If you’re anywhere in this area, pass by. It’s delicious (incredibly fresh) food, served up by wonderfully nice folks. It gets packed, but you’ll not have to wait any longer than 30-45 minutes, and, it’s worth the wait. Don’t miss this place. Highly recommended.
Briefly, I would say I like it and I will go there again, but there were some concerns: A. Front desk station was separate than dining hall. They expect me to stay in the front, to understand how their menu works, and then let me in. It was not welcoming and professional. B. Apparently servers were students on summer work, which was nice and like it. But in my case, after I ordered hot lobster, I received cold. Plus, delay. Not that professional! C. Starting rate per person, is almost 50$, but worth it. It includes appetizers, salads, main course, and dessert. Although some are better than others. D. In total, nice environment to spend some time with friends and families.
Great food & service. The 3lbs lobster and mussel buckets are full of the taste of sea, fresh and divine. So as the scallops! The buns are the best partner with the tomato soup or seafood chowder. Don’t forget the dessert, esp the lemon meringue and coconut pie.
This was a really fun experience being our first lobster supper. I really liked that you can order larger lobsters here. The 3lb lobster was very juice and meaty and perfectly cooked. I can't say the same for the steak nor the scallops. The steak was a bit tough, and not very flavorful. The 7 scallops were very small and very overcooked. The mussels were a bit plain, as well as the chowder, but nothing a bit of salt couldn't save. Loved the variety of salads and the desserts! If you are stopping by for lobster, this is a great choice. Service was excellent!
Love love love! Price is reasonable. Appetizer, seafood chowder, mussels, soft drinks coffee and deserts can have unlimited. At least you enter the restaurant before 8pm, you will have a table to enjoy the meal.
Hands down absolute BEST dining experience of our 20 day East Coast Road trip and possibly one of the best dining experiences in my entire life. The staff were so friendly and professional. The food was UNREAL! I’ve never eaten so much in my entire life. Here’s was I had -1 Bread roll -2 bowls of chowder -2 buckets of mussels (my wife and I shared these so I can’t take all the credit.) -A plate of salads (mixed greens, potato and colslaw.) -A 1.5 pound Atlantic Lobster -We shared coconut cream pie, Lemon meringue pie, strawberry shortcake. -I then ordered a 2nd piece of coconut cream pie. Up there with the best I’ve ever had. -2 beers I don’t even have words to describe this absolutely mind blowing experience. It’s something I truly will never forget. Thank you so much New Glasgow Lobster Suppers!
If you want a great Lobster meal this is a destination you can't miss. The rolls, the Mussels, the chowder, the salad and yes, a delicious lobster, followed by a good dessert. Lisa our server was outstanding. The place was packed at 5pm we were lucky to find a table arriving at 4:30. The pasta veggie option wasn't any good.
So stuffed! After visiting the toy factory we came here for lobster dinner! So good! I shared the 3 lb lobster with my husband. Our kids had lobster and pasta. All our meals came with a soup ( chowder or tomato), salad ( the slaw was bitter so none of us finished that portion), a bucket of mussels ( we had 2) and the main meal. You can only have seconds. It’s not all you can eat sides . When you finish one dish ( not the main ) the server will ask whether you want seconds. If you do, he /she will bring it to you. You cannot go backwards. For example you can’t have your main dish and then ask for the ( second ) soup. It’s finish one dish, then move onto the next . So after the soup , it’s salad. Then the main and desserts. Everything was very good! The soup was so hot too ( temperature)! For dessert, I had the coconut pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Husband had an apple pie and lemon meringue. Kids had strawberry shortcake w ice cream and a bowl of just ice cream. Overall this was a good meal and we all left super full!
Great place to get some maritime seafood. Cozy area and a scenic drive to get there
It was ok³
Always a place to go when visiting, my family loved the mussels buckets and the lobster was cooked wonderfully.
Very disappointed in the quality or the food for the price we paid. Chowder was watered down, two pieces of clam ,mostly potatoe Scallops were overcooked and broccoli served was yellow in parts.. Offered mushrooms and onion on husbands steak and combined it was maybe 1 tbsp. Pies were good.
Very good and beautiful menu. Only one downside, our three-pound lobster was almost empty. We reported this to the waitress who told us that it is not lobster season. However, those of our neighbors were very full. A restart in the kitchen or the addition of more lobster small and full would have been a better attitude. A chef knows what he sends to the dining room. On the other hand, the few appetizers were excellent. Go there, but ask for a full lobster
Take my Dad every year. Excellent every time!!!
April was our server and did a great job. Food was awesome! We had 40 in our party.
Seafood was very fresh, the steaks were ok. I would have done just the seafood next time. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I can see why this a local favorite. Food : 4/5
Bring your appetite!
A most excellent experience! The service, the food and the value are superb.
Amazing as always!
Traditional lobster supper. Good food. Fast service
10/10 PEI experience. Our server Christa was so attentive and helpful with our 4 small children. We had a blast!
