Open for dining in.
I can't understand anything less than 5 stars for this place. People sure are miserable. This is like going to Gramma's house! Everything, literally EVERYTHING is made fresh by this extremely talented woman! ❤️ A real treat!
Went here for my birthday dinner, this place is such a gem! It really feels like you're walking into a restaurant (or someone's house) in Central Europe. It was such a personable, cozy dining experience. The food was delicious and fresh (I really appreciated the vegetarian menu options) and the owner/cook/server grows much of it in her own garden. She was such a lovely person with very much an Eastern European attitude in the best way (if you've ever travelled to Central/Eastern Europe, you'll understand). Super authentic food and experience, we really enjoyed it!
Expect german food, would not consider this place. Owner does not consider that “the customer is always right”. Do you have gravy, “I would not serve you packaged gravy”. Well make homemade! Do you have Lemons, “No, it does not complement my dish”! Dang, I like gravy and Lemons, why would she school me to what my tastes are. Food decent but bland, gravy or lemon would have helped. Was scared to ask for salt or pepper! Good luck to her, but not for me!
Loved everything about this restaurant! The decor and food made me feel like I was back in Eastern Europe. Not outdated as some said- this looks like the typical restaurant in Czech or Germany. Definitely the most authentic experience I've had. The food is all homemade and delicious! It was so nice to find a place that had real options for someone with food allergies (dairy and egg). The service was great, as well, with the owner cooking, tending bar, and serving. The food is not cheap here, but the price is similar to restaurants in the more touristy part of town and it is a lot higher quality. We would definitely return here.
The experience is really nice. You are literally in the past. The food was I very tasty you can feel traditions and home made for a kindly chef. Also I found Alchocha (caigua Peruana) the best!
Lovely place! The owner is very friendly and told us a bit about how she got started. She grows all of her own vegetables and herbs and does all of the cooking and serving. Small, intimate space and the food is so flavourful! She has an entire vegan page on the menu. Really enjoyed my dining experience here!
It is a bit pricey and it is not for you if you are in a rush as the owner is also the chef and the server. But the food is delicious, the vegetarian options are awesome ( as per my friend). The ambience is a bit old, but in my opinion it adds charm to the place.
Google says open, sign in window says open but the doors were all locked around the building. I’ve heard great things - the building is beautiful. Disappointed drove a hour one way from the states to only find it closed after paying for parking etc. Edit addition after restaurants reply - please update your hours on google! Also the sign in the window in daylight doesn’t “look” like it would be lit a certain color as it straight on shows open like many shop windows…the sign is tricky to know otherwise. Possibly post hours in a window next to the sign or elsewhere. Next time! Mindegyy, will try again another time.
Absolutely charming!!! A real treat. Looking forward to getting back. Everything is grown and made by this remarkable woman!
Food was ok, but overpriced
Quite expensive portions small, food was ok. No pop.?
Amazing Central European food (and drinks), made with high quality, home-made products. A lovely lady cooked for us, served us and gave advise on what to choose. The best option in Niagara!
Amazing food and service. The woman who cooked for us was so sweet and since we called to make a reservation she pretty much opened the restaurant just for us. This made our entire experience visiting Niagara so much better since we struggled to find authentic food options, and we will definitely be back! If I could give this place 10 stars I would.
This is the best place to eat in Niagara Falls period. Attention to detail and hospitality rivals the rude service provided at most Mediterranean locations in the surrounding area. The attention to Classical recipes is so on point, you should consider yourself lucky to have eaten here.
Good wholesome food. The owner/cook/waitress made us feel like we were at a friends home sharing a meal and conversation.
This was the best place we ate in Niagara. Such a cozy atmosphere, super delicious food, and the woman who runs it is very kind and grows most of the food herself, which is lovely.
This was a very unique dining experience. The food was so so good. There were several vegan options that were delicious and filling. Definitely get the apple streusel!! Call ahead. We just called the day of. This does not operate like a regular restaurant. The owner does everything. So the place might not be open if you just walk up. Worth a stop for the good food and the unique experience.
