2867 Broadway, New York, NY 10025, United States
We are American/Tex Mex themed restaurant and bar with all season retractable rooftop. We serve up lunch, brunch, dinner and offer two happy hours. Come Scale the Heights!
I’ve been here many times over the past couple years & they never disappoint. The food is always good! We love the nachos & calamari in buffalo sauce. Frozen margaritas are also really good. Customer service is always great here!
Food was excellent! Great chill atmosphere with fast efficient service with a smile! Highly recommend the cauliflower tacos and chicken tacos 😋
Food was great especially the nachos and Mexican Cobb Salad. Unfortunately we were denied a table for two by the window despite several subsequent pairs of people being allowed in the same seats we requested.
Love this place, the rooftop is also a pretty good date spot. The food is always spot on with generous portions. I’ve never left hungry. They even offer some good happy hour deals! Try the nachos you won’t be disappointed. Worth checking out.
10/10 so good. Jake was an AMAZING servicer. Loved the chips & guac app, we got yummy mini margaritas, I got the chicken burrito (mind blowingly good) and my friend got the burger. So delicious. One thing to note, they have rooftop seating but it might not be what you expect. The walls are higher, so you don’t really have a great view. But it was still nice to be outside
The Heights is unassuming chic at its best. Not quite a rooftop, but it's on the upper level of a third storey walk. Above average customer service with a sensual southern atmosphere. Great dive for a dirty night. Very dark and discrete. Screams Tinder.
The food was delicious!! It was cool going up the heights! It feels like a cozy place. It was almost closing time when we went so it was on the quiet side and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I like it was on the darker side and feels like we had privacy and our waitress was nice and friendly! Didn’t get any drinks but the bar looked awesome!
I came for happy hour with a group of folks on the weekend. We were seated pretty quickly and attended to shortly. There are various options depending on what you’re in the mood for. The food is definitely a bit over priced for what you get though. I got the tacos and it didn’t even come with a side of rice and beans, that was separate and it wasn’t very filling. Other folks got the nachos which seemed to be good. The drinks were also okay, the margaritas are delicious. If you go with a large party be mindful that they are only willing to accept 3 cards which was pretty annoying.
Great music and environment overall. The service was good, especially for NYC.
I had such a fun night there -- nothing fancy, but fun atmosphere and great service
Great atmosphere, rather trendy bar, quite cosmopolitan, reflects the New York spirit well.
A great time on the rooftop!
Great service and early weekday specials
Stop playing Club music past 10 pm on a Thursday for Christ sake! We hear it from our room every night. Food : 1/5
Their frozen margs are pretty good but too expensive when it s not happy hour or Taco Tuesday.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and drink reasonable price. The wait staff was friendly it was like hanging out at a friends house.
Good food quick service nice lunch stop in Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible upstairs in older building Food : 5/5 |
The best chicken breast on the planet
Good college bar upscale but casual simple drinks but made well with great hard cider
Seeing the condition the restaurant was kept in despite the photos was concerning, but the mice on each level on the trip in and out was probably the most concerning. I dont know if its the current staffing, but I couldnt recommend this in its current state knowing the amount of incredible dive bars in the area
The waiters were really rude
The food is very rich
Nachos were great and frozen margaritas were the perfect summer treat
Nice pub on 2nd floor overlooking Broadway.
