1573 Four Mile Creek Rd, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1T0, Canada
Niagara-on-the-Lake's family restaurant and sports bar, serving woodfired pizza, craft beer and much more
We're from Kitchener & asked around Niagara for somewhere good to go. Bricks & Barley was 1 of the recommendations and so we headed here specifically for the stone oven pizza. We opted for a simple cup-n-char pizza. Can't get cup-n-char in Kitchener. It was delicious. Beers poured well and were cold & delicious just as they should be. Clean place, friendly, helpful, chatty staff. Will definitely go back next time we're in the area.
We really enjoyed our lunch on the patio by the fireplace on a rainy Sunday afternoon on a recent visit to Niagara-on-the-lake. This restaurant came as a recommendation from a local we met during our visit at a winery. It was cozy on the patio even on a rainy day. Our service was friendly and fast. Between the three of us we had the delicious house B&B greens salad, the bricks burger and honey hot fried chicken sandwich all with fries and a bottle of Rosé from Ravine. We would definitely come back if in the area again.
Came with a group of 8 and were sat at a table right away. We got our drink order in and they were good. My boyfriend and I ordered the spin dip and the soup trio for an appetizer. The dip was good, the soup trio came out with the mains and the soup tasted canned. One of the staff members came around and told us that she forgot to punch in our order so our pizza would come out a bit later which we were okay with because we had our apps. The flavour was good but because they rushed to get it out it was relatively doughy and the cheese wasn’t melted underneath (as shown).
We’re from Michigan and needed a place with great gluten-free options for dinner, and Bricks and Barley didn’t disappoint! We were so excited to see all the gluten-free choices on the menu, and knowing they had dedicated fryers made us feel even better. I was thrilled to finally try poutine, and it was a real treat! As the Celiac in the group, I had the gluten-free chicken tenders, which were good, though a bit dry. My mom, who doesn’t need to eat gluten-free, got a pasta dish and said it was fantastic. The portion sizes here are massive—easily two to three meals in one dish, which offers great value, but be prepared for leftovers! One downside to our experience was that we asked the waitress for a "side" size of the poutine as an appetizer since we had never tried it before, but she brought us the large one instead, which was $19 CAD! Unfortunately, poutine isn’t something you can reheat and have it taste the same, so it was a bit of a waste. We were also surprised by some of the upcharges, like $5 to upgrade to waffle fries and $9 to add chicken to a pasta dish. That said, the food overall was good, and my biggest concern—avoiding cross-contamination—was fully addressed, so I left happy and healthy!
Weekday lunch on a sunny fall Tuesday, we asked to be seated outside on the enclosed patio, beside gas heater. Very pleasant private-dining-like experience 🙃as we had the space to ourselves. Good local beer selection, solid execution of both the wood-fired pizza - a generous individual-size special feature at lunch - and fish and chips. Would definitely come again if in the area.
Dined here a few times and we enjoyed the food and service almost every time. It's a casual restaurant with a variety of food options. This evening we dined here we were happy but things could be better. We ordered our meals, appetizers and mains but we failed to mention we wanted our wings as appetizers, the server also failed to check with us and for that reason, we had a crowded table. We ordered two sets of wings one set mild and the other mango scotch bonnet which was supposed to be very hot. We also ordered two burgers and one Margherita pizza. When all the food arrived at once I was a little disappointed that we got everything at once. I was also disappointed to find one of my wings was warm not hot in temperature. I tried to let the server know but they assured me that it was fresh out of the fryer, after taking a bite I could confirm it was slightly cold. The floor manager took care of my concern and rectified it quickly. In my opinion, the mango scotch bonnet wings were not bad, the flavour was faint but the heat was there. The mild wings had more flavour than the scotch bonnet wings and I live super hot wings. The burgers were very good, tasted good and I feel it was well made. The pizza was delicious. The sauce and dough were well made. Overall it’s a good place for dinner/ lunch and drinks. Service is good. The bathrooms are clean.
always a wonderful experience. The buffalo chicken pizza & the cup&char honey ft buratta are wonderful. I’ve been here a numerous amount of times, countless even. Always have great service & great food. I’ve been with picky eaters and they have always found something they enjoy. Potato leek soup is a hit & the loaded waffle fries. Cesar salad is also a great portion size. Good parking also & friendly service.
Stopped in for lunch since we saw they always had a bunch of cars in the parking lot. Really glad we decided to eat lunch here. We ordered some pizzas, wings, pasta, onion rings and a salad. Everything came out together and it was really hot and fresh. Table of six with perfect service. They also have a good beer selection. If we are back in the area for more hockey I am sure we will stop in for a bite to eat. I recommend stopping in for some food and libations.
Great staff and we love the gluten free options. The food was outstanding. Definitely go back and you should definitely say try this place out.
Good food and friends make for a great night out.
Always great food
Meh. Want to love this place but always disappoints.
Love the gluten free options! Amazing service and atmosphere. Unfortunately we have recently noticed a change in the pizza sauce. We visited on Saturday and the pizza tomato sauce was basically just chunks of tomatos. We prefer when a sauce is more of a sauce and has a smooth texture. If we wanted chunks of tomatos on our pizza we would order a pizza with tomatos.
