130 Davis Dr Unit D1-2, Newmarket, ON L3Y 2M9, Canada
The Suya Spot not just a restaurant but home of Suyanation. Established in 2006 by Taiwo Ajala (Popularly called Tee) from the back of a van to the locations we see today.
I ordered a pan of the small beef Suya for thanksgiving and that was the best Suya I have had from this spot. Quantity was worth the price 100%. Keep up the good work sir!
I am relatively new, I was chatting with my Uber man and he told me about the Nigerian Restaurant in Newmarket when he realized I was Nigerian, he volunteered to take me there and when I got in there, the ambience was amazing with the lovely art on the walls and a display of the Edo culture. Oh I had Egusi and poundo, I wanted more 🤣🤣🤣 that is my go to!
Great authentic food, great service, great music, great vibes! Was our first time and looking forward to returning. Would recommend.
The Suya Spot offers authenic Nigerian food with a wide selection of dishes. Their spinach and ogbono soup is very flavorful and tastes amazing. Suya meat can be pretty dry at times but it is still edible; apart from that the stews with your preferred choice of meat are packed with flavour. It is the best western African restaurant in the northern GTA.
$20 for ~ cup of rice and 2 tiny pieces of chicken with barely any meat on it. And it was BLAND!!!! $20.. robbery. 1st time being here, first impression: terrible. Won't be back
I got some plantain at Suya spot restaurant Newmarket. It’s was delicious and the pepper sauce was amazing. I will definitely go back❤️
I don't normally do this but I have to. Firstly, for the vegetable soup I order, the person needs to learn how to cook vegetable soup. The jollof rice of $25 is too small. I haven't tasted the Jollof rice no comment. Next time I will follow the review chat before ordering anything
I’ve been to a couple suya spots throughout the GTA Scarborough and Weston rd locations but today I was disappointed with this Newmarket location. I called in to order the beef suya and fried yam. The gentleman on the phone said 20 mins. I got there roughly 28 mins after I spoke to him. No one was inside just music playing I waited about 5 mins no one still at the counter so I knocked the door which says employees only and someone comes out. They ask me what I ordered and so I tell them, they said a few more mins so I should sit down and wait… ok this is now roughly 35mins since the initial 20mins… I sat down for another 10mins until my food came out… when I got home I was disappointed in my beef suya… it was dried out and taste hard… the fried yam was good. It is a new location so I will give some time before I head back
Shocked at how small the portion sizes are compared to the price.
The food here is really good. Thanks
Clean and quaint place tucked in the corner of the plaza. I usually go there about once a month. Highly recommend the chicken and the gizzard.
First time visiting Suya Spot, ordered Jolof rice combo with chicken, tried vita malt for the first time. I have friends from Ghana that I grew up with as kids, Suya Spot brought back childhood memories of my friends parents making Jolof for us when I visited for sleepovers and played PS2 with them
Walked in to great music, staff came in smiling and took our order fast. We ordered beef, assorted and goat suya , with jollof rice, and plantain on the side . The meal was hot and delicious! I loved the beef and goat meat! Tasted just like authentic suya from back home! It came with a good portion of shredded cabbage and onion mix and suya pepper on the side so you can control how spicy you want it . Threw the meal back with some chilled malt and had such a good time. Give it a try!
Save yourself the time and eat somewhere else. In fact, just stay home & make your own food. I ordered my meal online. When I arrived , I was told my order was not received as they d been experiencing system issues. I then had to wait 20 minutes for them to make the order. Hungry & tired, I finally got my meal and went home to eat. As I started digging in, I found a piece of hair / fabric in the egusi. When I called to let them know, I was asked if I could drive all the way back. I said no as it would be very inconvenient for me. When I asked for a refund, I was told they don t issue refunds. Nothing was done to compensate the issue, not even an apology. A terrible experience, a sheer waste of time and money.
Superlative. Had pounded yam and egusi soup. I am very picky and my meals must be palatial...this one is. Food
Finally I got naija restaurant in newmarket and its all you dont want to keep missing naija delicious meal... Im surprised my canadian friend wants more...
Fast deliveries and good food
Highly disappointing experience! Spoke with a guy and was quoted $150 for a platter of jollof rice with plantain and chicken on the side. They asked for a deposit because people did not pick up after ordering, that s fine. On the day of delivery the price on the receipt price was $290. Why was this price not shared over the phone? We could do nothing but give them the money. Even if the price could be justified with the portion, why tell us one price and then blindside us with another. The dishonesty is disheartening because I really wanted to support a Nigerian business in Newmarket. The rice ended up being bland, dry and undercooked. I was excited to share my Nigerian culture through food with my workplace. Instead I was left feeling ashamed and cheated. Will not be returning to this place.
It s new and unique, it s also delicious! Give it a shot, you ll be glad you did.
Was over $50 for 2 people portions and taste does not justify the cost. Felt unsatisfied after eating there. Had goat and chicken Suya.
My son went to this spot to purchase suya for me to celebrate Mothers day; he called me from there and I ordered what I wanted. I specifically asked them to give me suya with the pepper. However, they sent me suya with no suya pepper; just roared meat and onion. When I called to complain, the person was rude and nonchalant. This is a terrible place to order suya. It is not suya without the suya pepper. Save your money if you are looking for the Nigerian type suya.
Egusi soup with pounded yam was amazing! And the jollof rice was so flavourful! Will definitely be back!!!
New and good, great service amazing food. Love the jollofRice and beef suya.
Very nice place. Good food.
Delicious and well prepared African top tier dishes and of course SUYA! Parking: The Value Village Food : 5/5 |
My daughter and I just purchased Suya at this Newmarket location and I can t even wait to finish eating it before leaving my review. I saw this place about a month ago while shopping nearby, but I haven t bought anything until now. This Suya just makes me feel like I am in Nigeria right now. . It is very very delicious. I have not eaten suya for more than 10 years and this is top notch. I have to take my friends to this place.
It was an amazing experience, supper clean place , great food all over experience was great .
My mom and I went to try today and had a very disappointing experience. We went inside and the people working didn t even acknowledge us to say hi or welcome. The one lady was chatting with someone and ignored us. We walked out before even ordering because the customer service was so poor. Disappointing because we were excited to support but the customer service needs to be better.
Great food great service ! Late night destination
Enjoyed the suya..welcome to newmarket
Amazing franchise , clean food , clean atmosphere. loveeeeee it
