I ordered the food at 5 pm. I was told to pick it up at 6 pm. I arrived right at 6 and paid for the meal. It is almost 7 pm and I am still waiting. It was a very simple order.

As a vegetarian, Baan Thai is a gem for healthy authentic Thai cuisine! The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are attentive and knowledgeable of their menu and ingredients . My go-to dish is #40 Gaeng Keaw Warn Pak the green curry is vibrant, packed with fresh veggies, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The spices are perfectly balanced without overpowering the dish. I Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious, genuine Thai food!

What a great experience we had as a team at the restaurant staff took care of us. Food was amazing unique dishes, that I have never tried worth every value give it a shot. Thank you again to the team for a great service.

Pa nang and gaeng garee gai are absolutely delicious! Satay is amazing but moo Yang was very fatty, and pad Thai was dry and bland.

They ve definitely cut back on portion sizes and increased prices as well. Can t really justify spending $50 on meh-tier curry + rice moving forward.

Used to go regularly when i worked nearby. I always get the same dish, Pad Ki Mow with tofu. They spice it from 1 to 5 so i can get get the heat to go with the wonderful flavour. They have a bigger special with a whole bunch of small things which is more expensive but well worth the occasional indulgence. This is on my list of go-to places. Consistently scrumptious.

Poor customer service. I was told that my take out order would be ready in 45 minutes. They left me standing at the entrance of the restaurant for an additional 45 minutes without even an apology . The food as usual was good, but the poor service really left a bad taste!

I was expecting the food although lots of people said bad service. Now I do understand why they said bad service. And food was nothing special. Specially the Pad thai was too sweet, weired taste. What a wasting of money. And they keep baby chair in the washroom. Thats not right although the washroom is big enough.

My first visit. My wife and I lived the food. Fresh, large portions. She had a curry bowl that I cannot recall the name of and she was so full and had yet to finish it. I had cashew chicken. Best I ve ever had. Service was fast and friendly. It was quiet when we arrived at 5pm, but by the time we were served it was quite full. It s not a big place but decent seating. We were lucky. They require reservations on weekends. But we were early enough that they sat us. Def. A place worth visiting again.

I have been eating here for well over seven years and never had a bad meal. It follows the mostly standard Ottawa Thai restaurant menu, but does a good twist and offers a few different dishes to make it worthwhile. The set lunch menu is a fantastic option.

Hmm I rarely To put low star for any restaurant. We want to eat Thai food then we found some good reviews from google . We hope we can find a nice Thai restaurant because I m a big fan of Thai cuisine . But . The food made us super disappointed . Pad Thai is poor with small portion . Its taste supper weird sweet , the curry is like dessert. Chicken skewers are plain . The dressing for mango salad like sugar sirup , stir fried beef is spicy and sweet ( extremely disgusting and weird) I tried almost the food on the menu even the spring roll because we shared in our group . Everyone agree it s taste weird , not not not nice . imagined the chef cooked 1 or 2 kg sugar for our table today . The price is pricey . Only one thing I don t put one star is the staff . They re supper friendly and kind . I just rate 2 stars because of them but no more . The restaurant is clean but quite small and noisy . sorry we never be back again . Not recommended for other Asian. Maybe it s ok with others not Asian

Food is good. Service.. Mneh.. Server could have easily been nicer but chooses not to. Asked him to sit on an empty booth, and he simply said no, and told us to sit somewhere else with no reasoning. Found it a bit rude.

The Thai food was delicious - even the soup was flavourful. Unfortunately we had to wait almost an hour for our food. We were there at lunch and the restaurant was packed. I saw just 2 servers, very pleasant, but I think the kitchen was struggling to keep up. However, we will definitely go back!

We dine in and do take out. The portions and the presentation have changed in the past year when dining in. The quality is excellent- flavourful and fresh!

Recently had dinner here with my family and we all had a great dining experience. The food was fantastic. All of the ingredients used were fresh, and the dishes were beautifully presented and arranged. The waiters were all kind and very helpful. And we even got to meet the owner and chef of the restaurant, who you could tell was a good person and really prides himself in the food he serves! Highly recommend this restaurant!

I came here one random lunch afternoon and was quite impressed with their combination platter. The food quality and taste were on point, and they have extremely nice staff. Food came out timely and what you expect from a Thai restaurant. I will come back here to try the Khao Soi, its one of the few restaurants that carry this amazing specialized dish in Ottawa that I have found so far.