One of my favourite restaurants of all time! Amazing gluten free food. Been here a handful of times and always have a great experience.
The food was decent, very large portion sizes! Our waitress has a hard time and actually dropped a couple slices of pizza while bringing it to the table, however she was very apologetic and we were given a whole pizza to take home for free. The waitress had no idea what wines they had in stock, didn t know the soup of the day and had to look into a few other things as well. Hopefully she eqs new or it was just an off day for her! She was very sweet!
Wasn t impressed with service or food last night .. My food was over cooked and burnt After a very long wait to receive it . Drinks were super slow being refilled . I find the place to be going downhill lately . Too bad used to be a favourite . We were also asked to leave , because our time was up .
Fantastic resturant! Lovely covered and heated patio for the colder months. Food was great! You have to try their broccoli and cauliflower bites, 10/10 delicious! Almost everything is or can be made gluten free, and yes, they have dedicated GF fryers! I was so happy to see waffle fries on the menu, gluten free. I was able to have their sauces and dips as well! They also have GF desert options. Unfortunately not dairy free so I couldnt have them but if dairy isnt an issue, youve got options! I cant wait to come back and try some more menu items! Dietary restrictions: Perfect place for GF folks!
Amazing outdoor patio.
Not as good as it was a couple years back.
Food came out cold
Racist servers who spend 60 min delivering drinks instead of taking our orders. I m sorry that people of colour aren t as appetizing as white folks.
Cozy atmosphere with nice staff and delicious food. The pizza with prosciutto and arugula is a must Parking: There is plenty of parking.
The vibe speaks to your soul.
Our go to for lunch when in town - everything I ve tried on the menu has been excellent, service is always awesome!
Great place! Just a very good experience.
The pizza was amazing the first-time we went. The second time we were disappointed However, I decided to give it one more try... We were all super happy with our meals x4 The Lobster Mac n Cheese was amazing. Also, the pizza was so delicious
Great homemade food. Awesome patio.
Just stopped in to check it out and grab a beer. Nice-looking place with a huge brick pizza oven. Really nice heated outdoor area. Very busy. Will have to try the food sometime.
Really good atmosphere, very busy, good food and would certainly visit again when in the neighborhood.
Our first adventure into Canada and had to try. I have celiac. They have a dedicated fryer and knowledgeable servers. No neg food reaction and still smiling!! Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly. Wings!! Finally!!
Nice place for lunch. Pizza was delicious.
I just had the best gluten free meal in ages. Im celiac and this place has a designated frier and knowledgeable friendly staff. Also lots for the non gluten ppl. Just insanely delicious. Fried cheese curds, seafood frito and pizza all amazing. Well worth the drive out of downtown notl where we are staying.
Worst burger ever was burnt beyond Recognition; my mistake though for not sending it back! Would Not recommend eating here Theirs a McDonald s up the road which in desperation would be a better choice. Given some of the previous comments hoped for better food quality; very disappointing and definitely not worth the prices
Great experience visiting this restaurant on a trip to Niagara. The wait time can get long if its busy but the food was worthwhile for sure. Food : 5/5
Tessa our server was amazing. Very happy and friendly. The food was amazing couldnt have asked for anything more. Will be coming back again thats for sure!
The service was really poor. We got our food literally after 1 and half hours and we had commitments later. People who came later got their food and we were still waiting for it. Worst service and would never recommend it.
Visited this restaurant with a large group of friends over the weekend for a quick bite and I have to say it was incredible!! I love unplanned surprises that are this good. They were busy but didnt wait too long, maybe 20 min for a table and it was worth the wait! Staff, service and food was 5 star. PS. anyone that loves deep fried pickles .... MUST HAVE!!! I have never had them like this and they are officially now my favorite! This is my go to place from now on whenever I am in NOTL.
We ordered the fish and chips, steak with tater tots, and sweet heat pizza. Everything tasted phenomenal and the beer selections were excellent! Will definitely drop by again when in the Niagara area.
They were great at making sure our food was gluten free. Everything was delicious and the waitress was very friendly.
Bricks and Barley in Virgil, Ontario, offers a casual dining experience that blends local charm with a diverse menu. The restaurant stands out for its wood-fired pizzas, with choices like the Wild and Blue, featuring blue cheese, wild mushrooms, and truffle oil, and more traditional options like the Margherita with fresh basil and mozzarella. Their menu also boasts hearty dishes such as the Cajun Shrimp Tacos, Baked Chorizo Tortellini, and Broasted Chicken, providing a variety of flavors to suit different tastes. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot for family outings or a casual meal with friends. Guests often appreciate the outdoor patio, perfect for enjoying meals during warmer months. However, some patrons have noted that service can be hit or miss, particularly during busier times. Overall, Bricks and Barley is well-regarded for its innovative menu and comfortable atmosphere, making it a popular choice in the Virgil area. For more information, you can check their profile on OpenTable or other review platforms.
