Welcome to Hop Bop Noodle Shop! We opened our doors in 2018 as the newest addition to the HBH Group, featuring our twist on noodle bowls, rice dishes and Asian Street Food.
I LOVE coming to this noodle shop! Aside from the fixed restaurant menu, my favourite thing is, is that you can get a “Build Your Own” soup. You can choose the broth, noodles, protein and vegetables. The food quality, portion sizes, service and prices are all excellent. For my bowl of noodles, which was larger than I was able to eat, cost $16. It may be a small restaurant, but I would say it is one of the best I’ve found across the GTA!
Enjoyed dinner here recently. We took advantage of the fixed menu and had the rice bowl with 2 gyoza. Kiddos ordered the ramen off the kids menu. Portion size was good and the food was pretty tasty. I had asked for mine to be non-spicy, but it still had some heat. Service was on the slower side, but everyone was friendly.
Absolutely amazing Noodle Shop! I got the Vegetable Spring Rolls and The Bibim Bop Rice Bowl. The food tasted so fresh and the bowl portion was very large! Everything was so clean and well kept, and the staff were super friendly and kind! I will be back to try the Ramen for sure!
Nice Asian street food. Tried for the first time and it’s the taste of authentic asian food that I missed. Had Sho-me the ramen and the soup base is nice, the pork is tender and taste like char siew (roast with sauce). The stir fried beef noodle is also tasty, with tender beef. Price is reasonable and service is good. Ambience is good too, with window facing main street. A little gem. Will be back! Edit: Came back and tried different dishes, but was not as nice. The spicy beef ramen soup was ok. The Shanghai beef soup was disappointing - noodles was thick and good, but broth wasn’t nice. Wouldn’t try these dishes.
It was a quiet Sunday, and I stopped in after attending a pottery class. The environment is clean, and the service was good. We had the chicken bao as an appetizer. The bun was pillowy soft, the sauce was tangy with a little heat, and the chicken was crunchy. Delicious. 😋 We ordered the beef brisket ramen, one spicy and one not. I appreciate that the chef was able to accommodate the non-spicy request.👍🏾 The broth was okay. Everything tasted "fresh" and could have benefitted with a little salt. The portions are good and pricing reasonable.
My kids love their kiddo ramen. We tried "The Hop Bop" noodle while I think the soup could be more spicy to enhance the favour. The Shirmp Bao was really good and we would recommend it. Overall, I think it's a good place to try out the fusion food of different Asian cuisines and chill out with friends in a relaxing restaurant. If you are picky about the taste of authentic Asian cuisine, this may not be the best go to place though.
THE BAO!! Best I’ve ever had!! Boyfriend and I stopped in to try one each and they were so good we ended up staying to try more and got an order of gyoza. The eggplant bao is by far the best, I think we ordered one of each. They are all incredible. Super fresh, high quality ingredients, perfectly prepared. The owner of the shop was preparing all the food herself and she was so kind, you can taste all the love and passion she has for her food. I can’t wait to come back and try EVERYTHING on the menu! Thank you Hop Bop for the amazing food, I’m so glad there is food this good in Newmarket. See you again soon!
A fusion restaurant with an interesting menu full of various options. I came during a Friday night and it wasn’t too busy. I ordered the crispy eggplant bao and the u-don good (vegan) noodle soup. Other party members ordered the curtsy bao and a veggie stir fry. The bao was amazing. The flavours were great and the bun was super soft and fluffy – highly recommend. The soup however was very unenjoyable. The mushroom flavours tasted stale and old, as if the soup was left to cook for three years and they finally found it and served it up. I struggled to eat it but only did because I was hungry. I do not recommend that dish whatsoever. I also had a taste of the veggie stir fry and was quite unimpressed. Great inclusion of vegetables, but truly nothing to write home about as it lacked flavour. Overall the service was pretty good, they were super accommodating and understanding of dietary restrictions. I would go back for their bao, but not for anything else. pros: • Bao was great • Extensive menu • Great location on Main St. in Newmarket cons: • Bad soup • Limited seating overall rating: 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Like a lot of people here, I was incredibly excited for this restaurant. Been a big fan of the chefs ramen since it was at HBH 3 years ago. I hate to write this review but after spending $150 and trying 4 different soups and 4 different starters, I couldnt have been more disappointed. Broths are really, really bland. The make your on ramen is horrible, for 8 bucks for noodles and broth it should be decent. Pho fusion (2 min drive from here) you get a massive bowl of gorgeous broth, with all the fixings for the same price. The value here is awful, the food has been consistently bad (on 3 separate occasions). Ground chicken in the tan tan is frustrating to eat as you have over cooked ground chicken bits everywhere. The kimchi is great but a massive portion for a place that promotes comming in for a quick bit. Ordering food is frustrating as I had to go back to the front to order another dish, pay again and also tip again? If I did want to come here with friends to eat wed have to go up to order more food or drinks. Just seems like you guys have taken a big step in reverse. Extremely disappointed
Shanghai Beef soup was very comforting and delicious! Service was fast and prices were great
yummy bao with great options. Service and price were really good as well. A must try!
