my group of 15 had dinner there last night, everyone said their meal was very good. I know my chicken souvlaki plate was excellent. Service was great as well.

i called ahead today to ask when last call is. they told me that last call was 8:30pm. i arrived at 8:30pm and was told the kitchen was closed. i was very hungry and i dont like being lied to. im never coming to this place again.

They are pushing to sign receipts for Uber Drivers, though this is illegal.

This place is great. I ordered the lamb shoulder and calamari appetizer, and both were great. The lamb shoulder was cooked perfectly and was fall off the bone tender. The lamb shoulder was also well seasoned and flavourful. The calamari was good too. I really enjoyed the meal I had here and will continue coming here in the future.

A Taste of Greece, Right Here!

Food was ok. Service was good, I truly feel bad for the servers there.. the owner isn t afraid to yell and degrade them infront of customers . Maybe the owner should take a course for anger management and learn how to respect his staff 10/10 would not recommend.

Ive usually had a good time here, but I noticed one of the mains girls that are usually working suddenly isnt there anymore and Im not sure why! Its too bad.

Horrible food, had even talked to the manager who wouldn t do anything. He said I had to drive all the way back to try and prove it. Eaten here a bunch of times and am very disappointed in how bad the food was and the manger customer service. He just wants to keep arguing. Shouldn t be in charge of running anything Stay away as they haven t gotten so bad the last few months. Don t waste your time or money.

Ordered take-out this lunchtime. Specifically went there in person for two skewers of lamb souvlaki which I have ordered several times on uber eats in the past year and love. I got home to discover they had prepared two skewers of chicken souvlaki. Great restaurant but need to be careful with order-taking as it is not always possible for customer to travel back to exchange

Ordered the platter for two this evening, had ordered once before and it was great! Tonight was a different story! Both the Greek salad and lamb containers were only half full (and forget about getting any olives in the salad), calamari was over cooked, 1 potatoe, but an abundance of rice. Container wasnt sealed properly, so oil/juice all over the other containers. Food arrived cold. There is a plethora of Greek restuarants in New West, skip this one and try another.

A very good Greek restaurant

My 97 year old friend and I have been dining here together almost on a monthly basis for a few years now. We both think the food is delicious and we find the servers to be quite delightful. We highly recommend the two skewer chicken souvlaki plate. You wont be disappointed. If you dont have a big appetite youll be able to enjoy leftovers! The calamari is pretty amazing too. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes. Enter through the mall entrance.

Food is great, outside of the salmon. Service was wonderful, and they were interested in hearing about our meal/experience. Its a popular place and there arent a lot of tables, so a reservations is recommended for dinner.

Ive visited Yannis Greek Taverna countless times, as I live right by. The service is always friendly, even during busier times, which keeps me coming back. The prices are reasonable, and the food is consistently good. Its a reliable spot for a satisfying meal with great service.

I am not sure what Redneck/Hill Billy clientele these people have that have given them so many 5 star reviews but this place is gross! My wife ordered food for us from here and it was disgusting. Their Lemon Soup was bland and tasted like it had no lemon in it. The food was so greasy and over seasoned on some things, and ridiculously under seasoned for others. Also, what kind of Greek restaurant serves boiled baby carrots with their dinner plates. I STRONGLY encourage people not to spend their hard earned money here. There are so many better options out there people. Don t give your money to people who cut corners.

Carbs in oil oh yeah

We usually lick the hummus and tzatziki dry and there is never any left, we barely ate it last night and my husband said they both tasted funky I noticed they didnt taste the same either. We threw most of it away. Plus the containers got smaller and now they arent even being filled up all the way.. Pita bread was over cooked and rock solid, we even took a video hitting it on the table it was so ridiculous. I can send the video if im given an email since there is only a phone number on your site. We asked for extra lemon wedges, via the online order AND I called to confirm and ask again/make sure, they said of course no problem.. We were given only the 1 lemon in the souvlaki order. I asked for a side of carrots and potatoes because Im recovering from oral surgery and cant eat certain things. The carrots were covered in rice, something I cant eat because it can get trapped in the incision and cause infection. I specifically didnt order a platter because I cant eat the rice. The spanakopita was underfilled and way over cooked, it was burnt. Overall extremely dissapointed with our order and angry we spent almost $80 for burnt food that we barely could eat. We are usually very happy with our food, but this time left such a bad taste in our mouths we wont be ordering from here again since nobody cares to address this. No response to review, no response to the email they send out asking how things were. They apparently dont care!

annie was such an amazing waitress. welcoming, funny, enthusiastic and hard working. she made sure everything was perfect and done. always checking up and making sure everything was okay. i enjoyed the company and food. WILL be back :) 5/5!

