115 Prospect St, Newmarket, ON L3Y 3T3, Canada
Located near the heart of downtown Newmarket, The Crow's Nest is an authentic British pub that first opened it's doors in 1999, making it one of the longest continually open pubs in Newmarket. We offer a wide selection of traditional pub grub including fish & chips, pies and bangers and mash, as well as a range of burgers, sandwiches and specialties from around the world. Our bar is stocked with a wide range of draught and bottled beers from England, Scotland, Ireland and mainland Europe, as well as popular draughts and bottles from across Canada and North America. We have a selection of Red & White wines from Canada, the USA and Australia and have an extensive selection of Single Malts, Scotches and Whiskeys.
Someone here reviewed the Lamb Stew and I am very disappointed because I didn't see it before now and it's SO DELICIOUS!!!! Visit this place and then take a stroll down Maine Street for some good gifts. I'll be coming back to Crows Nest very soon!
“Great Food and Cozy Atmosphere!” I recently visited this restaurant with a group of nine, and despite calling only 30 minutes ahead, the staff graciously accommodated us. The food was excellent, with portions that were just right for one person. I had the pub salad, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The cozy environment made the dining experience even better. They also offer vegetarian meals which is great. Overall, great service and great food! I’ll definitely be returning.
We discovered this little gem of a pub during a day trip north of the GTA. The pub is in a heritage looking brick house right by the river. The inside decor is eclectic and interesting - definitely part of the charm. We had their signature seafood croquettes, which were delicious. For mains we stuck with pub staples, chicken pot pie with fries and fish and chips with onion rings. Everything was on point. Highly recommended, we will be returning next time we're up that way.
Its not a bad pub but its definitely family oriented. The bar is uncomfortable and the single TV is tiny. While the food looks great, the butter chicken was less than mediocre. It might have been my fault for ordering it but it was recommended by the server. Overall not too bad.
Liked the place a lot, the view, location, and the vibe, but food wasn't the best we've seen, or maybe we should have picked smarter. Our server kept forgetting stuff, like drink, napkin, or machine to pay bill, maybe it was a busy shift for weekend? On the other hand, we LOVED the Muskoka beer though! The bathroom was very clean and nice! We'll come back for sure to try more items as it was an awesome location.
Had dinner here two times last week. Food is really solid, their house gravy is a must. I recommend the cottage pie and the beef dip, also the fries were cooked really well.
Crow's Nest is a delightful gem in our town, offering exceptional food and drinks in a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu features a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary dishes, all made with fresh, local ingredients. The nest burger and fish and chips are standout options. The extensive drink selection, including local and international beers, a well-curated wine list, and creative craft cocktails, is equally impressive. The pub’s rustic charm and friendly staff create an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!
I've been coming to the Crows Nest in Newmarket for years, and it never disappoints. The food is always excellent, with a great mix of classic and unique dishes. Their massive selection of pints means there’s always something new to try. Plus, the service is top-notch!
Loved the place and the atmosphere. The food was delicious and the quality was excellent
Went on a Friday night and place was packed. Good. Very loud though, dont think anyone was wearing their hearing aids Food
Roast beef dip was one of the best Ive ever had.
I have been going to the Nest since we moved to Newmarket 20 years ago. Yesterday I tried their new hamburger and it was one of the best Ive ever had. Anywhere. It had a lot of chuck, great flavour and perfectly cooked.
Nice pub. The food was good the server was better. She was fun and efficient. If I had a complaint it would be that its noisy. But it was full even though it was later on a Wednesday Food : 4/5
Love this place! Always great food and service, and their Christmas decorations inside right now are beautiful.
Its always a good, safe bet...its our go-to...staff are amazing...food is great...its has such a mix group...from young families to couples & seniors...you will love it also Kid-friendliness: Yes
Cozy place , nice service and food is not bad. Reasonably priced. Fish tacos were a bit strange - peace of the deep fried coated fish in soft taco. It would be better to take fish n chips instead. But overall food was fine. Parking: There is a free parking lot and usually is not full.
Proper pub!
Great atmosphere, good service highly recommend the corned beef on rye.
