It was closed for a while so I couldnt go. I went back after it reopened, and it was still delicious and the atmosphere was even better! The ingredients are so fresh and the price is reasonable

The perfect balance of quality and price, Sanjo is my goto for Sushi in New Westminster. 10/10 and will be my goto weekly Sushi order, this place is uplifting the New Westminster sushi scene! My only advice would be to work on allergy friendly wording in the menu, and a few modifications to bring in a new customer base (gluten free/vegan/nut free)

Amazing rolls and super friendly service. A gem in the heart of New Westminster. Their special was truffle beef roll was superbly unique and delicious. We had the salmon sashimi, New West roll, paradise roll, negitoro roll, beef truffle roll, tuna tataki salad, ebi sunomono and Tako sunomono. Everything tasted fresh and the decor was pleasing for a small location. This is my new go to!

Cozy Japanese restaurant! I ordered a fantastic roll, one other roll, and fried udon! It was delicious!! I wanted a California roll, so I ordered a fantastic roll, and the fried food on top went well with it! The other roll, whose name I forgot, tasted like bulgogi, and it was delicious too! Tempura udon comes with 2 shrimp and 2 sweet pumpkins, and the Japanese style tempura is the best It was crunchy and delicious~ The store is small, but it would be okay for 2-4 people to go, and more than anything, it would be comfortable to eat alone And I was even more thankful that the clerk took good care of me!

The Kappa & salmon maki was OK, nothing special. The beef teriyaki less so - I dont know what that was. The gyoza looked like dried up fortune cookies with garlic-heavy pork filling and the miso tasted like powdered soup. Our take-out bill was 40 bucks. Cannot recommend.

The special inari they have were amazing. When they served them to us, both me and my Japanese wife both let out a Woah! First time there and I couldnt believe we had missed this gem in our neighborhood for this long...... We found a new sushi favorite since moving away from Gastown:) Vegetarian options: They had a good amount of veggy/vegan options, and when asked, they had something I was interested in but couldnt have they made exceptions and altered it for me. Dietary restrictions: They made sure I had options to eat and would do whatever they could to help me be satisfied. Kid-friendliness: They were sweet to my daughter and made her quite happy there; gave her a pink plate and were very very friendly.

Usually they did a good job with the sashimi. Tonight, there were bones in a couple pieces of sashimi.

Ive heard great things about this establishment. My wife decided to order from Sanjo tonight. Unfortunately the takeout we had tasted as if it had sat out in the sun. The Shrimp, salmon, tuna, and even the crab filling all tasted like it had gone bad. We called in to advise them and were given a full refund. 2 stars for great customer service. I hope they figure out the food situation though

Sometimes I ordered deluxe sashimi. Todays lunch was the best day ever. Sashimi was all fresh, especially the salmon and tuna. Decoration is wonderful and wasabi is delucious. I was very satisfied today.

Because the price was cheap, I thought the portions wouldnt be enough so I ordered oshi and two rolls, but it was a bit too much for me to eat alone. Best value for money!! I went to eat alone, but the restaurant was small so I didnt feel pressured and the service was good :) The staff were so friendly!! I paid and was about to leave, but oshi was also on sale, so I left even more pleasant! If you are looking for a delicious sushi restaurant in New West, I highly recommend it.

Ordered for a pick up. Servers were super friendly. Impressed by the presentation. Stars of the order were BC roll and ebi oshi. Havent seen a lot of restaurants serving King Salmon Sashimi, so this was definitely a plus. Will go and dine in next time.

This place is amazing! First time there and I had the best roll (spicy tuna roll deep fried) I have ever eaten. I recently moved from New West to Nanaimo and this will now be a destination anytime I am over on the mainland. Go eat here.

Awesome little restaurant with super friendly staff. I had a tiny bit of a wait, and the staff was super apologetic and threw in some free miso with my meal. I didnt even feel like it was that long of a wait too, haha. Foods great as well.

I ordered take-out at this restaurant & the food was terrible! The dynamite roll mainly consisted of hard gristle. The prawn was more like a small shrimp. The yam was a thin(1/8) inch strip, again covered with gristle. I might as well have went out for fish & chips!

This is a solid Korean run Japanese restaurant in New West. Prices are reasonable, and their food tastes great. Our server was friendly and courteous. (As an aside, there was a customer beside us that mis-ordered their food, and was very rude about it, but the waitress kept her cool, and still treated them respectfully, so much respect to that waitress!). My friend and I split four rolls: House Roll, Victor Roll, Vancouver Island Roll, and Ebi Roll. All rolls tasted great, but two stood out: the Victor Roll (yam tempura inside, avocado and togarashi aioli outside) was surprisingly tasty and affordable, being a vegetarian roll; and the Vancouver Island Roll for having torched scallops on top. In the end, the bill came out to be about $20 per person. Highly recommend this place! Vegetarian options: Their Victor Roll (yam tempura with avocado on the outside) is tasty, and good bang for buck at $10 a roll.

