3141 Broadway, New York, NY 10027, United States
NYC neighborhood favorite Chinese and dumpling spot with lots of great vegan and vegetarian options.
Mid to be honest. Ordered the szechuan tofu and first they made it with soft tofu which I prefer firm and then Secondly the sauce texture and flavor wasn't thick nor rich enough to what I prefer. Also ordered the oickled cabbage noodle which without the soup and pork and tofu instead which wasn't bad, just again low flavor. The service and place/atmosphere was great though! Also prices were really high for what you got. The portions weren't even that big. Just can in deep and wide bowls. They give you like a cup and hald of rice too, very little. Overpriced.
La Salle Dumpling Room Layout/atmosphere *Eighteen tables inside; black & white photos of people and scenery from China on one wall; blue floral plates on another wall; tables on elevated deck on sidewalk under awnings Food/drink *Steamed Pork Dumplings (with soy sauce) - Good *Hot & Spicy Diced Chicken (with white rice) - good; some heat but salty *Thai Ice Tea - OK; sweet, milky almost coffee ish taste
Such a lovely place. Had fried pork dumplings for lunch and took home an order of cold sesame noodles. Yummy.
Saw the spot on seamless forever, was walking by a decided to drop in for a meal. The place is clean with interesting decoration, old photographs adorn the walls. Server was friendly and quick. The steam dumplings were large but bland, needs seasoning in the filling, dipping sauce only helped a little. Beef chili noodle soup was flavorful, tender beef, peppers and noodle in a delicious light broth.
Dining at La Salle Dumpling Room was an absolute delight from start to finish. If you're a fan of dumplings or looking to explore the world of dumplings, this place is a must-visit. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm and friendly service. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or a relaxed family dinner. The star of the show, of course, is the dumplings themselves. Each dumpling is a work of art, with delicate, handcrafted wrappers and flavorful fillings. It's evident that the chefs here take their craft seriously. The flavors were exceptional. Whether you prefer your dumplings steamed, pan-fried, or in a comforting bowl of soup, you won't be disappointed. The dipping sauces provided the perfect balance to enhance the taste without overpowering the natural flavors of the dumplings.
Had the pork dumplings and cold sesame noodles. I’ve been looking for noodles like this for a long time! They are so delicious and have the perfect amount of sauce on them. The dumplings tasted very home made in the best meaning of the word! They tasted so fresh. I was served very quickly and got my food quickly. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area. I’ll be back to try the other dishes for sure. Note: I spent about $20 on both the noodles and the dumplings, and it made me quite full.
The original Soup Dumplings were very flavorful and served with dipping sauce with lemon rind slivers was a great start. Next I ordered General Tso’s Chicken which although very simple came with rice and steamed broccoli but only wish there was more sauce… Service was friendly and efficient.
Ordered pork dumplings with crabmeat and coconut milk bubble tea. Dumplings were so good had to order another round but with shrimp. 5/5 Bubble tea was great, too, not too sweet. It was very quiet for Sunday afternoon, waitresses was very attentive, overall good experience, would like to come back to try pan fried dumplings and specials.
Always great food good service
We had it delivered so no atmosphere. Delivery was on-time and food was intact. Food was delicious and hot. It s expensive though. Food
Best almost noodles in the city.
(Delivery) Disappointing. Pricey (all in $80 for two people) and tasteless. (Steamed pork dumplings, spare ribs, chicken and broccoli, chicken lo mein)
excellent delivery.. always good food
Good dumplings never eaten in only take out
Definitely the best Chinese food in the neighborhood at either branch. Great vegan options as well. Price is a drawback. Definitely not your cheapie takeout place.
We usually have the food delivered. Fantastic soup dumplings, and everything else is consistently excellent.
Ive only ever eaten the Cumin Beef dish. Its addictive. You wont regret it.
expensive taste not great.. service was also not great.. forced us to pay more tips after please, there are so many better restaurants around the area !
Just bad. Overcooked dry chicken, overcooked dry scallion pancakes, tasteless dumplings. Really a shame to spend far too much on such mediocre food. So much great food in NYC to choose from, so recommend you skip this option.
Really great Chinese food. Just a bit pricey but delicious and fresh
Delicious food with many plant based options
My husband is vegetarian / plant-based so we ve never eaten soup dumplings together. I was blown away by how delicious the plant-based soup dumplings here were. They have an entire menu that is creative Chinese plant-based. We had the Dan Dan and the cold sesame noodles and all hit the spot.
