1034 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10025, United States
Relaxed, brick-lined standby pairing pasta, panini & other casual Italian plates with wine & beer.
Great food and a great location The bartender, Josway was amazing 🥰🥰😋
My long term partner and I reunited in the city that never sleeps, the big apple, the empire state, and experienced an outdoor seated array of pasta and juices. Food was not our favorite as pasta was more al dente than hoped with limited sauce and some shredded cheese. The dinner crowd had not rolled in so it was peaceful and the waiter(s) were very nice.
Update: I can confirm they charged me twice. The transaction posted. And I again would like to say I am very disappointed in the fact that I was not given back my card after I SHOWED them that their original charge had been approved by my credit card company, and instead was charged again (with no effort on their part to actually figure out what THEY did wrong). I’m a student, and I’m not made of money. Being charged twice, totaling an amount of 325 dollars, is unacceptable. Cannot recommend this place. Food was good and I was ready to decide that I might come back, and then they had “machine issues” and charged my credit card twice. Regardless of whether the charge is dropped, I really disliked that they went ahead and charged me again when I had already showed them the confirmation from my bank, because their system had not registered the transaction. Having eaten at thousands of restaurants all around the world, I can say this has never happened to me. Not to mention, they added a “manual gratuity” to my bill, when my party was only of 3. I was ready and willing to give more of a tip, but was very taken aback by the fact that it was put on the bill without me being able to choose.
They have some homemade pastas here. The ambiance is excellent and the flavor is delicious. I ordered the Paseo pasta and it was awesome just wish they took the tail off the shrimp.
I went for brunch. The first time at the restaurant. It was full. So best to make reservations. I ordered lasagna on a whim. I am very picky about my lasagna. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!! I had to stop myself from eating too much. There was plenty to eat. My husband ordered spaghetti and meatballs and ate it all up. My parents ordered pancakes and "french" toast and then shared them. I say "french" because it seemed not to be ordinary french toast with some fruit and powdered sugar. The pancakes were two of the fluffiest ones I have ever seen. And my parents had enough to take some home. So, all in all, I DEFINITELY WANT TO GO BACK! Oh and there was some live music in the corner near the door. A little jazzy. If I were you, I would give this place a try! Plus, there were some toddlers with grown-ups and a small dog in the corner. As a first-timer, I will DEFINITELY be a second-timer, if not more!
My hubby and I had a great time, delicious food and great atmosphere. Loved the Bell’s Two Hearted Ale American IPA draft beer. Our waiter Bryan was the best ever!
Excellent food. I had the salmon burger and it was delicious. The lentil soup was hardy. It was a good way to start my dining experience. It was a quaint and lovely atmosphere. The host and waiter were wonderful. There weren't any families with children like other Italian restaurants on the strip. So it is lovely for a nice date. A well-designed decor made it feel open and cozy. A good place to linger after a meal 😋
Food is absolutely delicious. Service is excellent and friendly This italian eatery understands italian pasta and dishes. The portions are favorable and price points are comfortable. Drinks are prepared well. The evening we had dinner the establishment was empty so I’m not sure what the experience is like when it’s packed but dinner while the restaurant is half empty was actually a delight. The music selection could improve but other than that definitely recommend this excellent italian eatery.
So impressed with this place! The service, food, quality and cleanliness, all exceptional! A must visit for the UWS! Food
Cozy, great service, wonderful food. Particularly liked the melograno salad, fragola dessert, and piccante cocktail.
The pasta here is delicious!
Good food and jazz music on sundays lunch
Tartina is by far my favorite rest in New York City. Best service, food, music.. EVERYTHING! Just perfect. Can t wait to be back
Went for the 3rd time, 1st time for dinner. Went for brunch twice & the food was great. Dinner was even better. Parking: If possible, take public transportation. It is a block away from one train & 2 blocks away from another one. There is a bus that will drop you off right there.
Wonderful place with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere a rarity in this city! Everything we had was flavorful and delicious, a cut above typical NYC Italian fare. A gem!