We recently dined at Hop Bop, and while the service was friendly and efficient, the food itself didn t quite hit the mark. Our server/cashier Anne was great, but the ramen we ordered was much too salty, which made it difficult to enjoy. We also tried the bao, and while it was fine, it didn t stand out just ordinary, lacking any memorable flavors or textures. Overall, its a spot with good service, but the food could definitely use some improvement, particularly in flavor balance and creativity.
Wow! This was a bit of a surprise for me. Food was great, service was awesome, atmosphere was really nice (summer, open garage door).
Ordered from Skip. Got the Japengo which probably would have been OK if the tofu wasnt soggy. Its like it was just cut out of the package and tossed in. Maybe fry it up a bit. The whole dish was pretty bland. The bao was actually really delicious and I would order just that next time.
First time here. Amazing service! Great location and amazing prices. Definitely will come again- food was fresh and service was quick. Big portions!
I love that they serve Filipino-inspired foods. The staff are very friendly and accommodating as well. Being located in the heart of Main Street is a plus.
We came for a late lunch and were not disappointed. Great little Asian fusion place on Main Street. We loved their noodles and bao. Interesting fusion menu. We would definitely come back to try again when were in the area. Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs available for little ones.
It was a rainy day we went there. We ordered seafood noodle and spicy beef noodle, chicken pieces with fries as well. Normal food was finished in a stink place, not very clean restaurant. It was the last time I think.
I chose this restaurant, looking For authentic Korean Bibm-bop, which became my favourite dish when I worked in Seoul Korea. A standard feature of authentic Korean Bibm-bop is to come with side, dishes, or pan-chan. No side dishes here. It was $15 for the Bibm-bop and I was offered kimchi for five bucks more. The rice was not standard Par-boiled rice but actually tasted like semi dry basmati rice. Or maybe dry reheated old rice. I was informed it is an Asian fusion restaurant, I don t know what that means. But I do know the the food was mostly flavourless. I have eaten at over 30 different Korean restaurants. This was the worst Bibmbop I have ever had. I do not recommend the bibm+bop here. The atmosphere and servers were pleasant.
The staff here are incredibly nice. The food is great too. I had the chicken stir fry and a chicken bun. The bun wasn t the best as it had pineapple in it lol
In from out of town and stopped in for some soup. Ended up getting the you think you can tan tan which was amazing and delicious. pretty good craft beer list and the rest of the menu looked awesome
I think for me was the best so delicious! Flavourful broth, ill be back ! To try more.
Do not recommend!!! So disappointed The staff are very nice. But, the food is bad and expensive too and the portion is very small. And the service takes forever. For an order of 1 noodles, we have to wait at least 30 minutes considering only 2 tables/costumers only .
I did like their ramen , not too salty . Spicy Bao was great
Friendly service, chill atmosphere, and the seafood noddle soup was hopping my taste buds!!! Pulled pork bao was awesome!
Decided to try this noodle place because we were heading to dt newmarket. We ordered the spicy chicken bao and the bbq pork bao, both were pretty decent. My husband ordered the seafood ramen and I ordered the bbq pork ramen with mushrooms and bok choy. We had ordered the kids ramen and popcorn chicken which they had forgotten until after we had to ask them about it 20 minutes after we had gotten our food first. They weren t that busy with only 2 or 3 tables so not sure how they missed part of the order. They just seem quite disorganized. But the major disappointment came from the bbq pork ramen soup, the broth tasted alright but the shitake mushrooms in it I noticed had a weird taste as I took a bite into it. I didn t think too much about it as I was hungry and ate it anyways. Turns out that four hours later when I got home, I ended up have food poisoning and was vomitting which I am almost sure it was from the foul taste of the mushrooms. I am extremely disappointment in the quality of the ingredients used and the overall service. I will definitely will not be coming back.