Not miss experience if travelling to PEI
Absolutely delicious
New Glasgow Lobster Suppers are a summer tradition for my friends and I. I can t count the times I ve had wonderful meals there but never thought to write a review until this evening. We left and said in the parking lot that our server Lisa was 10 out of 10. The dinners are always very efficient but often don t interact much with employees. Lisa was so nice. Down to earth. Asked us where were from etc. She had such a friendly disposition. Thanks so much, Lisa!
What a fantastic dining experience. An absolute must when in PEI Food
Worth the price and the wait. A great meal with lots of options and plenty of food; where else can you get seconds of dessert? Fun atmosphere. It s popular for a reason. Good place to bring kids, very family friendly. Parking: Big field style parking lot with lots of room, even when the restaurant is. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly place; laid back atmosphere, lots of families. They provide colouring pages and crayons and everyone gets a plastic lobster bib.
Delicious supper! Traditional & fresh
Five of us visited on Saturday, and it was everything we could ask for and more. Special shout out to Harlee, our adorable server, who, when she found out that we had all come to PEI to have a weekend together after meeting online playing D&D during the pandemic, was absolutely ecstatic to hear that wed chosen PEI and that she got to be our server. The staff here is genuine, friendly, and attentive, and the food is good, honest, maritime food. If you dont like/want lobster (as two of us did not) there are lovely alternatives that are equally delicious. The view of the River Clyde is icing on the cake (or mile high meringue on the lemon pie, if you prefer). Attached is a photo of the five of us, lovingly taken by Harlee.
Nice enough place. We had a large group here and the service for the group was good. Food was relatively good with modest portions. The mussel bucket was quite an interesting appetizer feature and I consider it to be one of the strong points of the restaurant. We all had a great time and if in the area again would probably visit this establishment again.
I want to go back! The service was amazing and friendly, we stuffed our faces till we couldnt eat anymore. My only feedback is dont eat before you go, save room because its yummy.
The quality of food was mediocre at most. The soup was bland. Mussels were not washed properly, served in dirty water. 3 pound lobster was all shell and very little meat. Kids food was especially disappointing. We paid $18 for a tiny portion of chicken strips. When we left there almost $200 it didnt feel like a good deal, we could have a better dinner at any other restaurant for this amount of money.
This place was recommended by both family and friends. Portion sizes were great, and the potato salad was a highlight for me since it had a lot of paprika on top. I had the surf and turf and while it was tasty, the steak could have used a little more seasoning (just a little more pepper and salt perhaps). Overall it was a fun experience and our waitress was great in providing recommendations and what to have for dessert. While leaving make sure to sign the visitors book! Kid-friendliness: Good options for kids and reasonable prices. Our son had a half lobster which he loved. The strawberry shortcake for dessert was piled high and full of delicious strawberries.
A very well organized and smoothly run operation. The food was plentiful, delicious and the dinner came with a great variety of dishes. Excellent service.Stunning setting. A true highlight and must do when visiting PEI. Mariah was an outstanding server and her brother Jack was very informative and accommodating. Our hats off to Joan, the lady in charge of pie making. These were some of the best tasting pies we have had. The lemon meringue pie was a true masterpiece ( I am a pie enthusiast and pie recipe collector). Thanks for such a great experience. It truly embodied the unique essence of PEI.
The chowder was not very good but the rolls were amazing and the mussels and lobster were delicious. I recommend the strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Food was delicious best lobster I ve ever had
Seafood is good quality but all other food is unseasoned and quite disgusting. Service system is confusing and staff seemed extremely overwhelmed. Our waitress didn t know what beers were on tap (there are only four and probably haven t changed all summer). Would not recommend if you are looking for a flavourful culinary experience.
Good to know: you choose your meal at the door and then you are seated, if you have a reservation you will not be seated until your whole party is there and there is no Wi-Fi or reception to hurry your friends along or get an ETA. Although my tech friend pointed out there is a wifi installed in the ceiling Hostesses were not hospitable. Our waitress was lovely, however. Rolls and mussels were fabulous. Salads were atrocious. The seafood chowder (only clams?) and the tomato soup were disappointing. They crack the lobsters pretty well so its easy to get it out. Coconut cream pie was mediocre but the strawberry shortcake was divine. There are no noise baffles so it is loud in there. I do not recommend for young kids/kids who cant sit still. There are a few courses that dont take a super long time but you dont want the kids running under those big trays of food.
An experience a tourist has to do once, and once you do, you will want to do it again! Chloe was fantastic, very accommodating to a large group Food
New Glasgow was a great experience! The lobster was delicious and the service was amazing, our server Laura was so sweet!