Cute rooftop. Server/hostess Dru was amazing!!!! Wings were great. Frozen marg was ehh Will be back (:
ZERO STARS-Let me start by saying that my husband and I have been patrons here since my Columbia days (99-03) & weve never experienced anything like what happened to our family last week. We came here to celebrate our eldest s graduation only to have my husband rudely & aggressively spoken to, nearly poked in the chest, followed down the steps by their manager Sean. We placed a call at noon on Friday to make a reservation for nine at 8:15pm. The day manager, Deon, told us he couldn t accommodate us, that we would just have to come down and see. But since the roof was open, it shouldn t be a problem. We arrive around 7:45, I inform the very tall server with the dark framed glasses, that I would like a table for 9. As I stand there with my graduate in her graduation attire, he immediately tells me he can t accommodate us on the main floor, but go up to the roof and see if they can accommodate you there . I start to walk to the roof, he calls out wait, my manager just said there s no space up there either. Interesting, as no one had gone to check. No one asked if I wanted to wait for a table, or told me what the wait time would be. No one acknowledged me any further, period. That should have been our cue to leave and not return, but we had driven in with family. I went to talk to my family downstairs. I came back to ask that they put us on a list for the next available table and the manager, Sean, is griping about accommodating a group of 9, which is interesting as I ve seen plenty of large groups seated both on the main floor and roof without issue. What kind of manager audibly complains about seating a large group at a restaurant? Last July, my family reserved a brunch table for 15 without a single problem (different manager). He begrudgingly takes down my name and number and tells me it will be 45 min to an hour. My husband goes upstairs to use the bathroom while we wait. While he s waiting for the bathroom, the same server asks my husband to move because he has to get by. My husband tells him he ll move as soon as he can but a kitchen worker was throwing out trash, so the path was blocked. The server rudely tells him he needs to get through because I have customers, I need to get by. Again, my husband repeats same. Server rudely tells him he has customers to attend to and he needs to move. My husband responds I m a customer as well. Why are you speaking to me that way? Before the server can respond, Sean jumps in my husband s face and yells you can t talk to my employees like that! My husband tries to tell him whats happening but Sean interrupts yelling if you have a problem, you talk to me, not him . When my husband responds that he would be happy to talk to him, but now he s also being rude, Sean flys off the handle, yelling You know what?! You re not welcomed here. Leave! as he continues to point towards his chest. My husband tells Sean not to touch him and that while he ll leave, he will hear about this treatment later. As my husband is turned and walking down the stairs, Sean FOLLOWS HIM, yelling get out of my building! Sean is now closely behind him as he is walking down steep, narrow steps, which could have caused him to fall down the steps. He continued following him to the front of the restaurant, where both my brother and I had to step in front of Sean to keep him away. He had no business following anyone down the steps once they turned to leave, much less attempting to continue the confrontation on the sidewalk for our family, children and every passerby to witness. To say that we will NEVER step foot here again is an understatement! We have seen Sean be rude, flustered and unhinged when the tables are packed. However, last week took the cake! Turned away at arrival, ignored, verbally AND physically accosted all because Sean is temperamental, unprofessional and could not and would not manage our large party on a Friday night in June is the epitome of incompetence, repugnance, arrogance and, I will add, left a very clear taste of prejudice and bigotry.
Popular among Columbia students, located on the second floor, walk up. The food is simple but fresh. Service leaves to be desired
Fun atmosphere, good week night food specials, and great late-night happy hour.
I don t know how you mess up a Caeser salad but these guys definitely figured it out. Worst Caeser salad ever. Churros over priced and weren t flavored at all. $29.77 down the drain.
The food tasted amazing.
Love this place definitely good for a happy hour and the food is not bad either. There is also a rooftop which is cute. Mondays they have 1/2 of wings they also have Taco Tuesdays. Happy hour is from 12pm-7pm.
Staff was kind. The drinks were flowin - CLEAN BATHROOM. What a blissful pee! Thanks and keep the good times rollin
The food is top tier.
Used to be a fan of this place, till recently my friend and I got lectured by the waitress for not tipping 20%+ on the single frozen margarita we bought. The entitlement totally ruined the vibe for me we are college students at the end of the day. Will not be returning.
Busy night enjoying seeing my Columbia University classmates for our reunion wind-down!
Service was great but the food and pricing was wild. ordered chips, queso, and a drink and the total was 35$. The queso was just reheated tomato soup with some creamer in it. They even served it with a spoon. Not that it matters but all the chips I was given were broken. Waitress was lovely and it wasn t worth bringing up. Obvious her manager overseated her during happy hour rush and she was run thin.
Great vibes for groups nd chill times!
One of my favorite neighborhood bars.... always come here whenever I pass by!
Small but very nice place and very good atmosphere. The only place in the area to have a beer and eat a portion. The rest are shops, cafes and take aways. The owner or manager very friendly. He gave us a taste of the beers because we didnt know which one to choose. And although we only ordered a chicken finger plate, they were very good.
Great food and service
Great
great wings and beer. food is varied and good. casual atmosphere.
Good service and drinks
I really enjoyed my experience. The upstairs terrace is really nice and had a nice vibe going. The drink was great the problem is I think they use cheap triple sec and my stomach starting burning after(happens to me with cheap triple secs). Wish they could improve this as the drink tastes amazing. Besides that it was a good experience.
It was a nice warm place for a few drinks. Our bartender was amazing. Her drinks were fantastic. Great service!