Great vibes and friendly hosts
I had a great lunch on my birthday. Arbelle served my table. She is very kind and understanding. She patiently explained to me the ingredients of the food. I loved it!
One of my usual go-to places in Main St. Probably the only place that sells Filipino-inspired food close to me, even if most of them are seasonal or special items. I usually get the adobo bao and jalapeño eggplant bowl.
The worst place in Newmarket, the food and service were very bad and the food was not fresh, I had Hop Bob soup which I couldnt even eat half of.
Not great ramen but they have other items that are ok to enjoy such as the Bao bun. Probably better for take-out>dinning in, it s an ok place if you don t have high expectations going into eating the food.
Most disgusting ramen Ive ever eaten. Moldy Mr.noddles is probably better what a joke. You should just close and save everyone from having to eat your disgusting food.
Ordered Shanghai Beef noodles, beef stir fry, popcorn chicken and a Bao. Popcorn chicken was undercooked but rest was good :)
Solid noodles w a casual and friendly vibe
Excellent and safe place to play around for kids...we had a great time at play area...Food is very good real value for money and would surely visit regularly
The food is just ok, service was great, the state of the bathrooms is absolutely atrocious. I won t be coming back for this reason - absolutely disgusting.
Great place. Food was delicious and the service was fantastic.
Love their general bao buns and their ramen is great! Its a great lunch or dinner spot with reasonable pricing and not too heavy meals
We have been to Hop Boo several times over the years, including ordering delivery during COVID, and have always enjoyed the food.
What a difference not having to log in so all your friends and employees can leave reviews and not being able to remove reviews makes to your score.
Very disappointed in this place if I could give a half star I would. I can t speak on the ramen, but I ordered general Tao and the chicken was soggy like it s from an all you can eat buffet, mostly breading, and the chicken didn t even taste like general Tao. My friend ordered the the chicken stir fry and the chicken smelt like it had gone bad. Crazy that you pay almost 50$ for food and it s worse than if I went to the the chinease place at the mall
Show me the ramen on the menu is bad. It tastes horrible, cup noodles are better than that. The popcorn chicken is not popcorn chicken, its just fried chicken. It is so overpriced. 50$ for 2 ramen and chicken. The chicken does not even have a lot of pieces. Go to another place for real ramen. Its probably those who didnt taste real ramen who rate it so high!
Spicy beef ramen was delicious. Thanks!
Ive been here a couple of times now and both times have delighted by the dishes. The chef masterfully manipulates Asian cuisine for the local palate. I had the Laksa last time I was there. Pretty darn good!
I recently visited HopBop Noodle House in Newmarket and had a pretty good experience overall. While their ramen wasnt the most authentic Ive ever had, my kids absolutely loved it and devoured every last noodle. However, the real standout for me was the shrimp bao - it had the perfect amount of crunch and the shrimp filling was perfectly seasoned. I could have eaten a dozen of them! One thing I really appreciated about HopBop Noodle House was that it wasnt overcrowded when we visited at 6pm on a Tuesday. We were able to snag a table right away and didnt feel rushed or cramped during our meal. The service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food we received. Overall, I would definitely recommend HopBop Noodle House to anyone looking for a tasty Asian fusion meal in Newmarket. Just make sure to order the shrimp bao - its a real winner!
Very average, nothing special.
Cute and cozy, delicious food, and friendly staff!
This restaurant has an amazing vibe - good music, delicious food, and super friendly staff. We tried the popcorn chicken, spicy beef ramen, hop bop ramen, and 2 baos with a side of fries. Excited to come back to try more items on the menu. Check it out for sure!
I love a good soup and I wanted to like this place but unfortunately I was let down. First the pros: service was good and I like the selection of soft drinks. Next the cons: way overpriced!!! $14 for a tiny bowl of soup is just reciculous! I would understand if it was something spectacular that I could not get anywhere else but to be honest the soup was not that good. The broth was quite bland and there were minimal ingredients.
I love this place. They always adapt the recipes to make it vegan for me and it s always delicious. Thanks and keep up the good work. Vegetarian options: There could be more but they are very good at adapting the recipes to make them vegetarian or vegan and it s always delicious.