Lots of food, many servings. Personally, I liked it. My lobster was delicious, although I was unaware that it did not come with sides like the other entrees. But was already quite full by that time, so it was fine. Starts with delicious fresh baked buns & butter, and unlimited mussels. All good. Then your soup of choice. The chowder was good, needed salt. Tomatoe was more of a salsa-y style, our group didnt enjoy it. The 3 salad option combo plate was not the best. Dessert, also ok. Not bad. Included your drinks as well. Overall for the large amt of food, was good in my opinion. Others did not enjoy their fish or steak.
A very cool island experience. Great mussels and lobster. Cant say no to the lemon meringue pie!
Great place, great food, and great service. Thank you to our server Lydia!
I had not been in a few decades. I was so excited to bring my husband for his first time. I was so disappointed. The lobster was not cooked in sea water, the muscles were steamed but not in salty water and the sea food chowder had no flavor. As a maritimer the flavors were just not there. Hubby had order me a 2lb lobster. The shell was the right size, but as we know at this time of year the shells are not full. My lobster may have weighed 1.25 lbs. The buns delicious, the lemon meringue pie oh so yummy. Hubby ordered the pesto pasta. You better realy really like lots and lots of pesto. Tomatoe soup was good. Service was amazing, friendly, sympathetic, efficient. The food food for us was very very disappointing. A return for us is highly unlikely.
You go here for the lobster. Its a mass-produced experience, but thats what you expect. Lobster is great. Loved the chowder as well. Mussels are just cooked in water, no sauce. Good of thats what you like. Maybe pass on everything else.
Noisy... Service was impeccable.... I had to send my foot back cuz.It was that bad... My wife said her lobster was underweight and overpaid.... The bowl of soup.Ive seen Bigger cups at a barbie kitchen set.... Ordered tomato penne with vegetables.. The sauce was good, but I didnt see no.Vegetables Certainly.Dont recommend the place. And it wasnt worth a $150... We wont be going back
Our annual visit to PEI would not be complete without a lobster supper at New Glasglow. Never disappoints, from friendly service to excellent food and portions to a beautiful river view. Kid-friendliness: My daughter loves the kids chicken tenders with homemade potato chips and ice cream for dessert. She is not a fan of salads, so they gave her carrots, cucumbers, and ranch dressing, which she enjoyed.
A special experience. Lots of tasty choices. If you dont like lobster, there are options. Lobster dinner includes soup or chowder, mussels, salad plate, and dessert. So good. Food
Doesnt serve lobster rolls. I heard fishermans wharf lobster rolls were better
The salad was not pleasing to the eye, but we tried it and the only good think was the coleslaw. The chocolate cake had no flavor and hardly any icing. The husband did like his pie, and tea just came in a cup without a hot water pot or the tea bag, and it was almost cold, also the chowder wasnt even hot . The only thing we liked was the rolls, lobster ,coleslaw and my husband pie. So we will not return very disappointed as a Islander.
Had my very first lobster supper experience earlier and it was amazing! Everything was fresh and tasty, staff is so kind, and fairly priced! You won t leave hungry that s for sure. Would travel from Ontario for a New Glasgow Lobster Supper any day! Thank you to Chloe our lovely waitress, she was awesome!
Lobster and mussels were great
Great place
Truely a must do experience if you are visiting PEI. When we got there at 5PM, the parking lot was packed and the line was out the door. Dont be dismayed, it was only a matter of minutes before we were seated and food was arriving. Mussels were fantastic, chowder was very flavorable. salad was a basic serving of potato salad, slaw and a garden salad. Was good, but the main event was the lobster. You can get 1#, 1.5# or 2# lobster. We opted for the 1# each and it was a great amount. Dont worry that the placemats show you how to breakdown a lobster, they come split and cracked. It was easy to get every bite. Dont miss this opportunity if visiting PEI.
Our server Alyssa was amazing. It was a very family friendly, delicious dinner. Thank you!
A fun place to visit but seemed a bit of a well oiled tourist trap. Chowder was bland and lukewarm. Scallops just OK. The guys who ordered lobster were well happy, and the staff were fantastic. Youll not leave hungry but I wouldnt return.
This meal has become a yearly tradition for us now. It is a little pricey but worth it for the experience and what you get for food. Definitely take them up on their offer of can I get you any more dessert. Great overall experience.
Referred by a friend who was here 31 years ago for their honeymoon. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Left full. Monique was a great server. We were here at 4 so a little busy to get seated but it went well and we beat the tour busses.
Our server was very cheerful and made our experience enjoyable. The lobster, mussels, and desserts were very good. I didnt much like the rapid pace of the whole experience, but I do understand the reasoning with tourists coming and going on busses and needing to get back to ships, etc.
Seafood lovers delight.
The staff and dining room were great. The sea food was less than spectacular compared to some of the other meals we had on the Island.
