I absolutely love the food and service here.
The food was OK. The atmosphere was pleasant. The service was pretty good. I ordered Fried Rice with shrimp, fish with cabbage soup, pork ribs, and the fermented egg for our dessert. I liked the fried rice the best out of all I ordered. Fermented egg can be more fermented.
Zha jiangmian was fantastic. So was the signature Lanzhou beef noodles. Twice cooked pork was a little on the fatty side. String beans were good but a bit on salty side. Space is limited so a loud group next to us made our experience less than ideal but overall we enjoyed it. Would definitely go back just for the zha jiang mian and beef noodles. Price was good too
Delicious foods here! They served with large portion for each dishes, spicy but yummy. Would like visit again and try more dishes~ it was too full to two people but we still finished them all. Also recommended the hot milk tea here, tasty and good for a cold autumn night ;)
I find the food here just fabulous and the prices very fair. There is currently a prawn special and it's so fresh as if it just came from the market. Great presentation and attention to details like serving at an optimal food temperature (i.e., hot dishes not scalding, cold ones not like right out of a fridge, but just right). Staffers aren't there to be your friends but instead are very efficient. Well done!
Came to this restaurant with a friend who is from Northwestern China so you know from the get-go this place has to be pretty amazing! Really enjoyed eating signature beef noodle where you can choose 5 diff noodle options (fun!) and it's 9 bucks. Quality and portions were great. Also beef Tenderloin soup is a must! So tangy and flavorful but its 18 bucks and not that big so you should share it with others as an appetizer. Will def come back again.
We had high expectations of this place because of the positive reviews. The staff and service was good but the food was not worth it at all. The skewers were undercooked and they slapped too much turmeric on it. The popcorn chicken was okay, nothing great. I’d suggest to take tour money elsewhere. Not a good experience.
The noodle is not hand pulled. The noodle is above the average but it is not authentic Lanzhou noodle because the base soup is not too light. And they automatically add chilly oil which is not good because it should be the customer to decide. You can choose the shape of noodle from thin to thick. The lamb kebab is good which is juicy and tender. The atmosphere is excellent. The price is decent.
bad services(no water refilling through the whole dinner) but chase for tips
The food there are not enough enough, and not even delicious. Feel like I am throwing my money into a dead pool, with even no ripples.
Dunhuangs hand-shredded cabbage is the best hand-shredded cabbage here at Columbia! Stir-fried green beans are also delicious. I remember the dry pot cauliflower was pretty good too. The mapo tofu seems to be a bit lacking in taste, but because the hand-shredded cabbage is delicious, I still give you full marks . Friends who like noodles can try the Roujiamo and Lanzhou Ramen, both are good The braised lamb is served with wide noodles, and the shrimps are also good. The liquid noodles in the appetizer were not delicious. Vegetarian options: Hand-shredded cabbage, stir-fried beans, and mapo tofu are all meatless, but the first two dishes are more recommended. In addition, you can confirm with the clerk that the dry-pot cauliflower and stir-fried Shanghai greens should be vegetarian-friendly.
The meat was uncooked, no taste, disaster, vegatables too, when I complained they did not care much STAY AWAY I would give 0 srars if I could..
The food is the average and the service is certainly the worst. The Asian young man, presumably the owner, is extremely mean and rude. Just so arrogant and condescending.
Yummy food good as the choices of authentic Chinese is harder in uptown
My 4yo daughter loved the noodles. Tsingtao and beef and noodles on a budget makes me very happy. Kid-friendliness: They were extremely good with my toddler
Affordable, fast, and authentic beef noodles
Best Chinese noodle around the area! Order the noodles!
Awful food!
Authentic experience. Fresh to the taste ingredients. Ordered Dun Huang Noodles and Mala Veg Noodles (aka OG Chow Mein!) Picked up fresh-dough aroma from the kitchen as they were pounding it to make hand-pulled noodles. You ve got to ask for extra, thick noodles! Also, boba-tea next door is part of the restaurant
Its okay, but Kung Pao Chicken is too sweet and not very delicious.
