Hearty Southern Italian food served at a pre-theater-appropriate pace in an Old World setting.
We really like the Masseria location near Columbus Circle, but they were (temporarily, hopefully) closed so we gave this location a try. Apart from the excellent, friendly service from our server (we sat at the bar), we were disappointed. We ordered the green bean, goat cheese and tomato salad which was very good. But after that, the meal went downhill. We ordered the caprese ravioli and linguini vongole. For some reason we waited well over 1/2 hour after we finished the salad for those dishes even though the restaurant was not crowded. And when the dishes did arrive, the lacked seasoning. The clams in the vongole were fine, but there was almost nothing resembling a garlic & white wine sauce. And the raviolis lacked flavor as well and the sauce was a little gummy. I almost never use salt, but both dishes cried for it. Hopefully our favorite location opens up again soon!
Wow! This place is amazing. Came in Wednesday around noon, party of 6. The place was packed with the pre-theater matinee diners (and probably extra busy because its the holiday season) and was buzzing. The service is spectacular. They have a well oiled machine and know exactly what they're doing to make sure nothing goes wrong. I was so impressed watching all the staff whiz around the restaurant. They start you off with a complimentary bread basket. We started with 3 appetizers - the burrata special, mozzarella farcita dello chef (homemade fresh mozzarella cheese stuffed with sweet roast peppers & marinated eggplant, served with fresh tomatoes & basil) and the calamari. Everything was excellent. Plenty of food for us 6 and still had leftovers. For an entrees I had the agnolotti piemontesi - homemade veal & parmesan cheese ravioli with wild mushrooms sauce. Devine! A must. My colleagues raved about their homemade potato gnocchi with radicchio & taleggio cheese sauce which also looked so great. Cocktails all around were wonderful. Ordered a few desserts - tiramisu was a standout! If you are looking for a great place to eat this holiday season with family and friends add this to your list. You wont be disappointed!
Dinner was incredible here! Easily the best Italian restaurant near Time Square! Made a reservation and ask if we could walk in an hour early. They kindly accommodated. The staff was 5 stars!! Super friendly! The balcony overlooking the restaurant is super cute. Tried the fettuccine with veal and mushrooms! One of the best dishes of my life! BlackBerry whiskey cocktail was also great!! Just an FYI, if you order still water, they charge you $10 for the bottle…
We love this place! 🥈 Time here and the service and food was even better done the first time! Wonderful! Place to go to dinner after a show.
We chose this place because the reviews were great and it was open late! Sometimes when a restaurant is open late you don't get incredible quality but this wasn't the case here. All the food we ordered was incredible. We were especially blown away by the ravioli and the seafood risotto. The service was impeccable too. Would definitely come back here if it was late and I wanted reliably good italian food!
I had a wonderful dinner here before I went to see the Outsiders on Broadway! The bartender, Alexander was very helpful and we had a nice conversation! The food is phenomenal! I’ve been here a few times and it’s always amazing!
La Masseria was a nice dining experience. I came with some friends while in town on business. Waiters were friendly, service was about what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber however, I do think it is generally overpriced for the value. Fortunately, my group dined off the restaurant week menu and saved a few bucks. There are a variety of interesting authentic Italian dishes and fascinating La Masseria takes on others. Tiramisu was amazing, the chicken was flavorful, my water was never empty. Overall, I would return if only to try a few more dishes.
Brought my dad for dinner during Father’s Day weekend. We were greeted promptly and sat inside towards the back. Our server Alejandro was extremely attentive, kind and helpful. We ordered the salad with the balsamic vinegar, he had the fettuccini special which included squid ink pasta, crab meat and shrimp, and I had the veal scallopinie. For dessert we ended with tiramisu, espresso, a cappuccino and the cheesecake. Everything was delicious and the portions were great! Would definitely recommend.
Delicious food
This place is top shelf. Food was authentic and service was excellent.
An Apulian from Bari in NY, TOP! All exceptional I would say! Like staying in Italy, extreme pampering
Don t honor reservations
A family Christmas party of15 people came from New Jersey true traffic I have three emails confirmed references plus I called one hour prior to the reservation to confirm they say yes yes now I come here and they don t have a table for me. How disappointed would you be?