Had an amazing meal here tonight. My Mom and I were looking to have sushi and we picked this restaurant as another one was closed and this had good reviews. Very happy the other restaurant wasn t available. We both forgot how much we love sushi, and were spoiled by the dishes we had. We shared the favourite Crazy Girl Roll, and we could understand why it is so popular. The flavour is incredible! I had the half order of the Salmon & Tuna Sashimi, which had almost 2 ounces of each fish. And my Mom tried the Chrunchy Roll, which she loved. The service was awesome and the restaurant itself was nice. We ll definitely be back to try the Oshi and a few other rolls. Thanks again for a lovely dinner!

Best bento boxes ever. I came here two weekends in a row. PERFECT deep fry on everything we had (agedashi tofu, tempura, chicken teriyaki). Everything had a clean amount (not drenched) of sauce. The fish and rice were fresh. Hope the quality stays because we will keep coming back for this!

My friend and I ordered take out for our hang out and it was great! The prices were reasonable, and the starters we got were delicious :) Online i wasn t able to find pictures for some of the items and the tofu we got wasn t really my cup of tea, but my friend finished it and said it was great Vegetarian options: On Uber eats I was able to see the vegetarian or vegan sticker on some of their dishes, that helped me find the options I wanted

The food was good. The only thing was I or ordered the food for 730 pm a few hours before and when I arrived to pick up my food at 720. The food was already out on the table waiting for me. Which meant who knows how long the food was out getting cold and when I got home which was a 7 min walk. The tempura, rice and beef was cold. They have good food when it s warm. I would make sure if someone wants to order before hand it will be out at that time and not before

We enjoyed the assorted sushi offered here. It was our first experience with sushi and we were glad that we got different types of sushi to try out. The service was good and I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoyed having sushi or similar seafood dishes.

I was very disappointed to discover that they charged for to go containers. Its one thing to recommend that customers bring their own but if that is not possible at the time then I 100% believe it is a cost of doing business. They should not transfer that cost to the customer; and worse make a profit. I have many friends and acquaintances in the business. Fortunately, I did have my own carry bag for all the containers; but was charged 25 cents each for the food containers. Its unlikely I will be back.

We ate here after wading through reviews for the many sushi places near where we were staying. Never judge a book by its cover rings true in this instance. We saw the exterior of the shopfront from across the road and I was initially put off the idea that it may be any good, however, we had just spent half an hour trying to decide on a place and our other option was a 30 minute walk away. We were too hungry for that! Inside has been fit out nicely - its modern and bright. More importantly, its clean! Staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is well priced for the portions. Im glad that we chose Sanjo Sushi on this occasion and would definitely recommend it.

I stopped into Sanjo because the place I usually go to was closed, and the speciality inari nigiris they had caught my eye! The atmosphere was clean and bright and the service was quick and friendly. The music selection (alternating between pop dance + lo-fi) I found a little odd, though that could just be my preference of lower key music in brighter restaurants like this one. I was immediately served tea, and ordered the crunch dynamite roll, agedashi tofu and 4 of the inari nigiri (beef, California, tamago, avocado) The Crunch Dynamite Roll had a great combination of flavors, but the shock of the crab being very cold and the crunch flakes being slightly chewy took away from that a bit. The Agedashi Tofu was different from what Im used to, normally being served in the sauce broth but at Sanjo they give a small amount of sauce on the side, but the lower quantity of sauce was made up for in the seasoning add to the tofus breading, it didnt need as much sauce for that reason. I very much enjoyed it. The inari were admittedly larger than I expected, so definitely worth their prices, but I found them a little difficult to eat, falling apart pretty quickly after the first bite. My favorite was the beef, the ratio between the sauce and ingredients were perfect. The California I found disappointing, there was just too much crab. The Tamago was alright but the egg was quite flavorless. The Avocado I ended up taking home because they were much more filling than I expected! All in all it was a good experience, and I look forward to returning to try some of their other dishes! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options available! Kid-friendliness: A family with kids came in while I was there and they were friendly and accommodating Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on street front with no steps and any of the chairs can be moved to accommodate mobility aids

Kitchen was very busy with takeout which made for a longer wait than I initially anticipated (nothing excessive). But serving staff were very communicative upfront and consistently apologetic, even bringing out some berries and miso soup on the house while I waited. I ve been here many times but never during peak dinner hours until tonight. The way the serving staff handled things during the rush in the kitchen was really the icing on the cake for my opinion on this place. With so much competition with sushi restaurants in NW, many with good food and prices, it s the excellent customer service that makes this one stand out from the rest for me.

