I go to seafood boil spots all the time. The sauce was too salty. I tried the seafood without the sauce to make sure it wasn’t the seafood itself. It was in fact the sauce. Drinks are sub-par. Not strong. You will need a minimum of two. Service was good. Food came relatively quick. Also, they played the same 4 songs. My friends and I noticed it quickly lol. Just get an Apple play list with 2 hours worth of songs and repeat it. That way all customers hear different songs. No ones sitting in a restaurant more than 2 hours.
I just want to say about this place. I’m not a big fan of seafood but the food here taste so good. The server with the glasses have a lot of patience to explain the menu. She was kind. So my friends and I have such a good time and it was our first time here also. Come try it guys. Ya won’t be disappointed. Also, they have happy hour drinks.
Now let me start with the positives. The food is delicious. Everything was fresh and from what others tell me they are consistent. I have friends and family that dine here all of the time but this was my first visit. Now where the issue arises is the service. I was in town visiting family and when we sat down and started looking over the menu the manager came over to us and said “I’m sorry to say this but I can not serve you.” I asked if children were not allowed and he said that was not the reason he stated “the owner just saw you come in and just told me to tell you I could not serve you.” As you can imagine this incited an issue. I asked why several times and his response was he didn’t know. I explained that simply looking at someone and refusing to serve them is discrimination. For some reason he did not see it that way. I have dined all over the world and never have I had something like this happen. This was not only disrespectful but embarrassing. This is a small establishment so the tables next to us could hear everything. I kept my cool even though everything in me wanted to leave and not spend a dime with them but my family members were familiar with the staff and had a conversation with them. I am unsure if this was a case of mistaken identity or something else entirely but it’s not for me to figure out. And despite the apology and the great service that followed I will never return again.
Stopped by Captain Lou Broadway in Harlem and was underwhelmed. My daughter ordered the seafood boil, which she managed to enjoy, while I opted for the fish and chips. The food itself was passable in taste but nothing to write home about. The sauce portions were laughably small, leaving our dishes feeling unfinished. The margarita I had was disappointingly weak, missing the zest and strength one would expect. To top it off, they slap an 18% mandatory gratuity on the bill regardless of party size, which was a surprise. And then, in a perplexing move, they suggested another 18% tip on top of that🤔 For those craving a seafood boil, my advice would be to consider other spots in NYC where the service and policy might match the quality of the food and the price.
I wanted decent fresh seafood for my birthday, and The Cap't Loui was EXACTLY what I needed. Oh my word, it was absolutely excellent 😍 Everything from the time we walked in until we left was on point. My waitress was very attentive & kind. My s☀️nshine, and I haven't been out for a minute, so everything was just groovy. He's a picky guy and he was very impressed. Oh wait....but the drinks in the pouches, were potent & very tasty.
Came here for the Happy Hour deal which is technically worth it. However, there were a lot of broken pieces of the shell inside the oyster and I almost bit into them. Chardonnay was also really sour, like old wine. Nothing was done after mentioning it to the server. Edit: The manager came and offered a free beignet after I enquired further about getting billed for the oysters.
Firstly, server Robert—the BEST!! One person in our party was allergic to seafood and they were super accommodating making sure he could have a delicious chicken and fries meal while we had an absolutely wonderful calamari and seasoned French fries along with coleslaw meal with all the dipping sauces you could want—honey mustard, ketchup, spicy tangy creole mayo…yum!!!:) They each had Root Beers while server Robert was kind enough to bring me a hot water with a couple slices of lemon on a cold evening. The atmosphere is chill, clean and lovely and the service is quick and kind. I will definitely return again and hope to try their crab next time—thanks! Food too darn tempting to take photos before eating—maybe next time!
Took my brother here. Wanted him to try something different. He is hard to please but he loved the food. It is delicious. I liked the drinks they put in the Capri Sun bags. The lemon pepper fries were different, but I enjoyed it. Didn't need any ketchup on it at all. The food was more than enough, and seasoned well. Staff was friendly and attentive. Great enviornmemt!

