This is a lovely smallish independent cafe on Front Street in New Westminster.

A sneaky little gem hiding in a perfect place. Their Iced Caramel Macchiato is sweet without being overpowering, and they have amazing vegan cinnamon buns. None of that weirdly doughy or dry texture you usually get from a vegan bun- and the staff is friendly and welcoming!

This café is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and welcoming staff made me feel right at home. This café is incredible, but what really makes it special are the two lovely girls behind the counter! Their energy is contagious, and they work together like a dream team. Whether it s crafting the perfect latte or sharing a quick laugh with customers, they bring such a warm and cheerful vibe to the place. I tried their filipinixx latte, it was perfectly crafted and absolutely delicious. The attention to detail here is unmatched, from the beautiful presentation of the food to the charming decor that sets the perfect mood. Whether you re here for a quick coffee or a long chat with friends, this place has it all. Highly recommend!

omg! I love this cafe so much. I only have been there once, but I just fell in love with it! The staff is friendly, fun and welcoming!! They also see the owner s second hand clothes and they are good quality and affordable! I must go back there!!

My family and I love this cafe and have been coming since it was first open. My 5 year old son loves the vegan pizza pretzel and the oat milk latte is awesome. There is a very cute cozy corner and a great vibe for studying, meetings or catching up.

I like this cafe a lot. Close to river to grab a drink and/or snack before hand. The lay out is cute and comfy. I just wish they would improve their hours. Other than that I m a regular customer

I love the ambiance of the cafe. That corner was so dreamy where the books have been kept. The people working there are so humble and polite. I tried vegan walnut cookie and it was too yum. Ill surely visit the cafe soon and will recommend my friends Vegetarian options: I tried vegan walnut cookie. I actually found it scrumptious

My friend and I were excited to try the food here but when we asked if the bread was vegan, we were informed that it was not vegan and they use the same bread for everything. When the menu clearly says Vegan Grilled Cheese and we are told that the food is not vegan, that menu should be changed. Cross contamination is one thing (which we truly are not bothered by) but false claims on the menu is another. Hopefully this is just a case of miscommunication.

I wasnt impressed with their mango cake. And the default latte is perfectly alright. Sandwiches just ok. But what prompted this review was their ube latte. The first in a small batch of filipino style flavours, this was a treat. If youve ever had a beet or sweet potato latte, you know the treat youre in for. Just sweet enough the people at the counter were polite and pretty quick too! I always like the atmosphere here, and they added a wooden platform with sitting pillows, carpet, and a small stack of books to read

They took my question of what drink to get based solely on a description of my mood, feelings and predfered tastes and recommended a perfect iced tea for me. Great service. Amazing owner. Working on many community building inclusive events at the space. Definitely worth supporting.

Americano misto is my favorite!!!

I went to this place with my son and a friend afternoon on 18th of March. I ordered drink, scone and cake. I carried my son and I was handed a scone, but I felt rushed by the staff at the cashier who wore a blue T-shirts. I didn t like her attitude. Food and atmosphere were good and I sometimes come to this place but not again.

A pleasant place to work with a good selection of drinks and food (I had a jasmine tea with a tasty bacon scone) and friendly service.

Love this Cafe. Dont get here as often as I want but everyone the staff are friendly and helpful. I order a simple coffee but its great. My personal favorite treat is the carrot cake but on the times I branch out...or eat some of my kids choices, its all excellent.

Went through to grab a quick hot beverage with my dad and a carrot cake. The ambience of the place is nice, clean and well maintained. I ordered a 12 oz Mocha with oat milk & my father got a dark roast with cream and sugar I believe, & a carrot cake to share. I want to first say the good: the carrot cake was great, not too sweet and good texture. The bad: the coffee for both our drinks were not very hot, almost like warm and the coffee tasted so off! At first I thought it my mocha because of the oat milk. And my dad complained at how bad the coffee tasted and I tried his and it didn t taste like coffee at all. (For reference he drinks dark roasts at Starbucks so obviously will be quite a bit different) but It has this weird aftertaste that s oddly sweet. I asked the barista what type of coffee it was and she answered Colombian so maybe we just aren t attuned to the taste? but I d say it was definitely without exaggeration one of the least pleasant tasting coffee I ve had. We both couldn t finish our drinks and just tossed it, I d say I d come for the baked goods and sandwhiches maybe but the drinks were not very good at all for the price.

I tried the tiramisu latte and it didn t have much flavour. I was expecting more but the spot is nice and cozy. I also got to try the avocado toast which was pretty delicious! Good for coffee and homework. During the summer, it gets warm and bright!