Food was delicious. The service excellent.
Hop Bop Noodle Shop is a quaint restaurant on Main St. In old downtown Newmarket. Their specialty is baos, which are meat/seafood/vegetable filled steamed buns. They also have a few stir fries and rice dishes. The food is fresh and very flavorable. Its a great place for lunch.
Stopped in at this restaurant for lunch and was very disappointed with our food. The bao was amazing as was the ramen but the rice bowls were tasteless. No flavour at all.
Amazing food. Consistently great. Casual atmosphere.
In all aspects a 10/10 highly recommend.
Egg plant Bao is unreal.
Love this place, the Sho me the ramen is to die for. Thanks for the extra box choy and cute doodles!!
Ordered the beef noodles and bbq pork bag and it was good but it s just lacking a bit in flavour. Portion was really good and tons of meat! Our server was very accommodating and patient!
Hidden gem. Amazing noodles and broth.
good vibe :3
Great Bao Buns (beef, pork, duck, fish). Great Dumplings too.
Theres nothing good about the ramen from here. The noodles are awful, the broth tastes like its a powder mix, the mushrooms tasted chewy and disgusting and they didnt even prep the bok choy properly. I wouldnt recommend this to my worst enemy.
I dont like leaving bad reviews for no reason. But I must give this restaurant a bad one because having 4 stars for their food is incredibly inappropriate. I ordered the Sho me the ramen and it was atrocious. Noodles were ok, broth tasted like dirty water, pork was dry and burnt, bok choi was not properly prepared and cut, and the mushrooms were so STALE I had to spit them out. It is flat out disrespectful to serve this as ramen from a restaurant when instant ramen is so much better than this. Very disappointed and will likely never come back.
Quiet and relaxing place to dine with friends, while enjoying some Ramen and baos. I tried the Spicy Beef Ramen and Shrimp Bao as it was highly recommended by the chef Ivy who was available to serve my friends and I. Lovely staff and great experience overall.
A Casual Lunch at Hop Bop Noodle Shop Recently, I gathered with a group of friends at Hop Bop Noodle Shop, an Asian fusion spot that boasts both Japanese ramen and Hong Kong cuisine. We were a sizable group of around 20, and despite the bustling atmosphere, the place managed to handle the crowd quite efficiently. One thing that stood out was the prompt service. The kitchen seemed to work like a well-oiled machine, ensuring our orders were served in a timely manner. Given the number of people, it was a relief not to face the dreaded long wait times that can accompany a large group outing. The atmosphere inside reflected that of a typical Japanese ramen shop, providing a cozy and familiar vibe. Considering its location on downtown Main Street, the ambient noise was par for the course no surprises or complaints there. Opting for the lunch menu, I decided to try the special ramen and a Hong Kong bao. While the ramen was a fair option, Id say it was more of a 5/10 for me. The broth lacked a bit of depth, and there was a noticeable shortage of protein and veggies. On the other hand, the Hong Kong bao stole the spotlight. Soft, flavorful, and generously filled, it turned out to be the highlight of the meal. All in all, my experience at Hop Bop Noodle Shop was decent. The service and atmosphere made it a comfortable spot for a group outing, and while the ramen may not have been a showstopper, the delightful surprise of the Hong Kong bao balanced things out. Its the kind of place where you get what you expect nothing too flashy, just a straightforward and reasonably satisfying meal.
Had a great experience. The food is absolutely amazing, very fresh and well presented on colourful plates and bowls. They had pad thai for the month of December. It s by far the best I ve ever had and hope they make it part of their permanent menu! Service was also great. Quick and efficient.
Not good at all! Looks can be deceiving, you can only taste salt in the soup and nothing else. First and last time for sure.
I love this place. Always good food. Careful about the one and done reviewers like EL who just do reviews to get ranking points by Google. Restaurant business isnt the Super Bowl where you get one chance and finished if you dont perform optimally every time. These businesses have been through hell and back in the last year. Try organizing staff and inventory of fresh perishable goods when you dont know when the next lockdown will occur. Great job from these wonderful hard working people in the food service industry. As for the entitled reviewers that think they are some profound food critic - go-away and travel in packs with your likeminded self loathing non contributing waste of life peoples that you are. By the way I have no affiliation with this business other than enjoying their great food!
