Casual fine dining. The Mill in New Glasgow is a restaurant, community hub and take-out marché that celebrates local food as a connector of people to place, history, family and civic life. Chef Emily Wells and her team are known for serving high quality comfort food prepared with locally-sourced ingredients and international flair.
Coming from Niagara Falls, this was our first stop in PEI. My wife and I spent a few days fly fishing in New Brunswick, and upon passing the bridge with a beautiful rainbow and eating our first meal at The Mill - we very quickly realized we should have just skipped New Brunswick entirely and we should just move to PEI in general. What a perfect way to begin our trip in this province and it wouldn't have hit the same without our stop here. Talk about a redeeming meal for our trip. Go for the chowder and crab cakes. Perfect combo. 10/10 service and food.
What a lovely restaurant! We visited here a couple weeks ago from Ontario. I was ready to order the lobster and leek quiche but crab cakes were the days special so I opted for them. They were delicious. I made sure to return a couple days later for the quiche. Did not disappoint. The staff, atmosphere and views are wonderful. When we return to PEI I will be stopping here!
The mill has exceptional food The view is lovely and the staff are great We have been many times and it’s always a great experience 6 of us dined, 2 had the steak, 1 chicken, 1 Moroccan stew and 1 ribs and Mac and 1 salad. Everyone really enjoyed what they had! If you like Pad Thai, it’s sooo good
The food was far above average. We are visiting from Montreal, we had the fish of the day, a burger and the kids macaroni. Everything tasted much better than expected, you can tell it was designed by a talented chef. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Don’t let the modest exterior fool you!
Highly recommend! The food was amazing. Chef Emily and her team did a fantastic job!
My partner and I had a wonderful night out away from the kids. Beautiful location, friendly service and delicious food. We had ourselves a nice bottle of red and split a delicious seafood chowder. I had an amazing steak and she the fish of the day. Both were large portions and cooked to perfection. We then split a chocolate cake, which was to die for!
Best meal we had during our stay on the Island. My partner and I are both chefs and greatly appreciated the little details. The food was hot, well presented and delicious. Service was courteous and prompt. Nice view and our reservation (strongly recommended making some) made it a stress free and enjoyable evening. Strongly recommend
Really nice place, food was very good and the portions were huge! We ordered more than we can eat! I had the seafood chowder and the fish special and bread pudding for dessert. The staff was also really sweet to our kids even though our baby was pretty cranky. The high chair didn't really work out for our 7 month old and there was no buckle so might be worth bringing something if you have your own baby seat.
Love the soup and sandwich combo. Staff is friendly and efficient. Great gf and df options.
The Mediterranean seafood chowder was delicious! Would visit again.
Great location. Excellent food. Large portions. So glad that we finally made it! Food : 5/5 |
Best meal I had in a long time. I chose the market fish and it was salmon with a rhubarb chutney. The sides were spectacular. Kimberly was attentive and friendly even though they were quite busy.
If youre looking for fine dining, with a view, youre going to the right place. Great food, great service. Food
What a great lunch we had everything so fresh and appitizing. The service was excellent a young girl waited on us, we did not feel rushed or uncomfortable at any time. Gem of a spot. Discovered what a small world we live in..the owner has friends who live near our very small town in NY.
6 people for dinner. Every meal exceptional!!! Servers so pleasant and informative
Absolutely furious about the way my guests from Ontario and I were treated by the staff last evening, I asked 3 weeks ago when I stopped by to make the reservation for a table for 3 by the window in the dining room, no sorry we can t do that those are for groups of 4, we did not get a table by the window but while we were waiting for our order two other couples of two were given a table for 4 by the window. While we we re waiting we asked if the air conditioning which was blasting cold air on us and our table could be turned down, that lasted about 10 minutes then turned on again so we sat shivering at our table, the table beside us were so cold they went out to their cars to get jackets and sweaters. When the food arrived I asked if the AC could be turned down again while we ate, this request was met with a sour face from our server. Then half way through the meal I was asked to move my car because I was blocking the side lane way which It was not, I made sure of that when I parked, the two cars that arrived after me were blocking it. Ever heard of no parking signs??? Then we were asked if we wanted dessert, I said no we would pick something up on the way home so we could leave. Food was great, service and staff a 1 out of 10. Wake up staff and Chef no excuse for this type of attitude. I was telling my guests how great the Mill was!!!. I will never go back to the Mill or ever recommended it to anyone again. Reply The Mill in New Glasgow is at The Mill in New Gla
Chef Emilys food is some of the best food on the island. She cooks with fresh, local ingredients and the dishes are always outstanding. I dream about her pad thai! Everything on the menu is delicious, and makes me keep coming back. Other favourites of mine include the crab cakes, the ribs, mac n cheese. Her staff are so kind and welcoming, and the service is excellent. Plus, you get to enjoy beautiful views of the river clyde while you eat.
