Cynthia's Paradise Sushi AYCE in Newmarket

When I ordered I asked for more other vegetables, less broccoli. It was wonderful and delicious, the sauce was better than it has been, more flavourful. The S&S chicken balls were amazing...new batter? Lighter and so crispy. Have been going to Cynthias for years, definitely improved

Update to the update: It s not about the false charge or the money anymore. The fact that after reaching out to a restaurant that we have been going to for the last 5 years just ignores our calls and messages is the real issue. Consider eating at other local spots if you read this. I have some good recommendations for the area if interested. Places we love, owned by families local to the area. In fact I ll review them and give them the ratings they deserve. Happy holidays! Update: Restaurant continues to ignore calls and even acknowledge that the charge was unfair. Employee on the phone very rude. I m actually surprised that they have decided to go this route. We ve been loyal customers for years. This weekend we ordered Cynthia s through Uber Eats. We cancelled our order immediately after it went through because we wanted to change an item, and then reissued the correct order right away. Only one of our orders was delivered. The next day we noticed that we were charged for both orders (two almost exact orders to the same address) Uber Eats said that it s because the restaurant had accepted the first order within the cancellation/grace period, and started to prepare our food , but that we should call them and the restaurant can fix the problem. Which we did, thinking that since we are regular customers who eat in and order take out, they would help us with this issue. Possibly even a credit or gift card. Not the case. We were just met with there s nothing we can do and would not give us anyone in management to talk to. Whoever answered the phone today was very rude. Only answering with a no and refused to let us speak to someone else, which was surprising. It is very unfortunate. We have been patrons of the restaurant for years. Family dinners, family celebrations, work events. It s a shame that a restaurant is willing to lose long time patrons over one mishap with an order. I guess we will find somewhere else to go in the area although we are still hoping this review is seen and the situation is rectified.

I like this place, but today s experience is not what I used to have. The lunch menu is so small, even smaller than usual. And you choose from the pictures and get what you get. Check my photos what they show on the picture and what you get. I think I m not going back to this place.

Great food and service

Sushi was fresh, food was solidly mid-level tier, but its one of the only all you can eat sushi places in New Market (expensive for the mid level quality). You can definitely get much better japanese AYCE sushi in Markham/Richmondhill. Sushi was oversauced to the point where the flavour of the sushi itself was hidden. Presentation was messy and unappealing. Drinks did not look like how it looked like on the menu. I would not come here again.

4 people for $ 197,5 and THE SASHIMI ARE NOT FRESH. My family (4 people) got stomachache after had dinner at this place. And the service is extremely slow. We ordered food on ipad, only 2/3 came, and we ordered 4 miso soup, only 1 came, we asked the server more than 4 times, she said ok will bring the 3 miso for us but NOTHING happened. And the force you to tip 15% . I guess because of the terrible food and services, no people tip them ,that why they force you to tip in a reciept , no option to change tip . DO NOT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU DONT WANT TO GET A STOMACHACHE!

This is a place that has a robot server to deliver the food. The price is reasonable and the food is quite tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful. Its a fun place to go and enjoy a meal.

Friendly service. Cute robot cat server. It didnt come to our table for some reason, but it was entertaining nonetheless. Food is not very good. I tried 3 different sushi rolls, and they all tasted the same. The fish and rice dont taste fresh, and both were mushy. It was novel because of the cat robot, but I wouldnt go here again to eat.

Great value for money. AYCE is the best in the area. A lot of options and all good. Service is not the best but considering they are busy 99% of time, they are indeed good. Kid-friendliness: Yes.kids high chairs are available. Wheelchair accessibility: Looks like they are able to accommodate wheelchairs.

It was my first time going here with my sisters for the AYCE lunch menu. The food was made fresh, hot, and very delicious!! The price was the best I have seen in Newmarket for AYCE ($21.99). The atmosphere of the place was lovely and the robots serving our food topped off the whole experience! The waiters were also very attentive and polite! 10/10 experience :)

Spent 100$ here after tip tonight and it just wasnt worth that. I waited 30 mins for edamame because they kept sending it out on the robot despite the fact that it kept getting taken by other tables. I stopped asking for it after 3 times. I had to call a server over any time i needed something (this includes the water refill) because not a single server checked on our table all night eithout us prompting it. The server that set the table beside ours was clanging the plates around and had no general respect nor awareness for us. We got frustrated and asked for the bill and left. Usually love it here, probably wont come back after today. Tipped out of curtesy, looking back I shouldnt have tipped on service i didnt even receive.

Cynthia s paradise is my all time favourite all you can eat restaurant. They have different varieties of delicious foods my all time favourite is the crab tempura. The waiters are all so polite and well manured, I would definitely recommend coming here and it s a fair price as well

Worst service you can ever find (manager doesn t seem to care as well).

Nothing I had to eat was above average. Table service was quite good although getting a table was slightly awkward considering they didn t have a designated host and it was a busy night. Overall 3/5 experience - nothing special here that I d come back for if I m being honest.

