The best restaurant in New Glasgow and Pictou County in a beautiful setting with amazing food and staff

Our family has lived next to Tillys since their opening. My father and I always joke with each other about what big jerks they are for making food that smells so good. A short while ago I finally has an opportunity to eat there, and it was just as I had imagined. The food was some of the best I think Ive ever eaten. The service was impeccable. I cant wait to eat there again.

Delicious Salmon and very yummy creme Brulee.

The entire experience was phenomenal. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Food was amazing, we both ordered the steak and we both said it was the best steak we ever had. We Will definitely be back again when we are in the area. We are from Ontario. If we lived in New Glasgow we would be regulars at Tilly s Kitchen. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheelchair ramp to get inside the building.

My wife and I got married there, having rented the space and asked Brad and Laurel to cater and host. They helped make the experience a memory that we will never forget. We have consistently had a great experience here when we come. The couple that own and operate the restaurant have a passion for service and making quality food and drink for their guests they consider extended family. The restaurant has been a staple location that we patron on a fairly regular basis. Whether you are looking for a place to have a date night, celebrate success, or just get together and enjoy a good meal, you are very likely to find yourself in good hands with Tilly s. Their standards are high, and their prices are reasonable in comparison to their standards. It is not pretentious or stuffy. It s like coming home. The only dress code you have to worry about is a smile. You will quickly find that you found a place you are always welcome and appreciated. Parking: The parking lot fills up quick Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome. High chair is available upon request.

Incredible dining experience and incredible food. Our expectations were high and they certainly didnt disappoint. We will definitely be back.

Never going ever again

We enjoyed a delicious dinner and received excellent service. The only complaint was the noise level which made it difficult to hear our conversation. Fortunately, it quieted down as other tables received their dinners and those at the more boisterous tables departed. Dietary restrictions: Tillys has many gluten free options and the chef accommodated our table by making the special of the day dairy free.

Delightful restaurant. The seafood was plentiful and delicious. Great selection of wines and cocktails. The servers were kind and helpful.

We had an amazing dinner here during our east coast vacation. Just off the highway, easy parking. We sat on their pretty patio with our dog Coleslaw and we were fortunate enough to have one of the owners taking care of our table. Laurel was really helpful because there is so many delicious options on the menu. Many gluten free options. We had crab cakes and poached pear salad first. Dinner was salmon and risotto for me. John had unique paella That Chef Brad created. I enjoyed a warm brownie with caramel and fresh fruit. This is a Do Not Miss kinda place. Thank you for your hospitality! John and Brenda

Amazing meal, amazing service, absolutely wonderful meal experience

We had mussels as an appetizer with steak/shrimp special and chicken and Brie We had crème brulee. Everything was fabulous. Highly recommend !!!!! We will definitely go again ! Food

We had a lovely evening at Tillys. It has a very laid-back, cozy atmosphere. The steak was delicious and the oysters were very fresh. They made me a delicious mocktail and the service was incredible!

A tip from our landlady. A really great restaurant with very good cuisine. A very interesting menu with many options for fish and meat lovers. Vegetarians will also find their choice. Nice restaurant with good service and nice ambience.

We just enjoyed an excellent dinner at Tillys Kitchen. Everything was delicious and well presented. We had the paella and salmon. We got to meet the chef and have a nice chat. He was attentive to our daughter and so kindly gave her ice cream. We plan to go back during our stay. We highly recommend! Kid-friendliness: Very kind to our daughter and gave free ice cream, which was above and beyond.

If we would have known the crème brû.lée was going to be that amazing, we would have ordered it first, and a second after our meal. Take it from a self-proclaimed brû.lée connoisseur, it is perfectly balanced and my favorite to date! Chef Brad and his team executed every dish we ordered to perfection. I will be dreaming about this dining experience until we are able to return. The four of us started with oysters, mussels, and the squid. All were incredible, and worthy of sopping up every bit of sauce with the fresh bread knots. For mains, we had steak, lobster, crab cakes, arancini balls, and pear and goat cheese salad. Seriously the best food, nothing went untouched and almost impossible to pick our favorite. We will be back, although a far journey from Kelowna, BC, it will be a place worth the trip every single time!

