Food is ok, but the way they treat their personal is disgusting, I know there is stress in every kitchen, but if they know they will have a lot of customers then they should hire more people instead of having 2 persons doing everything. Sad to see people being treated this way.

My husband and I have gone to many different German restaurants in search of the best. We both agree we dont need to search anymore. The food is delicious. They have chicken schnitzel and from what Ive tried, it is the closest to traditional pork schnitzel thin and crispy. They also have vegetarian and fish options as well.

Food is always good. Offers lots of gluten free options including wiener schnitzel. The owner is awesome. Great sense of humor and take pride in her restaurant and the food. We frequent the restaurant often and always leave happy and full of delicious food.

OK! Here is my take on restaurants and why I don t want to go or support my local businesses. This place is very convenient and parking is superb. No issues. My problem is, if I am going to spend money, food in the place should be enough to fill you up, and I should have to go home and look for something to eat. I ordered a salad. Cesars plate was small to begin with, a bit disappointed as it was a good salad, not enough to semi-fill you up. For my dinner, I ordered Bavarian chicken. Here is what I got. Take your baby finger in 2 pieces of carrots and one, yes, one piece of broccoli one flower. The potatoes were good. The chicken was flattened to the point that $27.00 could have gotten me chicken, broccoli, potatoes, at the grocery store for less. You know, I knew I was paying the rent. We were a party of 4 adults and a 5- year-old and 3-year-old well-behaved with no issues. But please give people food, not trying to be fancy with a German name, and people go home looking for food to fill you and they with eating at a restaurant, any restaurant. for that matter Will I return (NO)

Delicious and tasty, as expected; the Seasonal decorations are being added-to, so it is also a visual treat ! Cant wait to go back & try more, as we just did Schnitzel Tuesday last knight, given that was the Special.

Mira is a consummate host with a warm and inviting personality. Classic German dishes. Charming room with lovely light. Apfel strudel and chocolate mousse are highly recommended.

Best authentic German food!! With both my parents being from Germany, all I ate while living at home was my moms homemade German cooking. Even after I moved out of my parents house, I would look so forward to going home and having my moms cooking. The Tannenbaum Restaurant is my new home. My parents are no longer with us, so the family goes to this restaurant at least once a month. The owner previously owned another German restaurant in New Westminster, but the people who now run it know nothing about German food. We are thrilled to have found that she opened this new place. If you are a fan of authentic German food, this is the place. You will not be disappointed. Vegetarian options: You can check their menu online. Parking: Depending on the day or time of day, the parking lot can get full, but we always find parking. There is also paid street parking. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome. We take my 10 month great niece there all the time. She loves the food!! The owner always goes out of her way to make her feel welcome. There are high chairs. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor easy accessible from the parking lot, no stairs.

We had an amazing experience at the German restaurant The Tannenbaum! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, who is very attentive and makes sure all customers feel at home. The dishes are true delights, all prepared with great care. I especially want to highlight the Apfelstrudel and the Black Forest cake desserts that are a true spectacle! The atmosphere is cozy and family-friendly, perfect for a relaxed meal. I highly recommend it and will definitely return to enjoy more of this wonderful German cuisine!

New business that I guess doesnt want new customers. Im a proffesional, and eat out quite a bit. I kindly asked if I could use the washroom quick, and was going to check out the new restaurant, and the lady said no, gave me smug look, locked the door in my face, and walked away. I used to come to this location for mucho burrito all the time back in the day, but I wont be coming back to try this place.

Fantastic restaurant

We sat on the patio, a public area with nice people watching activity and a view of the surrounding buildings. The potato pancakes were basically pure garlic, the chicken was not drizzled with sauce, very dry. The schnitzel and spatzle were OK. The service was very slow, no refill for the water made it difficult to eat the food which all tasted like deep fryer fish. High priced for what is offered.

This was the best German food Ive had in the area ever I recommend making a reservation cause they are bussssy (AS THEY SHOULD BE). The service was a little slow but it was busy and there was always a server within sight I could have flagged down easily if I needed help, I never felt abandoned Cant wait to be back just like oma used to make

Based on review photos I expected there to be more toppings. I paid $6 for the mini shrimp to be added and got about 8 on my schnitzel. Felt very pricey. My boyfriend also got little to no sauce, which he was looking forward to. Schnitzel was good though.

