2893 Broadway, New York, NY 10025, United States
Cafe with healthy emphasis on organic New American fare plus vegetarian choices & a full bar.
Was greeted by a warm flood of sunlight filling the space, casting a welcoming glow that immediately set a positive tone. The ambiance was undeniably charming—a blend of natural light and thoughtful decor that seemed designed to offer diners a comforting respite. However, glancing over, I couldn’t help but notice an unsightly stack of chairs in the corner, a detail that momentarily broke the otherwise polished setting. Service was attentive, with staff offering courteous and prompt assistance upon request. Yet, when it came to the cuisine, I found myself underwhelmed. For a restaurant of such acclaim, I expected a culinary journey marked by creativity and bold flavors. Instead, each dish, though adequately prepared, felt surprisingly ordinary, lacking the refinement and depth that would elevate the experience from pleasant to truly memorable. The coffee, too, was unexpectedly disappointing, perhaps among the most uninspiring I’ve encountered in New York—a surprising flaw for an establishment of this caliber. While there are undeniable charms here, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the restaurant’s reputation has outpaced its reality, leaving me to wonder if the journey was justified.
Overall a disappointment. The restaurant was very cold despite us sitting inside and our food took a long time to be served. The burger was dry and tasteless, and charging $2 for a slice of cheese is ridiculous. The fries were cut far too small, the coleslaw and pickle were both dry. We have heard good things about the breakfast service at this restaurant, so perhaps this is just not a good dinner place.
I went there based on Michelin Guide this is one of the best breakfast place - The waffle was amazingly tasty and the coffee was pretty good as well.
not worth it - hash browns are just boiled potatoes - chips are reheated and soggy - cappuccino is foamy and rushed - sausages are cold - rushed service and yet also long wait - hamburger very mediocre but nice location i guess
Community, for those who didn’t already know, is the sister restaurant to the famous Clinton Street Baking Co. whose pancakes continually topped the charts in the NYC. So naturally, the brunch menu is pretty bulletproof (especially the pancakes). I tried their brunch twice, and dinner menu twice, and all the time the food is good. Not as memorable as some of the iconic brunch restaurants but you got your money’s worth. Focus on the most recent dinner here: Appetizer: Bowl of Beets The name suggests simplicity, yet the flavors it delivered were more complicated and in depth. These are fresh beets with whipped goat cheese, toasted pistachios, and topped with balsamic vinegar reductions. I asked the reduction to be on the side as I am a dipper (like to dip things) who adjust my own sauciness. The ingredients were fresh, and it happened to be the beet season so the beets were naturally sweeter. The goat cheese is creamy and accompanied well with the beets and the nutty aroma of crunchy pistachios. The balsamic reduction is tangy and that acidity balances the dish. Entrees: Pan-seared salmon Crispy skin with tender interior. The portion is great (the fish is bigger than I imagined). I changed the sides from mashed potato to green beans. The green beans are a little undercooked, and both the beans and the spinach are on the saltier side. I asked to have the glaze on the side because i want to taste the salmon and I don’t like overly sweetened fish. The glaze is a bit less ginger forward than I wanted, tastes more sweet than savory. Maryland Crab cakes Two fist-sized crab cakes with a ton of crab meat paired with GBD waffle fries and herby mayo underneath. This is the perfect bowl of comfort food if you are craving warmth. The crab cakes can be a bit stuffy due to crab meat density, but this is not a complaint as who doesn’t want more crabs in their crab cake. The fries are crispy and tantalizing on the tongue, perfect with mayonnaise sauce they provided. The lemon aids to counterbalance the flavor, and to offsets any possible greasiness. Our server did a great job to accommodate my requests, which I do appreciate. Yet the service isn’t the best. The water initially took forever to come and the check took a little while too. Overall, the food, the value, and the proximity (near Columbia campus) deserve neighborhood people a re-visit.
Community is a wonderful neighborhood spot. Amazing breakfast lunch and dinner. Highly recommend!
Awesome place, good food and friendly service. What more do you expect ? As it is far from the touristy part of Manhattan, you feel more the Upper West Side ambiance as local. Give it a shot if you are close… or far !