The tables were very close together so my husband couldnt hear me & kept saying huh?? over and over again and it felt like I was yelling at him. I didnt get the romantic & intimate dinner i was hoping for. Other than that, it was a really nice.

Great service great food!

One of my best meals so far in Atlantic Canada. They have a lovely menu, not too extensive. I believe their menu is a selection of their tried, tested and perfected dishes . Really delicious food, lovely atmosphere. We got served by this lovely server Sarah. She was so kind, explained everything on the menu, offered adjustments. Thank you to team Tillys.

Great experience

Went there while on a road trip in Nova Scotia and discovered a fantastic restaurant . Service was way above our expectation, full of attentions (even had a signed card from the staff for our anniversary). When the food arrived, visually impressive, generous portion and both dishes we took were realized to perfection ( salmon and paella). I highly recommend Tillys Kitchen for foodies.

We were attending as a small wedding party lastnight. It was the most welcoming environment Ive ever been in. The staff were super accommodating to my 1 year old... they wanted to help settle him and make him happy, one lady even took him for a walk. The kids enjoyed their experience there, and it was just overall a lovely experience! 10/10 service and will recommend this place to anyone I know! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, and comfort knowing I could go there with a small child and have so many helping hands! You guys are amazing Parking: Only thing I wish there was, is a light where the parking lot is so people can see better at night when leaving.

We were there last night for a family function. Everything was fantastic.. we have a 9, 5 and 1 year old... the staff were amazing.. the food was incredible, and the setting was gorgeous, highly recommend!!

Have had many amazing nights at Tillys. The food is excellent. Local market fresh produce and seafood. Features are always a treat have had many great cuts of meat and fresh sea food catches. Tillys Farmhouse Burger is the best burger in the county. An amazing mix of flavours. Cooked to perfection. Seafood Paella my go to. A generous portion of scallops, shrimp, haddock, chorizo sausage, salmon, mussels, grilled squid. Staff is always wonderful, professional, kind and attentive and make every night feel special. Cocktail Wine and Beer Menus are a little disappointing. With no higher end Wine or Champagne on the Menu and unfortunately no IPAs, (the staff have accidentally served APA as an IPA multiple times).

Had a great meal with my Dad and overall excellent experience at Tilly s. The restaurant itself is in an old Victorian home and is tastefully decorated. Our server Angela was very nice and sweet. Can t wait to come back on my next visit to New Glasgow.

Tilly s is absolutely amazing! The food is delicious, try the dumplings, you won t be disappointed. The atmosphere is so beautiful, calm & inviting. But the icing on the cake is the staff, they go over and above. Our party included 2 persons in wheelchairs, and the staff made us so comfortable, gave us a table with lots of room, and aided us in & out. Wheelchair accessibility: Handicapped parking available, ramp width is great for a big wheelchair, with non slip tiles on it.

I don t normally write reviews (I believe this is the first or one of the first I ve ever written) but this amazing restaurant deserves it. My wife and I had the daily special appetizer (fish cakes) and the pork dumplings to start and then she ordered the seafood linguine as her entrée whereas I ordered the chorizo chicken penne. We finished off with the crème brûlée. In a word, incredible. The service was impeccable - prompt, attentive and friendly. Angela in particular was excellent. The food itself was exceptional - top notch in all regards. I ve lived in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal and I ve eaten at some insanely good restaurants - this restaurant sits comfortably in the upper echelon. Everything cooked to perfection, the flavours perfectly selected and I even partook in dessert which I often never do and found myself very delighted that I decided to do so. Amongst the restaurants in New Glasgow, Tilly s towers over them all as an undisputed gastronomical giant in a class unto itself. The prices are slightly more than you ll pay elsewhere in New Glasgow ($40-$50 per person without alcohol) but it is worth every penny. I will be back, no question in my mind.

No take out options for those who are immunocompromised or elderly. I am flying in from Edmonton to visit and wanted to support this local business and order take out for my family for Easter. Wanted to try after seeing great reviews but the inside is very small no room for social distancing (ate there years ago when was Hebels) so thought take out would be an excellent option... was told no when I called to inquire.

Amazing!