In professionalità massima , never oner the r reservation for 13 people , after we show them the email
Excellent Italian in the theatre district. If youre lucky enough get a seat at the counter and chat to Alex. A true gem in terms of service and personality. Any venue would be lucky to have him.
Our reviews had over 56 million views in the last 12 months. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really love La Masseria. This is some perfect Italian food. I had carbonara and she had pasta with meat sauce. Both were fantastic. Went at 8 pm and busy so make a reservation. Both desserts were off the hook fantastic. Photos are attached. We also had appetizers and both were very very good. This is a place we will return to over and over again for sure. The burrata is very creamy and the meatball is HUGE. One can easily be shared. Im getting hungry just looking at my photos again!!!! Check out all of our reviews and look at all the photos below. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 56 million views in the last 12 months and we thank you for that. Cozy Italian restaurant, everything is delicious
We didnt have reservations, but had immediate seating at the bar. Food was very tasty. Was a tad busy and noisy, so was difficult to hear the waiter explain the daily specials. Service was prompt and friendly.
My, my...where to start? Whisked to our table about 10 inches from another table for two...The Farm promised a warm cozy evening with new neighbors, who were having a less than cozy evening. Rich in charm we started with Aperol Spritzer and a wine. As the bread basket arrived, my bride tipped her spritzer a little which almost landed on our new best friends table which added some levity to the cool atmosphere. The bread basket array of over heated breads and bread sticks were the perfect diversion to refocus. Went with the Misto Bosco mixed forrest (arugula salad), Terra Mare (Baby Octopus) and Veal Scaloppini Limone...all of which over the top in taste and portion. So much so...we had to pass on dessert. In posting this I found they have additional locations in tasty areas of Florida and Rhode Island. Doing it right all over!
Excelent food and service. Delicious gnocchi enjoyed!
Very tasty, great sandwich , croissant with Nutella, delicious muffins and latte
Had a great time. Food is always delicious. Service was too notch
We chose this restaurant based on reviews before seeing Romeo and Juliet; however, I wish we had made a different choice. We were seated next to the storage room and every 10-15 minutes a staff member would go back there and then it would just smell really potently of marijuana. This happened four or five times throughout our meal, and at one point we could smell the air freshener that someone was spraying to try to cover the scent. I brought this to the manager s attention as we left and he told me that I was wrong and must have been smelling the park through their hvac system. He was one of the people going in and out of the storage room though so who knows what the truth is. Most of the food was good but one person s gnocchi at our table was pretty undercooked and doughy, and we also brought this to the waiter s attention and he told us it wasn t undercooked and offered to replace it but not to remove the dish from the bill. If I were you, I d choose a different place to eat as these things really detracted from the experience.
Truly fun ambiance with excellent italian food. 2 specials, risotto with scallops and stuffed veal chop were spectacular. Our server, Giuseppe was fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant.
I met with a friend for lunch to celebrate my b-day. I wanted to have fish fillet. I chose this place out of 20 others in the hood. We had prefix during NYC restautant week. 49$ each. Everything was good. Which is rare. Often some item on a prefix menu is off. Luch was quiet, personal and delicious.
A wonderful dining experience, magnificent food.
Post Broadway show dinner. Wow to the play and restaurant.
Bad service, bad vibes, nothing is available
Delicious food. Great service. Enjoyed the tiramisu.
Staff members top ! Next to Time Square NY Bartender so friendly. Ronald Bolo Brilliant Food
I ordered the ragu pasta and the pasta came out hard so I sent it back. When it back back again it was still hard
Absolutely fantastic! The carpaccio was PERFECTION and the dirty martini was the best I ve ever had. Wonderful table service.. La Messeria is simply the best.
A wonderful place, staff with excellent service, a really pleasant atmosphere with Italian background music and the food is simply delicious and excellent and the prices are not expensive compared to the area in which it is located, as befits such a luxury restaurant.
Excellent menu. Enjoyed our experience with friends.
Service was great, very attentive but not heavy handed. Food was average. Good, but not great.
