5869 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 3L6, Canada
Nice place to have a quick snack. 15 minutes by walk from the Falls. I felt happy that they let me dine in with my dog. The food was decent. The washroom is neat and accessible. Would definitely recommend.
Food is good, service could be better. Staff seemed bored
Here's the "This famous poutine restaurant is only in Eastern Canada. I had been to Saskatoon before, and when I traveled to Ontario, I saw they also have a location in Niagara. I tried it again and it was excellent. I think you shouldn’t miss it; it has the best poutine in all of Canada."
Food was delicious and fresh. It was served quickly. Wide range of beverages.
Traveling from America, we were in pursuit of a good poutine. This place was an excellent find. Rich gravy. Squeaky cheese curds. Endless ways to personalize. Delicious, but definitely not healthy 😁
We had the chicken bacon ranch and traditional poutine, both came out fast, hot and delicious!!
Visited Smoke’s Poutinerie for a quick snacks and a drink and was extremely disappointed with the customer service. The guy at the front desk simply ignored me whereas there was no one the queue. Despite the food being decent, the service was far from acceptable. The staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful, making the experience quite unpleasant. My order took an unusually long time to be prepared. Additionally, the employees were not friendly Unfortunately, the poor customer service overshadowed the meal.
I’ve had poutine but never in Canada. We hopped across the border to see the other side of the falls and had lunch at Smokes. It was amazing! Very friendly service and you certainly get your money’s worth! I had the bacon cheeseburger poutine, plan on walking it off or you’ll slip into a food coma!
Poutine was terrible. Cheese cold on top. Gravy was bland. Fries were also pitiful.
I was honestly shocked to see this has so many good reviews. Maybe other locations or days are better. The poutine tasted like everything was from a can, including the chicken and the service was terrible. A very awkward and unpleasant experience. Would not recommend.
Great food
Loved the pulled pork poutine!
Almost no cheese, maybe 4-5 grains and thats out of 7 poutines with the same amount of cheese, very disappointed with our choice!
They didnt have almost anything on their menu. Not sure if just that day, or what was going on. No steak, chicken, chorizo, pork, or pierogis.
This is a truly delicious poutine restaurant!! Im leaving a review because I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance :)
Absolutely amazing staff, prices are good, fully packed with people and so worth the wait in line. Kid-friendliness: The staff is absolutely amazing with children. Wheelchair accessibility: There are absolutely no stairs to get in
Customer service and quality of the meal was terrible. No flavour to the gravy, and fries were awful. When I got home I picked out the toppings and tossed the fries out. Menu lacks variety... And as youre reading the digital menu, animations pop up causing interruption to the decision making. Not cool.
Filthy. Several flies. No paper towels in bathroom and soap was a little bit of soap in a cup. Tables and seats not wiped.
Good choice of toppings. Food choices limited to their poutines. Weren t serving the remainder of the menu. Large portions for a descent value.
The spot is very basic, but the food is delicious. Service was fast. You can get all kinds of different poutine.
The Worst and Bad Putin You Can Eat Across Canada Dried fries and frozen cheese. Food
Easily the best in town, from a locals view
Place is a bit small, but the Poutine is O H M Y G O S H so Goood! Highly recommend. Really, its So Good! I wouldve taken a pic but was so hungry. It looked as good as it tasted. Food : 5/5
This place is amazing. A spin on the traditional poutine. My family and I absolutely love the food here. Definitely would recommend this restaurant. It is worth the drive.
The guy working, was absolutely wonderful the blonde girl with long nails was absolutely rude, she had a poor attitude, and was on her phone not helping much. The guy should get a raise the girl should learn good customer service
Very delicious poutine. Very nice stuff. Place looked clean. Music was very nice.
Great service and very friendly! Clean atmosphere and absolutely outstanding poutine! We went for the traditional and it was made fresh, hot, and they do not skimp on portion size, cheese, or gravy!! Outstanding!
Worst Poutine I ever ate
Expensive, but really good poutine.
A true Canadian poutine. Well done. Service was awesome other than the fact the poor guy looked exhausted. It was canada day and it was late in the evening. Keep up the great work and great food
Was our first time having poutine while on vacation, it was sooooooo good
The food was not particularly special; I ve had better in the States. The fries were bland, and the toppings were mediocre at best. I gave this place one star for the service. The lady behind the counter was inattentive, and she charged us in US dollars rather than Canadian, which was the main issue. Every other place on the strip charged in Canadian dollars except this one. To avoid an argument, we paid our $55 order in US currency instead of leaving without trying the food. I m glad we tried this place so I can give an honest review. Overall, I recommend giving this place a shot, but avoid mentioning you re from the States. Perhaps it was just an off night for the food.
