Ten Gallon Bar and Grill in Newmarket

This was an absolutely terrible experience. We arrived there at 8 and did not get any menus or any service for half an hour and only because we asked. We ordered and did get our food until 10:45 after complaining. We ordered the steak sandwich, and it was completely inedible. It was super oily and was impossible to chew as it was super hard. The food tasted unseasoned, and we later found out that the steak we ordered was just ground beef. The prices were very high and portions were so small that it wasn t even enough for one person. We had paid entrees for the Yalda celebration and made a booking in advance for 7 people, and we were fined a small booth that could barely fit 4 people. All the furniture and tables were old and seemed dirty. This was not at all what we were expecting. They were only two waiters working and some people were getting more attention than others. Lots of favouritism involved. Place was also highly unprofessional. There were many errors in the menu as well. Absolutely disgusted from this experience. Highly unrecommended.

New owners, great bar. Went for karaoke Wednesday with host Ken, great sound, friendly people, great service. Good deals , lots of activities open mic Monday, line dancing Tuesdays. I highly recommend you visit.

I really love this place with new management and very friendly staffs. Shayan is a very kind and cute guy and gives you a homey feels. Music is perfect according to events. I strongly recommend this bar restaurant to everyone and Any beer lover , btw. Order Persian pizza . It s a new heaven, I love the way Shayan dance and serve customers. I give 5 stars overall.

It was my first time that i came at this place, i went with my family and i should say the staff was super friendly and the food was amazing specially the pizza and the entertainment was awesome, i really recommend it. The only bar and grill that allows stay with children with family entertainment

Expeeinces like this make you wonder why you can not not only not giving stars but also taking away stars, Mr. Shayad either has to tune down his attitude or change line of work, hospitality and service is not his area. His service was so bad that actually took away from anything positive that could happen tonight to my friends and I, food is not sth to even mention. All in all last time for us to show up there. Staff were friendly, Music was good, I recommend Persian nights. I have gone there couple of times and noticed continuous improvement in service and music.

The owner is so lovely and talkative. The atmosphere is happy and there s always fun music and dancing. The food was also amazing especially the spinich dip.

The place was empty when we showed up Thursday night at around 7pm. Probably shouldve taken that as a sign that the place wasnt popular. However, in the past it was always packed so I thought nothing of it. Service started good with the drinks. Ordered them and they came fast. It started taking a turn after ordering the nachos. They took a while and were almost cold by the time we got them. Not worth the price either as it was a small platter. Then it really got bad. We had to wave the person down as they never came back for our food order. Then they came and after taking an order from 1 of us turned to walk away. We had to stop them to say what about the rest of us. We had burgers, wings and poutines. The order took so long to come and was just as disappointing as the service. Wings were overcooked and crap, burgers the same and the poutines were an insult to the word. Shredded marble cheese should never be used. The service continued to be bad and they never really came by. Always had to call them. When the bill came they even tried charging for an extra poutine which we had to argue about. Definitely never going there again.

I recently visited with my family for we wanted to try this restaurant out for something different then our regular family night dinner out. Boy what a big mistake, we were greeted at door right away but the service OMG so friggen slow. (Zero star) It seemed like only 2 people were working that evening. When we sat down we were asked what to would like to drink but again took forever. No cutlery was given and we had to ask so we could eat once our food was given, (food ok but not the greatest) they spoken very little English and messed up our orders. I had to correct them on numerous occasions. We as a family like to eat out alot but this place unfortunately was not what we expected with their hospitality as we thought it would be. We will not be returning. We will stick with the restaurants we enjoy with A1 service. Later when I came home (2 1/2 hrs) Yes it took that long sitting there and I live about 5 mins from there, I read online it was under New Management. Next time we will goggle before we decide to try a new place. What a waste of my hard earned money. And the Google priced do not match to what we ended up getting. And their menu and spelling errors. This place was a joke.

