Welcome to Restaurant International, a hands-on learning laboratory that provides our students the opportunity to apply and reinforce learning outcomes, practices and skills they learn in their programs. Our menus are created by students and faculty from culinary and hospitality programs in the School of Hospitality and Tourism. Food preparation and dining services are facilitated by our students as part of their course studies. We hope to you serve you soon!
Food was not worth the price. We had the buffet with a mock tail and decaf coffee. Came to $60 - definitely not worth it. Salmon was overcooked, tomato with parmesan and breadcrumbs weren’t great. The macaroni was ok. Dessert overly sweet. Ir was very noisy and hard to hear.
Great work by the students!! They have different menus every season .. well presented dishes and very friendly student staffs. Desserts are just awesome
Appreciate the efforts by the culinary students in cooking and serving food. While the food was presentable, the taste wasn't on par with the price $28+ I paid for a lunch buffet. It might have been better off going to mandarin buffet with this price. However, I did not mind supporting the students.
A Culinary Treasure at Algonquin College – Restaurant International Restaurant International at Algonquin College is nothing short of a revelation. Run by the talented students of the Hospitality and Tourism faculty, this establishment offers an unparalleled dining experience that rivals the quality of a two-star Michelin restaurant. The food is simply exceptional. Each dish showcases the students' impressive skills, with flavors, textures, and presentations that are nothing short of culinary artistry. The menu is thoughtfully crafted, featuring a blend of classic and innovative dishes that cater to a wide range of tastes. Every bite reflects the passion and dedication of the students in the kitchen. The service is equally remarkable. The students are professional, attentive, and go above and beyond to ensure a flawless dining experience. Their enthusiasm for hospitality shines through, making you feel both valued and pampered as a guest. What truly sets Restaurant International apart, however, is its affordability. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the outstanding quality of food and service you receive. It made me question why I had been spending so much at other high-end restaurants when I could enjoy superior meals while supporting the next generation of culinary and hospitality professionals. Dining at Restaurant International isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates exceptional food, top-notch service, and the joy of supporting aspiring chefs and hospitality experts. Don’t miss the chance to discover this amazing experience Galal Ali
Food was excellent, as was the presentation and service was friendly. We had corn fritters, sushi, and Charcuterie boards for appetizers. Our mains were Braised Beef with Potato Gnocchi, Fried Chicken, and Thai Curry with Eggplant and Tofu. For dessert, we had the chocolate lava cake and lemon crème brûlée.
The food was delicious and the presentation for the dessert was top-notch! The lemon crème brûlée was phenomenal! The staff are a bit awkward sometimes, but they are learning.
The lunch meal was fabulous...so well presented and flavourful .... can't wait to go back again. Server was very sweet and helpful. Definitely would recommend this restaurant to others.
What a great dining experience! A large beautifully decorated restaurant with huge windows for natural lighting and a surprisingly nice view. The service was very smooth. The food was so well presented, creative, and in line with the current season. You can expect a 3 course meal, and a modern dining experience. At the end of our meal, The chefs came to our table to get feedback and to answer any questions. Very personable. We had 3 generations at our table and everyone was completely satisfied and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Highly recommend. #localguide
Went for lunch with a friend. Service was bad. We just arrived and we are asked if we know what we are having. Then we asked for a cocktail and wanted the cocktail prior to our appetizer. Not possible we were told. My bloody Caesar was bland, no taste, no spices, no spicy green bean as the menu is stating. Caesar salad was flavorless, watery with commercial croutons, tasted like there was no dressing. There was an error in my salmon dish, had to return it. We had to ask twice to get utensils to eat. Errors were made on our bills. Its not like the restaurant was full, we were the last 2 clients.
Food looked great but had lacklustre taste. Flavours that shouldn t be put together were. Service was decent, but other tables were definitely getting more attention. The atmosphere was great, everything looks nice but other than that it s just okay. Food proportions were never the same me and my friend got the same thing and hers was way smaller. I get it s training for students but they should be doing better than this.
Beautiful presentation of delicious food! Careful and kind service, quick to meet our requests.
Its important for your restaurant to create an inclusive environment free from any form of discrimination.
All the management services were great and even the staff members were very friendly and kind.
Very affordable fine dining restaurant. 4 courses for dinner at a very reasonable rate
Food was really good, solid price, that chef Aiden is really cute
Food is delicious and the presentation is always superb. The salmon was phenomenal.