An absolute hidden gem in PEI~ delicious food with gorgeous scenery and most exceptional service!
Ive been to the mill many times and have never once been disappointed. The food is excellent, the service is great, and the staff are extremely kind and pleasant. Not to mention the great view of the River Clyde that you see from the restaurant. I highly reccomend it if you are in the area.
The Mill is my favourite restaurant in PEI! I spent two and a half hours there over lunch on Saturday and had a main, drinks and dessert. The menu is excellent and VERY fairly priced considering the quality of the food. The interior is historic, beautiful, very cozy and has a great view of the River Clyde. I also like the to-go options and the great work they do in the community of New Glasgow. I highly recommend the Mediterranean Seafood Chowder if youre looking for PEI mussels!
The Mill is such a wholesome place. It has wonderful food and views, and a family-run feeling. So easy to pop by when you are visiting New Glasgow! I came to find it through their involvement in the community arts non-profit the River Clyde Pageant. Their involvement in the community is felt strongly in a really beautiful way when you visit the restaurant.
The Mill is one of my favourite restaurants, ever. In anticipation of my latest visit to PEI, a friend and I asked each other almost daily for a month, What are you going to get when we go to the Mill? You dont need my recommendation, everything is divine. But what I love for lunch is the Mediterranean Seafood Chowder which is completely unparalleled when it comes to fish soups and stews (though I will always take a bite out of someones lobster quiche), a glass of white vine, followed by coffee and chocolate zucatto cake. For supper, I get the mussels, I get a cocktail, I get the fish, and finish with the maple mousse. I then leave PEI for another 12 months, belly full, dreaming of my next visit. This is only my New Glasgow food fever dream but I promise you cant go wrong with anything you choose. Chef Emily is immensely talented. The Mill is a celebration of good food, expertly-prepared, lovingly presented. The service is relaxed but attentive. The portions are generous. Last summer, My in-laws came to the Island for the first time and every day we thought wed try somewhere else...wed end up back at the Mill.
When I travel to PEI, I always make sure it includeds a visit to The Mill! I recently spent a luxurious lunch enjoying a glass of processo, their fabulous tomoatoey creamy mediterranean seafood chowder, a slice of chocolate mousse cake an a coffee. Wow wow wow! Their prices are very resonable for the high quality meal that you are served. I love tthe inviting atmosphere of the Mill, it is cozy and chic with a lovely view of the River Clyde. I will be dreaming about that chocolate cake until my next visit.
This is a great restaurant. Totally reliable. The Mediterranean fish soup is fantastic and the laksa curry is delicious. The staff are very friendly and attentive. There is a lovely view of the river. Vegetarian options: Laksa curry is vegan and delicious
Some of the finest food and coziest spaces youll find on the island. Vegetarian options: The chef offered prompt and tasteful alternatives to our vegetarian requests. Kid-friendliness: We had a large party with several families and the service adapted quickly to our needs. The open loft space was a great area to relax in and the kids felt right at home.
What a terrific find! Short 10 minute drive from the main Cavendish area. Top quality food, excellent service, and a great little vibe. Portions generous, and prices very reasonable! Bonus: great options for food restrictions/allergies. Clear gluten and dairy free options, and ready to customize to suit! Dietary restrictions: Several dairy and gluten free options listed on the menu (tasty too!!) Ready to accomodate other requests and customizations!
Absolutely great experience.