What a wow! Soooo good
The food was overall good. But the cheese was squeaky and not good. (I would recommend taking out the cheese when you get your poutine) When I went there was only one employee for the whole place so you might have to wait a bit.
They say they are open until 3am. They closed before 1:45am. Dont count on them for late night food
Husband and son loved it. It smelled like dog food to me so I wasnt a fan! The restaurant was so hot, they needed some AC! Must pay to park to eat here!
The guy at the cash rudely told us to leave the store and said there was no dine in, when there were clearly 2 other families dining in and he didnt say anything to them. Please train your employees better to not be rude and discriminatory against your customers. Maybe he was having a bad day, but that is not how you act in a customer service job.
The man working was extremely friendly and warned us a large was very large. So heed his warnings
I have never been able to have poutine from here and they still get 1 star. I visit Niagara often and there hasn t been a time at night that we wanted to visit as it says OPEN online, but we have showed up and called many times, and sadly no one is there. They just close up early and leave!!! Just last night their hours was expected to be open until 3 am however at 2 am we called so we don t waste time walking over, and they were closed!!!!! Either change your hours online or get someone to stay the shift because you would make awful lots of money during that time that other stores are actually meant to be closed!
Reasturant is dirty as hell and no hygiene
The poutine (a Canadian staple) is fantastic. I had the bbq poutine. If bbq is your thing - dont miss it. My wife had the chicken, bacon, ranch and loved it. Even though the gravy and bbq or gravy and ranch sound interesting - its amazing. Dont miss this authentic poutine! Next time we return to Canada, we have a new go-to. Kid-friendliness: Our son LOVED his fries!
The place closes at midnight, I showed up at 8:30 and they said they ran out of everything and closed.
The food was decent and the service was good, but the best part about this place was the atmosphere. There was a huge chalkboard that tons of strangers had contributed to. The red flannel design was fun and comfy.
Good poutine at a solid price. Huge portion a medium was more than enough.
They close at 9 I guess? You should probably update your hours
Food wasn t very good. They didn t have baked potatoes despite them being on the menu. Their bathroom didn t have soap, and when I told them this, they didn t do anything about it. We were the only people there so it s not like they were busy
Yes.
not the friendliest service but food was great, liked the music they were playing too. we shared the large chicken bacon ranch poutine, very good
Food was alright, however the service was terrible. The server was so rude and not welcoming. I also overheard him talking about another customer who ordered before me to the guy in the kitchen in a nasty way. It was even more obvious when they started to glance over at them. Not professional at all.
A wonderful experience. The staff was over the top friendly to me and my daughter. Poutine was perfect. Thank you everyone.
So delicious and flavorful!!
Overly salty gravy made this poutine just barely acceptable. The overall flavor was ok, but combined with bad service, high prices, awful atmosphere and no place to sit made the entire experience very negative. If you want poutine, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.
Its not something special
Great poutine!
My first time having poutine and my friend from Canada suggested I eat here. Stopped in here the night before the eclipse and got some grub. Very very good. It hit the spot. Vegetarian options: They have a vegetarian gravy for poutine. You wont have many options beyond that, however.
Busy Location in Clifton Hill. I kept passing by to use the washrooms as my car was parked close by.
We visited and had poutine for the first time. The place has shown its usage with a small dining area. Not large enough for families. We could have shared a portion. They serve poutine in takeout containers with wooden forks. Drinks are bottled.
Mouth watering food that could camp in your tongue for hours. The service was fast. I got a hot bowl of poutine quickly. I vividly remember my first time trying poutine in canada at this place. I had a mushroom sauteed beef poutine. Which was absolutely delicious. Today I had bacon cheeseburger poutine. The bacon was crispy, the cheeseburger layer was hot and the fries were absolutely fresh. Kudos for continuing to maintain good standards.
An awesome place to try out traditional and some experimental poutine.
Best Vegetarian Poutine Veggie Gravy Vegetarian options: Veggie traditional Veggie traditional + Vegetables Food : 5/5 | Service
Hours not as ADVERTISED.
The food was delicious. We bought three different poutine styles and all of them were simply tasty . My favorite more is pulled pork one. Vegetarian options: I didnt pay close attention to vegetarian menu, but if you just ask for the traditional one, vegetarians would be ok. Parking: Its beside the place, in the hotel parking lot. You only have to pay 5 dollars.