Went Oct, 2022. Was just okay, wouldnt go back. Service wasnt great and the atmosphere was meh. Food was well presented but the flavours didnt really go well together. Fun evening otherwise, but wouldnt really recommend a nice dining experience, unless looking for something cheaper.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this unique restaurant where students class prepares a three course dinner. I must say, I was blown away by the quality of the food and the level of skill displayed by the students. The meal began with a delicious leek and potato soup. The soup was creamy and rich with the right amount of seasoning and a drizzle of exceptional quality olive oil. Along with other members of the family, we enjoyed goat cheese and arugula salad. The salad was fresh and vibrant and perfect before the main course. Seafood dumplings were also savoured for starters. For the main course, I opted for a pan-seared salmon with roasted potatoes and steamed vegetables. The chicken dish with Indian butter sauce was another standout dish served with steamed fluffy and fragrant basmati rice and vegetables cooked just right. Finally, the dessert was the real treat, choice of chocolate lava cake or cheese cake served with fresh berries and dessert sauce. Overall was a fantastic dinner experience. The food was delicious and the students were really passionate about their craft. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try
Been here many times. Turns out this one was a buffet. I give the stars for the service. Lovely people. The food was really bad. The trouble with hotel pans is they keep cooking the food. Salmon like dry sandals. Probably should have an ingredient list because I had a huge reaction to something I ate. Nothing was hot or fresh. All the dessert was white.( I dislike chocolate so fine by me) Looked sad because it was all white I tried the mousse white lemonish cake Yuck We were excited to support this place after the pandemic. Im sorry but thats it Good luck to the students
Western food is much better than asian food.
Excellent value, periodically changing menu. Definitely worth a stop!
Great dining experience. Even though the waitstaff was a little green, they still served me quickly and with dignity. The price for the food is amazing and economical, especially if you re a student. ~25$ is the average student dinner price. For reference, a five piece combo at Popeyes is only 5$ less. The food was pretty good, potstickers were mid, Atlantic salmon was satisfactory, but the dessert was amazing.
Such a treat, and won t break the bank! Staff are great, you can actually have a conversation without noise to talk over, and food was worth the price! We re watching for the menu to change - then taking our son to enjoy as well!
Excellent . The menu is prepped by the students . Beautiful presentation on all the food. I will come back . Good price and hel the students to have a real experience
This was a buffet setting, which was not the usual set up we were used to. Food was amazing, a little bit of hiccups with the students trying to flambe or whatever fancy fire effect they were doing with the French onion soup . Highly recommend a night at the teaching restaurant. Food is on point .
Lots of parking, the restaurant is easy to find. The food was excellent, the service was very good and the ambiance was ok. It was a delicious three course meal. I would definitely go back.
I arrived at 12, I received my food after 1 hour at 1 PM and even though we waited for long time all 3 pizzas dough was fully raw. On ate the top of the pizza. I understand this meal is getting prepared by student but it doesn t mean they can serve food with this quality!
I am always delighted how good the food is for a teaching restaurant. A set lunch and dinner menu. A three-course lunch is $18 plus tax and tip. Three-course dinner is usually $25 - $35 plus tax and tip. Menus used to change weekly, but right now I am unsure if this is the case. Students working here are doing it for program credits (i.e. hospitality, bartending), and get experience at the same time. A good way to support them. They are guided by professional chefs, Managers, etcetera, and ask for feedback. Good value for what you get. A lovely atmosphere. Limited lunch and dinner hours, and the restaurant is only open when the students have classes. There is also free parking in the lot where the restaurant is located, and you have to get your ticket stamped inside to validate the free parking.
Fun and unique. Student led dining. Fixed 3-course meal. Great to help the next gen, getting experience and building skills. Recommend!
Tempura bowl is worst thing I ever had not even deserve 1 star
A training restaurant for Algonquin college, everyone was very friendly, but as you would expect still learning sometimes a bit awkward in service. Soup was excellent, so was the bread and butters, beef was good though a little more cooked than medium we thought. Soup and mains were not quite as hot as we would like. Desert very good. Food came promptly and service very attentive. Will return.
A really nice place to enjoy a meal with friends and family. Fine dinning, relaxed atmosphere. Food is made and served by the students in the program. Table dhote menu. Starter, main and desert.
Really, really good food and friendly students. The waitresses/waiter students and student chefs have done a great job
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. A 3 course meal, beautifully presented and delicious. The staff (students) were very attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back. On Saturdays they have a menu designed by the students and changes from week to week. Its a hidden gem, so try it out and support the college.
Buffet was very good, great selections. Some dishes a little on the warm side. Next time Ill be first in line.
Weve ordered takeaway meals from Restaurant International twice now and havent been disappointed. The food is good, cheap, and easy to reheat/finish. When they say a meal feeds six, it actually does (were a family of three and it makes two meals for us). Pickup was prompt and friendly.
July 2021 a well priced restaurant offering some decent dishes. Some are very very good, while others are ok. Set menu options. Prepared by students in the program. The chicken was amazing. Juicy and flavorful with fresh herbs. Salmon was perfectly prepared with a crispy crust. The meat gonnichi was pretty good. The dessert on the other hand was so so. A bit too sweet and not enough wow.