I love the name and the idea of this family owned schnitzel restaurant. Unfortunately it took over an hour to get food that was not worth the wait. The spatzle was flavourless and inconsistent in cook and texture. The schnitzel was also lacking flavour, probably because it wasn t fried long enough to for browning. The price point for the wait time, food, and lack of service left me unsatisfied and wasn t worth it in my opinion.

After reading the reviews we decided to give the Tannenbaum a try. Compared to the Bavaria House, the restaurant felt open and modern. But it was missing the rustic old world charm that makes dining at the Bavaria House such a treat. The food was good, but not spectacular. The schnitzel was very thin and the spätzle quite salty for our tastes.

100% recommend... We ate here tonight and it was a fantastic meal. Got to try 3 meats with the platter and they were all quite nice especially with the gravy and spatzel. The rouladen was delectable. Its been a long time since we have had German food so it was quite a reminder of what is so nice about it. Looking forward to going back again soon, will probably try something else on the menu just because its sure to be good. Even the bread is home made very nice. Very friendly wait staff and delicious beers on tap. Wife got the Black Forest cake which they make in house, everything was just right. Parking: Big parking lot but busy

Great food. This is my first time trying out authentic German cuisine. Heringssalat is indeed bright as per menu description and the herring very tender. The entire dish is very refreshing. The Tannenbaum platter is delicious. The spatzle, which I believe is fried in animal fat, tastes amazing. The schnitzel is the best I have tasted. It is super thin and hence has a perfect infusion of flavour and texture. I love how crispy it is. The rinderroulade is well seasoned and has a nice mix of flavours between the beef and filling, but I find the texture too flaky for me. Having vanilla ice cream accompanying apple strudel is an act of pure brilliance. So good. Thanks to this restaurant, I now know that I have been eating strudels wrong my entire life. Lastly, the service is excellent. I was able to order the apple strudel as dessert even though the kitchen was closing, and the food came out promptly. I enjoyed this meal very much, and would recommend it to anyone who would like to try authentic German cuisine. EDIT: came back for Schweinshaxe and Linsen soup. Schweinshaxe is only available on the weekends, and its a MUST ORDER. You have to see it to believe it.

I loved this place. Great tasting authentic German food. I got the platter and I couldnt decide what I liked more on it. Good sized portions for a good price. My biggest regret is that the meal was so filling I had no room to try the strudel or black forest cake. I will be going back.

Best German food Ive had since my grandmothers. I had the Schwarzwalder schnitzel and the girlfriend had the Bavarian chicken with a strudel for dessert. For starters we had the potato pancake and spätzle. Everything was so flavourful!

What a crazy contradiction of a restaurant. Wife and I went for dinner there tonight. The place is small and was half full. Two servers, a host, and what Im guessing was the owner were working the floor. Our server didnt introduce herself and seemed new (which is fine), but overall was fairly good. I felt bad for her as our appetizer was taking quite awhile and she kept looking anxiously at our table while we were waiting. She table touched after our appetizer and entrees to check on if we enjoyed them, but otherwise left us to enjoy our dinner in peace. The food was the strangest thing. Our appetizer (the baked camembert with fruit and cranberry jam) took almost thirty minutes to arrive but was absolutely stellar. It was the perfect size and the tart jam went well with the saltiness of the cheese. Our entrees were two Schwarzwalder (schnitzel with mushroom gravy) were good size, but they absolutely used canned mushrooms for an otherwise delicious gravy. If Im paying $30 for a meal, Im expecting at least fresh mushrooms in my mushroom gravy. Everything else about the meal was great. The potatoes and steamed veg were the perfect portion sizes and nicely seasoned, and the misses said the pickled cabbage was quite good. We finished with a decent slice of black forest cake, which was on the house as they were celebrating one year of being open (congratulations to them!). There were other nitpicks that I could go on about (microwaving the strudel and the jar of sauerkraut being the two glaring ones), but overall our experience was ok. At a hundred dollars for two people after tax and tip for a meal with no drinks or full price dessert though, I dont think Ill be going back.

We had dinner with friends here tonight and our meals were delicious! We had the pork hock, platter dinners, and schnitzels. The Camembert appy was super yummy, and chocolate mousse and Black Forest cake were excellent to end the evening. All of the food was wonderful and the service was great. The beer was also delicious! Would definitely come here again. The owner was also so friendly and played with our baby while we enjoyed our dessert. A great dinner experience from a family owned restaurant.

