We've eaten at a lot of fish & chip places over the years, and by far Cockney Kings has the most tastiest seafood. The halibut we ordered for our most recent take out order was tender & delicious. We were also impressed with the portion size for the fish & chips. Prices are reasonable as well. Wait time was also reasonable considering that the place was very busy. Staff are very friendly and efficient. We definitely recommend this place for both take out and dine-in.
Decent fish and chips chain. Prices are fair. Portions are decent. Definitely a go to place if you want a quick bite for this simple pub dish. For those non-native to BC, I definitely recommend trying the salmon fish for a new unique flavour and taste! Lastly, parking is a bit difficult to find, especially during weekends. Washroom is also a single stall so be prepared to wait for your turn during peak hours.
Go there to have a brunch with hubby on Tuesday. There is AYCE from Monday to Wednesday, so we tried it. Almost full house on that day. The service is good although they are very busy. The fish is good. $17.95 AYCE with pop is a good deal.
The service and the atmosphere is amazing! I honestly can’t believe it. We went there for the All you can eat fish and chips and thought the service wouldn’t be great and the place would loud but it felt like a family restaurant; The best part was the service. They were very friendly and nice, despite them being busy they try their best to attend to you as soon as they can. Lastly, the food was okay I find their fish to have quite a bit of batter instead of fish; I wonder if this is only for the All you can eat option but either way it is also quite oily mostly because of the thick batter; fries were great though and I love their condiments they have an amazing tar tar sauce and vinegar.
Cockney Kings has been a staple of Columbia Square mall for many years. My last visit here was all the way back in 2012. Had a quick look at my old food blog and, sure enough, the menu hasn't changed much since then (aside from the prices). We ordered the combo platter where you can choose 2 different types of fish. We got the cod and snapper ($21.95) combo which came with chips, coleslaw, a dinner roll and butter. Then we added the 3pc prawns and 2 pc oysters (+$10.75). We also got their signature soup ($6.95). I forgotten how thick the batter was on their shrimp. A bit too much for my liking. The oyster batter was thinner. The soup has halibut, bacon, tiny clams, and veggies in a thickish chicken broth. The dinner roll is quite dry and cold but ok when dipped in the soup. The fish and chips here is serviceable but mid-level at best. The fish was either cooked a bit too long or wasn't the freshest as parts were a bit dry. Fries were lightly crispy but some also seemed quite limp. I ordered a ginger ale and it came out super flat. I mentioned this to the waitress and she poured another glass which was pretty much the same. Must have been something wrong with their machine so they just gave me a can instead. The place was actually fairly busy when we visited. Also noticed a strange odor inside. Not sure what it was (or if it was one of the other patrons).
For the value, I'd say we got our money's worth. The fish were cooked right and was well seasoned. The batter was light and fluffy. Halibut was a little overcooked, but still tender. Tartar sauce is served bottomless on the table, not too fancy. Calamari was a hit with the Greek like seasoning, and tender. Fish tacos were good too, but can use more seasoning or sauce. The kids meals were generous in their fish portions. Mine seemed to pick it over the chicken tenders, which only came with two pieces compared to the 5 or so smaller fish. Overall, it was a good experience for the family.
Delicious melt in your mouth halibut with perfect batter, the chips were still hot on the plate when served, and the kitchen split our 2 piece halibut and chips order for us at no extra charge. Service was really excellent, our server was friendly and our food didn’t take long to get to our table. The coleslaw tasted fresh and creamy and lacked the sour aftertaste that sometimes accompanies that dish. Good drink specials and food specials throughout the week as you can see. Sleeve of lager for $5 was perfect with my food. For the quality of the food, all in all very reasonable prices. Plenty of free parking in the shopping centre. Street parking around the corner is not free during the day. We went here on the recommendation of some friends and it definitely made up for a lacklustre fish and chips dinner we recently had elsewhere. My only small quibble was the pieces of halibut could have maybe been slightly bigger.
Their haddock fish & chips was excellent. I love the thin batter & fresh, chunky, firm pieces of fish inside. Fish & shrimp tacos were great too. Calamari was quite plain while their soup was kinda off for me, that combination of fish, clam, bacon, carrot, celery in 1 bowl. The volume of food was a nice surprise for the price. Our waitress was fantastic. Recommend this restaurant for those who want a somewhat simple, family-friendly dinner, you can't go wrong with their fish & chips.