It was my first time here and I am truly disappointed by the coffee. As an avid coffee drinker I get very excited to try new local cafes, however, I was left utterly disappointed by this water down coffee.

You can tell the texture of dacquoise was not fresh. Not crunchy and even worse, one of chocolate cream was sour. I was excited to visit this cute Cafe with so many good reviews. However, I got terrible experience. I ordered two dacquoise, carrot cake and Matcha latte. It cost me $28.98 dollars including tips. The carrot cake was non of any carrot flavour but full of sweetness. Every taste was sugar. The matcha latte was normal but I asked for sugar free and it tasted sweet. Well the service was good because I didn t wait for long on the Friday afternoon. I understand it s not easy to own a small business. However, at least treat your customers with your good enough quality. Otherwise, no one is going to come back.

Just your average cafe. The table closest to the washroom is wobbly and spilled my drink everywhere. Also a bit bummed that they got rid of their melon pan from their selection of baked goods.

Ordered a hazelnut latte and loved it. The place is quiet and relaxing and the decoration is simple but pretty. Service was ok.

Ordered a cortado, and when it was served they initially called my drink as a cappuccino. I was immediately assured by staff that it was actually a cortado, but it was a cappuccino. Ham and cheddar sandwich was aesthetically pleasing and the ingredients and bread were fresh, but it wasnt particularly flavourful.

If you want to pay premium price for bad service, this place is for you. Ordered two iced espresso beverage for over $15 with a lady who seemed to be annoyed to serve, but fortunately was not rude to me, we waited for our drinks seeing other people taking theirs one after another. It was clear that the cashier forgot to pass the order to barista as the barista was wondering what I was waiting for. No explanation or apology offered except between the cashier and the barrista, not to the customer. Drinks themselves tasted okay except one of them had a spoonful of espresso ground floating. This was my second visit to Hive Cafe and was had to suffer from slow service. I really should remember to not go here again.

I recently visited Hive and was blown away by the quality of their coffee and their service. The staff are friendly, accommodating and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. The coffee is honestly some of the best I ve ever had, full of flavour and perfectly balanced. And to top it off, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to catch up with friends or work remotely. I can t recommend Hive enough - a fantastic experience all around.

Stopped by for a quick coffee run when I was in the neighbourhood. The cafe is cute and they have a nice selection of baked goods. I ordered a london fog. The foam was tasty but the drink itself was kind of plain. Not the best experience but overall ok.

I never miss a chance to visit Hive Cafe every time Im in New West for a meeting. Their sunny location and ample seating make it the perfect spot to enjoy a great latte! The team is always welcoming and attentive, and their coffee is exceptional! Be sure to carve out some time for a visit - you wont regret it!

I had the iced Belgian mocha and a tiramisu dacquoise. They were both delicious. The barista was very nice and helped me make my choices. Nice ambience in the cafe.

Very flavorful drinks. Ive ordered in as well as had them through take-out and theyve always been delicious. Not too sweet, not too bitter. They have a wide selection of options such as different mochas and lattes and have variable baked goods depending on the day of the week. Their red velvet cookie is so good!

Cute cafe in a posh area near the quay! Good coffee and baked goods! It s right next to the railway and some big construction sites so a bit noisy outside, but still nice place to sit around.

A tough one to write but honesty is the best policy. I feel that the cinnamon roll that was purchased is most DEFINITELY not worth the cost paid. I felt slightly cheated because I feel personally, if something is labelled Vegan, the price must be higher. Really disappointed, please change the price, or step up the bake drastically. Feedback; - Its bread add the yeast and let it rise. - More cinnamon and Vegan butter, we arent at war so I dont know why it was rationed. - Thicker consistency on the icing, again dont know why its rationed. Only then would the price be fair. What saved the day, was the Vegan cookie. Tasty and warm when served.

One of the nicest coffee shops in New West. Love their smooth lattes and dacquoise treats which are gluten free. Service has always been great. This is a favourite stop on our walks through the downtown.

This cafe is in a convenient location to walk by the Quay and skytrain. Food and drinks are average The interior looks great. Weirdly, air conditioner wasnt on during a really hot day. Hopefully staff are okay. Good place for a quick drink and snack compared to the concession stand a few blocks away

Ordered the Cortado, it was perfect. As you can see from the picture the rose latte art was a nice touch. Definitely would recommend if you enjoy good coffee and good vibes. It s very vibrant inside.