Pet friendly restaurant with good prices, good food and friendly service! Recommended!! Food
The Food was good and ambience was also peaceful ,only one of the pizza we ordered at the end was a bit burned from the base . One important thing we noticed was for some reason the women working at the bar(thin blonde girl)when we were leaving the restaurant and we did left the restaurant on time the Lady was very rude to us shouting and yelled at us very badly by saying Guys we re are closed ,we asked her what is the reason that you are rude to us she ignored . we asked her name thrice to the other employees but they were trying to hide. All together food was nice, server was very nice but this staff member was very very rude. Incident happened on October 13th
I ve been a loyal customer for the past few years, but my recent experience left me extremely disappointed. We arrived at 8:15 PM 13 Oct 2024 and were enjoying our meal, even though they close at 9. Our server brought the bill before we finished, which we understood, but we asked to stay until we were done. At around 9:30, as we waited for a friend who was in the washroom, the server (Blonde Skinny girl) rudely shouted at us that they were closed. This was not only unnecessary but also incredibly disrespectful. She shouted twice and walked to the bar side. The food served was not up to the mark. the buffalo pizza we ordered was burnt and they claimed it was the last one in the oven thats why and the wings were lacking sauce. Which we didn t sent back. Highly disappointed by the service and wouldn t recommend this restaurant at all now.
Patio was a great option even in the chilly weather!! A bit pricey for the servings. Gluten free crust for pizza was good!
Nice spot, good selection of beers, large patio. We tried the sweet heat pizza, which was a good sized delicious wood fired pizza. Great spot overall!
First time coming here today. Stopped in for lunch on our way home and so happy we did!! The food was excellent and the service was quick! Definitely will be visiting again soon :)
Its ok
Before I would have given this place all 5 stars, but they recently removed a few great options from the menu. Which in my experience takes away from the overall great places and atmosphere. The Honey Ponza Stir Fry and The Waffle Fry Nachos, both that were amazing and delicious now gone.
Stopped in for the first time today it was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back. Waitress was great , food was excellent
My friends and I arrived here around 2:30PM on Sunday. We picked Bricks & Barley because Google real time showed them less busy than usual and we had a party of 10. When we entered, the restaurant was fairly empty with just another party of 3 waiting to be seated - majority of tables were empty. When we asked the hostess for a table of 10, she advised us the wait would be over ONE hour. I told her that I understand we have a big group but we are willing to split up into smaller groups at their convenience. She replied again that would take over ONE hour wait . I asked why it would be one hour if 1/2 the restaurant is empty, to which she said we just seated a party of 10 so we cannot accommodate you at this time . Our party left with a sense of not being welcome there; perhaps because we had a few young children with us or perhaps we were an entire group of Asians. Another member of our group called the restaurant directly a few minutes later to inquire if the restaurant was busy at the moment and if they can accommodate a large party. The staff over the phone told us that the restaurant was able to seat us if we came in now. We said no thank you and did not return nor will return ever again.
Good service and delicious food.
Went in for supper. We had chicken fingers, honey-hot chicken sandwich...both were the stars of the show! Obviously freshly made there, cooked to perfection and the sauce was on point! Fries are also fresh, not frozen, and they were really good too. Philly Cheesesteak was massive and very tasty. Ice cold beer and pop topped it all off!
The restaurant closing time was 10 pm and when we showed up at 9:02 they turned us away because they stated that because it was the long weekend they decided to not seat people anymore . You should most definitely have that in your hours and state that you close at 9 pm then for next time please and thanks.
Definitely one of the best food experiences of Virgil. It s impossible to not enjoy the food here. Pizza made perfect
Nice place to eat in a nice small town.
This place is a great choice for a casual meal, especially if you love appetizers! Everything we ordered was delicious and the servers were very friendly
Amazing food. Great experience! Parking: Its a huge lot. Its shared with one other business. Food : 5/5 |
Food was great, pizza delish! Service was friendly and attentive.
Olivia at the front was very rude! Saying rude, nasty comments while we were still in the restaurant walking out. She needs to learn customer service. If not, she should quit
I had a wonderful experience while I was there a couple of nights ago with my boyfriend. The hostess, Liv, was so friendly and welcoming, she greeted us with a smile and quickly seated us! The service and food were absolutely fantastic, the time between courses wasn t long either! We had an amazing time!
Been here twice because others had invited me. Neither time I left overly impressed and would not select this restaurant over the other gems in the area. Very mediocre. Chicken fingers were extremely dry. Staff was nice but took over an hr for food to arrive. Outdoor patio is nice so will rate atmosphere a 3
Food came out quickly, service was great, Cajun shrimp tacos were a trip, and the flourless brownie sundae tastes like love. Dietary restrictions: Tons of gluten free options
I had the most amazing time. May Day was amazing had so much fun living life and driving with the top down wind blowing sun gleaming with company of a good friend. Spontaneous moments are the best moments. We had dinner at this amazing beautiful restaurant Food was bang on service was in point atmosphere was glowing Just an absolutely amazing day. Absolutely recommend this to place to every.
50 bucks for a pizza
Excellent for gluten-free dietary restriction. Very knowledgeable about the diet. Food was delicious, especially for GF. Great fish and chips. No hesitation in recommending this location and would definitely return.
Broccoli and cauliflower bites were great, accompanied with Silversmith Black Lager. Waited too long for our mains. Fries were lukewarm and my wifes salad came dressed instead of on the side. Felt we were being rushed out.
Everything we ordered was delicious and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Also lots of amazing gluten free options!