Our 6 the visit yesterday, was great, service was fantastic as was the hot from the fryer! If you havent tried Cockney Kings in New Westminster what are you waiting for!?! _______________________ Our 5th visit, turned out to be not as stellar as the previous visits. The restaurant was freezing, most had their jacket or coats on while they ate. The thermostat read 60deg F. In addition the waitress, was not as we have experienced in our previous visits. Which made this visit not a nice experience at all! The food was as always.. excellent. This time I tried the steak and kidney pie! My wife had the two piece combo fish and chips. Both were delicious! Our 2nd visit today was as good as the first! A sign of a good restaurant - consistency. We look forward to our third visit. This was our first visit to this fish and chip restaurant. The waitress was very polite friendly, and professional. The food that we ordered took a little time to come our table, but this is to be expected because the fish and chips are both freshly fried. The batter on the fish was perfect it was cooked well and the batter surrounded the fish, unlike some restaurants where you have lots of batter with a little piece of fish inside. This wasnt the case here. The chips appeared to be the frozen type.. and not like other restaurants where they serve hand-cut chips. The price was perhaps a little bit higher than other fish and chip restaurants, however it is a good value. All in all it was an enjoyable experience. Parking: Easy and free parking If you havent already tried the Steak and Kidney pie. Its a traditional British favorite! Cockney Kings does have a good pie!!

We were visiting New Westminster from the island and had heard so much about Cockneys Fish and Chips from friends who insisted it was the best in the area. Our group was excited to catch up over what we expected would be a great meal. Upon arrival, we realized the place was quite busy, so we put our name on the waitlist and settled in to wait, standing near the front entrance. About 10 minutes into our wait, a shocking incident unfolded. As a short, stocky man and what appeared to be his partner were called for their table, a senior gentleman accidentally got in his way. What happened next was disturbing: the man aggressively threw the elderly gentleman to the ground. Everyone around, including us, was in complete shock and disbelief. Despite this horrifying assault, the man casually went to his table and sat down as if nothing had happened. One of the servers saw the incident and appeared to inform what seemed to be the kitchen manager. We watched as the manager approached the man who had just assaulted a senior. To our disbelief, after what appeared to be a brief conversation, the abuser was not asked to leave or face any repercussions. Instead, he was allowed to stay and was even served shortly afterward as if the assault hadn t happened The atmosphere shifted dramatically, and our entire group felt deeply unsettled. We were horrified that a restaurant would allow an abuser to continue dining as if nothing had occurred, despite numerous witnesses. As older individuals ourselves, we felt scared and unsafe, leading us to leave and find somewhere else to eat. This was an alarming experience and a clear failure in management. The police should have been called, and the man should have been removed immediately. Allowing someone who physically assaulted a senior to remain was a disgrace. It was beyond unsettling and unacceptable. I will never return. This happened on Nov 2 around 7pm.
The homemade tartar sauce is in a class of its own! Highly recommend the fish tacos!
The best Fish and Chips in town
Used to be awesome fish and chips. Things changed - fries are too overfried. Fish is three quarters full of batter and oily, plus i find mostly Caucasian customers sitting around, and boy oh boy - the looks you get when you walk in as a non Caucasian is disgusting.

So disappointed...our first visit 4 weeks ago was great! We eat out 3 or 4 times a week, once a week at a fish & chip restaurant. This was our third time at Cockney Kings in New West. Everything was awful! Table was sticky, waitress was out of sight most of the time, other server delivered our food...food order was wrong. Two, 2 piece cod dinners, 2 soft drinks. How hard is that? We got 1 piece of fish, no fries, no drinks second piece of fish was delivered 5 minutes later on little plates with fries. Drinks came after we finished eating. Second pieces of fish were a bit soggy maybe under done, I sent mine back. In three weeks we had; *one excellent experience *one so-so experience *one terrible experience Get more staff! Train them to be efficient not friends with the entire room! ...just need good service & good food. Very busy location.