Had dinner, ordered soup, pork, and apple cake. The soup has a strong flavor of spices and carrots, but its okay. The pork portion is generous and the sauce is delicious, but a little dry. The apple cake is moist inside when baked, but the overall taste is very coordinated. I dont recommend the mango. Cranberry pie, the cranberry puree is very, very sour, and the amount is large, a bit too sour. It took a long time to wait for the main course, but the food did not disappoint.
Food was delicious, perfect portions, the Calzones and that dressing was incredible. Service was excellent. My first visit planning more. Thank you
The purpose of this restaurant is providing practical experience for the students in Hospitality program. Enjoy every moment that they trying the best to serve the customers.
Glad to see this place back open. If you want a good fancy meal or impress a date on a budget this is the place.. 3 course meal and wine for each of us and all under 75 bucks. Can have some small problems as they are learning but If you go near the ends of semesters then it is always top notch.
Very pleasant experience. For a student learning environment its definitely a repeat for us.
Verry good food loved that place will be back soon
Went here as a part of an elective course at the college and I am very impressed by the quality of food since I went there Ive recommended it to multiple people
Really enjoyed the experience. Good location, lots of parking. Accessibility friendly. The choices of food was good, the presentation was very nice and appealing. The taste was delicious. Well done by the Chef . For a four course meal it was well priced.
Was very delicious, chef is an amazing cook, with artsy presentation. Well done Chef Christina you nailed it.. great staff and service. loved it..Great job Chef Christina , done with love and passion excellent work.
Excellent food and service for OACETT event.
Delicious food, great service.
Great food! Very fancy/gourmet at a fair price. We went here to celebrate a belated valentines day, and it is quite romantic. You could tell that the waitresses were very new to waiting tables, however they were very sweet and kind! Our drinks and food were out very fast. The only thing I did not really like was the harsh lighting in the room. Its like a white hospital light glaring in my face, but that is more the schools fault as opposed to the restaurant! I would love to see them have dimmed yellow lights next time we come back!
We had an office retirement lunch here, and the food and service was great! They easily accommodated a group of 30 people.
A teaching restaurant at Algonquin college. Means you never know the level of the servers or kitchen staff. I eat a vegan diet. While they dont have a lot of choice, they have always managed to accommodate me. Sometimes it means getting 2 salads in a 4 course meal, but I have no problems with that and have always left happy with my meal
Generally excellent gourmet fare prepared and served by students at Algonquins culinary school. My advice to diners, come to an early seating if you have your heart set on a particular dish. Quantities are limited. In my original review a year ago, I said: In all my visits my only disappointments are the dining room itself. My advice to the school is to remove the huge photos from the wall. They belong in your student calendar, not your dining room. Im happy to say that they renovated! So, now a full 5 star experience.
The service was pretty good, but I have heard of other people not having as much luck. The prices are quite low, and the size of the dishes matches that to some extent. The apatizers and mains are delicious, but the desert I had there was not. It was actually 3 deserts; an ice cream slider, eclair and a third. The slider was ok, but the eclair was bland and had the consistency of cardboard.
The effort was there, the food was excellent.
The students put together a great experience. Fantastic ingredients. Service and food is done by students so its never perfect and Ive found reservations to be sometimes complicated but its a very nice experience. Worth a visit. Gluten free options and good with accommodating other allergies.
Loved this place very much. The students get a real hands on training and experience with their courses to get into the real world whether its the dining/restaurant experience, hotel experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone should be patient as these students are learning and growing there experience within the restaurant international at Algonquin College.
Cool experience. Price was fairly good for the food they were serving, however, it was clear that the staff was mostly comprised of students. This is not a substitute for a high end restaurant in terms of service and food quality, however, the experience was very enjoyable.
This place is a classroom for a lot of culinary and hospitality students. So u will get the best service here with cheap rated good quality food
This is a restaurant run by the students and teaching staff of the culinary and hospitality program. It is a learning experience for them so please dont forget that when you dine here. That said, the students really put their best foot forward in ensuring you are satisfied, though it wont be perfect, but very close to it. The food is delicious and well plated, drinks are great. Prices are VERY reasonable given that this is a learning establishment. Please come and support the students, you wont regret the experience!
Good food and service for a reasonable price!
We had a wonderful experience tonight. The service was gracious, friendly and attentive. The food was exquisite and the presentation a work of art. We enjoyed every single course. I was amazed by the delectable blend of flavours. Absolutely scrumptious. Cant wait to come back. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice food and services. The price is right.
11/10 highly recommend. If you can get your hands on a ticket for a final project charity dinner, ur in for a treat and a half.