Food is alright, ambience is lovely
Excellent brunch, been here multiple times always a great place for brunch, will be back
I would ve given it five stars but as soon as they brought the sizzling hot plates the restaurant stank and I now I I feel we have to go home and change our clothes. It was perfect until then. The vibe was perfect. The food is outstanding, and the service is outstanding but as soon as they brought the sizzle plates out the vibe was dead, and people started leaving. The restaurant was covered in smoke. Such a pity. 5 stars until the sizzle plates.
Visited on a Sunday, they had live jazz guitarist and band, very good live music. The food was good but my dish needed salt. Service was satisfactory but It wasnt outstanding.
The food was great. But we got our food only an hour after we set at the table
A real treasure. Beautiful interior, great live music and the food - utterly delightful. Everything we had -the spinach omelet, chicken cutlet and the parmigiana sorrentina was exceeding well done showcasing a care for high quality ingredients and real culinary craftsmanship. The espresso was a true italian espresso too. Lovely service on top of it. Thank you!
A very high standing for an affordable price. The seafood pasta were particularly good, but because the portion was rather small I had to subsequently eat a burger, which was more standard but still completely correct. I was so full I came home rolling, thanks Tartina!
This beautiful restaurant that, happens to be across the road from the Magnificent St John the Divine Cathedral of New York. Is spectacular the food is exceptional. Enjoy .
Nice atmosphere, good food and great service a must visit in New York
Great Italian food and ambient and staff!
Incredible. Best in the area. Cocktails and service are fabulous!
Great coffee and presentation.
Had a party of 12 which seemed to be more than they could handle. Slow service. Confused order. Good food.
This is a gem of a neighborhood restaurant. Cozy feel (brick exposed walls) nice big bar in addition to table seating, very friendly staff and great food and drinks (including fresh flowers in Prosecco and cocktails!). I highly recommend it.
The food here is mediocre especially for NYC, but the price point is much lower than other Italian restaurants in the area (although still not inexpensive.) We ordered the gnocchi and it was just okay. It did not seem very fresh; the tomato sauce tasted a little bit sour, as if it had turned. However, it was definitely not inedible, and our server was kind to us during our dinner.
Pleasantly surprised with the dining experience. Came here with a partner and while the environment was nice, the vibe was kind of off due to the fact that it was 7 on a Saturday and there were only a few parties in the restaurant. Despite this, the staff was nice, and I really enjoyed my lasagna. My partners dish was a little lack-luster, and Im not sure this would be the top of my list to try again, but its proximity to Columbia is hard to beat.
Great food and music!
I hosted a birthday brunch for 12 people at Tartina this past weekend, and the experience was amazing from start to finish. When I emailed to inquire about a party menu, Maria Teresa called me personally to put the details together, and I got a quote quickly. Tartina had the best prix fixe price of any of the restaurants I reached out to, and being a neighborhood local, I knew the food would be amazing as always. The day of the event, our table was beautifully set (one long banquet for 12 people), and the service was professional and efficient. They put so much food out! For the price per person, I was shocked by the generous portions--it was served family-style, and we couldnt finish everything they put out. It was a gorgeous 3-course spread, and everything was cooked consistently and very well-done. Everything came out hot and fresh; the tables barely had enough room! Everything was truly authentic Italian. My guests raved about the food (the arancini and the pancakes were crowd favorites), and we enjoyed the live jazz music throughout the afternoon. Our table was set up on the upper level (a short step above the main level of the dining room), which felt like a semi-private experience. I cannot say enough good things about the day, and I will definitely be hosting more events here.
I come for the jazz music on sundays, but the food was amazing, so now its a thing. Brunch on sundays
Great place. Food was excellent and service was great.
Conveniently located near the Columbia campus, great spot for a family dinner or date. Cacio e pepe was fresh and delicious, served in parm wheel. Also enjoyed the veggie lasagna and arancini
They charged me for a dish that we did not order that they serve us by mistake because we kept it on the table. And they charge a tip of 20% for a party of 3.
Good food and quiet
great lunch
The place is beautiful and quiet, the Italian food is delicious and the service is excellent
We had an appetizer that was okay. The service wasnt very friendly! Too bad.