Great for gluten free. The 5 of us were easily accommodated despite having not made a booking. The menu is extensive and for my daughter and I the number of GF options was phenomenal (their menu is available online). We were able to enjoy Poutine and I opted for a grilled chicken loaded cob salad, which was huge. Unfortunately, they were out of stock of gluten free beer (only 1 option on the menu too, but there seems to be far less choice across Canada), however we enjoyed some nice local ciders that were on tap. For non GF, there are nearly 20 beers to choose from. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
TLDR: cornbread is good, everything else is mediocre. We were in town for the weekend and came here for dinner at the recommendation of a local. Even though things seemed to be dying down for the evening, our food took 40 minutes to come out. Thankfully the Olympic opening ceremony was on the TV to keep us distracted. I ordered the hot honey fried chicken sandwich and my partner got the bruschetta pizza. We both ordered a side of mac and cheese. Coming from Toronto, I had a bit higher expectations for the food. The sandwich was dry and the pizza was soggy and overpowered by toppings. The Mac and cheese had a lingering iron taste from the cast iron dish it was being served in. I would say this is equivalent to Jack Astor s or some other chain restaurant. Not the worst, but certainly not the best.
Pretty nice place in NOTL. The food is good. I would however say to fix your recipe of Margarita pizza - it tastes like rotten cheese with bland sauce. Service is great, people are nice, environment is chill. Recommended!
Dietary restrictions: They do gluten free very well. It is so good you think how could this be gluten free??? Yet it is!! Food
Good food and service with great ambience.
This place was always a go to but sadly their menu has changed a lot including getting rid of wachos. Their wachos were one of the best items on the menu and they no longer serve it. This is a very big mistake probably wont be back. Their pizza is great but their other food is just okay.
We had a lovely lunch here! We tried their charcuterie board, which featured more savoury options than sweet and was delicious. We also tried some seasonal specials, including an heirloom tomato pizza and a Niagara peaches and cream sundae. Everything was done really well, and the indoor and outdoor seating options were both cozy.
My girlfriend called this the best pizza she had in her life. We got the burrata pizza
Decent spot in Niagara region for food & drinks. Food was mediocre and moderately priced. Friendly staff.
Incredible food in a cozy location. Portions were very generous and the menu had genuine variety
First time to B&B. We enjoyed dining on the patio for an early dinner last week. Tessa provided excellent service and recommendations. Our food was hot, yummy, plentiful, and reasonably priced. We ordered chicken tenders and a custom pizza. The sweet potato fries were also hot and fresh. Wish you had honey mustard sauce for the chicken tenders although the numerous available sauces were quite tasty. Enjoyed the experience so much that we returned again for another early dinner the next day - a holiday. Ordered another custom pizza and the Blue Moon Burger with sweet potato fries. Yum! The burger was cooked properly all the way through. Service was much better the previous day. Wish we had a B&B in our home town. Well done B&B team.
Nice roadside restaurant, very good beers, fast service, hearty dishes
Evan made our dinner and it was phenomenal! Best pizza I ve ever eaten!
Particularly liked the cauliflower starter.
Our new favourite place to dine! Visited on recommendation of fellow celiac...so glad we did! An overwhelming number of delicious gluten free options! Even the drinks menu indicates which drinks are GF...never seen that anywhere else before & so appreciate it! Everything we tried (& we tried a lot!) was fantastic, but standouts were the GF Sweet Heat Pizza & Flourless Brownie Sundae. My husband who does not need to eat GF, also loved the food & said the baked beans with the Nashville Fried Chicken were best hes ever had. Nice vibe, decor & ample parking - overall great place to dine whether you need to eat gluten free or not. We will be making the 90 minute drive to Bricks & Barley often...well worth the drive! Thanks so much for offering so many amazing GF options!
Large portion size.. food is just ok... good atmosphere and vibe
Two words...frigging amazing pizza!!!!
This place is amazing loved everything
Great service, Pizza and drinks!
Amazing food and service. Patio was very relaxing.
Stopped in on the way into Niagara-On-The Lake. A local gem just off the main highway. Ordered the pesto chicken sandwich with fries and the Canadian pizza. I expected the chicken to be warm but the sandwich was served cold. Otherwise delicious. The pizza was larger than expected and very good. Would definitely recommend.
I used to love this restaurant. I am celiac and the selection of food I could actually eat was great. On my last visit with my family the food was absolutely atrocious. The meal started out okay, crispy dills and calamari were both good. It was all downhill from there: My children had gluten free Mac and cheese which I remember being awesome - it was undercooked and the pasta texture horrible, not very cheesy and completely lacking salt/any flavour. Their fries were somehow overcooked and undercooked at the same time. My husband and I ordered the Nashville chicken. Both of our orders were burnt. Absolutely black on the bottom and each piece seemed deliberately placed to hide the black parts. But that couldn t hide the burnt taste even on the other, only overcooked, parts. We sent our food back. Our kids somehow ate some of theirs anyway so we paid for that and did give feedback after the fact. Our server was good, not her fault at all. Atmosphere wise, the chairs on the patio are really uncomfortable and the cushions are getting old and worn and don t really pad the seats anymore. I m not sure if it was a really off night or if this place is going right downhill. Either way we won t be back.
