Kozak Ukraїnian Eatery in New Westminster

Delicious, everything home made and authentic. I loved it in here. Great lunch and great dessert. Wish they had cottage cheese perogis. But I got the wild boar ones and still delicious!

I m disappointed. I took some food home. I also ordered borscht, berry varenyky, coffee, and honey cake to eat at the restaurant. I ve been to all three Kozak locations, and I really didn t like this one. I won t say anything about the service because we re all human. But the portion sizes compared to the prices leave much to be desired. If you order something to take home, like semi-finished products, it might be okay. But dining in I m disappointed. Despite missing Ukraine and sometimes wanting to feel like I m there, I won t be returning to this place. The borscht was decent.

A Hidden Gem for Pastry Lovers! I can t say enough good things about this Ukrainian café! Their bakery is absolutely top-notch. The butter croissant is pure perfection flaky and buttery. The pistachio croissant? A 10/10 experience! The balance of flavors and the quality of ingredients really shine through. They didn t last long enough for a photo coz I ate them too quickly. The Frappuccino cube is also very unique :) The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a coffee with your pastries. Whether you re a croissant enthusiast or just someone who appreciates amazing baked goods, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Best hot Chocolate in town.

Ordered the Napoleon cake. Was tasty and good. However, we paid $5 extra for berries and this is what we received. Quite a rip off. Just a few blueberries on either corner. Online, the picture showed chocolate shavings as well. We just didn t feel we got what we paid for and we were disappointed by how cheap/skimpy this was. -UPDATE- They got back to me very promptly to rectify the situation. Extra star for that.

Good food, good atmosphere and great service. Today I ordered a coffee and pistachio croissant. Normally their coffee and pastries are good but today the coffee was bland and the croissant was dry (more annoying that it costs 8.50!) But after telling the cashier about this, they immediately gave me a fresh butter croissant. That s called great service. But dry, day olds croissant selling over 8 bucks? Come on Kozak, you can do better!

Adorable little food spot! The staff were amazing and the food was so good! My friend and I came for the Croissant Crawl croissants and we already know well be back to try everything else!

We have been ordering from Kozak for a while, and the decline in quality has been incredibly steep and awful. Overpriced everything; Mama s combo is barely enough to feed a kid (at 20 bucks), chicken soup is just garlic water with a lot of carrots, and perogies are just drenched in oil. So sad to see this once upon a time lovely restaurant be another place crossed off our list.

The Babka and the Varenyky perogies were tasty! The latte was good as well. As with similar bakeries, there are only high chairs, and just a few of them. Service was good and fast.

Usually very busy, but quite delicious. I buy my bread here.

The workers are so amazing and friendly. They helped me when requested with my pronunciation. EXCELLENT EVERYTHING! I get bread, cookies, pastry. Luckily new west is hilly so I can walk off the deliciousness.

Damn good cabbage rolls - their sour cream is top notch

Everything looked really good. Unfortunately we came for the ube and passionfruit cube but it was sold out so we got the Frappuccino cube instead. It was amazing. It looks hard and crusty on the outside but it was actually really soft with just a bit of crispiness. The inside was fluffy and buttery. There were many more really delicious looking options available so Ill definitely be coming back to try many items.

As part of the Vancouver Croissant Crawl, friends picked up their ube cube. It was huge! We cut it into 4, and it was still 6 bites. I didnt go into the store, so I cant comment on anything other than the 1 item. Given their comments of the other pastries on display, Ill be going to check it out for myself another time.

I ordered the beef stew it was good not great. Side of bread was good. My kid got the potato pancake. It was the greasiest food I d ever seen but tasty. The double chocolate cookie wasn t sweet so I liked that. I got the garlic bread I wasn t expecting garlic chunks. It s okay. Wish they offered to cut it though. Super busy place and tiny. Also no longer serves bacon and waffles which was why my daughter wanted to go.

I love this place. Pastries, lunch, coffee you name it, they have you covered. And so tasty. The staff are amazingly friendly and welcoming.

A fabulous combination of homemade with fresh, progressive sensibilities. That is, imagine your grandma s cooking if she time travelled to our time. My family is from nearby Poland, and this food sent me there, esp. after the Wall fell, when contemporary creativity had room to blossom. If you ve never had this kind of food, you won t be disappointed. Their homemade breads & baked goods are to die for too. Seriously, wild boar pierogies?! Wowzer! No wonder they have 3 restaurants! Wheelchair accessibility: It s possible when not crowded.

