This is what food ought to be. Fresh, local, delicious, organic, nourishing, real, and perfectly cooked! I ate here with my family. We all got different menu items and we all agreed that it was one of the best meals of our lives. It was incredibly flavorful without being overly complex or overdone. You could tell everything was made from only the freshest and best possible ingredients. It was as good as Thanksgiving (but different, of course). I felt like I was eating the harvest! And the place is very cozy and charming, too. All this for very reasonable prices! And perhaps the best mixed drink I have ever had as well… I wish I had a place like this near where I live - I would eat there as often as possible!
It's rare to see a perfect 5* review for a bistro so we were a bit sceptical, and when we parked outside we almost changed our minds as it is unusually understated. But, we are so glad we went in! It was the best dining experience I have had in recent memory and hands down the best restaurant we have been in NS. To the point that i am amazed it's not spoken about as a must go to destination in the province (to my knowledge). We will be returning on our own and whenever we have friends and family come to visit (from Scotland). Can't wait.
We visited this place for the first time tonight, and we cant recommend it enough. Its really deserves the 5/5 stars. Everything was absolutely perfect. The food delicious, cocktails were neat. Service absolutely outstanding. Brie the waitress was so lovely, friendly and efficient. We will definitely go back!
The service was excellent, the staff was friendly and owner Tom was wonderful! We felt welcomed right from the start. There were a good variety of options on the menu. For seafood, we tried scallops, oysters and mussels. All very fresh and delicious. My mushroom and bacon pasta was authentic, fresh, and tho portion did not seem big, don’t be deceived, it would certainly fill you up with the richness of the sauce and ingredients! It was beautiful. We also had their daily special which was a halibut on croquette, it was prepared very well. It was a very nice easy going vibe with good honest food experience. We highly recommend this place.
Amazing food and amazing experience. There are few if any places in NS doing farm-to-table on the level and quality offered by Little Gull. We have been meaning to come out here for a long time now, we are so glad we finally made the 1h30 journey up from Halifax tonight. I definitely recommend making a reservation, as it's an intimate space open only 4 nights per week. We shared a handful of dishes - highly recommend starting with some focaccia bread as soon as you order drinks. Scallops in a tarragon sauce, a seared tuna nightly special, and a made-in-house pasta dish, all phenomenal. Cocktails and desserts also amazing - the rhubarb Negroni was a personal favourite. Normally we just share one dessert but we ended up sharing two and wish we had room to try them all. The chefs are owner-operators and we chatted at length at the end of our night. They go to great effort to source everything locally and build relationships with local producers. They also grow a handful of menu ingredients themselves, even down to the mint in the made-in-house ice cream. As I said, there is really nowhere else in NS, especially outside of the City, that is doing farm-to-table on this level. They are working 24/7/365 to produce and serve absolutely top quality food 4 nights a week and it shows. Final note, the atmosphere is perfect, it's a fine dining experience in a stylish and unpretentious space where anybody can feel comfortable. Thanks for an amazing meal, we will definitely be back!
I visited New Glasgow and had two times a wonderful evening in Little Gull Bistro. I had such delicious meals and excellent service! I would recommanded to anybody!
The Little Gull delivered a very flavourful and memorable evening of dining. The locally sourced Oysters were exceptional, and the baked oysters are certainly my new favourite dish and reason enough to come back time and again. The beef tenderloin was sumptuous and their proprietary Gull butter elevated it to its highest potential. The pecan tart for dessert was brilliant as well! The immense attention to detail found in every facet of dining at the Little Gull made for a tremendous evening out in New Glasgow with my missus.
Came from Alberta to visit the Little Gull, and Willow and Tom have outdone themselves. Baked oysters were out of this world, steak was perfectly cooked, and the wild mushroom casarecce was a favorite recommendation made by Tom. The cocktail was as good as it was pretty, and we couldn't get enough of their homemade Little Gull butter. Definitely recommend visiting here for the great food and inviting atmosphere. You won't regret it.

Unfortunately tried twice to eat here, once it was closed for an event however they had no sign and I knocked at the door while staff inside ignored me. I tried calling twice and was informed by the second call about the private event. The second time it was closed without any notice although google stated it was open. It seems unreliable between what is on Google and if it is open. 24/08/31.....upon reading the reply from the owner I would love to try this restaurant at some point, and youre right I didnt eat the food or get to experience it fully unfortunately. I do appreciate the value in supporting local business and farmers. Its not my intention to hurt your business so I changed my rating to 4 stars instead of the previous 3. I dont want to delete the review as I think its important for customers to know what level of service to possibly expect so that they maybe dont waste time driving in without a prior reservation like I did. In addition to bring attention to it so that hopefully it doesnt happen in the future. This isnt a judgement but the facts of my experience after trying twice to eat here and driving in from out of town. I do think that service is an important part of a restaurant experience and communication is a key part of that. I would hope in the future as you appear to be verified on google as the owner, to update the hours or at the very least, to update on your social media platforms as I see you do have Instagram and Facebook. Most people will check those platforms especially in a smaller town as yes sometimes google is not updated.
We stopped here on our journey around NS and it was the best meal weve had all week. The cocktails are original and delicious, the fresh pasta and seafood are indeed fresh. If I lived here, Id be a regular. Dont miss it.