Enjoyed a delicious meal for a special celebration this past week. Owner (Jamilla?) is friendly and hard-working, and youll appreciate the fresh seasonings and produce she grows in her garden out back especially if youre tired of overly salted restaurant food thats typical in our area. As other reviewers have stated, this is a far-from-modernized restaurant in a circa 1850 building, but that just added to the ambience for us. We were also the only party dining that night, but it just felt like we were over for dinner with a friend! This is not a cheap night out, but we felt that the quality of fresh ingredients made the price acceptable. Well be back!
Great place. Delicious and friendly.
Felt like I was at my moms
Delicious!!! Goulash soup was amazing just the way my Oma used to make it and the Goulash with Spätzle were perfect. Will be back to try the Wiener Schnitzel.
You must visit this place! Gulash soup is fantastic and picked cabbage is a must try. Chef lady is very nice and kind, we had a great chat with her. Place is very authentic! Will come back here again!
Ate here on our weekend trip to Niagara Falls. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful, we had the whole restaurant to ourselves, and the atmosphere is cozy and romantic. All the food is handmade, organic and locally grown, and they cater to Vegetarian and Vegan diets. If youre looking for some authentic European cuisine this is the place to go.
One of the best finds weve ever made while traveling.
Really enjoyed the meal we had here. I would highly recommend the Goulash, very flavourful with a bit of spice. Liked the fact produce is locally grown and organic. A bit pricey and decor is a bit old but great service and hospitality. Would come again.
Excellent food, great atmosphere. Entire place is ran by an elderly lady that grows most ingredients onsite. Vegan and vegetarian meals are available. Would recommend for romantic couples dinner, maybe not for small children.
Excellent food vegan options and amazing service
Manage your expectations -- this is like eating dinner in someones house and their mum cooks you a nice dinner. The food is pricy but very tasty, and the whole experience great. Its a time-period place.
Best German food I have had since living in Germany.
The food and the people there are great. If you are looking for something swanky this isnt the place. But the food and drinks were delicious and authentic. Super dated inside but still a great experience. Vegetarian options: Had a great selection for vegan and vegetarian food.
One of the most delicious vegan dinners we have had on our travels! If you are looking for a small restaurant with very attentive service and fantastic food, then plan a trip to this restaurant.
This Chef no mere cook prepared one of the finest meals of my life. Appetizers to dessert was phenomenal, and Im a very picky eater. My wife and I were gifted a meal here for our honeymoon. If your in the area its a must do! Excellent!!
The chef and the owner, Jarmila is an amazing persona. She does everything by herself and gives you the warmth of home food. She grows all her ingredients organically and makes sure to prepare the dishes fresh. This is a hidden gem of Niagara Falls. The place in itself has an aura of 1800s. We had a nice chat with her while she explained how she learnt cooking in Czech Republic.
The food here is delicious.
It was marvelous food and we had plenty of it.
Good old style food
The quirkiest, loveliest, most delicious Niagara has to offer. The owner chef grows many of the ingredients herself and they are organic. She is a wonderful human. Its such a treat to find old world gems such as Red Chateau in this northern culture saturated with dull, empty millenial culture. You will get amazing service and herbology. Our dishes today were topped with fresh dill and lemonbalm. I highly recommend the smoked meat dumplings, the salmon with veggies and spatzle and the homemade cheese platter. I am still enjoying the experience many hours later. Please support such people. Pure heart and soul. Thank you so much for a fun evening! I will love to go back.
What a gem!!!! In a town full of tourist traps and chain restaurants, we found one of the most charming, intimate, incredible restaurants. It is a little bit away from the falls, and in a quiet neighborhood, but please do not let that deter you! My friend and I went on a Saturday night at around 7pm and we were the only ones dining in the restaurant - so we received a private dining experience! And it was an incredible one. The vegetables were fresh from the garden and the food was made-to-order, the wine was fantastic, and the personal attention was beyond anything we expected. There is a whole page of vegetarian/vegan options, and everything we tried was phenomenal. Absolutely amazing!!
We went here for the vegan options and were not disappointed. Yes, it was expensive but considering all the work the owner puts into it, I felt it was worth the price. The owner was very friendly and also informative. The food was good and the restaurant had a romantic feeling to it. Good place to go for a date. We will definitely come back here next time we visit Niagara Falls.
We recommend it to all migrants from the Czech Republic who want to taste the taste of traditional Czech food again. Madam, it really works in all respects, and despite the higher prices, we had a very pleasant experience. We will definitely come back.