Fairly tasty, reasonably priced food. Decent happy hour, but mediocre drinks. Friendly service. Cute outdoor rooftop. Id go back for more food and to try other drinks. Its too bad there are no hh food specials. The place is small, but we also appreciated not being rushed. Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible. There are stairs to get up to the restaurant and more for the roof. There is a sign that says theyll bring food down to street level if you order takeout.
Wings were phenomenal! Service was top notch and very friendly. Will be back!
Pretty good but they were out of like two things. Though, we did go pretty late.
Nice place
The worst service I have ever encountered in my life. The server attempted to threaten because we did not give 30% tip.I felt unsafe.
I have been going to the heights for over 5 years and for the first t me I have been harassed for not tipping an excessive amount. The server was around 5,3 brunette and showed racial and homophobic prejudices towards me and my friends. She abused us until she was able to get the tip she wanted out of us. Totally unproffesional, very disturbing, I hope she realizes what she is doing before she puts this place out of business. Other than her everything was OK.
One of the servers was really nice and sweet but the other one was totally a menace. She tried to threaten the girls next to me by their tip rate and I felt really uncomfortable. It also made other customers uncomfortable too. The drinks were fine and I enjoyed the night other than that.
I have had a terrible night becuase of the service. She was horrible and made me never want to come back to this place ever again. I was traumatized
The food was really good I had the steak and eggs and it was well cooked and flavorful my friend had the nachos thing and that was good too. Our waitress was the manager in training and she was so nice helpful and friendly.
Across the street from one of the opening scenes on senfield .( Restaurant)
Its great place for food and chatter one of the best places since the pandemic. GO THERE COME HERE
Overall great experience. Loved the atmosphere and the service. I can only speak for the steak tacos I had - they were good, steak cooked to perfect. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options on their menu.
Try the sliders!
Nice chill place although gets busy on weekends. We come quite often and always have a good time. And a good steak! Any meal of the day here is great, and their lunchtime deal with a soda and a main for around $12-14 is brilliant value for NYC. If the weather is nice the rooftop is great. If the weather s not so great, sitting by the window on the second floor is a nice alternative.
Great happy hour and drinks
Welcoming establishment, I stopped in to finish some work and fell in love
Service is slow the staff is slow. I began going into anaphylactic shock. I quickly alerted staff that I need to pay and was having a medical emergency. NPC stares and slowness abound. I could have died tonight because of the staff failure to move with any sense of purpose. They held my money staring at it wasting precious time. As im wheezing, and visibly puffy. Finally another waitress pulled change. When anaphylactic shock hits I know exactly the timeline I need to be in a safe place so ems can get to me after I d administer. This was a horrible experience. I had to inject 3 epepins to live and the cashiers and staff want ladi dadi da never again still in the hospital. The unknown allergen came from your kitchen or building. No to mention we ve walked out of the restaurant before for lack of service. Y all should be ashamed.
The Heights Bar and Grill is a national landmark of the Upper West side akin to the Empire State building is to New York. I was born and raised in Upper West Side and I have always gone to the Heights through its lifetime, even experience the tragedy when a fire erupted there. The food is delicious as always and the service is also amazing. Shout out the Heights new employee Olympia. She was amazing and super super friendly. It gets busy after 2pm so plan properly if you bring more than a party of 2
Wings were okay Churros were mid Margaritas were pretty bad Left early because of rats running around openly on the floor
Super cute indoor decor. The happy hour specials are really good, highly recommend a frozen margarita
Nice place if u want to drink a draft beer or a nice froz Margarita! Happy Hour until 11pm! And a nice college pub like atmosphere! Rooftop is also nice!
We had a great dinner, and the wait staff was just awesome. Definitely on our list to go back.
Never been there in person, but they have some of the best food Ive ever had from a bar and actually even some restaurants.
Greater warmly & enjoyed food suggestions. Some appetizers were simple, and two tacos were miniscule . Salad very generous but add chicken...and became unusually expensive. Roof was closed to a private party. Everyone was on main floor and slightly crowded.
Not bad, but definitely reads like a college bar.
Best blue cheeseburger and fries I ever had. Brought friends there and they loved it too. Will definitely be back
Skirt steak burrito with guac and chipotle sauce. WOW absolutely devoured it. *update* lunch is 12 dollars for everything on the menu and happy hour is 12-7pm m-f got the Burger with bacon and cheddar damn good and the fries were crispy. This place has sneaky good food for something you might just walk by without noticing Food
Servers don t show any attention & they add 20% tip even if it s only 3 of you.