Stopped here for a quick bite to eat before heading to a Columbia women's basketball game. Although a bit pricey, the food was fresh and delicious. At the time that we went, it was surprisingly not crowded. The place was clean, roomy, and well lit with decor that made you feel at home. Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful.
I ordered the waffle and chicken sausage. Sounded good. The waffle was OK, a bit bready, nothing special. But it was served on the cool side and covered with whipped cream with raspberry syrup in a way that quickly made it cold. The maple/butter syrup sounded good, but was meh and also made it cold. The sausages were inedible sawdust glued together. Add in an OK hot chocolate and charge over $44. No way I ll come back. Any diner would serve better food for half the price.
Great restaurant! Amazing food and spectacular service!
Today I ordered a single burger for takeout during lunch and was told it would take 15-20 minutes. I proceeded to wait a total of 45 minutes for a single burger and tried to kindly be patient with waiting staff and kitchen staff reminding them along the way. After eating the burger, I feel immensely sick, cannot digest it, and am feeling nauseous. When I ate the burger, it wasn t particularly bad tasting in any way but ever since 2pm today I have been fighting the urge to vomit and think I have some sort of food issue with the burger.
Good food, very friendly staff. Despite this, what I presume is a manager chased us outside the restaurant to warn us in an impolite tone and to attack us to leave a tip next time. I would like to remind you that it is an American custom and an overthinking foreign tourist may not think about it (which is what happened, completely involuntarily). Education, on the other hand, is global.
cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and yummy brunch! I recommend the pancakes!
One of my favourites - some of the best pancakes in the city!
Wonderful venue to sample street life, student hustle and bustle. Fast and efficient service, consistently fresh, wholesome and tasty food items. Good tap beers and cocktails.
Food is great Delivery is perfect
Our server Diego gave the best recommendations !
Im done. I walked out of community last night without even ordering. I cant even talk about it. But the place had gone downhill in terms of food and the service/hosts/etc are just rude in a way that indicates that management approves. Its noisey and crowded -- except thats fake. It was about 1/3 full and they just squeezed everyone together so it seemed crowded.
The food is alright, nothing special on the menu and not special in preparation. The only outstanding item is their Mac and cheese, but be careful as the quality when it s delivered vs. ordered in person, sitting down is very different. The service here is wonderful, you re never left waiting on anything. If any confusion occurs, it s all handled very well, and they always allow adjustments to menu items. A very nice, UWS atmosphere, albeit a bit crowded due to nearby restaurants are college area.
A nice place for brunch near Columbia, I think their bread is delicious.
Great food ,delivered promptly. All good!
Eggs Benedict was very sad. 20$ for two poached eggs on crumbling dough it s no side at all included is a rip off. Tasted like nothing and made me feel a bit sick. If you order something definitely get a bowl or sandwich of sorts, those are much heftier.
Dietary restrictions: They always accommodate my severe peanut allergy very well Food
I enjoyed the Sesame Salmon Bowl.
I came here by accident. I had every intention of going into Le Monde next door, but spatial awareness, apparently, isnt my strong suit. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try. The space is large and would make for a great group event. Ordered the guacamole tostada and felt like it was missing some salt. The tostada felt gimmicky. It didnt add anything and chips would have been fine. We ordered the Steak Frites, and they were okay. They had ribs as a special menu item for Saturdays and it was horrible. The ribs were drenched in a sauce that was way too acidic. I didnt finish them. Our server came out and brought Korean chicken wings by accident, and we asked to keep them anyway. They were good. They tasted very similar to Bonchon chicken. We werent charged for the chicken. All in all, the place was okay-ish. I hope that it was an off night. Will go back and give them another chance.
Restaurant was really pretty and the host was great. The blueberry basil lemonade was a 10/10 and the soft scrambled eggs with tomato jam were fantastic.
if they say the kitchen is backed up or if they look really busy, it isnt worth the wait. After 15 minutes of waiting for a table, it took over an hour for the food to come out.