Nice restaurant Typical Italian restaurant Food is awesome Food : 5/5
Server was nice, food was amazing.
No wine advice available, which is unusual for such a fine restaurant.
Great Italian with wonderful service and good selection. In the shadow of times square so perfect before or after a show.
Fantastic food for my first time being in NYC! The staff are incredibly friendly and don t hesitate to get you anything you need, as for the atmosphere it couldn t have been any better, well deserved 5 stars in my opinion.
The service is professional and friendly. The atmosphere is a cozy fine dining feeling. The food was good, however my party and I had some items that were overcooked or tough. But the flavors were clean and fresh. I would recommend this restaurant.
Everything was excellent.
Good Italian restaurant but a little expensive Vegetarian options: Pâté salads with tomato sauce (+$30, exaggerated). Risotto
I loved my dinner, fresh, tasty food, great wine list, great service, great atmosphere! Thank you Alessandro
It is one of the best Italian restaurants. I ordered : 1. Carpaccio 2. Spaghetti with tomato sauce 3. Tiramisu The taste , presentation , and services were top level. Will visit him again to try other dishes .
Food is mediocre at best. Pasta was pretty bland. $16 for what was the worst tiramisu I have ever tasted is outrageous. You might want to stop buying it from Sysco. Food : 2/5 |
Wife and I stumbled across this gem since it was close to a Broadway show we attended. Booked a reservation from our seats before the show started. Everything about the restaurant was fantastic. I normally dont rave about salads but their salad with avocado and corn was unbelievably good. I had the rabbit for my entree since it is rare to see on a menu and it too was excellent. Staff was top notch finding the thin line between being attentive and intrusive. I dont find myself in NYC often but I will absolutely hit La Masseria again
Amazing food! Really professional and nice staff. Would recommend
Alexander was superb and absolutely fantastic and he has a customer for life. I will not come back if Alexander is not the bartender.
I will return to this location again and also try the other location in upper Midtown location. Very pleased!
I went here for Sunday lunch with my daughter before seeing a Broadway show. We made a reservation, and they were ready with our table as soon as we walked in. You have your choice of inside or outside. We chose inside. Service exceeded our expectations in every way. Ronald was our lead server and was wonderful. He was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable of all the questions we asked. Food was delicious. We shared the burrata and it was a huge portion. Main dishes were excellent. Ambience was great and restaurant is convenient to all theaters.
Incredible food, service and atmosphere, affordable prices. We were assisted by a super friendly Mexican man from Puebla. The pastas are delicious!
The food, the wine, and the dessert were simply spectacular, I liked that several waiters spoke Spanish, attention to 10, hot, abundant food, with a lot of flavor and quality.
Alexander at the bar made my experience here so delightful and I highly recommend the gnocchi and tiramisu. I will definitely come back.
This family run old style Italian restaurant is a true gem! The food was amazing, I had the special - shrimp risotto, with fresh cream burrata sauce, and grapefruit garnish. Delightful with a bottle of Italina chianti!
Excellent experience, you can really feel the Italian atmosphere and not just for the music! Here we found what is missing in many restaurants in NY, that is, a clean, very well-kept place, with a suitable mise en place, double tablecloth, and above all customer care, with very courteous and friendly waiters who pampered us the entire time . The food was truly excellent, Italian without too many alterations.
My favorite italian restaurant in NYC. I ve been coming here for 15+ years and it never disappoints. The service is outstanding, food always on point, and culture one of family. The Veal Milanese is to die for. Gnocchi are clouds of love. Zucchini fritters addicting. Beef carpaccio is perfect. The stuffed mozzarella and Bronzino are a must. Vegetarian options: Zucchini fritters, Gnocchi, Cheesecake,
Excellent restaurant. The only problem is that they serve water and dont say they charge 10 dollars a bottle. Other than that, show off the restaurant. Excellent restaurant. The only problem is that they serve water without telling you that it costs $10 per bottle. Other than that, the restaurant is great.