Did not have food while there, just had a beer. Had already eaten earlier. I had driven by this place many times, finally stopped to check it out as it looks like an old cottage pub, right up my alley. It opened in 1999, the place doesnt seem to have been updated since then, and the clientele has stayed the same too. Their extensive whiskey collection is not that extensive. Parking: Parking beside pub, across the stream.
Excellent service, Great Food and a Fabulous Space.
Awesome fish n chips!
Beautiful place with a nice atmosphere. Great food and service.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, Very delicious and tasty food specially house made hamburger and French onion soup. Thanks to lovely and kind waiters.
I doubt I can say anything to top other reviews. This place is just really great, fantastic food and great service.
Cozy friendly atmosphere food was wonderful. Definitely will go back!
Thank goodness The Nest survived COVID. I was introduced to Tartan Special and Knockandu way back in early 2001. Now in 2024, their menu is wildly diverse and the quality is amazing. They are very popular so Its a super busy place.
I love everything about this place!! The food has that home cooked taste. Now we go every Sunday!! Food : 5/5
A little overfried calamari, but cozy, Canadian, simple atmosphere. Good service.
Great welcoming place great food
Great atmosphere and delicious food. The low rating was due to a large hair deep fried and attached to several pieces of our calamari appetizer. I understand it can happen but the problem was it looked like they just picked out the clump of hair attached to the calamari and re served us the remainder after bringing it back to the kitchen. Ok, let s say it was a new batch, at least give us half off the price .Im not even asking to remove it from the bill since it was delicious. The restaurant charged us full price. No discount. Most reputable restaurants would definitely take it off the bill completely or at minimum, charge half. Go to the restaurant because it s good food and atmosphere but we won t be returning.
My favorite place for a pint and great home made pub fair!. I dont live in New Markwt but enjoy going, as I know I can sit at the wood and have a nice hour or two to check out of the world! Its history and proven track record say it all!. Put this on your must visit list.
Great staff
Great little hole in the wall.
Weve come here as a family group for dinners often! Cute pub with lots of options and specials for food to choose from, Im glad theyre open on holidays as well.
This is a quant establishment with a real pub feel with extraordinary pub food. I found it by Google. You should find it too. Enjoy. I will be back.
The on-menu items are solid and reliably tasty. Id suggest avoiding the pasta specials as weve tried them a few times and they were underwhelming. Staff are friendly, polite and courteous they do a great job of making you feel at home. Its often quite loud and busy, which I personally enjoy. The sound of people enjoying themselves is nice. Lastly, sticky toffee pudding. Do not share. You will want it all for yourself.
Had late lunch here today with 2 other friend, waitress was rude, I didnt say anything to her since I did not want to be confrontational while I was out with friends, food was ok, I wont go back since I did not like the attitude of the waitress, management needs to be on top of the staff behavior.
Best nachos I ve ever had. Toppings were layered not just laid out on top. Outstanding!!!!
The second time we were having lunch here. While the first time years ago it was nice and cozy this time crowded and loud. The restaurant seems to be a favorite for lunch time menus of adjacent companies. We were lucky to get a table, the Server was quick and friendly. We had fish and chips. Halibut was ok but portion rather small. French fries too soft and not crunchy at all. . After reading all those positive reviews we expected better. Will we come back? Maybe.
The food was great, service was quick and friendly, and the beer was actually cold on tap! Feed 3 with a drink (which we all know drinks arnt cheap anymore) spent 75$ after a generous tip. Will be returning.
Amazing old school pub grub
The Crows Nest is a fantastic pub with an upbeat social atmosphere. Service is superb, and youre never left disappointed with the food. Always a great place to meet with friends or family. Food
We had get-together with family friend and food and drinks and service is best and friendly.
Love the place love the food but ive watched too much bar rescue and gordon ramsay the roof is filled with dust years worth need a up date
I love this place!!! The schnitzel and red cabbage with the delicious perfectly seasoned home fried potatoes are to die for. I had the raspberry cheesecake for dessert and though expensive for the small serving, was an excellent choice. I would love to know what bakery provides this establishment as I no longer live in the area. My mouth is watering as I contemplate returning from London, Ontario. I cant wait until my next visit!
Just had their rib wing combo, and it was probably the best in house smoked ribs Ive had. Fall of the bone, finger licking good!