Poor experience. This would be our first time and last time visit to this restaurant. The male staff has no patience to answer questions. Keep complaining while working. Food quality vary. Rolls and shrimp tempura are ok. Sushi has scales on the fish and desserts esp mango pudding is terrible as the texture is liquid and watery.

Updating my review from 6 years ago. Haven t been in many years, but was in the area so thought I would return. Place is packed and is a sister restaurant to the famous Cynthia s Chinese. Food is in line with majority of ayce places, sushi is ok and they have a wide variety of dishes - soups, noodles, fish, chicken, meat and rice. iPad ordering and server doesn t have to confirm order Food comes out quickly, but hot dishes weren t all hot, most were room temperature Biggest downside is overall atmosphere and cleanliness. Had to get cutlery and plates changed out place feels a little dingey. Tables are very close together and tons of large 10+ tables Note that 12% tip is already added to bill If you re looking for a better overall experience and great Chinese food, head over to regular Cynthia s Restaurant!

Service at this place is absolutely very very poor! They are not bringing your order even you order the same item over and over again!! Always more than one items in your list is missing and never gets delivered to the table!! Appetizers are served at last, even if you ask the waitars and request it 1000 times!! Worst of all, tips are mandatory and has already been included to your bill after their terrible service!!

I have been dining here for 9 years. Since they used to sing happy birthday to you themselves, and put plants on the tables to indicate that you had paid. Tonight was a real disappointment. For a slower Thursday evening there really was no excuse. Food was on point but service left little to be desired. Had to ask for beverage refills, flag servers down to input orders, wait an extended time for billing. Our server was just not around. When bill was delivered I paid the bill. Another server (man with black cotton mask and no customer service skills) told me I had to leave the table immediately while my spouse was in the washroom since I had already paid. Made a reservation and said it was a birthday, no mention of it during our time here. It will be a long time before we come back, such a shame this used to be our go to spot It s not as great as it used to be. Plenty of other great options out there. Only has so many 5 star reviews because the restaurant is encouraging guests to leave 5 star reviews for a free pop. Yikes.Tipped 15% because you feel obligated to leave something but receive no service except from the robot. Makes me wonder, who am I tipping? Tips are a reflection of service I think some people have forgotten that.

PLEASE READ THIS WARNING. I have been a longtime customer of Cynthia s. I recently got extreme food poisoning (for 5 days), and contacted the Health Department on this restaurant. Here are a few things you should know on recent reports. 1. Fail to store/handle ice in a sanitary manner 2. Fail to use multi-service articles/equipment/utensils in good repair 3. Fail to maintain hot water sanitizer at 82°C or greater and/or for at least 10 seconds Meaning that their dishwasher is not cleaning utensils, plates, glassware, etc. Therefore, what you use at this restaurant is unsanitary and not cleaned properly. Google Yorksafe (Health Inspection website for York region) and search up this restaurant to see all reports and it will be eye opening. I am extremely disappointed with how this business has conducted themselves and how they are serving customers on dirty dishes, glasses, etc. It is baffling how this restaurant can still run after a Health Inspector has found these issues. Keep this in mind if you decide to go to Cynthia s Paradise AYCE. Do you due diligence.

When first walking into the establishment there was a warm and comforting feeling of the ambiance. The decor in this establishment was very beautiful and welcoming with great lighting and seating arrangements. During my family s visit for a large party of attendees there were efficient and kind servers along with quick service. Once the food came everything tasted great and the variety of options available was unbeatable. A special surprise of the visit was the use of robotic technology for service as well serving other patrons which was cool to witness. I appreciated my visit to this location as well did my family. My personal favorite dishes were the shrimp tempura skewers, teriyaki chicken skewers, sweat potato rolls, tiramisu and cream puffs. Vegetarian options: Sweet potato sushi roll, mixed vegetables, lo mein, French fries Kid-friendliness: Open seating and lots of options for different dietary restrictions

I was recommended Cynthias by my boyfriend and I love it. There is a wide selection of many different dishes and service is pretty fast. The atmosphere is sleek, dark, and unique and the booths are very nice. The food never took no longer then 10 minutes to come and everything seemed very high quality and I have no complaints about the food and experience overall. I will say that for 3 adults to eat it is around $150 including one drink each + tax so its a little expensive. There is lots of interesting dishes on the menu that you can order from the iPad at your table so if you want to try new things Cynthias could be good for that. The miso soup is also very good! I would definitely recommend Cynthias! Vegetarian options: There is a place of just vegatarian options on the menu.

They automatically add in tips as a part of your bill saying its their policy. When I paid my cash he quickly took the receipt so I wouldnt be able to see this. I asked for one after and this is what its showing. Dont go to a place where someone thinks your tipping should be mandatory.

We were very regular for many years up until covid. Staff knew us. In the last few weeks, we have been there 3 times. The last 2 visits weve noticed that the taste of fresh fish is no longer the same - particularly sweet shrimps as well as shrimps being used inside the shrimp dumplings have a very strong taste of ammonia, which means they were previously frozen and just defrosted without any further possible treatment. My diet requires me to eat proteins, so I always enjoy the abundance of raw fish sashimi. My kids love salmon and shrimp sushi, and they both complained on the last 2 visits that the fish is warm and doesnt look as fresh as well as the size is smaller than it used to be as well. I always used to rate everything at 5 stars, but now, since the quality is becoming lower, so is my rating. I really hope, for the sake of the owners and us, customers, that the owners will read this and take it seriously. I will wait for some time before going back and then will give 1 more try, which potentially could be my last, if nothing changes.