Food was spectacular. you are allowed seconds of everything except entrées.(I ate 3 bowls of chowder) Service was excellent and they deliver everything as soon as you finished the previous course. The waiters were very friendly plus the lobster bibs and the instructional placemats really added to the island atmosphere. Value was excellent, highly recommend
My wife and I order scallop dinner and a haddock dinner, absolutely inedible, I know its a lobster place but, Jesus, what we were served was hate on a dish. It was horrible. Borderline theft. Service was spectacular. I actually felt bad for her, she saw everything that was brought to us, and asked us if we would like anything in replacement but we said no. This place is slipping/ slacking over the last couple of years. My Scallops tasted like bubble gum it was so chewy and rubbery I could have blew a bubble with them, and my wifes potato had dirt or sand still on it as if they literally pick from farm right into the pot. Now thats a true farm to table experience lol. Seems like lately that I have been spending big money eating out and receiving sub-par food. These restaurants need to get their act together.
Great value, lots of supper to be enjoyed. All courses had options for everyone, accomodate GF easily, and the GF biscuits were the best ever. GF brownies for dessert were top notch. This was a memorable meal! Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free options for four course meal. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly atmosphere.
We absolutely loved this place and we left absolutely stuffed! We each got the 1.5lb lobster and it was so fresh and delicious. The entire meal and the service was phenomenal Food : 5/5
Better lobster rolls to be had across pei but definitely a historical spot
The experience of a real lobster supper. You are served a starter of seafood chowder, then followed by mussels as desired, a small salad and then the main course and dessert as desired. Several choices of main course but the best is to take a lobster there are one or two pounds and 3 or 4 pounds in limited quantity. I was very impressed with the service! A young girl served us in English but as soon as she heard us speaking in French to our daughter she started speaking in French (which she did not fully master but the effort was much appreciated thank you Grace ) Parking: Plenty of parking Kid-friendliness: Childrens menu
Its a 70s wood panel rec room-style dining hall (did this place used to be a church?), hence no atmosphere. Baby crying at the table in the next row, guests wearing bibs stuffing their faces with all-you-can-eat appetizers, and crustaceans. Service: Note to management: dont seat your guests at tables positioned directly beside and under the AC unit. Its really ignorant and disrespectful. Food: dinner rolls with butter: fresh, warm, generic, maybe passable. Coleslaw: good--not too creamy, sweet, or sour. Potato salad: meh but too much paprika. balsamic salad: pretty harsh flavour. Caesar salad: a joke, honestly, it was salad greens doused in ranch dressing. Seafood chowder: meh. Mussels: fresh and plentiful but pretty very basic, with salted butter. Lobster: the same, minus the plentiful aspect and frankly on the pricey side (I thought there was a glut of lobster this year?). Desserts: poor. The strawberry shortcake was slapped together in a moment of disregard, almost literally drowning, supersaturated, in cheap thin strawberry sauce. The cheapest vanilla ice cream Ive tasted in years. Coffee: pretty awful, probably from one of those massive percolator vat contraptions. Save your money and spend it at Water Prince in Charlottetown. I have no affiliation with either establishment.
I have came back yet again, our family has come here ever year for many years and with few exceptions. This yeas they have changed the AYCE feature from the appetizers and deserts. It is now seconds only. That was the best feature of the supper. We have chosen not to come this year. We will frequent the Fishermans warf from now on. I have come back to rereview NGLS. I was with family who really wanted to give it a try so I went along even though I swore I never would again after my last experience. Well I have to say I am so glad I did. NGLS you have redeemed yourself. The meal. Was amazing in every way. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service was exceptional (thanks Fiona). I dont know what went wrong 2 years ago but I am Tha kful you have gone back to your previous quality. We will be back. Here is my privous review. We have been the NGLS many times and always thought it was amazing. It has been a couple years since.we have been here However this year we were extremely disappointed. The mussels were undercooked and slimy the salad plate which used to be amazing were inedible the chowder which used tbe my favorite part was barely ok. The desert they claim is homemade I dont think was. The strawberry shortcake used to be made with fresh berries now tasted as if they had been frozen. And the feature lobsters were overcooked for everyone in our party. We will be trying fishermans warf next year for our lobster supper.. Again thank you for the amazing meal this year. It was fantastic.
Great experience for the entire family. Visit there every year when there Wheelchair accessibility: An easy access for the elderly. Recommended dishes 1 5lb Lobster Supper, Seafood Chowder, Pei Mussels
This was the best lobster/seafood experience I had in PEI.
Well well, the little gem is an absolute treasure. Don t be fooled by the initial pricing when you arrive. It is 100% worth every dollar. Everything is included except for alcoholic drinks. From the freshly made basket of buns, yes home made. To the seafood chowder, the mussels. Your palate is screaming with oh yeah I need more of this. Next comes out salad with coleslaw and homemade potato salad. But wait you re not done yet. Your main course of lobster is brought out. PEIs finest. OMG it is so good. Then you re almost finished, but dessert is next. Choose between ice cream or Lemon meringue pie or strawberry shortcake. There are non seafood options available, as well as a kids menu. Please remember that this is a 5 course meal, and you need to enjoy it all. Taking your time with friends or family. No rushing here. STRONGLY RECOMMEND when you come to PEI.