A full Sunday breakfast, good food and better service. Highly recommended. A pool-sized cafe, what you need for a long Sunday ahead
The peanut chicken chop salad is one of the favourite salads in the city. It is flavoursome and filling. This restaurant is a great, local spot on the UWS.
Excellent food, comfortable atmosphere.
The staff is awesome Food is overpriced for what you get and the quality. Poor but it s by Columbia, it s possible that this is someone s norm. I would never come here again or advise anyone else. Food : 1/5
Nice food. Very slow and poor service. Also noisy Food
Vegetarian options: The veggie sandwich and tofu bowl are great. Food
Amazing service. The food was delicious.
great neighborhood place - comfortable and tasty, satisfying food.
One of the best places for breakfast I tried the blueberry pancakes ( it was heaven) The egg Benedict was yummy as well Food : 5/5
Love the beet salad!
I wonder if they want to kick me out quickly... The service is not good. The fish sandwich is delicious
Good food and friendly staff Parking: Avoid the car Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, the restaurant is on the ground floor
It is a lovely place with a peaceful atmosphere. And the food is gooooood! I am from Mexico originally and I finally found a place with very good huevos rancheros! Served with tasty non-greasy homemade tortillas, fresh salsa, and zero cheese (like the Mexican gods intended) just delicious overall. Great place for a nice meal and catching up with friends.
Good happy hour deals but great menu otherwise!
I live downtown, but I was in the nabe for a visit. Lunch here convinced me that its 100% worth the trek uptown for another meal.
Home delivery of food always guarantees a five star for atmosphere Seriously, the consistency of food quality, interesting takes on classic breakfast dishes and a reliable delivery makes Community Food a first choice! My deliverer was professional, verbally competent and prompt! Parking: It s Manhattan, N.Y.! Old buildings, tight side streets, oppressive/confusing NYC signs on major streets and no on site parking. Take a cab or pubic transportation unless you want to park blocks away, get a ticket or use $15-$30 per hour garage.
Mediocre food for high price. Not as healthy as it seems. Server did not seem to care about my diet and needs, never checked on me or the food. I wish I went to spend 35 dollars for two eggs, bacon and a salad somewhere else.
Scallop going bad! medium steak becomes well done, soft and wet French fries, extremely dried chickens, 10 dollar for a lemonade, and kinda enforced least of 20% tips. The only good thing about this place is that the environment looks clean. Expensive food in the worst quality, and unqualified cook for most of the dishes. PLEASE AVOID!
Simple, hearty fare; excellent service; relaxed though bustling atmosphere.
The food was fresh and tasty, the staff was kind and accommodating, and the energy was enjoyable for an unexpected breakfast stop. I look forward to visiting again.
Very good place for breakfast
I am a local for this place, and I have to say, everytime I come here they do not disappoint. Their Mac and cheese is to die for, and their burger is even better. I have been ordering here three times a week for the past ten years. I sadly had to end my streak 2 years ago on November ninth due to my ongoing brain surgery. Even through hardships community has always been there for me, especially their biscuits! SKIBIDI.
Great service and yummy!
Excellent (but pricey) food. I upgraded from the pastrami on rye to the reuben, and had perhaps the most flavorful and tender toasted pastrami sandwich I have yet experienced outside a delicatessen. Atmosphere is relaxed, chill, and hip. Service was friendly and efficient, but the fairly long (20+ minutes) wait for our food was a little ridiculous given how unbusy the dining room was when we visited.
Typical breakfast and sandwich food style. Food is average and pricey. Staff is not responsive. Service can be better.
On my first visit to CFJ, I imagined a morning working from CFJ and eating pancakes and drinking a matcha latte. However, this quickly changed upon learning that they do not sell matcha lattes, only coffee and tea bags (aren t we past only catering to coffee drinkers? and tea bags vs loose leaf tea?) After ordering my plain pancakes, I opened up my laptop only to find out that they don t offer WiFi. I m assuming this is their method to reduce the number of people idling and taking up tables. So unfortunate. The pancakes were mid. Next time, I ll try them with blueberries and on a day I don t need WiFi and after drinking a matcha latte at home.
