What can I say? Great food. Wait staff are ESL speakers but all very kind and helpful. And a great redesign after minor fire damage. I love the all-you-can-eat sushi!

The most recent 4 out of 5 times Ive called to order take out from this place recently (since covid happened) I ended up having to wait more than twice the amount of time that they told me. Im 100% sympathetic to the fact that things happen and orders can get delayed but based from the consistency of the occurance and the countless reviews here saying pretty much the same thing, this is just unacceptable. They are at over capacity, theyre aware of it but theyre also too greedy to let you know about it Today i went to pick up an order which they told me would take 30 mins. Already knowing whats going to happen, I showed up after 45 mins instead, only for one the employees to tell me that the order isnt ready because I only called a few minutes ago... I then corrected her and said no I called 45 mins ago and she went in to check, then came back to tell me the order will be ready in a few minutes. Of course now I know based on experience that this is obviously a lie so I called her out on it and asked for real how long Id have to wait and she said ok ok for real its actually 10-15 minutes. At this time another gentlemen customer also told the same employee that hes been waiting for 20 minutes outside the door after being told his order would only take a moment. Not that I needed this to confirm my suspicion, but now I know for a fact that theyre just blatantly giving fake time estimates for your orders. Thats why if you go around dinner time theres generally a line out the door. Those poor people all came on time but will still be told to wait a few more minutes while their order isnt even being prepared yet and they wait another who knows how long. Basically theyre lied to twice in a single visit. When winter comes, this just a few more minutes lie will mean that people will be standing out in the cold rather than in their vehicles. I called out the girl again and asked why this keeps happening and she literally started laughing and blamed it on her coworker whos in charge of the scheduling. If anyones wondering why I keep coming back if this keeps happening, the simple reason is because its close to where I live and to be fair the food is decent. But im drawing the line now, and the next time this happens, Im taking off without notice and I encourage everyone to do the same. Sushi Jun is only about a 5 minutes drive from this place. Theyre a MUCH smaller restaurant, only capable of sitting maybe 6-8 people at max if dine ins are allowed and theyre also always drowning in take out orders these days They do however give accurate time estimates every single time, even if the wait is going to be over an hour long. 100% respect to those guys. To the owner: Dont give me your generic sorry for the wait, it was rush hour reply that you seem to give everyone. You know exactly what youre doing and its trashy. If it werent for my family members who keeps ordering from you, Id never set foot there again. I have never wished for a business to fail so bad.

Great tasting food. It is always a pleasure to visit Golden Maki. The food never disappoints. Service was excellent as always. I ordered salmon lover combo and lunch pick 3 combo. I enjoyed every bite. Will be visiting again soon.

This was a fantastic experience. We both walked out comfortably full and wearing big smiles. The food was fresh, tasty and perfectly seasoned. Parking: Long line of parking spots available just outside the door.

Cozy ayce sushi. Fresh fish, the sushi had plenty of variety, salmon, white & red tuna, mackerel, snapper. Going back again For dessert, dont forget the deep fried tempura Oreo and mars, both were awesome!

Terrible experience. I ve been sitting here waiting for 50 mins at all you can eat for my order. Place was not busy when we got here and got busy. We have watched multiple tables get food before us that came in after we did. Not to mention we have asked politely multiple times for our food. When we left they wanted us to pay for all you can eat when we didn t get any food, horrible customer service. Would not let us talk to the manager and continued to tell us the food was coming when it was not. Ended up having to pay for the house special appetizer that we didn t even order and was just given. Do not recommend this place. There are a ton of sushi restaurants in the area, try one of them before coming here. By far the worst dining experience I have ever had at any restaurant.

All you can eat is fantastic. Delicious and great presentation. However, they did miss 5 items we ordered, and with Sashimi, they only brought 2 instead of the 4 we ordered. Other than that, we will go back. Soup is good and service is friendly.

I absolutely love this place!!! Best sushi in Newmarket and Aurora and Georgina. The quality is amazing, size portion is great. My family and I have been coming here for 4 years now, and I won t even think of going anywhere else. Family feel, clean environment. They always make us feel welcome. Consistently delicious and reasonably priced. Many places tend to be a hit or miss, sometimes good sometimes terrible. As many times as we had Golden Maki we always receive exactly what we are expecting. Great place for take out and dine in.

Went for all you can eat Sushi with my wife on a Saturday night at around 6pm. The service was awesome with constant water and Tea refills. We weren t sure how fast the food would come out so we just ordered some items and then continued looking through the menu. The food came fast, faster than I thought considering the place was pretty full and had non-stop pick up orders coming in. Everything tasted awesome and was fresh. They even brought around some chefs special rolls to get started at the beginning. We will be coming back. Total dining time was about an hour.