Loved it. The food, the staff, everything was great.
The kitschy school-dinners vibe of the dining hall is folksy and authentic, but at the end of the day the food is unremarkable and horrendously overpriced. For what theyre serving, the prices should be HALF of what they are. Sure you can get unlimited chowder and salad (and theyre included in the price), but to charge $48 for a plate of six scallops and uninteresting vegetables is pretty shocking. Our server was excellent and we tipped her well, but we certainly wont return or recommend this place to anyone.
Mussels were exc, but everything else was barely fair. So loud we couldnt hear the server or each other. Service was adequate. Its really not worth the price.
Always my biggest highlight coming to the island. As our server said if you leave hungry- that s your fault! So much food, reasonably priced! They have a great system and our server Julie was working very hard and very pleasant and attentive. Only complaint was our steak was a bit cold. But we always thoroughly enjoy the food and can t wait to come back next year!
Absolutely delicious food. Great service! Especially if you have kids. However be warned this place is in a cellphone deadzone. Make sure you account for that when coming.
Lobster was fantastic!
This place did not disappoint! We traveled quite the distance in order to get there. We did the traditional supper, lobster, mussels, chowder. It was amazing. Loved it!
The lobster was excellent, but I wouldn t bother ordering anything else. The scallops were small and very overcooked. The steak was ordered medium and came out very well done and therefore chewy. The clam chowder needed seasoning and was mostly the soup base and not enough clams and potatoes. The dessert did not taste homemade and the crust was likely made with lard or margarine not butter. The rolls were great and the salad was good too. Our server Lisa was amazing. Overall unfortunately a disappointing experience, especially for almost $300 for 4 people and we wouldn t go back.
OMG. A 5 course dinner that you are stuffed with quality seafood, amazing service, felt like sitting at a family dinner with friends. The food keeps coming, very well priced.
Amazing food .amazing time never ate so much good stuff Had the 2 lb lobster -do it!! Parking: Multiple areas to park including Handicap-Stalls Kid-friendliness: Seemed very accommodating for kids
I visited this restaurant after looking up reviews on Google. I was worried if the quality of this place would be good because it was my first trip with my parents. First of all, in my experience, the food here satisfies me. I was fortunate enough to be able to walk right in without a lineup, but the lineup was quickly behind me. Aidan, who served and helped our family, was kind and explained well, and thanked him for the quick service. The first bread that came out was so delicious that my parents ate two each. We are satisfied with the soup, fresh salad, lobster, steak (medium well done) and fresh mussels for all courses. Compared to other restaurants weve been to, I think the quality is good for the price. The meal cost included bread, soup, salad, fresh mussels, coffee, and ice cream. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my acquaintances who are planning a trip here. Kid-friendliness: Aidan, who served and helped our family, was kind and explained well, and thanked him for the quick service with friendly.
Definitely wasnt expecting a four course meal but the wait was well worth it!
While food quality is 5, service 5 and atmosphere is 5, I felt so much guilt that so much food was wasted and so much garbage was generated in this course of dinner. The owner really should think about perhaps lowering the price and provide less food. This was gluttony at its peak...We felt very good and very disgusted at the same time.
A must-see on the island. Always so busy!
Love this place. Great meal! Also want to give a special mention to our server, Grace, who served us downstairs tonight. Shes a true professional. Very personable and attentive. Thank you for making our time extra special!
Everything is delicious! Its very easy to overeat!
An absolute must if you are in the area. Good price, great food and lovely service. Dont pass on the mussels!!!
The food is nothing extraordinary, but the service was great, and the place has a special aura to it. A bit pricey, but nothing outrageous.
I cant say enough good things about our experience! The value is incredible, they were very accommodating with my gluten allergy (they even had gf biscuits) and the food was delicious. Its a must visit on the island. We went at 4:45 pm and there was hardly a line!
Great place for a traditional PEI lobster dinner! Good food and pleasant service! Highly recommend!
Lobster dinner in PEI. New Glasgow Lobster Supper has the bottomless buckets of delicious mussels included as well as clam chowder, salad, dessert and coffe / tea. 1lb Lobster dinner was $50 (Aug 2024). Very busy. Place was full in a Monday for dinner. I will be coming here whenever I am in PEI! Parking: Parking lot is full, but the parking extends to the field beside. Place was full and still more parking available.
Great! Ambiance can be better described as a hall, but it fits! The food and service are absolutely great! Attention, entry only until 8 p.m. After that you stay until full... and that can mean very full. You always order a menu.
This is an absolute must if you are in PEI. It is a community staple. Incredible lobsters, mussels, and the buns are stellar and store made from scratch. Unlimited mussels, bread, tasty clam chowder, and salad plates.
Fantastic experience
Never been before,so I wanted to see what it was all about. Heard so many good remarks about this place. Was not impressed. Took 3 hours to finish our supper The young guy that was looking after our table did an excellent job.I just wasnt comfortable paying at the door as you were coming in with a big line up I saw,I ate and it was good not exceptional but I think I would just buy some Lobsters next time and have a salad with it.