My wife and I have been meaning to visit for a while and we were not disappointed! Everything was lovely and incredibly delicious. Our server was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was fresh and delicious. Most everything was locally sourced, much coming from the restaurants own garden or the nearby farmers market. Standouts include fresh oysters and scallops, fresh baked focaccia, locally foraged mushrooms and perhaps the best chicken Ive ever tasted. The cocktails were inventive and delicious. Dont be misled by the small and plain storefront, the restaurant inside is the real deal. Creative dishes, executed perfectly, but in a warm and unpretentious manner. Already looking forward to going back and visiting again.

I was lucky enough to go to Little Gul for a work dinner and had an amazing time. The service was excellent, the food was somehow even better. I plan on returning to this restaurant every time I m in the area.

Very good food, i try the tenderloin, was awesome, the server was perfect with us.
Had a beautiful dinner. I had the baked oysters appy, with pork cutlet main for dinner.. was all super drlicious, tasty. My friend had shellfish, mussles, and scallops all served beautifully and tasted amazingly we ate it all. Dessert was shared annapolis valley icecream mmm ill be recommending to my friends, and be back.
It was nice to be back at the the former Bistro now called Little Gull Bistro and to met Tom and Willow,the new owners.Service to our table of 7 was outstanding plus the quality of the items selected from the menu were 1st class. Certainly will be going back!

Wonderfull little restaurant. With an east coast up scale fishing town ambience. The fresh house made pasta and focaccia are a must. Rotating menu with local fare and flavours. Kind staff.
If you havent been yet, do yourself a favor and visit Little Gull. The food, beverages, and service are unmatched. Tom & Chef Willow truly care about your experience. We were a 7 top, and everything was flawless. The seasonal menus are carefully and thoughtfully planned with fresh housemade pastas & focaccia, locally sourced beef, oysters, mushrooms, and vegetables. And be sure not to miss out on their deserts. Absolutely the best meal we had, as we are still talking about the evening and look forward to the next visit when Im home. Highly recommend!
I LOVED(!!!!!!) this place. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was top 3 out of all the restaurants I ve ever eaten at, and the food was the best meal Ive had in a restaurant, in a very long time. I can t recommend this place enough!!!!!

The real tragedy is that it took us this long to visit Little Gull. Our party got to sample everything from local mussels and baked oysters with house made butter, house made pasta dishes, and a pork belly special that I m sure we will all wake up tomorrow thinking about. If you haven t already stopped in to let Tom and Willow give you an authentic, delicious meal you simply need to. If we lived closer this would be our regular spot, but we plan on returning soon. South Shore doesn t seem that far away now! Little Gull is the hero Pictou County needed, but didn t deserve. Now it s Pictou County s time to support a restaurant that is worth investing in. Thanks for an amazing experience!
My husband and I had a beautiful date night at new glasgows newest restaurant Little Gull. Everything was perfect from the service, the ambiance and the food of course. If you re in the area it s a must try! Can t wait to go back. 10/10 would recommend.

Enjoyed a beautiful meal (delectable chicken fricassee) this weekend. I m not usually one to enjoy focaccia but Willow has outdone herself the best I ve had! This is a cozy inviting Bistro and wine bar with a specialized menu. Cant even describe the food it was more than fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning. Dietary restrictions: There were a couple gluten-free options available on menu
Enjoyed the scalloped risotto which was the special of the day. This is a top 3 meal I ve had in my life It s sad to think I live so far away from Little Gus Bistro. I m obsessed. Wish I can give this place 6 out of 5 stars. If you re reading this, trust me. Treat yourself and eat here.
We ate here last night. Everything was perfect. Without a doubt this was the best meal we had in Canada. If youre near, go. I promise you will love it.
Food was fantastic. Serving staff were super friendly, and wasted no time brewing a fresh pot of coffee. Highly recommend saving a slice of your Focaccia for your soup, if you re a dipper like I am, it was such a tasty combo. As a vegetarian I had no issues ordering, and leaving with a belly full of goodness. Looking forward to eating here again.

The little Gull was a great experience for my wife and I. It was a wonderful meal of fresh local food prepared with wonderful skills and techniques. A wonderful addition to Pictou County.

My husband and I and 4 of our sons went for a celebration dinner last night. Two of us had the salmon with risotto, one of us had the tenderloin, and the others had the pasta. The food was delicious and our server, Cathy was lovely. The menu and service lean towards fine dining, however the atmosphere is lunchtime diner. It s not likely someplace my husband and I would go back to for an intimate date night. If you just want a good meal, we highly recommend Little Gull, if you want an atmosphere that matches the menu and gives you more than an everyday, casual dining experience you may want to look elsewhere.
Love this little understated gem. Went for a road trip date night- worth the drive from Halifax. Cute small town vibe inside, with really spectacular complex food vibe. AMAZING mushroom toast focaccia to die for. Salmon beautifully cooked. And make sure you don t miss out on the chocolate mousse with honeycomb crumble!