The wings were so yummy and I ate the whole thing, even though it was quite heavy for one person. The ribs were tender and went well with the sauce. Perfectly cooked and the flavor was amazing.

Im giving 2 stars because I felt bad for the bartenders. Was there yesterday evening for a few hours to support one of thr DJS. They had wonderful Persian music playing. I was not impressed with standing by the bar for a good 10 minutes while other customers were being served that waited after us. There seemed to be a woman manager, she was dressed up and had very short hair. She was directing the bartenders and when I went around closer to get her attention, I let her know that we have been waiting for a good 10 minutes for service. She said ok and walked away. Her bartender took my order, and she went over to him and was upset with him. It seemed like she was upset for him taking my order as he responded back while gesturing to me. It obviously was not a pleasant or respectful conversation. She only tended and focused on certain tables and seemed so miserable. I understand that there has been new management for at least 2 to 3 weeks now...they need to support or train their service better. It is our first and last time there.

Swung by for an early dinner. Got greeted pretty quickly and sat down. Got our drinks very fast and put in our appetizer order and toddlers order. Then things started to go downhill. Spinach dip and toddlers food showed up. Spinach dip tastes fine, very oily and not super hot in the center, stale chips, the bread that came with it was good. Toddlers chicken bites were slightly over cooked, but she didnt care. We placed our order for our entrees.. turkey club and a cheeseburger. It took a pretty long time for them to be ready. Turkey club looked SUPER sad, and not worth the $18, it also had black hair in the sandwich .... We are both brunettes.... Burger tasted a little funny and bread got kinda soggy on the bottom. We did not finish either meal. Server never came back to check on us. We sat there with our plates off to the side and patiently waited for the server while he sat behind the bar playing on his phone. He came back and asked how it was my husband was honest and said not great, and there were hairs in my sandwich. Hes like oh sorry and took it back to the kitchen. Paid our bill and we left. Ive been a regular customer at ten gallon/big Daddys for MANY years, its always been a go to for some good food, cold drinks and great music. Unfortunately this wont be on the list to visit again anytime soon.

Drinks, okay. They gave us 24 dollar fajitas, chicken, and lettuce. But not tortillias. When asked, they looked confused and then gave us 1 tortilla shell and tiny bread triangles. Then he told me no payback as it only comes with 1 tortilla shell!! So a small chicken plate and nothing else. No sour cream and 1 tortilla shell. Instead, he gave me no food and 4 drink shots. Did not give my money back. Only drink shots. I went hungry. Rip off. Who does that?!

There are lots of reviews about how great this place is but I think it has gone downhill over the last year. The place feels dark and dirty, bathrooms were disgusting, service was poor and food quality was terrible. Cheeseburger poutine was laughable but my wrap was decent. Do not bother going here.

I was here on august 18th, from 12-1am, and every single time I ve come here before that, I ve had a wonderful experience. However, I don t appreciate the male bartender thinking he had the right to stroke my face while I was sitting at the bar. After I naturally acted upset, he tried to again. And laughed about it. My friend also witnessed this. He proceeded to act offended, like we had done something wrong. It s not okay for anybody to touch someone like that in a professional setting. Would he have done that to a guy? No. I hate to even write this, but I could never imagine feeling comfortable enough to touch someone in that manner in the customer service industry. I shouldn t be made to feel uncomfortable and then ridiculed for having a natural human reaction. This was a stranger, and it was also not okay or professional. I ve always loved this bar because it tends to have a little less chaos then the Main Street hot spots, but this was just upsetting.

Very friendly staff, food was well prepared and brought out in a timely manner. Lots of tvs to watch the game and refreshing cold beers to relax the mind and body. We were graced with a great live band belting out some classic rock hits. Was our first time and will be coming again for sure.