All the food was so fresh and it tasted amazing. I raved about it to my friends because i was so shocked about the amazing price and great tasting food. Amazing service, FRESH and delicious! I came in around 12pm for takeout and asked to put it in a big tray because it was dinner for my mothers (50th) birthday! It was quite busy. I came back, the server was, AMAZING and FRIENDLY, she took the time out to write a very cute note!!! My mom was very joyful. She loves tuna and I ordered everything that contain tuna. she said. Unfortunately I cannot upload a video but it was delicious! Very proud to have come here to order. Thank you guys! For sure coming back here!

I love this place!!! I had lunch specials today it was huge amount! Quality of food were so good. Especially i loved the egg pudding ? That tastes like pudding and egg soooo nice. Oshi also good too I loved the server too she is soooo nice and friendly. Ive been here few months ago and i guess they changed their menu. I loved so much. It s so easy to see and know what they are.

I did two hours of research because there is no decent suchi place near burnaby/coquitlam. But this was it! Love the decoration on party tray (no charges), quality, and presentation! Also the price is very reasonable and this would definitely cost way more in downtown. Thanks!

I love this place! The chicken teriyaki roll is immaculate honestly, I dont fail to get it every time. The food always comes quickly, is plated nicely and the restaurant itself is small but neatly organized and always clean. The staff are very nice aswell. I was all excited to try it out for my birthday and even scheduled my order hours in advance. However, my order was canceled 15 minutes before the scheduled arrival time. So UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Now I am hungry and have to wait for another hour to get my food from another restaurant. Thanks for making my birthday so SPECIAL!!!

Everything we ordered was great, we had the beef teriyaki, appetizer Tempura, salmon sashimi and dynamite roll. The service was good as well, the only drawback was we couldnt try more things as we were full. Would recommend if you like sushi or Japanese food. Will surely go there many more times.

Food is very mediocre

I ate sushi very often at this sushi restaurant. Because this restaurant is near my home and work place. But when I went to this restaurant not long ago, I was shocked. And I didnt want to go to this restaurant again. The servers and cooks were judging the appearance of customers and evaluating the age of customers in their language and talking behind customers backs. I was very uncomfortable. A lady customer took out the food. Then the server evaluated the ladys face. The server said that the customers face is very old for her age. Cook asked server how she knew. The customer whose face was evaluated by the server was a regular customer of the restaurant, and she said she knew the exact age because she looked her vaccine ID and photo ID card. Then cook agreed to the servers evaluation. And continued to evaluate other peoples faces. Looks ugly things like that.;; I was so unpleasant as a person who understood their language. Of course, they can go to their own places and talk about such things. However, I dont think its right to say like that. They seemed to say so, convinced that the customers would not understand what they were saying. Im sure the next target was me. I wont go to this restaurant because I dont want them to evaluate my appearance/face/age/how I eat. If you dont mind them evaluating your appearance/age/face, doesnt matter if you go. You wont understand what theyre saying anyway, so it wont hurt your feelings. Or if you look perfect, I recommend this restaurant.

It was my first time here and everything was tasty-excellent! I ordered a dynamite roll, a double yam roll, and goma-ae. Each item was delicious, well-prepared, and seemed to have a little extra oomph to make these standard dishes above-ordinary. The dynamite roll had a good helping of masago, the double yam roll was decadent, and the goma-ae was delicious with a slice of fresh lemon to squeeze on top. I will be back!

The waiter told us wait-time is about 40 min and we would receive a call from him when the table is ready for us. We went back to the restaurant after 45 min of waiting without a call, saw a couple were just seated to a 4 seats-table. The waiter managed to switch the couple to another table and gave us the table. The food was not too bad.

Fantastic little spot in Uptown! I had the veggie lunch Bento ($14) and a spicy tuna roll ($5.50) and both were excellent. The teriyaki tofu had great toothsome texture and the sauce was wonderfully balanced with peppery notes to balance out the sweetness. The spicy tuna roll also had great flavour - properly spicy, but with a hint of sweetness to balance it out too. Would absolutely return!

Delicious sushi and friendly staff! There was a bit of a wait for a table around 1pm but it was only 5-10 mins! ^_^)) (lunch rush!!) I got spicy salmon roll, and 5 different nigiri~ my favorite nigiri was the chopped scallop, it tasted slightly sweet from the scallop and had masago mixed in ! The Ikura inari was yummy too, the big salmon roe on top were satisfying to eat as they popped and the savoury taste mixed with the rice and inari ^. ^ I also tried tako wasabi and I put extra wasabi on top and then immediately had tears welling up in my eyes woops, may have overdid it! But it was tasty! I want to come back to try more of the rolls! I saw many of the other guests order bentos and they looked like a wonderful lunch set!

