Joia on Main in Newmarket

As usual Joia was a total satisfaction. The food was amazing and service was perfect.

It is a noisy busy place in the evening, full of life, energising. Now, before Christmas the view from windows is in tune with holidays, lighted trees and a scating rink. The waitresses were very confident and skilfull, with such an amount of customers it could not be the opposite. The pizzas were floating around in basil vapours. We ordered the one with vegetables, delicious. The cocktail with campari was so strong that I suddenly loved everything around.

I Entertained at the restaurant last night and the food was incredible! Staff are amazing and the Atmosphere was so welcoming.

Had a very unfriendly server. Pasta dish was inedible sent back over salted. Meh

Although I still love this restaurant and everything about it, I thought I would share my feedback regarding my latest visit. I went to Joia in September, and was told that they no longer served their wine in stem glasses. An Italian restaurant that does not give you the option. Its because of that, that I have not gone back, and will not, until they offer stem glasses for wine. They charge enough on wine to replace the broken glasses, which is what the server told me was the reason.

A bit noisy during dinner, but overall a fantastic place. We will be back

Absolutely amazing ! Went for a night out with hubs as it was our anniversary and a local told us about this place ! What a Gem !!! Service was amazing and food was cooked too perfection ! I would highly recommend !

We went to Joia for a date night. The bottom part of the restaurant was packed and we were placed close to the kitchen and a high traffic area...I did not want to eat there. So we asked to move upstairs which they accommodated after checking with the server. We sat by a lovely fireplace and enjoyed a quiet dinner with great food and service.

The waitress was really rude and unfriendly. Someone at my table ordered Ravioli and it was 6 or 7 pieces, may as well be a children meal. Would never go back

Their reservations system stinks because they have none. An online system is badly needed.

We celebrated a birthday at Joia on Main and it was wonderful! The food was great! (Fantastic choice of specials tonight!) The service was amazing. Weve traditionally gone to the Aurora location and thought wed check out Newmarket. Well definitely be back to enjoy patio season!

went in for my friends 19th birthday party.. our server was unwelcoming and impolite and did not even introduce herself. my friend ordered the ravioli and for $26 recieved SIX (6) medium sized raviolis that could have easily been an appetizer.,. not at all worth the price or the hype for poor service and tiny portions

ask the sever what was recommended and she said the ravioli. Little did i know, i would be charge $26 for 6 little pieces of ravioli A heads up or even displaying it on the menu would be nice

Food is okay but overpriced. Service was poor, we weren t given a drink menu until it was asked for, waitress seemed uninterested and didn t introduce herself and went straight to asking what drinks we wanted. Ambience is awful, not worth coming back.

Had my parents 25th anniversary party (40 people) at Joia on main this past weekend and it was perfect! Absolutely fabulous, food was great, service was even better definitely recommend.

Joia on Main in Newmarket was a lovely experience during our bicycle trip on the Niokiidaa Trail. The staff were extremely pleasant and attentive. The salads we enjoyed both Cesar and and tossed green insalata di compo with chicken were delicious.

I went there Thursday of the last Music in the park in Newmarket and it was one of those perfect night outs! The place was packed. The music was perfect. Everyone was dancing. The food was great. The service was even better - I even saw the owner get up on a chair and dance with everyone and thank everyone for being there. What a place! Had an amazing meal at Joia a few days ago! I love seafood pasta and have it at many restaurants and Joia s Linguine Pescatore was THE BEST I have ever had! Really fresh variety of lots of great seafood with amazing tomato sauce; wicked flavour explosion! Perfect!! Great service and a super fun atmosphere. Best patio anywhere! I can t wait to get back there for another great meal and evening! Bravo!

We have gone to Joia several times and its always delicious. Last week, it was exceptional. We were there for dinner and to enjoy the final Newmarket Music Series concert. We shared pizza (my fav is the Bianchi), pasta and enjoyed nice wine and cocktails with new and old friends and family. It was a perfect summer evening on one of the best patios. Great place to go for a date night, dinner with friends or a large group.

Had our wedding reception in the private room upstairs; service was great and food was on point. Many thanks to Shauna and the staff for making it such a memorable day.

John and I hosted our sons rehearsal dinner for their wedding. Joya s team exceeded all of our expectations. We have lived in Newmarket for 28 years and we wanted the town we call home to be a part of our celebration. The location and view were spectacular. All of our guests enjoyed themselves. Service was spectacular.