I ordered food here for the first time and let me tell you how fantastic it was!!! The food was packaged so well, excellent customer service from ordering for pick up and to receiving it ! The food was phenomenal!!! I had the hop bop soup and the bao! New favourite place !
I been to the restaurant I had a great experience by the staff I really appreciate it I would like to thank you for all the staff for the food its fresh its a beautiful place thanks for the food I had a great time I recommend anyone to try the food thanks for the food
I love the food they have alot of variety. the food is flavourful. Philippines food.
Amazing food and amazing atmosphere, the waiter ,5* for customer service This is what we call authentic food.love all of them..Malay Beef Curry,Spicy Beef Ramen and Shrimp Bao. Thank you. You made our day.
Absolutely delicious. Tried both gluten free options and both were great. Gluten free soup was my favorite of the two. Wife loved it as well. Will be coming again.
They treated thoes who do delivery very unfairly
The secrete menu Baokfast is the best on the menu. Ask for Andrew.
Great atmosphere and great service, the baokfast is by far the best menu item.
Hilarious I just read a review that said all they could taste was salt! & I was just going to write my review and say it s all about the broth Each time I ve had soup here whatever the ingredients are it s the broth that brings it all together I think E L should try again
Dear shrimp bao, where have you been all of my life?? I love you You ll love these too!!! Great food, great service and super friendly staff. Thanks Hop Bop for bringing us together!
This gem is always on point, never disappointed
First time trying Hop Bop this afternoon. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. We had the Show-me-the-Ramen and chicken boa. Both were cooked to perfection. Service was impeccable and the food was to die for. Not only was everything good, the presentation of the dishes were also well done, very appealing to both the eyes and taste. Five out five. If you havent been yet. This is the go to place for the best ramen around. P.S: Be ready to experience Heaven cause this noodle shop is to die for.
Has really high expectations but was disappointed.
Wasnt a fan. This was my first time at this place and I had high hopes. Tried beef stir fry and general Tao chicken. The chicken was okay and the noodles in the beef stir fry were good. Everything else was really not up to par. The beef was probably the worst part and tasted chewy. I was not a fan and probably wont be coming back.
The food was good. The server, not so much. He kept eavesdropping, trying to weigh in while we were discussing our order amongst ourselves, seemed super flustered and spoke in an unprofessional manner. It s all about the training though, so can t put it all on the poor guy.
Fun restaurant, excellent staff & delicious food. My grandkids enjoyed it too. The bao is amazing.
Service: 10/10, the girl with the long ponytail was super attentive and friendly Food: 2/10, the baos were so bad. The duck was so dry it didnt even taste like duck anymore, it has WAY too much black pepper. The take-a-bao meat was so dry and tasteless it only relied on a lot of sauce for flavour
3.5 rating. Its okay. Other than the taste of the food, It could use a little improvement in every aspect.
Great food and even better service. Being Muslim, finding noodle spots that use halal broth can be difficult. The server was amazing and double checked their options and they made my dish with a vegan broth so I could enjoy. Also cute area with outdoor seating available. Dietary restrictions: Halal substitution available
Amazing noodles soups! Love the casual atmosphere.
Rip off! Ordered popcorn chicken for $12 and recieved 9 pieces of chicken nuggets! Looks like someone already ate out of it. See photo. Called Hop Bop to see maybe the driver ate out of it? Ivy the manager confirmed that this is the amount you get for $12, and rudely saying this is meant to be an appetizer, a sharble dish and not a meal. What a rip off!
Had the bbq chicken bao it was sweet but tasty. It was also affordable and filling. My first time have natural root beer too which was also good. The atmosphere was nice and the place was clean. The waitress was friendly. Will be coming back to try what else is one the menu.
Love this place!!! If you want better soups you gotta make it yourself
Service was nice, food delicious! Love shopping local and liking it!
Very tasty and authentic ramen
Great curry dish and Shanghai noodles with chicken
Food was exactly what I was looking for. Staff is friendly too.
Genuinely delicious cuisine with fresh ingredients. I love the Bao, and the Jungle Curry is one of the best rice dishes in town, in my opinion. You can get add-ins for fairly cheap and substitute the base noodle/rice easily. Delivery always arrives hot and delicious. I may go bankrupt but itll be a gustatorily rewarding endeavor!