Although it looks like a simple and unpretentious small restaurant, it brings a high-end Thai food experience. The taste, atmosphere and service are all first-class. At 35 dollars per person plus tax and consumption, the price is not expensive. Great review of red curry! The chicken sticks with sauce are also popular!

I have ordered takeout from this restaurant and have been pretty happy. But my last experience left me not do. I called around 30 minutes before close (but I think I have done so before). They gave me the wrong stuff and no way to rectify as they had no closed. When I called no one cared they were like we are closed deal with your wrong order. Additionally the green curry was super thick and gloopy sweet -not like I have ever had it from here. So please do not order close to closing time-

Average Thai food. Ordered the padseew and fried salmon. Padseew noodle was dry the beef was tough to eat. The salmon tasted too fishy.

Have had many great meals here - but I ve now waited an hour AFTER when I was told my food would be ready. I ordered two hours ago. $200 meal ruined by this terrible experience.

Wow, so rude. I ordered a meal for delivery and after two hours, they still had not prepared the food. My poor delivery driver was waiting for a long time. I called the restaurant for an update, and they hung on me. Twice! Terrible service. I would never order from the place again. Be warned, they don t care about online orders!

First time going last night and absolutely loved it. The food was absolutely to die for. They have a truly authentic pad Thai, not ketchupy like a lot of other restaurants. The coconut curry is insane. Staff are wonderful and friendly, and the decor is cozy and authentic. I never would have thought Centrepointe would have somewhere like this. I m hooked, and I will be back again and again.

So happy to be back enjoying Baan Thai cuisine!

Beat Thai food in Ottawa

This was my first time visiting. My friend and I were going to a show at Centrepoint and stopped by for dinner. I was amazed at the flavours. The service was excellent. Make reservations or do take out, but try it.

Unfortunately my partner and I came here this weekend and were not pleased. I ordered a curry and he had a rice and vegetable dish but the flavours were not there. Also took us a long time to be attended to. I normally love Thai food but sadly will not be back.

Great Thai food that has all the favourites. Really like their Pad Thai, as well as the Pad Gra Pow which had just the right amount of heat to it. All done at a very affordable price.

Ive been going to Baan Thai for years. Just realized today I still havent done a review. Everything is always delicious, freshly made. My favourite today is their Mango salad...so yummy!!

Unfortunately, we ordered take-out from Baan Thai this evening and had to wait 1 hour and 10 minutes for our order to be ready. We went back into the restaurant several times and were given no update as to when the food would be ready. The staff seemed more concerned about their in-house customers and offered no apology or discount when the food was finally ready. This was a very disappointing experience and the result of poor planning on the part of the staff. They were clearly not equipped to handle both their in-house and take-out orders. We will not be ordering from Baan Thai again.

Authentic and tasty Thai dishes. Generous portions. Warm and efficient service for only two team members. More vegan options would be a nice addition to the menu. Delicious, good place to eat before a show at the Meridian Centrepoint Theatre.

This is my local Thai restaurant and I think it is the best in town. The dinner for 2 is great and so is dinner for 4, but my personal favourite is the spinning combo plate with the amazing spicy chicken mushroom soup. I almost didnt update my 5 star review because I dont want them to get too busy, but they really went above and beyond for me tonight with quick friendly service. By far my favourite restaurant in Ottawa. Parking: Always loads of spots in this small Centrepointe strip mall. Kid-friendliness: My kids love this restaurant and have been coming since they were little. Its a good way to teach them to love a bit of spice.

I love this little gem, located in Centrepointe, and have been there many times over the years with family and friends, both for dine-in and takeout. They are knowledgeable and flexible wrt allergies. My two favorites: pad kee mao and pad see ew.

A Centrepounte institution! Things havent changed there very much. When we moved to the neighborhood 10 years ago, we ordered takeout food at 5 PM and it wasnt ready until almost 7. Last night we ordered food at 510pm and it wasnt ready until almost 7 again. Of course, I was waiting there, standing in the foyer with all the other takeout customers, since 6pm. Thats when we were told it would be ready. The food is still tasty, and the prices are competitive. Just be prepared to wait - if you order takeout, it will take a long time to get ready. It is worth the wait, as long as youre prepared for it.

Discovered about ten years ago, we regularly travel the 28km between Baan Thai and home to eat delicious Tom Yum soup and panang chicken. The service is courteous, the cuisine tasty and generous. This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Ottawa. Parking: parking lot with around 100 spaces, which is enough to serve the entire small shopping center.