The service was mediocre, and the pasta barely passable. Do yourself a favor and skip the side of protein it s not worth it. The chicken arrived rubbery, flavourless, and suspiciously served in a puddle of tepid water, as if it had been pre-cooked and forgotten in a fridge for days. The shrimp was even worse bland, with a sickly colour that left us questioning whether it was fully cooked. This was a far cry from my previous visit, where I enjoyed a delightful salmon entrée. Perhaps the head chef was absent, leaving the kitchen in the hands of an unskilled crew, and it showed.

Our server, angie, was the best. Great service and she was very attentive to the needs of my 90 year old mother.

We ordered soup, and it took 25 minutes to arrive. The menu listed the soup at $8, but when we received the bill, we were charged $12 for what amounted to just 10 spoonfuls. When I asked to see the menu again, they brought both a printed paper and the actual menu, where the soup price had been marked off. I pointed out that the menu I was initially given clearly showed the soup priced at $8, but the server insisted that all their menus had the $8 price crossed out, implying I was mistaken. I asked how I could possibly know the price was $8 if it had supposedly been crossed out in my menu. They refused to adjust the bill, saying there was nothing they could do, and I had to pay the $12. This restaurant is in a great location in Newmarket, and I truly want them to continue their business and serve the community, but this kind of behavior needs to be addressed and corrected. While the amount isn t large, I felt like I was being blatantly taken advantage of!

Food was ok, atmosphere _was nice to sit on patio ( heaters were on. Our server was nice however I felt rushed, asking if she could remove plate ( food still in i), she also brought out the bill when we had not asked for it) even though she told us we had lots of time. Food

The food is consistently ok but nothing special at all. The patio is very nice. Our waitress was very good. But it took a long time to get our food and my wife mentioned this to the manager who instead of apologizing for the hour long wait told us that that s the restaurant business and we should enjoy the long wait with a drink. No apology or thanks for our patience.

Been to Joia on Main several times food and atmosphere are always pleasant. Waitress Shauna not so pleasant. Her lack of friendliness, her I don t care attitude is very noticeable and not acceptable in this line of work. If you don t like people then perhaps this isn t the job for you. And I only say this because we have experienced this more than once now with her as our server. Sometimes a change for the better would be in the best interest of the owners.

Overpriced with small portions. Service was good, but wont be back. Paid $100 for a meal that I could have made at home for a third of the price.

Their cheese pizza is the best Ive tried in my life

Our waitress was amazing. However one of our mains was undercooked. Raw bacon wrapped scallops. The waitress returned it to kitchen and it was sent back to us saying it was cooked. So it was not eaten . The food is very boring without much authenticity. If you are really Italian you will know the difference. Sauce is abysmal.

We went to dinner here with several friends. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was really good and the ambiance on the patio was very nice. I will definetely be coming back.

**Served an Espresso Martini with WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE in place of Espresso** ~ I personally emailed Joia 2 weeks ago regarding this situation, giving them a chance to rectify it privately given how loyal of customers we have been over the years. I received NO response so I am now taking my experience publicly~ My husband and I have been regular customers of Joia over on a regular basis over the past several years. However on a recent visit, I had an extremely terrible experience when I was served an espresso martini that had been made with Worcestershire sauce in place of espresso. Our server (Kate) was hardly sympathetic or apologetic given how egregious of a mistake had been made. It felt as though we were being dismissed, and the seriousness of the situation was not acknowledged. Consuming an entire mouthful of Worcestershire sauce was not only unpleasant but also potentially harmful. Despite this, there was no genuine apology or attempt to rectify the situation beyond remaking the drink which, to be honest, I did not even want anymore given what had just occurred and that I could only taste Worcestershire sauce in my throat for the rest of the evening. To add insult to injury, I was dismayed to find that the faulty drink had not even been removed from our bill. As loyal customers who have frequented this establishment on numerous occasions, this oversight was particularly disheartening. This experience has left a sour taste in our mouths, both literally and figuratively and we will no longer be visiting this restaurant. Looking forward to LOCALE bringing genuine customer service and craft cocktails to Newmarket Main St in September!!

Party of 10. The service from Biancha was superior. Everything a customer would require for a pleasant finding experience was surpassed by her. Awareness and attentiveness is 100% on point. Got the zuchini pasta which was okay but would likely go with fettuccine or pizza next time! Great patio! See you again soon!