Great service, delicious options, outside dining
Tasty food at upper west side prices. Most people come for the breakfast menu which is outstanding
I ve been here before for lunch and tried the brunch menu this time. The waiter offered me the special (i forgot the name but it was nachos with avocado, sunny-side eggs and cheese). It tasted amazing. (Paid 33$ for dish and a Latte and I think that s okay for New York prices and the quality of food I got) Would definitely come here again.
Awesome spot to get brunch with friends! Menu with a lot of options, super friendly staff, and the best ambiance (plus bottomless coffee)!
Perfect place with a wonderful staff ready to help you with everything!
My experience is always positive!
Exceptional food and great service! A bit too loud inside for me. Patio outside was cute and better for me.
Good tasting restaurant. I ordered the country breakfast which was good, just different. Firstly, the carrot hash was more like a fried potato mash. Good but misleading. Secondly, the biscuit was not soft, fresh, nor flavorful enough but still good. Thirdly, the eggs were perfect. Also helped to have a easy on the eyes waiter. Overall good experience, but names need adjusting as the plate seemed healthier than I would consider a country breakfast.
I really didn t know what to expect when I came to this restaurant. Mostly because I never knew about this restaurant until I saw it mentioned by The Carboholic on Instagram. She named this restaurant as one of the places to find the best pancakes in New York. That was the main reason I came here for brunch. I was pleasantly surprised how busy it was but it wasn t rowdy or noisy and I was able to get a table easily when I came in. I liked how the ambiance was very family friendly. The service I received from the staff was excellent. They very kind and prompt. When I saw the menu I told myself that I m definitely coming back because there were so many things I wanted to try. The latte I ordered was delicious. I loved how cute the foam art was. The Carboholic was right about the pancakes. They were very yummy. Fluffy but not dry. I love that this restaurant serves breakfast/lunch until 3:30pm everyday. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone because I, myself would definitely come back here from time to time. I m so glad this restaurant exists.
Got the sausage and eggs brunch dish: chicken sausage was dry and bland, hash browns were bland, eggs were fine, and sour dough bread was mediocre $18 dollars for a meal better served by McDonalds
The best brunch spot by Columbia Universitys campus. I loved the blueberry pancakes with warm maple butter and the brioche french toast. The biscuits are awesome too. Carrot hashbrowns are just ok. Overall yummy brunch.
Community has become my groups spot whenever there is a birthday or special occasion. Being near the Columbia campus and catering to many dietary needs we never leave unsatisfied. The options for meals vary widely so there is something for everyone and compared to prices in the area they compare around the same. The atmosphere is cool and relaxed and the service has always been very kind and knowledgeable about where the food is sourced and what is good. I recommend reserving before going, especially if you are a larger group and or going later in the evening as they can be fairly busy.
Food here was delicious! We had blueberry pancakes, bacon, eggs, and sesame salmon bowl. Perfect portions and filling. The pancakes were fluffy and came with additional blueberries on top. The maple butter syrup is out of this world. I will be returning!
Really good food near Columbia University. The burger is amazing!
Ive really been enjoying this spot for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Great food and very friendly service. Not inexpensive, but I feel like Ive been getting my moneys worth. I wouldnt mind seeing more beer options, but thats a very minor point this place is about high quality food.
Very pleasant experience. Trout Almandine and Guacamole appetizer were delicious. The coffee drinks were very good. Very friendly and attentive service. Ill definitely return.
Great for brunch!
Best place for breakfast on the UWS, and among the best in NYC! Blueberry pancakes and Country Breakfast are super!
Great food with plenty of variety for a solid lunch or dinner option. Service is good and the atmosphere is energetic and friendly.
My eggs Benedict were decent. My sons salmon burger was very bland. Everyone loved the raspberry jam on their toast. Might have been a few bucks on the high side of price for what we received.
Really love their fish sandwich, my favourite. Each time I m here, I will order this. The pickled fennel is what made the sandwich perfect
Delicious brunch!
very nice place. good vibes and atmosphere. i thought the food was nothing spectacular for the price we paid. pancakes for $18 is crazy to me. chicken sausage was a bit dry. good flavors with the sauces and jams they serve. Kid-friendliness: high chairs available
Sea food dish and salad was very tasty. Will return!!