This place is a must to visit if you come to PEI. Kind staff, cozy atmosphere and the food OMG!! I am still thinking about it, and will be for a long time! All the locally sourced and fresh ingredients really come out beautifully in each dish. It was smiles of enjoyment all around for each member of our party of 5! They have gluten free and dairy free options available. They also have a cute take home bunker filled of delicious items at such reasonable prices. I will be coming back again in the future. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options Dairy free options Willingness to customize dishes to suit your needs!
Excellent food and service. A lovely view. Only minor complaint is that the menu is limited but its a small restaurant so theyre probably trying to keep their ingredients fresh. The prices are very reasonable given the quality. Has gluten free options.
Amazing restaurant for really good food and not too expensive. Huge portions too.
One of the best restaurants in PEI. Servers are fantastic. Food is too die for. I really recommend everything on the menu.
This is definitely one of the best restaurants in PEI. Theres a relatively small menu selection but well have to come back 10x to try everything, and this is something well do! The preparation and food quality are a 10 out of 10.
I forgot to take any pictures but the food here was amazing! I had the Carrot and Ginger Soup and the Ribs and Mac & Cheese as my main. The soup was delicious as was my main. The main came with a salad as well and the dressing was excellent (and I dont normally like salad dressing). I took most of my ribs and half my mac & cheese home. My husband had the Asian Mussels which he really enjoyed and found to be a really unique flavour combination. He also had the Pad Thai which was another very generous portion size, he felt it could have been a bit hotter but still enjoyed it. My dinner companion both had the salmon special which was also a hit. For appetizers one of the had the Classic Mussels which they loved as much as my husband loved his Asian version and the other had the Lamb and Feta Meatballs which she said were excellent. We will definitely be back and bring any foodie friends who visit the Island here. I will say we were originally seated upstairs which was pretty warm but luckily we were able to be moved downstairs when we asked - just something to keep in mind if you are booking. The service was excellent - everyone was very attentive in terms of refilling drinks and water, clearing plate and so forth and also very friendly. Great experience and I highly recommend. Parking: Parking was a private lot, we had no trouble getting a space.
A strange experience. Hot ginger carrot soup in mid July? A waitress who doesn t write anything down on paper? I guess we shouldn t be expected to remember a drink or entree order correctly! Would not recommend.
Quite the amazing atmosphere here! We sat in the back area with the windows overlooking the water and that was a great view. The ribs were fantastic and the crab cakes were definitely the best Ive had! This is from an Ontario boy but I would imagine these are top tier even for the East Coast.
Quite magical atmosphere and place overlooking the river. Dishes a little heavy but quite good.
Good variety of meals. Great sized portions for a big appetite. Sitting above the river where you can see Herons, kingfishers and other wildlife from a glassed in dining room. Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free options.
There was confusion about ordering. The food was just ok. Appetizers and entries were mixed up. The Chicken Pai Tai tasted strange to me. Could be me. The Salmon was very good with Large portions per two of the 4 people. The other two of us were disappointed.
The Mill is a favourite of ours and we have had many great experiences here. Sadly I am writing about our first negative experience. We had lunch here August 3 and had terrible service. There were two waitresses on and it was busy but just after the lunch rush so clearing out. We were seated at a small table for two (there were several other options) with inadequate room for a full meal experience with wine, appetizers etc. The food was underwhelming and bland (unusual as it is usually excellent). The mussels were full and nice but bland. The currie soup was ok. The lamb meat balls were good but on the dry side. My wife s onion dal was disappointing and the presentation was unattractive. We left disappointed and hoping this was just an off day.
We had a variety of dishes. The burger, ribs, shrimp and lobster salad, were really outstanding. Portions were very large and priced fairly. The Pad Thai was enormous and had a nice amount of fresh veggies in it. Pecan pie for dessert was also excellent. Food in general was very impressive. Kids menu options consisted of a Burger, Flatbread, or Mac and Cheese. All side salads were very fresh greens and very tasty. Server was a little hard to understand, not particularly warm, and took too long to bring the check. Would definitely return.
Rebeca was excellent in her service, food was very good!! Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheel chair access Food : 4/5 |
Great venue with excellent food and super staff....first time there but already planning to return Put it on your list of restaurants to try if you havent Food
We ate really well. In the environment overlooking the river. Well presented dishes with super generous portions. In addition to meat and fish, there are many variations with an oriental touch.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Mill. The crab cakes and chowder were amazing.