My husband was in Lewiston yesterday so I asked him to bring home the brisket salad from Bricks and Barley. Omg! It was better than I remember!! Couldn t wait to have some for breakfast this morning! Just delicious!!
Pleasing a gluten-free AND dairy-free lifestyle can be difficult when eating out, but this place knows how to work it! They are super accommodating, knowledgeable, willing to check with chefs on any questions, and the gluten-free chef herself knows how to make the food taste delicious! Our server was extremely friendly, conversational, and timely with everything. I highly recommend this place, hands down! Dietary restrictions: The pizza was made with an excellent gluten-free crust and could be accommodated with a dairy-free restriction as well. The grilled pineapple burger was perfect with a gluten-free bun (not dry, especially when paired with the sauce provided with the burger) and was also accommodated for dairy-free restrictions. Both were excellent choices and would definitely get them again!
Love the look of this place. Was really disappointed with the service. We didnt even have someone come over to see if we wanted drinks till well after 15min and then it took her a very long time to come back to get our orders. The food took at least half an hour to arrive. The sandwich was really good but the salad had almost no dressing. It was an ok experience, definitely not a wow. Maybe it was an off night. I would like to say it wasnt really busy either. Lots of empty tables.
Amazing pizza!! Atmosphere and staff were amazing. Would definitely recommend. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options Food : 5/5 |
This place was recommended so we met family that were here for the Shaw. Our server Lexi was friendly but not very helpful. After ordering our food took a very long time which is probably why my burger was overcooked and cold. My salad looked good but the oil and vinegar dressing was tastless. Salt and pepper may have helped if we had them. If you just want beer try your luck.
Lots of gluten free options!!
Bring back Supreme pizza
Enjoyed the food and draft beer. Pizza, Philly steak and Cesar salad were amazing. Patio was nice even on a hot day
They are consistent consistently slow. Being local, I wanted this to be a great place. Since opening, the food has been blah, Ive tried almost everything on the menu, and the service is very, very, very slow. This is so unfortunate, and I keep giving more opportunities to see improvement because I go there out of convenience but lately its been even slower than before.
Food was great and Tessa was an amazing server!
Good place for pizza, service is a bit slow
So many options for those who cant eat gluten. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food : 5/5 |
The Caesar salad, pizza was delicious. Gluten friendly options were appreciated by our 9 year old granddaughter. A shout out to our server who was so very attentive I will be sure to recommend to friends.
Delicious pizza!
We went in on a Saturday evening with a reservation. It took a while for someone to come to our table to take our beverage order but after that the food and drinks were coming out in a resonable time. The food was amazing, we ordered a charcuterie board and meat pizza. Both were fantastic!!!
Arugula pizza is excellent and the Sweet Heat pizza was better! Patio is nice. Sarah E was great!!
Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options Food
We went for a birthday today and was very disappointed in menu items being removed. It seems it changes often and our favourite things were taken off. The dill pickle pizza was delicious however we had wished we would have ordered the Burrata Pizza instead. Sad but I am not sure we will return. There use to a nacho dish made with lattice fries, and also was a chicken dish that left the menu. No wows left on the menu and the beer is very basic.
Awesome!! Great atmosphere, delicious food & cold beer. Great place to visit for date night or relaxed bite with the kids (during the day). Definitely a must try! Food : 5/5
I normally dont leave reviews, but thought I had to after this experience.. Visited for the first time the evening of Thurs. Jul. 11 after visiting a couple of local wineries. Local craft beer selections were superb, as were the service, the food and the atmosphere. We sat on the patio, and had the seafood fritto appetizer, shared a mixed sweat heat & prosciutto/arugula pizza, along with a side garden salad. Everything was top notch, well beyond our expectations. The establishment was very clean and cosy and the service was exceptional. Definitely look forward to returning.
Ive had the best fish and chips of my life here. We ordered wings, fish and chips, and pizza, all of which were excellent. The staff was very professional as well. The prices of the food were perfectly matched to their quality.
Delicious food, very friendly staff!
Patio was nice. It was a pretty busy day but the staff handled it well.
The Bruschetta Pizza and chicken tenders were exceptionally delicious. The restaurants atmosphere was calm and pleasant, creating a welcoming environment. Additionally, the staff demonstrated a high level of politeness. I have a strong appreciation for this restaurant.
First time coming here! Food was awesome! Our server Tessa was great! Came here a bit earlier in the day so it was quiet but we were fine with that! Highly recommend!
Good atmosphere, food quality has declined while prices increased.
Four of us had a great meal last night. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal they ordered. I found the French fries to be excellent and the chicken tenders were just that - tender, huge and not dry. Our server was attentive, pleasant and made our meal very enjoyable.
We stopped in late afternoon on a Saturday after visiting Wayne Gretzky Estates and found the place by searching restaurants on Google maps. There were a lot of people at the hostess stand and it seemed like there might be a wait but we luckily were able to get seats at the bar. The bartender was friendly and attentive. He recommended the chicken pesto sandwich and it was very good. The salad was good as well. The atmosphere was upbeat and lively. Bathrooms were clean. Plenty of parking. Parking: Parking lot
The food is not good. Staff very nice, fun atmosphere, but the basic fact is the food is not good. Every meal Ive had there, the food is bland, feels industrial, and disappoints. For a drink with friends, great choice. Eat somewhere else.
