Everything was low quality, super oily, pork kebab full of fat, chicken kebab dry with no flavor.

Lunch was quite good but was only look warm.

There is no better place to have Greek food in Newmarket than Aurora. The tzatziki is delicious. Service is always amazing.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this restaurant. The service was atrocious, and the restaurant and cutlery were filthy. The management was very disregarded when our concerns were brought to there attention, and the wait for our food was unbearably long. When the food finally arrived, it was undercooked and inedible. This place was an utter disaster from start to finish. I would strongly advise everyone to avoid this restaurant. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I just bought chicken Slovaki for 30$ with tip for a reg and I got 4 small pieces of chicken, that taste like trash. I get it Greek food isn t flavorful whatsoever but at least put something in it. The rice was bland the potatoes were a disappointment. HONESTLY you better off going to jimmy the Greek for most cost effective meal and way better portion. I could make Greek food with ease but it seems to me these guys can t. I throw it in the garbage and decide to make my own food instead. Don t response to my review with some generic apologies, I couldn t care for your PR when the food is straight bad and overpriced.

Overpriced. Small portion. $25 for a salad and it doesnt even come with tzatziki. This is a greek restaurant. How do you serve chicken without tzatziki. Disappointed and waste of money. Let me add .. super dry chicken that has been clearly re-heated. I threw my lunch directly in the garbage. What a shame.

1 of the worst greek food experiences ever. Pork souvlaki tasted shwarma like (not a fan). Chicken souvlaki was dry. French fries were nothing special. Roast potatoes were boiled. Greek salad was small & way over priced. Find another place in Newmarket to eat greek food!

Astoria one of my fave Greek restaurants, the ambiance was quiet, cozy decor. The food was filling, temperature of the food was hot which i liked, the prices were reasonable with the portions and quality of the dishes, service was excellent.

Can t believe we didn t try this place before ! Thank you for such a great meal finally Greek food that tastes great! We did take out for four of us paid about $120. We ordered the small size and when we saw the containers thought they seemed a little too small but nope they actually pack them up. Haven t had great Greek food like this since back in the 90s on the Danforth . This will be our new go to place !

We order takeout for the first time from Astoria. I was shocked at what little food was actually delivered. Two beef dinners, and there was 6 to 7 pieces of beef and half of them were quite fatty. We ordered dinner for six. We paid $180 for six people and I wouldn t order from there again. Yes there was lots of rice and potatoes but very little chicken pork and beef. It s almost as if we only got one serving of each.

Always order take out. Food is always ready on time, packed well and never wrong.

The Kebabs and Greek salad were good, but really - green beans as roasted vegetables - thats a low for me when my son got takeout we were even more disappointed with the portion sizes...

Been here twice and both times the waitress was nice but the service was veryslow even though there were only a few other people in the restaurant. Food is ok, the chicken and rice were good but I didn t enjoy the potatoes and the greek fries were good on the top but really soggy on the bottom so couldn t finish them. Overall I think it s a little too pricey for the quality and service, likely won t go back.

This place has gone downhill. Portions are smaller than ever, and prices are extraordinarily high for run-of-the-mill Greek food. It used to be one of our favorite places, but this location doesnt get it.

Horrible service!! We have been going to Astoria chain for years. This location has always given us awful service. Our appetizers and kids food was brought to the table and we waited an hour to get our main course which we had to take home as everyone one else was finished eating already. When asked to speak to the manager their excuse was there was a lot of take out, however all the other food came. The manager walked away from the table in the middle of the conversation. We also got to the restaurant at 5:40pm and no other table was seated. We will not be going back to this location again.

Lamb souvlaki was really good unfortunately the sides were flavorless. I ordered the large but it didnt feel like a large. Its a little pricey to top it all off.

Very bad experience, for the valentines night we reserved a table for our family. Three of us; me , my husband and our son. It took so long to get our plates and they forgot our son s plate( a 7years old boy) we wait for almost 15 minutes nothing happened, after I went to complain they noticed they have again forgot to put the order to the kitchen. After 20 minutes we had all three plates but my husband s dish which was beef souvlaki was very cold. Guess what the manager didn t even apologize, she came to our table after long time and asked what happened? And after we described she said oh then you don t want to pay?! We didn t even touch our food. She didn t even mention sorry We are super disappointed and won t come back.