I ve been here only three times and every time I am amazed at the service, the quality of the food, and the over all experience. As soon as we walk through the doors we have someone greet us with a smile on their face. The waitresses have a genuine conversation with us which I love and they don t over do it either. It s just enough that It makes us feel like we re valued customers. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. It s a very unique spot to go. The food is pure art!! Each meal could be on some sort of cooking show. I can t help, but feel the need to take pictures of everything we order because it s just so beautiful and it tastes just as amazing as it looks. I highly highly highly recommend going here. I swear you will not regret it!!! This is my favourite restaurant I d say in Canada. They should be very proud of this place!

Beautiful spot, make sure you book a table because the food is amazing and this old townhouse fills up quick. There have been some unfair reviews from some people on here and I just want to say we were treated like royalty personally. I certainly will be going back.

A most excellent anniversary dinner Tillys Kitchen New Glasgow: Starters of Salt Cod Fish Cakes ( Best we have ever had) , Roasted tomato mussels followed by Surf n Turf and finished with a lavender seed tart. Just an outstanding dinner, must eat here again.

The waitresses are very attentive and making sure everything is perfect! They are very personable and make you feel at home. The vibe is cozy and comfortable. The food was all amazing and came out quickly and hot. All seafood was DEFINITELY fresh I visited for a special occasion and the staff had a card with each member having written a small note - how cute?!

One of the best meals Ive had in recent memory, stellar from start to finish! So happy a place of this caliber is in our province, as it highlights the beautiful fish we have to offer. The seafood paella was incredible, so generous in portion and flavour. Squid was another winner. Our service from Sarah was attentive and caring. Cant wait to bring family and friends back!

Our first visit to Tilleys Kitchen was a great experience. Angela and all the staff made us feel welcome. Drinks were great, the crispy pork dumplings were a yummy appetizer and the seafood paella was outstanding! Seafood pasta was also quite good. Lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff.

We had an absolutely amazing dinner here tonight that beats any chain restaurant seafood restaurant around and the service was superior!! Amazing food at a decent price!!! Will be back next time we are through New Glascow!!

My wife and I went to Tillys Kitchen to celebrate our anniversary and had an outstanding experience. The atmosphere was lovely. Located in a quaint old house. The service was high touch but friendly and felt effortless. When we got to our table we found a card signed by the staff wishing us a happy anniversary. Our server was delightful. Offering suggestions, happily answering any questions, gracefully changing cutlery and such. The food and drinks were outstanding. Great martinis. A well curated wine list. We had oysters and surf n turf. The steak and seafood were seasoned and cooked perfectly. A delightful and memorable evening.

My husband and I had the most wonderful wedding anniversary dinner at Tillys Kitchen last night. The attention to details from the service,atmosphere,presentation and flavor of the dishes were outstanding. I can t rate it high enough. We went to Escoba when they were in Calgary and we loved it then, but Tilly s has not disappointed Brad has surpassed our expectations again. Where can you go and cut a steak with a fork other than Tilly s. We had prawn & crab cakes, pork dumplings and then surf & turf Chef s Special. Rating should 10/5

Great meal here. The menu has good seafood choices as well as steaks and other possibilities. The paella is among the best I ve ever had with lots of fresh seafood. Crab and prawn cakes are a must for seafood lovers. Excellent wine list. The service is friendly and welcoming with great knowledge of the menu. Comfortable seating in the dining room and bar. Parking in front. Perfect spot to celebrate or just for a relaxing delicious meal.

Went on a Saturday evening. Was seated right next to the bar, felt pretty squeezed in. Not a very generous seating arrangement. Service was very attentive. Received meat in the dish despite mentioning being pescatarian. Service was flawless, very professional and dish was substituted in a timely matter. We had appetizers and main course. Portions were generous. Unfortunately, the paella did not meet our expectations. The sauce was very watery and overpowered by cumin. This took away the taste from the otherwise generous selection of seafood. Considering the price we payed we would not go back. The good service and generous portions could not make up for the poor seating arrangement, the disappointing paella and the upscale price tag.

We came here for lunch while we were in town. The location is immaculate and the staff are top notch. I ordered the chowder and it was some of the best Ive ever had. They have only been open for 3 days as of this review - the exyeriour could do with some signage for guests, without knowing about it ahead of time we would not have stopped as it looks like a residence.

