It's not fast food, but it is GOOD food, and worth the wait! Enjoyed the vegan roti!
My friends and I ordered for Jerk chicken Roti and Curry chicken Roti to check try both. I loved it, when we got there my friends were skeptical because of the size of the restaurant and I told them places like this make the best meal. They sure delivered.
Our first time eating here and the food was outstanding! Ordered the chicken curry and shrimp roti. Started off with a beautiful salad containing fresh herbs. The main course consisted of huge portions, and the flavours were on point. Perfect amount of spiciness for me (I like heat but not so much I can't breathe lol), and my husband was given homemade hot sauce, which he really enjoyed. We're hoping the goat will be available next time as we'll definitely be back. The owner is an amazingly creative and kind gentleman. We also like supporting local and independent owners rather than chains (and the food always tastes better)! Don't be put off by the small, simple environment. The food more than makes up for it. Actually, the restaurant had a homey feeling. If you have a chance to visit, do so. You won't be disappointed.
Amazing spot! Authentic. The owner works VERY hard and is such a kind soul. I’ve never seen anyone else working besides him. Go support. You will enjoy the food. I love the fact that everything is made fresh. You may go in and want a specific dish and maybe they won’t have that type of food that day, and you might be let down. But don’t get it twisted because that just means you’re not getting old, sitting out food. He prepares everything fresh. There will always be another option for you if that is the case. Call ahead to check what he has that day. The portions are great sizes. It’s apparent that he puts great care into his food. The first time I went there, I was pretty confused about the pizza part. But when I saw the menu, it made total sense. This guy is a genius at making pizza ingredient combinations. Unfortunately, I cannot have them because I can’t eat gluten due to having celiac disease. But I can only imagine how good they must be. The drink selection is also A1. I’ll always support this spot as long as it’s around. Thank you Edwin! You don’t go unappreciated 🖤
I am Jamaican. Let me tell you, this is one of the best spots in the area! Jerk chicken can be spicy, just a heads up. The coleslaw is good; however, too much vinegar. I would have given 4.5 because of that. The rice and peas are great as well! I will be back.
The first time I tried this restaurant was maybe 6 months ago and I thought it tasted good but the chicken was kind of dry. Boy did they improve! We got two orders of the jerk chicken with rice and peas and slaw and it was really delicious! 3 pieces of Chicken were juicy with great flavor and good amount of spiciness. They give extra sauce on the side too. This is a hole in the wall kind of place and it feels like your neighborhood grandma and grandpa family style restaurant. I highly recommend you trying this place. It takes 15 minutes for take out so call ahead. They have only a few tables if you want to eat in.
I dined in here today. Had a blessed experience. The owner is very kind. And the food is very delicious. I eat out here regularly. Dining in was a great experince, this place gives you that relaxed home feeling to it. I feel comfortable eating here on a date with my partner. I always enjoy the food, and the coleslaw salad is honestly so delicious, it's my favorite. I get a slice of a mango or an avacado with my food and I really love that. I've had dumplings before and I tried this chickpea thing today, I forget what it's called, but that was delicious to. Best place in Niagara Falls for Caribbean food.
The recipe restaurant offers fresh and delicious Caribbean dishes. They have an excellent selection of menu items sure to please any palate. Edwin is an established chef in the niagara region and I was excited to see he had a new restaurant. He takes care in preparing each dish filled with flavor. The coleslaw is absolutely fantastic. The jerk chicken is very spicy and tasty. You can also find a selection of juices here and vegetarian and vegan options. The recipe restaurant is currently offering specials which I've included photos of those menus in this review. I would absolutely recommend the recipe restaurant.
Great food, great taste
Working on the road today. Stopped in to get jerk chicken, no sides. Man prepares a solid bird! Ill be back when Im in the area
Went here for the first time yesterday and it was incredible! Every bite was so delicious. Amazing portions for the price! Im a customer for life now!
I would not recommend this place for the simple reason we were overcharged. We ordered 3 items in person but only got two. We called and no one picked up, then drove back to get the third item. The owner claimed we only ordered two. For the two items we paid $40. We were overcharged by about $6 and the owner did not admit this and said it s high taxes. - JERK CHICKEN WRAP ONLY ~ $15.00 - CHICKEN or VEGETARIAN ~ $15.00 ROTI ONLY Subtotal: $30.00 Tax: $3.90 (13%) Total: $33.90 not $40. Prices are listed on the website. Even at $16 each it still doesn t add up.. Please be careful
Great, real food and prices. Tried for the first time tonight, but well be back. Had his homemade hot sauce with the shrimp roti and it was flavourful. My wife had the curried chicken and enjoyed it as well. Generous portions as we both have lunch for tomorrow. Very friendly owner.
Very good and reasonably priced.
Nicely spiced Jerk chicken very very good !!!
Delicious flavour of the chicken roti it was made fresh and the spice woooooo the best tasting hot sauce I ve tried in my life and I ve tried ALOT definitely coming back to this place thank you!
Good evening. I hope you receive this. This is Brenda from this afternoon at the Floral clock. I must say we really appreciate you delivering to us just the chick peas were not cooked and the goat needed more cooking . Sorry. And please let your customers know you put hot peppers in the goat gravy. Thank you
Wow blown away so much good food super affordable and I ordered delivery and things were talking long not the restaurants fault and they called made sure everything turned out okay thank you so for food and service
Waited 25 mins,, jerk chicken(basic nothing special, not spicy at all) 2 oxtails bland (tasteless) curry goat bland (tasteless) coleslaw mango dressing not good mix. polite man but bad food.