Always the best restaurant for the price! Staff is friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about the menu which you do not see often! Hats off to the chef for the food is always piping hot, flavourful and one of the most generous portions for the value! Visited this evening on Valentines Day and the restaurant was busy. Our server was amazing, she knew all the menu items, served Saganaki with flair! Our drinks were always refilled, our food was beyond amazing! Thank you so much to our young waitress for your patience of our choices of the menu and your overall service! You made us feel welcome!! I can not recommend this restaurant enough ! A++

Tasty Greek Food for a reasonable price.

If you are looking for a food-court quality/price, this is not the place. A pork souvlaki dinner for $25 is a bit pricy, but it looks like the food is actually prepared and not just pre-cooked like in food courts. I ordered the pork souvlaki dinner. It came with a huge salad, enough rice, and a spoon of Tzatziki (Id expect a better presentation for the Tzatziki).. The pork was a bit too marinated for my taste (maybe too long in the sauce), but its OK. As a one time experience only, it was decent. Service was good; waitress was friendly.

The restaurant itself was exceptionally clean. Our server was friendly. Food was okay, but overall bland. The Tzatziki was also way off. I couldnt put my finger on it.. it either wasn t fresh or maybe just under seasoned. Overall, okay experience.

A great place with great food!

Despite the dining room being empty, the service and food quality was far, far below the incredible fare and service Im used to at The Astoria on The Danforth. Its taken three bad experiences to give this outlet of one of my absolutely favourite restaurants the review the Newmarket abomination of Astoria truly deserves. (This last and final time) Rather than seat our party of 3 at a single table we were placed at two tables set up for six (3 chairs side by side) one of which was wobbly. When we moved to a single table, we were chastised by the person impersonating a waitress for not sitting at The Bigger Table that she suggested. The service was miserable. I ordered saganaki, which was ignited behind me and close enough to me that it frizzed my hair. The time between appetizers and the main course was half an hour and when it came, the lamb I ordered was over cooked. By that time we felt full and left two thirds of the meals to be thrown away. Drinks were taken away for refill that were still half full. But this was almost expected, as on previous visits Id been served salads with the produce labels still on the tomatoes at this sorry excuse for an Astoria restaurant. I could go on, but will conclude with my VERY strong suggestion that you reconsider and go elsewhere. That is unless you dont mind dining surrounded by people who have settled for mediocrity. You really deserve better. There are many terrific Greek restaurants in the area and if you feel that you absolutely must have Astoria, I would have normally suggested that you drive to Toronto for the real deal, however I havent been there in years and fear that this outlet may be aping the possible decline of the original on the Danforth.

Looks cheap, its overpriced and food not like before

For the price, you would expect the chicken to not be drier than the Sahara desert. Disappointed.

Had dinner at the Newmarket Astoria location and it didnt disappoint. The pork souvlaki was tender and the Greek salad was fresh. Had a wonderful server named Alexis. She was very attentive without being overbearing. Will visit again soon.

Food was terrible, service was very slow. Charged me extra on my bill, I will not be going back as well as my 5 girlfriends who also had issues with their meals. Sorry you just lost 5 customer... advice to you is change management or send your staff to culinary school! Food

The food was awful the menu seemed straightforward*. We ordered the sandwich wrap that comes with a side choice of fries or rice or add a salad for $4.99. I ordered the wrap. The waitress asked if I wanted fries rice or a salad. I asked what does the meal include she replied fries rice / salad. When my bill came there was a $3.99 charge. I asked why I was charged for the salad she said my side was substituted with the salad. I then asked well why I didn t get a side if I paid for the adding the salad she replied the menu was a bit confusing. I wouldnt recommend the chicken pita sandwich. The chicken pieces were too large for the pita and the sauce was very garlicky. It took over 1 hour to get our food.

Food was horrible. I took 1 bite and left the whole pita sandwich. Fries taste like fish. Same oil ! Not sure if it was the pita or tzatziki that smelled and taste like a dirty dish rag. Horrible!! I ve eaten in many Greek restaurants and love chicken pita wraps. Not sure why this one was sooo off. Restaurant needs a good washing. Washrooms have grimy oily feeling. Waitress was a gem! Lovely girl!