The dumplings are good. I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for six years. It s convenient and probably the best affordable Chinese in the area. I ve been rushed out of the restaurant a couple of times after paying the check. This is unnecessary and quite rude. Dropping the check at a table and saying closed is not nice. There are other ways of politely asking customers to leave.
The best soup dumplings I ve had in the city. Spicy kimchi and crab are my favorite. I love that the staff is very friendly and Worth a trip to UWS for some of their soup dumplings
Highly recommended. Very good prices and abundant quantity. Everything was delicious, the dan dan noodles were spectacular. The scallion pancake was very good and the bread fried dumplings too. I really liked everything and the waitresss service was good. I will repeat for sure!
Really tasty dumplings near Columbia campus! However, it s a bit on the pricy side especially for college students.
Enjoyed the pork xiao long bao and popcorn chicken
Best Chinese restaurant around here
Great food. Very clean withal a great ambience! Highly recommend!
This has to be the best place for dumplings in NYC!
Great food! Dumplings, rice, noodles, veggies, it s all great. We are from out of state and this is the place I compare food to back home. Still haven t found food that matches. We ll be back again and again!
They have options, but Ive only done the soup dumplings. Not very soupy, just enough. Every time I have to get two orders of the dumplings 6 just didnt cut it for me. Ive only done the seafood and the kimchi. Just soo good.
Taste good
Dumpling skin has a weird texture and mugwort flavor, and cumin beef lacked balance.
The best steamed vegetables dumplings!!!
My family loves this restaurant. We eat here almost once a week. The pan fried pork dumplings are my son s favorite. We always love the string beans! Fast service, quality, food, fair price. Never disappoints.
Home delivery- on time, hot and consistently great tasting!
Good soup dumplings and beef noodle soup. Some beef pieces were a bit tough and others were perfect
Vegan soup dumplings were delicious but everything else really lacked flavor. The rice cake was bland and sliced very thin. The dang dang noodles were basically spaghetti with oil, and the chili cauliflower was limp and bland. We didnt receive our tea or scallion pancake so Im afraid I cant review those items! Passable but wont return. Vegetarian options: Decent plant based menu
Dump on them dumplings.
As a man who has ate in almost every Chinese spot in Manhattan, this restaurant is absolutely quite something else. No ,literally. The restaurant looks absolutely phenomenal, its amazing how they could build a contemporary yet 100% Chinese styled restaurant in Harlem. The dishes all tastes authentic but also combined with some improvements in them( for Americans of course). Not the biggest menu you might notice, but that is precisely what makes them unique, each dish has been cooked over and over again everyday, saturated with the chefs experiences and techniques. Trust me, its quite something!!
Delicious, love coming back here I recommend everything but only get spicy if you can handle heat, its not too intense though so dont be scared.
The dumplings are VERY mediocre.
Excellente ramen and I absolutely love the dumplings with spicy vinegar. It s quite pricy tho.
Dan dan noodle is the best
The service and food were great!
The snow pickled cabbage noodle + pork is the best! Very fresh. The pork dumpling has a lot of soup. I love everything. Chinese people approve this Chinese food!
General TSO was not good. Under cooked and not tasty. I m sure other items on the menu are good but this ain t it.
Very good
Ive never seen a vegan xio long bao before or dan dan noodls. Ive not been able to ear pork for a very long time, and xio long bao was one of my favorites and same with dan dan, so happy to have it again! Absolutely delicious! Its so sad this restaurant isnt in Toronto ): . Also, they have a wide variety of bubble tea. I got the lychee, which was also delicious :) Vegetarian options: Amazing options for vegans and vegetarians!
Not bad I liked Fried Rice
Highly recommend the plant based xiao long bao and dan dan noodles! Many vegetarian options are available and staff were able to prepare gluten free dishes (but not gluten free dumplings).
Excellent place for dumplings.
overall good experience, attentive staff and good fresh food.
This place has been open over 5 years and I have never been, until recently now i regret never going in that time span. The food is amazing and always fresh the shrimp fried rice is superb
Food was ok, not something you d be craving come back again and again.
I ve been four times just in the last month! Attentive service, sweet but-not-too-sweet boba, tasty kimichi pork soup dumplings, and the beef scallion pancakes are fantastic. Plus, reasonably priced! This place deserves more stars
Good food and staff.
