Used to enjoy going Im going here but its too wild too many drugs around and its overall a bad crowd got drugged talk to the owner about it then band 0 out of 10 would avoid time and time again

Excellent Place.

Wed afternoon Jan24 3 of us. Barmaid was very nice & professional. All our food/ dishes were hot/fresh & very good. Pricing is fair. Atmosphere = paint & redesign maybe.

I fell down the stairs and was very unhappy the place is a death trap, too bad you couldnt extend it would be like a first floor probably a big job Kid-friendliness: I dont really get along with Wheelchair accessibility: How am I supposed to get up that hill asking for a friend

I had such a great time at this pub in downtown Newmarket with my friends! The live music band was fantastic and really added to the lively atmosphere. The drinks were great and the staff were friendly and attentive. Cant wait to go back for another fun night out!

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. Basically; we were in line to get upstairs and this absolutely coked out guy tried to fight a guy in front of us in line and he got kicked out but then they let him back inside like 4 times and made him leave so many times but he d always end up back and try to hurt people Also, coked out guys friend tried to smash a bottle over my friends head. Not only physically abusing my friend, she started verbally abusing my friend by calling her ugly and threatening to hurt her. we told the security guard and he did nothing even though he said he would. Once we were upstairs, the coked out dude came upstairs at least four times and would try to fight people. Security guards did nothing. And then his friend who was a girl started to try to fight our girl friends. She smashed a bottle annd tried to stab our friend with it who had nothing to do with here. Then she grabbed other friends hair and Pulled it to the ground. She also scratched our friend in the eye and the neck and she has marks from it. Again security guards did nothing. And this girls other friends started to fight our guy friends but they were so coked out they wouldn t do anything. Overall, the security guards suck here. Knocking my friends tooth out is just not okay with me.

This place turns into a night club after a certain time, its a young crowd so its not for everyone but if your there early you can enjoy a live band and great food

Pub was dead. Service was fine. Food was bad, like out of a can bad. Do not order the Mac and cheese unless you are in the mood for cream cheese flavoured soup with noodles in it.

Thank you Grey Goat for a great time and great hospitality to hosting the Leitrim Hawks A1 U15 House Ottawa hockey team attending the Bradford Hockey Jan 2023 tournament, of which we won!. The service and staff were fantastic hosting our event and the food was delicious! Loved the Liver and onions - reminded me as a kid growing up. Kid-friendliness: Were great providing friendly service to our hockey team. First time I have ever been at a place where the staff wasnt telling the players to calm down waiting for food!

It needs a wholesale change... a mop a bucket and a huge cleaning crew, paint, flooring, new facilities... To bad it has huge potential.

Staff are all friendly and atmosphere is fun! Musics way to loud even for when we went on a Saturday for how big the place was. Main issue was the price of drinks. Crazy expensive

Best experience.I book upstairs for my brother birthday, the service was amazing and it was a memorable night , u can book upstairs and have your private party with speaker that u can chose your own songs and have best night, highly recommend this place.

Literally just fine. The place is very dirty though... There was literally dried vomit and paper towel in the bathroom upstairs. Since it was dried up, it was most likely there for at least a day before someone cleaned it. You can tell cleanliness is not a priority. They cater more toward a younger crowd of people under 25, and you can tell on a Saturday night. It seems to be treated more like a club than a bar just fyi!

Only people in the bar so service was great, I guess its a bit dead on a Monday night so if youre looking for something a bit quieter for a beer or two, its great.

Food and drinks were good, cleanliness is not a priority. Upstairs is a mess, floor is sticky and bathroom sink was broken. Two guys were in the one stall bathroom, most likely doing drugs. You d think you would have more control over this, security was there but only at the main doors. 10:30 - 2:00 on a Saturday it turns into a club with all people ages 19-25

The washrooms upstairs were a disgrace. As the place is being over run by what looks like underage teens. No management to be found. Only reason I dont give it a 1 Star, is Ill give it the benefit of the doubt that if you went during the day it may be fine as the food was very very good.

Food was good! Outdoor tables look about 100 years old and bathrooms needed some work. The way they served the fries needs to change, ask for your fries on a plate, not the weird cone holder they come in. Half your fries end up falling out on the table.

Arrived at 10pm the live band finished an hour prior, no atmosphere, all lights were on and no music. They have dart boards but NO darts. Service was rude. Great if you are a dog lover they had four full sized dogs inside the bar

NICE FOR WEEKEND VIBES

Been coming here for years. Used to love it. Used to feel like there was a sense of community and love for music. Now it s barely a half decent establishment. No patio permit and incredibly rude servers. Just go somewhere else honestly

This place is an S-Show! Great for a Banter night but not if you really want a nice evening. The karaoke shouldn t have been happening, some poor dude was djing to an empty patio in the snow and the overall clientele was just insane. Food was good though.

We didnt end up eating here. The server was rude to us on the phone and my partner had concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen.

