Busy Japanese joint specializing in rice bowls & ramen noodle dishes in a casual atmosphere.
Both of us were unfamiliar with West Harlem and we ended up coming to Jin Ramen, a ramen spot recommended in Michelin Bib Gourmand. They have an extensive menu with all types of ramen and brothless ramen. Overall it’s a good ramen spot and worth a try if you’re near one of their three locations in the city. The kuro tonkotsu features a rich broth packed with black garlic oil aroma. The grilled cha shu was smoky and perfectly glazed with sweet sauce. The soft-boiled egg was cooked to perfection. They used thin noodles which held the soup pretty well. My friend ordered their signature spicy tonkotsu. The broth was quite spicy in Japanese food standard, but not overbearing. A nice option if you want to spice up your ramen. You can get a complimentary yuzu drink if you order an entree. It was so refreshing for this weather and cleansed our palate after the meal.
I tried this place for the first time and I’ve lived in the neighborhood for years and wow, wow, wow. The best seller ramen is 10/10 amazing.
Super friendly, tasty, and awesome. The lunch special offers a great deal. Highly recommended!
Solid. Salmon app stayed crispy during delivery. Ramen also delivered well. The beef rice bowl was the star. Superior in taste and great value. Fed two of us. Overall, I’d order again.
Excellent ramen, fast and attentive service. Great atmosphere. We will be back !
Omgg...so good! My friend and I were in the mood for some ramen, and we stumbled across this place, and it did not disappoint. I have never had a pork bun where the pork just melted in my mouth as soon as I took a bite, and the bun itself be so light and airy and soft like a pillow. We also had the gyoza and fried chicken, and none of it was greasy. The fried chicken was flaky and easy to chew. And the ramen was well seasoned. Overall I'm very pleased, it was very good.
This is a very popular spot among students at Columbia so we decided to go. I had already heard a lot about this place, and was not disappointed. We were able to get a table easily. They had a huge menu with a lot of options, including vegetarian options. We really enjoyed the chicken gyoza, the chicken bao buns and the chicken ramen. The servers were very sweet and it’s reasonably priced. Would recommend coming here for sure.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff that answered all of our questions and provided recommendations. The table primarily got tonkotsu ramen and the broth was extremely salty which made the dinner not so great
Very nice staff food is great
Very tastefully decorated. Good service. Food was delicious.
Food was really good and came fast. However, I had to constantly call the waiter even when there wasnt a lot of people. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheel chair accessible
I really enjoyed my vegan green curry ramen. Not a traditional recipe, but awesome for people like me who don t eat pork. I thought it was a bit spendy, but all dining out is spendy for me these days. I will go back. Vegetarian options: Vegan broths! Dietary restrictions: In addition to traditional pork based broths, they have chicken and vegan broths.
The food is soooo good, the booths are a little close together so you are right next to the other tables but the food makes up for it
Good Ramen, attentive and friendly service!
Its delicious! really good
Raman is decent, but service is poor. The waiter who served me was even rude.
Have had their hot soba only and really like it, especially the mushroom one. Several options if youre vegan/vegetarian.
Thai green curry ramen is SO good! Vegetarian options: There are a few options but the green curry ramen enticed me. Food : 5/5 |
From basic ramen variants to elaborate Japanese dishes that I havent tried yet, this outpost near the Columbia Science campus is worth a visit for good food, friendly and efficient service and good value. Right by the 125 street number 1 subway stop.
Very yummy! Chill vibes.
Food is okay. Service was rude and bombastic.
Just what the weather called for!
The food was delicious, and the attention was super warm as well as the ambient. Really calm place.
It is a very relaxing place with classical music at a spectacular volume. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a place where those who come in wheelchairs enter
Anything Gluten Free we can eat? Charles...TKS
Great food, nice staff, diffently, a local spot with steady customer base
Ironically, ramin there is my least favorite food there on the menu
Great chill place with a nice lunch special! The zora soba was great and the service was amazing.
First time visiting Jin Ramen. It was a pleasant surprise. Excellent food with good-size portions. Service was friendly, quick, and happy to answer questions about the diverse menu. Would definitely patronize in the future.
Flavorful vegan ramen. Friendly staff
Lovely atmosphere and great food
Amazing service great food and the quality was great would definitely recommend to others who haven t tr
Always great food and service! My fave ramen spot
Amazing food, great service, and they gave us free yuzu drinks with our entree!!!!
The ramen is delicious, but not excellent. The price is high and the meat and toppings are scarce.