Im from England. I love fish & chips there, and I love them here! The difference? Generally speaking the chips here are a bit thinner than most of the chippies I know. But they are still great here and better than some back home. The fish is perfect. Light batter- so for me way better than many heavy batters served in the UK. Service is great, prices are reasonable. Cockney Kings get it
Staff as always are friendly. The restaurant was very accommodating for my mothers restrictive diet. Food was awesome Dietary restrictions: They replaced the battered fish with grilled fish to accommodate a gluten free diet.

Tartare sauce was bitter and horrible and made the fish taste bad. Mushy peas were terrible with firm peas, probably werent soaked long enough. The batter on the fish wasnt crisp, just on the soggy side. This place dropped their their standards and was not as good as they used to be. Think Ill just make my own fish and chips at home.
WOW! I love the Cockney Kings Seafood Chowder. We both had the 1 piece halibut meal, very good. Good sized price of halibut, it tastes way better than the sliver - sliced! Even the buns were fresh and tasty. Natasha waited on us, and was quick, efficient and friendly. The meals were really tasty, the value was very good and the service was great! Get on down! July 2023 - just finished my last steak and onion pie. These have to be the best in greater Vancouver! Going to have to rush down for more. I like to enjoy the halibut and fries in the restaurant, and then take a few of the frozen meat pies home. I have to say, try the pie! October 2024 same great food and the same great people and service. 4 went, and all had the small plate halibut. Very good prices, along with the food. As always I take home a couple of meat pies. Treat yourself! Parking: Sparks are available right at the front door.

Got the 17.95 bottomless fish and chips deal on from Mondays to Wednesdays. Great value, they gave me 3 pieces off the bat, but the fish was so greasy that I didnt ask for any refills, so keep that in mind if youre weighing this against any other menu items! Loved the bottomless fries and soda though. All in all, highly recommend

It was an absolute pleasure to visit Cockney Kings. I had Cod and Chips and ordered Halibut and Chips shortly after with a pint of Guinness that I also had for the very first time. There was an immense abundance of Tartar Sauce and Ketchup. The staff were very hospitable and were quick to serve many orders, regardless, they do give you their full attention and make you feel welcome. It is a cozy space in New Westminster and is located at a good location. I will be giving them more visits because the Cod and Halibut were very delicious.
Worth the money as the portions are big. There are small plate portions as well.

Went to the New Westminster location for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Atmosphere is relaxed and laid-back, and we appreciated that there was no loud music or sports TV blaring, as there is in so many other eateries. The service was quick and friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised by the ample portion sizes. And the price, including the tip, was very reasonable. We will definitely go back.

Good Fish& Homemade Chips..I had my own water bottle..She seemed upset about this..But I did ask for cold water & lemon,which she brought to me..I asked her what she recommended..or what she liked since this was my first time there.. She said I dont know .I ordered the 1piece cod Fish& chips&3 prawn add on cause I wasnt sure of their menu.. She brought me my food .. She didnt check to see if I liked it. She only came back to get me to pay,when I was 3/4 done my food.. The couple next to me,was only having drinks& were there before me . They werent rushed out. I asked for a container( from another waitress)& finished my food in my car.. I guess she only wants drink orders ,cause its easier for tips.. Im here vacationing from Saskatoon Sask.. Not a great service experience. Food great. I will order take out next time or get a different waitress & speak with the manager,I have her name on my receipt..Lots of staff for take out orders,the place was half packed,so no need to rush me out ,when Im not done eating..

Terrible service! Waited for a table for over an hour while they continually let other ppl in ahead of us. When I brought it to their attention they just said sorry and did it again 5 min later. There were over 10 staff working but they never came by to check how we were doing or offered to top up water etc. Will not be going back to this location ever.

