, but watch out for the portion sizes. My bowl of Pho was a medium and by the end of the meal, I had barely made a dent in it. Unless your starving, maybe go with a small. Lol

After our usual Pho place closed due to COVID weve been experimenting with other local spots and happened upon Noodle House 79 and were very happy we found it. Portions are very generous and their vermicelli and spring rolls are delicious. This is our new go-to Pho spot!

What an excellent place to get Vietnamese and Thai food. I live in Vancouver, BC where we have so many good places to go but I had some of the best Pad Thai ever in Noodle House 79. My son was super impressed with their green curry with noodles and beef. He said it was like Thom Ka (green Thai curry soup) with Pho and all the flavors were on point. If I lived in Ottawa I would eat there once a week!

Great food, check it out, there is a reason it has so many 5 stars, it is because everything is great. Service is wonderful. It has a senior discount, and many other deals and specials. I cant say enough about how great this place is.

I ordered a pork and spring roll vermicelli noodle bowl and chicken rice rolls (to go). I order online and it was ready for pick up in 20 minutes. I had asked for less noodles and extra lettuce if possible, which I don t know if I got because I have never ordered from here before but the position size was perfect and it came with two delicious spring rolls. Some of the pork was fatty, but the flavours were delish. The noodle bowl had basil and mint which was a nice addition. The rice rolls were a good size, but could have used more sauce.

I come here fairly regularly with my wife and kids. Just as I thought this place couldn t get any better, it wowed me even more. Had the stone pot pho with beef tenderloin on my birthday and it was the best pho I ve had yet.

Last night was our second time to Noodle House 79. Everything was perfect! The service was friendly, fast and unobtrusive. The prices were quite reasonable and, coupled with seniors discounts were actually fabulous. I had Bún Bo Hué soup (medium size). The broth was very flavourful and was complemented very well by lots of rare beef and rice noodles. You just cant experience better.

Excellent service, food and atmosphere.

Ordered a banh mi and mango bubble tea online. Had to pull multiple cilantro stems [with no cilantro leaves!] out of the sandwich. Only 2 of the 5 stems they threw on had leaves on it... :/ Not sure why they didnt just put the leaves in without the stem like before. My mango bubble tea was simple, only to have tapioca, but they added litchi popping bubbles for some reason, so that was all I could taste out of my drink... I couldnt taste any mango since it was so overpowering. [My drink ended up having mango popping bubbles near the end of it. Regardless its not what I ordered.]

Only second time coming here but is definition repeat when near Merivale Road. Ordered two banh mi sandwiches as we were pressed for time to get to the airport (Ottawa traffic ) a combination and a grilled pork. The pork was my favourite (we were sharing) and had a delicious sweet taste to it on the perfect sub bread. Highly recommend.

UPDATE: dropped rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. In early 2024, I visited this place again with a friend (& not with my family like I normally do). It feels as though if we dont speak Vietnamese, we dont really get a warm welcome or friendly service, so to speak. My previous experiences were good, but this experience left me a bitter taste. Food is still good, but it did make a big enough of an impact to me to give this rating, unfortunately. I hope I get treated better next time Im here alone/with a friend. == Great first time experience here! Food is great, the seating is comfortable, and they use high quality chopsticks! Well definitely visit & recommend this place to others in the future

What was our surprise to discover this magnificent Vietnamese restaurant! We were made to feel very welcome! The loundge style ambiance and decor were impeccable. The service was courteous, fast and in FRENCH!! WOW! My girlfriend loved her Bành Mì and my Bún bò Hu soup was the best I ate in all of Ottawa/Gatineau. The food was fresh and the portions generous! This place and kanata noodle house have been my only go to pho places in ottawa post covid, ive tried almost all the other pho places in ottawa and this place is one of the two that you can taste where the broth was made with ingredients other than just salt and msg, price is relatively reasonable but the food is great!

Great food, great portions and lots of variety. The one thing I wasn t too impressed about tonight was the calamari as it was SO small of a plate for $10.99 and it was super chewy. Would not waste my money on that order. Picture attached

We were looking for Vietnamese food and we were so glad that we found this one. We tried multiple Pho plates and all were delicious and fresh.

Very rude and arrogant staff. Went for Mother s Day lunch and they did not give 15% discount. Also they asked for tip over and above the 20% tip already charged on the bill. The server very arrogant and rude. Called today to speak with the manager and again rude aggrogant woman on phone. Would not transfer to the manager neither give her name!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!

I m trying to find the best bun bo hue in the city. The sliced beef and the pork hock were good and clean. The beef shank was cut too thick so it s a bit hard to chew. The broth was clearly good bone broth that gelatinized when cold. But I was disappointed by the flavour, it s lacking some spices. The price is higher than most Vietnamese restaurants. It is reasonable as the portion size is a bit bigger. Service was fast. But there are better Bun Bo Hues in the city.