Best restaurant on PEI!
The entrées of lobster and shrimp salad as well as the crab cakes were amazing, full of flavor and very fresh seafood. The fish dish of the day was excellent as well. A very nice restaurant that well remember for our next trip!
Place was amazing the ribs and Mac and cheese were to die for The fish of the day salmon with the sauce was great Extremely friendly staff would go again
Quaint little restaurant with great food!!
Wonderful service, astonishing view, delicious food!
Delicious meal, great service and ordered a quiche to take out. It was soooo good!
Very nice quiet place to eat with a beautiful view. Feels cozy. I had the lamb & feta meatballs and salad on the side instead of rice since I follow a keto/low carb diet. The waitress was very kind to offer to switch the rice for salad. If I ever go back to PEI, Id definitely go back to this charming restaurant !
We attended an event held in the grounds which was a lot of fun,!
Love this place their food is very good.
Best chocolate zucchado cake ever! (which followed a delicious meal)
Absolutely incredible food and staff!
Excellent food and a great environment. Service matched the food.
I had the classic pei mussels, and the lamb and feta burger. They were fantastic. The hints of flavor that came to a blend in the burger were well balanced. They offer baked and other goods sold. It was an excellent experience and I would go back.
These folks managed to squeeze us in due to a last minute cancellation, even though we couldnt make it exactly on time. The service was excellent, I had the prime rib and my partner had the chicken, both meals were incredible and we were able to get dessert to go which was great. Highly recommend! Vegetarian options: They have multiple veggie options and their house salad is amazing.
Had the lamb meatballs and sweet potato curry soup. There are very few places that has the flavour I m looking for and this one has it. !!! Nice kick to the soup and the meatballs - fabulous!!
Michelin star food, excellent service, great views. I loved everything about this place. Highly recommend.
Excellent restaurant and charming and very friendly welcome. I recommend the seafood chowder and desserts! Worth the detour.
If you are able to obtain a seat at this fine dining restaurant take it and enjoy! From the view of the River to the excellent service, to the food itself, everything was top notch! The whole family enjoyed their meal and we raved about the entire experience all the way home.
Simply delicious. Excellent service too.
The food is extremely good here. I had a chowder with a base of tomato. It was very tasty and fresh. Their desserts home made carrot cake and the pecan caramel pie (with bourbon) are stunning. Service is good and if you are outside you get to see the birds pass by the river. They also seemed to have some delicious take outs but we didnt try them out
I haven t enjoyed a meal this good in a long time. Wonderful location with amazing and delicious food.
Friendly, attentive service. Food was tasty. Portions were humongous!
Huge portions, tasty food, warm service, all offered in a homey dining room overlooking the river. Lots of gluten free options, including biscuits to go with the chowder. $150 for two with appetizers, a drink each, a shared dessert plus tax and tip. Dietary restrictions: Dairy free and gluten free options
That was an incredible experience. The hosts, the food... Incredible. The pork ribs seasoning was out of this world. Easy one of the best meals I had in a long time. The desert was also fantastic. Kid-friendliness: While the kid menu is a bit limited (only three options), the meal itself was delicious.
Outstanding food and service. If you are visiting pei and dont dine here, you missed a gem. Vegetarian options: Always great options on the menu.
Stumbled upon this place when another spot in North Rustico was closed. Ended up being a perfect accident! Wonderful service, gorgeous setting right on the river. Started with freshly baked bread. We were a group of 5 and we all tried each other s dishes. We had the chicken pot pie with fresh greens salad. The salad was divine! So crispy and flavourful with the house honey-mustard dressing. The pie crust was flakey and perfect; warm hearty flavours. The seafood chowder was in a tomato pesto broth, unexpectedly delicious. Overflowing with amazing seafood, this dish was an absolute standout. Truly sensational! Service was warm, efficient, wonderful. Highly recommend this place!
The great chef choose fresh food and she/he try her /him best to do. I think it Top 1 in PEI.
Attended a special event at the Mill. Evening affair with finger food. The food was excellent as was the service. Very worth visiting another day in season.
Always great!