Awesome gourmet menu, fresh food and excellent prices.
The service given is at its best, and the starter, main course, and dessert is everything.
Good optionsfor a fair price
Food was great and service was excellent. The price was not bad either .. it was well worth for the money spent.
Attentive service and delicious student-prepared 3 course meals all for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!
Delicious fresh food, impeccable service, fully wheelchair accessible including the washroom (automatic door openers whoohoo ).
For just students serving and running this restaurant, fantastic place to be here if you wanna save some money and enjoy a 4 course meal. The same if you want to donate to charity because all of the meals paid by us goes to the foundation. I recommend coming here often if you like to try something different everyday and help to donate to charity too.
Delicious. Very nice service.
Delicious food and very reasonably priced for what we got. My four course meal with steak was $29 plus tax and tip. We were delighted and will definitely be coming back. The restaurant offers free parking which is a great bonus.
Its always great to support students learning any trade... In this case, the students are learning the ins-and-outs of the restaurant business and food preparation. Each of my meals here have been enjoyable and interesting. Its also a bonus the prices are very reasonable! You must make accomodation, some things arent perfect but the students welcome constructive feedback to make improvements.
Delicious food
Excellent food, excellent price for a four course fine dining experience and you get to help students in their culinary studies !
The food is always delicious! We go at least twice a year when we want a fancy outing.
Fantastic experience; perfectly prepared and exquisitely plated dishes and knowledgable, attentive, efficient and discreet wait staff.
Good cuisine for a culinary school.
Food and service are great.
Nice and hospitable people ! food is so great!
Butternut squash soup was amazing, lamb curry was the best curry Ive ever had with amazing naan bread. Chocolate mousse was decadent and perfectly plated. 10/10 would recommend
The mariache band was a nice surprise, i think it was someones birthday. The food was alright, the fries were under cooked, along with my friends potatos, they also put the big white crunchy part of the lettuce in my sandwich. Service was crap the rushed us to order without explaining why. They also didnt ask us what we wanted to drink. They also put our bill together without asking if we wanted a seperate bill, i also asked to get a take out box for the rest of my food, but the waitress still took my plate away amd I had to ask again to pack up my food.
The food was amazing. Plating was perfect. A wonderful meal from start to finish. Servers did their job and made sure everything arrived smoothly. I have enjoyed eating here in the past and shall continue to eat here in the future.
Food had beautiful presentation and tasted wonderful, and quality of service very high...reasonable prices for a special night out.
This place never fails to offer a great dining experience. Tonights banana flambe was an exciting finish to a wonderful meal. Good job!
Nice place for fine dining. Can experience the real tasty food
Ok
Really nice place to have dinner with friends or family
Very good food. A little under staffed, but they still did a good job for a great price.
Great meal for price.
Excellent meal
My Mother s 80th Birthday was spent at the restaurant last night ,we were 12 people ! First we were there almost 2 hrs before we even got bread . Over 2 hrs before food started being served . Also they did not have enough Everyone had to make compromises to there meal . 5 of us could not even get the main coarse we had wanted. Very disappointing . I felt terrible for the waitress who was doing the best she could under the circumstances. Not enough staff. The food I did get was good , nicely presented just not what I had wanted . The staff were very friendly and courteous! Would not go back with a large group . Probably best to keep it under 4 people .
Nice presentation, friendly staff, great prices, and free parking. Reserved a 12:30 seating for a lunch, and we were seated right away. There were a few tables full, but only one waitress. Unfortunately we didnt get any bread to hold us over until the appetizers arrived, so that made the wait feel longer. Starter -- Spanakopita (very good) Main -- lamb curry (good) Dessert -- cheesecake (not good) Spanakopita was excellent especially the garlic dip with it. The Lamb curry was lacking a bit of flavor. The cheesecake wasnt creamy, and felt like it had a bit too much zest. The server was nice, but didnt explain the dishes, and because she was by herself she was having a hard time keeping up. The portions arent very big, but enough for the price. I will probably come back to try the dinner service to see if its different.
Excellent
Such a hidden gem! The food and the service are consistently excellent.
Students get 25% off their bill and the food is phenomenal!
Lounge menu specials were great. Flavours could have been better but this is a learning restaurant so this could be forgiven. Nice atmosphere for both lunch and dinner.
students get 25% off
Great food great service
Being the first part of the term there were a couple of minor mistakes nothing that wasnt corrected immediately overall great service and good food. Will definitely be back.
Good ingredients wasted, bad service. Cheap prices but still not worth it
I loved the college, fun and interesting as a student. Support the school by visiting it. It could be a wide range of qualities so dont expect too much and youll probably be surprised. The students need the experience so please go in!!!
Service good. Lamb chops medium rare as requested. Plating beautiful. Well done!