The pancakes were great. We ordered blueberry pancakes. We also ordered the Eggs-Benedict Florentine. The biscuit was super stale unfortunately. The spinach could have been flavored/seasoned in some way. I do not recommend that dish. We shared our feedback with our waiter and he did not appear to care, so it seems unlikely that he would share this with the cook/owner/kitchen staff. I dont recall the waiter sharing his name but he could benefit from being more approachable/friendly. He did not seem happy at all about serving us. This sort of vibe is pretty hard to disguise so THAT was pretty visible to detect, for me. Vegetarian options: Pancakes and Eggs Florentine but make sure that biscuit isnt stale, before they serve it up. Kid-friendliness: We had our 6-month old daughter with us and the woman who greeted us immediately offered us a high-chair.
Love this place! Great food. Great brunch vibe!
The best pancakes ever
I ate it for lunch. There is volume.
Ok, but really expensive for what you get.
Expensive American style food, attempting upmarket versions of diner classics. If you order pancakes and want syrup they charge extra.
Kind of typical food, but pretty consistent.
Had an omelet and felt that the flavor was very bland and egg was dry/flat, even though the ingredients I chose would have added a lot of flavor. May go back and try something else on the menu.
Very tasty grilled-salmom burger. Excellent service too!
A cafe where many Columbia University students gather. Although it was a cafe, there was a wide variety of food available.
Definite community vibe. Food was especially delicious as well. Would definitely go there again. Great value for the buck.
Healthy brunch items
No fault brunch. Consistently good. $90 for 3 people.
Great food and excellent service. We dined in during lunch time. Had to wait 30 Mins to get the table and was so packed. Its all worth the wait time as the vibe was so good. Our waiter Diego was so good with service. Lot of choices for Vegetarian.
Loved my dinner date here! I got the fish of the day sandwich which was branzino. It was so delicious and I will definitely be coming back to try other dishes. The other dish was the grain bowl with tofu. The rice was perfectly cooked and the tofu was deliciously marinated. For dessert we got the flourless chocolate cake which was extremely decadent and paired really well with the whipped cream and tart raspberry sauce
I took my mom for breakfast we enjoyed ourselves very much and the food was delicious. Our only problem was the tables were really close together
Farm to table. Exceptional fresh quality ingredients. Must visit location
There is food here that I have tried, but not the juice.
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Notes: This breakfast place is such a vibe. I love the staff and the food is really good. I do believe that this place could use a renovation as I felt the chairs were a bit broken (from the rubber piece). The pancakes are really good!! I would highly recommend having it with maple syrup instead of maple butter
Spent a very pleasant evening with great food and attentive service outdoor dining. The heat lamps made the chill mainingless. My friend Audrey picked another winner for Mr. She great at that. Definitely a must return place.
Sandwich is delicious. The beets salad is good. Carrots hash brown is more like a normal hush brown.
This is one amazing place to go for breakfast and lunch!
Community is our go to breakfast and family meet up. Food is awesome, service is perfect and quick. It s a little crowded and noisy sometimes but that s life in NYC.
An excellent restaurant choice in upper Morningside Heights in Manhattan. Just delighted w the place!
This place is our neighborhood go to on the UWS. Healthy ingredients expertly prepared and lovingly served by a supremely attentive staff. Solo diners should opt for a seat at the bar, for faster service and better people watching. Food
I give the plan pancakes a 1/10 since they taste like hit cardboard. The syrup they give you didn t hit since it was slightly watery due to them trying to stretch it for so many people coming in daily. Blueberry and chocolate chunks is nothing but a distraction
Excellent pancakes but they should be served with more syrup.
Pancakes are delicious and service is great! I struggle to come here frequently because parking is always difficult and they tend to be very busy. Once you are seated, it is delightful!
Very good value for money.
Great morning breakfast after Sunday mass. Had the special and it was special good. Perfect weather in NYC today, which I would like to give the restaurant credit for also.