Tilly s Kitchen is a wonderful place to have a special night out with family and friends. The food is quite simply, amazing! The service is warm and hospitable. When we sat down, our friendly server offered a tasting of their feature evening wine, which we ordered full glasses right away. We would recommend this casual, upscale restaurant to anyone who is seeking delicious, east coast dishes and a memorable evening.

The four meals we had ( The burger, seafood chowder, seafood linguine and chicken/chorizo pasta) were wonderful. Make sure you start with some dumplings. Oh my!

Family and I tried Tillys Kitchen today. Was very impress with the food we ordered and service we got. We just recently moved here from Toronto. Our family loves food and have tried many local restaurants that could be similar or better cuisine as Toronto. By far Tillys Kitchen blown our taste buds. The best restaurants we tried so far in New Glasgow and the surrounding area of Halifax. We definitely found a gem and will be back for many more meals.

In September this year, I went to the Maritime Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Soctia and PEI. The whole trip was naturally about tasting seafood from various places, and there were often various surprises along the way; but this seafood restaurant in New Glasgow surprised me. Its unexpectedly amazing, and its worth my time to give it a five-star review. This restaurant is located on the main road in a villa that is definitely considered a mansion in the area. The interior lighting is suitable and the decoration is very elegant and emotional. The waitresses are polite, friendly, enthusiastic and professional. I ordered Seafood Chowder, a Marinated Grilled Squid with soup (appetizer), and a seafood platter (main course). Many Western restaurants have chowder, but the seafood soup here is absolutely top-notch: moderately thick, moderately salty, everything is just right; it contains lobster, tiger shrimp, scallops and marinated meat, and has the freshness of seafood but no seafood. fishy smell. As soon as I came up, I couldnt wait to clear the place, and I actually forgot to take pictures. The appetizer of grilled squid seasoned with soup sauce is very unique, which I have never eaten elsewhere. The grilled squid is cooked at just the right temperature, making it cooked but not stale, fragrant but not burnt. The store very thoughtfully put a small stick of French bread on the appetizer plate. Tear the bread into small pieces and soak it in the grilled squid soup. It is simply wonderful. The final main course was genuine, with a large bowl full of various types of seafood, including tiger prawns, squid, mussels, scallops, salmon, and Haddock (haddock) from the Atlantic Ocean, etc. This kind of large quantities of seafood ingredients are carefully cooked and put on a large plate. The elegant waitress brings the aroma from the kitchen all the way to my table. Everyone will be impressed by the chef of this restaurant. I was impressed by the excellent cooking skills and the uncompromising generosity and sincerity of the store owner. After finishing these three dishes, my appetite is still there, but my stomach is full. At the end of the checkout, the bill surprised me again! A seafood dinner with such top-quality ingredients is less than $60 after tax! ! If you go to a high-end Western restaurant in Vancouver, it is common for the bill to be $100. I only stayed in New Glasgow temporarily for one night, and I didn t go anywhere else. Tillys Kitchen became my only good memory in New Glasgow and the most unforgettable seafood restaurant in my entire trip to the Maritime Provinces. If youre in Nova Scotia but not in New Glasgow, it doesnt matter. Its worth driving 180 kilometers to Tillys Kitchen for a seafood dinner!

Our second visit to Tillys was as great as the first!! As a family with food sensitivities Tillys accommodated us with delicious options. We left with full bellies and felt great! Our boys 7 and 10 even enjoyed going and are planning their next visit back. Thanks Again! Dietary restrictions: Extensive menu that is very accomodating to a number of food sensitivities. Every waitress has a cheat sheet of sensitive ingredients in each dish.

We had our wedding dinner at Tilly s. I can not say enough about how fabulous everything was. From the moment we walked in, the servers all went above and beyond to ensure everyone was looked after. The food, my gosh, the food was amazing! I think everyone had something different but I can personally say the appetizer squid and the Piri-Piri lamb were both delicious, my husband loved the pork dumplings and said the tenderloin was perfection. Wonderful experience in every way!

We had a great experience I would like to share. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was outstanding.
