My friend got the shrimp tomato pasta and I got the picnic sampler (can’t remember the exact names on the menu but should be pretty close). My friend said her food tasted ok and was filling; I would say the same too but if you usually eat big portions, the tasting set I got might not be enough for you. The food was OK. Didn’t really find anything too unique or outstanding in terms of flavor etc. Just normal sushi in my humble opinion. It was a cute place but I wish they had some form of service. Everything was self serve when my friend and I got there — had to go up and order, get our own waters etc but as more people arrived while we were eating, I saw staff bringing menus and waters to tables and taking orders so I was confused. But overall not a bad experience, just not anything too special either.
Food is absolutely delicious! Their truffle udon is amazing- chewy and not overly creamy, which is perfect! Their popcorn shrimp has lots of flavours which is interesting every bite! And their sushi sampler is perfect for someone who cant decide! Just that you have to go to the counter to order and prepay before eating, which is why one point was docked 🥲
There was so much anticipation to try out Kioku and everything about it exceeded my expectations. It was a total flavour bomb, bite after bite. The shop is nice and clean and the food comes out quickly. We ordered the Salmon Zukke, Mushroom Truffle Udon and the Sushi Sampler. All the dishes are presented beautifully! I haven’t even finished my meal and I’m already trying to plan when I can get back here!
I've been coming here for the avocado yubu for take out since they opened up and now I've finally had a chance to sit down to order a full meal! Got the truffle mushroom pasta and it was delicious. Super creamy, full of mushrooms and good truffle flavour without overpowering the dish. The prawn popcorn fry is amazingly crispy with little dabs of different sauces and also had battered mushrooms as well. The yubu was delicious as always and ordered the avocado and salmon. My hubby ordered the tomato prawn pasta and it was very refreshing compared to the truffle pasta. We'll come back next time to try the pesto shiso pasta (they ran out this time but another good excuse to come back).

The atmosphere is great! Nice environment and service is excellent. The udon is good! The sauce is excellent, rich in texture and favor, udon is soft and chewy. Next time gonna try the truffle mushroom one. Sushi sampler is good when you have no ideas which one to try, yet it did not match a Hongkonger’s expectation on sushi. The salon was great!
Filling the shoes of AKD Kitchen, my expectations for quality was high. Thankfully, the food met that expectation. The truffle mushroom pasta was a great balance of flavour and not being too heavy. My favourite was the popcorn shrimp. It was my first time trying fried shrimp and it was the perfect ratio of crispy crunch to chewy shrimp. It was complimented extremely well with the salad and sauce. I've also heard lots of great things about their sushi, so I can assure you that they hold a high standard for their food. That alone is worth going for! The unfortunate downside I was willing to forgive (cause of the food😹) was their lack of service. It's a bummer that they don't go out of their way to seat you, provide the menu for you, or refill your drink. I hope that will have changed cause that would benefit customer experience a lot!
The menu at Kioku was truly unique. It wasn’t just your typical sushi; it had a refined and distinctive touch that could only be found at Kioku. I would gladly come all the way to New Westminster, even from a far distance, just to dine at Kioku Kitchen. Even as I write this review, I can’t stop thinking about the food. It was absolutely delicious! Try ‘Kioku Picnic sushi Sampler’. It was amazing🩷

We ordered 2 of the picnic sushi samplers and I m so glad we did because I wouldn t want to share. It was lovely having a taste of multiple different flavours! The space is very open and airy and the employees were friendly and informative as it was our first time here. Will definitely be back to try the truffle mushroom noodles next!

As we were scrolling social media, we saw the food photos and decided to drive 25 minutes to give it a try. It was so delicious! All of the food was prepared with quality ingredients. So fresh If youre looking for a cozy spot with great food at a reasonable price, this dining and cafe place is definitely worth a visit! The flavors are spot-on, and the portion sizes are generous. I really love the atmosphere and vibe of this cozy Japanese fusion place. Its special compared to the neighbouring competition that is a more normal sushi restaurant. The sushi sampler I got is great for an indecisive person like myself. I like how it is order at the front then wait for your order. I can simply leave once Im done, no fuzz, no waiting around!

