Its a bit of a mixed review. Starting with the good side of Rivers Reach... The service is always great!!! My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and never have anything bad to say. On Monday night we went in for dinner, drinks, and a place to play cards. We could tell right off the bat that there was a different energy coming from the front house team. We soon learned why. It wasnt super busy in there but the servers looked stressed. Our server Saya was great as always. We had to ask for the table to wiped down better and we waited a bit for drinks but ok. No big deal. We ordered a quesadilla and a chicken club. Here is the bad side... The food came out in a timely matter. The quesadilla with caesar salad was fine. Classic pub fare. My chicken club with greens was a different story. At first they brought me the wrong salad. No big deal. Easy fix! Then I took a bite of my sandwich. I sent it back because I had asked to add cheese. I expected to have it rebuilt, maybe melting the cheese on the chicken or something. Instead I got 2 pieces of cold cheese slapped underneath the top bread. I tried to overlook it but after another bite, I understood how bad it was. The bread was barely toasted, the garlic sauce was only in the middle and not spread around, the chicken was dry, and the bacon was so overcooked it crumbled like sawdust. Our server and the manager Christina came to check on me and I again, sent my food back. They apologized profusely and got the kitchen to make me a quesadilla instead. While waiting again I noticed that many full plated of food were being sent back. It was mentioned that the guys in the kitchen were new but seriously? My 7 year old niece can build a sandwich properly. I eventually got a quesadilla. It was fine. Fine is the best thing I can say about it. It was clear that the back of house were under trained and dont care about producing great products. It was also clear that the servers and FOH manager do care and were doing their best at damage control, and great service. Thank you again to Saya and Christina for fixing our evening. We will see you again soon.

It was great place to hung out with friends after soccer game. Food is good and very friendly staff.

Food was pretty good. Had a delicious Caesar and on Saturdays pizza is half off so we couldn t resist. We had the veggie one and it was just ok but there were fresh vegetables on it so seemed more like home made - which might be a good thing. Other pizzas we saw looked delicious as well as the other appies that were going by. It is loud in this pub and I didn t want a loud pub but my friend took me here but onceseatwd, we were able to hear each other so it wasn t bad. No loud music just loud voices. Super friendly servers. Dietary restrictions: We asked for pizza without cheese on one half. They accommodated but was a bit of an ordeal for them to say yes, it was ok. Parking: There are limited free 2 hr parking spots during the day. Paid street parking or you d have to walk a dustance to get free street parking in the residential areas. Kid-friendliness: Not a place I d bring my kids Wheelchair accessibility: Front steps yo get into pub so don t think this would be suitable

Went there a couple of weeks ago and was surprised at the prices. The beer is way overpriced and its the same price for craft beer and local beer. Over 2 dollars more per pint than anywhere else.The pizza was good but no half priced pizza like they had before covid. Server said they were going to bring back the half priced pizza but it would be on a Monday and not for a couple of weeks. The menu is not as good as before the new owners took over. We were regular patrons before covid and the few times we came back after, the service was lacking and the prices are not reasonable for what they offer. Might wait a while and go back to see if it has improved any. Not impressed though... UPDATE: I really liked the menu before they closed due to Covid but since they reopened, the menu was just not as good so when I heard they revamped their menu, I went online to see the changes. There are some new items on the menu that I liked but their prices are way too steep and Happy hour prices are NOT good. They used to have half-priced or 2 for 1 appies but now they just take off 4 dollars on the already way too high prices. The prices compared to other pubs are very high. I do however think that the service is still great. Still very noisy in there, hard to have any conversation with my party. Might go back if they make the prices more on track with other similar places but at those prices, Ill pass...

This place looks like a great place to hang out from the outside and by its name. But I found it too crowded and noisy. Unfortunately this is more like a sports TV bar and not a quiet venue to enjoy a drink. I had to leave because the noise made it impossible for me to talk with my guest. I understand that its another sports bar and that means that they have TVs showing sports and speakers everywhere, but they might want to consider a quiet zone for people that enjoy talking instead of gawking at sports. Fortunately, there are great places to enjoy a drink and have a chat with a friend if you live in or are visiting New Westminster.

A place to be!