Very rude waiter with pony tail on rooftop, they demand 30% tip and 5% service. Came around 5, stood till 10.. they over charged and when trying to explain he was rude.and then he threw a drink to my face a woman I was shocked a called the police please be aware and before that he said out loud
Waiter was inattentive and rude light skin male with long hair very disrespectful will not be coming back worst service ever should be shut down if you don t like your job you should not be working with people I recommend people not to go there
Food & drinks were good. Service terrible. Waiter with the long hair make, very rude. Called us broke and refused to listen to us. He was defensive and said told our table we didn t have to come back. Inattentive and nasty .
Food and drinks were fine. The service was terrible. I had an inquiry about my bill because I was charged for things I didnt order. The waiter was rude, called us broke and refused to listen. He was defensive and told our table that we didnt have to come back and to F off. We were a table of 3 and charged 30 percent gratuity automatically for someone who was inattentive and nasty. Definitely wont be returning.
Terrible waiters on the roof. Stand by the bar, IG toning everybody. God forbid you have a question about the bill, they ll tell you to not come back. Very rude, not the first time here but definitely the last.
came here for bottomless brunch. Our server Jake was an absolute gem!! very happy with the food, drinks and the service! highly recommend. And thanks to Jake for being an amazing server
This food is so good. I have been here twice and it is so good.
Great place for food and drinks. Reasonable happy hour prices.
Delicious food and drinks. Staff very friendly.
Wings and frozen margaritas at The Heights always hit the spot! Other items on the menu are great as well.
Its the 3rd time but last time we waited too long very friendly nice place to go with fam.and friends have a good time smooth
The food and drinks were delicious. Try the burrito!
Good veggie burger!
Garbage
Delicious perfect burger amazing sweet potatoe fries excellent chicken tenders
Great place for a burger and a beer. Love the rooftop seating
Great frozen margs but food is overpriced. Vegetarian options: They offered vegetarian appetizers and entrees and even vegan options although limited.
I had to call the waitress over for a menu ,she wasnt engaging me as a customer. The burger buns were too dry
Wish they had this place when I went to Columbia for grad school. Love the rooftop terrace and the chicken quesadilla.
Food is average, price reasonable for the area.
The Heights Bar & Grill was on point. Very calm & chill atmosphere and the food as well as the service & hospitality was A1!!
The rooftop bar has a view on nothing. And the frozen margarita is disgusting
This has been a favorite place for over 10yrs and they have never disappointed me, the roof top is an amazing addition and it s the perfect combo of sports bar vibe but also a decent place for a date (just not a first date)
Came here and just had drinks but I ve eaten here before. Love this spot. Love the music and love the waiters! Would recommend
Food was good, but was rushed off the roof, and plate was picked up while I was still eating. Gratuity was also added for a small party. Law says 6 or more.
The tacos are always good and the corn soup is phenomenal. Great atmosphere and a fun place to hang out after class.
Small place that gets crowded quickly. Food is always great. Mostly been for brunch. Last time I was there the bathroom was really gross a bunch of flies like a lot that concern me the bathroom is pretty close to the kitchen and bar. The big huge windows can be open and have no screen. No insect traps I could see. The wait staff is great kind friendly and accommodating.
Places is filled with professional friendly bartenders with a really great selection of liqueurs and beers.
The worse service ever. The Waitress Matilda was so rude and I been going to the Height for 20 years. Never had a single problem with anyone. She did not even let us finish our dinner. We arrived at 10:30 and she kicked us out before we even finished our meal and it was 10:50. I told her to bring the check and she said paid now bc I have to go. I told her calm down and bring your Nina get and she yelled loud saying don t come back. Trust me I will never be back and I will be sure that no one will be treated again the way she treated me. Better higher people who respect people who supports the neighborhood restaurants.
Amazing place, but the drinks are pricey
Live in the neighborhood but hadn t been for a while. We were so happy with our dinner, really good food at good prices, great beer on tap, delicious mocktail and a yummy frozen margarita. Friendly staff, too. Loved sitting on the roof deck and having the sky overhead. Nice to rediscover this low key and fun spot. Vegetarian options: My husband liked the Beyond burger (with a beer on Wednesday nights!) .
Usually make a point not to make negative reviews but ordered a quesadilla and a veggie burrito. Filling was completely unseasoned, and looked like California medley frozen vegetables. Ambience of the restaurant is great but was very disappointed this time around. Not worth the money spent.