My first time to visit because my niece and her husband treated me to dinner here for my 60th birthday and it was an amazing experience. The ambience is perfect, food is to die for and the service is superb.
Wow! Tons of food included! Just a perfect Lobster Supper
What an amazing experience!! The service was so spectacular and friendly They offer 3 salads, seafood chowder (so delicious) and order more if you have room Them a bucket of local mussels then your main Melt in th mouth lobster was our choice and then deserts stunning perfect pies Thank you for a wonderful dinner
Great restaurant, a lot of food, main course fabulous. Dessert wonderful. Service cant be beat. Worth the trip in PEI.
If you don t order lobster, skip this place. Food was subpar, no flavour and tiny portions. Price was super high. Service was very slow. Experience was poor. Would not recommend.
PEI lobster and mussels outstanding
This was our first lobster dinner in PEI and we are glad we had it here. The lobster and mussels was the freshest we have ever had in Canada, the meal, sides and dessert were all delicious. Our server was very attentive too. Try to come atleast 20 minutes before they open as the line can get pretty long.
Amazing lobster early dinner, friendly staff, great food and ok drink list. Ample parking outside. They don t take booking except for bigger group, opens at 4pm
Went here in 2018 and I still often think about my supper in New Glasgow. This place is an institution, and it is honestly worth going to PEI just for this special place. I must return!
Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience .Soup was cold, sent back to reheat, came back hot. Main dish was steak, and again served cold, sent back and AGAIN was brought back cold. Waitress (Meghan) was very unattentive, and myself and another person in our group of 6 had the same experience. We sat with our full cold entrees in front of us while the rest of our party enjoyed the dessert. Spoke to manager, and he refunded 1/2 the cost of my meal. Very disappointed
An exceptional experience
This place is fabulous! Our lobster dinners far surpassed our expectations! This was a huge and delicious feast served by a kind and attentive staff member, Ethan. One member of our group is celiac and the front of house staff, cooks and Ethan went over and above to make sure she was taken care of - fresh gluten free biscuits, gf soup, salads, pasta and brownie. She said the biscuits and brownie were some of the best gluten free food she has had :) Their buns are homemade and amazing! Lobster was delicious! Desserts knocked it out of the park (mile high lemon meringue pie, coconut cream pie, and gluten free brownies). Wonderful place to visit! So glad we made a point of coming while visiting PEI!
The best lobster supper on the island. Not to be missed!
Very bussy, enourmous place, famous for lobster suppers. Tooo big for us Food
We found the whole experience fantastic. Our server Crystal was beyond excellent.
Best lobster I have ever had ! So fresh!
We arrived to find lots of parking space, very easy to get in and out. Greeted by a lovely lady at the front entry who explained each of the entrees, it was a tough decision- everything sounded amazing, after choosing we were lead to our table by our hostess, who mentioned she had 2 sisters also working tonight, love the family atmosphere. Our server Lydia was exceptional- her first season and she did amazing. Explaining we could not only have one helping but two, three, four etc etc. of the pei mussels, 3 different salads, freshly baked rolls, soup and or chowder, she was very friendly, provided a very personable experience. We perhaps said 20 times throughout our meal, She is so nice! My mother had the scallops and new pei potatoes, my daughter the salmon and I had ham and scalloped potatoes, all of which were cooked perfectly. Don t forget to save room for dessert, too many choices to name, but that strawberry shortcake is a delight! We had a great evening. Thank you Lydia and staff!
Best lobster meal ever
A must go if you like seafood.
Had my first ever lobster church supper here, this place was recommended by a friend of ours who came to PI a few years back, the food was amazing. The service was , definitely a stop on any visit to PEI. They have a customer for life with me.
(Except the lady in the very first front desk, who was a bit unfriendly) EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE, especially our waiter named Tristan, was amazing
Arrive extra hungry and be ready to eat a lot !! Excellent meal and service. Had the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. Lots of food given and a fun small-town atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Excellent value for money. Recommend 4lb large lobster for share Worth a special drive There is a store on Pei Island where you can park on the lawn. The disadvantage is that there is no Internet, so it is best to prepare offline maps in advance, but it is worth it. It is also a good way back to the south after traveling to the north.
A large open community type eating venue. The service was impeccable. The cadence of the meal was great. The freshly steamed, then chilled pre-cracked lobster was delicious!
The best lobster dinner ever! The value for the price is unbeatable. Guaranteed to not to leave hungry!
Food was awesome and our server was friendly and very accommodating. Vegetarian options: Penney pasta Food : 5/5 |
The quality and quantity of the food was above expectation, and the service was outstanding! The atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I would strongly recommend The New Glasgow Lobster Suppers.
This place was awesome. I didn t know what to expect but it was a real nice place, service was great and food was spectacular.