Rude to Ubereats drivers - this one, and then gets defensive when you inform him theres no need for that sort of attitude. Fun fact: Delivery companies that you sign on with are your business partners. If you want to be rude, then we simply wont pick up at your restaurant. Since you decided to give me a thumbs down for defending myself, you have been reported to Uber. Theres alot to be said about restaurant staff, delivery driver interactions and best practices on both parts, but yelling at a driver whos simply following instructions and doing their job IS NOT one of them.

First time here, got pho. Chicken broth, egg noodle and satay shrimp with rare beef. Out of 3 different locations I frequent; this broth had the most depth. Cleared my sinus right up. Will be back for sure.

It was soooo good! The summer rolls are amazing! And if you like curry you should definitely try the spicy thai soup! If you are a Pad Thai person you should try that as well! Ten out of five stars!

I ate this restaurant with. Group of Chinese Canadian friends. I didn t have a chance to explore the full menu as we were all in a hurry but the service was good and the food tasty. . . . We each had a different variety of pho. Next time I will order some other dishes ! The place looked run down like it could use some updated furniture etc. But we came for the food.

Service here was amazing. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Food is great but regarding the pho, it s just missing the richness in the broth, probably needing more beef bones for the pho broth. Otherwise it s great :) will come back to try the vermicelli.

First time coming here. Nondescript atmosphere. Lots of selection on the menu, including mostly Viet staples. Had the spicy pho along with spring rolls and bacon wrapped shrimp for appetizers. Service was friendly but seemed to disappear midway through the meal. The pho was generously sized but not as flavourful as hoped. The bacon wrapped shrimp was a little overdone and dry, but the rice wraps had a pleasant aroma and authentic flavour. Overall a decent choice for pho!

One of my go to Vietnamese restaurant in Merivale. Service is top notch. Bánh Canh Cua is the dish that only served on weekends. Recommend giving it a try!

Came for the food but stayed for the vibe. I dont usually eat out for Vietnamese food as I usually make them myself, but the food was absolutely delicious and affordable here! The best thing was the sweet uncle that was so nice to us. He was courteous and funny when I tried to pay for the bill, even gave us extra tea and cookies when we stayed for so long after finishing our meal. Invited by a Vietnamese friend for Lunar New Years dinner. Shrimp Tempura to start. Chicken Pho Soup with quail eggs and Shrimp Pad Thai. Best I have ever had and I m 57.

Food quality from excellent to not as expected, depending on who cooked - Food served to customers are not the same as advertised. We eat at this restaurant once every few week. Yesterday, I and my son went there, ordering the weekkend special Ph Gà Lòng Gà Tr ng Non for me and Bún Gà N ng for my son. Since the one I order few weeks ago, they served without Lòng Gà (chicken intestines). At that time they apologized and gave me discount couponds to make up. This time I asked the waiter, he confirmed they had Lòng Gà. When the food came, they served pig intestines (lòng heo) instead of chicken ones. I mentioned the fact to the waiter. He said he would report to the cook. However, the waitress, without looking at the leftover food on the table, assured that they are lòng gà (chicken intestines). She should be more aware of what was going on before saying anything that was not true (see attached picture of the dish during and after eating, see also picture of chicken intestines). The bún gà n ng my son ordered was not good as expected. The rice vermicelli was cook without properly drained (still very wet) - (bún lu c nh ng ch a ráo n c) and the chicken lacked the grilled tastes. He said he ate the same dish and it was excellent few weeks ago. The owner should know what are going on before starting to loose good customers.

Amazing service with awesome food. Went for my birthday and found out (without asking) that my entree was free because it was my birthday. We hosted a Super Bowl party with a large variety of different dietary restrictions - they created unique versions of their pad Thai and a few other dishes to accommodate everyone. Will continue to go back.

Food is great. They have a variety of options from Thai to Vietnamese, varying from Pho to stir fry, But especially enjoyed their Pad Thai and Curry Noodles.

The foods are very good and love the 15% off for age 60 and over.

Food was ok, good portions served hot. Unfortunately they messed up our order. Had to be notified that they missed 2 out of the 10 dishes we had ordered. When it was reordered the dishes were still incorrectly made. Next, when it came to pay the bill, it was calculated completely wrong (we were being overcharged). Lastly, because we were a table of 10, they added a 15% gratuity. This is really unfortunate as nothing about our experience reflected the quality of service or value of the restaurant. We had good hopes for this restaurant but we were rather disappointed. If they had provided us with better service after all of these mistakes, I would consider giving it another try but they did not.

First time here and we liked the food. Pho was yummy, Bun Bo Hue was flavorful and the Thai Tom Khai noodle and pork spring rolls were both very good. Also ordered the Che Ba May (3 colour beans dessert) but it was missing the green jelly...they replaced it with coconut jelly instead I think and it was still good. Service was good and fast as well. Enjoy.