Capt Loui is simply delish a southern flare with a relaxed atmosphere please ask for Antonio very attentive professional with a fun and professional demeanor . The best seafood in Montclair the Capt Loui sauce is by far the best I ve had light and not too much butter the right amount of seasoning and spices Capt Loui you are No1 in my opinion and I know my seafood boils Thank you Parking: Located directly across the street with township parking right next to the YMCa very safe

All the food was overcooked.... the clams were rubbery, ditto the crawfish. The waitress, who did not speak much English, did not understand the idea of substitutions, which were ok on the website.

Amazing food, customer service could improve. I was standing by the front door for 5-10 minutes before I was even acknowledged and told a wait time for my table. A simple hi, we will be with you a moment makes a difference. Other than that the food is amazing and the actual service at the table is pretty good.

First, I want to state that I am a regular customer of this restaurant, having visited more than ten times, and I really enjoy the food. However, I am dissatisfied with the attitude of one of the managers. I ordered crawfish on April 18, 2024, but they were not very fresh. After eating two, I requested a refund. A manager wearing glasses, Manager A, said a refund would be inconvenient to process. Recognizing me as a regular customer, Manager A offered me a pound of free shrimp on my next visit instead. Since I enjoyed the food here and knew I would return, I accepted this offer. The manager noted down my name and phone number. On May 23, 2024, I went to redeem the pound of free shrimp but was rudely refused by the manager on duty, Manager B. Manager B recognized me as a regular customer but denied my request, stating that: 1. The previous incident did not occur during his shift. 2. He was unaware of the arrangement. 3. The manager on duty at that time was traveling in Korea and could not be contacted. 4. He advised me to come back Monday through Thursday when Manager A would be available. What bothered me was: 1. Since my name and phone number were recorded, this information should have been properly communicated internally. Alternatively, I should have been informed that the offer was only valid when Manager A was on duty. 2. Manager B did not bother to understand my situation and dismissed me with an indifferent attitude. 3. After rudely refusing my request, Manager B offered free drinks to another table, making me feel discriminated against. I am not concerned about the pound of shrimp itself but rather about the lack of respect I received as a loyal customer.

Great place for Happy Hour! $1 Oysters $7.95 Shrimp Basket with Fries or Calamari w/ Fries which can be dusted with Cajun seasoning or lemon pepper. I always get the lemon pepper. Delish! $4 beers $5 wines $7 cocktails
They lack shellfish/seafood forks had to bend a plastic fork to get at the crabmeat. They have no non-alcoholic beer, ( had to have a Shirley Temple) allergictoalcohol. Otherwise it was a good experience. Next time Ill bring my own shellfish forks.
Unfortunately I would say my experience there wasn t the best. I ordered crawfish, shrimp (head off) and crab legs. The crab legs had no flavor whatsoever and I was served rotten crawfish. I would recommend this place to anyone.
It s disappointing when a favorite spot turns into a source of frustration. On our fourth visit to Captain Louis, we were faced with a distressing experience marked by discrimination. Despite requesting a table, the host informed us of a wait time ranging from one to one and a half hours, only to later claim there were no more tables available. This was particularly disheartening since we were with a old woman and expected a more accommodating service. The hosts rude and dismissive behavior towards us, as well as his refusal to let a server prepare a table, was uncalled for. In fact, the server had to argue with him before she could even take our order. This encounter marred our evening, leaving us feeling disrespected and disappointed, and regrettably, we can no longer recommend Captain Louis after this experience.

I ordered Doordash and my food came so quick! It was fresh and the fried shrimp was still crispy and you can tell its good quality shrimp. The Cajun fries were bomb! They sent me 4 different sauces and coleslaw with my order :) VERY happy with my decision to order from here.

Went here to celebrate my goddaughter and I birthday. First off you have to call to make a reservation which we did not because we thought we could just walk-in. However the gentleman said it would be a hour wait we said we will wait. Another reservation must if not showed because we were seated after 30min. Now the food was good and seasoned well. Quick service food came out fast. The dood tAsted fresh. Will definitely return!!

