Doc Magilligan's Restaurant & Irish Pub in Niagara Falls

My husband and I dined here on a Saturday evening and our waitress was outstanding, Attentive, professional, and prompt. The food was terrible. Having ordered the fish and chips we were shocked that the fish was mushsy undercooked and not even crisp. This was something we thought would be a slam dunk in an Irish pub. NOT. The prices are high so the meal felt like a real disappointment given what we paid. The staff and the atmosphere were wonderful. Our recommendation is to go for lunch or happy hour, enjoy the ambiance, a drink and share a half price appetizer. But manage your expectations on the food.

This restaurant was a special find! We were looking for some place to eat after a day of shopping. We stopped here because it was close. Come to find out, they make a good portion of their food right there! Even their corned beef! Everything was delicious!

My wife and her co workers went to this establishment after their work christmas party. They ordered some drinks and went get some more. When they got to the bar tender he ignored them, they kept trying to get his attention, he turned to them and said Im not serving you because you guys arent tipping! They got into a shouting match. In front of other workers and customers he told the other bar tenders not to serve them. Finally one of my wifes co workers got a manager and they printed out their receipts and proved that her group were tipping the whole time. The bar tender apologized and the manger offered them a free shots. By then they were all upset and embarrassed by the whole ordeal and decided to go to another bar down the road. My wife on the other hand was emotionally hurt and wanted to go home so I just went and picked her up. These ladies dont go out often, the one time they get to go out as group to have fun and some jerk bar tender just craps all over it, its not right. Would not recommend. Dont ruin your night by going here.

This place was great! I went with my partner and sister in law and it was excellent. The food was good, but the service and ambiance were exceptional. Would highly recommend, and will be going again.

Our server Milena was polite and prompt. Unfortunately, our food was just not worth the price. The gravy was brown water. I must say, however, the main reason for this review is the managers bad handling of a parenting (or lack thereof) situation. A large group arrived before us containg approx 10 adults and 10 or 12 kids. im guessing in range from 4 to 10. The children were seated separately from the adults and were left completely unsupervised. Free to curse, yell, throw food, and run about the very tight dining room. Kicking and punching each other, bumping others chairs, and making conversation in the room basically impossible due to their loud voices. I, in no way, hold the restaurant responsible for others behavior, but when we were apologized to by several staff members and told that the manager had repeatedly asked them to settle, to no avail, I began to wonder why they had not been asked to leave as adults behahing similarly would have been. Clearly, our comfort and enjoyment was not considered. Lack of professionalism on the managers part destroyed my meal and many others tonight.

Food was good and service was good until it came time for the check it took our server an hour to bring me the bill which is just crazy. Then she says she forgot. Unacceptable honestly.

Parking: I have been in for drinks a few times in the last year at night. Went in today with a friend for a late lunch. Greeted immediately & seated.Day time, atmosphere is nice. Our Bartender/Server Onya was amazing. She was very personable, and just a joy! like we were at her home! Food quality is top tier!! Best spinach artichoke dip in the city! As locals ~ I/ We, look forward to returning.

Great shares - fish and chips with an extra piece of fish! The nachos with blue cheese - outstanding! Definitely a share plate. Must have dinner at the bar to watch Isaac, the bartender, create some awesome drinks! Sorry we didnt stay for the band! Back again! Yall have to fine Isaac the bartender to whip up his new creation - pumpkin patch! Jack Daniels Apple, Amaretto. Turn the flaming cinnamon stick upside down and use it as a straw! Had the wings with suicide on the side and tried the massive crab cakes with tartar on the side. Had a pint of Brimstone Sinister Minister IPA (Ridgeway, Ontario). Orange and pine sap notes. Very hoppy, 7%, IBU, according to the BeerAvocate is 90.

Ok for what we went for

Doc Magilligans has curb appeal and cozy pub decor but the food is just not worth it. Maybe if youre drunk? But any sober person would turn away days old, leftover Shepherds pie thats been stuffed into potatoe skins or heat from frozen crab cakes. Really disappointing. All I can say is do better and maybe dont suggest the food is homemade.

The service was above excellence as well as the food!! I had a reuben and it was the best one I ve ever had. The Caesar salad was fresh and delicious. My friend had the brisket sandwich, she loved it. Will definitely be back.

Strangest boxty ever. Not sure there were any actual potatoes in it. Soda bread was awful. Service was friendly but frazzled. Food was very slow to arrive and each order was slightly incorrect.