Ramen is so great , service is amazing and food highly recommend this place
JIN ramen is a hidden gem that should be a lot more famous! Food is delicious, service is great, atmosphere is cozy and fun.
Didnt get a chance to take any photos for those of you whod like to see photos of the food, but this place was amazing!!! Ive been to this place a number of times before COVID, and today I came by with a group of family and friends. It was their first time and we all enjoyed everything, from the ramen, karaage, pork & chicken buns, edamame, and yuzu drinks. Great atmosphere, the servers are attentive, and overall it was another wonderful experience for me, and yet another great place I recommend to anyone interested in checking this place out.
Hands down best Ramen in nyc, friendly staf,f fresh food and now they got drinks too. Vegetarian options: Im a meat eater, but it look like a good menu for vegetarian. Kid-friendliness: Early during the day.
Jin Ramen in Harlem has expanded their menu with some new izakaya style offerings including purple yam fries, with spicy mayo dipping sauce! And yuzu lemonade! Server Jason is also super helpful and friendly. Never disappoints!
Despite the occupied tables nearby (as you might expect in Manhattan), neither the service nor the atmosphere was affected. Outstanding ramen!!! You have to go!
The service is HORRIBLE. The server add things that I didnt order to my bill. I ask for a refund and it is extremely SLOW with BAD attitude. They also REFUSED TO REFUND THE EXTRA TIPS!!!! I would say avoid this place when the servers are busy. They are not professional at all. Worst experience ever.
Super dope, servers are nice, food is great.
The ramen was filling. The egg was perfectly done. I expected it to be spicy because it had a chili next to it. It wasn t even remotely spicy. At all.
Highly recommended restaurant. The atmosphere is very pleasant with a very fun decoration. The treatment of the waiters very pleasant and attentive. The menu is very varied and at very good prices. Everything was very delicious, from the rice to the ramen and the gyozas. I would definitely recommend it and I will return for sure.
Food was great! the noodles were delicious
They say gluten free options. But its only rice. Bait and switch
Excellent ramen, big portions, reasonable prices and nice people
The food was so delicious especially the kakuni. The attention and atmosphere simply great.
Best Kimchi ramen in town! Even the best among all Jim ramen s in Manhattan <3 Thanks for the consistency in preparation ever since I had my first Kimchi ramen with you guys in 2019
Awesome food, service, and atmosphere. The food was tasty, prices low, & the service fast. Will be coming back
Excellent place
Upon arriving on March 14, 2024 at 6:45pm, I was 0kindly greeted by two very polite and courteous servers. The food was exceptional and so was the service. I will be going back and bringing others with me. I so appreciated the hospitality. KUDO! Vegetarian options: Great meal with sesame string beans.
Very tasty ramen in the heart of West Harlem in a restaurant similar to a small shop! The staff are charming!
I ve dined at all three locations many times and have always had a pleasant experience. Tonight however, my teenage daughter and her teenage friend went to have dinner on their own. When it came time to pay the bill they did not plan on leaving a tip because their waiter did not tend to them the whole time they were there. When the waiter saw that, he pointed it out to them that they didn t leave a tip - in front of the guests embarrassing them to the point that my daughter had to purchase a soda just to add a tip. I m a tipper, and so my daughter has learned to tip - but we tip according to service so if she felt the waiter didn t deserve one then that s how she felt - but for this adult to try and embarrass children is crazy, extremely unprofessional, and very disappointing because as I ve mentioned before, we ve always enjoyed ourselves at all the Jin Ramens. I will not be back to the 125th St. location.
Pretty decent ramen spot
very delicious!!
The Choyu Ramen had a thin broth and the bamboo shoots could use some further tenderizing. However it was a nice bowl to have for lunch on a cold day.
Great place. You can never go wrong.
Great vegan ramen!!
Was visiting my godchild and she wanted to eat here. The staff was amazing as was the ramen. Cozy and cool. We went for lunch on a Saturday and we were seated right away. I would definitely go back
Very good ramen, I totally recommend the Tonkotsu, it is the best!
Party of 3 ordered takeout. It was delivered quickly. Loved the food! Quantity was huge. Broth was well packed. I had the Miso Ramen. Friends had the tonk and the veg miso ramen. Everything was delicious!!
This is the best ramen place in upper Manhattan. It is a sit-down place with great service and even better ramen. This is my go-to place when Im in the area. I would definitely recommend especially on a cold day. You wont be disappointed.