July, 2023. around 11am/noon. W missed our train at the tannery and decided to go grab a cocktail while we waitied for the next train to come. We walked in and every patron and staff member just stared at us. Place went silent and heads turned. Like an old west movie. It was so weird and unsettling. Not a friendly environment from the start. We waited by the door for a good 5 minutes in case there was someome who was seating people. After being ignored by the two female bartenders we eventually sat ourselves, avoiding sitting near the bar because everyone looked upset that we were there. I guess they were all regulars? Another 15 minutes go by and we are still ignored by all the staff. Finally a waitress/server comes to our table, drops a dirty menu with the specials and walks away before we can even ask for water. Waited another 5/10 minutes for her to come back, ordered one mixed drink and one beer and immediately asked for the bill to go with it. Drinks came, bill took another 20 minutes after that. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. This place is terrible. If you want to have a wild and stupid story to tell people, by all means, check it out.

This was my 3rd or 4th time at this place and I enjoyed the Band playing in all times I have been here. Highly recommend this olace if you are into Live Band. The food is good too. I had their Classic Burger last time and it was excellent just the way Iiked it. Updated to a 1 star. Called and got told off by a male with a accent The service when there was amazing. ( girl behind the bar) Here is why Im only giving 3 stars. I ordered 2 beef dips to go and a side gravy. When I got home they did not put the au jus with my food. I tried to call that night but then phone lines were not working. I caller the next day. First I was told it was put in the bag. He watched them do it. Obviously not true. Then he tells me of that must of been the gravy. The only resolutions offerd was. Free au just next time ( it should come with it anyways). $2 off my next bill. Im sorry but that is not enough. They forgot the au jus with a beef dip. Thats like selling a pizza and forgetting the cheese. I will not return.

My first and last visit to this restaurant was marred by a lack of respect for customers. Not only were we unexpectedly charged a $10 entrance fee per person, but the owners arbitrary enforcement and rude response when questioned left a lasting negative impression.

Me and my husband wanted to go for a fun night out but was ruined when he charged us a fee at the door of $10 per person. The thing is, the man only charged US at the door while allegedly charged everyone else on the bill. When we went to speak to him, he shouted at us and grabbed my husbands hand tightly. He is very unprofessional and unfair to everyone.

Had an amazing night at Ten Gallon! Great stage for performing, music was terrific all night, staff and patrons all seemed to be having a great time! Thanks!!

Every time I order food it takes almost an hour for just a burger. The female manger/bartender was very rude and the staff are aswell. Atmosphere I gave a 2 star because its nice to see bands play again in that building but before ten gallon the original owners had better service and they put on awesome shows with incredible bands and new musicians but its not worth my time and money to go back to this Ten Gallon establishment especially under the management they have. Dont waste your money here

I have never ate at this place before, So I cant comment. I can say that there are a lot of shady characters at this location on the weekend. Arash, the bartender is not very respectful of peoples personal spaces! I was personally stopped by the back of my coat by this individual, upon entering and walking past him, as he called out to me, asking where I was walking to.. the restroom! Stopping me from walking as he held on to my coat to ask me my name. Not hospitable at all! Needs to get better training in dealing with customer service! The black bartender girl dresses in extremely tight pants, and stares at her customers, not very professional attire for a bar and grill where kids go. I wouldnt bring my kids there!

0215 - read the heath inspection reports - shut this place down 07/06 - Came for dinner to try it again, and this place has changed. The atmosphere and the music don t mesh. Asked for the ballgame to be put on a closer TV, and was told the owners don t allow it. Instead I have to watch their promotional video and listen to the waitress, who just ended her shift, play music that sucked. Now it was Karaoke night, and the wannabes started early. LOL. Plus we had flies and fruit flies flying around - gross. Food was ok - waiter tried hard but didn t ask about choice of sides, offer any specials, and didn t clear our table until asked. I understand you are trying to change this establishment. Just a suggestion but rebrand and totally renovate it to what you want it to be. Again, it doesn t mesh. Very sad experience and won t be back. 05/07 thanks for but have found another restaurant since you closed down and really like it but will try your restaurant again soon maybe. Very disappointed they are not open for brunch on the weekend anymore. Besides that the new owners are definitely trying to improve the appearance, but no brunch and no 1/2 price apps during the week will make us go elsewhere most of the time.