Delicious food, great environment and service.
A magnificent restaurant, a calm and pleasant atmosphere far from the crowds and noise. A beautiful view of the riverside and impeccable service. The food is excellent and plentiful, I will return without hesitation. The best restaurant on the island that I have tried. Thank you for this pleasant moment of good gastronomy
What a gem! Had a delightful lunch here with my mom and sister. The service was prompt and pleasant. The food was perfectly prepared. I had the crab cakes which were lightly crispy and delicate and flavourful. The chef is clearly talented, using quality ingredients and cares about each plate. The setting tops it all off. Tables perfectly spaced in an historic building (a mill of course) with a view of the river. There should be line ups to get in here but lucky for us on this lovely summer day there were not.
We were very impressed with our meals. The seafood chowder was amazing. Full of goodness and so delicious. My husband had the ribs and Mac and cheese and enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the stuffed chicken and it was to die for. Portions were generous and pricing fair considering how fresh and delicious the food is. Service was also very good. Definitely a must try.
Well run establishment!
The food was delicious, everyone at our table loved what they ordered, portions were good sized
My mom and I had the best meal here since visiting PEI!! The fish of the day was amazing with a nice variety of fresh ingredients that balanced really well. The service was super friendly we had a great time trying out new dishes!! Thank you so much to the staff for the incredible meal :)
Absolutely amazing time, so glad we made this reservation. We were there for about 3 hrs, and the food and service was incredible. Our water made us laugh, and ensured we had a smooth service. The drinks were delicious, and the rhubarb spritz was excellent and would recommend! For food our favourite was the crab cakes, mezza platter, chocolate desert, and the pecan pie. My daughter (aged 10) ate the chocolate desert so quick, she absolutely loved it. You could taste the difference in between the two layers, and the mousse was decadent. Our only suggestion would be to add an extra crab cake as usually they are served in portions of 3 but beyond that, this was worth the experience everything was fresh, the fish was light and beef cooked tender. Will come again, thank you for an excellent night!
Just had dessert. Good food, friendly servers. Fairly prompt
Interesting twist on the local cuisine with an asian touch well appreciated after a few days of the more conventional stuff. Ribs were great. Worth it :)
Great service by avocado girl
The food and service were both amazing!
The Mill is a culinary delight. I had the crab cakes paired with a pinot gregio to start followed by Atlantic salmon that was perfectly cooked, topped with a lovely rhubarb chutney. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and roasted. The salad with a deliciously balanced house dressing covered half the plate as I believe it should. My wife had a fantastic carrot and apple soup which had a nice turmeric aroma which paired well with the house sangria. This was followed by an excellent chicken pad thai which was enormous. It was so big it provided me a full portion the following day.
Great view with great food. Highly Recommended. Hosted our wedding and staff were endlessly helpful with everything.
This place was a fantastic little find! I had the seafood chowder and wasn t expecting the tomato base bowl of chowder that I got, but it was a wonderful twist on a seafood chowder. Seafood is often over cooked especially in chowder as restaurants keep it heated all day long so it s quick to send out to the table. This is why mussels and clams are often as tough as rubber and taste of nothing at all but not here! The shrimp, mussels and scallops were all as tender as can be and paired with a Pinot Grigio and the crisp baguette with butter it was as good as it gets. The service was quick, the prices were reasonable (especially for the area where everything is hugely marked up) and the atmosphere was great with original wide plank wood flooring, high ceiling, lots of large windows and a clean and tidy feel. Lastly, the server surprised as at the end with a bundle of freshly made cookies for my 7 year old son who appreciate the sweet treat for the road. I couldn t recommend this place more highly, definitely worth stopping by.
We found The Mill by necessity as everything that we tried was closed for lunch, but I would consider it a hidden gem that was found!! The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting. Lunch for us was the Quiche & Salad and the Mediterranean Seafood Chowder. Compliments to the Chef for preparing meals in that each bite was full of flavour and left the palate anticipating the next bite. Worth the stop and making the reservation.
Great food. Interesting but great twist on several dishes. However service was lacking, I m not sure if it was the staffs first few days open or not. Very disorganized, inconsistent and strange explanations for lacking service. (For ex did not receive water until after alcohol when the 2 tables next to us got water upon arrival - they said the water had to come from upstairs so it took longer??). Overall not a bad experience - just strange.