Today we visited this establishment for the first time, it is small but very Ukrainian. We ordered Pork Borscht, Mamas Combo , Napoleon, Uzvar (a taste from childhood) and it was all amazing. Therefore, they took home bread, lard and Napoleon. My Canadian friend was delighted with the natural taste of Ukrainian cuisine and the friendliness of the staff. This place is the best!!! Been coming once in a while for many years. Just try everything. My absolute favorite is the Napoleon cake, the taste is incredible. The store is also very cute, and the staff are all super sweet and great at recommending yummy new baked goods to try. If you havent you gotta come try it!

I ordered the home plate (Mamas Combo ), and it was very clear. She gave me without sausage, and when I asked, she just said sorry and brought it after I almost finished my plates .food was oily, and that plate was expensive. She did apologize 2 times, but it just was 3 customers in store . Also, if I didnt find one item that was missing, and could never ask.....! Anyway, Im not satisfied .... Waist my money.

Too delicious to describe. We got the kakao, chocolate babka, mushroom cabbage rolls and dill/potato pierogies. They were all perfection. I would have taken a picture but I was too excited.

As far as im concerned , theyre taking advantage of that because they could offer way better sized perogies for the same price they have and still make a killing

I ve done dine in and delivery at this location and the owners are excellent at making sure you get the best quality from food and service. I love the décor and atmosphere of the location but their food is excellent anywhere. My favorite desert is the Babka .

I love coming here. Not only the folk here are friendly, warm and courteous but the food is very exotic and delicious. I experienced the best here and encourage folks to visit and try their baked goods as well as other regular food they have to offer.

One of my favorite stops when visiting new Westminster. If I lived closer, I would be a frequent customer. The atmosphere, the staff, and the food is truly wonderful. Dive into their wonderful dumplings and baked goods. And the country sourdough is the best I have had in years! It reminds me of what my dear grandmother use to make when I was younger.

What an awesome little gem this place is. Stumbled across the Kozak Bakery in between Dr appointments. Got here just as they opened. The place was hopping! Obviously many others know of this spot. Staff are super-friendly and the food is amazing. I ll be back!

*Update* Came back tonight with my fiancé for dessert and service was amazing. Also had the pleasure of trying the new strawberry mascarpone danish and omg it s incredible! Highly recommend and hope it becomes a part of the regular menu!! Original: Absolutely delicious comfort food! I have ordered delivery from here a couple of times and have always been so impressed. I love the complete attention to detail, from wrapping of food in paper right down to the handwritten labeling on each item. They even included a free sample with my order and I was so lucky to get to try to the chocolate babka. The food is filling and high quality. I really feel you can taste the love and passion they put into it. Highly recommended!

6 Perogies were the size of a quarter each. Had no taste either. The cabbage rolls were tiny and borscht wasnt even hot All that $44.00 I wont be back ...this was my 1st time there and my last.

Love the Kvas drink. The staff are friendly. Kvas is not always available. The to-go cups are significantly smaller. Ordered a different drink to go because Kvas was not available. I am surprised by the amount of ice in the small cup. Maybe it is preferable by others on this summer day. I am disappointed.

Its really delicious! Good quality, homemade food. I had the Mamas Combo with potato and dill Pierogis, the sausage on sauerkraut, and the mushroom cabbage roll, as well as an Iced coffee and rum ball. Easy to get either vegan, vegetarian, or meat options. The shop is clean and attractive and the service was great. I will be coming back and trying their Week supply of Ukrainian food take-home package.

Kozak Ukrainian Eatery: A Hole-in-the-Wall Gem in Westminster Found myself at Kozak Ukrainian Eatery in Westminster for a lunch break. Snagged a seat on the sidewalk and dug into their Hungry Tatos lunch special. The sourdough bread was phenomenal crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Perfect for soaking up the rich gravy. The potato and dill pierogi were plump and bursting with flavor, and the cabbage rolls were hearty and satisfying. Exactly what I needed to hit the spot. Washed it all down with a couple of their house beers. If youre looking for a no-frills spot with fantastic Ukrainian fare, Kozak Ukrainian Eatery is the real deal. Dont be fooled by the size this little place packs a big punch. And on a sunny afternoon in New West, it wasnt a bad way to spend a few hours.