First trying this place. First impressions were it was clean, nice decor. Friendly greeting. I tried the veggie snitzel. It was really tasty. I was pleasantly surprised. The black forest cake was good. I wasnt a fan of the ceasar salad dressing. Service was a bit slow as there was only one server. All around first experience. I would go again.

A nice Bavarian restaurant in New West to go to for lunch.

The food was authentic, well priced, and the portions were plenty. Mira is wonderful and brings a true gasthaus feel to the restaurant. We had a large family (8) gathering, and we all enjoyed our meals and the service!

The server was friendly though very busy with a lot of tables. We had to wait about 15 minutes to order a coffee and a beer though water was served right away. The food was served warm and there was not much gravy or mushrooms on the schnitzel. The pork hock was served with the skin on which had an unpleasant smell, wasn t crispy and not as succulent as one would expect for a slow cooked meat. Overall, not worth the price we paid.

Friends and I dined there for the first time and it was a wonderful experience. The staff are kind and prompt and the food was fresh and delicious. We will be back and be sure to tell our friends about this restaurant.

It was busy but service was still quite attentive considering they only had 1 server. The small lunch menu offered good & economical options. We loved the Garnelen Croissant (shrimp croissant) ! Ceaser salad was not creamy nor garlicky and a bit too sweet. There s room for improvement IMO. Jaegerpfanne: We appreciated the el dente of spatzel (noodles), the viscosity of mushroom sauce was just right. The pork tenderloin tho could be more tender. However, the taste of the entire plate was good.

I ordered delivery but I have been to the restaurant as well. Tonight I received a schnitzel that was very large, with veg and spazzle. So delicious. It arrived warm and was enough for two meals. Yum. Parking: Lots of parking close by

Unfortunately I feel they should utilize another waitress. Packed house but even tho its a small dining room the service could still be better. Shes an amazingly nice and friendly woman who waited on us (which seems like the owner but not sure). Due to the lack of extra help, ther wait time to get drinks or refills was longer than wanted. She also made a mistake and made my gin martini out of tequila which definitely made me feel sick. I hate tequila. But it was a genuine mistake in which I feel wouldnt have happened if she had less on her plate. :) cannot wait to go back cause the food made me feel like I was back home.

We have been here a few times and have always had an excellent experience. The service is always top notch; the second time we went there Mira remembered us and greeted us warmly. The food is fantastic. The schnitzel is the best we have had in a long time. I got the Schwarzwalder which comes with a delicious mushroom gravy. We also got the chocolate mouse and it is decadent and can not be missed. We will definitely be coming back again.

My boyfriend and I went to Tannenbaum s for the first time, where we were warmly greeted by the owner and seated immediately. The food was absolutely amazing and arrived hot. Very impressive ! We requested Spatzel instead of potatoes, and without a doubt, it was the best we have ever had! Tannenbaum s food is not only delicious, (Pork Hock and Schnitzel with gravy and mushrooms.) the portions are very generous and prices are exceptionally reasonable! Well worth what you pay and more. We ended our dinner with Black Forest Cake. Fabulous!!!! The young gentleman that was assisting, was great at his job, pleasant and took pride in his duties! When we had completed our dinner, the owner came to check on us and asked if we enjoyed it. Well that was a BIG YES! All and all, I highly recommend Tannenbaum s. The ambience is relaxing and pleasant, as the tables are situated for privacy. If you want a relaxing dinner with great food, I highly recommend Tannenbaum s! So awesome to have such a high quality German/Bavarian Restaurant in New West! ; )

Made a reservation for a Saturday night and preordered the Schweinshaxe (pork hock). It was delectable, and the portions were massive (we had plenty left over for lunch the next day).The service was phenomenal as well. Will definitely be returning!

Very much enjoyed my dinner. The schnitzel was delicious, and especially the pickled beets that came with it. The atmosphere and venue was wonderful as it is very airy with large windows and the tables were set nicely with linen tablecloths. Service was very friendly!

We absolutely loved it. Wiener schnitzel and Rinds rouladen as mains, cheese cake and äpfelstrudel for dessert. Nice ambience and super staff, you dont want to miss this place. It is busy so better make a reservation.