The pork feet were tough and the appetizer chicken wings were outrageously salty. The noodles were good and chewy. But they wouldn t give me a $1 pack of hot chili oil even though I ordered $62 worth of food. I don t carry cash. They said I needed to go back and order it on the app even though it wasn t on the menu that I ordered from. Petty
Very disappointed.. noodles was sticking together and they were deferent size. Service was ok .
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants that is not in Chinatown. Their food is mind blowing. The staff is amazing and the service is very good and quick. I just cannot get enough of this place and I hope that a lot of Chinese restaurants can learn from this one. Cannot wait for my next visit!
Wonderfull small place. Cozy and quick to get into. I love the tea and vast variety of CFood. Has that Hong Kong flavors to it. I will return and bring all my friends
Another great spot that I went to with my kids ,with great food
Quiet place and nice servants!
Signature L-anzhou Beef Noodles give diarrhea
I came from seattle the first time order with this restaurant. I asked if to go the noodles will stick, she said she never heard that before, now I show you how it is. I don t know what happened with the old lady (front desk), she is so mean.
The veggie options are great, something I find hard to find in Chinese food. Theres some Sichuan style stuff, its certainly not the default American Chinese food thats just deep fried stuff in sugar sauce.
If you like authentic Chinese, this is the place.
I have to say that Dunhuangs ramen tastes the most right, and the fineness is absolutely right. recommend! recommend!
good
phenomenal underrated place. get the braised noodle soup with wide noodle. good price, great food, great service
I hope the owner of this store can read this review. Your current male waiter is really terrible! I hope the owner of this restaurant can see this review. We are a regular and usually had a good experience dinning here. However, they have a such a terrible waiter now, this young guy is so rude and has no respect for the customers. He is so condescending and I seriously dont know how such a person can work as a waiter. He refused to give us his name, I just hope that his boss knows this and fires him. He will ruin this business.
The service is suck
Worst customer service I have ever encountered in NYC. The korean or chinese service guy came to me and told me that you need to pay for food while I was drinking tea. So I paid for it but I did not pay tips since the way he asked for the bill is so annoying and rude and the food is so so. Then he said to me you need to leave right now because you did not pay the tips and took the bowl and plane away from the table. What kind of rude behaviour! This service guy does not have manner and respect in there. This guy will ruin the buisness. Manager lady is mean as well.
So so service, the guy at the counter is anti-social, and has poor manners
I saw a bug on the plate after I finished my food, and the waitress didnt apologize at all after I pointed it out. She just took away the plate and left. It was gross and Ill never come again
The roujiamo was perfect, and the radish cut in the ramen was a bit thick.
The taste of pre-made dishes is normal. It s arrogant to tip for takeout.
Worst service ever. Dont go there.
Amazed to find this gem in our neighborhood.. flavourful food in a wonderful atmosphere with the nicest waiting staff! Im sure Ill be back here often..
A good Chinese Restaurant if you would like to try for any Chinese noodle. They have veggie options as well
Im in a wheelchair and when my partner and I came at 6pm, only one table was occupied. A large table in the front room would have been perfect--lots of legroom and no blocked aisle. If the restaurant filled up, we would have been happy to share it. But the tall, skinny man at the cash register insisted we take a small table in the back room, one with little legroom. Moreover, the wheelchair would have partially blocked anyone entering the room. We walked out, not wanting to eat at a place that shows contempt for its customers.
The thin, Asian man who works there is extremely rude, while we were there he told a Venezuelan guy who was struggling with his English that this was America and he could go back to where he came from. I think they should have people much more pleasant than that.
I am a delivery person and there is a thin, Asian guy that works there, that treats delivery personal very very horribly. He even said to another delivery person that he could go back to where he came from because this was America and he needed to speak English. He also told me that he had nothing to talk to me about when I went to ask him a question.