Amazing food and beyond friendly service in a beautiful spot. Do not miss this gem!!
Beautiful views looking over the River Clyde as the sun set. Excellent meals. The halibut and beef specials were very tasty and lots to eat. The Pad Thai with chicken is enormous... brought enough home for lunch the next day. Have the port and chocolate for dessert. Its marvelous!
Ribs/Mac and cheese, halibut feature, and crab cakes were all excellent. Good wine selection and excellent service and atmosphere.
Great food, excellent service, wonderful views. Never disappoints.
Excellent dinner. Great food. Alex had the halibut with rhubarb topping and I had a tenderloin on a bun. Side salads were excellent. Fresh crisp boston lettuce mix with a delicate dressing. Will be back for more before they close for the season.
Excellent vegetarian options (and meat options too) with a beautiful view of the river!
Food and atmosphere were perfect.
Delecious meal and generous portions.
Excellent Food, good service and nice views. All around a very pleasant experience.
Consistently great food and service. What else can you say? Lobster pad Thai is 2 meals. Ribs are outrageously delicious. Roasted chicken? Yeah, it s awesome too. Finish with the Zuccotto cake and you re about as close to culinary heaven as is legally permitted. Don t forget to check out the Marché where you can pick up the most amazing chicken pot pie around or delicious salads and way more. Just go already!
Farmers helping Farmers organization held their fund raising supper at the Old Mill. My table was ground floor with an amazing view of the river and PEI Preserve Company on the opposite shore. Our chef prepared a most tasty pork loin with seasonal vegs. My friend must have no dairy and was accommodated accordinly. Soup, salad desserts all excellant. We have dined here a few times and each time pleased. Prices reflect the quality of the product. I have always been pleased. Recommended. Covid protocols in place.
The salmon was perfect, all food was exquisite. And the view is awesome. The service was excellent
Hands down the best food that I ve ever eaten. So much flavour, we had to come back two years in a row. A must try for anybody in PEI!
Great Lobster Sandwich for lunch . Chicken
Amys lobster Pad Thai is excellent! Never a bad meal!
The dinner was very good worth every penny thoroughly enjoyed myself so did my party of 6 ..
Enjoyed the ambience, food and view. Steak was tender and delightful, and the Mill provides a non-seafood dining opportunity in PEI. Some of their fusion may tend to be a bit overpowering if you are not familiar with them.
Nice enough place. Food was quite good. However we had a not-so-good experience. We each ordered a salad. These were very large. We could have shared one. But we like salad so no big deal. The dinners (steak/fish) were listed with sides of local mixed greens and potatoes. Typically dinners have cooked vegetables on the side. I (wrongly) assumed the mixed greens were cooked green vegetables. It turns out they were side salads - more of what we had already eaten! I asked the waitress why she didnt point this out when we made the order. She said Oh usually I do, but people end up getting the salad anyway. I found that difficult to believe. I cannot see how anyone would order and eat that much salad. We thought her response was flippant. We complained a second time saying These salads costed us $20. We would have ordered soups instead. In response, she offered us free dessert which were good desserts (plus a little dark chocolate). So this ups the ratings from 1 star. However we should not have had to complain twice and likely, we would have ordered only one dessert and a different appetizer. So to us, the matter was partially resolved. Also I suggest they change their menu to be clear that local mixed greens is a salad.
We just ate the most delicious meal! My husband made a lot of embarrassingly loud Mmmmmm sounds. Every bite was sensational! Nothing to say now but Ahhhhhh...... with a smile on my face. So satisfied.
Exceeded expectations! Food that nourishes body and soul! Great service.
The food was DELICIOUS! The service was beyond excellent! The ambiance is wonderful! Overall....I give this wonderful dining experience two thumbs up!!! I will without a doubt suggest this place to others!!
Excellent! Interesting and varied menu. Great presentation. Meals were served in good time. Food was delicious. Service was attentive and very friendly. Highly recommended!
Wonderful decor and staff - the upstairs loft area is full of character. The mediterranean chowder, lamb feta meatballs, pork ribs and vegan chocolate mousse were scrumptious.
