One of the most fantastic soups I ve ever had, and I ve had a lot of soup! Super friendly, fantastic service the meals were just awesome flavours just danced!

We really enjoyed the food here! The owner May was very kind and able to accommodate my wife s dietary requirements (gluten and nut free). The restaurant was clean and a casual setting. I tried take out of the veg Hakka noodles and veg fried rice, quantity is perfect and less oily food compared to other other asian restaurants.

Friends recommended this restaurant and we are so glad we went to try it. It is spotlessly clean. The lady owner was so friendly and helpful with ordering. We had crispy vegetable spring rolls, Pad Thai, Hakka chili chicken and chicken fried rice. It was delicious. The chicken was lean and tender. We had enough to take leftovers home. We got 1* spicy instead of 2* extremely spicy and it was good. Enough heat to feel your tongue tingling but not burning hot to be uncomfortable. The menu had a good variety of interesting dishes. We will definitely be coming back.

Good food, good service good value. They care about their customers, and listen to them its a notion thats not common in this industry anymore. Great value.

Very disappointed with the food. The fried rice and the noodles had too much soy sauce in it. Was too salty, had to throw out.

Such good food

The quality of the food here is highly inconsistent sometimes you get a decent meal, but more often than not, it s subpar. During my last visit, the food was particularly disappointing, and when I politely mentioned this to the staff, the response was shockingly unprofessional. The lady in charge responded in a manner that made me feel like I was being treated as a beggar, telling me to take my bill and leave if I wasn t satisfied. The poor customer service is only part of the problem. Upon entering the restaurant, there s a noticeable foul smell that makes the entire dining experience unpleasant from the start. It s a shame because the restaurant has potential, but with the erratic food quality, unwelcoming atmosphere, and rude service, it s hard to recommend this place to anyone.

We ate there for dinner with my son and my friend. We loved it! The food was very good, full of flavour. So many different items to choose from. The service was excellent. Very friendly! We will definitely be back for some more tasty food! Mango Chicken and Hakka Chilli Chicken was our favorite.

We got catering done from spicy island on sunday and May was exceptionally courteous. The food was delicious and amazing Quantity. We still have leftover chicken, noodle and rice that we will again enjoy tonight. Easy to deal with, May recommended th dishes and my guests went home full stomach & happy. Highly recommended. Also, a big thank for your complimentary veg rolls, they were gone in minutes!!

I was looking forward to the pad Thai after all the reviews I read but I was so disappointed . We ordered take out and it was literally just the rice noodles thrown into a container with some sauce poured on top. wet with no taste.

Im so happy I found and tried Spicy Island. There was no good pad Thai places on the east side of Newmarket other than the chain Thai places which are ok but not great. The pad Thai at Spicy Island was awesome. I will definitely be returning!

Food was good but the only thing we were shocked by was that the worker seemed annoyed and commented that we ordered online for our takeout to pickup not directly from their website but from a food delivery platform And everyone in the restaurant heard Lol I get that maybe they get charged a fee obviously but our bad I guess?? We didn t know how to respond

Loved all of our dishes and would recommend T8 highly if you like spicy and Thai curry. The sweet and sour pineapple shrimp and the vermicelli dish were also incredible! Cant go wrong with pad Thai, wontons, wonton soup or anything on this menu!

Really good food and service.

Very poor quality food. Makes me think that every review they have is fake or they paid for. This joint does not deserve more than 1.5 stars. I can tell this place is not Thai the pad Thai dish that I ordered was the worst I ve ever had. I ate three bites of my $20 meal and threw it out. Woke up the next day with an awful stomach pain and the runs. Stay away from this joint. Big regrets.

Takeout was piping hot, fresh and the staff was super nice. Is a hidden gem for straight up yummy Chinese takeout. Will definitely be repeat customers.

I go to this place on my lunch time atleast once a week, The owners are very friendly people and the food was amazing. I had Chill chicken and fried rice and it was very tasty and yummy. A week before I Had the chicken fried rice and it is very good and would recommend this place for your lunch/dinner time. Very reasonable price too

I LOVE Spicy Island, so different from all the other take outs we have had, I gave up ordering take out until my husband brought home Spicy Island food. The Spices are perfect, very clean, not the lard feeling left in your mouth, soups, General Tao, Veggie Tofu, all so good. The owner was so friendly and so appreciative, I wish them nothing but the best. They for sure will have our business, wont go else where!