What to say about this place? Walking in, there is puke right outside the door from last night. No covid passport check (not that I m mad) the worst watered down Caesar s brought to our table that were not drinkable. This is surprising considering the server appeared like she was still feeling the effects of last night. The glassware and cutlery were dirty. Food was actually okay, once a couple long dark hairs were removed. kitchen staff gave this review 1 star. A staff member also joined our server in another room where the door was then closed and they both emerged together 10 minutes later. Looks like we were t the only ones looking for a morning pick me up. Do yourself a favour and enjoy another establishment.

Oldest Pub in Newmarket. That speaks for itself. This is Newmarket s go to nightlife spot. Drinks are great. Customer service is great. Can t ask for more. Will be back soon!

Always heard good things about this pub but as someone who doesnt drink very often I hadnt gotten a chance to go until recently. My first experience was great, good selection of drinks, very affordable appetizers and the music selection was decent. They were adhering to covid guidelines and had shields between all the tables and required you to wear masks while you arent seated. All the staff were friendly and I had a great night. Now that things are opening back up after all the shut downs this place is still doing great. One of my friends is a regular here and Ive started coming here every couple weeks, food is good and atmosphere is great

I haven t been to this pub in at least ten years. I was a little shocked to see the state of it now. I hadn t eaten all day and was starving so I ordered a shepherds yorkie? Yorkshire? because I love shepherds pie. Unfortunately what I received was not what was written on the menu. The menu stated, and I m paraphrasing here, shepherds pie served in a warm Yorkshire bowl with a side of fresh sautéed vegetables. What I received was a microwaved, frozen Yorkshire shell that was hard as a rock filled with the saltiest meat goo from a bag with no identifiable vegetables in it, topped with two ice cream scoops of mashed potatoes with a side of still partially frozen vegetables that never came close to a sauté pan. I am not a complainer about such things so much as I am a retainer of information that can be used and passed on to others. I have been to some of the seediest pubs in the world and still, they served better food than this. I suspect that nothing is made in house and every item on the menu sits in a freezer until ordered. Clearly, whoever prepared this meal gave up a long time ago. The only redeeming quality to this pub was my server. Very friendly and astute but I m having a hard time finding another reason to recommend this pub. Two stars for cleanliness and food and I ll give to my server.

Fine place if you want a drink and leave right away. The waitress was not nice and avoided taking our order for food so we asked for the bill and left. Definitely a late night drinkers bar. Also the main area smelt like puke

simply the worst pub bar experience i ve ever had. from enjoying my friends birthday party to being harassed and verbally abused by the rude security. not only did he put his finger to my mouth to stop me from talking, he further decided to call me a stereotypical black chick?? rude owner who lied and and promised things he could not even come close to making possible. horrible security. very dangerous scene wont be back and definitely don t recommend this place to anyone. doesn t even deserve 1/4 of a star.

If I could give this place 0/4 stars I would. It s absolutely disgusting the way the owner and security guards treat their customers. From ordering what we thought freshly cooked pizza and wings were going to be for an event, we got cold pizza pizza. From what we told was going to be a private event with security, the security guards were bringing teenagers up to get drinks and dance. I m disgusted and wouldn t ever recommend this place to anyone.

As Grimy as it gets. But a good time nonetheless. Watch out for the girls youll meet here. None of them sleep at home from Friday-Sundays. Its greasy, grimy, but a good time. Keep your nose clean.

If I could leave less than one star I would, the only way I can see that this place is still in business is because of all the drunks hanging out there buying alcohol.. got a roast beef sandwich and paid 20$ for two thinly sliced pieces of roast beef that were thinner than the cheese put on the sandwich.. left hungry

Omelette was disgusting, not cooked thru. Was initially still charged for it even tho I ate 1 bite.

If you know me you know I love nachos. I had to start making my own because no restaurant nachos was close to being acceptable. Tonight I tried Grey Goat nachos for the first time and I have to say they are the best restaurant nachos I have ever had. Not a single complaint. Just yummmm!!

5 stars for the experience, not the food or drinks. Don t expect a fancy pub, it s a rundown place with a charm. I have seen drunks getting kicked out of here, in Newmarket, can you believe? It also gets very busy sometimes.

Absolutely brutal. If you want to go stand in line for 2 hours while you watch dozens of people leave and won t let people in, while watching the security guard power trip like he s protecting the president, then this is the place for you! Me and a group of friends decided to go to The Goat. We stood in line for 2 HOURS! We moved about 15 feet the whole time while we watch the security guard let a select people in who came from nowhere. What a waste of a night. The security guard (who s ego is so big that the Gray Goat might have to expand the square footage just so it could fit) kept coming up with BRUTAL excuses of why people couldn t go in that didn t even make sense. The place WASN T EVEN BUSY INSIDE. When people were leaving I had asked them what s going on in there and they said, and I quote There s no one in there, it s so dead. This place is a joke, go somewhere else . So I don t know what the owners and security guards are smoking there but I would assume it s very strong. I could say many more brutal things about this place but you get my point. That place was a laughing stock by the end of the night. I voiced my opinion out to the security guard that this bar needs to figure it s sh!t out as we left because we were tired of waiting and I was rushed to the hospital from a severe swollen hand from all the high fives I received. So needless to say I m speaking for everyone when I am writing this. DO. NOT. GO. HERE.