Best german food I ve had! Owner is amazing

Overall, I enjoyed the food - I ordered the Tannenbaum Platter which was delicious. I did want to try the Schweine Haxe, but unfortunately, it had to be ordered ahead of time. However, the service wasnt great. Despite having a reservation, my party and I were skipped in line. The ladies who served us were nice and polite, but it was frustrating to be seated after people who arrived later than us. Additionally, the food took a while to arrive at our table. Lastly, the dessert selection wasnt great. There were four options, but I only found one to be decent cheesecake - none of them was fantastic. Overall, I would recommend The Tannenbaum Restaurant for the food, but keep in mind that the service may not be as efficient as you would hope.

Servings are small for what you pay for, our waitress was patient but the restaurant needs to get organized (opened too soon?) but the taste is great. Hopefully the portions improve because it was slim pickings & seemed like they were trying to cut cost with the portion sizes / the amount of bread they brought out was almost offensive lol

We made a reservation for 6:30, got there fifteen minutes early and while they had tables empty, they seated us at the bar to let another table finish up in order to seat us there (which I thought was a bit weird but anyways). Breakdown of review (if you dont want to go through the entire list): poor service in terms of wait times and getting your food, food price doesnt seem to match what you get on your plate, and restaurant could have been overwhelmed since its new and didnt expect so many customers. The food tasted good, but I dont think Ill be going back. Pros: - food was good. I originally ordered the veggie German dumplings but halfway through waiting after ordering, they said they didnt have them so I ordered the veggie schnitzel instead. My partner ordered the bratwurst plate. Cons: - it took almost an hour for us to get our food. This is not an exaggeration. We decided that if it got to exactly 60 minutes, we would leave; luckily it came just before that. - many other diners who were there before us waited a long time for their food too. - our plates cost $20-25. As another reviewer said, with the price per plate being that much, I was expecting more food on the plate but I was full after eating it, I just dont think it needs to be $20. My partner said the sausage on his plate was good and definitely homemade but everything else on the plate was simple enough (steamed veggies, potatoes, red cabbage, sauerkraut) that we still dont understand why it would cost $25. The potatoes were also slightly undercooked. - Im not sure of the ventilation in this restaurant, but at one point, they were cooking something in the back and my eyes started burning because it got very smoky. I was really hoping theyd open the door or a window but that didnt happen. - they only had one waitress helping an entire packed restaurant, which was crazy. She was a true champ (I think her name was Melody) and I think they definitely need to hire more staff because it was insane. - another reviewer said maybe they opened too early- its possible. I dont think they anticipated that the restaurant would be so busy on a Sunday night, and I think the restaurant was overwhelmed. - After forty minutes of not getting food, we were given some bread as well, like the other reviewers. It was good but seemed more like something given to placate us after waiting for so long.

I don t have the words to describe my experience with this restaurant! The food was absolutely fantastic! (Except I don t really like carrots) I came on Monday evening and was seated right away. (I suggest a reservation because the place fills up quickly) the service was friendly, even funny and quite entertaining. For those complaining about wait times, good fresh food does take time and everything in made from scratch. That being said, our wait time was just enough to enjoy our appetizers with drinks and conversation, if you want food right away, McDonald s is nearby. We ordered the Schnitzel with mushroom gravy with the Camembert for the appy. My goodness, I gobbled that up embarrassingly fast and ordered cheesecake for dessert. The cheesecake was surprisingly light and fluffy and I ate that too! We paid and left content and full although it was just enough to leave us wanting more. I obsessed about the food and couldn t wait to go again so here I sit on Saturday with yet another full tummy. And until next time, I will wait to visit again!

Good to have again familiar food from the original cooks from Bavarian House. When the plate arrived it brought back memories of the dishes we had on 6th st. 630 pm full and busy but we sat at the bar for our meal. Schnitzel came out hot and had crispy coating.

We just spent a couple of hours at the Tannenbaum with friends for lunch. If you like authentic German food, this is the place for you. We made a reservation, but due the the early hour - ll:30 am we had the restaurant to ourselves. Mira, the owner and chef extraordinaire, was very friendly and entertaining. Everything is home made including desserts. Everything was delicious. Apparently Mira owned the Bavarian House before this place. Anyone who frequented that restaurant should give this new one a try. We will go for dinner next time. Make a reservation as it gets busy in the evening. Parking: In Columbia Square, so unlimited parking available at no cost. Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible as there are no steps and lots of room to navigate around tables.