Great breakfast.
Great brunch spot for a Sunday, with family or friends. A little noisy indoors if youre not a New Yorker. However, top notch service, very kind and patient waiters. Quality food. Menu neither too big nor too small, with a wide choice of dishes. I particularly recommend the French Toasts, the Waffle with berries, the eggs Benedict! I would happily come back!!
We went to the decorator show house on 106 on the way back downtown. We stopped and saw how crowded it wasn t decided to try it. We sat down great waiter, easy service, pancake was good just a little bit too rich for me. And $18 for pancake a bit much but this is a New York.
Have been going here over the course of 10 years, primarily for breakfast, and food has consistently been excellent. Great options and fresh ingredients. Highly recommend.
Have been here for a few times, previously it was good. The outdoor vibe is good for brunch. This morning I ordered a countryside breakfast, the food was bad: no salt in it. There was no service at alll, and the waiter was very rude. Maybe they changed the owner. Wont be here anymore.
A friend who lives in the area brought me here. I love it! The service was great!! I had the rice bowl and there was so much fresh vegetables! Felt like a real local place, will be back next time I am in the city!
I went on a Saturday at 1 pm. It was fairly crowded inside and outside. I sat outside since June weather was warm. I ordered the Country Breakfast. Surprisingly, it came out really quickly. Like 5 minutes quick. It tasted delicious. I really loved the biscuit. My only complaint is they have hot chocolate on the menu, but they dont serve it outside of winter. That is really lame. I have money to spend, so I expect everything on the menu to be available. I may go back during the winter to taste the hot chocolate. Or maybe never again.
The food is delicious here and the service top tier. They have some of the best menu selection out there and the entire staff are really nice as well.
I find it very odd that a restaurant called -Community Food & Juice- only carries two kind of juices in the menu, the most commonly found ever, orange and grapefruit. They were pretty ok and expensive for what it was served. Service was not great, the waiter was pretty pushy about what we wanted to have, they dont even let us take a look at the menu, so we have to take those without even knowing what other choices they had. We did not really feel welcome since the beginning.
We had coffee and dessert, both were very good.
Fun brunch spot! Ask for the specials
The waiters were welcoming and friendly. I ordered the rice bowl with tofu. I was impressed with the freshness of the vegetables and the perfectly grilled tofu. The nutty and slightly sweet sauce was the best part. However, the portion size was small for the price of $16. The prices on Google has not been updated to show the increased pricing. I would love to see slightly lower prices or bigger portions.
Great daily specials and excellent service. Its very nice not to feel rushed. The limoncello spritzer and peach/raspberry waffle were both perfect.
Food is so good! One of my favorite brunch place.
Always consistent
A bit too overpriced for the quantity and quality of food you get
The crab burger was the special of the day and were glad to have ordered it. The sweet potato fries complimented the burger well. We also ordered a chopped salad to accompany, and it tasted refreshing and light. Popular for a reason and worth a visit.
I had the immense pleasure of dining here yesterday. The space is so beautiful and oddly homey feeling. My server Nick was a dream and made me feel good, his attentiveness and hospitality was refreshing. I started with the bowl of beets and they were good just wished they were warm.I had the Branzino, Im still thinking about the flavors and how perfectly it was cooked. The summer drink is so amazing, I definitely left with the best buzz. I was celebrating my bday and some of the staff sang to me, it was very nice because they did it with gusto.! I will definitely be back!!!
Top restaurant for a breakfast or brunch. The dishes are copious, very trendy restaurant. Perfect service Healthy food with fresh products. The price is reasonable. The place is noisy and full but we are in NY Not to be missed .
Their waffles and veggie burger are some of the best I ve ever had in NYC.
Few restaurants hit the mark quite like this one. The food was of superb quality and presentation. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was bright and inviting. Overall, the experience was comfortable and enjoyable from start to finish, and this ended up being the perfect place to spend time with friends for brunch. I highly recommend the lentil salad with its caramelized leeks and the carrot hash browns. I really applaud their unique and fresh offerings. Not only is the food high quality, but it s presented nicely and flavorful as well. Quality coffee here too, I gotta say. I have no hesitation recommending, and hope to be back someday.