Many people have told me about this place, the waiters are very friendly and helpful, the food we took 2 first courses, the pasta was activated in a nano second, it was overcooked, ugly and heavy to ingest, we paid for 2 first courses, its a bottle of water, 100 dollars, I dont recommend it
Very upscale place. The waiter that we had was awesome. Very accommodating w/ the complex menu. Very good drinks.
The restaurant was very nice. The staff was also very friendly and polite. I think the prices was a bit high compare to what you get. The food was okey, but nothing WOW feeling about it. Food
One of the best Italian food restaurants in NYC
Good food, plentiful and well prepared, friendly and above all Italian staff, who make you feel at home. I forgot, coffee is poetry!!!
Server could care less about us. Food was good.
The service and food was very good. Perfect for prior to a show
This restaurant is a great choice after the theater. Great service, nice atmosphere, delicious food!
The spectacular place. The impeccable and super friendly waiters. The food arrived very quickly and DELICIOUS. Chocolate volcano only on Saturdays and Carbonara (which the chef made especially). 10/10.
I have eaten a lot of food in a lot of cities but the veal special was hands down the best meal I have ever eaten.
Delicious food and impeccable service!
Wonderful Italian restaurant. Excellent option for a romantic date.
Amazing service and delicious food! The service was exceptional, as well as the food. I went there with my husband, and we fell in love with the food and service. It is 100% worth it! We highly recommend this restaurant!
Nice restaurant, nice presentation. Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesnt keep up, especially for the price! Canned mushrooms, gnocchi that are too mushy the products don t look fresh. More discretion on the part of the servers would have been appreciated. Pay attention to the bill, 1 bottle of wine counted as too much... I dont recommend.
Nice atmosphere but unfortunately the food did not live up to the price. I love food from all corners of the world, but was unfortunately disappointed by the lack of taste. There are many good restaurants in the area, so choose another one fore a better price and taste. The staff were nice but wanted to clear the table before we had finished eating, so we chose to take the food home instead of sitting there.
The dessert was the best thing about my dinner. As for the service it was excellent, helpful and kind staff. The price is exaggerated for what you eat, but we are in New York.
Bar staff needs to be trained and respect customers. My friend and I went here for dinner and we sat in the bar table. The bartender with glasses also our waiter chatted a little bit and mentioned his wife is Chinese. At the end, he says good luck with finding American husbands . my friend and I were shocked and felt awkward. As independent women and Asian, we felt this conversation is very improper and racist. We should ve said something at that point but we were too shocked and didn t know what to say/confront. I did see the people sitting next to us frowning up what he said. This is very insulting and the owner should train their staff better. It could be a good experience but it was ruined.
Best blush sauce ravioli Ive had between the states of NJ and NY. Broccoli rabe was amazing, the pork chop perfectly cooked with a delicious shaved truffle, atmosphere excellent for a date night or even just a nice bite. Definitely a staple on our list! Thank you!
Went here for my wifes 40th birthday. She is a huge fan of Italian food and this was nothing short of outstanding. Service, atmosphere and the food was exceptional. We were with our two kids and it was a very welcoming atmosphere for families. In a great location if you have a broadway show booked.
Lovely to eat in the terrace. Staff are very attentive. Our server Maxim was very attentive and made a great wine pairing suggestion. The pasta are amazing as were the specials, Chilean sea bass and veal saltimbocca, on our most recent visit.
Had the most amazing Italian dinner. They have a very beautiful outside dining area / porch where you are able to enjoy your meal and look at the hustle and bustle of New York. This restaurant is quite close to all the theaters and is a perfect place to grab a nice meal before a broadway show. Wheelchair accessibility: This restraint is wheelchair accessible
What a lovely en friendly place to eat, enjoyed it so much!!! Great food and wine cart
Wow thats all i can say delishish
A staple italian place in the heart of Broadway. Great flavors and dishes.
My daughter and I went here based on a recommendation from our hotel. Food and service are excellent. Atmosphere is quiet which is rare for the theater district in NYC. Kid-friendliness: Their pasta is excellent and they put the sauce on the side which was a big hit!