The soup dumplings and chicken lo mein was absolutely out of this world
Simply good dumplings. Quick service, fresh food, basic atmosphere, fair prices. Reliable and comforting food at a reasonable price, a NYC unicorn!
Great place to check out, my wife and I loved it here! Very clean restaurant on the inside. The chicken lo mein was fantastic and definitely try the pan fried pork dumplings.
Food is DELICIOUS. Loved the vegan dumplings. Quick and friendly service. Will definitely be back :) Vegetarian options: Big plant-based menu. All options tasty.
I ve only ever done takeout. But this place is always fantastic. Great dishes both staples and some terrific specialties. Try the rice cakes and pork, the popcorn chicken, and the beef scallion pancake. Lots of great options.
I did a take out through grubhub. It was the worst noodle soup I ve ever ate. Pretty sure they used spaghetti in it. The pork was dry and tasted terribly. Never again.
Home cooking vibes, soup noodles tasted like my moms cooking, would totally buy food from here if I am homesick. Taste-wise felt like something I can cook, but it is always great if I am lazy.
Very good
La Salle Dumplings was a great spot for me and my friends to eat until today. The women who took my order today was very rude and nasty to me from the minute I walked in and ordered I like to pay ahead and always request it in to go plates as I only have a 30 minute lunch break, I payed with my card but didnt tip on the card because Id rather tip in cash as I leave based on the service, as I asked for condiments she mentioned next time I should tip, very disrespectful and she rolled her eyes when we asked for a bag as my guest and I left. She targeted my guest and I personally and no one else, so it wasnt a bad day she just maybe prejudiced
Food was decent, drinks were delicious
Best soup dumplings, authentic and delicious dishes.
The food here is pretty good and the people that work here are pretty friendly as well.
Delicious authentic Szechuan food
Really good food & service. Vegetarian opinions
Good location, good atmosphere, and good food. Foods were prepared quickly and had no issues with the staffs. Its spacious and definitely recommend if you are in the area.
Best dumplings in the neighborhood! Outdoor seating when it s nice out. The Thai tea is also nice.
Dumplings were great! We enjoyed the edamame and scallion pancakes as well. We also got the braised beef noodle soup. The beef was delicious, but the noodles were a bit over cooked for me. Overall, very good experience!
The Xiaolongbao were good, but the spicy cumin lamb really stood out - actually spicy, extremely flavorful. Seems like a spot to keep coming to, since the menu was pretty real - yes, general tsos, but also some more authentic.
The fried dumplings and scallion pancakes are a must. The smoothie can be skipped, way too sweet.
Friendly staff and the food was excellent. It is reasonably priced for anywhere but especially NYC
I love going to La Salle Dumpling. My favorite dish is snow cabbage with shredded pork noddle soup. The manager is friendly, the service is good and the ambiance is pleasant. The location is one block south of 125th street subway station on Broadway. Check it out.
The best soup dumplings ever.
Best soup dumplings on the west side. Chicken dumplings with spicy vinaigrette is awesome too.
Delivery was fast, food was hot and packed well. Kimchi pork dumplings and string beans were good. Hot and Spicy chicken was not good--the flavor and texture seemed really off. The General Tsos chicken was dry and stringy. The cold sesame noodles werent great. Prices were much to high for the quality.
Holy-Moly! Their kimchi dumplings are so good, they stole the show from the dan-dan noodles which were already a solid 9/10!
Chicken with Broccoli-overcooked General Tso Chkn-greasy and overcooked I often order from here but don t think I will anymore. Food has progressively declined in quality and flavor. Very overpriced as well.
The waitress had a bad attitude and they tried to tell me I shoukd share a meal with my friend. The shrimp and chicken had was all ginger. I would not go back.
Big portions, dumpling skin is too thick
The service is great and the food is great. The scallion pancake and cold sesame noodles were bomb
Nice Chinese place for delicious dumplings, along Broadway. I have tried almost all dumplings on their menu & my favorite is the Chicken Dumplings with Spicy Vinaigrette. Shrimp is great too. Taro milkshake is luscious & inviting. Moderately priced & Best for group dining.
This place was highly recommended for their dumplings and popcorn chicken. Tried them both and was pleasantly surprised. Both were delicious. Place is small . Service was excellent.
Incredibly delicious!
Stick with the dumplings. Their Spicy Diced Chicken was bland, and the rice was underdone. At $18 they could have put one or two chilies into the dish. They used bell peppers.