We had dinner there several times summer 2023. The food is always consistent, tasty and properly cooked. Spices and taste are perfect to our concept of Greek flavors. We usually get one or two of the appetizers - always the calamari, but depending we will get spanakopita or the dolmathes. My wife always love their chicken souvlaki, and I will either have a lamb souvlaki or the roast lamb. Both are fantastic. My kids love the lasagne, and sometimes on occasion we will share a large platter. The prices are still quite reasonable as we can still keep to around $25 to $35 per person.

Happy New Year! Had a friend grab me a Roasted Lamb meal while they were there and I ate in the next day at work. Heated slowly in a toaster oven you couldnt tell it was a take away meal. Absolutely amazing lamb! All of it was good and I am looking forward to going in and eating in next time I get the craving. Great food!!

Ordered the roast lamb and chicken souvlaki. Everything was oversalted which, I believe was to cover taste of old meat. Greek salad wasnt close to authentic. Rice, potato and carrots were just blah. Too bad as this place used to be really good.

I ordered combo (chicken & lamb) Souvlaki. It was good but both chicken & lamb meat were a bit dry. Staff were very attentive. Atmosphere was nice and cosy. Lots of free parking spots at the Westminster Centre parking lot.

Yiannis is a must-go destination for when I am craving greek! The food is affordable and the steak and chicken souvlaki are the juiciest and most flavourful in all of Burnaby! My most favourite is their calamari as the batter does not fall off the squid, making it very suitable for tzatziki dipping. No mess, no stress.

We have been going to Yiannis Greek Taverna for the past 12 plus years and the food and service never disappoint! Tonight was no exception. Despite the majority of tables being full and a constant stream of phone order pickup, the two wonderful servers handled the hustle and bustle with professionalism laced with charm, cheerfulness, and good humour. They can only be classified as the dynamic duo as they brought dish after dish to hungry patrons. The food as always was excellent, made from scratch from family recipes, and I can honestly say that it is the best Greek food outside of Greece!!

I had the saganaki and the chicken caesar salad and both were delicious! The staff were all friendly, attentive and fast, and the atmosphere was perfect. Will definitely be a repeat visitor.

This is now my go-to Greek place! The epitome of Greek food. This was just a couple days ago to celebrate Easter Sunday. I ordered the melinzano eggplant dip, the dolmathes, the avgolemono soup, and the roast lamb with baklava for dessert. All dishes came with pita. First off, the melinzano dip was unlike anything I ve had before, so fresh and authentic. The avgolemono soup as well. The roast lamb was so tender and just fell off the bone, and was accompanied with rice and potato which was also very good. The vegetables in the Greek salad were super fresh. Last of all the baklava was the most different and authentic tasting baklava I ve ever had. The delivery was fast and the food was nice and hot. Hence the five stars. I will be ordering from here again and again. Thank you!!

Yiannis is a great place to dine in if youre in New Westminster. They have a super friendly staff. The menu is great with very decent pricing. One of the waitresses forgot to bring my friend his orange juice earlier and then decided to give it to him on the house, which was a very kind gesture. I am definitely going back there for their soup and Dinner Plate!

Been living in New Westminster for 17 yrs but this place was only discovered recently. Located at Uptown and in a pretty busy location. This place serves delicious and tasty Greek fare. In my opinion, this is far more an grade than those Greek food franchise. The restaurants decor was quite dated but the ambiance it gives is more casual and friendlier since a lot of folks from the neighborhood eat here. You can even catch the servers a bit familiar and chatty with regulars. The place might be cramp during their busy hours thats why I found it easier to order it online(website) and pick them up on my chosen time. Our go to food here was always the Calamari and their Roasted Lamb. You might want to order their Platters for sharing. It was recommended for 2 but it is more than enough for at least 4 (2 kids, 2 Adults). Parking on these busy area will not be a problem if you can go around the block and park inside the buildings customer parking.

Its a great place to stop for lunch. Lunch special was great, bbq ribs , and the gave us a large Greek salad to make it Keto. Server was very friendly and helpful. I will be back.