Ocha zukke and salmon zukke were absolutely delicious. The ocha zukke was such a homey hearty dish and the salmon zukke was a perfect combination of creamy and tangy, and it wasn t fishy at all! I ll definitely be going back

Love the atmosphere. Very cute and relaxing place to eat in New West. The menu is small but everything they have is good. I had the Pesto Shiso and it may be my favorite dish in the area. Vegetarian options: Lot of good vegetarian options. Half of the menu when I went there.
It is my second time here at Kioku. I live nearby so I had to try out this new instagram famous restaurant! I must say the menu items look attractive and creative. I had the picnic sushi sampler last time which tasted pretty good - but debatable whether it justified the 18.95$ price point. Out of the sampler, I liked their oshi the most which was comparable to my old times fav Green leaf sushi.
The servers are very friendly and quick! I love coming here with friends, it s a convenient spot and affordable. I recommend the truffle mushroom noodles!!

Great place. Enjoyed the truffle-parmesan noodles, would consider it one of the best noodles I ve had. They took over a ramen place I used to frequent but they filled that hole with good service and tasty food.

Very nice unique Japanese fusion food with big portions. I stupidly forgot to take pictures, but I m sure other people have done that. It s well worth a visit. Well done! We had the prawn and tomato udon noodles, which was fabulous, and I had the picnic sushi assortment, which was great but too big to finish so I had to share it. You won t leave hungry!

Kioku Kitchen is a small and cute restaurant watching distance from New West Minister Station. The menu is small, but the service was really fast. I would definitely recommend if you like creamy udon. The oshi was also quite big and tasty. I ordered the Truffle Mushroom and Pesto Shiso udon, as well as the Kioku picnic sample platter. I would love to come back.

The vibe was amazing, the salmon that I had was cooked amazingly and was full of flavour yet wasnt overpowered by the soup it was served with.
Ive been here three times now and every time has been phenomenal. Their Mocha is absolutely delicious (which I wasnt expecting tbh). The Salmon Tsukke comes with super thick slices of salmon. The ahi tuna is so gorgeous plated (even when to go!) and is also really really yummy. I havent had the Ocha Tsukke yet because I keep coming back to the marinated salmon, but so far everything Ive had here has been consistently delicious.
I ll give a four / five in food because I still looking forward to my next visit and try out different items! Food is full of new ideas and combinations, give you a fresh taste than ordinary Japanese food. Food

Excellent, quirky, tasty dishes separates Kioku from the rest of the Japanese restaurants in New West. The truffle noodles are killer.
Very average food. They try to upsell their dishes by using fancy terms. For example, calling it a truffle mushroom when its a mushroom udon with drops of truffle oil. Another one is calling it flying fish caviar when they can just say tobiko . Dont be fooled by these terms.

Very cute cafe conveniently located by New West skytrain station! We got the kioku futomaki, salmon oshi, truffle mushroom udon, salmon zukke bowl, egg mentaiko yubu, and salmon yubu. We liked the pasta a lot, there were some deep fried enoki mushrooms that added a really nice texture and flavour! Fast and attentive service with a nice and relaxed interior. Update: the staff gave us a free oshi sampler! was really yummy and nice We like the salmon oshi the best!
The menu for the place is small, but its size is more than made up for by the food quality. I had the salmon zuke and it was exactly what I wanted delightfully savoury, sweet, and rich salmon on a bed of fragrant Japanese rice, topped with a raw egg yolk. It s a nice and cozy place with good service. I ll definitely be back.
This place just opened up recently and I finally got to try it! The staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. I ordered the salmon yubu. It came with lots of fish and rice. Good $ value. Also, ordered the shrimp and tomato pasta. The dish was full of flavour. They did not skimp out on the shrimp meat. Next time I will come back to try pesto Shiso!

I never thought I could eat authentic Ochazuke in Vancouver! ! Its a little far from downtown, but its near the station so I think its easy to come ^^ It was so good experience in Van. I m so impressed to the taste of Ochazuke as a Japanese!!! U should come here at once definitely!!!