A real Italian in New York! The staff is friendly and accommodating, which is a rarity in this city. The food was very tasty
Good food and service
Great place and delicious food. We had a delicious first course, the staff were kind and very friendly.
don t be fooled by good reviews from their friends. I ate here with a friend 1 week ago and my pasta sauce was so salty I only ate 2 bites. It was obvious I didn t like it (because I had said I was starving, but then I barely ate it) and the waiter didn t bother asking me if everything was alright with my food. My friend ordered gnocchi and they brought her some swirly pasta they admitted their mistake and she had to wait for them to make the correct pasta. The bill came and there was ZERO discount for the inconvenience or the mistake, which is very uncommon in NYC most places will do a major discount if that type of thing happens. Meanwhile, I paid $40 USD (about $60 Canadian dollars) for a gross pasta dish of veal tortellini in a super salty, overly rich and inedible sauce . Such a waste of money! Didn t even eat it! And my friend paid full price for her meal despite them bringing the wrong dish and her waiting for the correct one. The service was awful. The prices have gone up and it s not a good deal. The food should be delicious for what you pay. Don t eat here before your Broadway show.
The food is ok but not that good. Some of the staffs are not friendly, which makes our experience truly terrible. The lady works at the front door made me very uncomfortable.
Great Italian restaurant right in the middle of the city center madness. It was recommended by our hotels concierge and we weren t disappointed: Food, service and atmosphere are excellent. We highly recommend the pasta dishes. Loved that they play real Italian music - and serve Aperol Spritz. Will be back for sure. Great Italian restaurant in the middle of the crazy Times Square - Broadway area. It was a recommendation from our concierge and we were not disappointed: the food, service and ambience are excellent and we will definitely come back. We recommend the pasta dishes, and there is also a good Aperol Spritz (not a given in the USA) and real Italian music. Be sure to reserve.
Excellent! Love the food and the decor. Best place to eat a very nice dinner after a great broadway show.
La Masseria, located at 235 W 48th St, New York, NY 10036, truly impressed all four of us. We were astounded by the exceptional quality of the food. Let me provide some context for my experience today. As someone who travels extensively, particularly within the USA due to work, I have had the opportunity to dine in some of the finest restaurants across the country. I can confidently say that the Scialatielli with wild mushrooms sauce that I had at La Masseria ranks among the top three pastas Ive ever had in the USA. The presentation was understated yet elegant, the portion size was just right, and the taste was absolutely phenomenal perfectly al dente with a subtly creamy mushroom sauce. The wine and port selection, along with the recommendations from our server, Pascuale, were impeccable. The ambiance was beautiful and cozy, with a delightful playlist softly playing in the background, making conversation easy. To top it off, the volcano dessert was simply delicious. 100% Recommended
An amazing Italian restaurant. It did serve very generous portions and we couldn t finish everything! But it was nevertheless delicious. I would highly recommend!
Very good address
Beautiful Italian restaurant. Love the mellow amber lighting, good vibes, and food. I had the meatballs for appetizer, a rather large and filling Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bream whole fish, and Creme Brulee. Hit on all three.
The best Italian restaurant in NYC for those seeking authentic Italian cuisines. Great food, great service, friendly and accommodating staff. And very good with pre-theater timing! La Masseria is the real deal!
So happy to have experienced this place! Service was impeccable, and the food was superb quality. Will definitely be brining my fam when they visit!
My new favorite Italian Restaurant in NYC. Everything was exceptional. We will be back!!
Dont waste your chance to enjoy this beautiful place. I had the most joyful evening with my loved ones while enjoying the magnificent food. This has become a MUST in our lives
Great service and food!!! Highly recommend!!
Had a really great experience with La Messeria! Staff are very attentive and they do smile back at you! :)
Everything delicious with excellent desserts
Excellent food! Thanks to Pasquale!
Loved this quaint and authentic Italian restaurant. Food, service and ambiance of this establishment was superb. I highly recommend a visit when exploring N.Y.
The dinner was magnificent as well as Omars attention! Food
Exceptional place. Traditional Italian cuisine with also innovative dishes. Nice environment
The food and wine were superb. The wait staff were flawless and their recommendations were spot-on. And the price reflected it. Ill be back!