Id give 0 stars if I could. Service was actually No service . Can t rate the food as I walked out after 15 minutes without any server coming to my table. Never again. They suck.
Really nice staff and great patio! They have a few options that can be made vegan but would love to see more.
Katie was amazing, food was fantastic, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and is very accommodating
We had a bit of a wait despite our reservation, but the staff made up for it! They got our food and drinks orders in right away and were super pleasant. Food was great!! Dietary restrictions: Huge GF menu
Great first experience! The food exceeded expectations. The service was excellent
This was our first time at Bricks and Barley. When we are in NOTL we usually go to Barrelhead for stone oven baked pizza, but as it was alittle cool and Barrelhead only had their patio open we decided to try somewhere else. We spoke to the owners of Greenview Manor where we were staying, asked about Bricks and Barley and they told us that they had received very good reports about the place and the menu. We were not disappointed, the staff were very friendly, we were shown to our table, there is a choice of inside or out, we sat inside. The outside looked very nice and was very popular. Our waitress came and took our drinks order, I asked if the pizzas were big enough for two and the waitress was more than happy to explain. All pizzas are medium and cut into eight slices so are great for two people, we also ordered a side of ceaser salad. The wait was not long, the pizza was hot when it came, and the salad was very fresh. We ordered the Wild Blue pizza, the toppings were olive oil based, mozzarella, blue cheese, wild mushrooms, caramelized onions and truffle drizzle. One thing I notice about some places is, when you have blue cheese you cannot taste it, but this was certainly not the case here. The prices were good and in line with most other places. I would reserve a table as the place can get very full, we were there between 5.30 and 6.45. I would certainly recommend Bricks and Barley to anyone, and will definitely be returning. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options are available Kid-friendliness: There are no issues with kids eating at the restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: The inside and out side eating areas are flat with no steps to access either area
Great pizza, great atmosphere and great service!!
Fantastic place, great bar food. Very good service, plus I went with a group during the weekend so hats off to you.
Delightful patio! Great service and fresh, tasty food!
This is one of our favourite places to stop for a local draft and bite to eat. What happened to the wachos? Server was so nice.
The food and the service was very good. The patio is very large, had a retractable roof and heating for those chilly evenings. I had the triple bacon burger and it was delicious. We also had an order of nachos. They were rather disappointing. The nachos tasted good but there just wasnt enough toppings. Overall a good experience. A bit on the pricey side but not out of line. I would go back.
Vegetarian review: Must try : loaded sweet fries, it had an amazing tangy sauce and it was fully loaded with beans and corn and other veggies. Had a recommendation for Dilli-cious pizza, but was not worth the hype, it was okayish. Dessert : cinnamon roll 2/5 - very stiff and not so good, had high expectations from it. Strawberry sundae 4/5 - very nice combo of strawberry ice cream, strawberry jam, whipped cream and fresh strawberry. Brownie 3/5 - dark chocolate brownie but not a fudge brownie. Cocktail 5/5 - watermelon sugar was yummy and just perfect The server was sweet and kind. Service was quick and good. Definitely recommend the place. Vegetarian options: They have multiple options for vegetarians, pizza selection is also good.
ordered the cajun shrimp tacos, these were very tasty however very small portions for $19! finished my meal in less than 5 minutes, maybe offer a side or something else with the 3 tacos?
Enjoy the best wood-oven pizza in town, served in a great atmosphere by friendly staff.
Went for dinner and it was a very good experience. Food was fantastic and so was the service. Definitely will be back! Food
The bruschetta pizza is excellent!
Food 5 stars Service 5 stars Atmosphere 5 stars 5 stars for everything 10/10 would try again
Brocc N Cauli Bites and Curd Clusters were great Pizzas were good 8/10
We stopped in twice last week. Both times the food and service were exceptional! Highly recommend
We had a wonderful server ! Katie ,was her name the food was 5 out of 5 ..we tried the cob sala d,the tomato ,boccachini, and spinach ,and a gluten free pizza ..all served fresh !! We will return
This was a cool place to have lunch. The food was pretty decent - I had pretzel bites and Mac and cheese. The pretzels were good but the Mac and cheese was not my favourite - very heavy, not sure if it was cream in it or what. It wasn t so great but the rest of my party had oven-fired pizzas and they raved about them. I definitely want to go back to try to them. My garden salad was very good too and the chickpeas especially were good. It s NOTL so the pace is a bit slower there I find at restaurants. Big senior lunch crew so it was very laid back - the server waited some time before coming with the bill but I think it was the kind of crowd where that makes a lot of sense. I wasn t in a rush so it was good. I will come back to try a different dish.
Came on a Tuesday night, so wasn t very busy, hostess was nice but the waitress was missing in action, not great service. But the worst part was my mom took her salad to go and when she opened it for lunch the next day she found a worm in her salad. Really gross, only means they re not properly cleaning their greens. See video.
Jayden was an amazing server!! We had a great girls day here :)
Great food - fantastic deserts and the staff went above and beyond, even on a crazy holiday weekend.