Ordered Golden Maki for the first time this past weekend for my bday and accidentally came a few hours before my pickup time but they made my platter right away and even got us waters while we waited! lovely establishment with good prices and kind people!

The sushi was fantastic. The service was a little slow. We ordered off the menu instead of all you can eat so we had to order through the waitress instead of the iPad. Good quality sushi. I would return.

The food was absolutely amazing. The only issue we had was servers bringing us some foods we had not ordered and entire second order being forgotten. Polite service though.

Food was pretty good, but the staff is pretty slow with getting the food out...or even not at all, or giving food to wrong table (twice). I dont think its worth $39.99/person for lunch.

I love everything about this place and we go here often. My only constructive criticism would be that I would like to see a tiny bit more options in the lunch, as comparative places in Vaughan and Richmond Hill offer more for $27.99/person. Other than that, it s great in every way. The learn towards to healthy sushi, with moderate rice, plenty of topics, veggies, little grease and a lot of flavour. We always order for lunch: hand rolls, salad, miso, beef udon, avocado anything, mushrooms rolls (5+ the best) and sushi. Cheese wontons are great too. I highly highly recommend.

Hours of operation is incorrect. Waited for 10 min past 11am on Saturday still not opened. Very disappointed, went elsewhere.

Food was decent for AYCE. Though the price is a bit expensive, but I guess it is expected after COVID inflation. I would go again since there are very good acceptable AYCE sushi in the Aurora/Newmarket area. We order with a tablet, so we dont have to wait to place our order in with a server, however the service is on the slower side .

So many choices, from Maki to Tempura, from Beef teriyaki to fresh Sushi, everything was cooked to perfection, presentation was simple but elegant. We have got takeout a few times from this place. There sushi is delicious, tempura is awesome prices are very reasonable and their staff are kind and friendly. They even added a free miso soup and small salad to our order complimentary. Highly recommend!

Went today 2nd time but 1st time bringing my kids. The food was super tasty and lots of variety... Service wishes to be better - ladies working there are not smiling, seem very impatient... but worst of all, you place orders for your quantities, but when the food comes, some things are missing and some quantities are diminished...as if theyre silently telling you youve had enough and its time to wrap up... Us, customers, are paying quite a bit of money to have their food and the least they can do is satisfy people by serving requested amounts. Will definitely think about going back or suggesting them to others. Repeat visit...whole family.. great food, but again, a few items that we ordered never made to our table...same as before... $200 with tip for a family of 4 and still missing items... Another repeat visit - keeping prices high throughout the whole week but their menu options and the portion sizes became very poor and ridiculously small. Theyre still limiting quantities ordered without saying anything - I ordered 15 pieces of surf clam sashimi and received only 9; ordered 2 separate orders of 10 grilled shrimps and the 2nd order never came. Their AYCE is not anywhere near worth $38.99. We gave them more than enough chances but after this time we decided to cut ties to them completely. As the old saying goes: there are plenty of fish in the sea... Thats too bad

I came here twice with a few relatives before and I was hoping to have a good experience here. This restaurant was alright to go to for one thing seating is good and there is a nice atmosphere around and music is fun too. The food is almost or otherwise perfect and I enjoyed all of it, they have just about every thing from the regular not too expensive sushi restaurants and it all tasted good and also they have tea and deserts there. I would give it a more true 4.5\5 rating here, and the servers are nice to you and helpful. I recommend this place to every one interested in eating at a restaurant that has what you expect for its cost! Also we had a free special delight dish and sorry I have no pictures to show more but better for your selves you see what you will experience here. I will say I will come there again no exceptions.

This is a weird review for me. The food was awesome. Absolutely loved it. The ambience and decor were lovely. The disconnect for me was the absolutely atrocious service. Of the several servers, one smiled. The primary server seemed irritated we were there, threw tablet on table, made no effort to welcome us at all, and no eye contact whatsoever. Snappy one word responses. No sense of hospitality at all. The food and the price was was fitting. But the major turn off was, being made to feel like we werent wanted there. Absolutely bizarre.

Great food and service!

Have been here several times and happy to have found this place after recently moving to the area. The sushi is fresh and yummy, I ve tried almost all the different rolls and each one is delicious. They also come presented nicely on a glass tray. Appetizers like the gyoza, shrimp tempura and chicken teriyaki are flavourful. The servers are also really nice, have a smile and interact. Definitely recommend

i think i might have gone on a bad day, but it was extremely busy and the sushi was literally warm which was unpleasant. i believe i ate some bad salmon sashimi or some bad BBQ eel. the quality of the food looked different than the pictures in these reviews. my dinner also ended up being over $40 for all of that :(

Very good Maki rolls. Only issue we always have is waiting time. When we place phone order we always ask how long it takes and usually they say 20 min but unfortunately most times we waited 40 min up to 1.5 hours. Just be honest so we dont have to come so early and just wait.