Its a nice place
This place has good food at reasonable prices for midtown Manhattan near the theater district. We split a Chicken Parmigiana and got a side of broccoli rabe. Both were quite good. Their pre meal bread was good but was served with lentils in olive oil. Certainly an interesting idea, but difficult to get the lentils on the bread. Service was very good and the atmosphere is nice. This is not a Manhattan restaurant where you feel you are jammed into a tight spot. We skipped dessert since we only went for lunch.
An absolute must try! Excellent experience all around. Great food and awesome service. A truly authentic Italian ristorante!
We had lunch and dinner several times at this place. Excellent welcome. A little noisy but still characteristic and pleasant environment. Food: Most dishes good or excellent. Good wine list with New York prices. We will return without a doubt.
The food was good, but the waiters were busy and couldnt find anyone when needed.
Loved it! Pasts was cooked perfectly
If there is a better restaurant in NYC for Italian, I d like to know because La Masseria and Fernando were fantastic.
Loved the food at La Masseria. As a huge fan of ravioli, I must say it exceeded my expectations. The complimentary fresh bread is worth it too. Would definitely visit again!
The pastas were well flavoured. I thought the blueberry risotto combination didnt really work though, & the pastas were cooked slightly too soft. For the burrata, they only serve the some of inner liquid rather than the actual ball. Overall I didnt think it was good value. The service was off putting. We were a large group of 10 seated against the wall towards the back. They would constantly top up our water glasses if so much as 2 sips were had. We all agreed it was very uncomfortable. The waiters would squeeze themselves in & out of the narrow area behind us every other minute, for water we didnt need, hovering over us throughout the meal. It felt very distracting when we were trying to relax. They misheard our order twice. We ordered calamari, & they wanted to confirm if we only wanted one for the whole table. We quickly confirmed with each other and said yes, were fine with just one. Then they came out with a second one, when we already had too much food. The second time my friend asked if there was dairy in the risotto. The waiter said there is, would you like us to take it out? and she replied with oh thats fine, dont change it please, keep it as is. They brought it out & had made it dairy free. She was really displeased with how it tasted. They seemed very eager, overzealous even & the lack of comprehension was frustrating. In general the waiters werent very tactful & interrupted us a lot, it wasnt a nice experience.
Great place in midtown highly recommend if you are in the area.
The restaurant is very nice and romantic, once inside you might forget you are in busy and loud NYC and instead feel transported to an Italian city. The food and drinks were amazing. The service was attentive and friendly.
We walked in my wife my daughter .While sitting on a table , I asked direction to reach the men s room . A waiter , with a rough attitude, pointed me the direction I thought was just an incident after I came back from bathroom, I choose the wine and was calling a waiter to order a bottle .. it happened to be the same waiter , who saw I was calling him , and with a clear consistent gest , was kind of telling me to calm down and be patient .. but again with arrogant behavior , I just told him this is not the way you address to client and kept insisting he was right ... We just stood up with my family and left .. unbelievable !!! To be avoided !
My family enjoyed the most amazing Italian dinner. Prior to seeing Ibsens Enemy of the People at the Circle in the Square Theatre, my siblings & parents (a party of 8) experienced delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. Wonderful service (our waiter was the best), atmosphere & attention to our every request. Every bite was Italian comfort food at its best! The seafood risotto was a highlight! We could not have had a better experience for our first group dinner in NYC - thank you
Everything was delicious and I was impressed! Especially the vongole was the best Ive ever eaten. At the end, I was offered dolce, but I wish I had eaten it. I want to go again
Excellent food and tea. The mozzarella appetizer is super fresh. The pasta is home made, fresh, and is very flavorful. The tiramisu is delicious and not overly sweet. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very nice. I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat. If cost was not a consideration, I would rank them among the top 3 best Italian restaurants I have had in New York, and thats saying something.
My husband and I popped into La Masseria on a recent trip into the city. We called beforehand to make a reservation, but there wasnt one available. The gentleman who answered the phone was so pleasant and enthusiastic my husband still wanted to go and eat at the bar. We got there early (4:30 p.m. on a Saturday); Im so glad we did! The quaint restaurant filled up quickly and was busy until we left. We sat in a cozy corner of the bar, had tasty cocktails and shared a delicious meal. The burrata with prosciutto and tomato appetizer was perfection. The staff was friendly and helpful. Looking forward to visiting La Masseria again.