At great restaurant with great service!

Decided to come here and someone told us it wasn t good. We went anyway. Fried calamari were over cooked in old oil. We told the waitress and she said she would tell the cook nobody came out to apologize. Chicken was dry, veggies were good and so were the potatoes. Rice wasn t the greatest either. I was disappointed and expected better. How can you go wrong with Greek food? To be honest I ve gone to many others and food was incredible we took friends out for dinner, not good at all. Danforth location is much better!

Over Priced, Soggy, Old Food! The calamari tasted old and rubbery and the oil it was fried in was old. The tzatziki tasted moldy and super old, you can taste the mold. The rice might have sat in its sauce for days, it was super soggy. And for 4 pieces of chicken, I could have bought an entire chicken! This place / location just needs to close down - DO NOT GO!

Ordered from here tonight. Paid $80.00 for two meals. Ordered a Greek salad with chicken and pork along with lamb souvlaki dinner. Salad was fairly small. 5 small pieces of lamb with small portion of veg and potatoes with a small salad. Food was decent but extremely pricey for the amount of food you receive. I don t eat take out often and wanted something yummy and couldn t help but feel ripped off. I feel for the prices they charge - the portion size should be bigger.

So disappointing. Astoria used to be my favourite go-to, but in the last few years they have continuously messed up my orders to the point where I stopped ordering for over a year. I tried again for the first time today, and of course I received the wrong items, and my calamari was cold and soggy. Reading the other reviews, it seems like this is a regular occurrence. Sad to see it go so downhill.

I come here decently frequently, usually always get the chicken souvlaki pita wrap with baklava, both taste amazing and doesn t compare to anywhere else I ve been before. The staff are also always friendly which is a plus. I highly recommend this establishment.

My family comes to this location for the last few years. They have many good options veg/non-veg and they are all delicious. The portions you pay for are worth every penny and the quality of the food here is always the best The service is fast, attentive and they always are polite when you order. Highly recommend this place if youre looking for dine-in or take out, you will love the flavours here.

Very disappointed with the quality of food. The chicken souvlaki was disgusting and it didnt taste anything like Greek souvlaki and the lamb chops were even more disgusting. Way over priced for small portions and very poor quality. Not stepping inside this restaurant ever again.

Had a big catering order for my sons birthday this past weekend. Friendly staff and very helpful to make sure I had enough food for almost 70 people! Food was fresh and delicious, our guests LOVED it! So many compliments. Thank you! I will definitely be ordering again! And the owner was SO nice! We recommend 100%

We ordered chicken souvlaki on a pita, pork souvlaki on a pita and a fried calamari appetizer for take-out. I dont know if its because it was take out but the chicken souvlaki was terribly dry, the pork souvlaki was semi dry and the fried calamari tastes worse than the frozen ones you buy and heat up in the toaster oven. The tzatziki was good but thats about all that was good. Ive eaten at Astoria on the Danforth and this location should not be called Astoria.

I wouldnt go there ever again. Especially not for their $15 Greek salad that was sitting there for a while before being brought to our table with soggy with rotten lettuce. Nothing was good here.

Everything was perfect! I was there last week with my family and from the smiles on the servers faces to the food that was put on the table was immaculate! I had this one server named Sharry and she made us laugh all night long, she knew her priorities and rolled out the dinner at the perfect time! The chicken and potatoes were definitely my part. I normally love Greek food/Souvlaki so I got a takeout dinner on a whim. I got the Astoria s Famous Souvlaki (reg. size, pork). I knew I d made a mistake when it was ready in <10 minutes. It was surprisingly small for the price. The 1 skewer of pork was extremely fatty & overcooked/burnt/dry. The rice & potatoes were just okay. The pre-made salad was just okay too. I was expecting fresh for the price. So very disappointing for almost $30. Won t be back.

Slowest service I ve ever had. Ordered take out at 5:11pm and finally got it at 5:59pm. Would have been faster to dine in, eat and leave as the dine in was about 1/4 occupied. Unacceptable in my opinion.