Man I would rate this 6 out of 5 if I could. Everything was delicious. The food came quick and the service was great. I had the Jagerpfanne for lunch. I really like how the spatzel was crispy. The sauce was delicious and well made and the mushrooms were cooked to perfection. The pork tenderloin did not disappoint.

Since the change of ownership, Baberia Haus is no longer what it used to be. Great to see Mira opening this restaurant and serving up the great food that she used to. Ive been waiting for a chance to hit this spot and did for lunch today. It was wonderful and I highly recommend it.

I tried to make reservations and they said theyd put me on hold, which consisted of putting the phone on the counter while the kitchen yelled at each other or something. I sat and listened while they just forgot about me and I just had to sit and listen to incoherent noise for a long time. I didnt get to make reservations and I dont know how Im supposed to eat food there. I phoned back a while later and the phone was still off the hook because they werent even answering their phone anymore. I guess ill have to cook for myself again and put my restaurant money into real estate investing :(

Was served flat beer from the tap, when I mentioned this to the server she offered a different beer which I accepted. However when she returned she said that the owner poured a beer and he had said there was no way it was flat. I was given another glass of the same beer and It was still flat, I didnt want to make too much of a fuss with my dining companions and just kept it. but for $9 the beer shouldnt be flat. I did notice at one point the server was scooping out foam from a separate mug and was distributing the foam amongst the mugs we were being served from. You would never have to do that if the beer was coming out of the tap properly. As others mentioned by other reviewers the portions are quite small. I ordered the Tannenbaum Platter which is $35, my friend ordered the same but we were told they had run out of Rouladen so only one of us would get one and the other would get a second sausage, which is fine but a single Rouladen is quite a bit more substantial than a single sausage, given that they had run out they could have compensated with something else as well, not to mention the portion of Spätzle was laughably small. Fortunately some of my companions didnt finish their food and offered their leftovers so I didnt leave hungry.

A super cute and welcoming restaurant. The portions of food are very well served and taste great. Its imperative to make a reservation, though - since the restaurant is always full at dinnertime. Friendly staff and the owner gave us a really good time. 10/10 totally recommend.

The food was excellent definitely 5 stars. I personally recommend the Tannenbaum platter it gives you a taste of a number of their entrees. The only issue is that the place is VERY POPULAR so ensure you make a reservation and be prepared to wait as I believe the place is new and was having some growing pains with staffing given how popular it is. I highly recommend it and we will definitely be returning.

Delicious German food. Was really needed after The Old Bavaria House got so bad. Definitely coming back. I wish the place was a little cozier, lower ceilings some plants or room dividers to dampen the sound.

Had my first meal at The Tannenbaum Restaurant with a good friend and I ve got to say it was a perfect meal. The vegetarian schnitzel was great, the potatoes and veggies were perfectly cooked, including the asparagus which many restaurants fail at. The biggest surprise for me was that I actually enjoyed the red cabbage. I ve disliked cabbage all my life but this was a little sweet and tangy and delicious. Not pictured the tasty af apple strudel I had for dessert that didn t last long enough for me to photograph. With the variety of vegetarian options on the menu I ll definitely be back again. And soon. Vegetarian options: 1 of the 3 salads, 3 of the 4 appetizers, 5 of the 6 side orders are vegetarian. They also have 3 specific vegetarian meals called out in a separate section.

We were the first customers on opening day, the restaurant has a very simple and clean look. The food was so delicious and definitely filled you tummy. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the fresh ingredients they use. I think having a reservation is a good idea. Parking: Lots of spots to park in the square

Only just found out about The Tannenbaum, and was very impressed. Make a reservation, it can be quite busy. The owner Mira, is very hands on and visited all the tables the evening we went. Two in our group had the schnitzel and were impressed, I had the Forellen Filet (Trout) and it was prepared perfectly. Had my eye on the combination platter, but looked like a lot, Will definitely return with a bigger appetite.

We had a great time at the Tannenbaum. We re German, so we had high expectations for the food. The rouladen was absolutely amazing. The bratwurst tasted just like back in Germany, which is incredibly hard to find here. We had great service and met the owner, who was very friendly and has been in the service industry for a long time. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and reasonable prices. Stop reading reviews and just go!

Had some Schnitzel with the black forest mushroom gravy. It was really good. The portion was large and filling. Since its close to home, Ill be back for sure.