Lovely pub good service been a few times never disappointed
We recently had a celebration of life for my Dad, a long time patron of the Crows Nest , at the pub. The turn out exceeded our expectations as did the staff(Julie) who looked after us. The food was awesome and the service... outstanding. Dad would have been so pleased to know that everyone had such a good time. Thank you for making his celebration of life a wonderful experience for all who attended! Cheers!
Love this place
Great food and even better atmosphere. If you are in the area it is a must stop location!!!
Fabulous food, friendly staff. Parking: Not alot of spots but you can park on the street Food : 5/5 |
We usually get the haddock & chips to go for family birthday lunches. Never disappointed. Portion size is huge, fish is fresh and the chips are awesome. Servers are always friendly. In the past I have been there for business lunches and work celebrations. Chicken tenders were good as I remember.
Service was fast and friendly. Place was full. Very very noisy. Ordered fish and chips. Portions were very small. Fries tasted like they had been reheated. Dated ordered a Hamburg. 5*.
So unique name, havent tried their food yet though.
Great food!
Food was EXCELLENT, service was really friendly and helpful, establishment was clean, tidy, smelled good, and really busy for a Wednesday lunch. Absolutely will go back. The lamb stew was to die for.
Solid pub fare. Nice place.
First time experience, sat at the patio and it was beautiful, staff was friendly and ownership was extremely thoughtful and accommodating. We had fish and chips and potato skins and everything was amazing, including a home made hot sauce that blew our minds. Hats off to Shane and rest of staff!
We went on a busy evening but the staff was so kind and seated us right away. Our server was really nice and fast with drinks. Our food came out surprisingly quick for how busy they were. I got the lamb stew and could have licked the plate clean! Will definitely go again if we are ever in the area.
Came here on Canada Day with my boyfriend for the first time and the food and service brought us back again today! We aren t from the area at all but like to drive up for our hikes and have decided this is our spot to grab a bite afterwards. Service from the girls today was soooo incredible and had such good conversation as well! The fish & chips are delicious and their hot sauce goes perfect with the chips and our potato skin appetizers. Thanks girls, you were awesome!
Just had a fantastic meal and our server Chelsea was great. Too full for dessert but we will be back :)
Super great spot for family or just for a couple of friends. Free parking right beside, great food and staff. Prices are usual. Highly recommended!
Id go back. Had the portobello mushroom burger and it exceeded expectations. Everyone (it was busy - good sign) was getting the prime rib dinner so I want to go back to try that. Cottage-y UK-y pub interior...tables are a bit close but it was neat and cozy. Definitely recommend. There will be a patio by the river open after construction which should be nice.
Its a good surprise in a residential area! Rustic, cozy and nice vibe. Food is ok, well worth the price!
Almost zero parking, potato skins were not good. Looks interesting on the inside, pub atmosphere.
Great decor, really good food and excellent service. Loved the place! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free was no problem. Food : 5/5 |
The place is a cute spot in newmarket. I love the vibe. The food could be better. Ordered the nest burger. Wasnt good to be honest. The meat was dry and burnt.
A place where every body knows your name fab service - love you guys!!!
Great little pub. The prime rib on Sunday is great.
I asked for Nests hamburger. It was very dry, not much taste, topping was only lettuce and tomatoes. I likely got the wrong order, if not, it was not the one based on the menus. I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free selections were better than average but would have been nice to have a dessert offering. Food
I had the liver and onions which were one of the best Ive tasted in a long time. Kim our server was also very pleasant and attentive.
Food was just like home Loved it Food
Had a great dinner out with my daughter. It was a bit loud for conversation.
Nestled beside a small river with large windows overlooking, this wonderful little pub just exudes the ambiance of an English pub. Welcoming on the outside and cosy on the inside, the servers made it seem easy despite serving two large groups as well as our little table for two and others. The buzz of chatting people and the wonderful bar complete the feeling. Our food and drink arrived promptly. The fish and chips were very acceptable, not heavily battered or oily and the accompanying fries were fine. The coleslaw was not to my liking but meh, if thats all I can complain about then its not worth mentioning.
Great pub
The issue is that I left 4 messages over a 2 day period asking if they wete open on a certain date ...no replies. Very frustrating because Ive been going to the crows nest since the 90s. I was told that they were too busy and couldnt respond. Very poor customer service
Great food, atmosphere and service!!