I always love their desserts. I don t know any food s name on the breakfast combos but I believe them, I was right So yummy .

Some of the best Slavic food Ive had! Pierogi and holubtsi were prepared quickly and well! If youve never tried Eastern European food, definitely check this place out!

I visited the Kozak in the morning at 9:30 on April 23 in New Westminster, the quality has deteriorated significantly, the pies have some kind of jam instead of cherries, hard, stale, without a discount, the round bread is also not fresh and without a discount, now I m stopping visiting the Cossack

The chocolate babka is to die for. I have had so many of their pastries now and they are all show stopping.

(English version below) Im Ukrainian and a regular customer of Kozak, so maybe Im a little biased, but the paska we ordered this year exceeded our expectations. The price seemed too high at first, but when I saw them (and especially tasted them), the questions disappeared by themselves. This is the tastiest (and most beautiful) paska weve ever eaten, thank you! I am a Ukrainian and a long time customer of Kozak so I might be a bit prejudiced, but the Easter Bread we bought this year from them exceeded all our expectations! The price seemed a little too high at first, but when I saw it (and especially tasted), I realized that it was in fact quite fair. This was the most delicious and gorgeous looking Paska Ive ever had! Thank you!

I tried the wafer tort, sausage in a blanket, a sour cream-filled croissant, a pistachio croissant, a couple of babkas, and their famous Ukrainian latte. Every savoury pastry tasted balanced, delicious, and outstanding. I can t wait to come back to enjoy more of what they have to offer. My personal favs were the latte and babka and croissant. The staffs are great and the eatery itself is well maintained. A must visit Vegetarian options: A couple of vegan, gluten free and only vegetarian savouries are available

Saddens me to see this restaurant is getting really greedy. They got rid of their Hungry Tato combo and decided to have the borscht as an add on for $8.25 for the mama combo. More expensive for less food. I tried it; wasn t satisfying at all.

Every time I crave Ukrainian food I m really doubting whether I should visit Kozak, but it s the only place that serves Ukrainian cuisine, so no other choice. Today was my final visit when I told myself never again. I ordered iced latte, there was no ice and it was half warm. I also ordered syrnyki, which supposed to come with 5 pieces, and there were only 4. The jam it came with wasn t even filled to half of the container. Really disappointed.

not sure why people are giving this restaurant 5 to 6 stars because honestly their food is extremely expensive, burnt, hard as a rock and overcooked bread and soup, and staff will charge you extra on check your receipt you will be scam . If I didn t i would have paid 8 dollars for nothing. This 5to 6 stars most likely a bot. The dark chocolate cinnamon loaf is 30 bucks at which you can get three pies at save on. Never again. If there is a negative score option I would give this a minus 2. Their quality just went down so quickly.; perhaps retraining staff would be an option. Parking: Go park else where

Awesome food and great service

Hands down the best pierogies Ive ever had (so far). Goulash/borscht warms the body in cold rainy days and their house draft beer calls for a revisit. Would highly recommend their bakeries/drinks as well.

Nice place but too expensive. Bought five items and did not like any so through them out. Each to their own. Just not like my mothers was years ago.

Great place, homemade and yummy. Prices have gone up a lot. Had like 6 delicious perogies for $15, like 2.75 each! They were good but too expensive. Getting hard to find deals and good value everywhere. Disappointed with local restaurants quality but this one is good. You will pay for that.

They no longer had the croissant squares that I have been meaning to try,so I tried the pistachio roll and the pistachio rum baba and they are So Delicious!!! . I will be back to visit the New West location. Parking: It was around noon on Saturday and I had no trouble finding a spot near the store.

Had the Mama combo the other day adding a bowl of borscht. No shortcuts are taken with the preparation of the food. So flavorful and very high quality. I wish they still had the Hungry Tato combo. Today I got the Syrnyky....OMG! It was so tasty, a sweet savory combination. I am slowly working my way through trying all the pastries. Today I revisited a favorite with the apple strudel. Every new thing I have tried is excellent. I think the Napoleon cake is calling for my next visit.

With that great quality of food and great staff, I won t be surprised if this places put the neighboring Tims out of business. Even if Ukrainian food is intimidating to try at first, their pastries should hook anyone in.