Nice Italian food and gelatos. They have nice selection of Wines and mix drinks. Definitely recommend this place. Food
Most importantly the food was good! The service could be a bit improved imo. We went during brunch time, but when we ordered something from the brunch menu he said we can t because it s only available certain days, in a way that was implying that we should ve known that despite it not saying anywhere. No problem, but he could ve just said so when telling us to scan the QR code, that it s not available today. So we had to find something else and wait for him to come back. Also paying the check took a while, cause we couldn t get his attention. The restaurant was less than half full, so kinda surprising.
Tried all the salads- they were all delicious and unique especially with the squash the potatoes were also very good!
Quaint place to have a nice dinner with family and friends. Great date place also. Very accommodating to my kids request for plain pasta and red sauce. All the food was spot-on. Service wonderful.
All but one of the five of us very much enjoyed our food. The house made papardelle was a little thick and the Bolognese sauce not as tasty as were used to, but the creme brulee and pastry horn with fresh fruit and cream more than made up for it. So did the tubbetoni with swordfish and eggplant pistachio pesto!
Italian cuisine My wife likes it because its close to where we live She likes salad with shrimp I think its ok. Nice atmosphere. Food is good Food : 4/5
If you are looking for a restaurant where you can eat well and Italian, this is the right place. Well done. Good service, good food Excellent
Look, was it the worst thing Ive eaten? No. But a risotto of the day thats somehow under and over cooked because no one took into account that zucchini has a lot of water in it? Kind of not the look when you charge 26 dollars. Someone else got their steak on a sizzle platter like a Chilis though, so if youre into that, this is the overpriced Columbia trap for you. Staff was nice and the volume was great. Really helped make sure you could hear the sizzle platter all the way back near the restroom.
I love lava stone steak, it s come with fries and salad for two people,
Very cozy place. We had really good time and food (especially lava stone steak) was great. Only french fries just okey not perfect. Wines are tasty and service was so kind and fast. See u soon
What a terrific dining experience. The food was creative, delicious, and beautifully served. The waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing! Cant wait to return
The food was great and there was a lovely jazz band playing during brunch hours, but the service ruined the experience a little bit. Our server was rude and a bit confusing
The manager will look at you condescendingly and roll his eyes at you if you decide you just want coffee and desert at the bar
I had a nice meal - Bronzino w. shrimp / clams / mussels. Unfortunately they *don t support Apple Pay*. I won t return due to the inconvenience.
Went here for the happy hour. Even though they have a sign outside, no one working there knew they had a happy hour. I ended up leaving without ordering anything, which worked out cause the food looked unappetizing.
Excellent everything
Tartina is an Upper West Side refuge. Its got a warm, casually elegant atmosphere and superb food and service. Ive never had a bad meal here, and the wine list is reliably good. Also, the manager Josue is just lovely. Hes professional, accommodating, and kind, and right now, perhaps more than ever, we could all use a little kindness.
Great service...
We had a wonderful meal here last night. The pear salad and the ravioli were delicious but the best thing we had was the fragola dessert. We had to order a second one it was that good! The tiramisu was also delicious.
First time at Tartina and we had an enjoyable time. The vegetarian lasagna was very good, the service was on point along with a cozy environment and good drinks.
Excellent food and reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere.
Great place. Cant wait to go back and try a few more dishes.
Very knowledgeable wait staff, great food, nice atmosphere, very relaxing dinner, no pressure to move through courses quickly.
**BEWARE** My credit card was not returned to us with our receipt to sign and there was no attempt by the waiter to return it to us. We paid as we finished dinner and were there for 10-15 mins more finishing our drinks. The waiter was happy to visit our table to grab the signed receipt while we were still sitting there, but at no point during this was any attempt made to return my card. I didnt notice until we were already on the bus heading home at which point, we ran back to the restaurant to retrieve the card. When we got back (~5-10 mins later), we searched all around the table and found nothing. Our waiter finally comes out from the kitchen and almost seemed surprised that we came back. He was very slow to retrieve it and seemed to shuffle around a lot of things in the cash register (where my card had somehow ended up). Needless to say, Ive already started the miserable process of replacing the card as I do not trust these people. As to the rest of the dining experience, in a single word, lackluster. The portions were tiny, the food lacked flavor, and the service was about as present as my card after dinner. Im extremely disappointed that we stumbled across this place for a date night and felt I needed to apologize to my fiancé for how terrible it was.