I always enjoy dropping into Rivers Reach when Im in the area. Plenty of screens for sports, Keno, friendly folk, great menu, and specials. The bonus is Trush and Lexie are super servers/hostesses that have you feeling like you are welcomed home. A 10 on the highly recommended places to go.

Glad that you finally have brunch. Tried the Eggs Benny today of the new brunch menu. Asked for medium but eggs were more on the Hard side. Hash browns were a little heavy on the salt for my taste. Would have been nice to have fruit instead of a salad. Also not very much sauce on the eggs. Needs a little tweaking but will try a one of the other options next time. Music was a bit loud for Brunch, perhaps more of an easy listening. Hard to hear the other person that came with me.

Decent place but not a destination pub. Server was a little moody like she didnt want to be there. Hard to chat too, music was a little loud for the amount of people there. Otherwise ok.

Update on this post from a month ago. After I posted, I got a response from manager at RR asking to contact them via email, which I did. I received a quick response with an apology and the offer of a gift card. One week later, no card. Sent another email, and got a reply saying, they mailed it but it must have gone to the wrong place. Please give them address again, because they threw away the paper on which it was written. Provided address again. (as an aside, my mailing address is also at the bottom of my email along with my signature). Another week after providing address again, no card. One more email sent. to that one I got a reply from manager saying her dad has been in the hospital, will mail as soon as she can. If this response was in fact true, understood and sorry to hear. Although I find it hard to believe this one person is the only one who can mail out a card. In any event, another week and a half later, still nothing. What. A. Joke. Went for a group birthday lunch there today. Service was slow, delivered by sourly waitress who made no effort to be welcoming or polite. She got my order wrong (asked for mayo on the burger, got what looked like Mac sauce) and when I pointed it out, she said they would remake, and to give them 5 minutes. No apology of course. Ten minutes later she told me the burger was just being plated. Another 5 minutes or so, she brought out my burger on a side plate (childs plate?) and planted it in front of me. She was rude and not afraid to show she was pissed off.

Have been here once on a Canucks game day and once on a Friday. Both nights were packed. There was a wide range of people and age groups leaning more towards an above 35 crowd. The food was okay, nothing outstanding. I really like the interior design.

Their pizza is very yummy! So are the burgers and fries! But watch out for sitting on the deck, smoke from smokers around the corner can blow over you. This has happened to us and forced us to move. And the smoking area which is right next to the front door is disgusting -See Pic - And while the music can be too loud and the AC too cold, overall its a very pleasant dining experience. Our Fav place to go :) Parking: Limited side street parking. Some meter parking out front.

Local pub, good food, good service. Its super noisy on game nights so if youre planning for a visit or long talks with your friends - be warned

Kitchen obviously used Sodium Citrate in cheese sauce. Absolutely disgusting, it was inedible. Send your kitchen staff back to culinary school. Will never be back

This is a sure shot go to place if you ever venture near the 6th street and 4th avenue. The staff are kind and attentive. They have special seating areas in the bar and the food is delicious. Not many bars offer curly fries but they do. So far I have tried their Peri Peri Fries, Crispy Chicken Sliders, Chicken Wings, Cajun Chicken Sandwich and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I am yet to try their Pizza on one of the days where it is priced half.

It was my first time back in a couple years. My last visit was in 2022 and the food was awful and service was nearly non-existent. I d heard rumours that recently they ve improved a lot so I figured it was worth another shot. I noticed right away that the service was wonderful, lots of staff, super friendly, very quick. Sadly the food fell short. I ordered a beef dip with soup of the day - seafood chowder. I requested crackers to go with it, but the server had no idea what a cracker was, so I tried to describe it. She thought maybe I was talking about a salt or pepper grinder. So I found a photo of premium plus crackers on Google images and showed her. She had never seen them before and said they don t have these things here. So I asked a different server who actually knew what crackers are and she apologized saying they only had bread or pita. The chowder itself was bland and flavourless. The beef dip was just ok but half was super soggy because the au jus must have spilled while it was being plated, so part of it fell apart when I tried to pick it up off the plate to eat. All in all I probably won t bother coming back when there are so many other stellar places nearby. I also can t get over any establishment that has soup on their menu, not offering crackers to accompany it. How the server made it so far in life never encountering one is beyond me. The service and attitude truly was great though. If you re just looking for a place to sip a few beers/beverages and chill - it s a great place for that. The patio space is super nice too.