Great authentic pho with tasty meat, nice and clean interior, and quick and excellent service. We accidentally ordered the wrong number of beef rice noodle soup due to a communication error but they didnt make a fuse about it and simply just went back in to prepare for the correct one.

Food was pretty good but service was lacking. They got several of our orders incorrect. In food service, they should first say they will replace it instead of asking the customer if they are okay with keeping the order. They also forgot to give a combo drink until we were almost done with the meal at which point, we didnt really need it anymore. We ate at around 3pm in which the place was almost empty so we were confused how they could make these mistakes.

First time coming here. The environment is clean, nice decorations and nice music not to loud in the background. The number 20 rare beef was a very good portion and price. I had the medium rare beef. The service was quick and friendly. The presentation of the food was good. Bathrooms are clean. Will definitely come back. They also have vegetable broth soup as seen in picture.

Best pho in Ottawa. Flavoursome and with good combo deas

Owners and waiters are very polite but also very playful at the same time. Making everyone laugh and grabbing everyone s orders efficiently. They are constantly circling the restaurant considering how busy it is. It is very nice atmosphere and spacious. The food is well portioned and the ratio of every dish is perfect. The bun Bo hue is a very deep a delicious dish, it is hit and miss with the special though, the pig trotter can either have meat on it or be only cartilage, sadly mine was only cartilage.

We came here for the first time last October after a recommendation from a friend who raved about the pho in the hot stone bowl. The broth had depth, the sprouts and basil were fresh and the quality of meats was superb. Sadly, with many pho restaurants in Ottawa, the consistency in quality, freshness and service tend to decline over time. Ordered the pho, hu tieu and bun bo hue several times in the last few months and they were hit or miss. A year ago, I would have rated this restaurant at 5 but regrettably, over the last several months (so not just a one-off), I can take it or leave it.

Highly recommended. Quick and attentive service, super tasty food and large portions. Looking forward to going back.

Great food and service, food is prepared promptly with amazing taste

Wow, this is a little hidden gem! Everything was perfect. It was extremely clean and organized. Music was very quiet - just some acoustic covers of various hits. We were seated immediately, the menu was easy to understand, and our order was taken promptly. Our food was brought out by the chefs. We both ordered combos, and we got our springrolls first. I dont know that Ive ever tasted anything so good in my entire life. While enjoying, we were brought some bean sprouts, garnishing leaves, lime slices, hot peppers etc to be added to the pho we ordered. As we finished our eggrolls, the pho was brought out to us. Impeccable timing! We both got beef, and it was so good. Genuinely some of the best broth Ive ever had. I got a medium but couldnt finish it so I was given a to-go container. Everything was cooked perfectly, the employees were professional, quiet, and efficient. All in all, if I could Id give them 6 stars. Note if youve never gone to this kind of place: when youre done eating, go right up to the cash at the back. They have some candies and fortune cookies there, too. They will eventually check on you, but the expectation is that you get up when youre ready to go. Parking: Shared in a strip mall, but the strip is usually empty. Kid-friendliness: Kids were welcomed to come in. Wheelchair accessibility: Half of the seating is accessible by wheelchair, the other half is not. The door ways are narrow but I think a traditional wheelchair could fit but maybe not an electric one. I dont think the doors are automatic. Id call ahead if you have mobility issues.

*****LONG BLACK HAIR IN MY FOOD***** honestly I m so disgusted, disappointed and upset right now. 50$ later for beef and rice and chicken and rice and there was a long black hair in my beef and rice. The chicken was disappointing not much flavour and rice not sticky enough too dry. They re also using some kind of fake sirachi sauce that tastes awful and very salty. Overpriced, hair in food, tasteless for all the hype and not very friendly customer service.

This is a really nice place for good Vietnamese food. The staff is friendly, the service is good. Ive been there many times and will be back many more.

Been going for a long time but unfortunately, yesterday my family ordered pad Thai, steamed chicken, veggies, and rice, and we all got food poisoning. Probably from the pad Thai since it was eaten by everyone. Too bad that we won t be able to go back again, they seem like nice people.

I heard about Bun Bo Hue from CBC radio, so I went to try it. The results were more than expected, NGON.

Just happened upon this place. Wow! Exceptional flavour, big portions, high quality, and reasonable prices. Will be returning on the regular!

Your typical vietnamese pho place. Pho is great as expected, loved the broth. Wish they had tripe or a better dac biet option though!

This is my new fav Pho in the west end ( Merivale Area). The food was delicious and full of flavour. Customer service was on point. When I went to pay for my mother and I, the owner told me that my mother gets 15% off because she was a senior. I appreciate the fact he advised me of the discount without knowing that 60 plus get discount.