We ordered a dish of fried lamb with salad and rice for about 23 Canadian dollars, the meat was tender, soft and juicy. The portions are huge, you can only take meat and salad. Very well cooked, excellent presentation and friendly staff. There were a lot of people and we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. We were very pleased, I recommend visiting this establishment

Staff were wonderful, over worked but remained calm and positive. Restaurant was packed due to a show happening close by, everyone had same idea to go there for dinner. Only 2 women working a packed restaurant. They got everyone fed on time! Food was good, I had roast lamb, prices were reasonable .

Go somewhere else for your Greek fix. Worst Greek cuisine ever had. Soggy greasy kalamari and kefetes. Tzatziki was likely thickened with something other than full fat rich creamy yogurt. Pita was like hard over toasted dry crackers. The service was great .

I love this place. I was given a big portion of roast lamb and it is well seasoned. The pita is fresh and tastes delicious. Nice generous helping of sauce on the side. The potato is delicious too. Its my favourite restaurant in New West.

Had the roast lamb and it was delicious! Some may not like it, but the fatty roast lamb are the best kinds out there. This one was definitely it. I opted for no rice and extra Greek salad, though the extra salad didnt look like it has as much extra than a normal serving. Other than that, it was great and Id definitely come back again.

Wow can they fail any harder. Keftadas in tomato sauce. Trying to hide the lack of spices. Greek salad with wilted cucumber and dried out olives. Roasted potatoes with zero flavors. Dont waste your money.

The food here is fantastic and Ive rarely come where Ive had to wait for a table! Id especially recommend their roast lamb which is fatty, moist, and flavourful. I recently tried their dinner platter, which was surprisingly great value and very filling. Its certainly for 2 people, or maybe even 3 depending on how much you eat!

Chris the chef had a lovely conversation with us as well, everything reminded me of back home(Greece). Great place to go relax with a friend and just catch up. Definitely gonna be back. We are regulars here. We live in New West and and enjoy coming here about once a month. The calamari is good. The Roast Lamb and Chicken Souvlaki are really good. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and efficient. We love this local spot.

Dec. 18/23 @ 7:45pm. I am a woman in my late 60s, and I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for about 2 years. After how I was harassed tonight, I will never return. Staff on shift: Owner named Paul Waitress #1: Martina (took my money) Waitress #2: Kim (she said she was also the Manager). Since Kim was Indo-Canadian - I suspect Kim is not her legal name. My bill was $24.24 I went up to the bar to pay as usual - and a new waitress named Martina took my money. I have always given the waitresses there between $2. and $3. tip, and tonight was no different. I paid Martina in cash. I gave her:- (1) $20. dollar bill (1) $10. dollar bill (1) toonie I asked for a $5. dollar bill in change - stating the rest ($2.75) is for a tip. Martina gave me a $5. in change and I said thank you and Martina replied thank you! I went to the washroom and while in there - I noticed Martina opened the door - then closed it. She then came inside the washroom and told me that I short changed her and I owe her $10. dollars? I explained how I paid (see above) and the Manager Kim said they were not used to dealing in cash because they dont normally receive it. Martina came back stating - I only have (1) $10. bill in the cash register, and that came from another customer. When I spoke to the owner Paul - manager Kim got verbally aggressive - interupting and raising her voice loudly. I told her to stop interupting me, but she refused (what a nasty women - treating me like this). In the end - the owner Paul said I told you sorry - but sorry came too late - and after I stated I will never come back here again. Kim was grinning (she was quite satisfied with herself) and she was giving me the snake eye as she sipped her drink. The restaurant was kind of empty (unfortunately for me) as people witnessing me being harassed and disrespected would have been bad for their business. I said Merry Christmas and left. Kim (the East Indian waitress) called me a racist as I walked out - but I believe Kim is the racist and that may be why I was targeted for harassment in the 1st place. Got delivery through door dash for the first time (Ill never do that again, but not the restaurants fault (No delivery charge my foot, oh Im sorry its not a delivery charge its a service charge. My bad. They over charged the tax as well, but I digress). The food was ok. There are much better Greek places. Rice was really oily but not awful, but really the most unacceptable (yet not overly relevant) part was the carrots. They tasted like theyd been overcooked, frozen, and then heated again. Just incredibly nasty. The salmon and potato were decent, the Greek salad sub par with one olive piece but edible.

Steak too fattt

My friend and I stopped in here for a quick lunch and we had such a nice time. Server was extremely kind and personable. Portions were very generous for the price we paid. I had the salmon in tomato sauce (plus rice, potato, pita, tzatziki and greek salad) I was completely stuffed and it only cost like 13$. Will definitely come back here, highly recommended.