This place looks recently renovated. Everything inside looks new and clean! And it was easy for me to choose what to eat because of photos in the menu. My favorite dish was mentaiko cream udon. It was really creamy and well-cooked. I was looking for this much creamy flavor for a long time. And deep fried shrimp was also great. It was freshly fried, and shrimp was so meaty. However, Salmon sashimi was thin, and Wasabi was somehow lightly flavored. I mixed a lot of Wasabi with soy sauce but it was still light. Nigiris were okay, but still, Wasabi was so light..it did not make them more flavorful. Sexy Salmon roll was good and big portion. I love the crunchy things on the top. However, I did not like the Salmon skin inside. It was bit fishy for me. Next time, I will visit for more cooked cuisines.

I cant believe Ive driven past this so many times. This place is so much better than the other ones in New west. Had the chicken teriyaki bento box and the dragon roll. You can tell how much they care by the take out food presentation. Other places I get rolls squished in a container. Here they garnish it just like you were eating in. Everything was excellent and it was ready for pick up in less than 20. Be back very soon! Second visit: Tried the BC roll and the tuna on fire roll. The BC roll shocked me! The amount of salmon in that thing for 5.95!? The tuna on fire roll was nice and spicy. First time I didnt have to put more Sriracha on a roll lol! 15 minutes for pick up this time and once again not just thrown together.

Ton Ton sushi is definitely a local favourite. Grabbed lunch with the kids and tried their speciality rolls and some classic eats. Lots to try. Definitely will need to come back to go through the other offerings

Modern and contemporary designed restaurant. Suhi rice is soft and chewy. Food presentation is great. It seems they use high quality ingredients. One incident we had when I took a vegetarian friend here. She ordered the Spicy Adegashi Tofu without knowing it will come with fish flakes. Only the regular Adegasghi Tofu item has ingredient description so she could tell there is fish flake. Maybe her bad as there was no the veggie sign but apparently other sushi places she went to, they didnt put fish flakes. The chef guy just quietly took the dish away then later brought out a new one without fish flakes. Mmm, say something or be friendly a bit lol

On first impressions I was not impressed but I see that other people have enjoyed the food here so I will give it a 4 as opposed to the 3 I would probably have rated it. The service was great and its a nice clean restaurant. However, the raw fish was off . Their basic sushi was fine, good quality seaweed and good ratio of fish to rice. Now, other ingredients werent that fresh either and I thought the flavors of some things were just below what Ive had at other places. I do enjoy the free tea that is offered and the value point is about average.

Sanjo sushi is one of the best sushi restaurants in New Westminster. I tried tempura udon, crunch rolls, nigiri, and oshi and I was surprised to find that all came in with premium quality and freshness. In addition, the staff members are super friendly, approachable, and provide a top-notch customer service. If you have sushi cravings, check this place out as they are on top of everything for sushi. I will definitely return. Kudos to the team Sanjo!

Small portion for the price of sushi.i spend 50 bucks on rolls and nigiri and im still hungry had to buy macdonalds after...sanjo sushi your a letdown...ton ton use to be better till you showed up..step up your game...

The freshness of the food has changed since it s been renamed to sanjo. I had this place three times to back up my claim. It is just not the same anymore. I had to spit out my California roll because it tasted awful and rotten. The fish has a fishy smell.

Very friendly, clean staff. So much energy in this place. Everything on the menu is high quality but the Alaska roll & Caterpillar roll are a must order. Feels good supporting family run businesses

My favourite Japanese restaurant in the neighbourhood. Arguably the best in town. My go to dish is the Creamy Mentaiko Udon. I highly recommend it.

Sushi rice is not well seasoned. Ordered $100 worth food with a request of extra ginger but received no ginger, only a small portion of wasabi.

Well managed place Exquisite taste and great service

When they first opened I thought the food was exceptional. The last two times I ordered I was disappointed. The quality has definitely gone down the portions are smaller and they have taken a couple of my favorite items off the menu. Tonight I did pickup and the guy ahead of me was complaining about his last order too. Such a shame

Tonton sushi is a valued addition to our neighborhood. Our previous favorite sushi place was an 1/2 hour drive each way. Tonton sushi is now our favorite place for the quality of the sushi and it is right around the corner. The owner and staff are friendly and efficient. They are always busy and they deserve the success they are enjoying.

Nov.7,2021 went there for 50% off order and so did whole bunch of other people. Lined up 15 minutes before opening and 30 people were ahead of us. Opened at 12 noon and we got to the order cashier in 75 minutes. 45 minutes to prepare our order. Ate at home and enjoyed every bit of it. Good set up routine this time by Ton Ton.