If you are in Nigara Falls and you love some Caribbean food. I suggest you go here! This wonderful man puts his heart into the food. I always order vegan roti, it comes with rice and a delicious salad. I come here very frequently. I highly recommend this food. Delicious and inviting.
This place is a go too, Great service and great portions
If you like Caribbean food, this is the best take-out place in the Niagara Falls region. Best jerk chicken and ox tail along with friendly, quick service with a smile. You can tell when someone loves to cook for others. This gentleman has a great cooking touch that comes through in the flavor.
I cant believe I spent my money here, I asked for a jerk chicken sandwich, not only was it not prepared like jerk chicken should be, it literally looked and tasted like one of those take home rotisserie chickens you buy at Zehrs, not to mention there was BARELY chicken in there, it was mostly bread, it was soaked in a sauce and the texture was off, totally disgusting. Dont come here, ever, please. Just let this place go out of business
Fast service for how much i ordered (25 minutes) Sweetest service i have by far ever had in my entire life by a chef \ business owner he helped carry everything out i did have 5 bags by far the spiciest jerk chicken i have ever had it was delicious!!!!!! :) got extra salads and rice it was very generous sizes too.. ordered a curry chicken it did take an extra couple minutes but it was made fresh and was also delicious my cousin ordered the oxtail and said it was also very yummy she gets it in bermuda all the time and she was very pleased with her meal we even got yummy peppers on the side i highly recommend at least trying this little charm
The man who served me I believe owns this place was very kind and welcoming, it was my first time trying this place and I ll for sure return !! Great tasting food and great value thank you sir
Good quantity was a lot but why is roti served with rice? Seems pointless. It was super bland and not like lack of salt just flavour, I really wanted to like it, also waited over 35 mins. I m happy everything was cooked fresh but was looking for more authentic flavour.
Great food and the owner is very nice.
Im West Indian from Toronto so Im hard to impress with West Indian food. We stumbled on this place by chance and its literally some of the BEST West Indian food Ive had in Canada!! Everything was so fresh and flavourful. The roti literally melts in your mouth. Dont be put off by the poor pictures on the website. Do yourself a favor and stop by this place for dinner, trust me!
Couldnt have asked for better caterer for our wedding!! Edwin put together an incredible menu for us in such a short space of time. The food was hearty, delicious and our guests couldnt stop talking about it even days later (the jerk chicken wraps were a mega hit)! The drop-off, set up and take down was such an easy process and fit in well with all the other activities of the day. We would absolutely recommend The Recipe Restaurant whether its for an event, or if you just want to pick up food at the restaurant.
Food was incredible but what made me give 5 stars is the service. The man at the counter was so friendly and made me feel like a special customer. Being from a small town, I havent seen this kind of service around here. I love the portion size, the home made hot sauce was perfect! 5 Stars!! would give 6 if I could. Will definately return for more. This is the 3rd caribean place in NF we have tried - good service and quality food makes it our new choice. Thanks buddy. See you agian soon!
my boyfriend and I just got the doubles and they were delicious! I m originally from Brampton where Caribbean food is plentiful and I m so happy I finally found a good spot in Niagara Falls. Will definitely be visiting again and I recommend you do too. Don t be scared to try some of their delicious food if you haven t had Caribbean before- you ll be introduced to a whole new world and the Recipe Restaurant won t disappoint. I really enjoyed this meal and am so excited to try the oxtail or goat next time. Thank you guys so much. No pic of the food cause it was too good to stop eating! LOL
Great dinner tonight by recipe. Jerk chicken with a side of plantain.
Fabulous, fantastic, Amazing & delicious.... All adjectives fall short when describing the quality of food turned out by The Recipe Restaurant. We were in Niagara for a mini vacation and taking restaurant food was a challenge for us as we are vegetarians and believe in fresh food. We stumbled upon The Recipe Restaurant website and called the owner. The owner was very friendly and understood our requirement - Low salt, hot fresh veggies, brown rice and beans, all steaming hot with soft Rotis. When the food arrived it was piping hot and so aromatic and delicious, with the veggies so well cooked, that we could not stop serving ourselves more. Kudos to the service, freshness, and great quality food that made our experience with this restaurant a fabulous one. We rate it as ten on ten. Thanks, Chandra A very happy customer
Very polite workers , The food was AMAZING I LOVED IT I highly urge others to support this little spot YOU wont be disapointed! I give a easy 10/10
In Niagara Region, we only have a handful of places to get Jamaican food compared to the options available when I lived in Toronto area. Ive been gradually trying all of them. Last night I got takeout from The Recipe Restaurant. I got takeout oxtail with rice and peas and salad. My first surprise came with the fact that they did not have a choice of small or large size dishes like every other Jamaican place Ive been to. Second shock was the price. $22 compared to other places that are usually around $17ish. The serving size was quite large though so I guess that makes up for the price. Finally, when I got home and opened the container, I immediately could smell that burnt type of smell that lingers when youve burned food. I examined my food and did not see any indication that it was burnt so I continued to try it. I had 2 bites of the rice/peas and one piece of the oxtail. It tasted disgusting. Something somewhere had definitely been burned close to this food. Perhaps at the bottom of the pot and this part was on top but it was affected still? Who knows. It was inedible and went in the garbage. What a waste of $22. The only reason I gave it a 2nd star instead of 1 was because the person who served me was very nice.
Great authentic Jamaican food and awesome staff!
Friendly service and a great menu selection to choose from. The food was delicious and a nice change from our same old choices. Will definitely be visiting again!
I got the jerk chicken. It was really good! Great island flavour with just the right amount of spice for me. Large serving. Served with a nice mango coleslaw and gravy. Love having a different flavour around. Friendly staff.