This place had been open for a while and the other day my partner and I finally had a chance to visit. The menu was simple, but the food was exceptionally good with aromatic tastes. We also got a free sampler of oshi sushi, which was also very tasty. This is probably the best tasting restaurant in the neighborhood. Would definitely revisit and highly recommend the place.

I had the truffle noodles and they were creamy and delicious. I normally don t review unless I m pissed off but they promised me a free coffee if I left one and it s odd to review when you have nothing to complain about.
The Picnic Sampler is such a great menu item to give each piece of sushi and zubu a try! The biggest highlight was the zubu (inari pockets) that has the most generous filling to rice ratio I ve ever seen! Would definitely recommend asking for a side bowl for eating the zubu as it might fall apart halfway and it s easier to eat it as a mini don then. Portion size was great for the Salmon Zukke, super nice on a cold day. You get your own water and order at the counter, and the staff are super attentive and sweet!

Should ve not tipped.. The food was okay. I ordered the truffle noodles which is not what i expected. theres barely truffle and mostly consist of just MUSHROOM. i fell for that truffle noodle. Next one is my gf s. she ordered pesto noodles which the flavour is too overpowering. theres no balance to it. And lastly the servers. Like, it s not even busy and theres no initiative to refill our water. overpriced food with a below average taste. This place is trying too hard. Overall just a bad experience. It s not worth it. Respectfully saying.

I saw this place from Insta reels and wanted to try the Ocha-zukke cause I only saw it on Japanese Dramas/Animes Actually it was completely different from what I imagined. The food is OUTSTANDING. Its the kind of place you that its worth going All In and order many different items on the menu. You wont be disappointed. You can taste the chefs passion in his dishes, all the small details are tought of to make it a flavorful experience. There was many new flavors for me that I never tasted before. I went with my boyfriend we had the Picnic tray, the Truffle mushroom Udon and the Salmon dish with 2 sodas that are an absolute must try! Food was extremely fresh, the service was fantastic, ambiance is nice; we will definitely be back!
I had the Pesto Shiso and 2 Yubus which costed me about $25. For the price, it didn t made me full and I wish there were more udon since I was left with a lot of sauce.

I got the Salmon Zukke Bowl, Salmon Oshi & Ebi Oshi. The fish was very fresh! The soy marinade is super good. Loved the fried Perilla Leaf (wish there was more!) Definitely like the Salmon more than the Ebi. Same as nother reviewer: the ebi layer was quite thin. Flavour was good though. Didnt end up using the wasabi as the bowl had enough flavour. Might be a good habit to ask not to add it next time just for personal preference to avoid waste. The pickled veg on the side is a fun pairing (I love pickled things, also nice for digestion) Generally 5 stars, but mainly 4 stars for price. Its a bit pricey but quality is great. Will have to try some other things next time. Would try again but not often due to price. Nice addition to the neighbourhood!
It was nice to be able to try a variety of Japanese fusion dishes. I was especially impressed by the taste of the truffle cream pasta, ochazuke, and salmon rice bowl. I would like to visit again soon. May you prosper!
Food independent of everything else tasted good, and looked nice. Pay at counter is very clunky. There was no service besides dropping off the food at the table. Tip options start at 15%, so having known this I wouldve skipped the tipping up-front as you pay before getting food. Pay extra 50 cents to get any drink iced doesnt make sense to upcharge. I think this place could do better if they were more service forward, or just change to a no service model. [Reply to owner reply:: tip = for service. No confusion there]
Its really delicious here. I want to come again next time. The staff is so nice and its really delicious.
The salmon bowl was really good! The sushi sampler though was very bland, especially the inari. The texture was also very mushy which I personally didn t enjoy.

Happy we finally got to try this restaurant. Food was good, I liked the food here and would come back again! This restaurant replaced our other favourite ramen place called AKD Kitchen.
This is a must-visit place. First of all, the food is incredibly delicious, and you can enjoy unique and different menu options. The restaurant is clean, and the staff service is excellent. Theres no need for further explanation just come, and you wont regret it!