Chicken Ginger Soup... we will return to Spicy Island over and over just for this soup. Have never seen this soup on any menu before. If you like Ginger, it is a must try. Sounds simple but the flavour is amazing, the white meat chicken is unbelievably tender and moist! This soup would be very healing for anyone with a cold. The dumplings were small but very tasty, and the Hot & Sour Shrimp and Vegetables dish was delicious, but we would order this with the rice separate next time as it soaked up all the tasty sauce so not much was left on the shrimp. Hubby loved the Chilli Paneer and Manchurian Eggplant, because he loves Spicy food, if you want your dishes more or less spicy you should let them know. The owner is super nice as everyone has already mentioned. We will definitely be ordering again soon!

Spicy Island is simply delicious. The portions are more than generous and packed with flavour. It is a perfect balance of traditional and Canadian flavours. They have become my family s go to spot. We are so lucky to have them in our community.

The atmosphere lacks a little. But, any foodie knows a simple or less than fancy decor usually means amazing food! I only say lacks because the food is so good and I like a bougie decor. Always the most friendly hello from the lady at the front and the food is ON POINT!!!

Ik very dissatisfied, I tried the fried spring rolls their pricing and size is good and most people will probably like it I dont because it is plain, and after checking so many reviews the chilli chicken was very famous so I tried that and was super disappointed. It does not taste good, very plain it has a nice sourness and saltiness but no other flavours then that. It needs sweet and spice is very low I personally didnt taste it. If they made it more sweet and cooked the green bell peppers in it better that would improve it they just added some raw green bell peppers in very big pieces.

This place just recently changed from Red Dragon Kitchen to Spicy Island. We ordered chili chicken, crispy ginger beef and shanghai noodles and they threw in two free pork spring rolls. All the food was delicious and well definitely order again.

Ginger beef was excellent. Chilli chicken could of used a little more heat. Had a bit of a sweet taste similar to sweet and sour pork. Will definitely be back to try other items. Restaurant looks nice inside.

We got a chicken curry with vegetables and a dish with beef spring rolls, chicken, vegetables and rice noodles. The food was delicious with generous portions and Mai, who served us, was very friendly and helpful. Definitely a must go.

Staff is phenomenal and food is amazing and also a great price

First and foremost, the service was wonderful. The Hakka Chilli chicken could have been spicier and there is an element of sweetness to it but it was still great. The curry rice noodles with chicken and shrimp were great as well. Looking forward to trying more dishes from here!

Workers were very nice they gave us a free bubble tea and 10% off our bill during our first visit and we met the Mayor of Newmarket while they were dining in the same spot as us 10/10 food and very polite service.

May is so lovely and welcoming. Met us at the door and introduced herself. The next time I came back she remembered my name and the third time yet again. We keep coming back for may and I can t get enough of the chili chicken. Goodness the food is good.

Nice clean place with good food and service. I went in for some spicy food and got the Pad Thai. It was interesting that the sauce was poured over the rice noodle instead of being stir-fried with the noodle. The owner let me know that it can be stir-fried together by request as well. It tastes great and I added the chilli sauce on the table for some added kick. Ill be back to try other dishes.

You have to go and eat here!! We got takeout - Singaporean noodles, chicken fried rice, and General Tao chicken. The portions are massive, the shrimp on the noodles was huge, and the taste for all the food is phenomenal. You open the container and can t wait to eat it. Smells and tastes absolutely divine!!!

First time ordering. Customer service was wonderful quick, and friendly. But the food was the highlight!! We ordered the chicken balls, which were the best we ve had, with lots of chicken in them. Fried rice was Delish, but the chicken and shrimp pad Thai was was heavenly! Great job. We will definitely go back. We were so happy we called the restaurant back to say Thank You!!

Loved everything about experience here. We had chicken and spring roll vermicelli with salad and peanuts, chicken chilli noodles, and pork dumplings. Food was flavourful and fresh. The owner was friendly and attentive. We will be back to try more from the menu.

The owner is very friendly, top service! Food is delicious, ordered the chili chicken and the fried rice. The chili chicken style is a bit different than usual but its delicious. Heads up that tea is extra charge (didnt know about it). Overall, its a good place. Will come back to try their other menu.

Ok listen up. This place is way over priced for the food there serving. I had the chili chicken here and was not impressed one bit. It was bland, way too expensive and had little to no spice. The people who reviewed the chili chicken that gave it a 5 star think that salt and pepper is hot. You can get way better hakka elsewhere with real spice for a third of the price. Save your money people...

I have been back here trying different dishes. My favorite is Thai basil beef on rice. I jusy tried the chili chicken noodle I believe it was called, and they did not skimp on the meat. I was actually trying to find more noodles!! The owner and service is always fantastic, the lady at the front is always so GENUINELY sweet and so cute! You can tell she loves to see people. Many restaurants could learn from her. She greets her customers without rush and is so kind. Will definitely be returning!