Best nachos ever.
Awesome location, great food and excellent service. I will definitely be returning to this location when in the area.
Butter tarts are delicious
Frequent visitor when coming to Newmarket. Love the authentic pub atmosphere. This particular time, I did not think the food was up to its usual standard but generally bits really good quality and value.
Nice little pub nestled in the older part of Newmarket. Place is small but they serve guests on two floors; we sat upstairs. Food was good: I had a Pub Salad and Quesadillas, and my friend had French Onion Soup and a salad. Decent beer selection, although its odd that for a Scottish-themed pub they only have one beer from Scotland (Innis & Gunn). Service was very accommodating when we asked to switch tables to a quieter section of the floor (we were initially seated right next to a large birthday party). Id go back if in the area.
This a quaint pub in Newmarket. The menu is not extensive (just one page) but what they serve is delicious. Service is friendly and quick. The decor is a fairly authentic British-style pub.
The Crows Nest is a lovely place for me and my girl friends to stop for a delicious lunch and catch up. We try to meet every six weeks or so. I am now taking my husband there for lunches because they have the best fish in town. Kid-friendliness: The Crows Nest has many families with there children there for dinner. We found it warm and friendly.
I love this place and have returned many times. Tried the rib special on a Saturday and it was great. Goose number of beers on tap. Fun old British pub style.
Seems to be a good place to go if youre a regular but not so much for anyone else
This meal was back in 2021 but I remember the food being so tasty and our server was so welcoming. Lovely ambiance - I need to go again soon!
Great food and friendly staff...in a word excellent
We just spent our evening here. This is super cozy place with very high quality beer and food, Also the staff were very friendly and nice people. It was totally a good experience. Definitely gonna go to this place more often.
The Crows Nest is such an amazing place. Great food, amazing service and wonderful atmosphere
Drove from Barrie to see a play and decided to try out this place and was very pleased. The only slight disappointment was that we had made reservations and asked to be seated near the fireplace. When we were seated at the table, I asked if they would be able to turn on the fireplace and was informed that it had not been working all winter, so I was not sure why they did not tell me that when I reserved that specific table in front of the fireplace. Beyond that, the entire experience was perfect. The ambiance of this place was sweet, cozy and welcoming. We started out with the clam chowder soup which was thick and delicious. My husband had the veal schitzel and I had the liver. Both dishes were so good!!! Everything was home made and nothing came out of a freezer bag. We ended our dinner with their amazing pecan tart......Mmmmmm. Our server was Laken, who was fabulous. She was attentive and very personable. We would definitely make the drive back up from Barrie to dine here again. As we were making our way back to the car, the manager came after us and had found my bracelet that had fallen off my wrist. So great that he did that!!! Totally worth it. Now, all they have to do is open a location in Barrie.
Love this place! Great food, staff are always friendly.
What a cool place! The menu is a bit limited but everything sounded great and they had daily specials as well. Our food was tasty and the server was super nice. Definitely worth checking out, I can see why people keep coming back to this one.
Everything was great - server did a wonderful job. We had four people - she remembered details of each order and was very friendly. Food was also very good and the atmosphere is of a truly pub-like, not franchise roadhouse pub-like. We had two beers and an entree each and we were between 30-40 dollars each
Just a really nice place to have a meal Service was fantastic. Food was great. Food
What a great experience, we were a group of 12, mostly seperate cheques. Pub grub, not a large menu but there was specials too. Server Chelsea did a great job getting drinks and appies, then mains. Quick and orderly service, food came out hot. Everyones plate looked terrific, clam chowder, fish and chips, western sandwich, burgers, quiche, even French toast. No food left on any of the plates. They have been here a long time, people keep coming back, I will too.
Made a reservation at Crow s Nest on a Sunday to enjoy their Prime Rib special it was very tasty!! Super quick service, fairly priced and all of the food came out warm and delicious. I really enjoyed the butter tart for dessert from a local bakery; we love that they support local We will definitely be coming back to try out some of their other dishes!