Aesthetically it s a nice place but the food was disappointing especially for their prices. The gnocchi was simple but not bad but the Cajun chicken was horrible. So over cooked and dry it tasted like paper.

DISAPPOINTING that an establishment such as Joia would allow their servers to perform their duties unprofessionally. We were initially given the option to sit outside on the terrace but declined because the weather was too cold. Instead the server sat us at a table immediately next to the open door to the terrace. The server looked dismayed when we requested to move. Everything went south from here. Our server and other servers began glaring at our table for sending back a dish not prepared as requested, twice. It is uncertain what the final dish included. Rather than catering to the customer s preference, they displayed cattiness and disdain for the extra work required. As a result, the meal was not enjoyed and gratuity not provided. It was also unprofessional for this same group of servers to see us out the door in an ingenuous catty manner.

The service is always atrocious. Food is OK. Their patio is what is good about this place especially summer time during festivals etc. We been here multiple times and waiters always mix up orders with other peoples tables. Just today around 4:30PM we came in a party of 3. We were told there were no seating available for another hour on the patio, although there were clearly 3 high-top tables free. I mentioned to the waitress there were 3 high-top tables free outside, she said she wont seat us there as these were for 4 people or more. ... i told her - does it make a huge difference we are short 1 person when you have 3 tables available. One of the other waitresses who saw this happening even mentioned to the waitress who was rude to us that she could seat us there- to which she snapped and replied to her i wont seat them there We ended up going to Made in Mexico around the corner had amazing service of young servers going above and beyond and great food.

I have been to Joia (New Market) a few times and have had the best experience each time. It s Italian food at its finest. The Fish is fresh and flavourful. The Fritto Misto is to die for. The waiter Shauna is very friendly and makes the experience even more enjoyable. What can I say about the dessert Taste will speak for itself.

I ve been a server for 6 years and I had truly some of the worst service I have ever experienced here. Came for my birthday dinner and had a terrible experience. Server didn t even say hello when greeting the table, just asked drinks? . Waiting so long for everything, food was brought to table with no cutlery. Server didn t touch table once and only took my partners second drink order, leaving me sitting there with no drink during the entirety of my birthday dinner. So disappointed, would never recommend this place.

Hadn t been in a while - was great all around! Looking forward to going back soon.

Our group tried almost every kind of pizza and it was the best pizza we ever had. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was amazing. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

Food was average for the high price. Also took an hour to bring our food when we noticed others seated after us were served food first? Not only that but the table I observed being seated after us yet eating first had the identical dish that I had ordered! The daily fish special Nice spot, I guess when it gets busy they arent able to cope.

I hosted my sons 1st Communion in the party room upstairs. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. Shawna and Marco are very professional and easy to work with. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the homemade gnocchi. Everyone went home with full bellies. All our guests commentated on how friendly and warm the staff is. And of course, my son was so happy with how everything went for his special day. Thank you to the whole team at Joia!

Love all the hand made pastas and fresh wood fired pizzas. Good cocktails and wine selection.

The best Linguine Pescatore I ve had in years. It s a deceptively simple dish to do, but I can t count how many times I ve been at another restaurant and they overcook the pasta or one or more of the types of fish that go into this wonderful dish. Kudos to Mark and his wonderful crew. Will see you again in a few days!

Joia has been our favorite dinner spot for many years. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. The food cant be beat.

This place was a great surprise! I always drive by and see it super packed so we gave it a shot and went there for my birthday. Make sure to make a reservation because it s always super packed. Food is delicious and price is fair (cheaper than big chains like Scaddabush). Service was great too, just a bit on the slow side since it was crowded. But we were not in a rush so we didn t mind.

We hosted a corporate holiday party for 35 people in the private room upstairs in December 2023. Food was excellent and staff took great care of us. We will be back for sure and would recommend Joia on Main as an excellent venue for corporate events.

This place is always full, which suggest that it had good reputation. Not cheap as well. However, for me and my wife it was below our expectations. Maybe our expectations were too high :)

Food was amazing here, in summer book ahead of time or prepared to wait at least half an hour in line. They are temporary closed and I can t wait for them to open again

Fantastic Italian cuisine! We did not have it but the pizza looks so good. Beautiful decor and friendly staff. We attended an event there so do not know the price bracket. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp and powered door so someone could get in the restaurant but think the washrooms were up a set of stairs. I did not confirm myself, family members said this.