Ok I usually dont post reviews especially of places I try to support but if I dont say anything nothing will get done! I have been here three times in a row and each time I was given a story on why they couldnt serve any of the hot food on their menu. Mind you I have to drive 30 minutes to get to this place from Coquitlam to enjoy a few plant-based options and treats. This last time visit took the cake. The lady at the counter said she cannot make me any food because of staffing issues and she was the only one there. Its 12pm lunch time mind you... Management: If your staff is not available during the lunch time rush when are they available? Christmas? Midnight? The shop is only open to 4:30pm but they stop serving everything about 3pm (learned that the last visit) so I thought I came at a good time this time. Evidently its never a good time for me. Maybe its something personal. Why do you think I say that. Because sitting down there were people enjoying the same sandwiches I came to order!!!! When I pointed it out once again I was told they had the stock just didnt have time to make me anything? Are you hearing what youre saying? Are you guys nuts? What kind of service is this? Im plant-based so Im trying to support you guys and you just slap me in the face. Ive never heard of something like this. Im even thinking that the staff doesnt even care anymore. Are you guys closing up something? This is ridiculous. Ended up spending almost 40 bucks on a pretzel and some cookies I should have never ordered because I was starving. Good job Hive Cafe. Total dumpster fire train wreck. Then you wonder why people associate so much negativity to plant based friendly places. You really think normal cafes a run like this?

Such a beautiful cafe, atmosphere was wonderful to work in. Feels like a hidden gem since its under the bridge on a tucked away block. I love the plants here, and plenty of outlets available.

What a lovely cafe!

Would recommend trying their Vietnamese iced coffee! Cant speak for their food since I havent tried. It gets pretty busy here and indoor space and seating is very limited which is one of the challenges with this place. Usually cant find an empty seat inside. Parking is also all paid parking in the area. Theres an urban city park nearby which is walking distance (few minutes walk) to enjoy your coffee and goods at. Saying this because its good to have nearby options to go to if youre not dining in.

This cafe shop is located at New Westminster, it s quiet but gives a vivid vibe. Their Hojicha tea is amazing!! But their sandwiches is just okay do not recommend order Tiramisu latte, it taste nothing like tiramisu and we wait for like 20 minutes to get our drink.

Ordered on Uber Beef wrap had no meat we ordered three breakfast sandwiches with ham, only gave us two Food was decent but you re better off going to some place like Denny s for breakfast

It s like mediocre coffee met mediocre pastries and they put it in a nice building and charge more than other shops around. Good for one experience, but not good enough in New West to be a regular cafe spot.

Tucked away on Front St. Hive is a cozy coffee shop. I can only comment on the Americano (good) and the walnut chocolate cookies (delicious). Id probably give 5 stars but they dont have coffee mugs. Coffee should be served in mugs (or at least it should be an option) :-) Food

Im so glad I found this charming little sandwich/coffee spot. The girls at the front desk were very happy and polite and they started my day off on a great note. Thank you both for being such a great team! If your ever in this area I reccomend stopping in for a quick bite and some delicious coffee.

Drinks & ambience/decor are both great! Cute little cafe to stop by if you re in the New West area. My go-to is their iced Vietnamese latte or matcha latte sub vanilla.

Wow I m very surprised by the drink quality here. It looked like a pretty cafe from the outside with a lot of nice reviews but I was faced with a handful of disappointments. I wouldn t recommend to come here if you want good coffee. Both the viet coffee and belgian mocha was a solid 1/10 in flavour.

Unless you want rude baristas, terrible drinks, and dried out food, do not come here. Came here for the first time with high expectations because of the amazing reviews, but we were extremely disappointed and even giving a 1/5 stars is too much. Despite there being 4 workers, 2 were constantly on the delivery tablet, 1 at the front till was extremely rude, and 1 was taking very long to make 2 drinks while there was a line up to the door. Asked the girl on till a couple questions about if the Vietnamese coffee normally comes with 2% milk, and she said it as a given and said it s cow milk. Don t offer delivery service if you can t focus on the customers in cafe first. Aesthetic is nice, but I would not recommend or come back.

Very relaxing place to meet-up or work. Great food and drinks. I really enjoyed the vibes I had when I came in and during my visit. Their cookies are amazing, and I hope I can visit again to try their other treats.

This is a really cute cafe and I really want to love it. The staff are nice, and give good service. The baked goods are awesome (try the dacquoise!). But today I tried their breakfast wrap and a tea. They give generous servings of tea leaves, so watch your steeping time! The breakfast wrap was horrible. It had very little flavour, but that s not a huge deal. The real problem was the texture of the eggs. The scrambled eggs tasted like they had been replaced with ground up erasers. I later learned that the wraps are not made on site, but other sandwiches are. So it had probably been frozen and microwaved before it hit the panini press. If you go, enjoy the treats, but check with them in advance if your order will be made fresh on site.