The tomatoes in the caprese salad tasted fresh and flavorful, which is a challenge for this time of year. The Lingua di Passero had a subtle but refreshing lemon flavor, and the shrimp and clams were cooked well. The sirloin for two was tasty and had a fun (and attention grabbing) presentation on the hot lava stone. Only problems I had were that the portions were just *slightly* small for the price. And if you order the lava stone steak, be quick to remove the steak from the stone once is reaches your preferred temperature - otherwise it ll keep cooking on the stone.
mid
Kinda expensive if you want to be full.
Friendly & attentive staff, great menu (and daily specials), relaxing environment. In spite of that, surprisingly reasonable prices for the area. Took our special.geed needs into account. Will definitely return next time in the area.
Super bad service, won t come again
Bad dont do it! one star just to post this. I have Never given a review before good or bad.
We had a wonderful outdoor event at Tartina. Cannot recommend it highly enough!
The mussels are spoiled, smells like rotten fish in garbage, and the waiter has such a long face on his short head.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Tartina. We stopped by with friends before seeing a play and were delighted by every dish. Collectively we ordered the calamari and shrimp fritti, oysters, panariello, and arancino. All of the appetizers were great and packed with flavor. For our entrees we ordered the cacio e pepe, Bolognese, gnocchi massaia, vitello alla costiera. They were all delicious and filling, and I think my favorite had to be the gnocchi and the vitello. The gnocchi were the most wonderfully delicate pillows of flavor I have ever had and the sauce was to die for. The dish was so good that it made me realize Id never had truly good gnocchi until last night. The vitello was tender and juicey and I sighed with happiness after each bite. For dessert we ordered the panna cotta, profiterole, fragola, and tiramisu. Once again all dishes were wonderful, but my favorite was the tiramisu closely followed by the panna cotta. The sponge of the tiramisu was light and fluffy and all the flavors were perfectly balanced, it was truly a joy to eat. On top of all the delicious food the service was wonderful. We were waited on by Victor and he was lovely and provided the best service. Everyone on staff was kind and attentive and made the whole experience not only one to remember, but one to cherish. I look forward to going again.
Delicious food with some of the most beautiful outdoor seating in Manhattan. Waiters are formal and fast.
Love the steak
Went to Tartina for lunch and had their special (back in September), squash risotto. Very creamy and filling.
Excellent Italian, their pastas are perfect! Really enjoyed our meal here.
Enjoyed a really delicious brunch here! Ambiance is great, service is excellent and food was amazing, would recommend this place if you re in the area.
Very quiet and relaxing environment and friendly staff as well as excellent service on this Friday evening. Food was amazing.
Wouldn t let me use the restroom
Great pasta and seafood
I ordered the Branzino filet and it was absolutely amazing! My service was excellent and my food was fantastic- Ill defined be back.
Great service!
Linguine di Passero was great and it was a pleasant surprise they got it to me in I think under 5 minutes. Service from the kitchen and at the bartenders was A+
No paper menus only b.s. QR codes like you re at a fast food joint. The parmigiana sorrentina was a soggy breadcrumb mush. Super thin slices of eggplant and very few of them, super thick breading. Pasta was undercooked. Risotto rice was also starchy and undercooked.
Nice local bistro
Great food, service and ambiance. Loved it!
I had my 81st birthday party at Tartina lunchtime today. Id been there before several times with a friend. The food (for 8), service, and atmosphere were great. We were all pleased and happy--and we were every one experienced Manhattan restaurant patrons. The food bill per person was $48 including service--we rounded it to $50. The drinks bill is more complicated and as a party situation not really relevant. To be honest, since it was my birthday, I didnt pay close attention.
Service was very bad and it made it a bad experience unfortunately.
Lunch was delicious but the service was subpar, probably because of there being only one waiter for the lunch hour. Bread wasnt brought or replenished until asked for, neither was drinks and I overheard the table next to us asking when starters were going to arrive. I know the restaurant industry is struggling and I have no ideas on how to fix this, but wanted people to know that there may be some issues. Going to another restaurant likely wont result in much better service because theyre all understaffed. So, go here if you want delicious food and dont mind subpar service.