Nice little place. Like the Irish pub style look. Had lunch here again totally enjoyed it. Parking: They have their own parking lot next door to the pub just across the little river that traverses the property. Wheelchair accessibility: Very flat has a wheelchair washroom same level as dining drinking area. Main bathrooms are downstairs
The food and the people were great ,i will definitely tell friends and family to go check this place out it they are ever out there by FAIRY LAKE.
A truly pleasant venue with a great atmosphere and friendly staff
I got takeout fish & chips they grill an batter halibut and haddock. My one son said he really enjoyed the fries. Koodos, extremely pleased with the service as well friendly waitress Julianna who took our order over the phone Parking: I believe there is a 3 hour time limit on the street if there wasnt enough parking in there lot. There parking lot might be a bit small, but there in an old part of town. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp leading to the front door
Crows Nest has been in Newmarket for a very long time because its a great pub/restaurant for friends and family dinners or drinks with friends. So I cant rate the food because we just had drinks.
Seen some great reviews and always meant to go but didn t make it till recently. So glad I did! Food was great and such friendly service. I ve tried livers and onions, not something I usually order in a pub but I had a craving. It was so good! Then finished off with their chocolate cake. All I have to say about that is wow . Will definitely be going back just for the cake alone! A must try if you have a sweet tooth and love chocolate!
Great atmosphere. I walked in here because of the reviews so I hope this helps you make your decision. Food was delicious and so was the beer. I met the owner, Shane, and he gave me all the right recommendations for food and drink. Great guy and great place. Food
We come from Toronto to eat here. Love the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff and the food is fantastic.
My first time here, the food was great, they have big portions and service was really good.
always feel welcomed
Friendly service and nice ambience. Patio outback is small but very cute and peaceful. Beer selection is extensive.
Reminded me of pubs back in north England. Food was spot on.
Terrible service that killed everything else. Food is basic but we knew that beforehand. We came for the patio view and more than 30 minutes wait to get our orders in because all 5 servers were too busy catching up with one another at the bar since it wasn t at all busy. Will never return, go try someplace else or come an hour prior to getting hungry or if you enjoy waiting.
Unfortunately, the day we chose to dine there, they featured an indoor waterfall. Their A/C unit sprang a leak. Despite having to dodge the waterfalls to get to our table and the high indoor humidity, the place was packed. The upstairs was closed, and the food was still excellent and filling. Even the nay-sayer of our group liked his meal, and that speaks volumes.
First visit was stellar. Obvious the food is scratch made and not only good, but reasonably priced. Draught was fresh and the service was stellar! - will be frequenting again.
Went with a buddy for an early dinner on a Monday evening and the place was pretty busy - always a good sign. The waiter was friendly, the drinks were cold and plentiful, and the corned beef with a side of Guinness gravy was just what I was looking for.
Great atmosphere and staff. Good can be hit and miss but it depends what you get. I wouldn t come here for wings. They are pretty bad, but I would come here for the bangers and mash.
Stopped in for lunch. Had the feature buffalo chicken wrap with a side caesar salad. It was great. Service as great too!
Great experience every time I come here. Love the atmosphere. My favourite is the beef dip with French onion soup on the side. Best in town
Unexpected delight....
A lot of charm! Great local resteraunt in Aurora. Cheap prices and a lot of European charm. A lot of comfort food, and great variety of pub options from mashed taters and classic soups to pasta and salads! Only criticism is not all the food looked super fresh, but thats what the daily specials are for! (Seriously, consider tightening your menu a tad, some of the food looked like TV dinners, especially the mash and peas covered in gravy).
Absolute fire desserts. Ty m8.
A dinner at the Crows Nest tonight. Well we did plan ahead and made reservations. Suggested on a Friday. Service and food was wonderful. A little more time between the appetizers and main course but it was not a dealbreaker. Been there before and will definitely be back.
In the 20+ years Ive been going here, I have NEVER been disappointed! Great food, friendly staff, great vibe
Great lunch on this holiday Monday! Such lovely service. We had fish tacos and halibut fish & chips!! Sooo good!! A must try! Bravo
Reservation for noon on Labour Day Monday for 11. I was last to arrive for an extended family lunch. My drink order was taken and quickly delivered. Asked in advance about how to handle separate bills and perfectly executed. Great service handled expertly by an experienced server who found the time to take our family photo. Food was delivered for a table of 11 almost all at the same time which would have been difficult but done nicely. Everything looked well plated and everyone was happy with their choices. Bills presently timely and overall a great meal. Lots of variety on the menu and everything looks fresh and appetizing. Great meal!