Server too busy talking to friends at the bar. Went Dec 31st at 3 was told to sit anywhere no one ever came over to give a menu or take drink orders waited 10 mins and left not busy at all server just hanging out with her friends.

We stopped by for our friends 50th surprise party at this establishment and we had our 8yesr old son who is extremely well behaved with us. My husband overheard the bar tenders b*tching about his presence. Very unprofessional and very disrespectful.

The food is ok, pricey vs quality is just ok. Not the best but ok. Service, love them there. Wish they had more happening but love to play darts here. Can get very quiet but go when they have karaoke or a band and its better.

I am saddened to be editing my 5 star review. I use to be a regular patron for a few months, until I started feeling some vibes were off in the atmosphere. I am disappointed to find out that many of my favorite past employees are now gone, but I am shocked to say the least, that past employees are barred from entering, or at the very least- being served. I have second handedly witnessed one similar incident and immediately decided I will not be returning. I will miss some of the shows, but I will not miss the outrageous behavior by management.

The only reason Im giving 3 stars is because of the hard working serving staff. I was not impressed with the management of the operations. The debits were down and it wasnt communicated upon entry, there were no temporary options for card detail retention. We had to retrive cash to pay as an additional 20 minutes travel to the end of our service, or to come back at a later time to pay. The waiting staff was under staffed. Customers were blocking the door way smoking cigarettes. The service staff is fantastic and can clearly operate under high pressure, but the management team do not know how to orientate their business.

Used to be an employee. Management doesnt care about the staff. Will lie to the owners to make themselves look good. Staff are rude and contempt. Will close at any time so they can go drink at other bars. Even before 11pm. Thats if they arent drunk behind the bar. I would never suggest people go here. Which is a crying shame because I loved the place like it was my second home. Stay away! It is rotten.

Went to Ten Gallon for an event - the service was the worst service I have ever had. I understand they were very understaffed (especially for an event where they knew they would be packed - they should have staffed accordingly), but the staff were extremely rude. We sat for over an hour and not a single person came to our table to take our order. At that point we were told out table had been reserved and were forced to move tables. The person was not apologetic at all and was very abrupt and rude. We then had to go up to the bar to get a drink and were again spoken to with attitude - not to mention all of our drinks were given to us in red solo cups and they didnt have enough pitchers for us to get a pitcher of beer. We were going to order food but seeing as no one bothered to check on us, we never got a chance to even order. The bathrooms were a mess - toilet paper rolls sitting on top of the toilet and the floor, and paper towel rolls on the soaking wet sink. Just an overall awful experience. If we were not there for the event and to support the event, we would have walked out.

This place has the potential to be amazing. Sadly, its not. We went there with about 15-20 people (more for drinks and a couple of apps) and they had ONE server there, for the entire restaurant! One server to do absolutely everything!! She was run off of her feet and no one came in to help her. The bathroom while fairly clean, smelled like raw sewage! I wouldnt go back. We felt terribly for her. Do BETTER!!

Waited 40 minutes for someone to take our order. It was early evening on st Patricks day and we figured they were busy setting up. Waited another hour for food to arrive, had to bug waiter who was also bartender. He finally checked on food, which had obviously been hastily reheated as plates were hot. Food was mediocre. Had to go to bar again to ask for bill. Will not return.

My friend and I were quite disappointed. We browsed their website prior to deciding on this place. The happy hour had been canceled due to new ownership, and their choice of wine was very limited... only 1 house wine. The food was good. The server was very nice, but we felt rushed as we were asked several times if we needed the bill after we told her we were in no rush and finishing our drinks. The place was empty.

Best spot in Newmarket for food and live music. New ownership/staff are kind, friendly and efficient (so please tip them well) and the patrons are there to have a great time. Great live bands on the weekends. Check it out. You won t be disappointed!