I do love this place the food and drink is one of my absolute favs . HOWEVER, I hope mgmt is reading . You NEED to get extra staff. You re always short staffed when I come in mostly on Saturdays. I see 2-3 Uber type drives out front and 6-8 people waiting to be served or waiting for their drinks. I feel for the staff. I see no help wanted signs, so I m guessing it s something else. Pls take this constructive feedback cuz I don t want u to loos customers as you do provide a great end product.

The sandwich style cookies are pure perfection. Perfect balance of sweet indulgence without being too much. Dense and light at the same time, even fluffy? Whoever makes them is a genius and the high price is worth it.

Cute store, but its incredibly slow. There was one other customer infront of me, wasnt even able to get an order in because i had to go to a meeting to attend. Long story short I waited for about 15 minutes in a one person line, previous customer ( 2 other) were still waiting for their order. I work in a cafe too with high volumes of customer with just two staff as well, no one waits 15 minutes for their coffee or food. First impression was not very good tbh. Maybe next time.

I don t think I ve ever disliked anything I have tried here, maybe the one cookies and cream cinnebun, but not because it was bad, I just acknowledge it was more calories than I wanted to sacrifice for what it was. Besides that I loved ALL of their baked goods, and they have a lot of delicious sandwich options. They also have these things, I never remember the name, but they re like macaroons but better in my opinion.

I love their food, especially avocado toasts and dacquoise. Every drinks, hot or cold has been tasty and super friendly service. My favourite spot in new west!

Seriously, my only real complaint is that I didnt find them until after 3 and they close at 4. The staff were sweet and just seemed to exude sociability. If Im 100% honest, Id love for them to have more cozy seating options... just because it would be the on the cake.

Quaint little Cafe tucked away on Front street. Unique variety of baked goods and vegan wraps and sandwiches are also available. Seating is limited but on a weekday morning it was easy to find space. Good option for those looking for a quick bite near Pier.

I accidentally discovered a coffee shop located by the New Westminster River The interior is decorated with green plants and a simple style. I like it very much. The choice is Hermès among coffee machines. Personal test recommendation!

Delicious drinks and snacks

Ordered from Uber, everything was packaged up very nicely. Carrot Cake: Very tasty, would order again. Vegan Cinnamon Roll: Did not like nor taste like a cinnamon roll. more like a slice bread with curdled tasteless frosting. Vietnamese Iced Coffee: A solid iced coffee, very smooth and mellow, but not like a strong Vietnamese iced coffee you get from Vietnamese restaurants Grilled Turkey Sandwich: Nice simple sandwich, tasty.

Coffee is great and tried the vegan bimbibap wrap, avocado toast and the vegan cinnamon all were delicious!

Visited on Sunday afternoon, plenty of seats. WiFi and socket outlet available for laptop or USB ports. Variety of pastries mainly cakes, coffee was great. No cash is accepted now as posted. The nearby neighborhood of downtown New Westminster is such a quiet and relaxing atmosphere for weekend chill out or reading time. Much to enjoy!

Staff very obliging and friendly but! They don t use ceramic mugs only disposable. This is disappointing. Hive, I hope you consider how you can contribute to efforts to keep single use cups out of landfills, as so many establishments are.

Cute cafe with good coffee and tons of outlets available. However, some tables are super wobbly. Very uncomfortable to use and work on. my coffee spilled slightly because of it as well.

I am a dedicated client but have noticed a significant dropping in quality. For a couple of times I got shocked with flies on pastries, long waiting time and the new crew seems to be unfriendly. Too sad to see how bad hive Cafe is becoming.

I was here with a friend Nov 3, 2022. Pastries were great. Coffee was the worst I ever had. It s early am on Nov 7. I look over my credit card statement online and I see that I have TWO credit card charges for the exact same amount on Nov 3, 2022. I will be going there today to get a refund. And this is a church affiliate?

Great coffee. A good place to meet others.

I went there on Sunday on a cloudy afternoon hoping to get some nice pastries and cup of tea. When I got there, I checked out the pastries but all of them seemed stale and somehow not pleasing to my eyes, so I decided to only grab lavender earl grey latte to go. Hmm, the latte itself taste bad I d say. It s very bland, no lavender taste yet just plain not sweet no taste at all. Pretty disappointed and not going back there anytime.

First time eating here, I had white hot chocolate ( its okay ) feels like needs more chocolate in it, also the hazelnut crunch ( delicious) and the beef wrap ( no much flavour ) unfortunately i was very excited to try the food here since i know is a popular cafe in new west, however the wrap had an interesting flavour and i dont love it. Had to order some ketchup to make it better I give 4 stars because i know the other food is much better but it was more like a 3.5 stars foe today s experience

They have everything you want from a coffee shop, even some special threats as melon pans from Ef&Be, and special cookies (bit expensive). Drinks are like usual. They have some tables and the decoration is nice. The black point is the staff, not so friendly and careless. Ive been twice and felt like I was bothering them.