We have been here a few times while in town and the experience, food and service have always been very good. Everything from the burgers, liver and mash to butter chicken is nice. I definitely see more visits here in the future.
Fabulous all round. We all 17 of us had a blast!!!
Polite friendly staff, both on phone and in person. Delicious yummy food. Outstanding service. Great prices. This was our first visit on Sep 30th. Selina was our server and extremely awesome. Thank you for checking all the boxes. We will be back for sure.
Pub food; friendly atmosphere; fair pricing
This is a cute place with medieval artifacts for decor. Unfortunately, the waitress that took our order (lunch) took a long time to even offer us a drink, and when she did come to us, she was rather moody... did not make me feel welcomed. She was not friendly. The food was good. But that waitress attitude could Improve.
Wow. Its like stepping into a portal to Europe. Food is amazing. People are awesome. I cant wait to come again. I think of this place as the only true pub, this side of the Atlantic.
Very cozy and pleasant place gorgeous staff and tasty food !
Friendly place nice for a meet and greet with friends.
Great place for a home made meal.
A cute nice restaurant with traditional decoration. I definitely will visit again.
Called to make dinner reservations. Was told to hold on. Finally another woman picked and asked why I am calling? I said to make dinner reservation like I told the last person. we re booked bye hung up. I didn t event mention yet when the reservations were even for. So I Called back. Same attitude. Odd way to talk to a customer calling to Make reservations. Food looks good. Unfortunately I ll never know. Rude customer service I experienced
This is a lovely little restaurant with excellent food. The steak and kidney pie is absolutely delicious amongst their other traditional fair. If you are a scotch fan, they have over 30 different types of scotch. The interior is cozy, and quaint and beside the restaurant is a small little river where you can watch the ducks swim around or feed them. ( a few people were taking their bread out and feeding them during their meal.)
Vegetarian options: I didnt have the vegetarian dish so I cannot comment. Food
Feels like home, cozy and warm, where you can have a great meal, drink with friends.
Great place for a meal. Service with a smile & good food too.
This is my first time to visit. It was very crowded, but a pleasant crowd. We did not make a reservation, but the waitress managed to get us a table for four in no time. I was waiting just for a few minutes by the bar when the owner greeted me and asked me if I was being looked after. The food was very good, well presented, very pleasant atmosphere overall.
Great vibes, food, and service here. Absolutely nothing like it
The cottage pie was delicious! Compliments to the chef!
Ok, so we were genuinely excited to go to this British pub, the food was ok, prime rib dinner was $33 not bad but only served with roasted potatoes, peas and jus, the Yorkie was good but honestly missing things like carrots, parsnips etc . My pie (Turkey, ham) was pretty good. Service was good just waited a bit at the end, nice but probably won t rush back
Ive driven by this establishment numerous times but this was the first visit with a coworker. We didnt have reservations, but they accommodated us on a Saturday evening though it was a full house. I ordered the fish tacos & fries with a shirley temple. The three tacos were perfectly cooked however, lacked flavor & the fries were overdone & hard. The shirley temple was bang on! The ambience & service were on point! Vegetarian options: Veggie burger Parking: There is a dedicated parking lot though it fills up quickly.
Good food. Fun place. Fish and chips were good. Spinach dip excellent. Very popular make reservations. Typical Roadhouse style restaurant
really good Pub food There was 7 of us in our group everyone ordered different food items exceeded expectations beef dip / fish and chips / fish tacos daily pub pie all amazing
Great ribs and beer.
Reviews online said they were good with gluten free options, however I pointed out to the server that some of the items mentioned would be impossible to be GF (Beer Braised Beef if I recall?). I ordered the Salmon with lemon-butter sauce as recommended for a celiac. I got a dry piece of salmon with 2 whipped butter packets and a lemon wedge... Nice.
Delicious food, cozy atmosphere..
If youre looking for a Scottish pub....look no further.
Great food, ambience and price.
Soup was full of shells from the shellfish, and the fish and chips were fried in very bad old oil. Service is pleasant for their regular customers but sarcastic and rude for the non regulars.