Absolutely delicious. Read reviews, had to try myself. Could literally drink the mushroom sauce. Yes please!! We ordered the the Tannenbaum platter and the HOLSTEINER schnitzel so we could try almost everything. We were not disappointed! We started with the spaeztle with mushroom sauce and some drinks, and finished with our delicious entrees. Will come back and cant wait!!

Best German food in new west and the greater Vancouver area. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area or passing through to give it a try.

Dined here with a friend. Nice experience, friendly owner. Small place so I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Sunday night at 6 was a full house but it died down around 7ish. I ordered the SCHWARZWALDER with a side of Spatzel. Traditional schnitzel topped with our decadent black forest mushroom gravy. Served with pan-fried potatoes and vegetables. It was delish but I wished it had more mushroom gravy.

The service was good and the rouladen was just like how my Oma makes it

The Missus and I along with some of the family renegades tried the Tannenbaum on a Saturday evening. We had reservations but still had to wait for an additional 15 minutes for the tables to vacate. The restaurant was very short staffed and the servers were running about looking very stressed. Due to the high ceiling, the atmosphere for the dining area was not very quiet. We found the food was just okay and nothing spectacular. Maybe we have been spoiled with the schnitzels we had in Austria. For the price paid, we thought the food was on the skimpy side. We later realized our server looked familiar and remembered her from the Bavaria House on 6th Street in New West.

Stopped by on a whim, and was very happy with both the food, beer and service. Will definitely be back.

The dining room is spacious, bright and airy - very comfortable. We went on a Friday for late dinner. By the time we got there, two large parties were in full swing. The place was very lively from the wine-fueled conversation. Unfortunately the exposed tin roof that gave the place its airiness did nothing to dampen the sound. The gulasch did not have much of a kick as promised in the menu. But the texture, taste and tenderness of the beef in it were spot on. The rouladen and bratwurst were savoury without being too salty. The mushroom sauce on the schwarzwalder was creamy and smooth as advertised. We will be back to sample more from the menu. Parking: Part of a plaza mall, the restaurant has plenty of parking spaces. I went here for lunch with my wife and son. My wife had the shcnitzel sandwich while my son and I each had one of the pfanne dishes. Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the spatzel, which was fresh and very enjoyable. The service was excellent, and the dining room was well appointed. We will definitely be back.

This is a good new German restaurant. Offers a lot of good choices with cuisine. As for decor, its somewhat new so needs a bit of improving. Nevertheless a good new restaurant.

The floor dining area is very spacious and nicely decorated. Tables are set nicely and there is a pleasant and open atmosphere . Our server and the one that sat us was a younger woman and she was very nice and receptive to our requests and any questions we might have had. She was very busy serving all the other tables as well so at the end of the dinner was a bit hard to get a hold of for the bill but she must have had a sixth sense as she came with the bill thereafter. There was another older server who briefly came and removed one of our plates but other than that we had no interaction with her. We kind of felt she was deliberately avoiding us as I dont think there was any eye contact at all. (Maybe being over sensitive? As we were the only Asians in the restaurant at the time- you decide..) Other than that the food 1 felt was delicious we started off with prawns in garlic butter herb sauce. These are very flavourful and cooked perfect, The beef rouladin was tart tender and full of flavor; the schnitzel was very thin.. thinner than I prefer but it wasnt over crusted and tasted good. The sausage I feel was the best. One of the better sausages I think Ive had so packed full of flavor and so delicious I saved it for the last few of my bites. The spaetzle seemed fresh and homemade this I cant verify as Im no expert but it seemed so. The accompanying sauce on the proteins was just the perfect amount and was good. My wife had the steelhead trout dish which i dont have much input to describe here. Last was the blackforest cake. Best one lve had in awhile. A few months back I had reviewed Old Bavaria Haus and their cake used to be good before they were under new management now its a store bought piece of **** yeah anyways. This is the cake from before which I missed. Beautiful soft cake pleasantly moist cherries, cold creamy whipped cream and all together the right sWeetness...heaven. so hard to find Good black forest cake. Wife had the cheesecake, which was light and delightful in its own rights but my mind cant get off of the blackforest. Definitely a very nice meal.

What an fantastic food and environment! My husband I both had the Schwarzwalder (traditional schnitzel) and it was such a good experience. The veggies are cooked perfectly, the schnitzel itself is huge and delicious, the gravy made my mouth water..I mean, perfect. You can t go wrong in that place. For desert my husband had the Black Forest Cake and he loved it and I had the chocolate mousse - fantastic :) Definitely will go back. Highly recommended.