The first round of fish and chips was great the battery wasn t too thick nice and crispy.However we got another round the batter was thick and very greasy,the fries were under cooked and soft.We got their before 7:30 and over heard them telling customers they would be turning the deep fryer off at 8:00.Should have told customers about this earlier if they re doing all you can eat and being rushed now.Also the AC was broken I don t recommend eatting inside way too hot.

First time trying this fish and chips place. Top notched customer service and every order is freshly battered and well seasoned. Portion is right on for us, or you can order all you can eat deal if you are a big eater. Highly recommended.
Very sweet halibut, light batter, good crispy chips
Service was swift and kind. Halibut was firm, meaty and good, shrimp was sweet and good. Oysters were large but was not something I would order again.

2024.07 The service was very good. This time I ordered halibut fish and chips. One portion was shared by 2 people. The store took the initiative to divide it into 2 plates for us, which was very considerate. The poutine is also delicious, I will eat it again next time!

New west location last nite. All u can eat. Super busy. Definitely changed servers as the girl we had was very distracted. My hubby got w pieces of fish, ordered q more, she forgot after 15 minutes we asked for two more, she came back and asked 2 more? Then brought 3! Her memory is definitely not her strong point. My mom and I both ordered meals which cone with a roll...didnt bring it to either of us, I asked her about it, she said oh yea... then brought just myself a roll. Server is not aware of menu. This has always been a go to place...cone on guys! Need to hire better people or train them better! I gave 5 stars for everything brgore but had to drop it down...
Excellent service, my salmon was unbelievable and the halibut was superb. Only complaint is that my *Haddock* wouldn t stay down no matter how hard I tried it might sound silly, but it kept sliding out. It tasted great though. 10/10 would recommend!

They really go the extra mile. I ordered the 2 piece cod dinner. When it came the server apologized that the pieces of fish were a little small so, instead of 2 pieces, there were 4 the size of what I would expect was a size served anywhere else!

One of the best fish and chips places around. This has been a family staple for us for a while, food is consistently good and decent prices as well. The only thing I will say is portion sizes are considerably bigger if you eat in than take out in my opinion.

Love it here. Was introduced by a friend who envied me for a birthday. Ive always had the all you can eat. Really large pieces of fish and really great fries! Its always busy, I think seating is first come first serve. Staff are super friendly and usually super busy so might have a bit of a wait but its most deffinately worth it. Located in Colubia Square plaza which is usually busy too but youll find parking somewhere!
Great little fish and chip shop. Although price has risen so I dont enjoy paying 30 bucks for 2 piece of halibut with fries the quality was good and crispness was excellent

The food is awesome, the portion is vary.. if you re lucky you will get big fish filet otherwise you will get small portion. The service is quick and the staff are friendly. The restaurant very clean. I recommend Haddock dinner. They have all you can eat on some weekdays.
Family loved the fish. I had a chicken burger and the bun was sub-par. Moral of the story... if you go to a restaurant, buy what they specialize in. FISH not burgers for this restaurant. Kids meals are a great value... more food that my wifes 1 pcs fish.

Amazing all you can eat fish and chips for only $16.95 per person with all you can drink soda included on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays! Not only is the price unbeatable, but the fried pollock tastes fresh and delicious with crisp crust on the outside and moist flaky fish meat inside. You can even customize the way your fish is cooked if you don t like it deep fried with batter. They offer your fish steamed, grilled, or deep fried with no batter as well! The service is fantastic, they truly deliver on their ayce vision, and the chips are real chips, that is, thick cut potatoes fried to perfection. Condiments include malted and white vinegar, tartar sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper. The best deal ever for $16.95, and it s ayce and AYCD, and the food was just as good as ordering a la carte fish and chips from a speciality fish and chip shop. Thank you for such a great dining experience:)

Little restaurant with superb service and portion. Went for their all you can eat pollack and chips, it was so large I am surprised! Comes with bottomless soft drink. Their tartar sauce was very nice and smooth with the fish. :) I will definitely come again! Lovely young waitress is always smiling and attentive to your needs. Highly recommend!
Went in for the All you can eat fish n chips. Was a good experience, each piece of fish was much bigger than I expected. Couldnt go past 3 pieces because it is deep fried and quite oily, I did feel that the oil couldve probably been drained out better. But they did deliver as promised! My advice is, dont waste much of ur appetite on the fries as you dont have to finish the fries before ordering more fish.