Such a delightful restaurant with super friendly owners. The pride they take in preparing and serving their delicious Thai and Cambodian dishes even comes through with takeout. I won t hesitate to visit again for a tasty and affordable lunch.

What a delightful restaurant! Delicious food, wonderful friendly service, easy parking. Have so far ordered only takeout. Once home, the food was still very hot & so tasty with generous portions. May s pride in her cooking is very apparent and so justified. Can t wait to try more items on her menu. What a fantastic addition to the Newmarket restaurant scene!

Excellent food and service. The Mango Salad was outstanding. It had chicken and shrimp. Very tasty. The Pad Thai was very flavourful. Portions are large. The Hot and Sour soup was excellent. But by far the service was friendly and very efficient.

We did take out, May, the owner was extremely helpful and friendly, we highly recommend the chicken and shrimp pad Thai with peanuts, Hakka chili chicken, and house fried rice with chicken, shrimp and beef. Will definitely order again.

Very fast and courteous service. We dealt with both of the owners and they were very friendly and attentive. We had to try the vegetable spring rolls which we had with chili Tai sauce and a wonton soup, both were really good with lots of flavour. The main dishes we had were the Chili chicken and fried rice and the beef stir fry. I tasted both and I preferred the beef stir fry over the Chili chicken. I found the beef stir fry has more robust flavour, but both dishes were still really tasty. Very open and clean restaurant with wheel chair access.

Super nice people who run this business. They did a great job accommodating my lower salt preference. Terrific food.

Ordered some takeout from this restaurant and loved it. The beef basil was spicy and the beef was perfectly cooked. The green curry was very flavourful. Will definitely be coming here more often.

The lady behind the counter was very sweet and extremely pleasant to deal with. I had the Beef Thai Basil & Chilli Pepper with rice, and it was absolutely delicious. This restaurant really went above and beyond. They actually delivered the food to my door when I called to let them know they mixed up my order. They are friendly. The food portion is good for 2 people and its delicious. My toddler loved the popcorn chicken or pakora. Definitely going back for more hakka food!!!!!

If I could, Id give more than 5 stars. I was travelling through with my mom and aunt, and found the restaurant through Google Maps -we chose to stop based on the ratings. The food was great, and the service was better! Both of the people we met were so friendly. And I was able to order anything on the menu because it can all be modified for spice level. If you cant handle too spicy, just tell them, and theyll take care of everything. Well be returning to try more of the menu.

Friendly people, big food portions and quick service.

Recently drove by the Leslie/Davis Dr area and saw this restaurant so decided to support locals rather than going to the usual chains around. Owners are super friendly and food was ready when I arrived for the pick up. Ordered lunch specials of L3 chicken and shrimp Pad Thai and L4 Grill Chicken & Spring Roll vermicelli and both are delicious and flavourful. Room for improvements like the food can be hotter as I prefer piping hot dishes during winter and the noodles from the Pad Thai can be fried a bit longer. Will definitely try out other dishes next time!

Fantastic food, great service! We really enjoy the varieties offered in flavour and spice from this Hakka, Cantonese and Thai menu. We sometimes come back more than once per week, it is that good! And everyone in the family has choices they love. Often we order a little more so we have leftovers to take home for the next day. The food is served hot, in reasonable time, and with great service and pride. Weve brought several friends with us to share the experience, and they all want to come back! We cant recommend it enough. One of our new favourites in Newmarket! Vegetarian options: While we are meat lovers, we do enjoy vegetarian options, and they both offer some menu choices and will accommodate vegetarian adjustments. Dietary restrictions: We have peanut allergies and some food sensitivities, and they always pay close attention and are very respective and careful with food preparation. For those liking more or less spice, they do accommodate your tastes. Parking: We never have issues with parking, there is always a lot of it. The parking lot and plaza is not really that busy.

I order takeout from here maybe once a month. I love it, especially the chili chicken dish which is amazing with a side of noodles or rice. I recommend this place to anyone who likes Asian cuisine (Chinese, Thai, Hakka).

The owners are very warm and welcoming. They have lunch specials on weekdays and weekends. Ordered Hakka Chilli Chicken and House Special Fried Rice off the regular menu for take out. Ask them to make it spicy. Perhaps thats why the Chilli Chicken wasnt sweet at all like some of the other reviews pointed out. Overall, I really enjoyed the food. Tasted fresh and flavourful. Portion sizes are good too. Will be back to try their other offerings.