Great place! The T-Bone steak was delicious and the arancini are to die for.
Wonderful Italian food & excellent service at this lovely restaurant on a quiet, tree-lined, almost European-feeling corner of 111th St & Amsterdam Ave near St. John the Divine & their gardens. Their pastas are divine, with their ravioli ai funghi being a particular personal favorite, and side orders of spinach, escarole and other veggies are prepared beautifully. Interestingly, their burgers are fabulous as well! Co-vid safe, handsome indoor & outdoor set ups w/ individual seat warming cushions. Worth a visit..you will be a regular in no time!
Great price for the steak. Nice place and excellent attention
We recently were there for brunch and dinner. Each time the food was excellent and the portions large. Our dinner experience was particularly nice as the restaurant had numerous and varied specials and the service was phenomenal. We will be returning, and I highly recommend it. For those of you in the neighborhood, please note that it is a nice outdoor alternative to the traffic of Broadway/Amsterdam/Columbus (street & sidewalk) as it s adjacent to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine with outdoor service on the side street, but also on Amsterdam Avenue on the weekends when the street is closed to traffic. We were happy with the food, service and atmosphere.
The restaurant was super cute and had very nice fairy lights as outdoor seating decor. Outdoor seating was actually outdoots so good for them. To be honest the food wasnt very memorable, but the price was decent for the portion. I definitely enjoyed the ambience more than the food itself. The server was kind of rude and rushing us, so thats what pushed it down a star, otherwise a decent place to check out in Morningside Heights, but I probably wouldnt go back again.
Went there for my birthday and my wife and daughter and I all loved it. Had a great waiter. The seating outside was perfect. Hardly any cars went by and I was certainly warm enough maybe due to the company or the supplied seat cushion that had a light on it so maybe it was heated. Well be back!
Great. Service. Great. Flavor. Great. Food.
food is always excellent and the servers gracious. I always love coming here. so glad I live right around the corner from this gem
The service begins distantly, the menu seems good, but when it arrives at the table the dish does not meet the description, very disappointed, bad experience.
Food was pretty good. Had the caprese which was really nice and the pasta was good, cooked nicely although I found the food to be over priced for the amount you get.
Very good! Great neighborhood spot that just opened up. Food is excellent! Service is good. Following this up as it continues to be wonderful. This is a lovely spot for dinner with friends, a date, celebration, and for a casual meal. We eat here often as its in the neighborhood and we enjoy the service, ambiance, and the wait staff are excellent. The food is always delicious. We ordered the chicken mattone, sea bass and lasagna earlier this week and it was delicious.
Had a late brunch. Everything was excellent, and the staff was reasonably pleasant. The outdoor seating is on the side street, which is nicely shaded even mid-day.
I never managed to eat here so I can t review the food. I still wanted to leave a review because of the exceptionally rude way we were treated here twice. Both times we waited a long time at the entrance while being ignored. The last time we went up to the bartender to ask whether there was a table available and he waived us away with his hand yelling at us to wait. We should have known better and not come back after the first time. It is a shame because the place looks really cute and the menu appetizing.
Great local spot. Service was wonderful, food equally as good.
The best burger in New York! Lasagna amazing!
What a wonderful meal. The service was amazing the food was fantastic. I could eat zucchini flowers for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Love this restaurant always. I you haven t yet try it. You won t be disappointed.
Wonderful neighborhood Italian with interesting dishes.
So whats the point of posting a picture of the menu when its too blurry to be able to read anything? Ill edit my review when I actually try the food. I live down the street so I guess Ill stop by and take my own pics with a better camera and maybe help improve your customer service free of charge
Tartina never ever disappoints. We come here basically every Friday for lunch. The food is always delicious, no matter what you get. The service is incredible, Alexei always seems to know what you want before you do. Everything about Tartina is perfect. Check it out.
Tartina is the greatest restaurant! The food is always perfect. The staff are so friendly and amazing. My entire family loves it, even the ones from out of town! We have never left there without huge smiles on our faces. And we have been there many times! Please go and enjoy for yourself, you won t be disappointed.