This restaurant did not mention or note that they use peanut oil. We had a severe reaction in our family because of that. Will not order from here again.
fantastico! as usual. were regulars because the food is just that good. if you like unpretentious Asian food, try it, youll be back,
I bought spicy beef stir fry. The noodle were bland, no flavour to the beef and the veggies were hard. Only flavour was spicy which wasn t pleasant. Very disappointed to this as I had high hopes.
Everything I make it here the food is top knotch in my books. Always seems fresh and tasty and warms my soul. Staff is always nice and friendly too.
Good portion and presentation, but the broth is too salty for my liking.
My daughters and I were searching for a ramen restaurant, so we decided to try Hot Bop Noodle Shop in downtown New Market. I would ve given them 4 stars, but my daughters are expert ramen eaters and suggested a 3. There was ample parking downtown since we came after rush hour. The restaurant was decorated nicely and was clean. The service staff were well accommodating, and the food came out promptly and was hot. We ordered a Shrimp Bao and a Take a Bao. Both my daughters said they enjoyed the sweetness of the steamed bun. The General Bao they found was not to their taste and they ended up only eating the fried chicken out of the General Bao and the shrimp out of the Baos. We ordered two Sho-Me the Ramen and one chicken and veg stir fry. We enjoyed the stir fry but unfortunately there was something going on with the bok choy in the ramen that made it taste bitter or too salty, which is why we are giving a 3-star rating. The broth was tasty, but we couldnt get past the bitterness. We also ordered the fresh sweet tea that was made in-house and a hot chocolate. My daughters commented that the tea was ok, but not anything spectacular but that the hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream was good. I was impressed by the large selection of local breweries featured but did not sample them.
Really good food and service.
My boyfriend and I come here all the time for lunch and it never disappoints. The boas are always so tasty but sometimes we switch it up and get the stir fry or soups. We always have extra to take home as well. Super affordable, cute environment and worth the visit. Also their homemade sweet tea is a must! Vegetarian options: Lovely vegan/veggie options!
Great ramen with huge portions, affordable pricing and amazing staff!! They were very helpful with selecting items from the menu and even helped with a birthday party by storing the cake in the fridge for a couple of hours until we arrived.
I love ramen, one of my favorite meals to pickup. Im used to eating authentic ramen bowls so I had high hopes for this place when I found out it was close to my work. However, I was really disappointed with the taste which was closer to Mr. noodles than authentic ramen. I even tried going back for the spicy beef stir fry thinking that maybe the first experience was a misfire but to my surprise it was not very good either and many of the noodles were clumped up as if they were unthawed and immediately thrown into my bowl. I hope they figure it out as id like a ramen place in walking distance from work but I wont be going back soon.
Delicious food, great time had, a preacher friend suggested this place as a good place for a great meal and he was correct - well worth it.
Because of Covid restrictions I had to do takeout. However, they were very courteous on the phone and very accommodating and flexible on their menu options. The food was ready when I arrived to pick it up and it was very fresh and hot. Overall a very pleasant experience. Look forward to eating in there when Covid is behind us, but will continue with takeout until then.
This place has been a lockdown staple in my house ever since we moved to Newmarket. Having a great place for ramen and bao is such a treat for my family! Food is delicious and I can tell great attention to detail is paid to each and every meal. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, and I look forward to dining in soon.
Fresh, delicious, amazing staff and definite repeat visits
Amazing ramen. Will get again and again
Was delicious and yummy. I am happy to be a part of supporting local business during these rough times.
Order from ubereats. Canceled the order right away, I get an email saying ive been charged for the full order because they already started making the meal. Very upset, I place an order and canceled right after immediately. How do you start 3 dishes that fast. I would of just payed and got it delivered but instead im out $44.07. This place lost my buisness.
Friendly staff, delicious food, couldn t ask for me! My husband and I had the duck bao, bbq pork bao, spicy beef stir fry, and seafood noodle and it was all wonderful!! Highly recommended and we will be back for sure :)
First and last time ordering. Unfortunately the noodles were bland and the broth was salty, but the worst of it was the bok choy that was not washed properly. The boa did not look as advertised and tasted mediocre. The Lumpia was inauthentic, barely anything inside and was mostly wrapping. The chicken popcorn was more breading than chicken. Portion sizes and food presentation did not justify the price. Overall disappointing and definitely would not recommend.
Friendly staff good food
Omg this place is amazing. Super tasty and authentic. Ivy and Jasmine will take excellent care of you.