Expensive
Was working around the corner and was looking forward to a poutine for lunch!! Got there and the place was closed when website says your open!! (12:20pm Jan 31, 2024). Got my hopes up for nothing!!! Will try again hopefully someone is there!!!!
Really friendly staff, nice greasy food that really hits the spot! Huge shoutout to the staff, really kind.
Good poutine.
Got to go bacon cheeseburger poutine....AMAZING!!! Food was great, the staff was friendly and fast!
got the traditional poutine for $14 with tax, worth a try for those coming to Canada. The fries are consistently lathered in gravy and thick cheese curds. Perfect for the cold winter.
The employee told me it was closed both times I went.
Arrived during the posted business hours only to discover they weren t open.
Good food, good vibe. Staff felt a bit overworked, but their good at what theyre doing
We tried the butter chicken poutine which is by no means traditional. It was an interesting mix, Not for everyones taste buds and certainly an acquired taste. My daughter and nieces enjoyed it. There are other variations that we will try the next time we visit.
No complaints, poutine is as expected from Smokes and staff were very pleasant even though we admittedly arrived shortly before closing time (didnt realize this until after the fact).
I really wanted to like this! But it was only eatable at best. The gravy had no taste like something out of a jar, the curds were rubbery, and it wasnt hot, maybe even lukewarm at best. Is this how all poutine taste? Disappointed.
Fries came cold, and it wasnt super satisfying. Hopefully my order was only a 1-off thing
Very small earing area. They give you a ton of food but it wasnt very good.
Crowded but makes sense why because poutine is amazing. No regrets. Definitely caught my attention on the strip. Franchised so everything was consistent with experiences at other locations.
Best poutine I ever had . Pulled pork was absolutely delicious 10/10.
Food was terrible. Fries came out cold and soggy.. not fresh. service was great though
One of the best poutine around Niagara tourist area. Worth giving a try . They ve got limited seating area.
I am from the states so this was my first time and it was amazing!
The food was AMAZING! We have never had poutine before and it blew our expectations out of the water! The service was not very friendly and kind of stand offish though.
Really good poutine! Loved the variety. Quick and friendly service
Good enough to relief your hunger. Honestly, I don t think it s a big deal, a lot of publicity but nothing to go again. Sooty guys, but it is just fries .
Smoke s Poutine was the best poutine on the strip to us. Definitely a must try if you ve never had Poutine before! We tried 3 other poutines before trying Smoke s. The person running the register and cooking was very polite & made the poutine fresh to order.
Great food highly recommended, service was good, and food was made quickly.
Name name name
Excellent poutine. Crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds, great gravy. Thats how it was meant to be done.
Worst poutine Ive ever had. Do in most part to the Clubhouse or Saint Huberts brands taste of dry packet gravy mix found in most supermarkets. After reading all the hype, truly expected a more genuine stock type gravy. After all isnt that what poutine is all about? The company name has poutinerie in it. Lots of fries and decent amount of cheese curd, but $21 for a large traditional poutine really dropped the bomb for me. Oh well, silly me. Wont be going back anytime soon.
The poutines, in particular the pulled pork, were delicious. Gravy was on the salty side.
We ordered the original poutine and the Avalanche. The original was absolutely amazing!!! The Avalanche was also good, but the original is the best! We got our poutine to go, it was a bit warm inside the restaurant and no one else was eating inside. It seems to be more of a takeout place. Would absolutely go again!
Very good Poutine!! I had the BBQ this time and I really enjoyed it!
Excellent
Excellent poutine place right off the strip. Excellent variety. We snagged the avalanche and butter chicken flavours and loved them both. Staff are cool as well and were super helpful.
Extremely overpriced and half cooked.
Great poutine, but beware, portions are huge.
Great
First time trying Poutinerie and it was delicious! Great staff and it was cool trying Canadian cuisine!
Ive had Smokes in St. Catharines probably 8 - 10 times, its reasonable but nothing compares to this location, fed the whole family for $75 all-in, the fries were perfect and the toppings (I had the Avalanche) were second to none! The person taking our order missed one of the entries and when I pointed it out they prepped it right away and didnt even charge for it!!! Id order from these guys anytime.
Update your hours if y all closing an hour and a bit early
I ate here on my last night walking through Clifton Hills. There was only one woman working inside and she was very delightful! She was quick and helpful with everything. I didnt think I would devour the Chicken, Bacon, Ranch poutine but that was beyond amazing.