Its my favorite place around the neighbourhood. Its a habit for me to go there for a Sunday brunch with jazz music or a dinner. The food/drinks and coffee are delicious. The staff is friendly and always helpful. I love the european vibes and the nice decoration.
Best burgers and overall food in the city by far. There isn t much else to say aside from that.
The best burger in the city. First time here and the customer service was spectacular. Would always recommend.
This was my first time coming here and it was it was just an otherworldly experience. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the waiter had great energy and recommended really good food. I would definitely say this is among the best restaurants in New York City
Had brunch there this past Sunday afternoon. And it was a lovely space there was a musician playing Spanish and Italian melodies with his guitar. I had the pancakes, it was so filling. I will definitely go back for dinner.
We got the Arancino and a Caesar for a snack along with some wine after viewing the cathedral next-door. The service was great - our waiter was a joy! I wish I remembered his name to give him some kudos here.
Tartina rocks! We ve been going since it opened. Tonight I had an amazing risotto with smoked mozzarella, almonds and zucchini. Such wonderful flavors and textures. The branzino in salt was amazing! Their pastas are all fresh and delicious. My personal favorite is the spaghetti nerano. Their list of specials is almost as long as the regular menu. The food and ambiance is upscale but the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Tartina!
Wowza. This place is great. I had one lunch, but can tell you this is the real deal for real Italian food, prepared with the care and quality ingredients I look for when I m in Italy. Bravo.
The food was terrible (steak looked boiled rather than grilled, the spagetti sauce tasted watered down and bland, and the risotto looked more like polenta than risotto and was inedible), and the staffs attitude did not improve the experience in any way. Overpriced and pretentious for what they serve.
Amazing food. very clean and very hospitable. Brunch was great
Nice food friendly and authentic environment
Food is consistent, service has been amazing and its always a great experience! I was able to order takeout even during the height pandemic and Tartina has truly been my go to! I even hired them to cater for local hospitals in the NYC area and the hospital appreciated the meals and attention. My colleagues and I have been meeting weekly to maintain normalcy and Tartina on a Friday afternoon lunch is always a good idea. You can tell the owners and employees really care about service and customer service. This is a family owned restaurant and I love supporting them. Highly recommend!
The service was great. However the food was a little simple. On the other side, the dessert was AMAZING, it was a tiramisu, I totally recommended.
OMG the food was so dam good, this is my new favorite place, can t wait to return.
Probably the best experience my wife and I have had with eating in a NYC restaurant. Delicious food and fantastic service. recommended
From out of state and stopped in for a quick lunch. Loved the atmosphere and how nice everyone was. The food- phenomenal. I don t know what we got but it was recommended by our server and he did not disappoint. 10/10 recommend this amazing place
Great service and food!
Cute and on point restaurant, beautiful area
Service was horrible, very rude and I waited 40 minutes on the table for the water, don t waste your money here
Good place
Pretty good and nice service, expensive wines
I met a group of friends last Saturday night 11/13/2021 for dinner and the whole experience was amazing. Some of the highlights of our meal were the Rice Balls, the pasta with swordfish and Pistachios. The linguini with seafood in a lemon sauce. The hot stone Steak and the Pistachio encrusted Lamb. To top it all off the Italian Cheese cake and Tiramisu are worth every bite. I will definitely be back
Great atmosphere and great food. I had the potato gnocchi which was light and refreshing. The arrancini was fresh, crispy, and full of cheese.
Pasta is very good. But reduced my review from 5 to 4 because the salmon is usually overcooked.
Brunch was amazing! Went a while ago and still thinking about it. Have to go back soon and more often. Had the ravioli and it was so good, the fresh ingredients make a world of difference. And the pancakes for brunch... people who dont even like pancakes couldnt get enough of these! Top it off with mimosas and this is a wonderful, solid, delicious meal!
Lovely pastas great service.
Love it. Special place to enjoy wine and a great conversation with friends. There was a jazz band playing and they were great.
Very good desserts!!! Entrees are also good. Nice ambience too
Wonderful staff. Excellent food. Good service.
Such a cute place but really disappointing pasta dishes.