We all know this location has been around a long time. I must say when I saw the new signage go up, I thought something new was happening. There has been a transfer of ownership and the changes are excellent! New lighting, updated menu, great food, and the new Owner/Manager is very experienced in this field. Id definitely give them a try if you havent been lately.

When we were there abt a month ago the waitress wasn t very good! She was too busy talking to her boyfriend or whomever? So we obviously didn t leave a tip. They actually paid for our drink I think? Which was nice of them! Plus The washrooms are dirty they should be more cleaner. I mentioned it to the guy server I m not sure if he understood what I wa trying to say. Then we were there a couple of weeks ago the guy server was excellent and the female server was more tentative. Bc they would like a tip I m sure. Just my2 cents worth. Thanks for your time.

What a nice friendly restaurant with a new menu and management is proper its very clean and all the items are tasty from what we tryed with my family. Our server Sarah was so good with the menu and was checking up on us often making sure everything was perfect. Thank you guys for everything we will be back this week again

Happy to see the location under great management. I m a pub goer but a picky eater and I ve always been more than happy with the food here. Service is exceptional- Ash and Kyle make people feel at home. On top of that 10 G is clean, the pool table is free, and event nights are fun and friendly. This place breathes new life into Main St and not because of the rampant gentrification that is happening. Prices are good and the vibe is very accepting.

I really enjoyed the live music and Setare was a great host whit great personality and smile.

New owner with new immigrant staff and theyre having a really hard time learning English. Horrible service due to lack of understanding English. Ill never be back.

Went here for a comedy night and the service was non-existent, we were there for 2 hours and no one came. We had to get up and ask for service, we ordered fries and it never arrived. Im not sure if this place was just understaffed for the event or what. To top it off, the people working there kept interrupting the main headliner. Just not a great experience at this restaurant.

On the weekend the music , service ,and the food taste was amazing. Our bar tender always was caring . We had a blast .

I just left with a family of seven. The two bartenders that served us, did everything and anything in their power to make sure that our day, meal, and time spent was absolutely perfect. Friendly atmosphere. Great food and again incredible service.

Good service for a corner bar. Inside looks decent but no music in the background so it felt very quiet. Wings are good and chubby, calamari was OK. The food presentation was very rookie, Overall experience was very good. Ill go back for sure.

Bring your own booze when you come here. I wish I did. Theyll add on extra beers to your tab. And the beers are already overpriced. EDIT: The bartender who ripped me off didnt even know what a Pabst is.

My other half and I did a random pick for a nice place to have Lunch and this was the place. As a food critique I look for many things while I am visiting an establishment. I look for how clean the place is, what menu items they have and so on and so forth. My first impression of this place was not by being greeted by the sever but being shouted at over her social gathering at the bar to sit anywhere. The booth we sat in was a tight squeeze for someone that has breasts but was glad the table was easily movable. The window Fram was Extremely diry and didnt look like it was cleaned in months. The menu at this place is standard bar food and at the bottom of the menu they had an all day breakfast and that is what we ordered because honestly its hard to mess that up. HOWEVER the wait time was really long the presentation of over east eggs with sausage. This was to come with homefries but they didnt have any so they substituted them with sweet potato fries. I examined the sausages very carefully and it was a good thing I did because they where Raw and undercooked and to top it all off they had White Mold on them. We brought this to the servers attention and she was able to have my food taken off my bill. The last thing I did was to check the rest rooms. I cant speak on the mens room for this place but the ladies room was unclean there was only 1 roll of toilet paper in the whole restroom of 4 stalls. It was just flat out nasty. After sampling the breakfast my husband and I have been Very sick with FOOD POISONING. My recommendation for this place is to 1. Bring your own toilet paper because there more then likely will not have any And 2. Stear clear of this place unless you enjoy vomiting for a few days after eating here I give this place a very Stonge 0/10 and I very much do not recommend. Save yourself the hassle.

I did celebrate my husband s birthday at this amazing bar everything was seriously perfect ,the atmosphere,service,music and food .thanks for lovely night you made for us and I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone and of course will come again .