You wont be disappointed.
Peaceful and serene, beautiful view, outstanding food.
I cant rave enough about how amazing the food and service was! We ordered ribs, mac & cheese with local cheeses, and mixed greens salad in a signature dressing made at the restaurant. The ribs were fall off the bone, tender and perfectly seasoned. The balance between the 2 cheeses in a slightly spicy mac & cheese was ideal. It didnt get boring, bite after bite was delicious. Its difficult to get me excited about salad... this was so fresh and had a nice bite and sweetness combined together that I couldnt stop saying how much I enjoyed my salad. We ate in a sunroom overlooking the water, the view from The Mill is peaceful and stunning. Family owned and operated, we got to meet a few of the family as the were our servers! Warm and friendly atmosphere with top notch service. Cant wait to come back.
Fantastic food and ambience
Excellent food the way food should be. A must stop on the island for those who like to eat well.
Wonderful dinner, great service. Small menu but wonderful choices.
A real hidden gem on PEI. Excellent food, friendly staff and all with a fantastic view.
Unbelievable tasty Mediterranean - Atlantic seafood soup !
Local high quality ingredients inventively served. Beautiful food, beautiful view.
Food is fantastic, service could be improved upon
This place was unreal. The food was so good and owner was so nice to us. The chef even came out and met us. It was a great stop for supper and I would recommend 100%.
Great food and views of the river clyde
Absolutely perfect place, people and meals.
Was highly recommended to us but unfortunately we waited over an hour for our entrees after ordering with nobody checking in on us, when I asked we were told a large group upstairs had put orders in and held ours up, but then our meals arrived within 5 min so it seems more likely we were forgotten about until I reminded them. The halibut was delicious but the green curry was scalding hot and didnt taste like much. Possibly an isolated experience but its what happened to us.
People were raving about this restaurant. Maybe we came on an off day but just didnt have a great experience. They forgot about my meal, the waitress checked on everyone around us, scanned our table and saw nothing was moving along but never checked in despite the delay or to say what was going on. She talked to everyone around us. Not in a rush or fussy but being aknowledged would be nice. People sat long after us were getting their meals. We asked another waitress what the status was for our meal. When it came it wasnt very good (rubbery chicken and bland) and when our waitress finally did check in on first bites she asked how the meals were. My partner said good to his meal, I said mine was ok but she didnt listen and continued on. Went to a tonne of other places in the area and had a better experience and incredible service. *Shrug* The view is nice though.
Lucky find to discover this wonderful restaurant in New Glasgow! Everything was from fresh, local ingredients and delicious! We had the mussels and crab cakes, which were fresh and cooked to perfection. We also had the halibut with mango salsa special which was also outstanding. The server, Christian, was attentive and the owner/chef, Emily, personally visited our table at least twice. Cant say enough about this restaurant. If you are in PEI, this is a restaurant you.must try.
Accidentally found this place and it was a great find. As soon as we went upstairs I looked at my wife and said This is going to be awesome The food was top notch with a thoughtful presentation. Service was also great. The owner/chef ( Emily ) made us most welcome. To my friends in New England this is a must. Will be back for more next summer.
This was a solid dining experience. Good service and lovely surroundings. It seems strange to say - but I will say that perhaps the portions are too large. I had the pad thai and it was so enormous it almost defeated my will to eat anything else upon viewing it arrive. My son had the ribs and mac and cheese and it was the same. I would have been very happy with 1/2 the amount and the ability to finish it. Also - the lobster added to Pad thai isnt a good way to have lobster. Just too much going on flavourwise to enjoy that expensive addition. My wife loved her steak and salad. Deserts were excellent - especially the cranberry rhubard crisp.
Food was fine. Service was great.
Fabulous food..expensive but generous portions. I had the lobster pad thai and had at least 6 claws or more and at least 3 or 4 tails. I was disappointed that there was no sauce on the noodles, generous carrots, peppers, peanuts and cubed fried tofu and grated fresh ginger but noodles were dry. Dessert was shared by 3 and still brought most of it home along with the pad thai. Lunch or dinner tomorrow! 3 people with dinner, 3 desserts, 1 bottle of beer $180. Taxes and tip in. Hope it helps. If you have a special occasion, consider The Mill, well worth it. Wait staff helpful, anticipatory, and attentive. Your inner foodie is calling.....