[Note: the restaurants reply below assumed that I went on a holiday, but my visit was on a Tuesday and non-holiday. Nevertheless, I appreciate their attention.] Not first come first serve; be warned of their unreasonable and disrespectful long wait due to poor order fulfillment process. Placed a small order through food app which showed food would be ready in 5-15 min. Went to the restaurant after 20 min. Busy restaurant, waited 10 min standing right in front of the counter, no eye contact or acknowledgement, despite of multiple staff nearby. Finally, I was told they only make the order *after* the customer arrives and informs them. How is this reasonable? Whats the point of ordering ahead then? So, my order was finally clocked in 30 min *after* they first received it in their system. After that, as I waited for my food, I saw several customers arrive later than me, order on the spot, and get their orders and leave. I also saw two delivery drivers come in and get their orders within 5 minutes. I was very puzzled. I waited another 25 minutes before getting my food -- my total wait time was 55 min and during the wait, there was no update and no apology whatsoever. I am okay with the long wait if a restaurant tries to serve all customers fairly and reasonably, but not here. By the way, the fish and fries were soaked in oil -- old-tasting oil. What a terrible experience!

They have AYCE fish and chips on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays (literally what else do you need to know). Pollock and fries for AYCE and the pieces are huge. 5 min walk from new west SkyTrain station and you can always take a walk around the area after you stuffed yourself with fish! Go inhale omega 3 and vitamin B12

Weve been coming here almost every week, their fish is always nice and moist, never disappointed so far! You can ask to grill the fish and its my favourite. Parking: Its a part of the small mall, a lot of free parking spaces. Wheelchair accessibility: Especially summer, their patio space can be directly accessed from the street, which is convenient for walkers and wheelchairs. Indoor space is accessible, but limited tables.

I had a serious craving for some all-you-can-eat fish and chips while we were staying in Surrey. We dont have Cockney Kings in Alberta so I was curious to give this place a try, and it did not disappoint. We went on a Monday, which is one of their three AYCE nights (a lot of fish restaurants only offer this on Tuesday so that was nice). Their AYCE was also only $16.95 at the time we went, which is a great price. We had ordered and were chowing down within maybe five minutes of sitting down. The fish and fries were hot, fresh, and delicious. The server we had was also very friendly and attentive to all our needs. The only negative for me is that the restaurant was quite smoky inside from everything being cooked in their open-style kitchen; it would be good if they could crack a few windows or something. Recommend eating in as fish and chips tastes better when its hot and ready to eat straight away, with malt vinegar on the chips and tartar sauce on the side.
The lightest and crispiest batter! Not soaking in oil. This is some of the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. I always make a stop here for the all you can eat whenever Im in Vancouver. The oysters are also really good!
Cant beat this homey spot for fish and chips. Theyre serving no-fuss, classic fish and chips at a value thats hard to find anywhere else in the lower mainland. Not sure about take out, but when you eat in the large coleslaw is big enough for a family for 4. Their weekday specials cant be beat. All you can eat Pollock nights are a cultural experience. A great spot for all ages. Bring your grandparents here for a good dinner, if they dont bring you first. Parking: As part of an outdoor shopping center, there is plenty of free parking. Kid-friendliness: Coloring sheets, and a casual environment that is welcoming to kids.
A decent British style fish and chips restaurant. The halibut is far and away the best choice of white fish for the fried fish.
I like this place. Ordered the small plate of halibut with chips, soup, and onion rings. I wonder why they do not have clam chowder in the menu which is typical of any fish&chips restaurant. Service was friendly and prompt. Location was good and has free parking. Price was okay, typical of a BC casual restaurant, how I wish they can make the fish portion a bit bigger. Chips were so much more than the fish (of course). Will definitely dine again.

The Fish and Chips were really tasty and I I enjoyed the restaurant in particular the birds / blokes signs on the toilets.