For the location and the quality of the dishes, the prices remain quite reasonable... The atmosphere is nice, live jazz for Sunday brunch... A beautiful place with a modern but authentic Italian touch!
I had the grilled octopus, shrimp, and calamari. It was excellent! I had the crime brûlée for a desert and lemonade to drink. It was all fantastic. I paid $63 dollars for it. It s New York, so that s the price range you re in for good food. It goes up from here. I highly recommend this place! They had some ravioli with mushroom sauce that I really wanted to try but I was stuffed already.
Great vibe. Excellent service. Would highly recommend the lava stone sirloin for two.
Tartina is not an Italian-American restaurant that purchases red sauce in plastic 55-gallon drums. Chef Federico and Maria are real Italians and Chef Federico was trained in Italy. I would call their cuisine contemporary Italian. Some dishes I have enjoyed on multiple visits in the past year and which I would recommend include gnocchi fave e guanciale, spaghetti carbonara, anelli di crespelle, arancino and lava stone steak. Maria imported the lava stones from Italy. Maria has compiled an excellent, reasonably priced all-Italian wine list. If still available, the 2015 Torrevento primitivo from Puglia is terrific with the lava stone steak. The bar makes very good Negroni and excellent Manhattans.
My wife and I have been dining here regularly since they opened, and we ve never had a bad experience or a bad dish. Dinner and brunch are both terrific, and the service has always been very friendly. I m also happy to report that Tartina is still currently open for delivery, and the food is great as always!
I was very excited to go to a restaurant after 4 months of lockdown. However, this restaurant was not prepared as can be seen by the ill mannered servers that they have now. I went to the bathroom twice and the second time the server made an inappropriate joke about me with his buddies loud enough for me and my friend to hear. When confronted, he used the word off-joke . Please decide for yourself if wine and some italian food is worth being insulted publicly.
atmosphere, service, and food was good but got food poisoning the same night from the seafood pasta. later realized that a friend also got food poisoning a couple months earlier from a burger. disappointing :(
Great homemade pasta. Good food.
We had a great experience at Tartina! Food was delicious and service was good. Best part of it was their outdoor street dining which had string lights and good social distancing measures. Would suggest making reservations in advance as we had to wait a bit, but highly recommend.
I rarely like every dishes being served in a place and this is one of those places. I enjoyed everything. Food were delicious, service was professional and place was clean.
Like someone else mentioned, theres no leadership in this restaurant. All tables were empty at 1:30 pm on a Wednesday and they still refused to serve me because I was going to order a cappuccino and a dessert. Nowhere did it say they had a minimum for consumption. They lost a potential client who would have gone there with friends all the time (since my sons school is nearby and I go to the area daily). Thankfully, an excellent Italian restaurant, V&T, is around the block and they got my business.
Delicious food, plenty of distance from other people. Not cheap.
Great food, great service. I ordered the pancakes, the best I had, it s my kind of pancake, not too cakey, not too soft, not too firm either!
We were under the impression that the service here is in proportion to the amount of food or drinks that you order. After two rounds of inquiries of asking if we want to add more food or drinks, we were basically left alone without any service. We told the servers that we don t feel like drinks and we are ok with what we ordered. We waited 20min for our entree and it turned out we waited for nothing since it was not even in the system/not even cooked. There s no apology but instead we were asked again if we want to add another entree. The other table with customers ordered a lot of drinks/shots were served with constant attention and friendliness. My husband and I are very disappointed with the service. Just to note the busboy is very professional and nice.
Weve come here twice in three days. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable and definitely an incentive to come back. The wine list is eclectic and innovative, with excellent taste. We had Alexey helping us and he recommended the best, little-known wines from southern Italy. We had the mushroom ravioli and spaghettini and two arancini. Perfect dinner, excellent service. A neighborhood gem. Thanks Alexey!
Food was amazing, the ambiance perfect, great service!
Good food. Waiters could be better trained about the menu and a bit friendlier.
Great experience here for Sunday brunch. Live Jazz starts at noon. Excellent food with an Italian twist. Good GF choices - suggest that they stop pan frying the polenta with wheat flour - kinda goofy and makes a stellar GF option out of the question.
Remarkable food and excellent service. From appetizer to dessert we loved every bite.