We went for my parents 50th anniversary. The food was was fantastic...everything made by the owner in house right down to the black forest cake...delicious!!! Great service, nice atmosphere. Definitely going back!!! Food : 5/5

I wasn t a fan of schnitzel until I came to the Tannenbaum Restaurant. Food, service and atmosphere was inviting. Try the strudel for dessert I dare you!

Classy looking restaurant and they have a decent selection of foods on their menu. Food was decent but the pork knee seemed like the best choice. Chocolate mousse dessert was delicious but wasn t a fan of other desserts they had which lacked more flavor. Service was great! Parking: Parking outside the restaurant I saw had a 30 min limit so it s better to park closer to the grocery store for longer free parking as there s more spots.

Had lunch there. Had our dog with us and we were allowed to sit at the patio with our fur buddy. The hostess was very patient and kind to our dog. The lunch was delicious. Service was wonderful. Cant wait to go back and try their dinner menu .

I am seriously getting sick and tired of these wannabe German restaurants. Go to Jaggerhof in North Vancouver, that s only German restaurant worth mentioning. Old Bavaria or this restaurant gives you little thin schnitzel with handful of potatoes for 30$. Ridiculous

The schweine haxe was delish. Service good and friendly. Prices reasonable. Just wish they had a better selection of German beer on tap.

Food was delicious, the service from the owner was great! I was a bit disappointed that the decorations inside did not feel as if was inside a German restaurant and I can see how that would prove difficult as its mostly all windows with little wall space. What possibly could be done is fabric or something to soften it, give it some colour, perhaps something that represents Germany. Its lacking and I dont know if the space is the correct for this type of restaurant. The food definitely makes up for it but the experience of being in a German restaurant is lacking. I would return for the food for sure.

We went to The tannenbaum last night for dinner for the first time. It was a warm, sunny day, but unfortunately it was quite warm inside the restaurant. Not sure if AC was broken or there just wasnt any? Service was really great the whole night. The potato pancake appie was really good! My husband got the Tannenbaum platter which he loved. I got the the filet mignon which was a little disappointing. The steak was wrapped in bacon, which was not crispy but rather limp and soggy. While the steak was cooked medium rare as requested, it was a little tough and not as tender as filet mignon should be. The apple strudel dessert was amazing and I wouldnt be surprised if it is made in house. Overall good experience, but I hope they can do something about the AC.

I ran across this place recently and decided to give it a shot as I like to support new businesses. I was delighted to find that it was actually the previous owner of the Bavaria house, back when it was good. It feels as tho you are family, the staff is so friendly. The food is fantastic, I highly recommend the Schwarzwalder Shnitzel, and my boyfriend LOVES the Spätzle and the red cabbage! You definitely want to try this place!

Excellent homemade German specialties, even scratch made Black Forest cake! Traditional beers and drinks are served along with some nice wine selections. Vegetarian options: Nice veggie schnitzel. Salads and veggies are very good. Parking: Part of an open air mall complex, so lots of parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Access to the restaurant from the parking lot which is level with the entrance.

A friend and I wanted to try this place since we noticed it open and finally had a chance today to pop in for lunch. Though the lunch menu is smaller, everything on it looked fantastic! We ordered the Jagerpfanne and Zigoinerpfanne along with a side of sauerkraut and bratwurst. Lovely, simple and super comforting. The owner both served and cooked our meals and she was so welcoming and kind. Absolutely loved my experience and the decor is fantastic. Definitely dont get intimidated by the tablecloths and neatly placed utensils - this place is super comfy and I will definitely be coming back with more friends and family when I can!

We recently visited this new restaurant. We made a reservation and showed up on time. It was not busy but we waited several minutes before someone notices us. We ordered wine and our meals, a server brought a bread basket. This was a disappointment, three small pieces of stale bread. Our meals came vegetables warm but not hot. Desert was very small. Overall not a good experience it was barely ok wont be going back.

Took my German born mother and we had a wonderful time. Enjoyed authentic German schnitzel, spätzle, red cabbage and piping hot German apple strudel. Brought back many memories of my childhood. Extra bonus was that they were able to accommodate my mother s dietary restrictions including gluten free schnitzel. Thank you for the memorable evening. Food was pretty good, needed seasoning. I got the gluten free schnitzel and it was tasty, but the gravy was stingy and the potatoes were cold. Service was good, the server was really friendly, but they lost one star for serving a drink in a dirty glass that had food in it and needed to be replaced, and we werent comped or upgraded to make up for it. I would come back if I were in the area and wanted that type of food, but I wouldnt go out of my way.