This is a great place to eat pizza and watch sports. There are t.v.s all around. It was busy while we were there but still did not have to wait long for anything. My friend said they have gluten-free options available as well. Its nice to be able to open the window beside your table. I will be back. Staff and customers are friendly here.

When your bartender demands $8 on a $12 bartab you have become too expensive for me . Liz down the street at the begbie is honest . And i tip her very well

The waitstaff were friendly but the food service was slow and our meals did not taste good. Braised short ribs were extremely dry and tough and the artichoke dip was just ok..

The crispy chicken sliders are big. You get four. They were out of some of the beer specials, but it was a nice, sunny day Vegetarian options: Didnt have, but looked good

Staff are friendly enough, but prices are pretty high for the average food youll get. This used to be a favorite spot of mine prior to the shutdown, lets just say it hasnt come back better and certainly not cheaper.

2024 and nothing marked gluten free on the menu. Ordered a burger with lettuce wrap and they used full sized romaine ! Way too hard to eat. Not much for happy hour drinks. So sad. Used to our favorite restaurant before owner closed it down because staff wanted a union. Won t be back. Dietary restrictions: Menu offered, vegan and spicy. Nothing else.

New owners. Not the same . Half price happy hour appetizers are gone. Definitely not as busy or as popular as it once was. Wont be going back despite going there regularly.

The place, the beer is good, yesterday I went with my boyfriend and a couple of friends and the only bad thing is that the waitress was on the offer, she almost put her bust in my boyfriends face, she came and interrupted the conversations every so often and got in the way Of the people chatting away with my boyfriend, zero respect, he even followed him twice to the bathroom, a cross-eyed waitress who was there, I didnt learn her name but what a lack of respect what she did, they should take more care of their waitresses, what a shame they make us feel. uncomfortable for customers

Food is decent but overpriced for what it is. Service staff are friendly but will forget about your table if they get busy- we had to wait over 20 minutes for the bill. I really like the patio because its got light. The inside is pretty dark, but it does give it a pub vibe.

The food here is kind of mid in my honest opinion. I never like writing anything negative but the truth is the truth. On the other hand, the service was very good and the atmosphere was decent as well. Just be careful handling your menus if you go here. Mine were sticky and I dont know what it was and the waiter suggested I made them sticky lol, not really a big problem but something that stuck with me from the experience.

Service can be a bit rude depending on the staff person. Clientele sitting at the bar are usually kind of rough looking so it s a bit unpleasant to go by yourself. Good place to go with a few others.

Last night my friend and I celebrated our birthdays at Rivers Reach. We were in the back room. Bikrim helped organize our event he was fantastic! Mary our server did an outstanding job especially for how many of us there were. Thank for making our day extra special!

Bartender had hard time remembering my order lol but what he brought me was yummy even though its not what I ordered. Waitess was to busy flirting with the Bartender to work.

Empty. Probably because there us no happy hour anymore. After renovating maybe you think they trying to get moneyi back for paying for it but no turns out the renovations was because they sold half the bar & now its a seperate establishment. A dispensary. So no excuse for that. You think they want there clientele back. Everyone is at other local spots now.

The best pizza Ive had!! Ive tried a few of the dishes and none of them have disappointed! My personal favourites are the sweet potato fries (the garlic dip is superior!!) and pizza (any pizza, theyre all amazing!) Wonderful atmosphere and great staff! My favourite restaurant in New West. Food

Ordered a bacon cheddar burger off Uber eats, when it arrived it was a veggie patty with obviously no bacon. After rechecking the app it turns out when you order the bacon cheddar burger the veggie patty option is automatically chosen which is a little bizarre for something focused on meat. As its what I ordered I cant get a refund from Uber and not hating on the restaurant as its not entirely in their control. The veggie burger was good but disappointing when expecting something else. Just posting so people will know to make sure you dont accidentally order a veggie burger.