We had our wedding party there for Supper. They had amazing customer service and great food. We choose it because of the large Gluten Free menu they have and it did not disappoint. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Some of the dishes were great and some were alright. Service was good and food was served pretty quick despite of being fairly busy.
Fried chicken. Not good. Chicken noodle soup good. Had to order a marguerita pizza as the chicken was not edible. Overcooked, dry, no flavour. Very, very, very slow service. Baked beans has bacon. Does not indicate this on the menu. Oversight for Christian dominant people. They dont care about the rest of us. I gave this review 2 stars but am lowering it to 1 star. Back again, its really awful. The pizza came. Sauce is ragu or some other godawaful store bought thing. How? How can this be an acceptable meal? Will never return. Worst than Ruffinos, which is really awful. Please care about your food.
This place has everything you want! Theyve also got a wide selection of craft beer and a great wine list. There is too many great things on the menu to mention. We went 3 times in the opening week and were never disappointed. Our toddler even enjoyed the kids pasta. Update:4/8/24 The pizza has come a long way. Not only have the toppings and pre-built pies improved but so has the cooking process. In the past I would say the crust lacked some of that leoparding you expect from a fired brick oven but now there is a good distribution of char on the crust. It is clear the management has been working hard to improve the overall customer experience and the food over the last few years. The portion sizes still remain plentiful and the staff is very well prepared if there are any dietary concerns you may have. Highly recommend!
Its been a long time since Ive been so utterly disappointed in a place. The promise of the menu and the ambiance is deceptive - the food is so inadequate its upsetting. We ordered the Nashville fried chicken - he had the meal, I had the sandwich. The chicken was over fried and dry as bone, and completely lacking the flavour youd expect from Nashville-style. It also took a long time to serve us, so the long wait made it doubly annoying. He couldnt get through even one piece of chicken it was so bad, so ordered a Margherita pizza. My sandwich was fine because it had other ingredients to moisten it, but still lacked flavour and very dry. Wood fired oven, right? Makes it sound like they should know how to make a pizza. Not so. The sauce was flavorless and acidy, and generally unfit to call a pizza. Thankfully they took both of his meals off our bill because they were truly inedible. Its so unfortunate - its like this establishment has never been to a good pizza place or pub, and have no idea how to follow a formula that other restaurants have long figured out. This is not complicated food to get right. Figure it out.
Food and service were great. Patio was open and so inviting.
The Blue Moon Burger was so tasty!!
Busy sports bar with great food, ample servings and friendly staff. Its a great neighborhood rest
We came to Bricks & Barley for a meal after a day of going to the vineyards. We were a large group of people. The food had good concepts but poor execution. The pizza was a big soggy despite being made in a big fire oven. Service was ok, we had a sassy server who was very rude to us, Collin (our actual server) rectified the experience with his level of professionalism. Atmosphere was fun, good decor, set up and overall vibes.
Great Service, Average Food Quality Our recent visit to Bricks and Barley left us with mixed feelings. While we appreciated the attentive service provided by the staff, particularly Sarah E. And there were notable issues with the quality of the food. Sarah Es professionalism and dedication to her work were evident throughout our dining experience. Her friendly demeanor and efficient service enhanced our overall impression of the establishment. However, our excitement over the menu selection was dampened by the disappointing quality of the food. We ordered prawn tacos, cheese pizza, and buffalo chicken pizza, only to find that the pizzas were not cooked evenly. While the outer layer and upper cheese were adequately cooked, the middle layer remained soggy and doughy, indicating a lack of proper cooking time. Additionally, the choice of ingredients, such as banana peppers deeply soaked in vinegar, overpowered the overall taste of the pizza, detracting from the enjoyment of the meal. Despite the shortcomings in the food quality, we must commend the staff for their professionalism and attentive service. However, we hope that Bricks and Barley takes steps to improve the consistency and quality of their food offerings to match the high standard of their service.
Booked a reservation online, which is recommended; the food was delicious and arrived very quickly. Also, the staff was very friendly!
So glad we decided to come here. I had read reviews that they had gluten free meals, but I have to say I was more than impressed. So many gluten free options! I finally chose the gf fish and chips, hadnt been able to enjoy that in over 15 years! Dedicated fryers for it all and they used gf beer to make the beer batter. Felt so good to eat out and have no worries of a gluten reaction. Service was impeccable and server was very knowledgeable.
We ve been ordering from bricks and barley for years now and what the heck happened with the size of the pizza. It used to be almost the same size of the box and is now like a unipersonal size. The disappointment. 30$ for a misery, at least add the size on the website so we know it s a scam we are ordering. Ridiculous
A wonderful dining experience.
The service was lovely, the food was pretty good, with the pizza definitely being the highlight. The sports memorabilia was a nice touch.
Great gluten free options, very knowledgeable staff. Had a good time. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Parking: Good parking spots. Lots of space
We love this place. EVERYTIME we are in town we stop at least once. The food is always amazing and we ve never had a bad meal! The service can be iffy depending on how busy they are and what waitress you have but the food is always fantastic.
Awesome food options and quality. My wife wanted to go here because of the gluten-free reviews and they did not disappoint her. 5 star! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options with a dedicated area for gluten-free food prep and cooking. A MUST for people like my wife.