It is such a wonderful place ! Amazing food combined with great service, clean and cozy atmosphere with great music and friendly staff! The ramen and bao were soooo good , recommended to anyone! You won t regret your visit :)
What an amazing spot! Discovered it during the pandemic and so happy we did! My family and I have been back several times and it never fails to impress! The bao is absolutely to die for! Fantastic prices and ivy is a saint will continue to come back as a regular
Not thrilled with the food here. Every dish had at least one ingredient that wasnt available but the price remained the same. The flavour and texture were disappointing. This was about 2 years ago and I have not been back.
Unfortunately, the best part of Hop Bop was their punny menu names. The restaurant might be good enough in a rural community with limited Asian options, but in one of the worlds most multicultural areas, good enough doesnt cut it. Save your wallet and appetite - there are much better options around for the price point. -- I left confused about what Hop Bop was trying to do: Authentic? Nope, the noodles I had were not fresh and the broths were not rich. Fusion? Not really, there is no non-Asian influence here. Creative? I think they tried to throw in a few twists, but it didnt work.
Great food, great prices, excellent restaurant
Beyond disappointed! The most blandest ramen I have ever had in my entire life! Ramen noodles were over cooked. Ribs were way too dry. The spring rolls were burnt and served with BBQ sauce?!?!?! First and last time.
Came here for lunch and was disappointed. Ordered the Shanghai noodles and their lumpia, the soup was very bland and had no flavour and their lumpia had very little stuffing. Customer service was great though.
Probably the worst ramen Ive ever had. Noodles were taken from packaged ramen, and broth was most likely a mix too.
A little underwhelming. Expect more Japanese style and thus is more Korean.
Food was amazing and service was outstanding. Gotta eat here!
Very tasty and fresh, both in concept and quality of food!
Amazing food, fun atmosphere
Hop Bop is by the same owner of Brew Hops and Little Brew Hops, which my wife and I frequent, so naturally we assumed this place would be great. The restaurant itself is a lovely atmosphere and very inviting. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. The first problem was with our order. We had decided to do a couple orders of Build Your Own. The soup was so hot that it had actually melted through the styrofoam container, spilling in to the carry-out bag and burning my wifes lap on the car ride home. What was left for her to eat, including my meal, were incredibly lacking in portion considering the cost. I didnt mind paying a little more for a pint of craft while we waited for our order, but it hardly felt worth it. The food itself was also quite bland. This place has potential and I really hope they work out the kinks, especially the pricing.
Soup was tasteless and too expensive
The best
To be fair, the service was fast. I ordered take out, and was ready when I got there 10 min after hanging up. Also the food was plentiful but it wasnt good. None of us finished, and it wasnt for lack of trying. I do not recommend this place.
Very friendly staff!
Store manager was so nice. We came in 15 mins before close and she accommodated to us. This was a month ago I forgot to leave a review but definitely will come here again. And the food was so good and large portions
Love it
Ordered three different dishes with two sides for the family and it was all bland, with old produce. Unfortunate because ive heard great things.
This place is awesome!
The food was disappointing.
We ordered the Shanghai Moon and the Seafood Udon, but they seemed very easy to make.
Good food, friendly service and prices are decent. They get points for offering takeout throughout the stage one quarantine for COVID-19
All five of us enjoyed our meals. Wasnt busy at 6pm on a Thursday night so that is why we chose it - as we were in a rush. Service was quick and friendly.
Really delicious food and great service.
Great little restaurant. A little expensive but worth it.
I love ramen and was very excited to try this place when I found out about it. I was very dissapointed. The ramen was very basic and even the broth was bland. I could have made something alot better-tasting at home, especially for the price I paid. I also tried the pork bao and it was simply OK. Both dishes were definitely not authentic.
food is awful
I normally dont write review, but this is unacceptable and dont want anyone else to experience this. Two of my dishes had Bok Choy and was not washed. I got a surprise chew of sand. Not pleased at all.
We just stopped in for a light lunch on a gorgeous warm November day. Service was excellent, masks required, we sat at the counter. We shared spring rolls, which were phenomenal. Great in-house made sweet and sour sauce then each had a Bao. Really flavourful, lovely soft bun, a great lunch. Would recommend this spot to anyone who wants something other than a fast food hamburger.