The food was sensational and the service was excellent! I had the tenderloin, and the cranberry rhubarb crumble for dessert. If youre ever in the area, do yourself a favor and go here!!!
Great atmosphere food is ok
Very good food!
Food was excellent, service was quick and friendly.
Great food, good service and fantastic location
Excellent food quaint atmosphere, chef Emily is the best! Great asset to have in the community always opening themselves for community events!
Delicious food however the last time we went there we had an 8:30 reservation. We didnt get our food until after 9:30. The wait was way too long.
Great food and drinks nice place
Loved the Thai inspired food, delicious soup, great curry, and the bread pudding was super yummy
Great food, great atmosphere! Grab some chocolate chip cookies on the way out!!
This is one of the best if not THE best restaurants on the island. The food was truly special with beautiful flavours and the freshest of ingredients. 4 of us had the fresh from North Rustico Halibut served with a beautiful light cream sauce with a hint of fennel served with garden fresh greens and a really nice vinegarette with a hint of sweetness and a gorgeous rice with beans. Others in our party had the Pad Thai Chicken and the Ribs with Mac and Cheese and both loved it especially the Mac and Cheese. Dessert was better still - and thankfully large portion - a frozen maple mousse. Has me dreaming of going back for more. Chef Emily and her partner are so nice and welcoming. Dining next to the wall of windows looking out on the river is reason to go in itself but food is just perfection on a plate. Afterwards our party of 6 went upstairs to the more casual loft area that had live music playing soft enough we could enjoy it but still chat over it. You can choose to dine from same menu upstairs if you want a more casual atmosphere. The Mill made for a memorable evening and I highly recommend it and look forward to going again.
Excellent food - great service - beautiful scenery - what more cld u ask for?
Great food & nice staff food waiting on. The live music just finished the night off.
Fantastic food. Great prices and perfect portions. Live music added to the experience. The Crab Cakes were delicious. And the roasted chicken was amazing.
We had a group of 12 eat at the restaurant on. recommendation by the owner of Blue Mussel Cafe. Our waitress, Lisa was friendly and very attentive to our group. Every dish we ordered was excellent. We even requested some substitutes that the kitchen gladly accommodated. Crab Cakes were awesome. Thai Green Curry Lobster Was very flavourful and a much needed flavour boost to ordinary lobster. Mediterranean seafood chowder was done in a tomato broth a nice alternative to cream.
Delicious food with just the right amount of creativity on classics. Generous servings for this kind of dining experience. A Queens County favourite!
One of the best and most consistent restaurants in PEI.
Great food and service.
Very good food and decent pricing small parking lot
Exceptional food with excellent service. What more can I say, Its a must-stop-and-eat-here if you are in the area. Thanks Chef Emily
Amazing good as always
Excellent taste, compared to tens of restaurants around the world... Very friendly staff, stunning nature... Definitely to visit
My wife and I had an 8:30 reservation and sat at our table for nearly 20 minutes before any greeting or contact after the initial seating and specials by the host. When we finally were acknowledged the first thing out of our servers mouth was Are you ready to order?, We werent impressed. She neither introduced herself, asked or offered drinks of any kind, and generally seemed annoyed/abrupt. Surprisingly however the food was amazing! Seafood and other great dishes with a Thai inspired flavour. Despite the initial failings, and generally slow service with long periods spent waiting between courses, or for plates to be cleared, etc, we were pleased with our overall experience. Service can be improved upon or can change from table to table or server to server, this food speaks for itself. Service improved marginally by the end of the night, and we highly recommend the blueberry bread pudding desert with a to-die-for rum butter sauce.
Georgeous view. Professional friendly service. Delicious 3 course meal and bake shop. Had great veg options. Thanks for a great time.
We had dinner at the Mill last night. Service was very friendly and are server was Denise. Great lady, knows how to take care of her customers. Chef is Jeff and he knows how to make your month water. Food was excellent. If you are in PEI get over to this restaurant. They close at the end of this month for the season. Cheers Jim & Dianne