I didnt get a chance to try the food tonight but the drinks were amazing. Their bartender, Trystan, is the best and gives great attention to detail in his cocktails and actually cares. Ill be coming back!
The calamari was fantastic and we had the fried cauliflower tossed in buff sauce and it was amazing
Roof is open for outdoor dining with open windows and tables spread out nicely. Good air flow and heat lamps.
Drinks are just ok but theyre expensive.
Food was perfect
SEP 2018 REVIEW Great spot for brunch! 4 dollar mimosas! Absolutely cant go wrong with that! My waitress was awesome. Cant remember her name but she Deff took care of my friends and I. Go with the steak & eggs! So yummy! They also have rooftop seating!
Good atmosphere
Have been here several times as its an easy stop on the way back to NYC. Came in recently for their happy hour advertised on their menu, only to find out from the bartender that the HH specials advertised doesnt exist anymore even though they are still on every menu. Avoid their mixed drinks as they are very sweet and not worth the $10+ price per drink. They also always seem to be out of something on tap. Two diff occasions been told the beers we ordered were tapped. The wait staff is really good and attentive so I would recommend sitting for table service as opposed to bar service. If you are concerned about covid, maybe avoid this place as the bartenders and kitchen staff can often be seen taking off masks. The food is good and appropriately priced. Recommend their grilled sandwiches, wings and nachos.
Great service snacks and drinks we came in late it was a slow night for a Saturday but with COVID its expected. Will try again another time.
First time at this place and it was a great! Ben (bartender) is amazing
Great chicken tenders!
It was excellent service many thanks to yoast and Marcus and a lovely Bartender brunette with beautiful curly hair forgive for forgetting her name. I will be coming again soon!!!!
Great food and service! Margaritas were some of the best weve had! They arent stingy with the alcohol!! We had pulled pork, loved my burrito and others loved their sandwiches!! We sat on the roof, if youre looking for a stuck up snooty atmosphere, this isnt your place... if you want to relax and unwind without worrying about a dress code, head to the Heights!!
I love bringing family and friends here. It s easily one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Everything on the menu is great and the music gives a great vibe for the rooftop. The bartender also has a heavy hand Everything about the Heights is great except for management. I never feel welcomed when I m there
I used to go to the heights very frequently because I love the food. The last time I went I ordered and took the food to go. On my way out, the bar tender made a comment about my not tipping. I gave him what few dollars I had in my wallet and left. It made me feel very uncomfortable like I used to there like every week! What an I tipping for? I come in, place my order and go wait for the food outside. If I m dining in or even sitting at the bar then I ll tip but that was out of line so I m never going back. The bar tender is this heavy set Latino dude. Idk his name.
Fantastic foods, great atmosphere. Staff was super helpful and friendly.
Beautiful rooftop... Great service and atmosphere
YUM!! The roof has been closed a lot recently but I hear is great!
Relaxed bar space, I was able to carry my bike bike upto the rooftop, they were nice about it. Great selection of beers and barfood. Great staff
This restuarant bar is on the top of their game (post covid). They accommodated our party of 20+ for a work gathering and they killed it. Great service. Happy hour specials. No biz within reach of this spot can hold a candle. 5 stars. Thumbs way up.
Great staff, nice selection of beers and barfood, great wings, location. Generally pleasant place to be after work. They let me carry my bike up to my tables, so mucho extra points
I love this place. The drink and food are great. Staff is friendly great atmosphere.
Went for a party they had great table service and the staff was nice, great prices, even better drinks.
Atmosphere 10/10 Drinks 8/10
The service was great Ashley took care of me
Roof is the best outdoor dining in the upper west side. Staff is wonderful
Rooftop dining was nice. Great Jalapeño Margaritas.
Friendly staff, good food and music
I love the atmosphere and great servers here. The food was good too, although we mainly came for drinks we did have the fried panko cauliflower which was awesome!
I was out with a very dear friend. We were looking for a nice place to enjoy a meal and some drinks. The food was delicious and the drinks were awesome. The server was very professional. I would recommend visiting this Bar & Grill ....
Rooftop is so nice regardless of the weather and the food is fine for happy hour. Drink specials are good and service is great.
Food was good drinks were great What time does the motorcycle nice I went on an off night I guess love to meet someone
Nice happy hour prices, great service, bar food that hits the spot - overall, great experience all around!
Fiiire...love it!!!