The building is nice. The food is bland, service is sub par. Skip the bruschetta, lacks all flavour. Pastas ok, at that price they should be made fresh (clearly are not) Servers are in desperate need of training, at the prices they expect, the service should be better.

Run of the mill Italian restaurant with mediocre service leveraging their location to overcharge for boring uninspired menu items. Service is lacklustre too; Went with a party of 6 and was sat down 25 minutes late past our reservation and was not offered complimentary bread. Only thing this place does well is know how to offer high margin items they can quickly pump out to get you in and out of their restaurant as fast as possible. Don t expect the menu to ever change or expect any passion or excitement in the dishes. Chef is bored!

One of if not the most mediocre unauthentic Italian meals my husband and I have ever had. The Calamari was out 3 seconds after ordering it (over cooked rubbery bland). The pizza was extremely generic, I m pretty sure they used pizza pizza dough (just wasting a great oven). My husbands penne vodka had one singular piece of pancetta in it, the noodles were over cooked and wet. Top all of this with the waitresses all being rude and rushing us. Pretty upset we spent any money there.

Had a wonderful dinner at Joia on Main. Elizabeth was an exceptional server. She went the extra mile to make the evening special. The food was amazing. It was busy and the staff did a great job of managing it. Will go back!

I agree people left reviews boring food Nothing special but too expensive. All dishes were ok but hard to say. I ordered chicken parmigiana but not the best i have had. So I didn t feel it was worth to pay 26. Ordered pasta with chicken extra it taste good but you can barely see chicken you ordered extra for 7.50. So not worth it. As you can see from other reviews, it was boring. I had hard time to pick my dishes because nothing really attractive to me. Well. If you can t cook at home or you are bad for cooking then maybe you can go. If your mom is really good or yourself, this is no.

Love Joia s food!! Their penne vodka is to die for !! Love their patio seating for the summer and the lively surroundings make it an overall amazing dine in experience

I been here a few times with family. Last night was just uncomfortable. Like the staff are unhappy, seem like they don t like their jobs. When complain about our dinner wasn t cooked. They stared at you like they seen a ghost. Our calamari wasn t fresh and over cooked. My salmon was raw. They didn t fix. Was charged for it. My spinach wasn t washed. It was gross. The carrots weren t cooked but raw same time. The green Ben s cold and over cooked. There was zero love in the meal. Just over all not pleased.

Cool atmosphere, but the food is boring. I had fettuccine alfredo and it wasn t anything special. One guest found his spaghetti bolognese salty. My friends brought their baby and found it difficult to change him in the men s room which is down a flight of stairs.

Ordered the ricotta gnocchi and there was no ricotta to be found. Just plain gnocchi in a rosé sauce 5/10. There was no change table in the washrooms. It was my sister in laws birthday and the staff did nothing to celebrate (ie: complimentary dessert or drink) they didn t even wish her a happy birthday. Definitely not a family restaurant. Scaddabush has way better food for the price.

calamari was 17 dollars for literally a handful. 0/10. came out literally 3 seconds after we ordered and was wet lukewarm and rubbery. 0 flavour.

So I happend to walk in the patio from the back and asked for a menu while the family and friends came through the front. We had to put 2 tables together for our size family when the waitress came and told us next time wait for me to seat you. We wanted 2 appetizers but they only brought 1 and said that we only asked for that one but they can put in the order for the other one. When my wife complained about the hair in food, she said that their shef doesnt have hair and it could have been the air since we are in the patio and didnt even apologize and said but whatever. When we said you didnt even offer us water she said you came in and move the tables and sat yourself. Which I dont understand what it has to do with them offering us water. One of our orders was a $59 ribeye that we ordered medium, but it was brought to us medium rare. Which we ate and didnt complain about. Before we even told our waitress about all this, we asked for a manager whom never showed up. They did end up taking the food with hair in it out of our bill only cuz we said we are not paying for it and still our bill was $370. Over all with the horrible service that we received, I would not recommend this place to anyone or go back again.

This was our first try of the new patio at Joia after tennis at 4:15 on Friday. They are just opening so the drink list is limited; no stout so we settled for a couple of glasses of rose and Peroni. The kitchen doesnt open until 5 so no food available, not even snacks. However, we were still on the patio at 5pm so decided to try the dining room. Its a new bright facility, the noise was conversation friendly and the washroom was clean and comfortable. We had pizza, grilled calamari and linguine pescatora which were all good. Service was attentive and timely. We plan to return to the patio in the future and look forward to them having more drink selection and food available before 5pm April 2023 Went for dinner. Its a very nice restaurant in a nice park setting.We had Octopus, Roughy and Risotto, Cappuccino and Black Forest cake . Its interesting how Foccacta $7 has become a course. Service was very good and helpful with the menu. Bill was $90/person with wine, tax & tip.