Tiramisu was the best lentils sude with bread was a nice treat
Good pastas and desserts
Excellent restaurant with truly Italian flavours
The food was nothing short of exceptional!
Close to theaters for either pre or post show meal. Simple Italian fare made with the absolutely freshest ingredients. Attentive and friendly staff. Excellent and extensive wine list covering all price points.
Food excellent, service very good, didnt rush dinner
We went before a show and had the best experience. We sat at the bar and Alexander was amazing. Great service and very witty as well. He also recommended great wines. I highly recommend this spot for great food and service! I d add pictures but we already ate and drank all the good food and wine.
Very nice place, the food is absolutely delicious (I highly recommend the tiramisu), great wine selection, and the service is great. It was too warm for me inside, but other than that, I really enjoyed dining there.
Amazing service. Amazing Food. Went here on Valentines day. Waiters were very patient and understood our requests clearly.
Excellent choice for Christmas Eve dinner... we ate very well, special thanks to the waiter Pasquale who gave us some excellent advice and made us have a wonderful evening.
We were here for Christmas Eve... good and plentiful dishes. The waiters very friendly and helpful. Super good cheesecake!
Excellent
Excellent service and food, unbeatable quality/price ratio...many Italians at tables near ours and as part of the staff
Note that before posting, I checked their site to see if there was a dress code; there is not. I cannot recommend this place as it s obvious they are engaging in DISCRIMINATORY practices. A friend and I decided to stopped by after dinner for cocktails and a dessert (tiramisu) and were told they were only seating for dinner. We weren t allowed at the BAR which was empty! The outdoor seating area was also empty! It s quite obvious they took a look at us, saw that we were African-American and dressed down (office summer casual) and we were therefore not welcomed. With BRAIDS and an AFRO we also probably looked to be in our late 20s. We are in fact both over 35, hold Masters and Doctorate respectively, and were stopping by after well-paying, corporate jobs in Midtown. We have the luxury of investing in culinary pleasure and love to scope out new places for dinner and cocktails. IG foodies basically:) The manager was polite enough, and we of course left without incident, but upon reflection it was extremely OBVIOUS that we were not wanted patrons because of looks. I thought others who may value DEIB should know. Because there is a bar which was nearly empty but we couldn t be seated there because they are only taking dinner guests. Who eats dinner at the bar? And why can t one order cocktails and a dessert at idk a BAR?! Isn t the bar where cocktails are meant to be served?
Food was absolutely amazing. Best pasta I ve had in NYC thus far. They make a few pastas from scratch so make sure to ask which ones! We got 2 of those meals that they make themselves. We did not get anything besides main course. The waiter wasn t very friendly. Atmosphere was beautiful, calm, romantic. Decorated for beautifully for Christmas as well!
Apart from interior design and service i must say food was very disapointing , i was served canned pasta with sauce that i had back home, same exact taste , plus pasta was very undercooked. I tried other dishes and they are nothing but heartburn. For its location food has to be better come on. Sorry but i cant recomend any dishes.
Perfect food and service. Nix the dance music. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pasta.
Italian restaurant, beautiful atmosphere.
Excellent Italian restaurant within walking distance of Time Square in NY City. Hearty dishes, well executed traditional Italian recipes and nice atmosphere. The only caveat for the winter months is to avoid the tables near the entrance, but definitely worth a try!
My wife and I have eaten at La Masseria at least 10 times. Its been a great pre- theater spot for good italian food. We went last night. My Chicken Parm was very good as was my wifes Branzino. She doesnt like brussel sprouts which was one of the two veggies that came with the fish. She asked the waiter( a very nice guy) if she could substitute. He said that she could get broccoli if she paid the normal charge for a side of broccoli. It was Disappointing to hear that.
Scratch pasta with shrimp, the Italian cocktail, and the soup special was delicious
Absolutely first class! From service to food, one of the best restaurants Ive ever eaten at!