Food 5/5 A very wide selection of authentic Northern Chinese dishes. The noodles were the right amount of chew and flavor, loved the soup. The cumin lamb was a highlight, super tender and the spices tingled the right amount in my mouth. The mung bean noodles were very refreshing, while the braised lamb shoulder was also super tender, you can taste how much effort and time was put in cooking it. I will definitely come back again for a casual meal with friends. Interior 4/5 Pretty simple wooden interior setup, unfortunately, the chairs we sat on were for a long table and did not have backs. My back was not that happy. Service 5/5 Because we were celebrating someones birthday, they were kind enough to store our huge cake in the fridge until we finished our meal. Friendly and helpful staff.
Favorite noodle in NYC!
How can I tell how much I love this place? Cost efficient and so many delicious dishes. My friends and I visit here every week for lunch and try new things and never got dissapointed yet. This is just amazing
Delicious food and reasonably priced! Love the spicy cabbage dish.
One of my favorite noodle places in the city! If you re looking for a real Lanzhou cuisine ramen, this is the place you would love.
Affordable and extremely delicious!
Food is horrible and over priced. I ordered more than $40 that included signature beef noodle, spicy popcorn chicken and Ma po tofu. To be specific, the popcorn chicken is just pure fried dough and it costs $18. save your money and spend somewhere else. I would give it half a star if I can
This costs $18?! The chicken pieces are smaller than my fingernails, where is the meat? It s just fruit powder! Definitely won t go there again! Expensive and terrible Mapo tofu doesn t even come with rice
Very good noodles and hospitality
I ordered noodles online from them, and there was a fly in it. The literally worst dinner.
Fast delivery. Big flavors. But ultimately very high prices for what they serve. Makes me question the few specific reviews here that highlight good value. $25 for a basic Chinese take out chicken dish (not including the rice) is extremely high.
Everything is better than before.food.noodle.service.
A Co-Worker of mine suggested this restaurant. Especially the N1 dish on the menu must say I wasnt disappointed. This is my take out meal when Im going out to lunch.
Garlic with noodle. Niubi!
The food was so-so, the soup was not authentic, the waiters were very bad and asked me for a high tip, which didnt match their service at all. If you do not welcome customers to come, you can completely close, there is no need to perfunctory others, which is really impolite, also affect the mood of the whole day.
Pros: Food was delicious, environment was good and super clean, staff was very friendly and cute. Cons: Food was so little with the price they ask. Dont like everything served in top wares (I know its during Covid time still).
Some of the best noodles on Manhattan, certainly best in the upper west side.
Food and service were great! I only got the spice beef and noodles, but I really want to try the rest of their menu.
There is nothing like this in NJ! There are 9 locations and the quality has clearly been maintained in this busy suburb. Fresh pulled noodles, easy parking and a polite staff are the highlights. I recommend: Cucumber salad Wood Ear Mushroom salad Braised beef noodle - worth the upgrade for the better quality meat Monstrous chicken
Great price and the best noodles I ve had in the city so far.
I loved their lamb honestly, was beyond my expectations. As for their noodles, please dont get them, or else you will regret it.
Decent food but horrible service. Did not let us leave because we didnt tip enough. Is this even legal? Can they force you to tip at least 15%? They said their wage was low so they had to rely on tips, but their employer should make it up to the minimum wage. That is, unless they are pressured to make enough from tips so that their boss wont have to pay up.
Having a good time several years ago, I made a long way to be here again. Well, not surprising me this time but food is fine. However, what disappointed me is their service. Only broungt me a water and food. Thats it. Dont think they deserved tipping but still did. Then the waitress came back me to saying they REQUIRED a 15% minimum, a rule. Fine, tip you more, and never came back.
Didnt really hit the spot
Not a bad choice if you want to have some Asian spicy meat hot noodle soup. It was interesting that they let us choose thickness of noodle.