We planned a large team group dinner here and it was fantastic! From the planning, execution, communication, service, quality of food. Top notch! It is not easy to hold 12 different families, different bills and they executed with no errors and everyone had food within 10 minutes of each other. Talk about a fast working kitchen!! We have always been Bricks and Barley fans but this experience has heightened out love for this place and others in our group. Mentioning they would travel from their home in Hamilton to her often just to come back! Thank you for making our experiencing enjoyable! Fantastic team!
Delicious house made food Large portions and fast friendly service
Great place for food and service!!
Amazing service, thanks Tessa!!! In addition the food was FRESH and DELICIOUS !!!!!!!!!!! I would definitely recommend!! Food : 5/5 |
The missing family restaurant in NOTL. This is an independent chain menu type of restaurant. Burger and fries, pizza, fish and chips and some salads. This place has that family restaurants done right vibe although not every tv needs to have sports on it, bit of a negative there. The food was fresh not frozen. It was middle of the road flavour. The pizza was wood fired but the dough was a bit flat in flavour, didn t have that tang from a 24hr rise a good wood fire dough needs. Way better than any chain pizza you will ever find. Like I said, middle of the road. The staff were amazing and friendly. Well trained like everywhere in NOTL, I left a large a well earned large tip. Give this place a try if you want to go out and get something new but familiar. Vegetarian options: Yup. I didn t really pay attention but there were salads. Dietary restrictions: They have a large Gluten Free menu. The section is posted on the website. Parking: Large parking lot. Kid-friendliness: Absolutely. Tons of kids there when we went. Didn t even mind when our kid spilled her juice. Thanks again. Wheelchair accessibility: It s wheelchair ramped in the front. Look like there were large enough laneways to get through. Most tables are on the floor level and there is a decent sized patio. There are a couple of high barstool tables but most are average height. I never went to the washroom.
Good vibes, food, service, and cool atmosphere. Wood fired pizza was great, burgers were great, poutine was great! 10/10 will return again Dietary restrictions: Huge selection of gluten free options
It was ok. Nice looking spot. But food was nothing special.
My Cobb salad was delicious but the burger we ordered was not fully cooked otherwise delicious
Had the chicken tenders. Sadly terrible. No flavour and extremely over cooked. The side salad was also disappointing. Lack of flavour. The waitress was polite but very busy and didn t have a chance to ask me what I thought. At least the beer I had was good. Left hungry and disappointed.
Got sandwiches to go for the football game, everything was awesome. Will definitely be back for dine in the next time we are in the area.
Great food at a fair price
Have been coming to this restaurant every time I am in Niagara but unfortunately today will be my last time here. Service wasn t great from our server. I did express my experience to Piper (supervisor) so they are aware. The burger was undercooked for my 2 year old son and food was room temperature. Not fresh or hot. Chicken tenders had no taste. Weren t given any sauces for them. Weren t offered lunch menu options as it was suppose to be my responsibility for stating I wanted it. Server didn t refill drinks when empty or ask. Will try out other restaurants in Niagara next time! Just be aware if you come here they don t really care about your experience. Very disappointing.
Always great food and service! Can t say enough good things about this place.
My mom and I had the cauliflower and broccoli app and we were blown away! It was SO GOOD! We also had the pizza, which is made in a wood fired oven and the crust is absolutely perfect, so yummy!
Loved our pizza and especially the broccoli cauliflower appetizer. it was so delicious, just fantastic. The service was great as well!
Food was good as always. Servers r all amazing here. Even the hostess was super friendly n helpful! Love this place!
We have always enjoyed eating here but this time the food tasted bland. The pretzel bites were burnt and the sauces were tasteless. We will not be going back anytime soon.
Bricks & Barley was already our lunch destination for this trip into Niagara-on-the-Lake, but after visiting the nearby distillery (Limited) and getting a very positive rating of the dill pickle pizza, we knew we were in the right place! From our corner table, we had a great view of the wood-fired pizza oven. The two chefs were constantly at work (the pizza is popular) hand tossing the dough, making the pizza and tending the oven. We had the Dill-icious Pizza, and it certainly lived up to the recommendation! Large enough for two, we left fully satisfied. Wonderful staff - friendly, attentive and helpful (Thanks Katie!). If youre in the Virgil area, perhaps for wine beer or spirits, check out Bricks & Barley - especially the pizza!
We have really enjoyed everything we ve tried, but the pizzas are our favourite. Cool patio, interesting menu. It s quite busy often so keep that in mind if you are going during a high traffic time. Excellent for a date or something more casual like drinks with friends. Vegetarian options: Our favourite vegetarian menu around.
Thanks to David for his stellar customer service! He ensured that the temperature on this cold day was warm inside the restaurant, and brought us the most plush and comfortable blankets to ensure our visit was cozy. Many staff members came by to check on us, so we were well attended.
Great food and drinks. Great service
Great place with lots of gluten free options!!!
We went for lunch today knowing that we had a gift card valued at $9.00 being held in the office from a previous take out order that was incomplete. David the manager came over to our table and introduced himself and told us that he would like to buy my main entree instead of dealing with a gift card. He apologized for what had happened to our take out order and clearly wanted to make it right. David went above and beyond and I want to recognize him for his professionalism and generous offer. First class service. Thank you David!