We have been there many times in the past and will be visiting there later this summer. It has always been a wonderful experience.
food is luke warm, and when they asked to warm it for me, it was still the same. very disapointing Vegetarian options: too cold. and dry very dissapointed
Very cool, highly recommend to any tourists in the area. Come hungry, it s a lot of food!
Stopped in tonight for the lobster dinner. We were not disappointed. The mussels are amazing, the chowder is really good, but maybe 4 stars. The lobster was cooked perfectly and rye pies were awesome. Janet looked after us and made the experience 6 stars.
An absolute delight coming to new Glasgow lobster supper during our vacation to Prince Edward Island. Everything from bread rolls to the lobster was fantastic! A must try if visiting PEI
Amazing service from Chloe! She was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious - I tried a variety of dishes and everything was great. The trip might be a bit long, but the overall experience is definitely worth it.
Great PEI experience. Those in our party who had lobster loved it. I had the salmon dinner. The salmon was cooked to perfection! There is lots of food in the package... fresh rolls, steamed mussels, salad, chowder (all you can eat). Beautiful lemon meringue pie.
Expensive and worth it!
Just like a fall supper in the prairies. Big hall, all you can eat mussels Kid-friendliness: Hot dogs available for kids. Food : 5/5 |
Portions are huge; all-you-can-eat of any course except the mains, but with so much of it under-seasoned and a little bland, we hardly took advantage of that fact. With the exception of the pies that were tasty. The staff were very friendly and kind, they helped us have a great time. Interior was pretty clean, but has the vibe of an undecorated wedding hall or church basement from the 1980s.
Having never experienced a lobster supper before, it was so much fun! The food was tasty and plentiful, we would recommend this experience as a must do while on the Island. We went just before 6pm on Friday night an no wait. Have your order ready when you arrive since you order and pay before seating. Bring cash for gratuity for your server since it s not included and they are running all night to serve you!
Lobster Dinner was delicious! Our Server Mariah was just lovely and very attentive despite being run off her feet..place was hopping - for good reason..great value !
Always an excellent time! Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp available, wheelchair accessible washrooms Food : 5/5 |
Freshest lobster evah! They came highly recommended by a local, and we not disappointed!
Always long lines but they move quickly. Lots of fun. We even went around the side to see the tanks where they keep the lobsters.
First time here and we were seated in the basement, by a window overlooking the river at least. It s like a big banquet hall with no decor. Many courses of food, but pretty average. The non-seafood items are not very great. I got the surf and turf which included a tough steak with little seasoning and half and lobster with its green liver smeered on top (they like that part) which looks gross. But the lobster was good. If you like lobster just get 2 pounds of it and skip the rest.
Excellent service, food, and service!
Atmosphere is my favorite. Feels like youre having a fancy church dinner. The staff working were really friendly and hilarious. The food was what we went for and we were absolutely not disappointed. Highly recommend the lobster (does that go without saying?). Vegetarian options: There was an option. I forget what it was. Parking: The parking lot is a field. Kid-friendliness: Kids got a separate option.
The homemade rolls, seafood chowder, and lobster were delicious. Service is always great, they work very hard and are so welcoming and friendly. Very reasonably priced meals. A great place for any occasion.
I can t rave about this place enough, I ate to my hearts content, and I m never going to forgot how delicious and flavourful the lobster tasted. I m going to dream about that lobster. The clam chowder was perfection and the mussels were fresh. The restaurant alone is worth a trip to PEI. If I ever come back to the island I m definitely coming back.
Great food and incredible value. We were looking forward to a nice East Coast lobster dinner, and this surpassed our expectations.
Kids loved the mussels and lobsters. The chowder seemed watered down but the main attraction was the seafood and it didn t disappoint!
The brioche is the best I have had for a while
There is a lot of food make sure your hungry!
The meal started great! Mussels were great, rolls and salads outstanding. But the main course, especially surf and turf was mediocre. Dont order medium!
Classic lobster supper experience. Plenty of good food and nearly unlimited mussels. The strawberry shortcake was amazing!
The best experience!! great food and our server was so nice!
Very nice restaurant to eat lobster
This place is truly special. I went in for a birthday dinner with family, and I couldnt have asked for a better dining experience. Just make sure you dont show up too late! Its always busy, and a multiple course dinner service. Its a must-go restaurant for anyone visiting the Island, as it will fill your belly and fill your heart. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite lively, full of laughter and good conversations. The food was so delicious, I got a second portion of everything. A special thank you to my waitress Hannah who was working hard and gave us a fantastic service experience. I cant wait for my next visit to New Glasgow Lobster Suppers!
Parking: Parking may extend beyond the lot onto the grass. Food
As expected
We were looking for a place to eat lobster and found this place. Based on the reviews we had to visit. We ordered a 1 lb and 1 1/2 lb lobsters and panned fried scallops as our main dishes. Had the seafood chowder to start. It was creamy and delicious, we ordered seconds. The bucket of mussels was so good, we wanted to order more but needed to save room for our main course. The plate with a sampling of salads was a good palate cleanser especially with everything so buttery. The lobsters were scrumptious. Was cooked perfectly. Scallops were okay nothing special. For dessert we had the chocolate cake which was very moist and the strawberry shortcake with ice cream which unfortunately was abit mushy. Overall a fantastic experience. Highly recommended.