Yesterday, my mother and a couple of her friends ordered a few pizzas and a couple pasta dishes for takeout and was met with this ridiculous mess of a pizza. As it was a social gathering, they still made an attempt to eat it, but serving a pizza this burnt is just unacceptable especially at this price point. Had it not been for takeout, I dont believe this would have been served, and was clearly a tactical way to get rid of an inedible pizza.

Have been a regular customer since it opened. Came tonight and was dismissed rudely by their employee because we did not have a reservation. There was zero organization. We called in to ask to book a reservation and we re told they don t do those anymore, with no explanation. Then when we arrived we found out everyone had reservations and we were given no time or idea of how long our wait would be. This was very disappointing as we have always enjoyed this Joia. The food may be good, but the service of this employee dealing with the line was horrendous. Rude and condescending and dismissive to paying customers. Hope this improves greatly or this employee is no longer there the next time we come, if we even decide to again.

Joia on Main is great! Awesome service, cozy vibes, and dinner thats downright delicious! From start to finish, they nailed it. Highly recommend this spot on Main Street. Its just as good as the Aurora location, but still seems like a totally different place!!! Cant wait to go back!

We had the worst experience here! My mother had been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time, so I made reservations for my family of 8 people, for her birthday. The manager and I exchanged emails and I confirmed the reservation. My mother drove two hours and arrived first. The hostess turned her away saying that there was no reservation and that shed have to wait for two hours. When i arrived, I showed the hostess the emails and she shrugged her shoulders saying she didnt know. I said that my mother had left so we cant be seated and the hostess again shrugged her shoulders and said oh well. I asked her how I can avoid this issue in future, if I wanted to make a new reservation for next weekend. The hostess said you cant because we dont take reservations after this weekend. I got upset and said I dont understand how my reservation got forgotten this weekend and then your telling me that if I want to come back next weekend I have to wait in line for two hours. The hostess replied pretty much. I left, and tried to reach the restaurant but did not get an answer. I emailed the manager that I had spoken with originally but did not get a reply. I can completely understand mistakes because things happen but you would think that they would be apologetic, and allow me to reserve a spot to make up for the missed one. Not to mention the incredibly rude service that we got at the door. I guess that this place doesnt need the business. It worked out because we discovered an even better restaurant called Luna. We wont be returning to Joia as wed rather give the business to a restaurant that cares.

I had high hopes for this place but was extremely disappointed. The pizza crust definitely came out of a freezer because it tasted freezer burnt and it wasn t much of a margarita pizza but more of a cheese pizza with a sprinkle of basil, and the pizza was cold when it came to the table, the cheese had already set and was tough, and the service was slow and paid no mind to us, we had three different servers come to us because nobody was there to take our orders, not to mention the table being dirty when we were sat and they came to clean it while we were sitting there. I can understand why this place has 4 stars

The WORST experience here this past weekend. Weve come here regularly over the years. The food is ok, but we found the staff to be very rude, particularly the hostess. The management seem very poor and disorganized. I wouldnt return.

Very disappointed in the meal. The penne was very plain, and too salty. The menu stated there was pancetta in it; but there wasn t. It was just boiled penne with salty sauce. All I could taste was the salt. The waitress said the pancetta was cooked in the sauce, but that s not what was stated on the menu. I won t be returning here as the service was not great and I was not given an option to switch out my meal after not enjoying the first few bites.

We were eager to try Joia on Main St Newmarket as Joia in Aurora has always been amazing. It was a big let down. The first red flag was that they didn t take reservations. The service was painfully slow. It felt like we were forgotten. The menu wasn t great and the food was bland. We wanted to order dessert but we couldn t stand to wait any longer. We just wanted to leave. We went elsewhere for dessert.

The service was amazing they didnt bother you or rush us out. The mussels were terrible. But the chaquterie board and pizza was amazing. The house white was also very delicious.