Delicious and quick friendly service
Ended up here by chance when other plans fell through. So glad we got to try it. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was really neat with the garage door open to main St. You order at the counter then they bring your order to your table. Everything we had was delicious and I highly recommend the take a bao. It is a fairly quick meal. Well worth it, we will definitely be going again!
Always on point
Surprisingly good. Prices are very reasonable, and food is quite filling. Service was average, but thats not what you to there for. Craft beer selection is also good for a small place. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Get a big bowl of noddles with any thing you want to have floating in it Sells some very nice microbrew beer You will be asking yourself next time... Spoon or chopsticks Grasshopper?
My go to lunch spot when I am working @Bikesports. Tasty stuff cool space. The house hot sauce is the bomb.
Part of the Brew Hops company. Unfortunately I feel like they missed the mark on this. An American twist to ramen with not nearly as much flavor and care. The tantan was ok. A good amount of noodles and chicken. Although the chicken had no flavor to it. Added a poached egg in hopes it was close to a traditional semi-hard boiled egg and it wasnt the same. Tried a build your own with ramen broth and it was watery. Bbq pork wasnt even flame broiled to add to the flavor. Shitake mushrooms? Nope. Not a single one. Instead they put in what looked like oyster mushrooms. Then lets add on to the kids chicken bites. Mmmm McCain thin fries with dried mini chicken bites. Thank goodness for the free water. Highly disappointed because I love what the company usually does. But this branch needs to get a second look over. Stop by an authentic ramen noodle shop, learn from it and revamp please. I would like to see Newmarket get an amazing noodle shop.
This is my favourite place to eat in Newmarket, it is a real joy to find a place that has fast service, big portions, and great selections for me and my vegan girlfriend. Do yourself a favour and check it out!
It is on the pricy side of reasonable. But the food is very good. I wish they served dumplings on the side, not just in the soup.
Straight trash.
friendly staff. great atmosphere... but food isn t so good. not much flavour to it. i really wanted to love it because i really want a noodle house option close to home. i ve been there 3 times and each time have tried something different and each time i ve been disappointed.
Absolutely delicious the spice is so intense in some of their dishes so if you like spicy definitely recommend
All the food is a mix between Chinese, Japanese and Korean dishes and you will end up paying a bit more than these dishes. This kind of restaurant makes you pay first and receive food afterwards while water is self serve. This means you tip before you get food or service. It makes you wonder what you are tipping for if almost no service is provided. Food is alright, just seems like you are paying for the interior design and not food.
Nice atmosphere, good food. Was hoping for some seafood street food dishes. Maybe later. For sure worth a second visit.
Great food and service
Great, everything smells so good here and the food is amazing!
Delicious stir fry and really friendly and helpful service!
Decent but nothing spectacular
Was excited to try a noodle shop locally, but unfortunately was completely let down by the taste of the food. Visually it was reasonable, but unbelievably the flavors were absolutely horrible. Perhaps the non-noodle dishes might not be as bad, but being a noodle shop, I dont know. Nice decor, trendy atmosphere, just dont expect anything resembling authentic taste. Ive never left a meal after taking only a couple bites, this was my first time. Which is a shame since the place was pretty nice.
Is a Korean dinner filled with a great cross between canadian and Korean food that well fill your needs from burgers to noodles. Great staff, very friendly with a healthy environment that well turn your interests in meat to a full healthy meal.
Unbelievable food. Massive amounts, perfectly cooked, wish I could give them 6 stars instead of 5. Will definitely be eating here again and again.
This place is awesome! The staff are so accommodating and the food is amazing!
Tasty noodles in a beautiful cozy place what else can i ask for? The food was great , the broth could have less salt .
Fresh, amazing flavours! Ordered the Raman, stir fry and take a bao. Hats off to the chefs! Will definitely be back see what other deliciousness Hop Bop has to offer.
I havent spent a lot of time in Newmarket, but somehow found my way down Main Street. A cute strip of local restaurants and shops. The restaurant looks trendy and had a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was definitely below expectation. I recommend avoiding the soups. I tried the Can-You Tan Tan, U-Don Good, and the Hop Bop and they werent for me.
The service is always really good, with friendly employees. I have only tried the ramen and beer here, but both have been fantastic with great options for both. The pre-designed ramen options all seem really good, and the options for building your own allows for a wide range of choices which will want you to keep coming back.
Not very tasty and my daughters ramen was sooooo salty.