The staff was very welcoming. Clean restaurant and The food tasted so good. The tofu don t even taste like tofu and that s a good thing. I had a nice time Recommended dishes
Very good great service
This Ramen is great! Such a cozy small place and it feels like homemade plates to enjoy! And their Japanese beer selection and also great.
Friendly service, flavorful stock, volcano tonkotsu is pretty hot. $5 happy hour draft cant be beat.
The bus. So pog legos.
Best soup I have ever had!
This place was pretty awesome. Loved the Japanese curry ramen. The best of both worlds.
Excellent food and quick service
It is no longer what it was.
the place had a foul smell and the food too...there is definitely better ramen for the same price in nyc
Delicious food, great atmosphere, lovely staff.
4.5 stars actually. The Tonkotsu ramen is soooooooo flavorful. I read it takes all day to make. I usually get food out that would make absolutely no sense to make at home and Tonkotsu ramen is one of them. One small thing is that the noodles are not top top quality. I think MOMOFUKU has them beat on that. But not the broth.
Jin Ramen serves up some truly delicious ramen and other tasty dishes. If youre a fan of ramen, you wont be disappointed with the flavors and quality of the noodles and broth. That being said, its worth noting that the restaurant has become increasingly popular in recent years, which unfortunately means that it can get quite crowded and the prices have gone up as well. While its understandable that the popularity of the place would lead to higher prices, some customers may feel that its become too expensive for what it offers. Nonetheless, you must try this place if you are a Ramen aficionado.
The food was very good! I ordered the basic Ramen Soup and 2 Pork buns, however, it was pretty expensive. My order plus a 18% tip on a take out meal was $34!
We ordered Shoyu Ramen and Kuro Shio. Both ramen too salty. I recommend karage Soba and Tuna Yukke Don Great portion and tasty. The pork bun is good. I don t think it s worth going again but there aren t many choices around Columbia university.
Ordered takeout from here multiple times since its nearby. We like their spicy tonkatsu ramen
I ve been to Jin Ramen twice and it is definitely my favorite ramen place I ve been to in NYC so far. It s right across from the H&R Block, so my husband and I have made it a tradition to go there to have dinner or celebrate after we finish our taxes. I love their karaage chicken and shishito peppers. Both are solid appetizers and are executed well. I ve had the tonkatsu ramen before and this time I got the black garlic yuzu ramen with shishito peppers and karaage and the broth was peppery, spicy, and had a lot of umami. It was great! You cannot go wrong with tonkatsu ramen here -the broth is rich and flavorful. I ve been to other ramen places in NYC where the broth is so disappointing in comparison- either not rich enough, not enough umami, or too sour. I prefer traditional Japanese ramen over the fusion styles that are rampant across NYC. If you re looking for high-quality traditional Japanese ramen, Jin Ramen is the place to go!
Excellent vegetarian selection
Delicious ramen and noodle dishes - love the Nanban. Great lunch specials and happy hour. My favorite place for ramen while visiting NYC.
Awesome place, great traditional Japanese ramen, good atmosphere. Will eat again during my internship for sure!
Okay ramen broth, bad chashu, and mediocre appetizers.
Jin Ramen is great most bad reviews are very pretentious. The spot is small, quaint, and cute. The service was really quick! Only complaint are the tables are a bit small but we ordered a lot of food and had no problem accommodating to us. We can in about 1hr 30 before closing and we did not feel rushed. The strawberry Negroni tequila cocktail was very well thought out. Matt was an awesome server. I ll surely be back to eat with them again. I had chicken boa buns, Kimchi Ramen, my cousin had pork ramen, and we shared a Donburi bowl.
This was the best ramen Ive had. Make sure to add the volcano sauce if you like spice!!!
Had a bowl of ramen on Thursday night. 8hrs later, food poisoning. Thanks guys
World class ramen here, folks.
First everything was fresh but the flavors are off. Ordered the Mabo Tofu Dry Ramen, a side of Wakame plus a drink through Seamless but sadly it s a no for me and my fiancé. The dry ramen was so extremely sweet that I stopped eating it after 2 bites. And I could be wrong but I think the Mabo Tofu is supposed to be a rendition of the Mapo Tofu (Sichuan). Either way it was not edible and the Wakame was also overly sweet (usually there s just a pinch of sugar in it, if at all). Authentic Japanese cuisine is rarely so overly sweet/salty but this just didn t seem authentic at all. If they re heavy handed when using sugar, I can only imagine how salty the other dishes must be.