After a lengthy wait and a obviously terrible experience! Joia is gone from one of my favourite venues to a total disaster! After finding a cockroach on the floor in the washroom I was told oh well the river runs through it! My glass of wine was thrown on the table! The pizza was follpy and slightly mushy! My complaint was ignored and when I ask for a refund I was totally shocked to hear in no way am I giving you everything! When I phoned to day same thing

Been to this restaurant twice will NEVER be going back. First visit, ordered a seafood app description says calamari, shrimp and fish. What I got: calamari and 2 pcs of shrimp. Had I known, I would ve ordered calamari and saved myself $5. Server had been to our table maybe twice, we were seated on the patio and had to go inside to get condiments, etc. Second visit, my mom s pasta was dry clearly did not have enough sauce. I asked our server for sauce and was told it ll be an extra charge. My toddler walked over to his grandma and the server who was going 50 miles an hour bumped him. And she asked me if I want a high chair or a booster. Are you kidding me??! Are customers not allowed to walk and leave their seats??! Same server was also almost yelling at a customer excuse me because the customer was standing by the bar talking to someone. But customer was there first and the server could ve just gone the other way to walk through. Such a shame coz the vibe here is really nice. But the food is mediocre and service is horrible.

Disappointing diner. the pizza and salad were good but these are preludes to the main. I took in their signature dish, veal with a wild mushrooms and marsala wine sauce. The meal itself tasted decent enough, if not just a little too salty. However, the wild mushrooms were regular sliced button mushrooms, and the sauce had no hint of marsala that I could decern. It did have an acidic taste as if wine or vinegar had been added. Ive had marsala mushroom sauces before, I love its flavours. This version was most disappointing and falsely advertised.

Very cute atmosphere, our food was great! I particular enjoyed the apple salad - it was delicious. There was a bit of confusion with our servers where I don t think there was communication on where we were at with our course. We had finished appetizers but another server brought us the dessert menu. Then another server came and took our cutlery away before our mains. It wasn t too bad but a little . I would come again!

The three of us all enjoyed the food. I had the fusili pasta special, done in oil and garlic. It was superb. Service was attentive and not invasive. My only warning: the acoustics in the outdoor patio area are bad: it was a strain to converse.

Flat drinks, unfriendly staff .

Always a great time here. Patio season does not disappoint with cover bands performing directly in front of the patio on Thursdays. Servers are personable and efficient, getting you what you need in a timely manner. Caesar and calamari are always a staple to my order and the sauce with the mussels was amazing. They had a tomahawk on their specials menu and it was amazing and stuffer 4 people. Be sure to try this restaurant if you re looking for a great evening in Newmarket Vegetarian options: Yup! I don t think they offer protein options but they do have pasta, pizza and salad options Dietary restrictions: Very knowledgeable with dietary restrictions and always accommodate my gluten allergy Kid-friendliness: Yup! Amazing food, just spectacular.

My husband and I just left tonight after dinner. We came here for my birthday dinner just us two and we re so disappointed. Our appetizers took a good 50 min, for just soup and mussels. And our main dish took another hour we were there for almost 3 hours. I complained to the manager and she blamed it on the head chef being gone, after I told her it was my birthday and what not, nothing was offered until I told her we weren t paying for our appetizers and wanted to cancel our main dishes. Only then did she offer to give us the apps for free, not even offering any sort of happy birthday, or little free dessert for making us wait so long. Saw other tables looking annoyed and food taking way too long. Food wasn t even that great. Better restaurants and service elsewhere. Won t be coming back.

Food arrived very quickly which is always a bad sign. I had a $50 steak and asked for medium cook and received a well-done steak. I couldnt really taste the beef as it was loaded with so much salt. The vegetables/potatoes tasted so stale, as though they had been cooked hours before and were reheated just before serving. The only nice thing about this restaurant was the patio.

RUN away in the opposite direction if you are thinking of going ..horrible horrible expérience. Just super unacceptable! + 1.5 hr wait for a plate of « 6 small home made ravioli w/ super salty Gorgonzola sauce », one basic dry pizza, and a plate of spaghetti plus one 75$ bottle of wine . $220 later for execrable food. I can t believe we spent/wasted that amount of money. Not even a piece of bread offered during that long wait, not an apology and I kid you not, she slammed the bottle of wine after pouring our glasses and made us jump off our seats while we waited that insane long amount of time. This level of atrocious service and bad experience was unacceptable Considering the restaurant had emptied out No further comment required. I hope they go out of business or shape up big time because this is straight out highway robbery the Thursday concerts must be saving their business. What an embarrassment to Italian cuisine.