Well let s start with this the service was terrible, I mean terrible, i took my 2 grandkids because they wanted a seafood boil & bag so only 2 kids had eaten we asked for mild sauce what we actually got was a very hot sauce, when I told the waitress which she did, was pour some mild sauce into the bag, which did not help at all, so not wanting to make a scene I asked for my check and was taking the food out and I also asked for a mild takeout for my other son. I put emphasis on mild., the waitress added the mile to the in-house order as if we eat it there she added a gratuity and taxes to the gratuity also, and refused to fix it. I had to stop payment with my bank and told her I would pay in cash. How dare them try to scam me this place is a Knogo. The service has dropped drastically why pay mandatory gratuity when they gave us absolutely no service at allstay away

I can not say enough good things about the food, staff, and manager at Capt Loui. We had the cajun crab boil in a bag, and it was BY FAR the best Ive ever had. Im also pretty picky about New England Clam chowder, but theirs was perfect, as were the oysters! The bonus is that after we left, on NYE, I lost my wallet. The restaurant was already closed and closed the next day. I flew out the morning after. I thought I had been pick-pocketed and had almost given up hope, but they held on to my wallet for weeks and ensured that I got it back! So so grateful!

The employee at the front had amazing customer service. I placed the order through Doordash but the third party was non responsive. He assured me with the order and guided me in what to do in case of no response. He was also able to give me a call back to make sure that I knew what was going on. Amazing service thank you!

Came here for happy hour with coworkers. I had lemon pepper shrimp pretty good, friends had Cajun shrimp and muscles said it was good but she got bloated and had the runs Con Oh the oyster shooter tastes weird. It tasted like vodka lemonade with tomato sauce

I love this seafood broil. The sauce was very delicious and seasoned well. My Bestfriend and I came here starving and definitely filled us up with just 1 bag. The Sherly Temple as well very good. The best part about it is you can bring your own alcohol to mix your drink with. Definitely recommend this place.

So this is my first time at the Broadway location everything was fine I loved the drinks and I ordered the broiler. It comes with corn and potatoes I guess certain locations come with different amount of sides I got one potato and one corn. The corn was very undercooked it got stuck in my teeth horribly and I asked for mild sauce it had a spicy kick to it and last but not least I had FOOD POISONING. I did eat some food HOURS before coming there but that s something I normally eat so it wasn t that. I wouldn t say that it was a bad experience but food is my heart and sadly I won t be back at this location
I love this place!! The service is fire they made sure we had everything we needed and refilled our cups every time they were low. Jun and Jay were out waiters and they made us feel so welcomed and got us what we needed. Shout out Jun and Jay!!!! The music was hitting too!!!!

Food was phenomenal. Bag had snow crab legs, shrimp, mussels, potatoes, eggs and corn. Everything tasted fresh, and service was good as well. AND THEIR PLAYLIST HAD ME JAMMIN THE WHOLE TIME!
Ive loved this place for years between the fried shrimp and now the lemon pepper fries the adult Capri suns ( alcohol that comes in a nice sized clear pouch) this is one of my favorite seafood restaurants in harlem you can never go wrong at this place and the boil bags are best if you havent been here GO NOW!!

Omg! I went here for my cousins birthday. I ordered my seafood boil bag. When it arrived, i began to eat my food until i felt something funny in my mouth. I rrmoved it and it was a piece of wire from a Brillo pad We told the manager and he was willing to remake my food. I was bought a new order. When i went to eat one of my mussels, it had plastic on it. Yes, PLASTIC At that point i was over it, and the manager stated he would just remove my food from the bill as no one else had any issues. I am good on Capt Loui from here on out. No thank you

I clearly stated to the hostess that I could NOT consume anything SPICY. She in return assured me not to worry... I had a 2 go order that totaled $95 only to get it home and it was SUPER SPICY. NOT NEVER AGAIN WILL I EAT FROM HERE!!! Food

THERE IS A Roach in my food. Please do not eat here. I tried to call the restaurant and the guy hung up for me. Very bad customer service I asked to speak to the manager. They said the manager is a present. It s 3:35 in the afternoon what time is the manager coming in? No response hung up on me. I work a lot, so I put my food in the fridge raider still in the bag covered and everything I got to heat it up take the food out the plastic put it in the pot put the food out the pot in my bowl. that there s a roach very ridiculous and trust me. I m very clean.!

Overall Experience is cool. Always go with my coworker and it s always a great time. They did add broccoli to the menu since I last visited. Service is fast so I would say look at the menu beforehand. They should look for a bigger location!

I decided to try this place and wanted to be a little conservative in my first try, so I picked fish and chips, a traditional and good test dish, and wow, the fish was perfect, soft and very fresh, golden on the outside without being too hard, the best fish and chips I have had in a while. I am going to try the boil and the cajun fries next time.