Always deliver solid ramen. Looks small but staff friendly and great atmosphere. I come here pretty much every week.
Great ramen, service was good too.
Vegetarian options: Three very good vegetarian options Food
Service was quick and efficient, they have lunch prices which helps the wallet a little bit. I got the pork baos and they were way over sauced, the sweet sauce overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. As for the tonkotsu ramen, it was very oily and not very flavorful. The noodles were too Al dente for my liking, I like it to be a bit softer.
Given the wild popularity of Ramen in this city, I dont offer this recommendation lightly. Jin Ramen is truly superlative. Their ramen bowls all demonstrate a complex affinity for what ramen is as a complete dish, every ingredient is clearly carefully chosen for cohesion and elevation. Its the rare menu that Im enjoying so much that Im trying everything at least once. The noodles are spectacular as well, the perfect balance of melding with the flavors of the broth and bowl without becoming too soggy or messy. This is truly a magnificent ramen spot.
Some of the best ramen in the city - and this coming from someone who lived in Japan and traveled for ramen.
Authrntic taste
I didnt know it was possible to have a bad bowl of ramen in NYC, but its here. The menu tries to be interesting, but the broth didnt have any depth or umami. The noodles were the WORST. Not bouncy and toothsome. I couldnt finish my bowl.
Huge and hearty bowl of tonkotsu ramen, a little on the saltier side and not as flavourful as I am used to (though I have high standards for ramen, been to Japan). Still amazing when the cravings hit and I especially loved the ajitama egg.
This was not delightful tasted burnt like burnt pot and the customer service received was also not the best I don t recommend this place a lil expensive & not worth the money
Loved everything: service, food and draft Sapporo beer which stayed cold the entire meal. The house salad is a Mt Fuji of crisp lettuce swathed in a piquant dressing. Adored the al dente dry ramen veg bowl including multo mushrooms, the best on the UWS and the house made chicken gyoza. A perfect meal crafted by an excellent chef Muhammad and served by the elegant Mansoor. We were so impressed we asked their names. Vegetarian options: Excellent choice
3.5 stars. It s pretty good, definitely among the best options in Harlem. I had the volcano shio ramen with the volcano paste on the side to spice it myself. GREAT CHOICE. It s delicious but super spicy. Not for the spice sensitive lol. My partner had the curry ramen which was five stars. If I ordered that my review may have been higher. The cocktails taste like they come out of a can. Crazy sweet! The decor is great, lots of fun posters. I ve been twice now, it s an easy walkable option.
Very delicious chicken ramen, not very great choice of drinks and second time we came they were out of all cocktail beverages.
Delicious!
They serve raw enoki mushrooms on delivery. hot broth will not kill listeria, which is present in >40% of enoki mushrooms. Manager says we don t cook it upon calling can t imagine how many people have gotten listeria here without knowing (it can take literally months to get symptoms) - this is beyond unacceptable for a restaurant
Love the cook - made with love at Harlem -144th location - get my fix weekly!!
Best Ramen that I ve had and pork buns are a must
Love the tofu salad and black garlic ramen been coming here for years!!!! Love it so much!!!!!!!
Monster was amazing! Nice guy and knew his stuff
I love it! Kin ramen the legend!
I wouldnt visit this restaurant. Servers are very rude. We went in for lunch, and we were a party of 10. A server at the door gave us a hostile look saying that they are short staffed and asked us to give them a call when if a big party is coming in. At that point, I was like oh well, it is annoying but understandable. Our server informed us that the order would take a bit long, and when we asked how long it would take, the server sighed very loudly, so everyone could hear. We were trying to have lunch with a guest speaker, and this was not a pleasant experience at all. To be honest, I will never visit this restaurant again, and use this place to bring in guests.
The food was great, but news flash guys, your restaurant is not located in West Harlem. Its located in Morningside Heights. West 125 Street is what divide West Harlem and Morningside Heights neighborhoods. Vegetarian options: I saw a lot of meatless options, so it counts. Kid-friendliness: Kids, can it this too.
Decent ramen and karaage right by the 125 st 1 train.
This is an amazing choice for Ramen and Asian cuisine. Reviews affirm the high quality and exceptional experience this place provides. I tried one of their bestsellers, and it tasted incredibly delicious. I highly recommend it.
Ramen, chashu fried rice, and karaage have all been very tasty. Lunch specials are nice.
Ramen was ok..I ve had better but I ve been looking to try this place for a long time.