We got most of our orders through doordash and never once were disappointed with the food / drinks we got. Super cute notes from their staff every time. This is always a nice treat to me and my husband on a busy work day at home.

Hit or miss. Belgian mocha frapp was amazing, the oreo frapp was terrible. Sickeningly sweet with an extremely artificial flavour that tasted like medicine. Mocha frapp was great however, and I dont even like coffee. Make sure to specify vegan though as otherwise they add condensed milk and whipped cream. Decent selection of vegan goodies from bonus bakery and to live for. Staff were nice. A bit expensive though.

Its a good place but I must warn that the hot coffee and tea is much much hotter than anywhere else I get coffee from. Maybe this is something you like but mine was still hot 30 minutes later.

The staffs are great and very patient. They also have dairy- free options. Great services and good coffee.

Ordered the beef wrap (bulgogi) and it was bland and just mostly rice. $8.50 plus tax for the wrap and its about 5 inch long, 2.5 inch wide, and 1 inch deep. Not worth it

One of my favorite coffee places if not my all time favorite. Whenever Im in the area, I always make sure to stop by for my favorite drink. They dont take cash, so just know that. And they have real straws and not paper straws

My favorite cafe in New Westminster. It s a hidden gem that s kind of tucked away from the main street. Chill atmosphere and friendly staff! Just steps away from the Quay.

Nice spot

A local cafe in the new Westminster downtown area on the front street nearby the pier next to the train track. May be possible to have a chance for train watching if one passes by while you visit the shop; you may need to speak very loud to talk to your friends if you are there with them. Simple menu with hot and cold drinks along with some snack for sale. They also sale some coffee beans and powder if you are interested.

Belgian mocha and iced Vietnamese coffee were really good. The seating outside is so perfect to enjoy sunshine and perfectly located to grab coffee and walk the pier park.

Cute & modern cafe located along Pier Park in New West on Front St near the New West Quay. I d recommend using the paid parking lot a walkable distance (~15min walk) to the café in the Shops of New West where the Landmark Cinema is located. There s also small strip of paid available right in front of the café, but it s a bit more difficult to enter the lot, there s limited spaces, and I m not sure how much it costs. Very nice to visit especially when it s sunny, I came on a good day and sat on the patio which overlooks the water. My order: Avocado Hummus Toast ($7.75): this was very reasonably priced, and is served on a thin piece of sour dough bread, and topped with arugula and balsamic vinegar. Very flavourful and good use of ingredients on top (they don t cheap out) Carrot Cake ($6.85): Super moist cake with real cream cheese, this was hands down my favourite item here along with the strong Viet iced coffee. Red Velvet Cake ($6.85): tad bit too sweet for me, but I m also not a fan of Red Velvet cake in general personally. It s moist though. Matcha & Almond Drop Cookies ($3.25), Red Velvet Cookie w/ Cream Cheese ($3.50) & Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3.25): Cookies were jumbo and very soft. Classic choco chip was my fave cookie. Red velvet had a cream cheese filling (too sweet). Matcha flavour wasn t strong, but still enjoyable to eat. Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($4.50): strong and yummy, I d recommend this as well. Matcha Frappé ($5.95): matcha flavour was on the weak side unfortunately, and it s super creamy (especially with the whipped cream). I d say it s even creamier than Starbucks matcha frappe. I d also recommend getting it half sweet.

Friendly service and nice cookies. The drinks are also good. Its a decent cafe. The downside is lack of seating spaces.

This is a nice cafe with friendly staff. I ordered a breakfast wrap & a tiramisu latte. The breakfast wrap was good but it tasted like a frozen breakfast wrap that I usually buy from Wal-Mart. The tiramisu latte was something I hadnt seen at any other cafe before, so it was definitely something that I am glad I tried. My friends ordered various cakes, which I had a bite of .. and they didnt taste too great. All you could really taste was the icing. There is very limited seating and ordering took forever. I probably wouldnt come back. Gave it a 3/5 because the staff were nice and the tiramisu latte was good.

i had their ultimate chocolate cake and it was by far the worst chocolate cake ive ever eaten in my life. it had no chocolate flavour AT ALL (i had my friend try it and she agreed), and was quite dry as well. definitely overpriced for the quality youre getting. coffee was good.

Must get the salted caramel latte

Drinks were tasty but the baked goods (cookies) seemed a little pricey.