This place was recommended by a friend....this bar was really old school....looked dated. (But a friend said its supposed to look old school like an old English Pub) I give however 5 stars to my waitress...she was new to both waitressing and English. Her people were my people from the same Place in Ukraine. She absolutly brought a warm glow to what was otherwise a grungy looking place. Finally the food was absolutly great...they served 33 Acres beer ...my Fav. Will I go back...juries still out on that decision....but the kicker here is my wife really liked the place. Go figure.

Close to home, not close to the river. Far from a reach.

As far as food goes, its nothing special. Three of us ordered the fish and chips that should have been called soggy fish and chips. A couple servings were overcooked. Service was good, atmosphere was also good, but we found the food to be sub par.

So we changed our mind about this place. We liked the place and food and service a lot before the pandemic. After time they opened again we gave the tray. It was good food, little slow service but ok. Today was the most terribly slow service we ever had anywhere. Weithing so long for food. After they brought wings they did not bring anything 30minutuse even we ordered side dishes, salad and dip. So sad, this place is really good but they dont handle food orders right. We chose to pay for our drinks but after we complained we didnt pay anything, but we left. We will not come back, unfortunately.

We used to come here every weekend. They used to have a nice deal on pizza, and thats why we didnt mind paying $8 for the beer. The menu changed, and the deals are gone. Time to look for a new place

Food is not a good as previous owner

Finally, after years of being closed, I was looking forward to trying what was once a go-to place for dinner. The new staff need a lot of work if they ever want to be close to their predecessors. The new menu is lacking as well. Lacking favor and choices. The price is now exorbitant. If you go back to try to go between 4 and 6, at least youll save a bit. If I could give 0 stars for food and service, I would have. I Do Not Recommend

Came in for a late night treat, it was totally amazing, I love both the food and service here. I do read reviews before coming, this place has recently got many complains about new ownership, new menu new staffs. From my experience, this pub is way better than some other pub around, the atmosphere is so chill not so noisy and the food is awesome. yam fries cook to perfection, calamari is crispy came with best dipping sauce ever. Our waitress is very attentive, though her english is not best but her attitude is very warm and polite. The price is reasonable too, we wondered why people are so picky and underrated this place, definitely worth a come back, highly recommend!!!

Im not sure my review in its entirety was published, my wife and I attended the Rivers Reach Pub last night. The purpose was to follow up with my wifes resume she had submitted for server/bartender position and have a beverage and a bite for date night. And it turned into a great experience way better than we expected, the food was amazing, drinks cold (Coronas) and the staff (Vic) and the others were amazing cant say enough good things about the place. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting, the decor very comfortable and sports on TV. Along with a little Keno and video poker made my evening. Hopefully the wife gets a job and ill have an excuse to be there all the time without appearing stockerish lol. Thank you all for the wonderful night!!!!

Update: Decided to give this place another shot after my original 3-star review. I m sorry to report that things have not gotten better; if anything, they ve become worse. My group was told menus available online were out of date and we were presented with a new food menu with even more markup ($22 for a plain and overcooked burger? ~$10 for a pint of standard beer?). Our server also gave us the wrong beers but insisted they were correct without even checking with the bar. Really sad to see things go downhill and will have to revise my score down to 1. Unfortunately, I don t think I ll be returning anytime soon. Original Review: Great to see this place open again - drinks and service were decent but the food is mediocre. There s certainly room for improvement (I ordered the tacos), especially when considering that pricing has gone up quite a bit.

A Saturday Brunch visit that was Long overdue ! GREAT PUB ! Lexi was our server . . . She is Good A very friendly patron at the next table ( a regular, for sure) told us she has been here a long time... Apparently they are known locally for the custom-made pizzas ... but for a Brunch we chose the sandwich and salad special Well be back very soon . . . Wheelchair accessibility: No . . . This building has a Beautiful front entry designed decades before City planners thought about accessibility !

The food is not delicious and the beer, although they have several styles, is not the ideal temperature.

Its an amazing place the server Sophia is very very friendly, and as well professional and she pays attention we always have the service this place is highly recommended.

Was closed for quite awhile even after the pandemic. Menu rejigged and prices increased (I know inflation...) But portions are smaller and not as many deals to be had. Still a pretty solid place in the neighborhood.