Poutine Poutine Poutine Poutine Thats it !! Is really good We made the walk from USA just to try a Poutine ......worth it Clean place , friendly service and good food !! We shared a medium one and was more than enough.....now we go for a Tim Hortons coffee before walking back
I came in today at about 3pm and there was no one at the counter, in the kitchen, anyone to be found. I dont know if the employee had diarrhea and couldnt come out of the toilet or what but there was a line of 7, 8 people and everyone left. I guess maybe the worker had too much pootine, maybe Ill try again at a different location
Google states you guys close at 12, but got there at 10:45 and y all are closed. Update your info if you re gonna close early.
awesome late night spot, you can t beat it. clean bathrooms!!
We tried 4 types. The traditional and ranch chicken is my favorite. Made the mistake of ordering the large, it was just to much food.
Checked out Smokes at Niagara Falls and while it was good, the fries could have been cooked a tad longer. Otherwise it was delicious.
Loved it, awesome chow and awesome service. Guy running the 1 man show kept it moving nice and smooth - just like the gravy!!! Wish ya sold shirts!!
This is poutine. I understand why they tell me to eat it. It s delicious.
Super nice and my first poutine was great!
Good poutine.
This place makes awesome poutine! There is a huge variety of toppings you can choose to add. More importantly, it is very tasty and the portion size were generous! It was served hot and made dinner very satisfying. The staff was really friendly as well, so i highly recommended this place!
The staff were good and very helpful.
Ron was outstanding was courteous, kind and Polite, he made us feel welcome and the Poutine he made was amazing !!! We had the Bacon Cheeseburger
Great place to try some poutine. Apparently this is a gold standard sort of place for the local specialty.
Cute little spot that serves a truly Canadian dish
I was so excited that they had vegan poutine! I ordered through Uber Eats and was so disappointed when I received my order. The description says, Our Vegan classic poutine is just as delicious as our signature classic poutine. The description for the Classic Poutine reads, The in house made gravy has the perfect creamy texture topped with delicious pieces of cheese curds & melting cheese. The vegan poutine is NOT classic as it has no cheese. There are tons of vegan cheeses out there. To serve vegan classic poutine without cheese misrepresented what I was purchasing. What I paid for vs what I got was truly disappointing. I got fries covered is gravy and a few vegan meatballs that were not very good. I wont be back and will be contacting the establishment for a refund.
Best poutine in NF
Service is the worst the store timings shows open till 3 an and at 10 the cashier close the store after waiting for 20 minutes she didnt tell us that you cant have sit and eat here, the order for 1 veggie deluxe came after 20 minutes and she said store is closed go out and eat
Very bad experience with the girl taking orders the order was not okay as well. The veggie poutine was missing peas and they just gave it without any hesitation.
At first I thought it was a bit pricey but then I saw just how much you get and trust me its A LOT. Like a medium could easily be split between two people. Lots of options to choose from, including vegetarian. I got the bacon chicken ranch and it was super good. Not a lot of seating inside though so you might have to eat it on the go.
Excellent Poutine!
This place is so friendly, delicious!
personally a fan of the food but this experience ruined it for me. went there just before closing and the fries, cheese, and beef were cold. complained about it and the manager who claimed her name was Hailey was such a rude person. we asked for a refund because the food was inedible.. meanwhile she just wants to do a partial refund because just the beef was cold, since they were closing soon im assuming the food was not good anymore, why even serve the food if its not good. she knew damn well that the food was cold but was such a difficult person to even speak to. what a joke of management and staff team.
First time trying this and it was SO good! Its definitely only a rare treat since its pretty high in calories, but worth the splurge for sure!
Good traditional poutine and interesting twists on the classic.
Poutine s good but the service was so slow we were waiting for so long that multiple people got there food before us.Luckily we got a refund and we were eating for free and why do you open a fast food restaurant and nobody is back there cooking !!
was okay.
They should hire more workers
Sorry I just passed near So I dont know
Delicious and generous poutine with a very varied choice.
Good for once in a while
Very heavy meal, taste is ok
So so good! First time out of the US. Canada did not disappoint!
Pretty good poutine. Nice people.
Great Service & Food Was Great!
As a Quebec born resident, I was pleasantly surprised with their traditional poutine. My son loved it
The concept is cool, especially in a tourist context. But one thing s for sure, they don t know how to make good poutine.
Small little place but no free parking. Had to pay $10 for parking. Food was as usual good
Yummy
This stuff is worth jumping the border for.