Was quite disappointed in my order today. Sadly had to order Skip (& the driver said there were LOTS of people waiting to pick up ... I wish we could---because we dont have a car to pick up ((& we really wanted char grilled calamari which is hard to find )). It was rubbery. Not great. The Pad Thai was sweet and no spice at all (tasted like ketchup), the green curry was just ok but lacked flavour sadly. I really hate writing bad reviews but rely on the newest ones to determine where to order which we do only every few months. I will not be ordering from here again sadly. Also will avoid Skip even though we have to rely on delivery because wow $$$$$$$$$!!!!!! Sorry Baan, you missed your mark despite a busy night.

I love Thai food but this was really too sweet. I had PAD Thai, it was like a cake. I dont understand so many good reviews.

Ive been here tons of times. It is hands down my favorite restaurant in Ottawa. The food is always served hot, promptly and with great service. Is recommend reservations as its always busy, but regardless of the place the service is wonderful. Edit; even after covid this place is still great. Clean, curtious and excellent food.

I went there with a group of friends and were told we had to sit at 2 tables for four. OK. The restaurant was busy so, while not perfect, it was understandable. A short while after getting our food one of the servers told us it was fine to move the tables together now and she helped pull them together. The man, we dont know his title, came back over and yelled at us in front of everyone for moving the tables after being told no. We explained that we were told to do so. He went back and spoke to the wrong server then came back and yelled some more! He didnt believe us and very loudly accused us of lying. We pointed out the woman who helped us and he went back and spoke to her. He never returned. No apologies, no nothing. If it werent for this incident I would have given them 5 stars as the food is fabulous!

Picked up food on Valentines day. The restaurant was packed and the staff were running around at full speed. Despite the stress of an extremely busy night, everyone was courteous and helpful and the food tasted amazing. Its a bit expensive, but its worth every penny. My wife was very happy with our Valentines day dinner and we both are way too much.

We ve eaten in here before the pandemic and we re impressed. Ordering takeout now, it took a couple tries to order on the phone because they were busy, but it was worth the wait. Very tasty and large portions, and the inside was well-laid out for picking up safely with a plexiglass barrier. There was a line outside for pickup but everyone distance appropriately. I was impressed!

Absolutely spot on. Great, diverse tasting dishes across the board, and finally....a significant amount of volume for each. Plenty for leftovers. Other restaurants should look at this approach to take-out, and emulate.

I understand times are tough, but not been upfront on your curry Dishes about not including rice its ridiculous. (15 to 17 dollars a dish) Every single Thai restaurant serves rice complementary with their curry Dishes. Not ordering ever again From you.

The food was delicious. However they have customers leave a message for a reservation because it is tiny. The 3rd time we went, we had called and left a message to reserve and when we got there, they seated us, gave us water and menus then came back to tell us we didnt have a reservation and though we went back and forth, they said they couldnt find it and told us we had to go because other people would come. That was beyond insulting and we never went back.

Baan Thai has been our go to Thai restaurant for years. Their yellow curry with chicken & potatoes is the best in the city... by far.

The food is great, but a lot of dishes are on the sweet side. The service really needs improvement.

Loved the food - ate vegetarian and it was very easy to order off the menu. I had a 3 pepper spicy item and LOVED the spice. The portions were good and we had a delicious coffee after our meal. I loved the ambiance, it could get loud because its a small place packed with people. Friendly service and quick turnaround for meals and tables. Would recommend to anyone passing by or any local looking for a new place to try!

Updated December 2019: changing my rating from 5 to 4....went there today for a birthday lunch. Arrived at 11:45 am and the place was fully packed by 12. We three ordered the same dish (pad si-ew chicken) and it was probably a mistake. First, two tables placed their orders after us got their dishes before us. After waiting for 40 minutes or so, we got our dishes and it was obvious to us that the portion was a lot smaller compared to what we used to get before. It looked like they cooked 2 orders but split it on 3 plates unevenly (more meat on one, more cauliflower on others). The dish was tasty but we were still a bit hungry afterwards. I hope this was just a one-off. Update March 2019: they dont take lunch reservations anymore. Its now first come, first serve. Great food. Small place and it is popular so reservation is strongly recommended. Once my friend went there for lunch right at 11:30 am and it was full already. They didnt want to wait around so they just left. This time we made a reservation for 11:30 am and by 11:50 am the restaurant was full already. we ordered combination of the day (lunch special) and chicken pad si-ew (L). Both dishes are delicious!