It s gotten ridiculously expensive.
Bubble tea was subpar AT BEST. Dumplings were good. Too much money for shitty artificial bubble tea, jfc.
Delicious dumplings. Didnt get a full 5 stars because the prices are high, yes, even for NYC.
I been to this place twice, the food is very good. Great ambience the place is clean good customer service. I give 5 stars
Amazing restaurant food is fresh really good and great service is a 10
I had the delicious beef low mein!! The portion was large, with tasty noodles & bokchow. Very flavorful. With comforting house tea. I really enjoyed it all!! Friendly service & staff.
My girl and I had the pork and kimchi soup dumplings (6),its her fav at this spot. I enjoyed the soup in the dumplings, a bit tangy from the hint of kimchi flavor. The rice cake was good and big meat. Overall cute place but kind of expensive. ($46)
Excellent vegetarian dumplings
Soup dumplings are delicious!
Perhaps THE best Chinese food in Harlem (the fried rice could use bean sprouts) and by far the best dumplings in town. Situated right off the 1 train on W. 125th st. Try their shrimp dumplings and smoothie (lychee). Cant go wrong with that.
The pork dumplings are perfect everytime. Its also really quick service if youre short on time.
Delicious Chinese tea. Clean, unique design, friendly servers.
The dumplings are ok. Mapo tofu was not authentic. But their noodle dishes are good. I wouldnt order dumplings despite the name.
Vegan menu including impossible soup dumplings!! They were delicious and super satisfying
The pan fried pork dumplings were good! but the pork belly ramen was LACKLUSTER. When you think of a pork based ramen you think of a rich fatty pork flavored soup base and nice flavored pork pieces, this has none of that. The egg was also way over done for a ramen bowl. If you want ramen order from somewhere else, but if you want dumplings this is the place to go!
Honestly, my favorite soup dumpling place in the city. I know a lot of people rave about Joe s in Chinatown or Nanxiang out in Flushing but something about how well La Salle s XLB are executed sits well with me. The flavor is super clean and it s perfectly sized, just can t be beat in my book. Only thing is it s a tad on the pricy side.
The host at the restaraunt is the rudest person. We called to check on our food and she had the nastiest attitude and would not help at all. She mocked us when we spelled our name. I m never ordering from here ever again. I dont even know where my food is at this point
Excellent Food and service
Been there twice now. Scallion pancakes are so good. The steamed veggie dumplings are amazing too - the filling is actual greens, no filler, perfectly seasoned. My second visit included the scallions pancakes again (theyre that good) and the pork soup dumplings - comparable to what I will get in Chinatown. Im definitely returning here.
Their food is amazing. Its sad their other location near Columbus circle appears to have closed.
I freakin love this place. I probably order from here every other week. The beef lo mein is to die for. The pan fried dumplings, the chicken dumplings in that sauce. It s all fantastic. I m a regular and they never miss. They also deliver at the speed of light.
The scallion pancakes at La Salle Dumpling are to die for, so crispy and flakey with great flavor. Additionally their chicken and broccoli always hits the spot! Love this place!
Chicken Brocolli, General Tso, Pan Friend Dunplings, Pork n Crab soup dumplings and Honeydew Green Tea. First off, tea was decent, but dont expect top shelf tapioca. Chicken Brocolli and the General Tsos (could have been crispier) was well seasoned, a relatively decent upgrade to regular fast food takeout . Pork dumplings however, fell off the cliff unfortunately. High expectation from the first 2 entries really stacked the plate on it but the flavor fell completely flat. The filling had no impact, tasted more of a ginger cabbage mix than juicy ground pork, the balance was off. Dipping sauce was standard fair, soy and vinegar, hint of ginger. Comparable to regular takeout dumplings. Soup dumplings are a solid 4/5, filling was juicy, flavor was pronounced and present unlike the pan fried version. Need to get beef wrapped scallion pancakes before a finalized decision.
Been here twice so far, the first time I got veggie dumplings based on other reviews and beef pancake wrap-YUM. The second time I ate here I got pan fried dumplings and those blew the veggie dumplings out of the water!! Delish :) great place in Morningside to get dumplings. Looking forward to trying some of their other menu items. Both times food has been hot and fresh.