I got the 1.5 pound lobster meal which was incredible. Loved the unlimited ally s which included salad, steaming buns, potato salad, seafood chowder, mussels and coleslaw. The Lobster was very sweet. It was a very good meal. However, my son had the surf and turf, and the steak isn t worth it . It must have been 1/4-1/2 inch thick and overcooked. Also, for three people it was $187 plus tip! Definitely a steep price. I would rather have been given the option of only one appetizer and charge less. It s in a community hall. Nothing fancy. Understaffed too.
Nice place. I never consumed at once so much marine food. Interesting experience.
Waited 1.5 hours on a week night to get in the door. Definitely recommend making reservations! Great experience! We got a little tour of the lobster pound in the basement after our meal. Enjoyed visiting with the founders descendants.
Mediocre for the price. Feels like an eatery, priced like a high end restaurant. A nice experience, but food is quite basic.
So so so good. Service was so fast and waiters were very nice. Fresh rolls, amazing desserts, fresh lobster, buckets of muscles. It was delicious!
The food was EXCELLENT! They give you a lot of food - four course meal. The service was GREAT. You have to love seafood to eat at this restaurant. No fried food here. It is expensive but worth it. I had the seafood chowder (you can have a second), mussels (you can have a second), salad (three salads on a plate: vegetable, coleslaw, and potato), lobster, and a strawberry shortcake with whip cream and ice cream. I also tried the scallops - DELICIOUS!!
Wow wow wow. Had the surf and turf dinner and was pleasently surprised. Food was perfectly prepared, service was great and I rolled out so stuffed.
Great lobster dinner
Love, love , love this place. Amazing fast service, home style atmosphere! And there is something for everyone, even me with my allergy to lobster. The ham dinner was very good!
One of my favorite places to dine when on PEI
Weve been coming here for about 11 years now, and I am sad to say because of our last visit, we wont be returning. The food has always been great, and the service is still unbelievable, but our latest visit was not a good experience. The mussels usually are amazing, but this time they were off, my wife had a particularly bad one and asked if it was normal for them to have a strong fishy flavour. Im no expert,,,but no they should not. The drive back from the restaurant was when things went south, I had to pull over twice for her to,,,,well you know. This happened for about another two hours as she became violently ill. Im happy to say she recovered the next morning and other than a sore throat and mild dehydration she was fine. Its unfortunate that this happened as we love the place and were so excited to visit every year, but after this experience we just cant go back.
I went for the first time a week ago while visiting Prince Edward Island and I have to tell you this is the place to go if you have a taste for a good fruit meal sea,, I highly recommend this place..
The meal and the service was excellent. One small criticism there should be an option for no onions in the potato salad. Everything else was perfect. Definitely going again.
A bit of a pig out but you have to go...I went twice...seconds of everything except the lobster and the staff are top notch! Oh, and the food is superb! Gotta go...its what you want! Food : 5/5
best place ever, found by accident..perfectly cooked lobster, lots of food and great staff
Great service. Plenty to eat. Average eater, order the 1.5 lobster.
Best place for a lobster dinner on the island! 4 courses! Oh Yeah! Our waitress Ellie was gracious and charming. Such a great vibe!
The experience was amazing food was super good I have no complaints at all
Very loud because it s very busy.
The only reason I gave 4 stars for atmosphere is it is very loud and crowded...but...still pleasant enough Vegetarian options: Vegetarian option Kid-friendliness: Children menus Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps
Best lobster dinner Ive ever had. 10/10 would do again!
Have 1.5 lb Lobster Tonight w/ I believe 1 lb of shell and 0.5 lb of meat ?! Totally not what I was expected. Don t blame the weather, not that cold yet, because I had a great Lobster dinner the night before. Side orders are unlimited but . People said can not find good on PEI. And This one recommended by the local. ** By the way the restaurant only Open 3.5 hrs/day from 16:00 to 19:30. Line up needs. Purchase meals tickets @ door. Leave Tips on the table**
Nice people. Mediocre food at best. We won t go back.
Can get anything better than the lobster dinner here.
Wow is all I can say! Its been a few years since Ive been here. This time I took my wife. Shes from a seafood port in Europe and she said this was the best lobster she has ever had. This means lots. The food is delish, the all you can eat mussels and soup is the icing on the cake. The service was impeccable. Jennifer was on top of everything. She was extra understanding as we had a child with us. All the staff was friendly and very quick and efficient. Cant wait to go back!
Part of a tour, but awesome food and good service.
Huge disappointment. Been here many times. Came back after COVID and the food was mediocre . Server did not want to be there. Wont be back.