This place was okay, the menu felt a little limited and a little pricey but that may be because Im not German. The staff were pretty good, lots of personality. They play YouTube videos of German singing on their big screen TV which looks good until the ads show up. May I suggest YouTube Premium so you dont have random ads? You can probably write it off as a business expense

Went there tonight with 3 others and I have to say the service and the food were excellent! Mira was very attentive and had us laughing a lot. That was the friendliest service I have seen in a long time and the prices were very reasonable. I will DEFINATELY to back again. Great job Mira!

The waitress was extremely friendly, and the meal was excellent. I wasn t familiar with German food (expected more pub style) but will definitely be coming back soon. I highly recommend the Shwarzwalder and spätzle.

Use to go to The Old Bavaria Haus up until a couple years ago, apparently the place was sold and it has completely gone down the toilet! The woman that worked there before it was sold, opened up a new Schnitzel place called The Tannenbaum, food is amazing, service is amazing and Mira the owner is amazing! Thanks for the new location Mira and well see you often!

I had a very pleasant surprise at this restaurant. The food was exceptional. I forgot to take pictures and we left nothing in the plates.

Honestly the best all around authentic German meal I have been able to find in a very long time. Everything was made to perfection. We were a party of 16 and our server got everyones meal correct by memory only! Everything tasted as it should! Hot fresh and delicious.

We were here for a family dinner. Made a reservation and told them my mom was in a wheelchair and they it all set-up when we arrived. Recommend eating here and will come back in the future. Our server was good (she may have been the owner) and so was the individual that bussed our table. Food was good but price a little on the high side. Most of us ordered the Schwarzwalder, one ordered the Zigeuner, one ordered the plain Wiener Schnitzel, one orderd the gluten free schnitzel and someone ordered the Kasespätzle. It was good but most of us found the schnitzel was pounded too thin and a little on the tough side. My mother is German and when she used to make it was a little thicker and not tough. My wife is allergic to gluten free and ordered the gluten free schnitzel which was really good. Her schnitzel was a little thicker and very tender unlike ours. It was the same with the plain schnitzel. Most of us substituted the potatoes for spaetzle. We all felt that they were not very generous with the spaetzle and potatoes could give more. We have gone to other German restaurants and they are more generous. 2 of us ordered the cheesecake which was very good. Also wish they had a better selection of draft German beers. Like to see a dark one Dietary restrictions: Gluten free schnitzel was very good. Actually it was better than the regular schnitzels the rest of had Parking: Lots as it is in a shopping center. Too many 30 min parking spots in front of banks however especially for a Sunday evening Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access for wheelchair and accommodating. Shopping center parking lot doesnt have a lot of handicap spots and ramps

We ve been wanting to try this place since it opened, as we re both fans of German cuisine. We finally went last night with another couple. It did not disappoint! Everything was excellent: the various schnitzels, rouladen, bratwurst, and the See Ya Later Pino Noir paired wonderfully with all the dishes. Then, the Black Forest cake was perfection. The owner, Mira, served us and she was a hoot. We ll definitely be back!

Unbelievable food!

Half the restaurant was empty. But they only had room for me at the bar which looked decrepit. Its too bad as Im on vacation and was looking forward to trying some German food. Waste of time.

Came here for a post-haircut lunch after a friend recommended me this place. I ordered the Jaegerpfanne and the potatoes, where both dishes are delicious and filling, the spaetzle is al dente, and the potatoes arent too salty. I agree with everyone who brought up the attentive and friendly service. In my case as someone trying to reach CEFR A2 in German, it was the server-cook switching to German for the rest of my visit after I successfully ordered my food in German...and confirmed (in German, of course) that I can speak a bit of the language. I also like how the vibe resembles a German grandparents house rather than a stereotypically Bavarian one, be it the tableware, the kitschy decor, or (especially) the schlager playing in the background. Cant wait for my next visit. Would love to try their dinner items, dessert, or both.

This place was such a treat and everything Bavaria Haus used to be before the new ownership. If youre craving a schnitzel make this your first stop, and dont skip the apple strudel.