Our usual Greek place was closed so we decided to try this place. I never write bad reviews however today I ordered the chicken souvlaki and roast lamb dinner from Uber. Both dishes were completely stale and dry. Clear that it was cooked earlier and reheated. Everything was unpalatable. The rice was oily and the potatoes and carrots were just parboiled with no flavour. Worst Greek food ever.

AMAZING FOOD, QUALITY, ATMOSPHERE, PRICING!!!!!!!! Went here for the first time with a couple of my friends and I cant believe what i have been missing my whole life! Food was amazing and the servings were gigantic for the price. Healthy, Fresh and Affordable!!! We also had informed our waitress that it was our first time here and she was very helpful and patient when it came to ordering. She got the food to us in a timely manner and was even coming back to check up on us. Incredible service and washroom as well and the whole dining area was incredibly clean and loved the atmosphere. When you go make sure to get the calamari it was to die for, also if you have the space, they have best desserts too! 100% would recommend to anyone who loves fresh and tasty food!

We have been going to this restaurant for the past five years. Last week we went again and had our favorite, the calamari, but it was not typically Greek but instead very spicy. We would not have this particular dish again. Potato was not the same as we have always had. Needless to say we are a little disappointed and wonder if the kitchen staff that prepares the food has changed in the past few months.

Great food and nice restaurant. Just one thing I would suggest to the owner. Last night a lady came, she had too much cheap perfume on herself that a half of the restaurant had to leave. Luckily I was at the other side of the restaurant. My wife told the waitress why a half of the restaurant suddenly left, the waitress shook her head . The rest was o.k. went there tonight and my impression is the same, they still have 5stars from us. Like the parking in the building. Update for may 8 2022 No change in rating. Still excellent.

Excellent as always. We went on Mothers Day around 2 pm, and while the restaurant was about half full, they were doing an enormous number of take out orders. We were seated immediately, and our food came out very quickly. My friend was so impressed with the food he said he was still thinking about it the next day Thanks for a wonderful experience!

The sanganki was not melted, the calamari was dark they need too change there oil but they know how how to charge dont go there

I honestly cant stop coming here! This has got to be the best tasting greek food in New West. Prices are also very very reasonable. Greek food usually gets my hemorrhoids to flare up but the food here is worth the discomfort!

Ordered Dinner 2 came with verity of meats. It s a better option price wise to try different things and the portions was good for 2 people . Vegetarian options I ordered was tiropita dinner cheese filled pastry ). I didn t like it that much .Most of the items comes with rice and potatoes that didn t have very much taste to it .For drink we ordered Sangria pitcher . Wasn t that great either . Staff was polite and attentive. The only thing I really like was Greek Salad . Otherwise food was just okay comparable to the place I usually go .

Went there for lunch with 2 longtime friends. We all had Mousaka, it was delicious. It came with rice, potatoes, zatiki, pita bread and of course Greek salad. The best Greek salad I ever had. Also what stood out about it was they used yellow and red peppers, awesome! Cause I cant stand green peppers. They also have Ekmek now, which we shared. The waitress was a busy gal and took care of entire restaurant, we nicknamed her breeze, cause she was so fast and caused a breeze when she whized by, lol. She is a gem and valuable asset there.

This is the first time we ordered from Yiannis and we got takeout at 7:30 on a Saturday night. When we walked in, the restaurant was busy and we had to wait a few more minutes for our food. The servers were very friendly and helpful while we waited. Once our food was ready, it was brought out to us immediately. We walked the few blocks home and unboxed everything. The food was so fresh and hot, definitely cooked to order. Nothing was greasy or soggy. The Greek salad was great. The veggies were crisp and it wasnt swimming in dressing. The bread served with the tzatziki was fresh, soft and warm. My boyfriend ordered the Lamb souvlaki and he said it was the best lamb hes had in years. It was tender, not chewy and nicely seasoned. I had the chicken breast dinner and I wasnt disappointed. Looking forward to ordering again or visiting in person! The beer menu looked very tempting!

I had the chicken souvlaki. It was very tasty. Big portions. Loved the potato, rice, salad, basically everything tasted great. And the pita bread was delicious.

This is such a hidden gem. The food was amazing and arrived quickly. My wife, 2 kids and myself ordered the platter for 2 and this was more than enough to fill us up. The platter had a great selection from roasted lamb, chicken souvlaki, calamari, dolmas, rice and potatoes. The staff was extremely friendly as well. We will definitely come back.