Top notch food, friendly staff, and great atmosphere! We were referred to this place by our hosts at the bed and breakfast we stayed at. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any of my friends visiting the Canadian side of Niagra Falls! Kid-friendliness: They had a high chair available for my daughter

As authentic as if you were in the old country. The food atmosphere and service were beyond expectations. This is truly a gem in Niagra Falls and a must.

Have been 3 times and will definitely go back again whenever I visit Niagara Falls. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It is beautifully decorated. If you love a pub, this is the place to go. Music is varied, pop with some Irish style music added in. I have not eaten there yet, but I plan to someday as the menu has a wonderful variety of options to choose from, I am sure must people would find a food selection they would enjoy eating. The prices are well, not bad, its the Falls remember, lol. Parking: There is parking right in the front area/entrance of the building. This pub is I believe part of a hotel. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheelchair ramp accessible to the front entrance, and the bathrooms are also wheelchair accessible

First time coming here and I would def go here again. Amazing atmosphere, live music playing was great not to crazy loud like most places. Food!!! The food was 10/10 from start to finish, and the drinks are 10/10 as well.

Sat in the area and had the most fabulous waiter David. He was super attentive and hilarious! Made a delcious bloody cesar. We all had the breakfast boxty. Had the pleasure of visiting Docs at the long weekend Chase was extremely friendly and attentive throughout our meal..he was incredible in his service and had a very pleasant demeanour.. food was amazing.. late night menu has variety and very delicious.. chicken wings and chicken caesar wrap were exceptional.. very lovely atmosphere.. highly recommended for a dinner on the trip to Niagara

You cant make an omelette without breaking the eggs, for our part we found the place with the local atmosphere ok but less for the gastronomy you read on the menu steak fries but be careful thats not what I I received lol its a miserable broth with pieces of beef and a club sandwich a coke and a beer I left with almost $100 thank you!!

cockroach in my food at doc mcgilligans on Lundys lane. Took a video to record the matter restaurant manager tried insinuate I did it to my own food Saying they just got visited by the health department and had stunning reviews blah blah blah.... and that he had a camera in the place I told him to go get the footage and I would wait he said there was no need he took my food off the my bill handed it to me and then told me I had to leave..... I didnt pay for a thing I walked out as he was trying to say he was going to call the cops for theft.... I told him go right ahead as I have the video of me finding the cockroach in my food along with the health departments number. I havent called yet I guess Im expecting doc mcgilligans is still do the right thing but clearly they have no intentions of doing that.

Spent my 7 year wedding anniversary here with my husband. Loved it! Definitely did not disappoint! If you re thinking of going here, don t think, just go! Stopped here for late night dinner and was unbelievably impressed. their drink menu is very impressive for an Irish pub, all the food was incredible, the ravioli is to die for. If you get the chance to be served the the bartender David 100% take it, he was hilarious and absolutely made our experience 10/10 best service we ve had in both Toronto and Niagara!!!

Visited here a few times over the years and have always enjoyed it. Good Irish pub serving typical British food. Last visit to the Falls I craved a good old fashioned pub pie so I tried their sampler plate . It was excellent, Great vibe and atmosphere here, Wonderful service with a smile and great food.

There is something for the Irish food lover here. Exceptional atmosphere, definitely not your typical Canadian pub. Potatoes are more like mash with Cheese and Bacon but delicious! Wings were flavoursome and filling. Service was superb.

Got there early before the rest of our group and they sat us. The server was very friendly and instantly knew we were not Canadian because we ordered unsweetened tea. The beer was good, the service was fast and the food was hot. Would recommend this place. The only issue was the smell. The entire space had a very strong bleach smell. It was 3:00 so they were open for awhile. Not sure why it was so strong. Parking: Only a few spots up front.

Attached to a hotel but dont let that fool you. This place would fit right in, in Galway. The Boxty was delicious and the mini Shepard pies on potato skins were a win with the whole family.

062824 My wife and I visited the restaurant this past Tuesday if I remember correctly. I believe during the 1700hr to 1800hr aprox. We had the wagu to start. DELISH!!!!! We also had the fish & Chips, and the Trio. (Steak and mushroom, chicken curry, and the Shepards pie) absolutely full of deliciousness. Great service and food. Thanks.

The hostess sat us at a table near the musicians and assured us that they wouldn t start playing until 9pm and guess what they started early. Not only were they loud they were bad. I now have a migraine from eating at the restaurant. The food was ok. It wasn t worth the money. The server tried her best but she didn t make the food or have any control of the band.