Very tasty tonkatsu ramen
Nice happy hour deal but the ramen is very overpriced for the quality.
The food was a bit cold , and I felt like we were rushed out because they were getting ready to close and set up for diner
Really good ramen
Good noodle shop.
We had vegan ramen bowl. it was so flavorful and delicious. We inhaled it. The place is cozy and clean; the staff is friendly and efficient. If you want a quick bite and crave Ramen, it s your place.
The vegan signature ramen is so flavorful, it is incredible. According to the staff, it has a lot more flavor than meat based ramen options. Highly recommended. Attaching the menu as of Mar 2022.
Great I like it
The closing time on the website and in the advertisements says at 10 on Sunday. I arrived at 9 and they told me to only take out because they are close to closing. ok they lost a regular customer
If you come for pick up, make sure they understand you. My order was ready but for some reason I was still told it s not ready yet.
The meat is too little. Don t worth that price. And the environment is also bad. The worst restaurant!!!!!
Such a great find
We tried the shoyu and the kuro tonkotsu. Both bowls were plated sloppily, had a mass of unfolded overcooked noodles in the center and lacked flavor. The chashu pork was incredibly tiny and were glazed with teriyaki sauce which was its only source of flavor and didn t mesh with the bowls. We loved the story and were excited to try a new ramen shop from the michelin guide but it just wasn t quite what we were expecting.
This is my preferred to ramen place. I m a soup person so trust me I loveeeeee ramen and tried many places. But Jim is my top fave to go to when I can. I love in the Bronx (fairly close to the bridge to cross to Manhattan Jin is a 15 min drive from me) I order and I pick it up. They never fail. They re broth is hearty. Has a lot of flavor and it s packed they aren t cheap with toppings. However I would like for them to include a full egg rather than half an egg and not make me pay for my whole egg. Other than that I love this place. I give it a one star because they are a little pricey but ramen usually is pricey ¯\_( )_/¯ One of my fave places.
Do not ask servers to pack your ramen as they tend to throw half of it away to fit their tiny plastic to-go boxes. The manager was kind enough to listen to our grievance and offer us a free ramen. But when we went to Jin again, the new server commented that they are going to give us a box to pack our ramen because we had trouble the last time and they dont want to get into the middle of it. First of all, this is no way to treat a customer who literally saw most of their $18 ramen thrown out and secondly, the fact that this incident was brought up again was extremely rude. I have always had a great experience with the staff and food at Jin Ramen but the last two times have been very disappointing with rude and ineffecient staff that throw away your food and talk rudely. I would skip this place and instead go to other ramen places like ippudo or ichiran ramen.
Ramen isnt anything great compared to the price. Been having bad service issues here as well. Time to find a new local ramen joint.
Amazing food for good prices
Delicious and a lot of variety! Super quick service too
Excellent experience. Ramen was great, really tasty but not overly salty. Relatively small menu which I like. Very buzzy street
Used to be my favorite spot to go now they are cutting back and giving less food for the same price they only gave me one piece of pork, one leaf of bok choy and the egg was sliced into thirds it seemed. Just raise the price if you need to, don t cut the food. Lost my weekly visit and the recommendation to friends and family
Ramen is ok
I certainly understand why the got a Michelin Bib. Always great experience!
The waiters put up a closed sign when it was only 9:20 pm. They themselves said that the restaurant closes at 10 but refused to seat us. Hopefully the owner knows about this and what his employees are doing. What unacceptable behavior. Please change your timing to 9 pm if you refuse to seat customers early.
The place stops serving after 9:00pm but you can get take out. The owner should adjust the closing time. Furthermore, when I arrived, the closing sign was already hung up 1hr before 10.
You get what you pay for, the food is incredibly delicious, the presentation is spot on and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Would definitely come here again!
I was surprised to see a friendly staff member who spoke Korean fluently. The staff here are all friendly and the food is delicious.
Flavorful and consistently delicious.
The best !!
Very good food and service. Will be back again. Highly recommended.
YOUR WEBSITE IS BROKEN!! Why dont you deliver between 145 and 160?? I dont even have the option to check out online when I put in a correct address. Food is amazing but its very difficult to support this restaurant I love!
The attention needs to be improved a bit
Excellent Ramen, would highly recommend.
Excellent Ramen and soup base. A bit pricey and hope they will bring the price down after this ridiculous situation were all in.
amazing!!! such good food as always. best noodle place in new york. the servers are also very kind and patient. last time we went it was raining and their kitchen flooded unfortunately, so they couldnt make us food, but the chef was very kind and recommended another restaurant. thank you jin ramen!