Magical atmosphere, very kind staff and first choice food, to say that it is the best Italian restaurant in New York is an understatement... THE BEST ever
So delicious! The food and service were both top notch
Staff, food, and MANAGER. Customer service out of this world!!!! Great restaurant and people definitely would recommend and coming back for the flavorful food. very soon!!!
Dinner last night was terrific. Kudos to an excellent restaurant week menu. Great choices and very well prepared. Love the west 48 th st Masseria and love this one as well
Excellent food. Dishes with perfect flavor. Desserts ditto. Wide wine list, but few cheap options. Cozy place. Efficient service.
Service was amazing, waiter was extremely pleasant and kind. The host stand was surrounded by what I m assuming were either hosts or management who all could use a serious attitude adjustment. Upon walking in, we asked if they could seat our party, to which they responded that they could seat us but only for one hour and then we would have to give up the table. We obviously were understanding as we didn t have a reservation and it s a Saturday night. The ENTIRE time that we were seated one of the managers/ hostess was glaring at us and would only look away when made eye contact with. (It was the blond with the bob for anyone wondering.) The food was some of the worst food I have ever had and I am not typically a picky eater. Everything tasted as if it was taken from one of those microwave tv dinners, plated, and then priced at $40+. I ate less than half of my grilled chicken (which I believe that they were calling grilled strictly based on the over usage of liquid smoke) and the mashed potatoes were undoubtedly instant mashed potatoes from a box. As soon as the management noticed that we weren t eating our food, they suddenly had a solution to the problem with our table so we were no longer required to leave within a certain amount of time which was interesting. To go out of your way to make my entire party feel as if this is a fine establishment that we were not welcome in and then bring out those jokes that they call Italian dishes is shameful. Shame on this restaurant! I have never felt so appalled and disgusted from something that I have eaten in my life.
Wow what a pleasant surprise! I work close by, and never ate here. My loss, this place is great! Cant wait to go back
Excellent Italian restaurant, Italian for real. Weve been coming back for 4 years now and its always a pleasure. Excellent food, top staff and super welcoming environment. Highly recommended
Food was delicious. Service was excellent.
Just right for pre or post theater. Space is tight, but food is quite good and service is excellent. Very accommodating if you need to make curtain.
Suggested by an Italian friend who has lived in NY for twenty years, we didnt go wrong: Nice environment in Italian style. We tried the first courses, all different, all delicious. The food is really good, the pasta is al dente and the sauces are excellent. Very kind staff. Generous portions! Thanks for the welcome! Vegetarian options: One person in the group was a vegetarian and the staff adapted the dish to his needs by removing and replacing ingredients. Thank you!
Truly authentic Italian cuisine and ambience, the restaurant has an old world charm with lots of detail so that you feel like you re in an old rustic building but with tables clothes and top notice service. Every dish was over the top aromatic with unique flavors and visually stunning.
Great pre- or post-theater restaurant. Great food and excellent service await!
Pasta
Chose this restaurant because of location and could not have been more pleased. Excellent attentive service great wine selection well prepared food. Party of four all agreed that food was excellent, fairly priced, and would definitely come again
Food. Excellent quality and good selection. Atmosphere Great up-market atmosphere Service Really helpful waiters, with an excellent knowledge of their food and wine selection. To conclude: Fabulous wine - Great food - delightful service (thank you Elvis and Giuseppe). Over a 5 day stay in New York, So good we went their twice!
Every time Im in New York. I always go in there for lunch or dinner.
They cook fast so you dont miss your Broadway show! Great food!
I got the short rib pasta and it was good, but nothing to write home about. I came about 45 mins before closing and service was pretty good but felt rushed. If you want people out by closing you should have a cut off time for your seating. I was expecting more considering the price point, but for a one time experience it wasnt bad.
Unflavored, hard pasta. Mentioned it to waiter and ignored me.
Quick bite after Hadestown at 11pm, right next door. No rez drop in dinner. Unbelievably efficient - a . In/Out 35 mins. Awesome food and service in a family run OLD SCHOOL white tablecloth and very welcoming experience.
Delicious and beautiful atmosphere!
Food, service and environment was great. Reserve seats in advance.