Authentic European dishes in an old world atmosphere. She accommodates gluten free, vegan & allergy customers.
Service was slow. Food was ok.
It was cosy and not very busy. The appetizers, dessert, and wine were very good but the main dish could have been more flavorful. It was very expensive but the atmosphere was nice. Went on new years Eve and it was one of the only places still accepting reservations and was flexible with dishes and timing.
From the start with the homemade Rye bread with garlic butter to the main dish of Hungarian pork goulash to the end with Apple strudel was a delicious experience! Carefully prepared by the owner with all of her special attention to quality ingredients. Well worth trying it.
What a hidden gem! The owner is chef, bartender AND server. It is a dining experience, not to be rushed. EVERYTHING is homemade and cooked to order. The venue is small and intimate, best for couples. We started with a a Mulberry Vodka and Raspberry Courvoisier, both delightful. You must try the garlic bread...the bread is thick and homemade. Also try the achocha salad, homegrown, homemade with vinegar and onions. Different and light. Must try the Cheese Triangles...not a ravioli, not a pierogi. A light cheese filling in the dumpling with a butter sauce. Really delicious. Entrees: my husband had the Gypsy Weiner Schnitzel and I had the Smoked Pork Potato Dumplings. Hands down, the best Weiner Schnitzel hes ever had. Cooked to perfection and the Gypsy style with a little kick made it extra special. The smoked meat in the dumplings would challenge the best pitmaster, and it was wrapped in a potato dumpling shell that was incredible. We got her handmade walnut crescent cookies to go because 1) we were stuffed! and 2) a group of loud tourists stumbled in with 2 screaming kids. The venue is small, suited best for couples. Suggest reservations. Not a place for children or large, loud groups. Please, keep them both in the loud, tacky tourist area and dont ruin the experience for others! PS, the cookies were also phenomenal. Save room for her homemade apple strudel and tell us what we missed!
4 stars only because its pricy. Otherwise a charming little house-turned-restaurant near Niagara Falls that serves Hungarian and Czech dishes with vegan, yes vegan, options. The flavors are outstanding! The owner is funny and so unique. Loved it!
Super food
Really good Czech food. Its out of the way, but worth it. We sampled a lot of food and I enjoyed it all. Its different, but neat to try.
Warning! The reviews for this restaurant are very misleading. I do not live in Niagara and just picked this place out on the Internet. I am not sure how it has become highly ranked on websites like Yelp & Tripadvisor. I was thoroughly disappointed with my choice. Below is s list of reasons to not go. 1. They were feeding cats on the front porch. When I noticed this I should have not even walked through the front door. 2. We were the only people there during dinner and likely the entire day. 3. The food was poor to OK. By the time we got there I was starving so this may be an overestimate. 4. Food was over priced. With a glass of wine, appetizer & tip total was $120 for 2 people. I would have done better going somewhere else.
Good food but overpriced. 110.00 for 2 people. Nice to get homemade food.
Great food!
Reminded my girlfriend and I of real European homemade food. They had plenty of vegan options, and everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The owner also was very knowledgeable in terms of food and what was going into it.
What a fantastic and unique experience! If you want to try something memorable and different, do not hesitate to visit this restaurant. The owner is a very hardworking and inspirational renesance woman who does everything on her own. Food is honest, delicious and everything is homemade from scratch including pickled vegetables, jams, bread, ice cream, whipped cream etc. All vegetables are homegrown! We are definitely going back.
Love it
Delicious food and lovely service! Would highly recommend!
Amazing unique and organic food and amazing service!
I travel a lot for my current profession, and find it very difficult to find restaurants that offer healthy food. You know they types of establishments that actually have food in their food! Well, as luck would have it, I stumbled across The Red Chateau, and will always remember this experience. The menu selection, atmosphere, and quality of service ranks up there with any place I have ever ventured into. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a romantic atmosphere that provides healthy, (organic) food.
Went there last night for a romantic dinner and couldnt be happier that we did. The pride and knowledge that the chef/owner has in her food shows. She makes everything from bread to cheese herself and grows her own organic vegetables. Even the simplest thing like garlic bread was the best Ive ever had. She took the time to explain the food and fresh ingredients and turned the lights down low for our ramantic ambiance. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.
The best restaurant in Niagara Falls!