Its fries and gravy with cheese. The cheese is the weird part of it. Good to try once but probably wont have it again
Really good poutine the bacon is amazing service is great and the speed of which I got my food was fast over all very good poutine place I would eat here again for sure
We ve come here twice to try their poutines. The first time I ordered a Pierogi poutine. You just got 3 pierogi s and some bacon bits. The cheese curds are rubbery and the ground beef has no taste. Today, I ordered the veggie poutine consisting of peas, onions and mushrooms. They gave me a reg poutine. When asked about the items, they didn t have any peas. Also, we live in Niagara. I ve asked them to take off the tourist tax with the respond of I don t know how. We ordered 5 poutines today, paid $100 and they are definitely not worth the money. I would not recommend this place at all! Go to Harvey s, they have better poutines.
Poutine is poutine so by all measures this is a decent standard poutine We tried the perogies were very mid though. Just not good. I dont get why they would even offer perogies lol but i wouldnt get them here
Poutine was good. Didnt have tots and place wasnt really clean. Watched one of the staff wipe off a table with cheese curds in the rag - basically just smeared the cheese around..
My palate is not nearly refined enough to distinguish between levels of poutine quality, but their poutine was excellent and very filling.
We are extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the quality of food served here. The curds they served was tough and rubbery. It felt like We were chewing plastic balls. The brown gravy tasted of nothing and the fries were soggy. I post this just so others don t waste their time or money here.
Closed at 9 Showing 10 as per google open timings
Good poutine
Very disgusting... I will not repeat it... There is a lot of sauce in it and its price is very expensive
Not good for health
We couldnt go to Canada without tasting the famous Poutine and its squich squich cheese Large choice of variations, very helpful and friendly waitress
Sunday evening the road is packed all the food joints have line ups. This place is dead. My son wanted a poutine. Got him a medium for $14. What??? Wow that must be an awesome poutine? NOT. Go 4 minutes down the road towards the skywheel. Burger Factory. I would not recommend this poutine place.
Food was good! We were the only customers, but the one employee working was in a sour mood from the moment he noticed we walked in. Also, the bathroom was covered in urine.
Excellent service and great food....a must stop if your around.....left feeling very satisfied
Website says open until 10:00 ,we were there 9:15 and it was closed
We tried this a while back. First Poutine I have ever had. It was ok...Cheese did feel real rubbery. Taste was ok, and the staff was friendly.
On a recent trip to Niagara Falls I was very excited to try eating at this place as I love poutine and Ive never been to a place that offers custom poutines. Upon arrival the place instantly had a weird vibe as there was a young girl working and two younger guys just lingering around talking to her they stepped aside while we made our order. On the website they showed several of their poutines offered chicken when I asked which one was the most popular the young girl just said we only have two in a tone that I can only describe as I dont care. So I decided to try the chicken bacon ranch in a large size which by the way is probably way more than one person needs to eat but I was so excited to be in this place I went for the big one my wife ordered a traditional small poutine. There are very few tables in this place and the two guys that were lingering decided to just sit down and take up seats so we ended up just sitting along the window facing the street in very uncomfortable high chairs. The food itself was very underwhelming my wifes poutine her curds were still cold and not even melts it and mine although was tasty was lacking some real flavor. This place is very average at best and not very clean inside or at least it wasnt on that day since the employee seem more interested in having a conversation with the young boys hanging out at the counter.
Poutine!
They don t specify the price for each size on the menu and to some they say the price on manu is for large and to some customer they charge that price for medium.
Not the Poutine I remember from the old days
Great
I wanted to like this place, I really did. We talked repeatedly about eating here from the first day of our 5 day vacay in Niagara Falls. Walking into the restaurant it was immediately visible that this wasnt going to be a 5 star experience. It wasnt clean. The girl at the counter was checked out and there were two young men who were hanging around her and moving about the restaurant, making it a little uncomfortable to find a spot for us to settle. When we were called to the counter to grab the food, the boys had relocating to front to get closer and hang out with the female staff, making it easier for us to sit and eat. The serving sizes were ridiculously large. I ordered a small classic poutine and my husband ordered large with chicken on it. It looked bad. Mine wasnt hot at all and tasted odd. Some bites were actually cold and salty. The inconsistency was so off-putting that I mostly just pretended to eat it. When my husband voiced his disappointment I stopped pretending and we left. Had it not been for the unprofessional behaviour of the staff and her friends, I believe we would have been more inclined to speak up.
Great taste!
My grandkids like their stuff
So many choices and tastes delicious. O wish I had a location closer to where I live
excellent
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian gravy options available.