The only thing I can complain is they are too busy but worth the wait!

The food options here are good, and the robot that delivers food adds a fun touch to the dining experience. However, I was disappointed to find that there s an extra charge for tea and soft drinks, especially for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. It just doesnt make sense and takes away from the overall value. Additionally, the charge for a 4-year-old kid is too high, which feels unreasonable.

Like the vibe and design, food is good, especially for sushi and seafood lovers. Staff arent very friendly, barely communicating with customers.

..... all I can say is wow. Ive been coming here for so many years now. I have got to say, Im quite the sushi fanatic. I spent my whole life bartending, waitressing, owning bars and restaurants for over 20 years. Ive written a lot of reviews, with only the truth and no bitterness involved. The honestly of my visit. This place is incredible.... not just for the food, but the curtious, thoughtful, and gracious staff. Patrick is one of a kind.....if all in the industry could follow his professional skills. As for all the other staff...efficient and well mannered. I will continue to frequent here for many more years to come. Do go in... tip them well.

The food seemed fresh, but it was extremely bland.

The worst service i have gotten in at any restaurant the person standing at the door older chinse male with black mask really rude person shouldnt be a host should be a washroom cleaner.

I had beef dumplings, and they were absolutely delicious. It might have been because I was tired or stressed at the end of the day, but the flavor really stood out. The cost was just $10, including tax.

Compared to other AYCE restaurants, the food tasted and felt fresher, especially anything with vegetables. Aside from the food, the service was definitely a highlight of our visit. Patrick did an incredible job of ensuring we had everything we needed, our table was cleared, and our food delivered in a prompt manner. I wish I could give zero star. I recently visited Cynthia Paradise Restaurant in New Market, and it was an incredibly disappointing experience due to the poor customer service and rude staff. The waitresss behavior was unacceptable while we were still eating, she started removing food and plates from our table without asking. At one point, she even pulled the order tablet out of my hand, which was shocking and disrespectful. Ive never encountered such an attitude and awful service in any restaurant before. To make matters worse, they automatically added a 15% tip to the bill. This mandatory tip seems to be the reason they dont feel the need to be polite or provide proper service, knowing they will receive a tip regardless of their behavior. This will definitely be my last visit to Cynthia Paradise Restaurant, and I hope others who have had similar experiences will also choose to boycott this place. It s essential to teach them that respectful and professional service is non-negotiable.

Food was good, the female waitresses were amazing, they were attentive and friendly. However, Patrick (either the manager or our server) seemed somewhat unfriendly, and practiced unsanitary work habits several times (coughing, picking his ears, etc).

Best place for sushi

Was craving sushi and stopped by this place while in the area. Was surprised to see Chinese dimsum available on the menu which was pretty decent. Wished there were more raw fish items available on the lunch menu especially on a weekend or holiday menu Atmosphere was quite dark for my taste, would have rather had fullights on at the table Service was great but food quality was average. Better quality found in Scarborough or Markham AYCE places

We used to really love it here. The food was always really good and decent service. Our last visit was horrible. It seems as though the place has really gone downhill. We didn t receive half of the items we ordered, but we were dropped off a bunch of items that weren t even ours. The waiter seemed to be having a very bad day, he was smashing plates down, bringing us the wrong food.. then getting annoyed at us for having the wrong food on our table, like it was our fault. Our other waitress was wonderful though. From what we did receive, it was very good. And they added autograt which is normally fine for me. But for a five top with two children and one senior, along with the terrible service, I feel ripped off. We will not be returning sadly. As a side note, right outside the restaurant there were a bunch of people yelling and it made it very uncomfortable trying to get inside or out. Vibe is just off for me.

Cynthias Sushi used to be the best place around Newmarket to get sushi. However lately its quality and their service has gone downhill. Last time I went to Cynthias was for my birthday in early July this year. The waitresses were okay, they ignored us when we had questions about our order. We didnt receive any of the sushi we ordered until almost the end of our meal (the whole reason you go to a sushi restaurant). Its a fine place to eat, but not for that price and quality.

Please clean your bathrooms . I can tell they haven t been properly cleaned in months. After eating here a few weeks ago.. I headed for the bathroom after my fill of sushi and it wasn t overnight filth.. it was a complete build up of months dirty corners.. webs .. finger prints.. dull If your bathroom is this dirty .. what makes me think the kitchen and food handling is any better.

Cynthia s Paradise was all over pretty good the food including the mini desert was AMAZING and we were out with our family the thing we didn t like was that when the kitchen closes they take away are iPads, (The ones witch we order on) so the lady ( named Yuki ) just snatched the iPad out of my sister s hand. I recommend this place only for the food but not if you are expecting good customer service. Vegetarian options: There were a good amount of vegan options.