I came to eat here with my girlfriend and I wanted to sit next to her on the comfortable seat. We put the tables together and they said we couldnt do that. So we decided to leave and as we were going I heard one of the waiters say a la verga. Extremely disrespectful, I will never come here again.
Great Americano and Community omelette!!!
Best in the neighborhood. Kid-friendliness: High chairs available, and they bring kids water in plastic takeaway cups with straws. Food : 5/5 |
Lots of good dinner options, all very tasty. But the crispy rice and grilled pizza were a little tough. Service was great. Street noise if youre outside can be a bit much. Desserts were all wonderful. Dietary restrictions: Number of GF options marked with an asterisk
I love everything about this place!! The food is so delicious .
Excellent breakfast, very well served and with very good quality ingredients, very good flavor!
Great selection of food. Healthy and so very tasty options. Nice outdoor seating in a casual setting. The service David was a rockstar and was a total vibe. Service with style. Don t forget dessert.
I take everyone who visits the city here, lovely spot close to Columbia undergrad with decently priced delicious brunch. Migas are a standout as are all the pancakes
Although it is walking distance from Columbia University, it is actually not very close. It is not like next door or across the street. However, at noon, many teachers and students from Columbia University do visit the Community Food, which is like a school cafeteria. There is a reason for this. . Community Food emphasizes the quality of ingredients. All chickens and eggs are free range, vegetables and other ingredients are sourced from local farmers as much as possible, and many items on the menu are gluten-free. This time I visited at noon and simply ordered the Farmers Chop with grilled chicken breast slices. Except for the taste of some chicken breasts, which were a bit too spicy, it was indeed fresh and delicious. I felt refreshed throughout the afternoon. It seemed overall good. It is also a very suitable meal choice for continued research If you are near Columbia, you may consider a visit.
I ordered huevos rancheros. It took almost an hour to get it and yes not hot.
I ordered a brunch sandwich (the BELT, which is a BLT with a fried egg added) which tasted good but I asked for a non runny yolk and guess what I got? Yup, runny eggs. Sigh... Also, be aware, prices are a bit high, I was charged 7 dollars for a juice glass size orange juice. The server said it was fresh squeezed but ... Sigh.
Solid brunch spot. Worth checking out if you re in the area. Food is good, nothing spectacular but still very tasty. Service is fast and friendly. Pancakes were definitely the highlight.
Got it to go, and it lived up to the hype. Yum ee!
Excellent service and quality food; always happy to come back.
I always recommend getting the fish sandwich for first timers. They have an impressive sounding menu but I have generally been disappointed by the warm lentil salad. The staff is friendly though and always helpful.
Great place for brunch near campus
Always good and reliable food and service.
Super tasty brunch with large portions
Relaxed neighborhood eatery with the usual breakfast basics served in often unusual ways. The coffee is excellent and the hash browns with grated carrots was surprisingly good.
The place is not bad, but not spectacular. I ve dined here before during the pandemic and it was fine but I was here two days ago and that wasn t the case. The waiter had this weird attitude/vibe that wasn t cool and to top things off I came home with horrible food poisoning. The food was mediocre at that too. I won t be dining here again.
Community Food and Juice is one of the highlights of Columbia food community. Brunch til 3:30 every day. Joined by luncheon bowls and burgers and sandwiches as the noon hour approaches. The ingredients are as local as possible and all delicious. The drinks are crafted so yes, you can say there are craft cocktails available. Those too are high level and excellent. Service is attentive - your coffee or water is refillled, the food is just what you want ( try a BELT, you ll see what I mean!), and it s been consistently superb for years. the only problem is because everything is so good, sometimes you have to wait to get a table or a seat at the bar. Vegetarian options: Tofu scramble Non meat burger More Dietary restrictions: Ask for what you want or need and you will be able to get it. Gluten free- yes.
I like this place
Delightful brunch spot. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Some plates were undercooked. Darn!!
Disgusting waiters.