Best Chinese restaurant near columbia university Like the lamb so much Fresh quality and nice cook
My wife and I ate there yesterday. We were totally underwhelmed. The Ribs we ordered were horrible. What arrived at our table were tiny, dice sized pieces of bone with dried meat and no juicy plum sauce which was advertised on the menu. Next came the Kung Pau Chicken and the Pan Fried Noodles with chicken. The chicken in both dishes was gristley and unedible. The food also arrive almost cold. We will not be back.
Maybe the best lanzhou ramen in the city.
Food is decent but overly priced and very small dishes.
This is the cuisine from my hometown China. And the hand pull noodles are almost the same thing. A must try food chain. This brand will only get bigger and bigger!!
Reasonably priced and fairly accessible for Upper Manhattan residents, which is a welcome addition to the neighborhood!
Very good noodles
They ran out of noodles and rice, but it was Lunar New year Eve. I will return to try their noodles. Hopefully at a tolerable spicy level!
Finally we have some delicious and more authentic northwestern Chinese food uptown! This restaurant is pleasant and cozy with dark wood panelling and comfortable seating. The staff are friendly and efficient making it a very reasonable choice for a quick bite. The chicken pan fried noodles are the best version of chicken lo mien that I have had in a long time. I also ordered the spicy crispy fried eggplant on the specials list and it was one of the most interesting delicious eggplant preparations I have ever eaten! All other bar snacks need to step aside because this spicy fried eggplant is now what I dream of to snack on with cold beer.
Absolutely DELICIOUS! We had the veg tofu entree and it was enough for two. We cant wait to go back. So glad we walked by and decided to have dinner here. Staff is wonderful and quick. Also loved the spicy flat noodle appetizer. Cant say enough good things!
Best Sichuan I ve ever had. Loved the cold noodles but can t seem to order them the same as I used to, I think they changed the name.
Not authentic food. Overpriced.
If you want some quick delicious noodles on the west side of Harlem, this is the spot. The noodles came out fast and were hot and tasty. Would certainly head back here for a quick bite or fast meal on the way out for the night.
Good food, but small portions, and terrible service. Despite the fact that we made reservations, they had us waiting outside for over an hour until everyone had arrived. Then they kept walking past us/ignoring us when we were inside because we were a large group. We had to aggressively wave them down for several minutes just to order, get the bill, get more water, etc. Would not recommend for large parties.
New York City has so many choices for Lamien. Its been a long time since Ive been impressed with the flavor and texture of noodles. Today, I was pleasantly surprised with my Single Strand Noodle Soup. 100% recommend this place for everyone.
Dan Huang is a great Chinese place. Finally we have a good Chinese place near the UWS. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because it misrepresents the world of the ancient silk roads. It said that China and Europe were superior cultures that met on the silk roads. Other than this, everything is great! I orderd the Signature Beef Noodles. They were very good. They were spicy, and the soup tasted sweet and great. It tasted like I hoped it would taste like. The flatbreads were great. They were not spicy, but they were sweet. The service was very good. The servers were very friendly, and they were not a lot like the service that you would find in any other Chinese place. The atmosphere was nice. When I went there, it was not busy and not loud, and the lights made the experience much better.
Great noodles at an affordable price. Service was quick, we got our main dishes within 5 minutes of ordering.
Good authentic Chinese food
I ate at Dun Huang a few times while visiting the area. My favourite restaurant in the neighborhood. Fresh innovative dishes. Recommended.
Love the noodles here, slightly biased as I really like beef noodle soup, but its pretty amazing. With noodle refills and meat based appetizers I think its also a pretty good deal if you come hungry.
Authentic noodle shop the food is good and highly recommended by natives but keep in mind that authentic good treated very different from typical Chinese restaurants
Great hand pulled noodles excellent broth!