Here for the Tuesday deal: Buy one pork or chicken souvlaki dinner get the second half off. This location is the closest in taste compared to the Greek Town location. Kid-friendliness: They provide booster seats and booster chairs.

Still Amazing Food, but I wish they would use a better delivery service other than Skip the Dishes. Skip the Dishes is the worst of all the services, and constantly makes it impossible for me to order food. I wish they were with Uber Eats. I should have waited for Greek Night dinner special but, I didnt know about it. I ordered and paid for a small chicken souvlaki dinner. It cost $19.99. Way too overpriced for the portion. Plus the food was mediocre. The roast potatoes needed more flavor and the chicken was too dry. I am disappointed. I also was not happy with the service. I had paid for the food and had to wait, that was fine. When I came to pick it up, they wanted to charge me again.

This Astoria deserves 5 stars compared to some other locations. The food is always perfectly cooked and not overdone... portion sizes are big, the order is always ready when we arrive. We travel 20 minutes just to order from this location. If their dining in service was open, the staff is very nice, they get your order correct and quick bringing out the food.

Worst experience today, ordered the beef souvlaki sandwich with the substitute a side greek salad for 1.99 as mentioned in their menu online. When picking it up and paying I noticed my bill was a little more then I thought it was supposed to be so mentioned to the waitress and she said that 1.99 is our dine in menu. So I said well it doesnt say that on your website so she said Ill call my manager, so out came the manager (bald headed guy). I explained myself again as I did to the female waitress and he then proceeded to argue with me over $4. I told him its on your wesite but my phone is in my car, he made me go to my car and get phone to prove to him. When I showed it to him online on my phone he said thats the takeout menu, so I said where does it say its the takeout menu? He then told me he would have to talk to the owner to confirm cause my phone could be presenting the wrong info. I said dont worry about it and walked out the door and he replied back I wont as I was walking out the door. All this for $4. What a joke! 2 weeks ago I took my daughter and her grandmother there and ordered lunch pork souvlaki, it was all fat and burnt. My daughter got the hamburger kids meal and it tasted like a rubber shoe, it was so dry I almost choked. She took a bite and didnt eat the rest. I did not complain that day and even tipped the waitress as she was very nice and not her fault. Thought Id give it another shot today only to be very upset. Ill never come back this Astoria again. Danforth and Sherway Astorias are best! Never any issues and food is always on point!

It s way too pricy for such a small portion of food , if the quality and the quantity of food matched the price , there was no problem , the food is medium to low quality , and I guess because of covid it s way too hard to find fresh food , even if you pay way too much for it ! The potatoes were old , the bread wasn t even garlic bread or buttered bread ! The chicken wasn t that fresh ,.....

It was very good, but now it has gone down hill. Prices are through the roof and portions have gone down. Quality in the ingredients have also gone down. Sadly I will not be returning! I do not recommend

These guys know what they are doing!!! Great deal on the special and unlike every other restaurant out there doing take out their portion sizes are right on...I highly recommend you try them out you will not be disappointed

Astoria is okay but overpriced compared to other restaurants with same price and much better food and amount of it. My salmon with village salad werent great. A tiny piece of salmon and the village salad was 13 dollars I believe and it was basically tomatoes on it, huge one IoI. They didnt offer a smal size for salad so, it doesnt worth it at all ordering it. If you go, try the dinner plate large instead and you can share with someone else.

The most disappointing experience EVER! We ordered calamari and 2 souvlaki on pita but to our surprise the calamari was anything but golden fried as indicated on menu. It was more like charcoal fried because all pieces were black and soggy! The pork souvlaki on pita was the worst we ever tried. The meat was very very tough and tasteless it did not taste like pork souvlaki! This seems to be a poor attempt to imitate Greek cuisine!!

Meat was gristly and fatty and not very good cuts of pork. Most of it was chewed and then spat out. Ordered take out the sticks didnt come with tzatziki. Took a family vote and we will not be returning. Waste of money and everyone is still hungry.

The food here is always top notch. We came in the other day and quickly noticed that it was under staffed. It wasnt that busy but 7-9 tables with families on each are a bit much for 1 person ro mange. Im torn about scoring a 3 star since the food is really good, but slightly over priced.