Went to Docs with the family to watch euro final. We are huge england supporters, dont hold that against me. Ended up sitting in the golf lounge to watch the game. Although I have been to Docs many times this is the first time I have been in the lounge. What a great place to watch the game. I was stunned how nice it was. Will be my place to go for golf simulators in tbe winter..even if you dont play golf check it out. We had 2 servers during our visit both genlemen were great. So friendly and amazing at their jobs. Thanks guys. Even though we lost it was still a great afternoon at Docs!!

Chase is an amazing server!!! Hands down. Ive been in the industry for 40 years and he killed it with grace. Half my party didnt show but that didnt faze him. Amazing . Out of the park u made the night. Band was killer. Amazing service from start to finish. Chase u r a superstar buddy!!!

The best Irish-Victorian inspired restaurant I have ever been. The food was tasty and the portions was big. The service was awesome. i love every little detail about this place. Will definitely go back.

The two girls who served us with the UK accents on Saturday the 1st, were nothing short of amazing. Such genuinely kind girls, their hospitality was impeccable. (They did tell us their names but I unfortunately have forgotten)

I got the taste of Ireland with the shepherds pie, steak and mushroom pie and the chicken madras curry. The shepherds pie was the best out of the 3. The fish and chips were hot, fresh, and very tasty.

Amazing pub, was so good we went back the next day, we went and ate off the late night menu and that was really good. We had Irish Nachos and cauliflower wings, both really good. Next day we went for the lunch/dinner menu and it was SOOOO GOOOOOD. We had fish taco boxty and steak and mushroom boxty which was also really good. But those fish tacos are the best fish tacos Ive ever eaten ever 11/10. Would highly recommend. The inside of the pub is really neat too, all the furniture is cool. 11/10 would drive back (we dont live in Niagara) for the fish tacos alone.

Old school pub style. Really fun spot

First time there and we went as a group to celebrate a birthday. It was very busy and very loud, this contributed to me feeling a real lack of atmosphere, other than a few food items, nothing like an Irish pub at all. Our Server told us they were new and couldnt answer any questions we had. They were friendly but not really too helpful for information or recommendations. We ordered a couple of appetizers for the group, which took about 30 mins to come out. They were tasty, we had spring rolls and Irish nachos. I asked if one of our party of 7 could have their Fries cooked crispy and was told its really busy, I doubt it. I ordered a steak & mushroom boxty - potato pancake wrap and it tasted good and was big. Lack of parking spots didnt help the experience either. $300+ for our dinner with a couple of drinks for half of our group. Would I go back? Maybe, not on a weekend, thats for sure. Semi-miss for me! Parking: Very difficult to find, restaurant was busy and maybe hotel guests park there too?

Came here for my bachelorette dinner with a group of 9 and we had an AMAZING time! Food was delicious, drinks were great, and our server Chase was 10/10. Despite him being busy, he was attentive, funny, and made sure we always had drinks and had a great time. Thank you!!

Always a great time at Docs. A good mix of both locals and tourists. I highly recommend trying a Boxty. Its is a potato pancake that comes stuffed. My favorite one is stuffed with steak and mushrooms. Parking: If you cant find parking in front of the restaurant, or along side of the hotel, you can usually park in the No Frills parking lot beside the hotel

Irish with a twist. Reasonably priced. Service is nice and friendly. Give it a shot. You gonna have a good time

What a popular place. Its pretty big and every table was taken. Havent eaten Irish fare in a long while. Portions were plentiful. The staff was friendly. The curry I had needed a bit more punch (spice) but otherwise a nice change for a meal out.

Delicious food and great service. Went for lunch and was surprised at how fast the food came out. Parking: The parking lot is small so give yourself time to find a spot or park at the grocery store down the street and walk.

I was not expecting much from a small chain restaurant located in a best western but I was very wrong. The waitress was very cheerful and patient and the food, the food tasted fantastic! Everyone working there takes pride in their job!! Amazing food!

So happy with our experience here! There is a small parking lot there so you drive without having to pay to park. The atmosphere was fabulous. Great decor and interior. Our server was so kind and attentive. They were very helpful in making sure my 8 year old son got exactly what he wanted for food, very accommodating. We had the fried Reuben bites as an appetizer. It only comes with five pieces, but it was enough to whet our appetites and they tasted great. The steak and mushroom pot pie was sensational. The drinks were tasty and strong. Really enjoyed our time here!