Great selection, sushi is fresh, good and friendly service. Golden Maki is now our favorite sushi spot. The tempura oreos for dessert were incredible, you will want to come back for them.

If you want fresh, good tasting sushi, you re better off going to Sobeys, this was the worst sushi experience I ve had in my life, and for 96 dollars before the tip? Definitely would not suggest going here, there s a McDonald s in the same parking lot you d get fresher food at. We couldn t even finish the first order of sushi we placed.

*WARNING* NOT SAFE FOR CELIACS Took my mother and sister out for Fathers day dinner and while the food was pretty good and the restaurant itself was cute, this place is not safe at all if you have gluten intolerances we mentioned it to staff at the very beginning and were advised that the tempura is not safe (some places do it with rice tempura, they did not here and they used wheat flower in the batter) this is fine we ordered mostly sashimi and a few rolls we thought would be safe from tempura. They dont have any descriptions as to what is in the rolls so we had to go off of the picture. They literally put tempura on almost everything! Pretty much all the rolls had it, we ordered the herbed tuna which looked nothing like the photo and had bits of tempura sprinkled all over it, there was even tempura sprinkled on the dish with all the sashimi. Sadly my mum could have none of the rolls, and tried to wipe off as much tempura as she could but she was so sick for the rest of the day and the next day. So if you are a celiac, definitely avoid this place!!

I wont lie the food at Golden Maki is amazing, the prices arent terrible either especially if youre doing all you can eat. However, the servers were rude, ignoring us, giving us our bill before we even started desert. Seemed like they really wanted us outta there. But if you want to try something great, I really liked the cheese wontons and the California rolls but this review has two stars because of the terrible service. Especially Cindy who was rude for no reason at all

We were in Newmarket a couple of days ago and decided to go for all you can eat sushi at Golden Maki. I havent been there in about 5 years. Well, it wont be that long again. Their food is amazing. Good ingredient to rice ratio. Nothing overpowers anything else. You can taste each fresh ingredient. What really stood out for me and I ordered it every time we submitted an order was the Volcano Spicy Roll in the Special Rolls section. Its rice paper with salmon. avocado, crabmeat and crispy topped with the spicy sauce. It sticks to the plate and to each other but the battle to get it to your plate in one piece is worth it. The spicy sauce is not that spicy so if you like just a little bit its perfect but if you like a bit spicier then go for the wasabi. it is tasty and has the kick you might be looking for. I was so excited to eat everything that I completely forgot to take pictures of the food we ordered. The service was quick, friendly and helpful. There was a steady flow of customers for both dine in and take out. The majority of dine in customers were enjoying the all you can eat lunch menu. They have a new iPad ordering system which is very easy to use once you get the hang of it. There is no waiting for someoone to pick up your order, it goes straight from the iPad to the kitchen. Besides being very efficient it was nice to be able to see what you ordered previously so it was easy to reorder. Unfortunately, we were there for lunch and sashimi is only available for dinner. We will definitely return for the dinner menu. I absolutely recommend this place in the Leslie and Davis area of Newmarket.

I am sorry to make this review because we have ordered from this restaurant for years. However, the past month the person taking our order on the phone has been extremely rude, yells at us, mixes up orders then throws the food at us. I dont understand what has happened but I can no longer give a good review.

Went in today and never experienced such poor service. The lady working and 3 gentleman working behind the bar none acknowledge you. The lady busy working with another employee. Finally ask me rudely what I was there for. I said pick up. No response and she walks away. 13 minutes she hand me the food. I try giving her feedback to acknowledge people when they enter and communicate the wait. She just rudely did not respond turned her back and walked away. If service is that bad. I wonder the quality of food. She did not even wash her hand when packing food after working by the pop cooler with another employee prior to going behind the sushi bar without washing her hand or earring a hairnet. I am actually nauseous from this experience

Not impressed at all! I ordered through DoorDash and I only received one set of chopsticks. The rolls are falling apart, the taste it s whatever First and last time ordering. Sorry

Best Ever

I gave one star for the following reasons: 1. When I called to place the order the lady who picked up the phone was so rushed and even hung up on me before I even finished my sentences. 2. The sushi or maki rolls of the party trays that I ordered were loose so when I picked them up using chopsticks they were falling apart.