Excellent location in Newmarket. Patio space is great dueing summer, lots of people enjoying it. Pizza was good. Grilled octpus was small for the pricem and not sure why the restaurant would say it opens at 11:30 when kitchen is only ready at 12:00.

Lovely greeting as we entered by Samara. Very nice server, Rachel. All in all a nice experience, given it was our first time. Did not appreciate having TVs in a fine dining restaurant. They have wines that are in the 3 digit range. Music also was a little loud. We came to relax . We both had the Vitelli Marsala, it was excellent. Served with vegetables which nice and hot. Wine prices are exceptionally high, so we opted for 2 small beers.

We were met by Sam who led us to our table, just a lovely approach. Rachel was our server, also very attentive and quick. The food was really delicious. The wine list is extensive with some VERY HIGH END and expensive wines. That led us to believe this was a mid to high end restaurant. The televisions were very off-putting. This makes it feel like an expensive sports bar with better than sports bar food. If that is what you are looking for, you will really love it here. If you are looking for a nice Italian restaurant with an ambience, you might try somewhere else. The location is wonderful. Kid-friendliness: They must be kid friendly because we had to walk around a childs ride in car, the larger battery operated type. They were allowed to park next to their table.

Food was ok . Asked to sub marinara instead of the seafood sauce for the calimari they said chef will not do it. So we asked for a side of marinara and it was going to be an extra $1. Ridiculous its like paying for ketchup for your fries. They should be embarrassed to charge for that.

Everything was terrible their service was horrible and their employees were rude I will never go there again.

First time at this restaurant today, gave this place a shot regardless of some poor reviews. However, poor service overall. The waitress that served us had a rude demeanour throughout our entire meal. Perhaps the owner should treat their staff better bc she was not happy to work or better professionalism from staff. Food was ok, nothing special. Spent $120 here, probably won t go back.

Attended a surprise 40th birthday party on Saturday in the upstairs room all the food served was delicious including the two options for dessert atmosphere was welcoming and cozy . Everyone attending had a wonderful evening along with their children the surprised 40 year old, especially, enjoyed all her friends and family who helped with the surprise celebration.. just stopped in for a quick dessert and cafe . Tiramisu was really good, the Brulee was one of the best I have ever had, espresso was good too. Will be back for dinner another time, The menu has your classic Italian dishes Food

Had a wonderful experience for our work Christmas party. An exceptional spread of antipastos, bruschetta, calamari, accompanied by a wonderful steak dinner and tiramisu for dessert. A great place to host a party.

Joia on Main was the perfect location for a Christmas Party we celebrated there. Staff accommodated all of our requests, the environment was festive and the menu was exceptional. A great team of staff. Will definitely be back.

So disappointed, wait staff looked like they all hated their jobs and reflected their service, The food was 1 out 10. I cant believe that they have a big pizza oven and they dont even make their own pizza dough it was a pita warmed in the oven. Pasta selection was minimal and hardly any selection on menu. Pretty sure the chicken on my pizza was processed and prepackaged and no flavour. Not worth a second chance.

Server said veggies would be seasonal such as carrots potatoes etc. They were actually asparagus and what looked like weeds. Would not have chosen this dish if I had known the actual foods, the pickerel was good. Server needs to be in another line of work !

We originally booked a reservation at The Keg but they kept giving away our table. So we decided to try out Joia and it was fantastic. The manger was so nice and made sure we were seated within minutes of getting there without a reservation. Food was amazing and the service was fabulous. It s now our new favourite spot!

We went last week as part of our Christmas celebration, the waiter was extremely rude to explain one of the incidents. My wife ordered pizza and soup < dont know why but the soup was horrible> , pizza was okay... she couldnt continue the pizza so she asked for a container, the same waiter went and got her the smallest container he could find, she politely asked for a bigger one , the waiter said cant you fold your pizza! Like really???!!! The other people joining avoided asking him anything throughout the night because of his attitude. We went few times to joia, this time was the worst.

Really disappointed with this beautiful place. Our waiter was very cold. She wasnt welcoming at all not even a smile. She left us for 40 mins without checking in. We had to ask if they forgot about us. The waiter came back and was snappy and told us she timed it and it hasnt that long. When we ask to speak to the manager she said she was the manager and was very rude and said theyre is nothing they will do about it. On top of it the seafood linguini had a bad mussel. The rest of the food was good but the service left a bad taste in my mouth.