Was in Niagra Falls all the way from Scotland to celebrate my 50th and found this great pub/restaurant. Bethany who is the owner and who also was our waitress made us feel very comfortable from the minute we walked in. A fellow Brit (Liverpudlian) so was great to be myself. The food was so delicious. I had the shepherds pie and my husband the homemade curry. I even got cake to take away with me. Drinks also great. As it was out on the Wego Red line was alot cheaper for a meal than in central niagra. No tourist tax either. Would highly recommend and if I am ever back in Niagra Falls this will be one place I will definitely be heading to. Ideal as has a best western hotel attached to it. Visited this spot because a sign out front said stouts & porters but was extremely disappointed to find they had no porters at all and only Guinness as a stout. So if you are coming here for good beer youre in for a bad time. However, the Ruben boxty I ordered was delicious. The fries were lacking and my partners Shepards pie was also bland. The service was top notch, and if you enjoy live music the cover band was pretty solid too. Overall I walked away unsatisfied as I was craving a good beer but if you just want a tasty boxty then this is the place for you!

Nice atmosphere. Good basic food, though the chicken for the salad was boiled and not grilled.

Beef and mushroom boxty was good and very filling. There was a Cincinnati style chili flavor in it and chicken curry boxty with the poutine was good as well.

I ordered the steak and mushroom boxty with sweet potato fries and a pint of Killkenny and it was AMAZING! Absolutely delicious! Staff were very friendly and attentive. We went on a Sunday afternoon when there were local musicians singing and playing gorgeous Irish tunes. They do this every Sunday from 1.30 to 4.30 pm. I highly recommend you check it out!

The food was excellent, we got the Reuben Boxy and Docs Meatloaf. The only problem was the server who had a really bad attitude. She walked away from us when we asked why we had to wait for almost 50 mins to get served. She said it was a change of shift and she walked away from us. Stating that we need to look for another server!.We were the first table to arrive and the last to be served. We were almost not able to eat there. We talked to Kenneth, and he said he was the manager and he said so what? did you gave her an attitude?? I just asked if we could be served as we were hungry and told him that we were going to pay, and that we were not asking or begging for a free mea.Our bill was around $100 plus a not deserved tip (except because they change this bad server for another, super nice women server!!). Too bad that the food is delicious and the service is really bad. Some employees should be replaced by someone who wants to work and knows more about customer service! Im attaching a picture of the server who walked away from us, and the delicious meal we had, (hopefully they didnt spit on it!) I am sure that as a business owner if you treated better your clients you could make more money, and you servers more tips!

Nice cozy spot for Irish pub food and drinks!

This is my first time visiting this restaurant, the service overall was very accommodating and quick, but the food was just way too oily, there is too much cheese and oil on the chips and the chicken on it was not good either, the fish and chips were way too oily and bland, the burger also fell apart as I was eating it, and had also too much oil with the Cesar salad also tasted like it was store bought and the little bits of bacon where way too chewy, as a pub this place is OK but there were a little children running around screaming at a pub, it was nice that they had a band playing on one of the nights. The beer also was good, but the food was not good at all. They need to change it to make it less oily. I did not even finish most of my food.

This pub was GORGEOUS! A true hidden gem in Niagra Falls! You are literally surrounded by Irish pubs of the past! Greeted and cared for by top notch staff! And served food of distinction filled with love! Boxty fries and Irish nachos were phenomenal! Definitely try the Onion Ale soup! Our entrees were outstanding! Shepherds pie, taste of Ireland, meatloaf and the corned beef melt! And a perfect whiskey sour!!! I chose this place to celebrate my 49th birthday while vacationing in Niagra Falls!!! It was AMAZING! Truly a feast for the eyes, soul and belly! Thank you for helping me celebrate!

Went for dinner then again for breakfast. Dinner was great had chicken curry boxty which is Potatoe wrap filled with chicken curry I had a side salad which was really good very tasty some spice washed down with a glass of house red. Staff polite and friendly and it was pleasant as there wasnt lots of TVs on as that does get annoying. Breakfast was as good as dinner very well presented tasty fresh and enjoyable will look forward to going back again.

Terrible training for bar staff.If its not busy serve the customer instead of chating up the ladys at the bar.

One of the most pleasable and fun places to go in Niagara. Nice service, excellent beers and food. Recomend!

I recently went to this amazing Irish pub with my friends! We had an amazing time. Our server was the absolute best! She had the sweetest accent and made the night so much fun! Bethany you are amazing. I had the fish taco boxty with sweet potato fries! A must!

I took my beautiful gf to this restaurant (or rather she took me) and although our order wasn t taken for a long time and we had to sit around for a while, once this inadvertent error was discovered, staff was very fair and accommodating thereafter. Our waitress, Holly, was very professional, attentive and provided exceptional hospitality and service. The food was good and the live music was a nice touch too.