Stuff are very rude, plate and water cup are not clean, food very normal, over priced.
Soooooo good. Try the lamb!
It was not as good as before after they trying so hard to include everything you can find from other Chinese restaurant. The food were not authentic nor tasty. Disappointed. The staff knows little about the menu. The cup wasn t clean. Sadly removed the star from my own map.
For this food and service it is Overpriced! Stay away.
Great portion and authentic flavors.
Authentic noodles that are house made.
Best Chinese Ramen in upper west!
Ok
Pretty good except the beef was somewhat overcooked and flavorless.
Great traditional food from Northern China. Had the pigs feet. Very tender. Party of two arrived at 11:40. By 12:20 it was packed for lunch.
Been multiple times and ordered different things. All taste great. Im a fan of the hand-pulled noodles. The meat/tofu are always cooked well. Portion sizes can vary across items. Needs more vegetarian options. Staff tends to be rude sometimes.

Very traditional Lanzhou noodle. Cheap and delicious.
Very excited this restaurant is just down the street from me. Tried it for dinner, had lamb mutton appetizer, spicy noodles and double sautéed pork. All were deliciously spiced, interesting and fun to eat. Can t wait for my next trip here. Staff is friendly, will explain the food and offer to spice it to the level you like.
Nice restaurant with delicious food. Good add to the neighborhood
Tasty!
This restaurant is so damn good!
Traditional noodle with very thin noodles
The pan fried noodles were pretty great.
Good food, nice environment, friendly service. I like their Lanzhou noodle soup and shredded cabbage. For Lanzhou noodle soup they offer to have the chili oil on the side, so that you can tune the spiciness however you like.
The ramen is very delicious and the side dishes are also good. It s just that the sour plum soup that costs four dollars a cup is too shabby, as if it s half a cup. We asked the waiter, You only have so much sour plum soup? She said, yes, that s all. Then, I suggest you change to a smaller cup to look less pitiful. I hope you can pour more sour plum soup for the people who order it later, so that this little bit of sour plum soup does not affect the customer experience.
The food is good. However, for the price the portion of the food is way too small....
Absolutely phenomenal. This is our new favorite place in the area. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. We recommend the fish rolls, chicken wings, and their noodle bowls. Cant wait to try more. This place deserves a lot of business.
We had mapo tofu, zha Jiang man, and braised pork feet. It was very good and we will come back.
the noodle is fine, the other dishes are awful. Lamb was served cold and raw. Worst thing is they come again and tried to make us leave after we tolded them we have called uber at the first time. Its really my first experience that a restaurant is not willing to wait 5 more mins for a paid customer. Worst experience ever.
Authentic! And I like the deco more than the one in East village. Price is reasonable too. Get the beef noodle pls!
Reasonably legit China northwestern fare
A surprise find in the Columbia neighborhood. For those willing to entertain more authentic menu offerings.
My favorite restaurant north of 60th street. Very authentic Chinese cuisine. Spicy popcorn chicken is fantastic. Mouth watering chicken is fantastic. Braised lamb shoulder is fantastic. Cumin lamb is fantastic. Everything is fantastic.
Great noodle place!! Food is delicious. Restaurant very new, friendly staff, good service. Highly recommend you sure try soon.
terrible price and terrible taste
Food is average. The portion is extremely small. The waiter has bad attitude problem. Bad experience :(
bad service
Beef is not fresh. Tofu is just so-so.
Delicious and authentic-- homemade noodles have that QQ.de texture!
Handmade noodles were very good- I got the noodles with peppers and onions. My husband got Beef, Peppers, Onions and Curry, which he enjoyed. The waitress was friendly and food was fairly fast for homemade noodles. Pricing wasnt bad for New York. But it was very slow getting the check after we were done eating.
Excellent ambiance and the food is pretty decent. I would say it is a bit pricey but I think their menu is more authentic than other chinese restaurants in the area. Most food here is a bit spicy.