They just introduced some good specials and seem to have lowered drink prices with large 20oz Canadians for $6 every day at Happy Hour. Half price pizza back Saturday and now Monday as well. Staff and service has vastly improved recently.

Expensive, food not the best anymore

Love the atmosphere and the day time servers, but for the first time going in late, my server slash bartender, named Vanessa I believe was so busy she wouldnt fully let me ask for what I wanted, ordered wings waited a long to time to get my ranch Dips, I asked for a certain amount of glass of wine, I get it she was trying to save me money but that was not the issue wanted a 9 oz not half and half on special price then hiding it behind counter, I notice she was on the phone a alot behind counter, I asked for my bill, because I still finishing a drink didnt come around right away for me to pay and waited for me to finish my drink, I told her sometimes when someone asks for a bill its because they want to pay an leave right away wether they finish the drink or not, I had to wait. Ended up staying longer making friends, they offered to buy me a drink and that person only got their drink and I didnt receive mine, she claimed I was too drunk already, which was not the case honestly that guy who ordered was drunker than me and got the drink and was dancing in the hall, She didnt even offer me a glass of water, if your trying to do your job right and think someone is too drunk and deny them a drink at least bring them a glass of water. She brought me my bill didnt expect a tip, good on her, she didnt deserve one for the service I got from her and said I was the one being rude, I went alone to enjoy a some food and yes I had my head phones to listen to podcasts and texting my bf back, but I wasnt walking around tripping every where being irragant, but yet she was only doing her job and called me off. I dont think I did anything wrong in the matter but it ok, I accepted it but I will say her behaviour was terrible for being a busy bartender/server and I did not enjoy it at all. I dont recommend going there after 7pm if shes around anytime before that youll get peak service, but I cant tell you about the food quality because I havent tried everything off the menu, I only know I love there wings and went every Wednesday when they had wing Wednesday which they stopped doing and came out with their new menu for cheap appetizers which I have no desire for. Also if I was that drunk she shouldve asked if I need a cab to make sure I got home safe, clearly she not using her serving it right skill properly.

Just when you thought great customer service was a thing of the past, until you walk into the Rivers Reach Pub and are greeted by beauty and a friendly smile from Mary, Ella, or Karina, No matter where you sit you are guaranteed amazing service from one of them. My favorite bartender, Bickram (Vic) is not only good looking, but hes smart and hardworking and knows how to go above and beyond with great service, not only with his customers but also with the people he works with. I have had the pleasure of meeting someone very special there, her name is Sofia. Not only is she beautiful and elegant, her personality and customer service is outstanding and if you are lucky enough to sit in her section, she will make sure you visit is amazing and make you feeling like your part of the family. Hats off to the Rivers Reach for well put together selection of staff. Stop in and say hi to an amazing bunch of people. I can hardly wait for my next visit. Gave this place another chance. Total mistake. Service is terrible, I mean I would have spent more money if I ever saw the waitress. Food is nothing special. Its really too bad, this place was awesome before covid. But now not so much. If you like a good looking pub with terrible service this is you place.

I had a great time tonight! Good atmosphere, bright and social place to meet up. The service was excellent, with Kristina on the ball keeping the beer flowing!

Bbq Pizza is amazing. The pub is a place to come with your friends to chill, have some drinks and eat pub food such as some amazing pizza to bite into. Staff are friendly and patient.

River s Reach staff are all super friendly and do a really good job serving. All staff are very hands on, and super friendly, and very kind. In this very poor economy, as with everywhere, Shrinkflation has affected resulted in increase prices and sizes of the food, but prices are on point and the food is still exceptional. Please bring back the Nachos in a basket though. Thanks everyone.

I have been to Rivers Reach several times with my friends since they reopened, and it has become one of my favourite places to go for drinks. The staff definitely make the difference here! Vick and Sophia really stand out, as they are friendly, welcoming, funny, and super efficient. However, all the staff Ive encountered are really great.

The service is awesome! Sat at the bar and Vic is awesome! Changed the channel to my game and quick with the drinks. Thanks Vic!