The food is very good and the customer service is excellent I recommend it
Location is great, decor not so great, my food was bland but my husbaands was good.
Great Japanese lunch spot!
Taste okay, no Japanese found, only plenty of Chinese customers
Jason makes the best frozen Leche drinks the best i ever tested and he is and amazing person he needs a major raise
I had basic tonkatsu ramen. My husband had a vegetarian curry dry noodle. I like mine but he doesnt like his food very much. The place was a little cold with a/c on the day we were there. The service was so-so. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options.
Fantastic ramen, excited to have the new location on 148th street. Only complaint is that it s super bright, please dim the lights.
My favorite ramen place in the city. Being close to the place I climb helps :) The house made noodles are quality, and the ingredients and broth are well balanced and flavorful, not too aggressive with salt. The appetizers are also great, with an variety of choices.
it was awesome and amazing
Perfect place for a quick bite before or after class! I ordered the classic shoyu ramen and my friend got the spicy ramen. The portion size is pretty big, but some parts of my noodles were clumped together. It was slightly hard to eat but the flavor was great! The service is good as well.
Fantastic spot for a quick bite. Ramen is top notch, plenty of great add ons and the base of each bowl is exceptional. Highly recommend if youre trying to catch lunch in the area.
Was meeting my friend for lunch and she has a disability and has a service dog. The host was like can I put you at a table outside. My friend asked why because they didn t want the dog to disturb the other guests. My friend explained that the dog was a service animal and under ADA law they can t treat her any differently. After some back and forth we agreed to bet set at the patio to be met with restaurant equipment next to our the table and our server didn t greet and was silent until my friend said thank you. She gave us our water about 10 minutes later she hasn t come back and we decided to leave. Disappointing services.
A winter staple! Everything I ve ever had here has been so filling and super delicious.
Ramen is my ultimate comfort food whatever time of the year, whatever weather or climate I may be in I need Ramen. I stopped by Jin Ramen as a newish New Yorker as my first ramen experience it was decent. I went for lunch which they do specials for some dishes from 11:30am to 3:30pm (Spicy Tonkotsu was $16 instead of $19) the spot is small and clean. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered a Sapporo Black, Spicy Tonkotsu Pork Ramen, and a side of Chicken Karaage. The Ramen was good just not spicy at all I even proceeded to get the Volcano side to spice things up... Still nothing maybe my spice tolerance is beyond restaurant spicy now. Chicken Karaage was good. I would definitely recommend. I will definitely be back!
Great food! One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood for ramen. Runs a little slow, but totally worth the wait!
Its not bad, but its not the best Its okay.
Delicious ramen soup and pork tacl buns like. Sale was cold and refreshing.
Waiter forgot my order name. Saw a bug on my table. Food was expensive.
Portion size a bit big for my liking. Broth was good. I loved how the egg was so soft and melty. The noodles texture is just perfect.
Jin was a great time the ramen broth was really flavorful! We also had the peppers and karaage chicken which was also really good.
Pretty good ramen and don.
This used to be my favorite ramen place when I lived in NYC but my last visit was a disappointment. The atmosphere has always been spartan and service has always been perfunctory so neither are my main gripe, this time it was the food itself, specifically the noodles... They were a strange texture that caused me to not even finish the bowl. I dont know if I can describe the problem other than saying that the mouth feel was gummy, like overcooked pasta, not al dente (to use an Italian phrase.) It was strange and off-putting. Also, the ramen is normally served piping hot and this was lukewarm at best - the half hardboiled egg was cold in the middle. Ugh. Oh, and I ordered an appetizer of edamame which came to the table so oversalted that I wound up trying to scrape the salt off on the side of the bowl but it was still really salty, Id avoid it.
My son who is 11 loves the food and the variety on the menu. Waiters are very patient as he orders his food. Great prices too. Kid-friendliness: Patient with kids
Spicy Tonkotsu ramen, dry Japanese curry ramen, chicken nanban buns
I love this place. Five stars all the way!
I had a delicious bowl of kimchi ramen for lunch today. The place was not crowded and I loved the vibe. Everyone was welcoming and warm. I will totally be coming back.
I ve tried every ramen around Morningside Heights and this has always been #1. It s not about the ambience or the service or anything (which are all great), it s just the feeling of eating that ramen that brings me back almost once a month.