Cosy and nice family oriented club for dancing and chilling . Service is good and everyone has great attitude. We mostly go here on the nights when they have DJ or live music. Food

What happened to their food? Ordered here semi-regularly (few times per year). Was extremely disappointed with how everything I ordered changed. They used to have really good bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, and their clubhouse was generally pretty fresh. What I got were the skinniest little jalapeno poppers and a clubhouse that tasted like month old turkey on the stalest/chewiest white bread you can get. Sad to see another pub cut corners on their food.

Went looking for the perfect burger. This place does an excellent job. Hand made from real beef .Swiss mushroom burger could have had a few more mushrooms. Would I go back yes . Better than a few of the other burger placed in town.

My friend and I wanted to try a new restaurant (for us) for our monthly lunch get together. Ten Gallon Bar & Grill did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend trying this place out. Great food and wonderful service. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Chef/cook came out to our table to inquire if we were pleased with our meal. This was a thoughtful and unexpected gesture. Would recommend trying the poutine entrees. We had the pulled pork poutine and the buffalo chicken poutine. Both were delicious and filling. Will definitely be back and recommend this place to our friends. Well done Ten Gallon Bar & Grill.

Food was very good. We watched band played and staff are friendly. Me and my amigas was our 2nd time coming. Its a good place to experience live bands playing. Last night was Hard Rock experience.

Best thing about this place is the host Lish. The food was nothing great, many better places down the street for food. Atmosphere is a little ruined with more than 10 TVs that are on a loop advertising their food (which is lame)

It was not too busy yet early Friday evening. Its a typical bar and grill. Food was good.drinks good. Music was good not too loud. I know later they held speciality event. Persian Night. Live music and dancing.

Friendly staff

This is a very down to earth bar. We came here for their happy hour and had a great time. You cant really find $4 beers and half priced apps anymore! The house lager & ceasar is actually very delicious and goes great along side a $1 game of pool. Want to spend some time with some friends and not break the bank? This is THE PLACE!

Their regular day bartender, extremely popular with all the customers, has decided to explore a different field for work. So she gave the owners 2 months notice!! Would be very appreciated by any other business. But these owners responded by telling her she will be replaced in 5 days! How can you treat long time dependable employees this way? Is there not a minimum time of notice you have to give employees before they are let go? To just call someone at home and say youre finished in 5 days, with no reason given, is just morally wrong. There is more and more evidence that this bar is just being used as a tax write off, there is no real effort being made to lure new customers or improve the business model. Its just a matter of time!

I arrived on a Wednesday at two pm. I was the only one at a table. At least ten at bar, all men but one lady came in later. I ordered a sandwich and waited 17 minutes before I asked the girl how much longer and she said whenever it s ready . She went to kitchen and came right away with it. The fries were cold so it must have been sitting in kitchen a long time. I asked for coffee and she never did bring it. This girl never came back to my table to see if I wanted anything else. She was too busy looking after the guys at bar. She said the F word to the guys five times and referred to their Dick many times with one of the guys answering that she would love his D . Disgusting conversation. I had to go to bar to ask for my bill. She brought it over and I told her there was no way I was tipping her for the bad service. She took my charge receipt and squeezed it up in her hand. I said I wanted my receipt so she threw it down. I went into this restaurant to check it out as I was meeting eight girls for a Sunday dinner and thought it might be nice to try the restaurant out. From reading a couple of these reviews it seems like the manager doesn t care much if customers are being treated rudely. Can t see them being in business very long as you just can t depend on the Bar guys to keep the doors open. I believe my waitress was Melissa but I m not 100% if I remembered it right but it did start with an M . Terrible experience.

I was there during happy hour. The service was fine, beer cold but the place has a dirty, sticky feel to it. I wont be back.

Our server was patient and very friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant. The food was good, though my Liver portion was a little small and overdone. The rest of the orders were great.