I only had the greek salad, but it was very good. The service was excellent, inside smells like an old pub. Not pleasant but not shocking.

This was my first time at this pub and it was a very disappointing experience. To start off, the place itself was very dirty. There were dead wasps on the window sill (inside) and the tables were sticky. Our server was very nice, however the other employees there were acting very inappropriate (they were screaming and slapping each other s butts). The worst part about our experience was the food. We only ended up ordering the calamari and deep fried pickles and both were absolutely disgusting. The calamari did not even taste like calamari, it was probably the worst calamari I ve ever had! I was super excited to try this place but was let down. Don t recommend!

There security tried to strong hand me and tried to forcefully take my hand bag. Implying I had alcohol in it. (I had my ID and money in it)

If I could give them zero stars I would. Theyre the worst bar on the street. Between the food that is prepared in the most unhealthy way, they have a security guard who escalates every situation and gets you assaulted. Then once you call the police on the bar, youre banned. For literally keeping yourself safe lol just dont go. Its awful.

November 7th Monday 2022 12:15am The server was chatting and drinking with her friends and ignored us for a couple minutes and then told us to grab a seat with a drunk attitude. Came to have a late dinner night with a friend of mine and we were shocked. She d be long gone if that was my business. Hopefully someone will look into this

I will have to side with all negative reviews regarding this establishment and reluctantly leave a negative review, because in general I dont like doing that. However- once I read so many stories here and saw people experienced same things- my one star is probably more than this place deserves.

Excellent food for excellent price! I decided to try this restaurant on a whim as I saw it had good reviews. The food was very flavourful and great portions, I will definitely be coming back

Weve ordered from the Grey Goat for our lunch in the office, the food iz amazing, fresh and really delicious! They have also added some complimenatry stuff to our order, which was a very nice gesture. Highly recomended! Lets support locals, especially when they are so awesome! Hopefully soon will come to dine-in!

The grey goat has delicious food !!. It is always fresh , served hot and they have a large variety of pub foods to choose from . The servers and owner show great customer service and I have never been disappointed. Cant wait for them to open back up !

Best bar in town

Tonight we group of 6 had dinner at Grey Goat, the place is beautiful, the food is good, but the service was excellent, the girl who served our table (July ) is professional, very patient and helpful, we all are pleased and appreciate her kindness. Thank you

Ordered with Skip the dishes while I was at SRH they forgot to give me my drinks, I called and spoke with Cam and he was so awesome he made us 2 new soups and got us our ginger ales and then delivered to the hospital for us! Thank you so much Cam you made a very hard day of no food end very well!

The new menu is very good. Looking foward to hearing some live music soon. Hard top Gazebos are much better to eat undwr when its raining lightly or hard.

I ordered a Long Island Ice-T and they didnt put ANY alcohol in it...so I ordered one again (asking to take back the first one). Same thing...so they brought me a separate shot glass with the ACTUAL alcohol and I poured it in and it was perfect. WATCH OUT for these guys they are crooks and will cut any corners if they can. Great patio BUT HORRIBLE service and CHEATS!

Service and food was fine, I would recommend they change the table cleaner they have because the patio tables were oddly sticky (even after they wiped it down too) (Also to anyone ordering the jalapeño suicide wings, have no fear - they arent as spicy as they sound)

I love the Grey Goat! The food is quite good and I love sitting on the patio over looking main street.

Love to come to this place for drinks.. food was good but came out at very different times for our one table of two. The grossest thing though had to be the poor waitress that went to take a gross old mans drink order who grabbed her arm and slapped it. I have seen him there before behaving the same way towards the waitresses. The owner should not let the wait staff be preyed upon from old men who think they can grab the girls because they tip well. I have worked in similar restaurants and have been victim to this kind of behavior and I dont wish it on anyone. Owner needs to take a good look at how he runs his business and keep his staff safe from health, safety, and violence.

Great spot for good music, food, ,d an excellent staff

Very lively restaurant with people from all ages and stages. Staff were wonderful and timely with take out protocols. The food I ordered were both delicious 1) grilled lemon salmon and 2) stuffed chicken breast. Would gladly go back again!

I dont understand how this place has 4 stars That made me choose the place to have a drink and share an aperitif with my husband yesterday afternoon but unfortunately neither what he ordered nor what I ordered we liked He ordered calamari but that wasnt calamari it looked like and it tasted like cuttlefish Im going to share the photos with you in a moment I ordered a puttin and it was the worst puttin Ive ever eaten in my life come on, mc donals putin is delicious compared to what they brought me to the table and why speak of the margarita that I order which they serve in servesa glasses is well watered down with a light tequila flavor but without salt or lemon in general I do not recommend this place to anyone !

Honestly, my first time there and it was a good amount of people there. The place does look way bigger from the outside than what it appears on the inside. Still very warm and cozy wood finished on everything inside. Nice place, but felt it could have used some art or deco pieces?