Reported this place to the department of health. Received severe food poisoning/stomach virus (confirmed via several tests) from this place (100% certain it was this place) and am still recovering. I ordered dandan noodles. If you work there and read this, understand that you can kill people this way. I lost time off of work, painful days suffering, feeling like death. I live with an immunocompromised person. If they would have gotten sick who knows what result could have come from this. To anyone else reading this, check out their record on the depart of health website, turns out they repeatedly failed to maintain sanitary standards going back years.
One of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Good food and great customer service. The food is always good and this place is always a vibe
String beans are delicious! The interior design is really good too!
Not the best dumplings. Too much dough in the soup dumpling. Very low dumpling selection. Entree was also okayish.
They originally had 2 locations. The one in the UWS closed near us likely due to COVID. But they are still operating at a shared location in Harlem. We really love all their dumplings, from the fried ones to the soup dumplings/xiao long bao.
The food is very delicious, everything is super good and what I really liked is the Thai Tea
Favorite their pot stickers. The skin is thin and thick, the filling is fragrant and fried just right. The Xiao Long Bao is thin and delicious, and the noodles are also good. My friends who went with us all liked it~
Great wine bar specializing in Riesling and so much more! Great staff and delicious food.
Far and away the best Chinese food place in Morningside. If you go, be sure to get some soup dumplings!
Visit this place and order one of everything.
Amazing affordable dumplings. I love their pot of green tea
Great value for money. Tasty food. Not cheap Styro plates of sugary food.
Ive been coming here for years. A bit pricy, but the soup dumplings are very good. The low mein is probably the best value and is a whole meal. Enjoy!
Not as good at it use to be.
Delicious food. Trendy place. Rice bowl was delicious.
Excellent dumplings. Great noodle dishes. Try the crabmeat dumplings, you wont be disappointed.
Good food not very expensive but not suitable for celiacs
Good noodle soup and dumpling
For the price, the food is okay
It was very tasty. I had two different types of dumplings and a noodle. They were all yummy. Staffs were very nice too.
Such a nice local place I strongly recommend! It is located little bit far from main city. You should take metro Line No.1 or other and get off at Columbia station, it is a walking distance. If you take no.1 metro, it is Manhattan music school, it is also walking distance. Within 10mins you can get there. Every dumpling I had was all good really. Eveu I ordered 2 more such as Pork chicken. Local people like music school students guranteed this place. Go now! Gogogo
Incredibly limited menu but the food is good
These dumplings are just awesome
Best dump you uptown
Incredible. The pork fried dumplings were so good and survived a lengthy delivery (not the restaurants fault). Great flavors and menu variety but the dumplings are always going to be the best item
Amazing soup dumplings
Warning: the popcorn chicken will make you addicted
Excellent Flavor
Good dumplings.
I did not enjoy the service. The food was okay
Only had steamed pork dumplings. Service was good dumplings were delicious.
Food are decent and fast.
Aurhentic Shanghai soup dumplings. The real deal. Avoid the Americanized dishes.
Great Chinese food...enjoy there noodles
Amazing soup dumplings and chicken fried rice.
Very good dumpling! And the rest of the dishes looks good also! Go try it!
Luv this place
There are two branches for this restaurant here in Manhattan. One is up on 125th St. and the other is closer to Lincoln Center. They re both fantastic. The food is delicious. I love the sesame noodles and also the pan fried pork dumplings. This is the kind of place that I m sure would be fantastic regardless of what you order. I can tell it would all be delicious. They are just great. Also, the service has always been fantastic, too. Really nice people.
The beef and soup in beef noodle soup are great! Beef is perfectly braised. However, I dont understand why they use really thin noodles. Real authentic beef noodle soup comes with thick noodles not these thin ones... The lo mein is pretty good and the dumplings are ok.
Tasty dumplings. Nice atmosphere. A bit expensive.
Absolutely delicious Dan Dan Noodles and soup dumplings. Great authentic cuisine.
Nice atmosphere. The food is very good.
First time I have been to this place and it was really good. Glad that I gave them a try. These are kimichi dumplings. Soo good.
Incredible food!! Highlights were Beef Scallion Pancake, Pork Xiao Long Bao, and Dong Jing Rice Bowl. Really nice, calming vibe inside of the restaurant as well. Service is fast too! As a newbie to Asian cuisine, this was an amazing overall food experience! Definitely will be back for some great soup dumplings and rice bowls
Pretty yummy food! I got pork dumplings and the scallion pancakes. Both were not shabby but a little on the pricey side.
Delicious food for a reasonable price! The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the food came out quickly. Nice atmosphere too.