Always love going to Rivers Reach! I love all the staff too. This time, I have to give a special shoutout to Bikram. He recently served our table and did an amazing job despite how busy it was! He kept up with our many orders and made sure we all had a wonderful time. Everyone at our table was happy with the service provided by Bikram. He was pleasant, polite and kept a smile on his face every time he came around. Thank you, Bik, for making our experience a memorable one every time you serve us. Truly appreciate it and will keep coming back.

Sweet spot in New Westminster.. theyve had their ups and downs over the years and they survived.. Good food. Good service. I recommend this friendly neighborhood watering hole.

Definitely not the bar that it was before covid. Use to go weekly. Service was absolutely horrible. After sitting down, we saw our girl once in 30 mins. We had to get another girl to bring us water, drinks etc. Se ended up going to the front to get someone else to give us a bill and left. For the price its not worth going anymore.

All good. Tasty food and drinks, affordable. And the staff are great.

Ordered a pizza . 1.5 hours goes by no pizza shows up. So I ask for my bill, and they charge me with a pizza. This was the special of the day that was recommended to me hahaha. What a joke.

The waitress was very pleasant but the beef dip was absolutely terrible, its nothing like it was before the shutdown the beef was almost not visible and the dip was so thin you could see the bottom of the bowl, the curly fries werent homemade and Im sure they were McCains frozen. For a dish that cost $22.50 was disgusting. My wife had a quesadilla which she said was just ok. On thing for sure we wont be visiting this place again, should have went to Wendys instead. I wouldnt recommend any dish they serve now!

Chicken wings with a weird stale flavor (didnt finish) for 19.50 plus 1.50 for sauce ? The waitress didnt speak English, didnt bring water, napkins , bill and tried using a knife to open a twist off bottle of wine . Chicken wings and 1/2 price bottle of wine 32$ Came to 65$!!! Too plant options out there to waste my time and money going back!

I waited 5 mins before asking one of the 4 young women talking to each other if this was self seat None of them even looked at me, yet I noticed 1 of them start to greet people at the door. As I sat, the disrespect continued, waited 3 mins as the 2 bartenders talking to each other didnt even great me. Flagged one down for a beer, flagged a 2nd bartender for the menu and had to flag that same 2nd bartender down to order. TERRIBLE work ethic that didnt change during my stay. Seems like the worth ethic here is, Flag me down if you need something Pizza I ordered is above average for a pub but overall, I would only order it on Saturday when half priced. No offer of pepper flakes or parmesan. Quality check came in after 10min Cool place but the service from majority of the staff was terrible and if I was the owner Id put them all through training or fire them all. Theyd be an embarrassment if it was my establishment. The ONLY TIP I wanted to give is this message to the staff, but I tipped proper out of respect for the owner

Went couple of times and had a great time . Good old school atmosphere with good selection of beers. Its always good at the bar with my spicy cesar. Service of night bartender is amazing too.

I had my retirement party here and it was fabulous. Lexie and her crew managed to keep track of almost 60 people, drinks and food, without anyone ever having to wait for their drinks or any mistakes made I cant say enough about their service at this event. Have also been for meals in much smaller groups, the food and service is consistently great.

Prepare yourself for a wild ride at rivers reach where the river isnt the only thing reaching questionable standards- and the only thing REACHing its potential with this pub was my disappointment. When I asked my server for the specials she looked at me like I had just asked for directions to Atlantis.... maybe she was just hoping Id dissappear- like her enthusiasm for customer service! If your in the mood for pizzas that redefine hand made as made by hands, but not nessisarily skilled ones try one for yourself. Absolutely unpalatable. I ordered a drink and had enough time to start a book club, read 3 novels, and contemplate the meaning of life before my drink arrived fashionably late as if it had been at a spa day rather than a race to quench my thirst. When the Ceasar did arrive it tasted like a misguided attempt to turn a tomato into a beverage! Good luck navigating this shipwreck of a pub because it is clearly drowning! 100/100 would not recommend. Would give it a -5 rating if Google would allow it!

Nachos were very good and the service was excellent

There frequently Tues nights. Wait staff recognize our group and order. Warm, friendly, quiet enough for conversation. Best nachos, guacamole.