Tried this place 3 times and all 3 times its absolutely horrid. Food completely flavorless. Lamb totally overcooked each of the 3 times. The Chef needs to be fired. Never again.

Had an early dinner here on Saturday with a friend of mine. I had the large beef souvlaki dinner with potatoes and salad and she had the chicken souvlaki with salad and broccoli. They were so accommodating in allowing us to double the salad instead of choosing another side, which was awesome because the salad was delicious. My beef was cooked perfectly medium rare and my friend said she enjoyed the chicken. I love a good thick tzatziki and theirs was great! We also liked the free refills on soft drinks and the portion sizes are a great bang for your buck. Also, a big thanks to Connor, our server. He was attentive, patient, sweet, and professional, he made the visit even better!

Have been here a few times but I doubt that I will ever go back. Not authentic Greek food but rather a tired menu of souvlaki and potatoes. The food was mediocre and the service was really slow. We sat with no attention for 35 minutes. There are better restaurants in the area. Try something else

Excellent food, quality and quantity is amazing. Service during lunch hour was slow, a crowd of 20 showed up, not enough servers to accommodate, which slowed service for all. Having said that, returned the following day, all was normal and service was excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant to all, superb Greek Food.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Great food and great service. Clearly doing everything they can to help out there community during this difficult time. Handled the whole social distancing thing very professionally even to the point of keying in the final amount and choosing no tip on the credit card terminal so that you didnt have to touch it. I had to request that they added a little extra for themselves as at least a small token of my appreciation for them. Please help to keep them in business during this hard time and help them out too when you can. The meal was wonderfully cooked and a total delight.

Decent food but cant seem to get the order right. Once I was making sure that everything was on the sandwich and got nothing on it. Twice after that they could not get the order right even after I saw the order with my own eyes. Why does it get lost between waitress and kitchen

I ordered take out from Astoria on a Monday for the family of 4 special. 1/2 pork and 1/2 chicken. The pork was totally burnt black and inedible. The chicken was so dried out that We werent able to chew it. The potatoes, rice and salad were for 4, the meat looked like 2 skewers and not for a family of 4 for sure. Which didn t matter since we threw it out anyway. This was very disappointing from a place we frequented often b4 the epidemic. I think the meat was left from before covid forced a shutdown. I will never go to this restaurant again and make sure that my family and friends find another place for Greek food. I took a pic but there s no place to include it. It looks like pieces of black shoe leather Don t waste your money

First time ordering here. Grilled calamari and pork souvlaki dinner were so delicious. Tender and well seasoned. Will be back to dine in when we can!

The calamari didnt have any taste and not well cooked, it was waste of money

Today the food was not good. The meat was over over cook the salad was too sour the service was good everything else was not we did not enjoy our dinner.

Honestly the BEST. Unbelievable tzatziki, amazing potatos. Some people review about food not being good, I dont know what theyre talking about. And unless they poisoned you you shouldnt be leaving 1 star reviews (a lot of them are for minor issues). Do yourself a favour and give this place a try! I wanna swim in that tzatziki!

You guys made the best home-made hummus and tzatziki sauce I highly recommend everyone to get these skewers for your party. Cause you will get lots of compliments. I ordered 5 pork, 5 beef, 5 chicken and 5 veggies skewers. Comes with lots of hummus and tzatziki sauces

Absolutely delicious food! Tzatziki was awesome, lots of garlic! Only downside was it was a bit pricey for the portion size but other than that, it was a great meal!

Portions are decent. Rice & potatoes were good so as salad but chicken wasn t tasty! It cooked well but lack of flavor ( if I close my eyes and eat it I wouldn t know it s chicken souvlaki) and tzatziki sauce was over power with garlic. Had a meal here before covid and it was really good.I don t know what happen. Maybe I picked the wrong night

The employees were very friendly and the food cooked to perfection. My wife and I normally dread takeout in general because of mistakes happening all the time with other restaurants. However, Astoria in Newmarket got our entire order correct, the portions were plentiful and everything so delicious. Well definitely be ordering from your restaurant again.

Food and service were outstanding. Sherry was very sweet. Our compliments to the chef, the food was delicious. Great to have the lamb back.