My normal go to spot for a good seafood boil but yesterday I was sadly disappointed. I ordered the pick 3 with me and my boyfriend 2 orders of snow crab legs and shrimp with the head off. When we got our boil I thought they forgot the snow crab legs but they didn t they were just that small!!I was tempted to give the food back but didn t want to ruin the night out. I ve never seen snow crab legs that small needles to say our bill was $160 bucks and we were still starving went to Burger King right after smh

Unfortunately the management here is not good they dont value customers. I once gave this place five stars. I packed my food to go which I barely touch ,stepped out to my car and realize I left the food. I went bag into the restaurant to get my bag and the waiter already through it out when I spoke to the manager he stated the food thats in the garage is still wrapped up and he offered me the food from the GARBAGE CAN. I kept my cool and requested they make me another order.the manager got upset and stormed to the kitchen yelling in his language. I have never stepped foot back in this place..Poor management and customer service!!

a decent spot to go for seafood boils however i ve had better. the seasoning was rather off putting for me & not spicy enough. there were large portions of both snow crab legs & shrimp which was great! the garlic noodles were amazing, highly recommend. other than that, the food was good just not good enough for me to think about the next time i ll be back.
This location is so stingy with the portions. The Frederick Douglass location was much better. I received only one corn out of the four complimentary corn and potatoes. There was no sauce in my bag and i paid $7 extra for sausage and receive only a few piece. I called the manager about my order and he was determined to argue with me about an order he didn t even fulfill. Talk about customer service. Boils are expensive as is, the least you can do is make sure people are getting their moneys worth!
I finally made it here after so many people raving about this resturant.. Went for.daughters Birthday too late for sit down. Has to take to go. I ordered snow scrabs a s shrimps with mild sauce. .My food tastes like a whole box of salt fell in the bag. I couldnt eat it. Food is over priced and over salted. Never again

The restaurant is comfortable, spacious and clean. They give out plastic gloves so you could eat your seafood with your hands, which I enjoyed doing. The staff was friendly and attentive to us. The food is good but very greasy on account of the sauce. Thats why they put it in a bag. The alchol drinks are put into a plastic pouch! I normally order out but wanted to feel the atmosphere of the restaurant. Its a great place to go alone or with family and friends!
I Legit Order From Here Almost Every Week Faithfully. Here I Am About To Order My Usual, And I Notice They Hiked Up The Price. Normally Shrimp Head Off Is An Additional $3. Now Its $21 !! That Is A Crazy Difference. Snow Crab Was $27.95 Now Its At $38. Thats Crazy. I Think They Just Lost Me As A Customer. Thats Just Too Expensive Now. I Spent A Lot Of Money Here As I Love The Food And Taste Here But It Sucks. Once These Places Get Popular, They Start Doing The Most.
Best lemon pepper fries. They do not give you the option of using cash when checking out for pick up. Small establishment with no waiting area and the potatoes they use are not a good selection for the seafood boil. Great workers, subpar service. Shaking Crab have more flavor options.
One of the best seafood boil I ve had. We order the pick 4 combo. It was delicious! BYOB so make sure you bring plenty of your favorite wine or beer.

My first and last time there. And I I put the entire order in rhe trash can and ordered from another place that atleast understand english.
They need a person who speak English to take orders or someone who knows how to explain the menu . Service POOR. Food Good.

Always ideal to dine in or take out, for any occasion. I have frequent other locations and they just do not compare to Cap t Loui on Broadway. The cocktails and oysters are a steal even after happy hour. The staff and owner Jimmy are professional, hospitable and awesome. Highly recommend!
I just had the lemon pepper fries, it was cool but has a sweet taste, not peppery or lemony
Now I see why this place has almost 5 stars. I ordered the pick 3 with snow crabs, shrimp, crawfish, and received a free order of mussels with the order. My side was the garlic noodles. You must select get it in the bag! It was delicious. So flavorful and great portions. Spicy level Hot! It definitely had a nice kick of spice I ordered for take-out via website and it was ready on time. A must try!
The worstttt expierience ever !! Got two boil bags combo took the order to go and when I picked it up and realized it . Half my order was missing 130$ down the drain . The manager had the audacity to tell me I took the food . Drove 30 min !! Really bad customer service try another location