Dinner was quite problematic and disappointing. For an appetizer: Calamari quite greesey and the batter crumbled off the squid and used white onions would have expected red onions. Main: Got the lamb souvlaki, salad was very dry, lamb had tendons throughout the meat which made it terribly chewy and uneatable also the lamb wasnt seasoned and pretty dull. Pita was pretty good and the tzetziki is the best thing here. Ordered a glass of wine but didnt receive it until my dinner was 75% finished. The server was on their phone half the time. Most likely I wont go back, I will probably make the trip out to Greek in Coquitlam or PoCo.

A steady decline in food quality over the last 6 months, as I order usually once or twice a month. Todays most recent order has made my decision to give this place up for good. Boiled mushy carrots and bland potato to start. Rubbery lamb souvlaki and a Greek salad made at least a day before due to the browning cucumber. I gave 2 stars due to the decent bread and flavor of the tzatziki being the star of the show masking the other ingredients. Save your money, Taverna Greka is your best option in New Westminster.

Had a chance to dine-in for the first time in months after regularly getting take-out. Was very impressed with quality, service, taste. Selection on the platter was great and portion was enough for family of 3. Very impressed.

Wait staff awesome! Agree with other reviewers, stay away from mousaka... Had an ethnic tang to it... Wasnt a fan. However, the calamari was outstanding, best Ive ever had. The roast lamb was alright, not bad. Good portions.. Good pricing, was busy in here and also take out...may come back only for the calamari though!

Good place for some Greek food.

We have been coming here for over 2 years. It was always our favorite and convenient due to living across the street. My favorite dish has always been the Calamari Dinner, however this time it was so flavorless and just covered in breading. It looks like it came out of a box from the grocery store. Needless to say we will be walking to the other Greek restaurants in New Westminster from now on.

Pathetic portions for the price & order was wrong! Chicken soup served with the tiniest bit of chicken, mostly rice and very little broth. And... How do you screw up a Greek salad for a Caesar salad at a Greek restaurant?!? Who wants to pay $10 for a few pieces of lettuce and a whole lot of flavourless croutons??? Yiannis can donate the Greek Salad they say they noted free for my next visit because I will never return again considering this isnt my first seriously disappointing experience at Yiannis.

Welcoming, fair prices, service that deserves a tip, excellent food. Came just to try and see how it went and Im coming back for sure.

I ordered from Yiannis many times. Food has always been great! my favourite is vegetarian mousaka. Salad can sometimes be not so fresh if you re unlucky, but that s fine. The prices are reasonable too.

Tried Saganaki, Moussaka and Ek Mek for désert. Big portions, very tasty

I was about to order a meal from this restaurant today. I was forced to make an account with their third party checkout provider (Touch Bistro) in order to order online. So I decided I would give them a call to order instead. I was met with a one minute wait while the phone was ringing, and an employee picked up the phone, and hung it up immediately. I will never order food here again with service like this. Its 7pm on a Wednesday, youre not so busy that you cant answer a phone.

Service was very quick, friendly and attentive. Food was tasty!

Ordered a dinner platter (2x chicken souvlaki, calamari, roast lamb) and a roast lamb dinner. Really not impressed with the food. My guests commented that the lamb was too oily and portion was not up to standards from other Greek restaurants. Wont order from here again unfortunately

Good food. We ordered calamari, roast lamb and salmon fillets topped with tomato sauce. Portions were big enough. Each dish comes with rice, potatoes and salad. Calamari and salmon had tzatziki included as well. It was a nice dinner. Staff is friendly. The only downside is that the place is small and tables are too close to each other.

Did a pickup order on Friday December 3rd for Mousaka and Souvlaki. When I got home, I found that the Mousaka was missing. My wife and I shared the food that I did get and then called the restaurant to let them know and get a partial refund. The gentleman I spoke to said he would do a refund on my credit card or I could go back and pick up a piece of Mousaka as he called. I asked for a refund as we had eaten by now. He said he would do the refund but once more encouraged me to go back and pickup the piece of Mousaka Its almost a week and there has been no refund. I have been going to this restaurant for over 18 years. Thankfully there are more restaurants now in the vicinity and there are food delivery options so I wont be going back.

This is my go to place Everytime. Atleast once a week. Great taste, quality and quantity with great ambiance for dine in. If you are a lamb love then you just hit a jackpot (I am talking about my personal fav roast lamb) perfectly seasoned with juicy meat. Great staff, Very friendly. I have also ordered takeout many times and its always remained best
